It worked even stronger of an effect but the negatives outweighed the positives for me. Had horrid libido issues where I wouldn't be able to ejaculate (sorry idk how much more PG I could keep this while explaining.) Also I would be able to stay up for days (more than one) in a row just bec I couldn't sleep. Obviously there are other meds to counteract this, but I didn't wanna be using meds to counteract the med I was taking.
Go for a different SSRI. All 4 of them Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, Lexapro are made up completely different. For me Lexapro give me wobbles and I went through all 3 before finding Paxil worked for me so I know how you're feeling.
Not that bad my sister switched her Zoloft after 13 years like nothing. Everyone is different. Only thing I experienced after coming off 2 years of Paxil was the brain zaps and as the famous saying goes "nothing lasts forever". Was the same case with them. If you need to come off of a SSRI I have a pinned comment above on how to get off them easily!
Thank you for the quick reply I really appreciate it I've been on 10 milligrams for 4 days I just wanted your input I'm one of those people like you would rather go there natural route and freak out about taking medicines especially those that affect the brain but I hate the way I am and the way it's helped you so I'm praying that I can get to where you are I really appreciate your help
Me too. I took it in college and then just suddenly stopped taking it (dumb kid didn’t know better) experienced the crazy withdrawals. I’ve gone through some traumatic experiences that have left me unable to work them out and now as a 40year old I may have to give Paxil another go of it. But like you it causes me anxiety just thinking about it.
I would also like to post this in the aid of anyone who no longer needs to be on paxil. I am sure many might stumble upon this as well with that similar question. Honestly if you are on it for a long time or prescribed to be on it for a life time it's going to be harder. I do fully recommend to check out a herb called Kratom if you are 18 years of age or older. Kratom is renowned for helping people get off opiates and other drugs. It is actually quite safe as long as you don't over do it. I actually still take it a couple times a month for my sleepless nights and bad depressive spells or just a mood lifter in general. You take as recommended on package usually for me 1/3 to 1/2 a normal sized spoon. It helps A TON to get off paxil with absolutely NO side effects. Most people getting of paxil will experience the brain zaps. This is what I have found that helps. If you don't get the brain zaps in the first week you are in the clear haha! Hope this helps guys. I am still taking any questions as well on here <33
+Ken T It took me exactly 3 weeks for it to set in completely. You feel a little off the 1st week then it goes away around the 2nd week and you start to feel the anxiety / depression fade if it is working for you!
Theirs so many paxil scary stories out there. I even heard it makes you emotionless which is my biggest fear. How much more good does it do than bad? I'm not really depressed or have terrible anxiety, I'm just a bit OCD and it's all I want help for but I'm scared paxil will ruin me so I choose to just live this way.
I would say this as best as I can to a person regardless. Can you live a productive life without constant anxiety and depression or in your cause the OCD getting in the way ? That should answer the next question on should you get on a ssri / antidepressant. If you answer yes to being able to live a normal life skip it and try some CBD I have reviewed in the past ! Actually is recommended for things like OCD / anxiety / depression as I have slight OCD as well. & You don't have to commit. You take it as you will and if it doesn't work at least you didn't commit time to adjusting to the SSRI as they do cause some with drawl depending upon the chemical make up of said persons brain. Hope this helps <3
I use to take 4mg of Klonopin a day. Terrible drug, seems like it's the miracle drug short term but it's not.
50mg Paxil a day is better for my anxiety, depression, Irritability, OCD, ect. I also take 40mg of Adderall a day and 1.50mg of Ativan a day.
When taking paxil or any ssri you should give it a month, you may experience negative side effects until your serotonin levels even out.
Google what serotonin controls, literally everything.
+Smoked the last of my weed So I quit Totally agree as well. CBD = Good for anxiety High THC = not so good if you are an anxious person. Speaking from experience... That's why I love KOI CBD oil... But don't smoke any longer as it attributed to my panic attacks.
+Gawanipony 3 the only thing I would watch out for is your memory. I never really had problems with memory and weed but when I was on one antidepressant (not paxil) I was having terrible short term memory loss. Also I would pay more attention to see if it effects your tiredness or driving skills. Other than that it's a safe combination.
Smoked the last of my weed So I quit
How is Paxil with weed? I smoke seed everyday for anxiety but I don’t want to be stoned all day. If I get on Paxil and keep smoking when I want to, is the combination good ?
Honestly don't be scared because everyone like you is thinking the same way right now! It's a natural response in you being a human to "want to be able to help yourself without meds". It gets easier though!
Yes, but there are many people who have had a completely different outcome. Some have had a disaster brain wise. There is no way to know how an individual will react. We as potential users find videos like yours that present hope, then find ten videos that warn us to stay away from it. I'm so confused, and yes, absolutely terrified. Im speaking of Lexapro in my case.
Lexapro gave me the wobbles. Honestly it is a kind of to speak guessing game. They do now offer swabs to base your DNA I think against meds they can judge have a high possibility rate. But any lower does SSRI can have a good effect on most individuals from the main 4 offered. Paxil, Prozac, Lezapro, Zoloft are the SSRI's that help the most for most so check them out! I went through the line until I found Paxil.
I take 60mg a day and the most it does for me is levels off my emotions a bit I don't cry as often. But I still have every other symptom you talk about I also take OCD meds and twice a day blood pressure pills and Klonopin ....and...I sleep using a CPAP cause I stop breathing when I sleep....I'm only 30
+Gawanipony 3 :( I wish you felt better. One moment you think you are making it then the next moment...well you know. A lot of stuff that is going on and that you feel is hard to say out loud or type really. Sometimes you cant confess to the feelings or the events that caused them. Sending equal love to you as well. I am sorry for what it is you are going through :( I understand :(
hi I am also about to take paxil can you tell me is it really change your personality cause if it's does its actually a positive thing for me cause what I am now I despise it please please please reply mate☺
Similar story here. I heard terrible things about prescription medication and was scared to death of taking it. But thanks to modern science, medicinal drugs such as SSRI’s and Z-Drugs have fewer side effects, less chance of addiction, less chance of tolerance, and can be taken for longer terms. I had gotten minor PTSD from security work which caused me social anxiety and I always assumed people were criminals. So I was a little on edge, I’d ALWAYS assume people were up to devious acts, and I worried I was being judged everywhere I went. Because of my SSRI (Amitryptamine 25mg) I’m feeling normal again. I use to be so anxious I wouldn’t even sleep some nights. Best part is I started taking SSRI’s during my favorite time of the year. Halloween (Oct) Thanksgiving and my Bday (November) and Christmas (December) I can now enjoy my holidays with family and so far I’m sleeping pretty descently. I almost feel like those happy people in the drug commercials. So glad I was born in this time era. Any other era and our doctors would be prescribing us cocaine syrup and snake oil. 😆
Bail Enforcement hi I am also about to take paxil can you tell me is it really change your personality cause if it's does its actually a positive thing for me cause what I am now I despise it please please please reply mate☺
Terri Clark hi I am also about to take paxil can you tell me is it really change your personality cause if it's does its actually a positive thing for me cause what I am now I despise it please please please reply mate☺
Omg my anxiety sky rocketed when I started dating a new guy, it was so reassuring to hear you say that you were crazy about your girlfriends because this is so not like me ! Lol just started Paxil today, hope it helps!
I recently became homeless I was on Latuda and celexa. This combination didn’t work. I went in to a major depression. I didn’t see a way out. I was on Paxil when I was younger so I asked the doctor to put me back on it. The tears stopped and I saw hope again. So now I’m on Paxil 20mg and depakote. I’m bipolar so it’s a great combination for me. Thank you it saved my life as well. 🙏🏾
Waltzin Thank you for you reply! Then I’m afraid that Paxil might mess with the metabolism since you didn’t overeat but still gained a lot. I need to think about what to do. I’ve tried Wellbutrin but I didn’t like it. Maybe I’ll have to go back to my Sertraline (Zoloft) as they say it’s more weight neural..
I will be 100% honest with you it depends on the person. For me I got less motivated about working out but ate the same and gained 50 lbs over this past year. If you look at my more recent videos you might not be able to tell but my face is leaning out again and I am losing weight bec I switched to Wellbutrin (known to help control weight gain and help with weight loss). So if you really like paxil you can combine with a low dosage of Wellbutrin too !
i was on paxil 10 years ago and i loved it..I drank 12 cups of coffee a day became addcited to coffee and no jigtters and i actually felt happy ..so whats my doc do ? take me off it ..he says side effects are dangerous and gave me effexor..so why did he give it to me in the first place it was awful i gave it up ..Sex is impossible on paxil but in general i had much more energy..
I found that for me 10mg was my sweet spot. I was able to take advantage of it completely but still maintain complete function down there. I would advise if you wanted to go back on you could have them mix it with wellbutrin for a helping hand in that. Honestly would fight that though I have never let them dictate my meds. My dad has been on paxil for 20 years w/ lorazepam. They don't even like to prescribe pam drugs anymore but he still gets both filled haha.
Paxil made my life SOOOOO much better! Zoloft is in the same family and that made me go into rages. I begged to have my Paxil back and now I have it back at 40 mg. I was the same way, I still have a hard time leaving home. Your circumstances sound identical to mine!!
Thank you for sharing your story. After having read SO MANY negative stories I was starting to freak out. I felt like I had to start taking meds (again), because my anxiety/ depression and OCD were causing major anxiety attacks. In the past I already tried Zoloft, Citalopram and Effexor. These meds did absolutely nothing for me, except give me side effect. So I started off with a dose of 20 mg Paxil about 7 weeks ago and decided to go for 30 mg 2 weeks ago. It surprised me that after a week I was noticing a positive difference; I was able to leave the house, make small talk, laugh more etc. It's unbelievable, especially seeing after how much I was against taking antidepressants. But it's really a personal journey. What works for one person, might not work for the others. I'm curious about a couple of things. Are you still on the meds? How did you realize this was the right dosage you're taking? I'm having trouble figuring that out, because I feel like I should stop as quick as possible, but on the other hand I feel like I should increase my dosage to see more effects.
I started taking 20mg of Paxil (paroxitine ) excuse if I didn’t spell it right , but at any rate , I started taking Paxil on the 28th of July this year . I was prescribed it the month before but I was so apprehensive ( ANXIETY) about trying I delayed the process . After having a major panic attack and realizing I’m not strong enough to cope with everyday life , which is okay to admit , I gave into the little pink pill . Honestly this was one of the besssst decisions I’ve ever made . They say it is very addictive and I’m okay with that because I’m aware I can’t live my life with out a SSRI and I’m fine with that too , some say Paxil poops out after awhile and sometimes people switch because the effects aren’t as strong . I also hear people have been on it for 16 plus years and still works so it’s all up to your body . Either way I have GAD , OCD as well as panic disorder .With the exception of the headache on the second day I had no side effects (oh dry mouth lol ) , I can’t honestly say I’ve ever felt this stress free because I don’t know what it’s like to not have generalized anxiety disorder . If your scared you should be , your human and something rewired your brain functions so naturally your scared but if you need the help take it AND DONT BE ASHAMED ABOUT IT SHIT ! After you start the Paxil you won’t be worried about what others think anyways . I still sip wine as well indulge in Mary Jane don’t follow my ways but you still can live a little .
Thank you. Your comment helped me a lot. Ive got a prescription for Paxil just sitting on my shelf. I’ve been so scared to take it. I take .5 of Xanax a day and smoke weed but they aren’t working for me. I don’t want to take Xanax unless it’s that rare occasion like flying etc. I need to feel balanced all day. Anyway. Thank you
Thank you so much for making this video and sharing your experience. I was just recently prescribed paxil from my doctor and I haven't taken it yet because I am really scared of the side effects and all the bad stories I heard that happened to some people, but now after watching your video, I feel a little better about it and relieved to hear that it does work. I might go ahead and start it today. Thanks again for posting this video.
Thank you for turning to me for help as well really appreciate it! <3 Don't be worried about the side effects as you will not experience very noticeable things when started other than sleepiness, kinda out of it feeling for a little which is totally normal. Also sorry for the late response I don't continuously get notifications on old videos...Stupid new version of youtube!
Mother Phoenix hi I am also about to take paxil can you tell me is it really change your personality cause if it's does its actually a positive thing for me cause what I am now I despise it please please please reply mate☺
Alex Bulat give it a shot. I'm on 40 mg, before I took it I was throwing things at people, beating people up, etc... Basically I was not a good human being. Paxil saved me, though you do gain weight on it, it's still worth it! Just exercise (what I do).
Hi Byhusna! What paxil does, explaining in a simple way, is to elevate the serotonine in your brain. Paxil and other SSRI are usually used in depression and anxiety disorders. Anxiety causes people to have obssessive and repetitive toughts, lack of sleep, despair, panic attacks, over situations that wouldn't need any of these usually. Depression causes abscence of happiness and pleasure, abscence of hope, crying easily, isolation, suicidal toughts and ultimately suicide attempts. Paxil and others SSRIs make people have less of these symptoms. In other words, makes you view life with more optmism, reavaluate your problems in a more clear and calm way, decreases sadness and make you more comfortable, decreases suicidal toughts. So yes, you can say in a sense it changes your pesonality, it changes the way you see the world, but you will continue to be yourself. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you be accompanied by a doctor to prescribe it and see your reactions.
Bianca Duarte hi I am also about to take paxil can you tell me is it really change your personality cause if it's does its actually a positive thing for me cause what I am now I despise it please please please reply mate☺
Slept all the time to escape the anxiety, Didn't feel comfortable in public / groups at all, shake when I had to face public situations (almost like a continues nervousness), affected my dating as I was obsessive bec I was convinced everyone was out to get me... Quite a lot actually.
See I’m scared to take Paxil because I had a scary experience weaning off of Zoloft and scared of the severe side effects I’ve heard. I have extreme anxiety. And my mind is always worrying and overthinking. Should I give it a try ? Even though Zoloft made me have memory loss after I stopped taking it.?
Dalila Carmona hi I am also about to take paxil can you tell me is it really change your personality cause if it's does its actually a positive thing for me cause what I am now I despise it please please please reply mate☺
Char Xoxo hi I am also about to take paxil can you tell me is it really change your personality cause if it's does its actually a positive thing for me cause what I am now I despise it please please please reply mate☺
Thanks, this is reassuring. I’ve been on Citalopram for 5 years and I felt normal. Anxiety came back 4 months ago and increasing hasn’t helped. Recently had bad OCD and intrusive thoughts pop up. Psychiatrist suggested switching to Paroxetine. Hoping it’ll work out ok and not make things worse.
I think 20mg is too high to start with. I used to get restless leg syndrome and extreme pressure build up feeling.. This was back in the day when they made real Paxil. It paid off the side effects because I got my life back.
Yupp my sweet spot has been 10mg but my dad is 20mg too. After a month if it doesn't seem to help tell your doctor and usually they can go the opposite direction most likely a Prozac or Zoloft. Zoloft works wonders for my sis just gotta figure out which works for you ! :) Prayers are with ya bro it isn't easy but you will definitely be much happier down the road!
You've heard stories so that decides what you take ? Okay well if you are going off that logic I wouldn't read reviews on any of the ssri's bec most people have negative experiences with atleast one or more. It took me from zoloft, to prozac, to lexapro before I found the right one. And why comment if you don't wanna listen to people with actual experience ? Kinda redundant ?
Thomas the Nazi engine well your overall attitude would need to change for anything to work for you. Everyone’s brain is wired different. No one in this world tries something the first time and it works perfect. Find what’s right for you and put in at least 3 weeks for your mind to get acclimated.
On today’s market there are many products with such orientation, but most popular is advertised brand Viagra tablets.
Appropriate tests show a positive result, which is about thirty per cent of all subjects. But here it is necessary to take into account the psychological aspect, since a positive result will not be at the unwillingness of sexual intimacy.
