I am starting a High Dose Vitamin D Experiment. There are some medical professionals that have argued that the vast majority of people in the USA are severely vitamin D deficient. According to some medical researchers the optimal levels of vitamin are much higher than the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for vitamin D. There can be a danger in taking too much vitamin D, but more recent research has indicated that the problem is not too much vitamin D, but a lack of vitamin K2. A lack of vitamin D or low vitamin D levels have been linked to obesity and weight gain. Some people who have experimented with taking larger doses of vitamin D have reported to lose excess fat without dieting or exercise. Vitamin D has been known to metabolize fat and a lack of vitamin D can trigger fat storage, low energy or in other words 'hibernation syndrome'.

Turns out I didn't have chipped enamel, I had something called calculus which was easily removed by a dentist. I'm still doing the D3/K2/A thing though. +mtmrlz

I difficult to say what Exactly works. I do feel great and have loads of energy, but that's likely from a COMBINATION of supplements.

It all makes a lot of sense to me, but I'm always concerned with mega doses. If you experiment it's always better to try it on someone else first Mr. 7 CMJ (if we hear from you in 1 year it probably works)

That's so wonderful Sir. I'm 78 and I suspect I am a captive of Vascular Calcification. It would appear that taking higher levels of D3(really a hormone) and K2 natto sourced would be to my advantage. A little birdie sez relax and enjoy my statis quo. ( I always feel really gr8.) Big Smiles CMJ

You have to take a much higher does of K2 Mk4 than Mk7 ....so ya know. Try to eat more of the foods with good nutrients then all those supplements.

Stop taking your  Vitamin D3 immediately,  it is Cholecalciferol, they use it to kill rats and mice with it.  They mix it with Various seeds to get the mice or rats to eat It.   I use to take 10,000 IU and 50,000 IU a day  of it;  but, not any more.  Please throw it out and get in front of Narrow Band UVB lights';  if,  you can't bath in the sun light during the day.

wrong. You need to take Vitamin K2 with the D. The rat poison has a K2 BLOCKER. Blocking the K2 makes high dose vitamin D deadly. You have to take K2 with the D.

May I pls ask where you got this info? There is SO much false information these days, mostly put out by pharmaceutical companies. They stop testing just as symptoms appears and cherry pick results which favor their end game and even disengage people from studies when they show any negative affects to the trial drug. COMBINED with a Vitamin K2 BLOCKER. That's what makes it poison. High dose vitamin D without K2 is bad.

One should take it as a 10:1 ratio. 10,000 iu's of D3 and 100 mcg of K2/mk7.

Just stopped supplementing with D3 (Colecalciferol). Was taking a modest 15k iu per day (for three years). Blood tests showed mid-range levels. No K2 supplementation, but very healthy diet, high in vegetables (broccolli, spinach, brussels, ect.) Thought I was doing something good for my body. Results: Steady downhill health trend. Developed severe lower back pain, and suspect it may have been kidney related. I have inheirited migraine headaches from mother (thankyou, DNA...you rock). But, gradually the headaches worsened to a debilitating level. Could only work about 6 hrs/day. Was dependent upon Sumatriptan prescription to cope with headaches, and to somewhat function daily. Low energy levels, lethargic physically and mentally. Stopped working out, because the blood pressure spikes, while lifting or running...even during sex, resulted in a headache. So yeah... life sucked. Then I watched a video that linked D3 and rat poison. Was shocked. I have not taken the D3 (Colecalciferol) supplements for 6 days now. (My wife used to put 3 5000 iu gel tabs in my Kale, banana, blueberry, apple, smoothie she makes for me every morning... If you don't have a wonderful wife...well, you need one. ) So....after stopping the D3 for less than a week, here are my personal observations: Headaches are markedly reduced. I even had a couple of days that were headache free, with no meds. Kidney/ Lower back pain is going away slowly. Much better now. I do not need to use the heating pad to cope with pain. Energy levels are Way-Up! I work for myself, buying homes and renovating them for resale or rental. I have a renewed vigor for physical work now. I can bend over to pick up a drill motor or piece of lumber, without the anticipated thumping pain in my head. I am starting my workdays sooner, and working longer before feeling tired. My mood is improved beyond what words could convey. I joked with my wife two days ago: "I feel so good today, I don't even know how to act." I am no doctor, but my own experience showed me that the only healthy source of vitamin D is via direct sunlight. You simply could not pay me enough to resume my D3 supplements. Would things have been different, if I had added K2? I honestly don't know. My gut feeling is to get adequate amounts of natural sunlight (without overdoing it, of course) and eat healthy, and get plenty of exercise. (This is what I did before starting the D3, and is what I have resumed doing now.) As before, I feel good and am gradually improving as I recover from my inadvertent rat poison encounter. Want more information on D3/Colecalciferol and wish to verify that it is the active ingredient in rat poison? (I did too, so I researched it myself.) Google: TeraD3 Blox ... manufactured by Bell Laboratories. When you find the product, look at the active ingredient. ( There is only one.) It will show Colecalciferol 0.075 percent. Then, run to your vitamin cabinet and check your D3 supplement lable for the same ingredient. If they are a match... throw it in the trash immediately. Your body will thank you for doing so.

K2 (MK7) does NOT come from green vegetables. Vitamin K aka K1 comes from green vegetables. K and K2 are not even the same vitamin. Do some research on K2 (mk7).

Marshalllhielper, I did the same thing you did, then listened to Dr. Stephanie Seneff, Morley Robbins, etc., and realized consuming high doses of vitamin D is not the way to go. I kept thinking that how in the world am I going to get my vitamin D from sun, almost impossible unless you are retired in Florida or Arizona, etc. Then I discovered the Sperti vitamin D lamp, got it at Promolfe. It is FDA approved for effectiveness, check out their site. Now I can get my vitamin D the way nature intended, along with foods that have some natural vitamin D. BTW, my back pain got better, as well.

I heard you say that vitamin D3 is rat. Wow so it's Cholecalciferol which is the first ingredient in rodent poison. I did what your doing and I had kidney and liver pain and issues. well good luck I hope it works for. k vitamin is fine but the sun is the safest D3 source.

High dose of vitamin c= less depression, enhanced sleep. Also included is major constipation. If you don't mind last months food sticking around in your intestine, I guess the benefit outweighs the risk.

I have been experimenting with D3 for 6 years and I have had a GREAT immune correction for severe allergies,colds and flues. Neighbor has stage 4 2 cancers on 10,000 and still alive 2 years later. I have blood tests to check levels and I am now at 120 namol/l's US conversion nanograms = 49.7.

Do not take D supps it's dangerous,  start consuming whole dairy it's a big lie that it's unhealthy . Everyone's D levels are low because everyone quit drinking "whole" milk and cheese made  rom "whole" milk . How could something whole be bad are not whole grains good whole dairy is one of the 4 original food groups as well as whole grains . Is anyone listening to this revelation? I tell you the truth !!!

These days, I don't drink any milk No surprise...my calves have shrunk and I now suck at basketball. Milk definitely plays a vital role in the growth of calves.

Not trying to come across as harsh, Bill. But, if you look at the facts with an objective, unbiased view.. the vitamin D slump in modern society is not caused by a lack of dairy products. Take a look at the bigger picture. Most of the work that people do, is performed in manufacturing plants, cubicles in office buildings, ect. Our education system, from kindergarten to college masters programs are indoors. Few are lucky to have a large window view of the sunlit outdoors, let alone any access to natural sunlight for the majority of their daily lives. We are starving for natural sunlight, not cow's milk. And if you are interested in a religious perspective on the whole matter, you might consider the reasons why the "medical knowledge leaders" are pushing hundreds of sunblocking lotions, creams, and make-up products; while warning that sunlight is dangerous for our health. Nature seems to have been designed to provide everything we need in natural moderation. Suckling from a cow is not natural, no matter how you slice it. The D3 that they add to dairy products (in the form of Colecalciferol is dangerous, as is evident by its use in rat poison, as the only "active ingredient". Add some sunlight to your life. You'll feel better, and live longer. Best regards.

Some Doctors say you can take upto 50,000 IU of d3 in combination with 500 mcg of k2 for severe problems, I started at 10,000 IU and built upto 50,000 IU d3 and then very slowly lowered it to 20,000 IU with 100 mcg k2 for each 10,000 IU of d3 ... has worked very well, it's reversing major problems with soft tissue calcification in joints

I workout 1 hour a day at the gym 6 times a week. From 2007 to 2011, I was at the gym 3 to 4 hours a day and had 7 to 8% bodyfat. And that was in my late fifties.

D3 is fat soluble and stores in your body. Key point ..You can take a whole months supply in a day if you had to...Key point..Another key point is you need to get blood levels done to find your D value ,then math out the above 2 key points. Also even if you supplemented on D3 with capsules and you get sun exposure as well you will not over do it as your body will cycle off its own synthesis of D3 ..But don't smash out huge amounts of capsules without knowing your values..Will you learn anything doing that ,of course not.

I rub it onto my stomach and absorb it just fine now and my levels are slowly coming up .. warfarin and cumadin are blood thinners that are also in rat poison ..it causes the rats to bleed to death .. but thats definately not in d3 lol..

WRONG. D3 with a K2 BLOCKER is rat poison. The key to make D3 bad is to use the K2 BLOCKER. That is why you ADD K2 SUPPLEMENT so the body uses the D3 correctly where and as needed.

Hey- I've been supplementing with high dose D3 with lots of K2 but I ended up with symptoms of hypothyroidism... it turns out I gave myself a Vitamin A deficiency. I ended up taking a megadose of A & my symptoms have gone away & now I'm taking equal amounts of A & D with the K2 & I'm fine. In fact I'm losing weight! But my question is have you heard of this that the fat soluble vitamins should be taken together or they will cause a deficiency or toxic symptoms in the other? So far I've heard of other people with this problem when they take high vit D & so far only women. Thanks!

theres no damn shortcuts to lose fat, or fat rolls or overweightness from your body. Stop; eating garbage shit, watch-count your calories, fats, carbs..eat protein rich foods...cut the sugar/ cut the sugar! and exercise.....anyone who does NOT do these very basic things will always be overweight..ALWAYS! pills, or shortcuts are3 exactly that.....pills, and shortcuts! They will not do any good in the long run....some may seem to work at first...but I guarantee its very tempory at best..and you will probably end up even bigger!

Well, since this guy won't update us on his experiment, I'll update you on mine. I was diagnosed with low D in May of '16- I was at 15 on a scale of 18-72. The Dr. prescribed 2000 IU daily of Vit D3. I've been on it for 14 weeks now, and essentially other than a lift in mood, nothing else has happened. I THOUGHT I had lost some weight at first, but it was only around 4 pounds, which is what normal people fluctuate day to day. Yeah, 4 pounds is four pounds, but it's disappointing when you have a huge amount of weight to lose to begin with and it doesn't want to seem to budge, and this just might be water weight. So that's that.

When you followed up with a new blood vit d test, what was your level? Vitamin D3, K2, A, magnesium, and calcium are all synergistic. As a plant eater you are surely getting enough calcium in your diet. 80% of the US population is deficient in magnesium. Try magnesium oil transdermally. You cannot overdose on mg through this method. Try sun exposure to increase D3. You cannot od on D3 via sun exposure. Get the free app called d minder. K2 mk7 is the preferred supplement because it persists in the body longer than other forms. It is derived from natto, fermented soy beans. Vitamin A can be a challenge for those who do not eat grass fed meats, organ meats especially. Have you considered elimination of grains and other complex carbohydrates. Periodic cycling into and out of ketosis helps many loose body fat. Fat, use it to lose it.

if you take mega doses of d3 take it with grass fed dairy. grass fed dairy and meat and pastured eggs have k2. D3 needs fat and cholesterol to absorb better.

+Steven Miller yes. I live in Finland which is even further north than Wisconsin. Ive understood that here you can get vitamin d from sun only may-august between 11-15. Otherwise none. Maybe something similar to this is the case in Wisconsin.

+Keskinarkaus absolutely, I'm a runner but I live in Wisconsin. I run shirtless one to 2 hours everyday all summer. When I first had my D checked I was confident I would be well above 50 naturally, I was 17. My Dr said that wasn't uncommon at all. No with supplements I at 49 as of last test. So that's with 10,000 MG of D3 and s couple hours a day at high noon shirtless outside with no sunscreen. My Dr told me if you live north of Atlanta it is virtually impossible to get the D3 you need from sunshine and in my case he is 100% correct.

This experiment has almost no point. First you have to go to the doctor before the experiment measure the amount of vitamin D3 you have and do the test again when you finish the experiment. To see how your body absorbs Vitamin D3. That way you can see if the increase of vitamin d had effect on the body then see the weight difference. Anyway would love to hear the update

Man made Vitamin D3 is a rodenticide (RAT POISON) and not good for human health... Yeah....taking K2 with D is important...very important. I've recently forgotten that. So...as a 210# man...it took me 6 months, taking 2-3k IU qd to get my titer from 13 ng/ml to 54ng/ml....take note of that. Also...take the Vitamin K2!!

I think it was a Dutch study that found that MK-7 actually had more benefit in terms of allocating Calcium into the bone. MK4 is apparently more like K1. Look up their study. It was very detailed.

"High dose" starts at 50,000 IU/day. Up to 40.000 IU/day long term use is considered safe. These are amounts the body makes if the skin is exposed to UV-B. I have been taking 20,000 IU/day since 2012, excluding sunny summer days. Blood level is around 50 ng/ml. That is not 'high dose'. If you go beyond 50,000 IU/day additional K2 makes sense imho. For weight loss, get the fat and protein down to 5% calories max each and exercise for an hour before brakfast and after dinner. I was obese (BMI 34), hypertensive and prediabetic. All gone.

Karo French I’ve got a prescription from my doc, it only contains 12 x 50,000IU. The idea is to take the first 10 pills one per day and take the remaining 2 over one month. It’s a large dose for loading purposes. After that u can just use cheap 5000IU pills daily. This is one method.

Karo French Vit d3 dosage varies greatly from one person to another. The critical indicator is the vitamin d blood test. A chronic infection will use up vast quantities of vitamin d.

Magnesium is absolutely essential to add. I take 10000 iu d3 per day longterm with k2 but if I don't take magnesium I am prone to feel the fact that d3 interacts with magnesium (depletes it) within weeks.

In one of Dr Joe Prendergast's videos he mentions the use of 50k D3 once a day for a week was considered as a possible treatment for bird flu when that was going to be a problem some years ago. His experience, and others, seems to show that high doses of D3 are not harmful if taken over a relatively short period of time. But then who needs to fight off viruses, bacteria, etc. with drugs and mega-vitamins when they have Spooky! Good luck and keep everyone updated on your experience.

Vitamin K2 is the cure for shin splints, tooth decay, kidney stones, gull stones, heart disease, heart attacks and makes kids jaw form properly so they don't need braces or wisdom teeth pulled out. The earlier you give someone k2 the better of they will be. Vitamin K2 & D has dramatically helped my aunt function after she was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. It has helped my neighbor and slowly get better from his kidney stone surgery and mom not have a reoccurred of kidney stones. My teeth have gotten straighter and I got out of braces in record time. Last time I visited the dentist it was the shortest cleaning session I have ever had. Right away saying "Its clean good brushing habits" In the past I used to have severe shin splints from XC. I thought I tried every vitamin supplement from vitamin A to F. But then I remembered about hearing something about vitamin K2. I thought na I eat a ton of broccoli. But after researching about vitamin K2 I realized, I was terribly wrong and that this was truly the missing vitamin in the American diet. With in 3 weeks my shin splints were cured. And then I went through last years track season and this years XC season without a single shin splint.

Go vegan & let food be thy medicine. If not take whole food based supplements or juice fruits&veggies alongside synthetic vitamins because the body needs enzymes to make the complete vitamin and will leach it from other parts of the body. I went vegan a year ago and never felt or looked better in my life. Eat like a hog and wake up with abs.

It really matters if it's from a whole food source and organic. Research into the vitamin D3 from the brands Megafood, Carlson, and garden of life. best ones by far and no need to take as much cause it absorbs better than crappy brands.

I personally take 2,000-,5000 IUs of D3 depending on whether I've actually got some good sun on my skin, which is almost never unless I go running.
