Dr. Berg talks about the quality of sleep and your pulse rate. Normally your pulse rate should be 72. If your pulse rate is too high (tachycardia), it will be keep your body from fully relaxing and drifting into a deeper sleep. I believe it is your pulse rate that ultimately prevents a good night sleep. What causes a high pulse rate? It could be stress, it could be nutrition. But here are the factors:
1. Low potassium. This could come from a lack of dietary potassium because most people do not consume enough vegetable or salad. It can also be insulin resistance, in which cause your cells are not absorbing minerals, esp, potassium.
2. Low vitamin B1 could also raise your pulse rate. Refined flour products or refined sugar will deplete B vitamins and this is why you see "enriched flour" in many of the breads, pasta, cereals, etc. They enrich it with synthetic B-vitamins.
3. Hyperthyroid condition. If your thyroid is working too fast, your pulse rate will definitely spike. If this is the problem, then you should avoid iodine or sea kelp and avoid bile salts (or the Gallbladder Formula). Bile salts in general speed up the thyroid and you don't want to raise your pulse rate higher than it's already raised.
4. Acidosis. When the blood pH drops and becomes less alkaline, and more acidic, oxygen drops and the pulse rate can raise. This can happen when you go through Ketosis if you do not consume enough vegetables (which are alkaline) and all protein and fat. It can also happen in diabetics where their body is in a state of ketoacidosis. Also too much acids from apple cider vinegar or kombucha tea can acidify you as well.

Can we add potassium supplement if we do not meet our potassium goal in the day? The bottle tells you to do only one capsule per day... 99mg ,But can we do a dose in the morning and another at night or even 3 times per day? I am not trying to skip my veggies but I am very busy all the time and usually never meet my potassium or magnesium requirements? Even though I eat salads throughout the day , I feel it's not enough according to Dr Bergs recommendations... Help!
I've been on Keto for almost 2 months now and I'm still waking up at night, usually to pee. I know I have enough fat, electrolytes, b vitamins, and I exercise at least 30 minutes a day. So what should I do to improve my sleep?
This damn potassium intake. I'm always 1600-1800 off 4700mg . Haven't picked up cream of tartar or a potassium chloride seasoning yet. My pulse is high right now and I can't shut my brain off. It's 330am. I was so tired earlier then got up to wash my face, brush my teeth and now I'm so restless. What am I to do? All I have available right away with potassium is bone broth. I can't make food at this hour. I'm just talking to myself . ..I realize this.
I notice this crap... when I didn't feel like in my way to caught a good rest I felt the pillow and vein in my neck pumping, is started to feel nervious because I knew something was not ok, couple of months back...
Dr. Berg, I have thyroid issues and have had my gallbladder out. I ordered a bottle of Gallbladder Formula because of no gallbladder. Just watched your video that said if you have thyroid issues, don't take bile salts. So...should I or shouldn't I take the Gallbladder Formula when it arrives?
Can I go keto if I have adrenal fatigue? I have literally no tolerance for carbs now, and going keto has been the only thing that has helped. But now I'm worried about my electrolytes. Adrenal fatigue + keto = impossible to maintain electrolytes.
I don't have a sleeping problem, but somehow 6 hours a night is enough. If I sleep longer For 2 nights I won't sleep at all the night after. Exercize helps, but still I am jealous of people who can sleep 9 hours every night.
I noticed that people who eat high carb diets, they seem to need a lot more sleep.
sir plzz help me...I've requested you many times to solve my problem. I am doing intermittent fasting from past 5 weeks. I have severe pain in my limbs (and in joints as well) and it is really unbearable sometimes. and i lost about 4 kilograms of my body weight but I am not losing inches. Am I losing my muscle mass? please reply sir I beg you to plzz help me.
Miro Kirschner yes that is true, but it's not so much a craving as it is just missing what we used to enjoy. It's kind of like Dr Berg's recipes for keto bombs. I thought the same thing when I saw those. I don't make them because it's an entire batch. And his wife Karen even says they are gone in no time! I don't need anything like that around winking at me!
My suggestions fit wholly with keto-friendly, no sugar gram carbs at all. We can enjoy something! I drink jasmine green tea in the mornings and this is what gets me through to my window of eating time, 2-6. It is an immune booster, hydrates me and gives me what I need to get me day going until I can eat. The other drinks are for later in the day. They all work with the keto plan. It's makes it as if we are not denying ourselves anything at all, esp if we truly want results with this. It is all part of the keto success, which can be enjoyable too!
I have slow pulse rate. Cannot sleep. It's usually in the higher 50's, low 60's.
I eat low carb 20 g, always under.
Hypothyroidism here 😣
Thanks ~ more info to juggle
Been keto almost 5 months faithfully.
I take potassium chloride powder daily.
Magnesium. Sole water. Vit. C. B Complex. Milk Thistle. Zinc. D3, K2. Niacin.
Protein at 50 g.
Rest of calories from fats.
*also: eating before bed can create that fast pulse rate ●AVOID●
In order to get the resting pulse rate, we need to do it first thing in the morning, after a night of sleep. Any activity can increase the rate and effect the result. So do it before getting out of bed from a night of sleep.
Here's a good one for ya Doc: I'm a fit man in my early 30s, built like an 80s action hero and I do IF everyday, but I sometimes like eating something like celery for breakfast just to keep my potassium and minerals where I want. In what way does this affect my fast? Should I wait til later to eat instead
Please let me know how you can tell if your thyroid is out of whack because everything that I've ever read says that you go to the doctor they test you for the thyroid hormones but it comes back normal for a lot of people when they actually have a thyroid problem so how do you know if you have one for sure when the tests don't come back accurate?.
I have read time and time again about the same problem people get tested but the doctor only tests for the two hormones and don't test for the other one that shows how much free T3 that you have in your blood and that T4 is not absorbed it just helps to convert the T3 I see this a lot when I read about it on different sites.
So what's the answer to try to figure out if you have a thyroid issue?.
PatrickDAllen1 I have those symptoms and even more I'm tired a lot I'm going to do what you recommended.
I don't want to go to the doctor because I went to a doctor before for some other reason long story short he was high on drugs and almost killed me I had to stay in the hospital for months because of what he did to me.
Too bad Dr Berg doesn't have an office around my town I would trust him.
Thanks for the information.
There are lots of self-diagnosis tests you use to figure out if your thyroid is low. A common sign is cold extremities (ears, arms, and legs) which never seem warm, even in the heat of summer. Another good sign is, you vigorously exercise, but despite that, do not sweat at all. You can take a basal body temperature by placing a thermometer under your armpit first thing in the morning before you even get out of bed and measuring. It should be somewhere between 98 - 99 degrees. But these are justbplaces to start. You should see if you can find a naturopath or functional medicine doc who will order a more complete set of thyroid labs (so more than just TSH and t4) if you are truly concerned.
Usually, they test thyroid stimulating hormone (tsh) and t4. Usually, if tsh is high, t4 will be low. But even if you have low t4, if your t3 (active thyroid hormone) levels are within range, you may NOT have a problem, but the doctors think you do. On the other hand, your tsh and t4 levels may be normal and so the doctors think you do not have a thyroid issue, but the active form of the hormone, t3, is not getting converted by the liver, and this presents as the symptoms of low thyroid.
The pituitary gland makes tsh which tells the thyroid to make more t4, but t4 isn't really used by the body to do much of anything. When t4 gets into the liver, the liver converts the t4 into the active t3 which is the form of the hormone that actually regulates your metabolism, body heat, energy, etc. A lot of the time, you may have a normal thyroid (producing plenty of t4) but very low levels of t3 which indicates a LIVER and NOT a thyroid problem because this is where t3 is made. There is lots of confusion among medical doctors abut this as many endocrinologists will almost never test for t3 levels.
Gr8 info! 👏👏👏👏
But I had HALF of my overactive thyroid taken out...in MY Case, is iodine and sea kelp bad for me as well...and will juicing cruciferous vegetables have a negative effect on me somehow?
I had that boom boom boom boom, til I discovered Dr Berg and started eating a ton of green leavy vegetable. Yesterday I just made a broccoli salad and didn't eat my 225 gr of leafy veggies and I slept real poorly. Dr Berg, you're the MAN!
Everything makes so much sense, it is also simple to make necessary changes for improved health outcomes, although ‘simple’ does not always equate to ‘easy’. Planning and organisation of lifestyle with Dr Berg is key to avoid degradation of body, soul and social interaction. Thank you again!
Calcification can occur in many ways, even through your pineal gland, the root cause of the problem you are trying to state here is caused by GMO food, and we know this, the only way to heal from somthing that painful etc is to eat organic only period correct? Raja Shahja, but yes it is a real bad problem.
dear Source, no idea who upvoted your above comment, but Calcification is a major problem today, Dr Berg has solutions for it but that dont mean its not wide spread; just look at the number of High BP cases, even worst is loosing weight while one has extensive calcified/hardened blood vessels, so all that cholesterol from fat loss gets coated inside of all blood vessels. i can imagine the body starving at capillary levels due to that obstruction, very dangerous.
On today’s market there are many products with such orientation, but most popular is advertised brand Viagra tablets.
Appropriate tests show a positive result, which is about thirty per cent of all subjects. But here it is necessary to take into account the psychological aspect, since a positive result will not be at the unwillingness of sexual intimacy.
Cialis is yet another pill for impotence. Cialis and Viagra can be called brothers. Effectiveness of tablet lasts for about 30 hours. Cialis action when compared to Viagra, is faster. Cialis acts on the walls of blood vessels, preventing them from relaxing, thanks to the influence of substances that trigger it.
Cialis is admissible to the use of alcoholic beverages. The drug takes effect quickly, and the action is very long. What is best Cialis Viagra or Levitra
