You forgot to add in the cost of the saw and all of the other tools used. I got some generic squat stands from ebay and threw some sand bags at the base for stability. $70 bucks spent and I didn't have to source any power tools or spend an entire afternoon of my time(which I can never get back) building it.
However, this is a great project if you're a big time DIY'er and enjoy wrenching and tinkering on stuff.
Bro I have three questions
1. How much maximum weight it can handle or how much max you have used?
2. Do you still use it?
3. Can I use thick metal pipes (2-3) inches diameter? I'm thinking of using only two pipes ,one for squat one for bench press. And stoppers welded on them. Is it gonna work?
AverageGuyFitness good morning bro yeah I still use it I've had about 450 pounds on there with no issues I would assume you could go heavier than that but you might want to put more stabilization on them or at least make sure you got a spotter with u yeah you could definitely use metal and I still use it all the time
How about some safety glasses for the little girl so she doesn't get concrete dust and shit in her eyes....and some metal rods through the bottom of the boards would help secure it better in the concrete

I'm 5 foot 10 what I recommend is actually lining everything up with clamps and everything just to see what would be comfortable for you but I kind of just used standard measurements that were online to see what a bench and squat rack are usually placed at and it actually worked out quite well for me so I use those I hope this information helps you please subscribe and share our videos thanks again for watching

If I build it to 2 meter high and put a barbell on top for a strict pull up no kipping and stuff.Hypothetically,would there be a problem with a stability because it's too high and need more balance than the base (concrete) has to offer ?
alexisgareth yeah that's and actually good idea if you have the space for it maybe screw down both of them II like A5 by 2 foot section piece of plywood and that would be even better because it couldn't tip over I don't know seriously though let me know what you think of because I need to make one too I'm going through shoulder surgery on Friday but after that I'm going to be getting pretty big into the pull-ups again after I heal so I want to be ready with the equipment so if you think of something that ends up working good for you let me know so I can either make a video before or after you make yours LOL but I'm actually curious to see what you come up with and of course thanks for watching please subscribe and share videos and I have to be honest and now you're probably going to be forcing my mind to go make a pull up rack LOL damn you😂😂
alexisgareth if I was going to do something like that I would probably use something like a larger bucket and then fill it with concrete like a wash tub or something you could try it depending on how big of a guy you are but I don't think it would work for me but it actually might help with you controlling the movement love your pull-ups and in turn getting more results
I lift heavy alone but I have a pair of solid lock out platforms that have the bar sit just at chest level if I fail on a given bench press. I am planning on building a backyard squat rack as well and will be adding in a failsafe for sure to catch the bar if I fail. I would agree that you should avoid lifting alone unless you have something to catch the weight in the event of failure that is overbuilt to be stronger and sturdier then you will ever need so if something happens you are 100% confident you will still be just fine. I have failed many times on my set up and when I do I just safely slide out under the bar, regroup and start at it again. This is a good set up I may consider for myself with some solid advice as well. Thanks for posting this.

I am currently working on this project. I was concerned about adding the cement, afraid I wouldn't be able to get the posts plumb and level. This video gave me hope lol.
Do you feel relatively safe squatting with these? ie. individual stands shifting or tipping

Thanks for the response. My squat max is 240lb so I didn't really buy into the naysayers about how wooden squat stands are unreliable. Like any piece of equipment, there will be a time to upgrade but I feel this type of stand will suit my current needs. Now I just need to set them in the concrete, wait for them to dry, and get back under the bar!
I've had about three hundred and fifty pounds on them and I haven't felt any kind of trouble or anything I mean obviously you don't want to throw the wait at the racks but for the most part it's been perfectly fine and as far as Plumbing Louisville I just used a 2-foot level to make sure everything was straight if you have any other questions or need help figuring anything out feel free to comment or message thanks please subscribe
