The best way to lose 5 pounds of body fat is a question that I get almost every day. People want to know if burpees are the best exercise for getting the job done. Others want to know if battle ropes or even jump rope are better at burning calories and burning fat. While all of them are at the top of the list for the most calories burned on a minute per minute basis, they still are not the best way to lose five pounds of body fat the fastest.
In this video, I show you how you can never outtrain a bad diet. If you refuse to pay attention to the quality of your nutrition and the foods you put in your mouth you are never going to have the low levels of body fat that you desire long term. Sure, anyone can follow a short term diet that allows them to lose fat for a few weeks however if you can’t keep it up then you will never be satisfied with your body fat levels over the course of the year.
Mistakenly, people look to exercises as the best way to drop body fat. While you definitely need to train, achieving fat loss is and always will be better accomplished via the right nutrition plan. This goes back to the comment about never being able to outtrain a bad diet. You simply cannot make up enough calorie burn via exercise (even the most intense) to overcome bad food choices. For instance, our very own Jesse is a big sugar fanatic and a worshiper of gummy bears. Just 17 measly gummy bears has 150 calories. Even if Jesse were to do 10 minutes straight of high effort high intensity burpees, he would only burn 120 calories and he would lose that battle with a net calorie gain of 30.
Now Jesse, being a hardgainer, is not concerned at the moment with his body fat levels. He was the only one wiling to do the burpees while I talked during the video being the good sport that he is. If you are looking to burn 5 lbs of fat however, you need to be sure that you are paying attention to what really matters. Your nutrition will always be at the top of the priority list for getting that job done.
Now, does that mean that conditioning exercises like burpees, jump rope, battle ropes and split squat jumps don’t have a place in your workout program if you need to lose fat? Not at all. What’s a good way for losing fat like Jessie did while in the military, I only have control of 1 meal a day because I’m still in training but I get free time every day, what would be a good way to maximize my results
About 3 months ago i got a stomach bug and wasnt able too eat much without throwing it back up but i drank a lot of water like i normally do and at that time i was in the high 240s if not 250. I kept going hard in weightlifting at my high school everyday and i got used to not eating but one meal a day. now i only weigh 204 pounds and im stronger than i was 3 months ago.any ideas as to how i managed to loose that much fatt and gain muscle while hardly eating?
I used to be at 12% when I never worked out but one year later after I started workout 5 to 6 days a week, 2 hours a day, and bulk, I ended up with 18%. I also do battle ropes and muay thai, so I suspect my eating plan is the problem? Please help if anyone knows this

When I first started training I wheighed 97 kilo's (i'm 190 cm tall)but then I began to do intermitten fasting and I cleaned up my diet.
Now about 5 months later I wheigh 82 kilo's so cleaning up your diet really works!

High knees running in place seems to give me a higher HR than burpees, or skipping rope. I haven't done this exercise until now, and will see how much fat I can burn by doing so. The advantage is I can doo high knees runs everywhere anytime, even in -10 degree weather.
This is so true. For fat loss your diet has to be slightly under what your body needs and the cardio just adds a few extra calories. Plus when cutting if you do too much and too hard cardio your hunger is going to get harder to control.
this was one of the more entertaining videos I've seen on your channel. I think you would attract a much larger audience if you incorporated more humor and just overall personality into your videos. The information is invaluable, but the presentation is dry.
I detest running so I choose to walk trails because I enjoy it. Sure, it burns only about 5-7 (depending on intensity) calories a minute but on average I walk about 3 hours a day. Over the last year, I averaged 20k steps a day ... and did not start to loose weight until I controlled my diet. Jeff is absolutely right, you can not out train a bad diet.
For the last 25 days, I have been running about negative 2k calories daily ... I am down about 12 lbs. Go ahead a make fun of me for walking as much as I do, but for me it beats running. In addition to my walking, I have started the AX-1 program ... that starts my day off by burning about 400-500 calories before I have breakfast.

I was 97 kilos when I decided I wanted to see my abs and get fit or healthy I used to get headaches palpertations all the time and had this unquenchable thirst all the time, I started training on the 1st of July this year until present day, I'm now 82 kilos that's 33 pounds buggered off. I do have to admit I'm on the keto diet or lifestyle and cut an enormous amount of calories from my diet, but I train nearly every day, for me personally it's the only thing that has worked and I'm 42 years old now. I'm the same weight I was in my early 20s and still have I reckon about 8 or 9 pounds to go. I gone from a size 38 to 40 inch waist to a 34 inch waist. And yes I went cold turkey, I guess I'm determined.
