Ezekiel bread is better, but if you're trying to lose weight, hold off. Both white and whole wheat both have the same glycemic index rating. Both will also increase your bad cholesterol. The gluten that creates so many problems are also in both. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional and natural methods. 21 Ways to lower cholesterol naturally | Lower cholesterol fast & quickly cholesterol is not necessarily a dirty word. There are two types of cholesterol: LDL (low-density lipoproteins) and HDL (high-density lipoproteins). LDL is the bad one, High cholesterol increases your risk of heart disease and heart attacks. Medications can help improve your cholesterol. But if you'd rather first make lifestyle changes to improve your cholesterol, then try these 21 Ways to lower cholestrerol naturally 1 Soya Foods Soya Foods and DrinksBeing naturally low in saturated fat, soya foods help lower cholesterol. The special proteins in soya also appear to influence how the body regulates cholesterol too. Studies show you can lower your cholesterol by around 6% by including as little as 15g soya protein per day. 2. Say yes to seafood Fatty fish high in omega-3s, like salmon, tuna, sardines, and mackerel, are loaded with heart-healthy benefits, and can ultimately help lower LDL cholesterol. “Keep it varied, though, work a variety of fatty fish into your diet a few times per week.” 3 exercise Exercise helps lower LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol. Moderate-to-high intensity aerobic activity and high-rep, low-weight resistance training have both been found to be exceptionally effective in balancing cholesterol levels, but any kind of movement is better than nothing. Basically Find something you like doing and start doing it or do more of it,” 4 An Apple a Day Really May Keep the Doctor Away My grandmother Catherine always loved to say, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. It turns out she was probably right. A 2011 study by researchers from Florida State University found that older women who ate apples every day reduced LDL cholesterol levels by 23% within six months and increased HDL cholesterol levels by 4%. The apple eating women also lost an average of 3.3 pounds. 5. Eat more polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats Both polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids help lower LDL. Most plant-derived oils, including canola, safflower, sunflower, olive, grapeseed, and peanut oils, contain both. Fatty fish (as described earlier), seeds, nuts, avocados and soybeans are also great sources. 6. Avoid refined sugars and grains Whole grains are another good source of fiber. Instead of refined flour and white rice, try whole-wheat flour and brown or wild rice. Old-fashioned oatmeal is also a good choice, but not the quick-cooking versions, which have had much of the fiber processed out. 7 Make Sure Your Thyroid is Functioning Normally Hypothyroidism (under active thyroid) often correlates with high cholesterol levels. Talk to your health care provider about checking your thyroid. Improving thyroid function may help to naturally reduce cholesterol levels. See How To Heal Thyroid With Foods – Nourish and Detoxify. 8 Enjoy Some Garlic A study published in January 2012 analyzed 26 clinical trials and found that garlic was more effective than a placebo in reducing cholesterol levels, specifically total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Garlic did not appear to have a significant effect on HDL and LDL. However Garlic is also anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-fungal, and may help lower blood pressure and improve liver function. Fresh garlic packs more punch than cooked. Learn how to grow garlic. 9 go nuts Nuts are packed full of heart-healthy nutrients such as protein, soluble fibres, plant sterols, vitamin E, magnesium, potassium, zinc and copper. Because they are also naturally rich in unsaturated fats and low in saturated fat they can help lower cholesterol as part of a diet low in saturated fats 10 oat and barley - Oats and Barley Super Food Oats BarleyBoth oats and barley are rich in a form of soluble fibre called beta glucan. Once eaten beta glucan forms a gel which helps bind cholesterol in the intestines and prevent it from being absorbed. 11 fruits and vegetables Super Foods Fruit & VegtablesAll fruits and vegetables are low in saturated fat so eating more helps to keep saturated fat intake low. Fruit and vegetables are also a valuable source of cholesterol lowering soluble fibres. Try to include at least one pulse (beans, peas, lentils) everyday. Other rich sources of soluble fibre include sweet potato, aubergene, okra (ladies finger), broccoli, apples, strawberry and prunes. 12. Foods fortified with sterols and stanols. Sterols and stanols extracted from plants gum up the body's ability to absorb cholesterol from food. Companies are adding them to foods ranging from margarine and granola bars to orange juice and chocolate. They're also available as supplements. 13 Get More Vitamin C As an antioxidant, vitamin C helps to reduce inflammation. But in 2008 a study showed a significant decrease in serum LDL cholesterol and tryglyceride concentrations with the supplementation of at least 500mg/d of vitamin C. Some good sources of vitamin C include:

For more info: https://draxe.com/brown-rice-nutrition/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Sept-2015&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=rice Today I am answering the question, “Is rice healthy?” and explaining the difference between white rice and brown rice. My answer is that it really depends on you. I will show you the pros and cons of rice and go over what I believe is the healthiest rice today. There is a debate today about if you should consume rice or not: ⁃ The paleo diet community says to stay grain-free and therefore that rice is not healthy ⁃ Chinese medicine followers and vegans think rice can be an incredible superfood I believe there is validity to both but it depends on the person and the preparation of the rice. Rice to stay away from: Refined White Rice (This is not jasmine or basmati rice but the sticky white rice from fast food or Chinese restaurants.) Rice Cons: • Fiber, minerals and vitamins have been removed. • Study shows that people are twice as likely to develop diabetes as opposed to those eating whole grain brown rice. • Contains phytic acid (enzyme inhibitor) which keeps you from absorbing and digesting vitamins and minerals. • Contains proteins that are difficult to digest Rice Pros: • Whole grain brown rice is high in B3 which is good for heart health. • Whole grain brown rice is high in selenium which supports the thyroid and kidneys. • Certain types of rice contain GABA, a neurotransmitter that can support the brain and help reduce anxiety as well as support metabolism. So ... is rice healthy? Is brown rice healthy? It depends on how it is prepared. I believe if rice is soaked and sprouted, it unlocks the vitamins and minerals versus most rices that aren’t sprouted. I personally consume an organic rice from the company, True Roots. It is a germinated brown rice (soaked and sprouted) which kills off phytic acid and is easier to digest. In Chinese medicine, look up “qi” or “chi.” They believe that short grain brown rice increase your body’s “qi” which is your body’s life source and energy. It is considered to be one of the #1 healing foods. I suggest my patients make a “congee” with chicken bone broth, brown rice and vegetables such as carrots and celery. This chicken vegetable rice soup is healing and nourishing to the body. In conclusion, is rice healthy? Yes, it can be if you are doing sprouted rice that is traditionally prepared. Simply put, stay away from white refined rice that is void of vitamins and minerals and can cause a spike in your blood sugar and insulin levels. *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. Reduce Your Cholesterol In just 8 Steps! High cholesterol increases your risk of heart disease and heart attacks. You can improve cholesterl with medications, but if you'd rather first make lifestyle changes to improve your cholesterol, try these five healthy changes. That being said, there are several simple ways you can follow to reduce your cholesterol and high blood pressure. Eliminate processed foods Last, but not least, you need to eliminate the source of all evil. For cholesterol and blood pressure, that is processed foods. They are extremely rich in sodium, and we already said that sodium spells bad news for your blood pressure. Consume small meals Small meals mean that you will have frequent meals. How you eat is very important for your cholesterol levels. Food experts recommend that you have 5 to 7 small meals, spread throughout the entire day. An unhealthy way of eating is having three big meals per day. The latter gives you more cholesterol, and increases the risk of coronary heart disease by 10-15%. Consume whole grain products Every time you need to consume bread, pasta, or any other grain product, opt for whole grains. Products made of white flour increase your LDL cholesterol. Whole grain products, on the other hand, offer numerous health benefits. Sprinkle some cinnamon There are many spices that help with cholesterol. But cinnamon is on the top of the list. One big reason to consume more cinnamon is the spice’s flexibility. You can add cinnamon to almost any dish. You can add it to desserts, smoothies, and even curries and stews. For a morning dose of cinnamon, sprinkle some in your coffee or tea. Get fishy Fishes are extremely rich in omega-3 fatty acids. People often underestimate the power and healthy benefits of good fats. Every fish is rich in omega-3, but salmon is on the top of the list. Other fish options include sardines, tuna, mackerel, and herring. If you want to source omega-3 fatty acids from other foods, go for some nuts like walnuts and almonds. Increase your potassium The first thing a doctor will tell you to do when you have high blood pressure is to limit salt intake. The best way to do that is to consume potassium-rich foods. Potassium reduces the effects of sodium. Consume more lemon A cup of water with freshly squeezed lemon in the morning is the best way to start the day. Lemon water has been on the healthy lifestyle radar for a while now. And there is a simple reason. Lemon helps your body flush out toxin, support liver function, and help you lose weight. Watermelon seeds The next time you eat some watermelon, do not throw away the seeds. Most of us spit and throw away the seeds. But there is some magic in them. You need to dry the seeds, then grind, and then eat one teaspoon per day. Get a teaspoon on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Ayurvedic practitioners know of this remedy for a while now.

Researchers show that there are two key factors that increase the risk of oncology: passive lifestyle and malnutrition. In order not to be diagnosed with cancer, oncologists advise to stay away from the following products: 1. Sugar and artificial sweetening ingredients. Sugars do not only increase the level of insulin, but also nourish the cancerous cages. This fact has long been known to science. In 1931, Nobel laureate in medicine, Otto Varburg, found that the tumors were fed with sugar. 2. Processed meat. Meat products under the name of processed meat - sausages, etc. It is intended. A study by Hawaii University shows that such products increase the risk of pancreatic cancer by 67 percent. The treated meat contains many chemicals and preservatives. Dried meat is particularly harmful because it draws resin. 3. Artificially grown fish. In extreme conditions, it is dangerous to breed large quantities of fish. The risk of bacterial, viral and parasitic epidemics is so high in such a dysfunctional environment. 4. Acid-loaded and smoked products. Usually these products hold nitric-type conservators that prolong the validity period. These supplements gradually accumulate in the human body. Ultimately, they cause cancer with unregulated cell degeneration. 5. Synthetic oils. This is a synthetic product that is artificially modified to increase validity period. According to research, such oils double the risk of breast cancer. 6. Potato chips. This popular meal is fried in synthetic oils and then is richly salted. In addition, chips contain sodium that elevates the levels of cholesterol and increases blood pressure and also contains acrylamide (also a cigarette carcinogenic substance). 7. Popcorn in a microwave oven. Popcorn in a microwave oven, while enjoying a meal, significantly increases the risk of cancer. 8. Cleansed white flour. Cleaned flour is deprived of all nutritional properties.

For more info: https://draxe.com/sprouted-grain-bread/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Oct-2014&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=sproutedgrains In today’s video, we will be discussing the subject of sprouted grains and if they are really healthy. I’ll cut right to the chase. My answer is: sometimes and in moderation. There are three reasons sprouted grains are better than regular grains: 1. Phytic acid is in regular grains, which is an enzyme inhibitor. (If you soak the grains, the sprouted grains unlock the nutrients that your body can absorb.) 2. Gluten in protein becomes more digestible. 3. Regular grains are high in carbohydrates, specifically a type of carbohydrate called amylopectin. Amylopectin affects blood sugar levels and can increase your risk of diabetes. Overall, sprouted grains are the better option, but it’s still not perfect or what I would consider a healing food. If you’re struggling with an autoimmune disease, removing grains for a while would allow your body to heal. In general, if you can limit your intake of grains to just a couple of times of week, in moderation, you will be consuming a healthy diet. *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. Protein consumption can exacerbate the insulin spike from high glycemic foods. Subscribe to Dr. Greger’s free nutrition newsletter at https://www.nutritionfacts.org/subscribe and get a free recipe from his new HOW NOT TO DIE COOKBOOK. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) This one is a little twisty and might require a second watch or two. Instead of breaking this into multiple videos I tried to pack it all into one. Basically, the question is if the modern diabetes epidemic in China and Japan has been linked to white rice consumption, but how can we reconcile that with low diabetes rates just a few decades ago when they ate even more rice? The protein exacerbation of the effect of refined carbs could help explain the remarkable results achieved by Dr. Kempner with a don’t-try-this-at-home diet composed of mostly white rice and sugar. See Kempner Rice Diet: Whipping Us Into Shape (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/kempner-rice-diet-whipping-us-into-shape/). Refined grains may also not be good for our blood pressure (Whole Grains May Work As Well As Drugs http://nutritionfacts.org/video/whole-grains-may-work-as-well-as-drugs/). EXECUTIVE WELLNESS EP10- MAINTAINING THE RIGHT CHOLESTEROL LEVELS. The human body is made up of 5 vital organs that keep us running, the brain, the heart, the liver, the lungs, the kidneys. Of these five, the most important and yet the most overlooked is the heart, just like most car users often neglect to take care of their car batteries, humans also tend to ignore their hearts literarily, until the heart begins to cause major health concerns. One of the most important factors that affects the operation of the heart is your cholesterol level, but we often try to shy away from this because it inadvertently affects what we eat. Cholesterol is a fatty substance that is carried around the body in the blood. The body produces most cholesterol naturally, and it is found in some foods. Lipoproteins carry cholesterol in the blood. The two main types that carry cholesterol to and from cells are called low density lipoproteins and high-density lipoproteins, so cholesterol is basically a fat that your body needs to work properly. Too much bad cholesterol can increase your chance of getting heart disease, stroke, and other problems. The medical term for high blood cholesterol is lipid disorder, hyperlipidemia, or hypercholesterolemia. It is highly expedient to pay proper attention to your cholesterol levels and ensure you maintain the normal level as the two extremes, low and high wouldn’t do your body a world of good. These are five easy ways to maintain a good cholesterol level in the body • Focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans We don’t have to become complete vegetarians to get our cholesterol levels into healthy ranges, but clearly, the more vegetables, fruits, potatoes, and other naturally-fiber-rich plant foods we eat, the healthier we’ll be. Read More • Be mindful of fat intake Learn about the fats you should avoid, and the "good" fats you should limit. There are 3 major group of fats to consider keeping a close eye on; 1. Saturated fats Foods with a lot of heart-damaging saturated fat include butter, meat, palm oil, coconut oil, and full-fat and low-fat dairy products, such as whole milk, low-fat milk, cheese, and cream. 2. Trans fats If you see partially hydrogenated fat in the Ingredient List of a food label, that food has trans fats, which not only raise bad LDL cholesterol, they also lower good HDL cholesterol. 3. Dietary cholesterol Top sources of dietary cholesterol include egg yolks, organ meats, and shellfish. • Eat more plant sources of protein Learn about excellent plant proteins that, rather than raising blood cholesterol levels, as animal sources of protein do, actually help lower cholesterol. • Eat fewer refined grains, such as white flour Intake of whole grains are a better choice than the refined grains. Whole grains like whole-wheat couscous, polenta (cornmeal), quinoa, wild rice, and kasha are also beneficial to maintain proper cholesterol ranges. • Get moving Find a simple and practical plan that's easy to weave into daily life. Regular exercise plays a vital role in aiding the right cholesterol levels. Experts have agreed that watching your food intake is the easiest way to keep proper taps of your cholesterol level and the following foods can help in keeping your heart and body right. 1. Oats. An easy first step to improving your cholesterol is having a bowl of oatmeal or cold oat-based cereal like Cheerios for breakfast. It gives you 1 to 2 grams of soluble fiber. Add a banana or some strawberries for another half-gram. 2. Barley and other whole grains. Like oats and oat bran, barley and other whole grains can help lower the risk of heart disease, mainly via the soluble fiber they deliver. 3. Beans. Beans are especially rich in soluble fiber. They also take a while for the body to digest, meaning you feel full for longer after a meal. That's one reason beans are a useful food for folks trying to lose weight. 4. Eggplant and okra. These two low-calorie vegetables are good sources of soluble fiber. 5. Nuts. Studies have shown that eating almonds, walnuts, peanuts, and other nuts is good for the heart. Nuts also have additional nutrients that protect the heart in other ways. 6. Vegetable oils. Using liquid vegetable oils such as canola, sunflower, safflower, and others in place of butter, lard, or shortening when cooking or at the table helps reduce your low-density lipoproteins. 7. Apples, grapes, strawberries, citrus fruits. These fruits are rich in pectin, a type of soluble fiber that also help reduce low density lipoproteins. 8. Foods fortified with sterols and stanols. Sterols and stanols extracted from plants gum up the body's ability to absorb

Cancer causing foods you should never eat. Want a troubling statistic? Did you know that each week, over 3,000 Canadians are diagnosed with some form of cancer? #Cancer #Wellness #HealthTips Timestamps: 1 BPA Lined Cans: 1:46 2 Smoked Foods: 2:49 3 Farm Fish: 3:49 4 Grilled Meat: 4:25 5 Hydrogenated Oils: 4:58 6 Microwaved Popcorn: 5:31 7 Non-Organic Vegetables and Fruits: 6:25 8 Sugar: 6:42 9 Soft Drinks and Sports Drinks: 7:33 10 Soy Protein Isolate: 7:58 11 White Flour: 8:35 12 Processed Foods: 9:28 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music Summary: 1 BPA Lined Cans: A lot of the major food companies coat the lining of their canned foods with Bisphenol A (BPA). According to studies done on human and animal cells, BPA has been linked to several health issues. These include cancer, infertility, obesity, and diabetes. 2 Smoked Foods: Smoked meats contain harmful carcinogens called nitrates and nitrites that help prevent it from spoiling. But when the smoked meat is cooked, those nitrates and nitrites turn into N-nitroso compounds which include nitrosamines and nitrosamides. N-nitroso compounds can increase your risk of developing cancer. 3 Farm Fish: A lot of the fish that you get at the grocery store come from a farm. You might think that it’s safer to get your fish from a farm instead of the wild. Unfortunately, you’d be mistaken. Fish contains high levels of omega-3. Wild fish get their omega-3 from the aquatic plants in the water. Farmed fish are fed an unnatural, high-corn diet which includes other pollutants and chemicals. Some of these chemicals also include pesticides which help prevent sea lice from spreading. 4 Grilled Meat: Nothing is better than cooking grilled meat under a nice fire. But what if I told you that this can increase your chances of getting cancer? Well, it’s true! Cooking meat under a fire can create carcinogenic compounds called heterocyclic amines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. According to research and studies done on animals, these dangerous chemicals have been shown to cause cancer. 5 Hydrogenated Oils: You increase your chances of developing breast cancer of you constantly consume hydrogenated oils. In order to prevent the product from going bad, manufacturers have processed the oil by creating a chemical reaction with hydrogen. 6 Microwaved Popcorn: The bags are lined with Perfluoroalkyls, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS). These are used to prevent the oil from seeping through the package when it’s heating up. Unfortunately when you heat up the bagged popcorn, these chemicals end up in the popcorn. In many studies, PFOA has been associated with tumors in animal organs. Not to mention the PFOA plant workers are also at risk of developing prostate cancer as well. 7 Non-Organic Vegetables and Fruits: Crops that are conventionally grown and induced with pesticides, GMO seeds, and herbicides. All three of these chemicals are dangerous for your health because they contain carcinogens. 8 Sugar: If you have a sweet tooth, you might want to try and cut down. Cancer cells feed off of sugar. What sugar does is it feeds tumors and encourages cancer cells to grow. 9 Soft Drinks and Sports Drinks: Studies have confirmed that there is a link between cancer and soft drinks like soda. They can increase the insulin production in the pancreas which can double the risk of developing pancreatic cancer. Not to mention most soft drinks and sports drinks contain no nutritional value and also rob your body of its essential vitamins and minerals. 10 Soy Protein Isolate: According to statistics, between 90 to 95 percent of all US-grown soybeans that are used to create soy protein isolate are genetically altered. If the body is unable to digest and absorb nutrients, it won’t be able to properly fight developing cancer cells. 11 White Flour: If you’re buying commercially-grown white flour, you should know how it’s processed. The seeds are treated with fungicide. Then they are sprayed with pesticides. Then they are stored in bins that are coated with insecticides. 12 Processed Foods: As I have mentioned already with smoked meats, processed foods also contain nitrates and nitrites that can increase the risk of you developing stomach cancer and other cancers. A lot of processed foods also contain large amounts of white flour, which I just mentioned goes through a dangerous process and contains many harmful chemicals. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Bestie : https://goo.gl/tUqro6 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bestieinc/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.bestie.com/

It is strongly recommended that you eliminate alcohol from your diet while you are trying to lower your triglycerides. 4. Eat more omega-3 fatty acids. Lab rats were given cocaine until they became addicted to it. - Sugar is often linked to the development of numerous lung conditions, so lowering sugar intake results in weakening asthma symptoms. - Studies have shown that sugar hinders such activities as learning and memorizing things. - A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that giving up sugar may result in your acne disappearing. Sugar is inflammatory, and inflammation is known as a cause of acne. - People who eat too much sugar have a much higher risk of having a heart attack. - High sugar intake raises levels of bad cholesterol and blood fats that can clog your blood vessels, leading to severe heart conditions that can be a huge threat to your life. - Studies found that people, who eat very little sugar or none at all, are rarely diagnosed with depression. - You will be very active throughout the day and ready to sleep when the bedtime comes. Your day/night cycle will be more naturally balanced. - When you eat too much glucose, high insulin resistance develops. It means that sugar can’t get into your cells and can get stuck in the bloodstream. - Pancreatic cancer is often linked to high sugar intake. However, the results of the studies haven’t been entirely consistent; it’s better not to take the risk on this one. - Sugar also affects the health of your eyes. Fluctuations of insulin and glucose levels lead to vessel damage and decrease blood supply to your eyes. - When you eat a lot of sugar, especially fructose, you are very likely to overeat. The pancreas is forced to produce more insulin, so other hormones that regulate metabolism, digestion, and weight are neglected. - Your immune system is seriously affected by consumption of large amounts of sugar. You are protected from bacteria and viruses by white blood cells. - Stop eating sugar and spending money on doctors, dentists, those expensive acne concealers and sweet food and drinks that only harm you. How to IMPROVE BLOOD CIRCULATION to the BRAIN? Blood circulation is vital for your body's survival. Blood transports oxygen, fuel and nutrients to all organs of the body, including the brain. It also moves toxins and waste products to the appropriate organs for excretion. When blood flow to your brain is disrupted, you can succumb to a stroke. Circulatory System Your circulatory system includes your heart, veins and arteries. Their job is to circulate blood throughout your body. The heart is a muscle and needs to be strong while your arteries and veins should be pliable and without obstructions for you to maintain optimum health. One common cause of poor circulation is high cholesterol levels, which can cause platelet aggregation, or arterial build-up, and lead to heart attack or stroke, depending on where the blockage occurs. Exercise to Strengthen Your Heart Since your heart is a muscle, it needs to be exercised or it can weaken. A cardiovascular workout several times a week can help keep it pumping efficiently. Proper exercising can also negate obesity, which can strain and weaken your entire circulatory system and reduce overall circulation. Yoga is a low-impact exercise that can stretch all your muscles and teach you breathing techniques that can increase blood flow. Because certain exercises can be dangerous to people with underlying health issues, you should speak to your physician before starting any exercise routine. Your Diet The foods you eat can have a huge impact on your circulation. An abundance of saturated fats can lead to blocked arteries. Large amounts of salt can lead to or exacerbate high blood pressure. Processed foods, such as white flour and white sugar, can deny your body the necessary nutrients to run smoothly. To help reduce high cholesterol, the Mayo Clinic suggests eating plenty of soluble fiber found in foods such as oatmeal and apples. Soluble fiber can absorb cholesterol before it gets to the blood stream. Omega-3 fatty acids from fatty fish such as herring or salmon can reduce blood pressure. Olive and canola oils, and nuts can keep arteries healthy and pliable. Alternative Treatments Herbalist Michael Tierra suggests using cardiovascular stimulants such as cayenne, ginger or ginseng to improve circulation. The University of Maryland Medical Center mentions that hawthorn and rosemary can help with poor circulation by providing antioxidants. Herbs such as ephedra and guarana may have stimulant attributes but are considered dangerous, as they can make the heart rate and blood pressure rise rapidly. In 2009, the FDA banned the sale of supplements containing ephedra. Always speak to your physician before adding any herbs or supplements to your diet. What Foods to Eat for a Good Blood Flow? Good blood flow is essential for proper brain function and oxygen transport to vital organs in the body. Because your heart is the pump that keeps your blood circulating, it's important to maintain a strong heart. Eating a diet rich in heart-healthy foods is one way to help ensure that your body experiences efficient blood flow. Foods Containing L-Arginine L-arginine is an amino acid that your body converts to nitric oxide, a substance that helps relax and maintain the elasticity of blood vessels and arteries. Nitric oxide is also a signaling molecule that instructs arteries to dilate, or widen, which allows blood to flow more freely, helping reduce blood pressure and promoting cardiovascular health. According to Don Colbert, author of "The New Bible Cure for High Blood Pressure," good food sources of L-arginine include chicken, fish, soy nuts, beans, dairy and red meat. If you have high blood pressure, talk with your doctor before taking L-arginine supplements to ensure proper dosage for your condition. Vitamin E-Rich Foods Vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin, plays an important role in efficient blood flow because it dilates blood vessels. Eating foods rich in vitamin E is a good way to keep your blood moving, according to Sherry Torkos, author of "The Canadian Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine." Good food sources of vitamin E include nuts, seeds, whole grains and leafy green vegetables. If you're taking blood thinners, talk with your doctor before taking vitamin E supplements because they may increase the risk of bleeding. Foods Containing Omega-3 Fatty Acids Omega-3 fatty acids keep your blood flowing. People with blood-circulation problems such as varicose veins, for example, benefit by eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids because these unsaturated fatty acids stimulate blood flow and help break down fibrin, or blood clots, according to Shubhangini Joshi, author of "Nutrition and Dietetics." Good food sources of omega-3 fatty acids include nuts, olive oil, canola oil, flax seeds and oily fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines and herring.

Increase Your T Without Stepping In The Gym: https://go.sixpackabs.com/testma34f3 Hey guys, I’m Amy Schultz - Men’s Wellness & Nutrition Expert at Seniority Health dot com and today I am going to show you how you can take your sandwich game to the next level with pulled beef manwiches! This is the ultimate man’s meal for a few reasons… First off, it’s a crock pot recipe - that means for busy guys who don’t have time to prep meals or cook dinner every night, this makes for a simple and delicious option… Plus who doesn’t love walking into the house after a long day and smell dinner waiting on you? Now the second reason why it’s great for men is that we are going to be using weight loss friendly ingredients that are actually proven to support a man’s testosterone health. And if you didn’t know - this is what nutritionists refer to as your master vitality hormone… And by eating a combination of these key nutrients on a daily basis, you can naturally elevate your testosterone levels through your diet… to improve your energy, your performance and yes, your ability to maintain a lean masculine body - even as you age. So here’s what makes this recipe pro-testosterone… First up… The grass-fed beef. And the reason why it’s beneficial for your testosterone health is that it contains cholesterol… Now before you think I’m just trying to clog your arteries, you should know that there are tons of respected peer-reviewed studies which clearly show that dietary cholesterol intake has little to nothing to do with cardiovascular risk. In fact, cholesterol is actually the precursor to testosterone in the male body. Meaning that cholesterol, the actual lipid molecule, is like baby testosterone. And it comes not as a surprise that several studies have found out how increased cholesterol intake correlates with elevated testosterone production. Therefore if your diet is currently void of dietary fats and cholesterol, there’s a good chance that your testosterone health could be taking a big hit. But by incorporating some clean, grass-fed lean animal protein - you’ll be able to directly up your hormone production. Next on the list is the avocado. This creamy green fruit contains monounsaturated fats - which are the best known dietary fats for your hormone health. Plus, they are packed with magnesium - a mineral that has shown through studies to release bound test molecules in the body and make them more bio-active. Another study even showed that roughly one gram of magnesium was enough to increase free testosterone levels by 24% in combination with exercise… Pretty amazing, right? So we’ve talked about the protein and the dietary fats - now let’s touch on every guy’s favorite carbohydrate source… BREAD! This loaf of bread is unique because it doesn’t contain any white flour, so it doesn’t have any refined carbs like most kinds of pasta, cereals, and white bread products contain. Eating large amounts of refined carbs will cause your testosterone levels to decrease because the sugars from them can make men gain weight and raise estrogen levels as testosterone is depleted. So if you love bread or love sandwiches - your best bet is to check the ingredients on your bread and make sure it uses almond flour or coconut flour instead of white flour. Now here are the other ingredients you’ll need: 1 Large Onion 1 tbsp minced garlic 1 Tbsp Chili Powder 1 Tbsp Mexican Oregano 1 Tsp Cumin 3 Tbsp Fresh Cilantro, Finely Chopped 1 Tsp Salt and black pepper 14 Oz Diced Tomatoes with Juice So here’s how it’s done: Spray down a stove top pan with non-stick spray and add your meat, onion, and garlic to the skillet. Add some salt and pepper and let your meat brown for several minutes. Add ½ cup of water to the skillet and scrape up all the browned fond from the bottom of the pan. Transfer to slow cooker. Add chili powder, oregano, cumin, and tomatoes… Then simply let cook on High 4-6 hours. Once it’s finished cooking… Leave your meat is still in the slow cooker and use two forks to shred the beef cubes, then garnish with cilantro. When you’re ready to eat, I recommend popping your bread in the toaster before adding 5-6oz of shredded beef. Then top it with some sliced avocado and serve it up with your favorite sides such as dill pickle spears or some slaw! Now if you want more incredibly simple and delicious weight loss friendly recipes… Head to https://go.sixpackabs.com/testma34f3 now. I’ll see you guys next time. -Amy Schultz Eat For The Body & Health A Man Deserves: https://go.sixpackabs.com/testma34f3 P.S. Make sure to like & share this recipe on Facebook

http://Cholesterol.GetLivingHealthy.com WHAT IS CHOLESTEROL? Cholesterol is a fat-like, waxy compound found in the blood and body tissue. The body normally produces enough for its needs. When there is too much cholesterol in the blood, it can build up in the walls of the arteries and eventually cause the arteries to harden. If the circulation of blood through the coronary artery becomes completely blocked, a heart attack will be the result. There's good cholesterol and bad -- but do you know the difference? Here are some helpful hints and facts to help you distinguish the two. Dr. Oz's Cholesterol Facts: -- Ideally, your low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels should be under 100 mg/DL. -- The liver produces cholesterol, therefore you want to eat foods that keep it healthy and avoid foods like white bread that contain bleached flour. -- Foods that help cholesterol: monosaturated fats & soluble fiber. -- Foods that hurt cholesterol: Whole milk, peanut butter, liver, dark chicken meat. WHY IS CHOLESTEROL IMPORTANT? Your blood cholesterol level has a lot to do with your chances of getting heart disease. High blood cholesterol is one of the major risk factors for heart disease. A risk factor is a condition that increases your chance of getting a disease. In fact, the higher your blood cholesterol level, the greater your risk for developing heart disease or having a heart attack. HOW CAN I LOWER CHOLESTEROL? Here are few tips for lowering cholesterol: -- Eat fewer fats and fried foods. Choose non-fat and low-fat versions of foods, if available. -- When eating fats, select unsaturated fats. (Unsaturated fats are liquid at room temperature -- vegetable oils, for example. Avoid tropical oils, such as palm and coconut oil.) -- Choose fish and poultry more often than red meat. -- Limit total amount of meat, fish, poultry, and low-fat cheeses to 7 ounces or less each day. -- Exercise -- If you smoke, quit. -- Lose extra weight. -- Eat more soluble fiber. Good sources are fruits, beans, peas, and oats. -- Limit egg yolks to no more than three per week. (Egg whites are fat-free.) ARE THERE GOOD AND BAD CHOLESTEROL TYPES? We've realized in the past several years that the overall cholesterol number isn't nearly as important as breaking it down into LDL and HDL because the two have such different actions. We remember it by first initials-L for lousy, H for healthy. LDL cholesterol is short for low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Exercising, losing even 10 pounds of weight, avoiding simple carbohydrates (avoid all white foods), and restricting saturated and trans fats to less than 20 grams a day will lower your LDL. You can lower the level of LDL cholesterol in several other ways, as well. As you might guess, HDL cholesterol is short for high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. You want as high an HDL level possible-at least greater than 40. You can increase your HDL by consuming healthy fats-found in olive oil, fish, and walnuts-walking (or any physical activity) for 30 minutes a day, taking a newer natural products like Cholesterol Reduction Conplex from Shaklee, and having a drink of Red Wine on occasion. You can boost your level of HDL cholesterol in other ways, as well. Learn more about our NEW! Cholesterol Reduction Complex from Shaklee Lowers Cholesterol Naturally... LOWER TRIGLYCERIDES , 10 Steps to Lower Triglycerides. When Triglycerides Inch Up Maybe you've put on a few extra pounds. Now your yearly blood work comes back showing high triglycerides. These fats are an important source of energy in your body, but at high levels they can hurt your heart. Like cholesterol, triglyceride troubles can lead to clogged arteries and possibly to a heart attack or stroke. Luckily, there are many ways to lower your triglycerides. Look at How You Eat That creamy latte, grilled cheese sandwich, or scoop of ice cream before bed can all lead to high triglycerides. If you often eat more calories than you burn - like many of us do - your triglycerides may start to inch up. The worst offenders are sugary foods and foods high in saturated fat, like cheese, whole milk, and red meat. Say No to Sugar If you have high triglycerides, get your sweet tooth in check. Simple sugars, especially fructose (a sugar often found in fruit), raise triglycerides. Watch out for foods made with added sugar, including soda, baked goodies, candy, most breakfast cereals, flavored yogurt, and ice cream. Uncover Hidden Sugar Learn to spot added sugars on food labels. Words to look for include brown sugar, corn syrup, words ending in "ose" (dextrose, fructose, glucose, lactose, maltose, sucrose), fruit juice concentrates, cane syrup, cane sugar, honey, malt sugar, molasses, and raw sugar. Focus on Fiber Swap out foods made with refined white flour, and bring on the whole grains. You'll eat more fiber, which helps lower your triglycerides. For breakfast, have a bowl of steel-cut oats with berries instead of a bagel or sweet cereal. At lunchtime, try a salad loaded with veggies and garbanzo beans. Choose brown rice or quinoa at dinner instead of potatoes or pasta. Eat the Right Fat A little fat is good for you, when it's the healthy kind. Choose foods that naturally contain mono- and polyunsaturated fats: avocados, walnuts, chicken without the skin, canola oil, and olive oil. Avoid trans fats, which are found in many processed foods, French fries, crackers, cakes, chips, and stick margarine. Don't eat much saturated fat, found in red meat, ice cream, cheese, and buttery baked goods. Choose Fish Instead of Red Meat The same omega-3 fats that are good for your heart can help lower your triglycerides, too. Next time you eat out, get the fish instead of a burger or steak. Eat fish at least twice a week. Salmon, mackerel, herring, lake trout, albacore tuna, and sardines are all high in omega-3s. Eat Your Nuts and Greens Other good sources of omega-3s: Walnuts Flaxseeds Spinach Kale Brussels sprouts Salad greens Beans Do You Need an Omega-3 Supplement? Ask your doctor. Capsules can give you a concentrated amount of omega-3s, but not everyone needs them. You may be able to lower triglycerides by making healthier choices in your life. And high doses of omega-3s can cause bleeding in some people. If your doctor says it's OK, look for capsules with EPA and DHA, two powerful types of omega 3 Cut Back on Alcohol. Do you unwind with wine, beer, or a cocktail? Switch to sparkling water with a squeeze of lime juice. Or try a tangy herbal iced-tea blend that tastes great without added sugar. Excess drinking is one cause of high triglycerides. That means more than one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men. For some people, even small amounts of alcohol can raise triglycerides. Lose Weight Extra weight, particularly around your waist, raises triglycerides. One of the biggest things you can do to bring your levels down is to take it off. It doesn't have to be dramatic, either. Get Moving If you're carrying around a few extra pounds, starting regular workouts can get you in shape and lower your triglycerides at the same time. Aim for 30 minutes of exercise five days a week, and be sure to break a sweat and get your heart pumping. You can cut your triglycerides by 20% to 30%. If you're new to exercise, try a dance class, go for a swim, or take a brisk walk each day. When Habits Need a Helping Hand If lifestyle changes haven't helped enough, your doctor may suggest adding a prescription medicine. Fibrates, niacin, statins, and high-dose fish oil are a few of the options. Your doctor will look at all your blood fats -- triglycerides and all types of cholesterol -- to decide the best way to protect your heart.

White Flour Substitutes: • Whole Wheat Flour- not just “Wheat Flour” • Soy Flour- has a nutty flavor plus plenty of protein • Durum Wheat Rather than baking and creating your White Flour substitutes here are brands that offer non-white flour products. Be sure to check the ingredients list to make sure whole wheat is the first, and main, ingredient, otherwise, your just getting a few grains mixed into regular white bread. • Barilla Plus Spaghetti • Westbrae Natural Organic Whole Wheat Lasagna • Lifestream Organic Whole Grain-Flax Linguini • Trader Joe’s Organic Whole Wheat Rotelle Pasta • Tofu Shirataki Noodles • Brown Rice in place of processed white rice Avoid Fake Low-Carb Products • Don’t eat “low carb” versions of high carb stuff, like cookies, bars, chocolate, bread, pasta or ice cream – unless you are SURE of the ingredients (perhaps from making it yourself). • Avoid products with the words “net carbs” on them. Gluten Free Alternatives: Teff- The Wonder Grain- Thomas DeLauer What is Teff? It's one of the newest (actually oldest) gluten free alternatives! http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com In this video, I will answer the simple question of, "What is Teff?" but I will also dive into why we have issues with gluten these days, and what can be done to solve the issue at hand. -The demand for gluten-free foods in on the rise -Gluten is known to cause inflammation in the body - yet wheat is one of the oldest known crops, so why are we having trouble digesting it now? -Wheat has been selectively bred to increase yield and create ease of harvest and preparation, ignoring the nutritional impact (2) -Example: durum wheat has been created by humans due to the looser husk, which makes it easier to use on a mass production scale (2) -This change in wheat is likely one major cause as to why the common gluten in our food is so difficult to digest. -There are benefits of diversifying our diets -There are more than 50,000 known edible plants around the world, all with different nutritional profiles, yet we now have ⅔ of the plant food provided by three cereals - corn, wheat and rice (1). -This dependence on very few crops leads to both crop risk due to climate change, as well as a lack of nutritionally diverse dietary options (1). -Ancient grains, such as quinoa, millet, sorghum, teff and many others are starting to increase in popularity as both flour alternatives as well as additives to make cereals and other foods healthier (2). Teff: -Teff is the smallest grain in the world, originating from Ethiopia (1). If you have eaten at an Ethiopian restaurant, teff is the grain in the spongy pancake injera (3). -Highly pest resistant and easy to grow in many different climates, this grain is a promising addition to agriculture (3) -Gluten free. -Different varieties vary in color, from milky white to dark brown, with different colors having different flavors (4). -Teff is known to have a nutty flavor -Teff is a good source of protein, especially high in the essential amino acid lysine (4). -Also a good source of iron, calcium, essential fatty acids, fiber and phytochemicals (4). -Great for vegetarians and vegans due to high iron content that many of us get through red meat in our diets. -Fiber is important for glucose levels as well as reducing LDL cholesterol levels. (4) -Diets high in whole grains have been linked to a 20 to 30 percent reduction in developing type 2 diabetes (1). How to Add Teff to Your Diet 1. Make a gluten free flour blend to use instead of flour in recipes: whisk together 5 ¼ cup teff flour, 1 ¾ cups brown rice flour, 2 ⅓ cups ground golden flaxseeds and 1 cup sweet rice flour and store in an airtight container for up to 3 months in the fridge or 6 months in the freezer (5) 2. Use whole teff to make a breakfast porridge. Add whole nuts, berries and a small amount of maple syrup to flavor (6). Tip: If you enjoy the nutty flavor and would like to heighten it, saute teff in a dry skillet for five minutes before heating it into a porridge (6). There are many other recipes online, such as harder, almost polenta-like teff and other savory teff recipes! You can find teff at some natural food stores as well as online through companies such as Bob’s Red Mill or The Teff Company (6). References: 1. We know some products are really dangerous for our health, and other products are good for us as they are healthy. It turns out it’s not so simple and some of the most promoted and popular foods can, in fact, harm you. Never eat these 10 dangerous foods for the sake of your own health and the health of your family. Even if you see the juice labels “not from concentrate” or “100% pure”, don't let this fool you. Juice, after being squeezed from different fruits, is kept in huge vacuum-sealed tanks where it can sit for up to a year before being packaged! And by that time, the juice has lost all its flavor, which is why manufacturers have to add artificial flavoring to make it taste fruity again. In most cases, cereals are loaded with refined carbohydrates and sugar. Even if the label assures you that it's fat-free and whole grain, check the list of ingredients. You'll most likely see that the product is full of sugar. Despite common belief, most yogurts don't contain probiotic bacteria since the process of pasteurization kills all these microorganisms. When consumed, trans-fats in ice-cream can cause high cholesterol, stroke, heart disease, and even cancer. Ice cream is also loaded with sugar, artificial flavors, and synthetic preservatives. And if it’s pink, purple, or red, it’s most likely been colored with cochineal extract or carmine, additives which can cause bad allergic reactions. Popcorn has some genetically modified ingredients as well as taste-boosting chemicals and additives. This leads to health problems such as heart attacks, digestive issues, allergies, skin rashes, breathing problems, and the depressing list goes on. Even more, popcorn is extremely caloric. These oils, when heated, become nothing more than trans-fats. -One egg contains as much cholesterol as a big greasy burger. -Microwave popcorn’s almost always lined with the same toxic substance you can find in Teflon pans. -If candy doesn’t contain sugar, it contains artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose, and saccharine. These substances are chemically processed and may cause some serious side effects. -Artificial sweeteners in diet soda can easily lead to weight gain as they trigger the production of insulin, which makes your body store fat. For more information on the 5 White Foods Harmful To Your Health, CLICK HERE: http://www.lowcaloriesfoods.com/10-pounds There are good and bad foods we eat infrequently and others, daily. What few people know is that there are 5 white foods we eat every day, that have little nutritional value and are harmful to our health. These foods also called 'white poison' cause diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and even cancer. Do you want to know what they are? Here we tell you: 1. Refined salt. The salt we consume today has nothing to do with the natural crystalline salt. This was a decision some time ago from some scientists that concluded that the other components were not necessary and that was enough with sodium chloride for salting meals. The natural crystalline salt contains the 84 elements of the human body in its ideal ratio but is now a pure poison we eat every day. So we must avoid salt as often as we can. Especially avoid all junk foods that contain a lot of it. 2. The flour. The flour we eat today is mostly starch and retains only a small fraction of the original grains. The finer and whiter the flour, the less minerals, vitamins and fiber it contains. Lean for whole grain breads! 3. Refined sugar. Refined sugar has no proteins or minerals, or enzymes, or fats. That is, no benefit to our health besides providing energy. This is a pure chemical substance obtained from sugar cane that goes through many processes where it loses all the components that could be beneficial to our health. However, being eliminated, it causes an opposite effect and its excessive consumption can cause harmful effects. 4. Pasteurized cow's milk. Believe it or not, milk is a source of cholesterol and saturated fats; some studies have linked it to diabetes and osteoporosis. During the pasteurization process destroys beneficial bacteria, enzymes essential to absorb nutrients and its entire phosphatase (necessary to absorb calcium). Painful but true, milk is one of the most harmful white foods to your health. 5. White Rice. Within the white foods harmful to health is white rice since has gone through a refining process where is extracted the outer layer and germ and retains only the endosperm, composed mainly of starch. To replace this 'white poison' you can eat brown rice, it has gone through less chemical processes. Do you know any other harmful food to the health? Tell us in the comments section below. How To Cure Hypothyroidism http://www.HypothyroidRevolution.org In alternative medicine, there is very little difference in curing hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. This is because the treatment involves assisting the thyroid to heal, in either case. Those with hyperthyroidism should not use iodine, because it could overdrive the thyroid, worsening the condition. Curing thyroid disease requires a long-term commitment for a period of at least a year. Creating this problem took years of self-poisoning, so fixing it is neither quick, nor easy. Hypothyroidism medications are addictive, and the body becomes reliant on them, which is why the mainstream establishment maintains that people must take them forever. Those who have been taking hypothyroidism medications for years must slowly wean themselves from the drugs. Abruptly stopping these medications will result in extreme fatigue, and additional thyroid problems. Treatment Recommendations Eliminate and discard all non-stick cookware Eliminate Soy - Soy suppresses thyroid function, imbalances hormones, and it has been shown to cause goiters (an enlargement of the thyroid gland) in previously healthy individuals, which shows that it disrupts iodine usage. Adhere to an Alkaline Diet - This is extremely helpful when curing any chronic disease. Reference the Body pH and Disease article to guide you. Balance Estrogen Levels (Women) - Excess estrogen slows down the thyroid gland. This means eliminating birth control medications, increasing the fiber in the diet, and avoiding all non-organic meats. Growth hormones in meats lead to imbalanced hormones. Reduce dairy intake, because milk often contains lots of estrogen; primarily because cows are milked frequently during pregnancy. Exercise - Find a physical activity that is fun, and do it often. We believe that exercise could half the cure time in some cases, and curing is not possible without it. Hemp Fiber - This is a broad spectrum supplement and a mild laxative. L-Tyrosine - Tyrosine is a natural amino acid which helps the body produce its own thyroid hormone. This is also known to help with the depression, which usually accompanies hypothyroidism. Most naturopaths recommend that 500 mg. be taken 2-3 times daily. L-Arginine - Arginine is known to stimulate the thyroid and its hormones. It also improves immune function, improves fertility, and alleviates erectile dysfunction. Iodine - The thyroid needs iodine to function properly, and lots of people now suffer from iodine deficiencies. To test yourself, place some iodine (we use 2%) on your stomach. Make a dot the size of a silver dollar (or twice the size of a British 50p). If it disappears within 12 hours, then you are iodine deficient. Keep adding iodine in increasing amounts, until it no longer disappears in a 12-hour period. This works due to the fact that the body absorbs iodine at the rate at which it is needed. Do not use povidone iodine and do not orally consume iodine. This is especially an important precaution for those with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Avoid all sources of fluoride - As already mentioned, fluoride suppresses the thyroid, and is likely to be the leading cause of hypothyroidism. Drink spring water, avoid soft drinks, use fluoride-free toothpaste, use a shower filter, and throw away non-stick cookware. Both coffee and tea naturally contain fluoride, so use iodine to compensate if these drinks are indispensable. Eat a natural diet - To help the body to heal itself, remove burdens on its immune system. This means that all processed foods, artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, white flour, white sugar, table salt, hydrogenated oils, aluminum, high fructose corn syrup, and etcetera should be eliminated from the diet. Organic food is the ideal. Do not trust marketing that reads "All Natural", because this phrase is unregulated, so anyone can use it for anything. Read labels carefully. Chlorophyll - Supplementing with chlorophyll provides essential copper, helps oxygenate the body, builds healthy red blood cells, and it overall assists with skin health. Chlorophyll is a safe method of orally supplementing with copper. Those who are using our Colloidal Copper Lotion are unlikely to need more copper. Zinc and Selenium: Studies indicate that severe zinc or selenium deficiencies can cause decreased thyroid hormone levels. Never take zinc on an empty stomach. Brazil nuts are high in both zinc and selenium. Coconut Oil: Buy organic, cold-pressed, coconut oil from a health food store. Take around 1 teaspoon of it daily. You can also use it to cook with, but be warned that it smokes at low cooking temperatures, so it should only be used for low-heat cooking. Coconut oil speeds the metabolism, encourages production of the thyroid hormone, and kills candida yeast.

Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes can be debilitating diseases that negatively affect a person’s quality of life. Diabetes is caused by high blood sugar levels in the blood when the pancreas isn’t able to do its job properly or when certain cells don’t use the insulin that the pancreas supplies. Today’s video will reveal 9 foods that people who suffer from diabetes should remove from their diets. With exercise and sensible food choices, a person who has been diagnosed with diabetes can normally keep their blood sugar levels at manageable levels. Here are the foods we recommend diabetics avoid: 1. Fruit Juices Store bought fruit juices are full of extra sugar that will cause glucose levels to spike. Drinking these kinds of juices on a regular basis has been proven to increase the risk of type 2 diabetes. Eating a piece of natural, whole fruit is a great alternative. 2. Sugary Carbonated Drinks Soft drinks and energy drinks are terrible for our bodies. They contain an enormous amount of sugar and calories that are making people obese at an alarming rate. Those who already struggle with weight issues are more likely to run the risk of developing diabetes, if they continue to consume these drinks that are full of preservatives and additives. 3. White Bread There’s an old adage that says, “The whiter the bread, the quicker you’re dead.” Although that may be alarming, for someone with diabetes, this kind of bread that contains bleached flours and refined starches doesn’t do much for us besides drive our blood sugar levels up. Refined carbohydrates are best to avoid. Instead, look for whole grains and oats that contain more fiber and don’t cause spikes in blood sugar levels. 4. White Rice Here’s another refined product that diabetics should avoid. Studies have shown that if you eat white rice once a day, you’re 27% more likely to develop diabetes than if you were to eat whole grains on a daily basis. White rice is digested easily by our bodies and causes our glucose levels to rise quickly after eating it. Grains with a high fiber count are better for us than white rice. 5. Potatoes Though they taste great and are filling, the starchy potato should be avoided by those who suffer from blood sugar problems. The starch in potatoes gets broken down too quickly by our bodies and is absorbed into the blood stream. When that happens, our blood sugar levels are going to rise quickly. This warning also includes French fries and potato chips. Not only are both made from potatoes, they’re also deep fried in hydrogenated oils that lead to an increase in cholesterol levels. So, eating French fries could lead to a greater risk of diabetes and heart disease. 6. Artificial Sweeteners Slick marketing tactics have sold artificial sweeteners to diabetics as a healthy alternative to sugar. They’re not. These industrialized products hurt us more than help us by reducing insulin sensitivity. They also tend to slow down our metabolism and calorie burning ability. For someone with diabetes, it would be better to consume sugar in moderation than these chemically-ridden sweeteners. 7. Raisins Raisins are a quick and tasty snack that’s rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber. But they also cause spikes in blood sugar, and that’s why people with diabetes should try to avoid them. 8. Fat Cuts of Meat Fatty cuts of pork or red meats like beef and lamb are harmful to those with blood sugar issues. They contain saturated fats and increase the risk of heart disease. They also increase inflammation in the body. 9. Whole Milk Dairy products are also loaded with saturated fats—especially whole milk and anything that is labeled as a full-fat dairy product. These kinds of dairy products raise cholesterol levels—most notably the LDL or bad cholesterol. They also have a negative effect on our insulin resistance. Almond milk is a healthier alternative. 1. Flaxseeds Flaxseeds are rich in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. Adding 1 to 2 tbsp. of ground flaxseeds to your diet will not only not raise your blood sugar levels but can actually help blunt the blood sugar level's rise normally experienced after eating. The type of fiber in flaxseeds are mainly soluble and have the property of reducing your blood sugar levels as well as your blood cholesterol levels. 2. Cheese Cheese does not contain any carbohydrates, with the exception of cottage cheese and ricotta cheese, which contain small amounts, or about 3 to 4 g per 1/2 cup serving. Cheese is a good source of protein and calcium. Cheese makes a great snack that won't raise your blood sugar levels and is a good way to add extra protein to your breakfast. 3. Olive Oil Olive oil is a good source of heart-friendly monounsaturated fats, which constitute the cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet. Olive oil does not contain carbohydrates and will not directly influence your blood sugar levels. Use regular olive oil for cooking your vegetables and protein and select extra-virgin olive oil for drizzling over your salad. 4. Meat, Poultry and Fish A healthy diabetes meal plan should include an adequate source of protein at each of your meals. Lean meat and poultry constitute good low-fat options, while fish, eaten two to three times a week, can provide you with the omega-3 fatty acids your body needs to stay healthy and to prevent cardiovascular diseases.
