Rheumatoid Arthritis flares can happen gradually or overnight, and are not experienced by every patient in the same capacity. Flares can produce severe joint pain and stiffness, as well as feelings of uneasiness, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, and depression. Learning what triggers your RA flares can be beneficial to lessening or preventing future flares. While cold and damp weather may act as a trigger for a flare, sunlight and vitamin D could work positively against a flare. Dr. Doghrami recommends getting 5 to 10 minutes of sun at least 3 days a week. Exercising and staying flexible can also alleviate the symptoms of RA flares, but you should talk to your doctor before engaging in a new fitness regimen, as overexertion during a flare can be more harmful than helpful. A balanced diet is key to a healthy life. Claims about dairy and gluten triggering RA flares should not impact your elimination of those foods from your diet, as only 1 in 3 RA patients experience difficulty with dairy and gluten. Talk to your doctor about testing if you think that certain foods may be acting as a trigger for your RA flares. For more information on how to alleviate pain experienced by RA flares, click the link above.

The 2nd of February is Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Day and 3D4Medical made a video explaining more about the condition. Find more info at: http://rheum4us.org/what-is-rheumatoid-awareness-day/ Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease where a person's immune system attacks and targets the healthy connective tissue surrounding joints in the body. It affects approximately 1% of the population. Rheumatoid Arthritis most commonly affects individuals aged between 30 to 60, however onset can occur at any age. Women have more than double the chance of developing Rheumatoid Arthritis. Other risk Factors include having a close relative with Rheumatoid Arthritis and smoking. When the immune system attacks the connective tissue surrounding a joint, this causes inflammation. Patients experience swollen, stiff, and painful joints, which can feel warm. Symptoms are worst in the morning and after periods of inactivity. The most common joints affected are the small joints of the hands, feet and ankles - however larger joints may also be affected. Symptoms usually occur symmetrically on both sides of the body. This initial inflammation can lead to long term joint damage and joint deformities, so early management is key. People living with Rheumatoid arthritis experience “Flare Ups” of more severe symptoms which can last from a few days up to a month. Rheumatoid Arthritis is mostly managed with medications targeting the immune system, which aim to decrease the inflammation and damage to the joints. Other medications are given for initial symptom relief however these do not combat disease progression. Intramuscular injections can provide relief from symptoms, especially during flare ups. If the condition is allowed to progress, it can lead to permanent joint damage consisting of cartilage destruction and bone erosion. Depending on the severity of the joint damage a patient may choose to avail of joint replacement surgery which serves to ease pain and increase joint mobility. Rheumatoid Arthritis is known to cause fatigue - however, keeping active is shown to benefit patients. Regular low impact exercise can strengthen muscles and keep connective tissue healthy providing better protection against flare ups. https://www.arthritistreatmentcenter.com Can your mood affect arthritis symptoms? The answer next… Can depression worsen RA symptoms? Dr. Bonnie Bermas writing in the Harvard health blog reported roughly one in six people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) suffers from depression. Common symptoms of depression, such as fatigue, achiness, and difficulty completing activities of daily life (for example, dressing, cooking, cleaning), can mimic the symptoms of an arthritis flare. It is also possible that depression can contribute to a flare. A team of researchers studied 379 people with RA who were already enrolled in a trial to compare different medications for the treatment of their arthritis. Participants were asked to describe their feelings using one of the following sentences: “I am not anxious or depressed,” “I am moderately anxious or depressed,” or “I am extremely anxious or depressed.” This assessment was administered alongside standard scales used to measure whether RA symptoms are getting better or worse, or remaining stable (what doctors call disease activity). The researchers found that the participants reporting more anxiety and depression had higher disease activity scores. They also reported more tender joints and, when asked about their symptoms, they themselves rated their disease activity as higher. At the same time, depression and anxiety seemed to have no effect on the number of swollen joints found during physical exams or the level of inflammation in the body as measured by a blood test called ESR (also known as the sedimentation rate). 5 WARNING SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS Signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis may include: Tender, warm, swollen joints Joint stiffness that is usually worse in the mornings and after inactivity Fatigue, fever and weight loss Early rheumatoid arthritis tends to affect your smaller joints first — particularly the joints that attach your fingers to your hands and your toes to your feet. As the disease progresses, symptoms often spread to the wrists, knees, ankles, elbows, hips and shoulders. In most cases, symptoms occur in the same joints on both sides of your body. About 40 percent of the people who have rheumatoid arthritis also experience signs and symptoms that don't involve the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis can affect many nonjoint structures, including: Skin Eyes Lungs Heart Kidneys Salivary glands Nerve tissue Bone marrow Blood vessels Rheumatoid arthritis signs and symptoms may vary in severity and may even come and go. Periods of increased disease activity, called flares, alternate with periods of relative remission — when the swelling and pain fade or disappear. Over time, rheumatoid arthritis can cause joints to deform and shift out of place. Subscribe to the channel, watch more videos, like or share a video and leave a comment. Thanks.

11 Effects of Rheumatoid Arthritis on the Body Overview Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is more than just joint pain. This chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease causes your body to mistakenly attack healthy joints and leads to widespread inflammation. While RA is notorious for causing joint pain and inflammation, it can also cause other symptoms throughout the body. Read on to learn more about the possible symptoms of RA and its overall effects on the body. The effects of rheumatoid arthritis on the body RA is a progressive autoimmune disease that mainly affects your joints. According to Arthritis Foundation, about 1.5 million U.S. people live with RA. Anyone can get RA, but it generally begins between the ages of 30 and 60. It also tends to affect women nearly three times more than men. The exact cause of RA is unknown, but genetics, infections, or hormonal changes may play a role. Disease-modifying medications can help slow the progression of RA. Other medications, combined with lifestyle changes, can help manage the effects and in turn improve your overall quality of life. Skeletal system One of the first signs of RA is inflammation of the smaller joints in the hands and feet. Most of the time, symptoms affect both sides of the body at once. Common symptoms include pain, swelling, tenderness, and stiffness, which is more pronounced in the morning. Morning RA pain can last for 30 minutes or longer. RA can also cause tingling or burning sensations in the joints. Symptoms can come and go in “flares” followed by a period of remission, but the initial stages can last at least six weeks. Symptoms of RA can occur in any of the body’s joints, including your: fingers wrists shoulders elbows hips knees ankles toes RA can also result in: bunions claw toes hammer toes As the disease progresses, cartilage and bone are damaged and destroyed. Eventually, supporting tendons, ligaments, and muscles weaken. This can lead to a limited range of motion or difficulty moving the joints properly. In the long term, joints can become deformed. Having RA also puts you at greater risk of developing osteoporosis, a weakening of the bones. This in turn can increase your risk of bone fractures and breaks. Chronic inflammation of the wrists can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome, making it difficult to use your wrists and hands. Weakened or damaged bones in the neck or cervical spine can cause chronic pain. Your doctor may order X-rays to investigate the extent of joint and bone damage from RA. Circulatory system RA can affect the system responsible for making and transporting blood throughout your body, too. A simple blood test can reveal the presence of an antibody called the rheumatoid factor. Not all people with the antibody develop RA, but it’s one of many clues doctors use to diagnose this condition. RA increases your risk for anemia. This is due to a decreased production of red blood cells. You may also have a higher risk of blocked or hardened arteries. In rare cases, RA can lead to inflammation of the sac around the heart (pericarditis), the heart muscle (myocarditis), or even congestive heart failure. A rare but serious complication of RA is inflammation of the blood vessels (rheumatoid vasculitis, or RA rash). Inflamed blood vessels weaken and expand or narrow, interfering with blood flow. This can lead to problems with the nerves, skin, heart, and brain. Skin, eyes, and mouth Rheumatoid nodules are hard lumps caused by inflammation that appear under the skin, usually near joints. They can be bothersome, but usually aren’t painful. As many as 4 million U.S. people have an inflammatory disease called Sjogren’s syndrome, according to the Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation. About half of these individuals also have RA or a similar autoimmune disease. When the two diseases are present, it’s called secondary Sjogren’s syndrome. Sjogren’s causes severe dryness — especially of the eyes. You may notice a burning or gritty feeling. Prolonged dry eyes increases the risk of eye infection or corneal damage. Though it’s rare, RA can also cause inflammation of the eye. Sjogren’s can also cause a dry mouth and throat, making it difficult to eat or swallow, especially dry foods. Chronic dry mouth can lead to: tooth decay gingivitis oral infections You may also experience swollen glands in the face and neck, dry nasal passages, and dry skin. Women may also feel vaginal dryness. Respiratory system RA increases the risk of inflammation or scarring of the linings of the lungs (pleurisy) and damage to lung tissue (rheumatoid lung). Other problems include: blocked airways (bronchiolitis obliterans) fluid in the chest (pleural effusion) high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension) scarring of the lungs (pulmonary fibrosis) rheumatoid nodules on the lungs

Early Signs of Rheumatoid Arthritis What is rheumatoid arthritis? Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder that causes chronic inflammation of joints. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) tends to begin slowly with minor symptoms that come and go, usually on both sides of the body, and progress over a period of weeks or months. Symptoms of this chronic disease vary from person to person and can change from day to day. Bouts of disease activity are called flare-ups, and inactive periods are called remission. Fatigue You may feel unusually fatigued well before any other symptoms become obvious. Fatigue can precede the onset of other symptoms by weeks or months. It may come and go from week to week or day to day. Fatigue is sometimes accompanied by a general feeling of ill health or even depression. Morning stiffness Morning stiffness is often an early sign of arthritis. Stiffness that lasts for a few minutes is usually a symptom of a degenerative form of arthritis. Stiffness that lasts for several hours is generally a symptom of inflammatory arthritis and is typical of RA. You may also feel stiffness after any period of prolonged inactivity like napping or sitting. Joint stiffness Stiffness in one or more of the smaller joints is a common early sign of RA. This can occur at any time of day, whether you are active or not. Typically, stiffness begins in the joints of the hands. It usually comes on slowly, although it can come on suddenly and affect multiple joints over the course of one or two days. Joint pain Joint stiffness is often followed by joint tenderness or pain during movement or while at rest. This also affects both sides of the body equally. In early RA, the most common sites for pain are the fingers and wrists. You may also experience pain in your knees, feet, ankles, or shoulders. Minor joint swelling Mild inflammation of the joints is typical early on, causing your joints to appear bigger than normal. This swelling can also cause joints to feel warm to the touch. Flare-ups can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, and this pattern can be expected to increase with time. Subsequent flare-ups may be felt in the same joints or in other joints. Fever When accompanied by other symptoms like joint pain and inflammation, a low-grade fever may be an early warning sign that you have RA. However, a fever higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) is more likely to be a sign of some other form of illness or an infection. Numbness and tingling Inflammation of tendons can create pressure on your nerves. This may cause numbness, tingling, or a burning feeling in your hands referred to as carpal tunnel syndrome. The joints of your hands or feet may even produce a squeak or crackling noise as damaged cartilage grinds against joints when you move. Decrease in range of motion Inflammation in your joints can cause tendons and ligaments to become unstable or deformed. As the disease progresses, you may find yourself unable to bend or straighten some joints. Although your range of motion may also be affected by pain, it’s important to engage in regular, gentle exercise. Other early symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis During the early states of RA, you may feel a variety of symptoms, including: general weakness or a feeling of malaise dry mouth dry, itchy, or inflamed eyes eye discharge difficulty sleeping chest pain when you breathe (pleurisy) hard bumps of tissue under the skin on your arms loss of appetite weight loss See your doctor to get a proper diagnosis if you’re experiencing some of the early symptoms of RA. Cure Arthritis : http://health-and-beauty-base.com/o8l5 http://health-and-beauty-base.com/healthy-aging/arthritis/how-to-cure-arthritis-shoulder-pain.html Rheumatoid arthritis is considered to be an inflammatory condition. The cause of this disease is not yet known but there are some studies that indicate the immune system of the body attacks the tissues that surround the joints. More women than men suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. The disease usually hits those people in the age range of 20 to 50. However, it can also affect very young children in the form of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis symptoms are slightly different than rheumatoid arthritis in adults. The basic symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis may come and disappear over a period of time. Perhaps the most common symptom of rheumatoid arthritis is a swelling and pain in the joints, particularly in the smaller joints such as the feet and hands. After waking many patients experience an aching in the joints. This is a common arthritis rheumatoid symptom and can be very debilitating. Rheumatoid arthritis causes a loss of mobility in the joints that are affected, such as the knees. This can lead to a loss of strength in the muscles that surround the affected joints. When a patient becomes tired there can be a flare up of swelling which can cause problems with every day activities. Another arthritis rheumatoid sign symptom is a fever. Many patients will experience a low-grade fever that comes and goes from day to day.

This video is about Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis.Rheumatoid arthritis Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disorder in which the small joints of the hands and feet of the affected person get inflamed. It affects the lining of the joints and causes pain and swelling that may lead to joint deformity and erosion if left untreated. This disorder of the autoimmunological system occurs when the body's immune system attacks the body's own tissues. Although this medical condition usually causes joint problems only, sometimes it may go on to affect other body organs like skin, lungs, eyes and blood vessels as well. Some of the signs and symptoms that are indicative of rheumatoid arthritis are: 1. Problems in the joints One of the most common symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis is swelling of the joints that become tender and painful. During the early days, only the smaller joints are affected, especially the finger and toe joints. However as the disease worsens, the symptoms spread to other body parts like knees, wrists, elbows, ankles etc. Joint redness and warmth are also characteristic features of rheumatoid arthritis. It is also recognized by joint deformity and stiff joints. 2. Fever, fatigue and loss of weight Fatigue is a common symptom of rheumatoid arthritis. It may be a result of the body's reaction to insomnia, anemia, and inflammation. It may also be caused due to loss of appetite and the consequent and unintended weight loss. Sometimes rheumatoid arthritis is also accompanied by fever. 3. Rheumatoid nodules Another symptom of rheumatoid arthritis is the presence of firm bumps of tissues under the skin on the arms. These bumps are known as rheumatoid nodules and may be painful. The nodules may come and go depending on the severity of the disease at a particular time. During flares, they may appear, and they may subside during the periods of remission just as all the other symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

Smoking. 5:55 #Arthritis #Food #Diet Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music Summary: 1. Gluten and wheat. These two products can produce an inflammatory response even if you are not gluten or wheat intolerant. A leaky gut (which is an actual medical term now) has been linked to joint pain. A leaky gut lets toxins into the bloodstream which can then lead to inflammation around the joints. Because arthritis causes inflammation in joints, it can be extremely painful, resulting in swollen and stiff joints. This can impact the quality of a person’s life. According to the arthritis foundation, gluten can cause flare ups of arthritis symptoms. 2. Dairy. Almost all dairy products contain a type of slow digesting protein called casein. Casein protein can have the potential to irritate the tissues around the joints. This will then evolve from a joint irritation into a full-blown inflammation. 3. Corn oil. Corn oil should be avoided since any food with abnormally high doses of omega-6 fatty acids can have the potential to cause inflammation. An excess of any oil, such as canola, grapeseed or sunflower, can lead to inflammation. It is easy to overindulge in these omega-6 fatty acids since so many foods contain this compound. 4. Fried and processed foods. It should be pretty straightforward as to why the reduction in fried and processed foods can eliminate or reduce inflammation and subsequent joint pain. 5. Foods that have been fried, grilled, heated or pasteurized. A toxic byproduct, known as advanced glycation end product (or AGE), is found in many fried, grilled, heated or pasteurized foods. It can actually cause inflammation. When these AGE foods are consumed, it elicits an autoimmune response since some proteins in the body are ‘attacked.’ This then causes the onset of arthritic symptoms due to increased inflammation. 6. Select vegetables. Vegetables such as eggplants, peppers, potatoes, and tomatoes can actually worsen arthritis pain. This is because a compound called solanine which is found in these vegetables can create ‘adverse physiological reactions’ in people with arthritis. 7. Sugar. Things like fructose, glucose, and sucrose can stimulate molecules in the body which will then stimulate inflammation. You should also avoid drinking carbonated drinks, which are loaded with sugar and are extremely high in calories. This can lead to weight gain and inflammation. If you are trying to cut sugar out of your diet, you can opt for sugar free alternatives, add more fruits and veggies to your diet, and avoid over indulging on sweets. 8. Refined carbohydrates. White flour products such as white bread, white potatoes, and most cereals can cause inflammation since they are high on the glycemic index. Furthermore, refined carbs may increase the risk of obesity. Obesity is one of the primary risk factors of arthritis. 9. Alcohol and tobacco. Alcohol and tobacco have been linked to a specific type of arthritis called rheumatoid arthritis. Tobacco and alcohol use can lead to a large variety of different health problems, including inflammation. Smokers are at a higher risk for developing rheumatoid arthritis, while alcohol can increase a person's risk of developing gout. So try to cut back on drinking and smoking, and make healthier choices which includes getting adequate rest and exercise. 10. Smoking. Smoking is a big factor in the symptoms associated with rheumatoid arthritis. People who have smoked for more than 20 years are at a much higher risk of developing severe rheumatoid arthritis. Smoking can also decrease the effectiveness of certain drugs which are used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Scientists suspect that smoking can also affect the immune system's functionality. Luckily, smoking is an environmental risk factor, and is also completely preventable. If you smoke and have arthritis, you should consider quitting. If you need help quitting, speak to your doctor today. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Bestie : https://goo.gl/tUqro6 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bestieinc/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.bestie.com/
