Slow motion ball: You need a thick liquid, preferably honey, a heavy ball, and a sphere shaped container. Place the heavy ball in the lower half of the sphere. Fill the lower half of the container with honey a little more than half. If you use too little or too much, it will affect the motion of the ball. 2. Water fire starter. Credit goes to The King of Random for this idea. Be sure to check out his channel. He has a huge selection of amazing how to experiments. https://www.youtube.com/user/01032010814 You need a plastic or glass container with a curved area. The Pom bottles work great. Fill the bottle with water. Fold 2 sheets of paper in half, twice. Print or scribble a black mark on one of the sheets. On a sunny day hold the bottle near the paper, focusing the light on the black area of the paper. Once it starts to smoke and a hole begins to form, wrap the other sheet of paper around the smoking piece. Wave the papers through the air to feed oxygen to the spark. Continue this until the paper catches on fire. 3. No-leak magic bag: Al you need is a zip baggy, pencils and water. Fill the bag almost to the top. Zip it shut, and start sticking pencils through the bag. Sometimes a few drops will leak out, but overall, this is a simple yet impressive trick 4. Liquid Stacking: You'll need a tall glass or bottle. Dish Soap, vegetable oil, dark corn syrup, rubbing alcohol, water and food coloring. First add the dark corn syrup, then dish soap, then add food coloring to the water and pour it in with the bottle tilted, then add the vegetable oil (bottle tilted), and finally add food coloring to the alcohol and pour it in with the bottle tilted. 5. Invisible Bottle: You need glycerin, a glass and a bottle that will fit in the glass. Fill both glass and bottle with glycerin and place the bottle in the glass. It looks like the bottle disappears. 6. Dancing Liquid: You need a powered speaker, a tone generator (can be found online), corn starch, water and plastic to protect the speaker. Pour 1/2 cup of corn starch in a bowl and 1/4 cup of water. Mix. Pour the liquid into the speaker and generate a 60hz tone. 7. Magic Water Barrier: You need 2 of the same glasses. Hot water, cold water, food coloring and a thin piece of plastic or cardboard. Pour the hot water in 1 glass, the cold in the other glass, add food coloring, then place the plastic on top of the hot water glass. Turn the glass upside down, place it on top of the cold water glass, then carefully remove the plastic. Hot water is less dense than cold water, so it "floats" on top of the cold water. 8. Leidenfrost effect: You need a pan, water and a stove. Turn the heat on high for about 4 minutes then add the water. This experiment can stain your pans. 9. Reverse Illusion: Add all sorts of images or words behind a glass, then watch as it reverses when you add water in the glass. 10. Reversing Liquid: You need 1 big glass, 1 smaller glass, 3 mixing glasses, corn syrup, pipettes, food coloring, and clips. First pour the corn syrup into the 2 bigger glasses. Place the smaller glass inside of the bigger glass. Attach the clips to prevent the smaller glass from moving side to side in the bigger glass. Pour a small amount of corn syrup into the 3 mixing glasses. Add food coloring and stir. Fill each pipette with a different color, then add the colored corn syrup to your big glass. Turn the smaller glass carefully and watch the colors mix. Turn it back and watch them unmix. Thanks for watching! Have fun!

New Video from New Jersey Department of Children and Families Provides Parents And Caregivers Tips To Keep Children Safe Around Water Drowning Is Second Leading Cause of Death Among Children 1 To 4 Years of Age TRENTON – Seeking to help parents and guardians keep small children safe around water this summer, the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) has produced a new video featuring important water safety information. The video is available to the public and for online sharing by visiting https://youtu.be/1BoMrq4y_CA. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drowning causes more deaths among children 1 to 4 years of age than any other cause except birth defects. Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related deaths among children ages 1 to 14, trailing only motor vehicle crashes. Seven children and youth drowned in New Jersey last year. Two deaths occurred in the ocean, two in residential pools, and one in a residential pond. “Adults must be vigilant when small children are near water, and under no circumstances, should a child ever be left unsupervised near water,” said DCF Commissioner Allison Blake. “It just takes a moment’s distraction and very shallow water for a child to drown. This water safety video will help parents and guardians keep children safe and make sure this summer is fun for everyone.” “It takes about two inches of water for a child to drown,” said Dr. Puthenmadam Radhakrishnan, a pediatrician. “You need to have constant supervision by adults at all times. Whether the child is by themselves or with a group, it’s very important that there always be an adult supervising this activity.” The CDC notes the primary factors affecting drowning risks are: lack of swimming ability, lack of barriers to prevent unsupervised water access, lack of close supervision while swimming, location of the body of water, failure to wear life jackets, alcohol use, and seizure disorders. “It takes only 20 seconds for a small child to slip under the water without thrashing or yelling for help,” said Nicole Bizuga, aquatics director for the Hamilton YMCA in Hamilton. “Parents should always be in the pool and in arm’s length of their child.” When visiting the beach with a small child, it’s important to find a lifeguard, says Mike Tomaino, lifeguard supervisor with the Monmouth County Park System. “Swim near a lifeguard and always keep small children in clear view and close so you can get to them if there’s a problem,” said Tomanio. “Ask the lifeguard about water conditions and the best place where your child can enjoy the ocean safely.” DCF and New Jersey Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics recommends parents and caregivers follow several tips to help keep young people safe in and around water: • Never leave children swimming unattended. Drowning can occur in an inch or two of water. • Stay within an arm’s length of small children in water to protect against rapid drowning. • Warn children to never swim at a pool or beach alone or without a lifeguard. • Train children to swim at an early age. • Teach children swimming in a pool is far different than swimming in open water. • Be certain only qualified and undistracted adults are entrusted with supervising children in water. • Always empty inflatable pools, buckets, pails, and bathtubs after each use. • Personal floatation devices do not guarantee water safety. DCF has also produced a new poster listing these tips. The Northeast Spa and Pool Association is distributing the poster to spa and pool retailers in New Jersey for display in their stores. The new water safety video was produced with assistance from New Jersey Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics, Monmouth County Park System, Monmouth County Public Information Office, Northeast Spa and Pool Association, Hamilton YMCA, Crystal Springs Family Aquatic Center, and the Pool and Spa Place. DCF is dedicated to ensuring a better today and an even greater tomorrow for every individual the department serves. In partnership with New Jersey's communities, DCF ensures the safety, well-being, and success of New Jersey's children and families. DCF funds and directly provides services and support to over 100,000 women, children, and families each month. # # #

Over 72% of the earth is covered with water called Oceans and Seas There are five major Oceans of the world, and although these Oceans are all connected, they each have a different name. They are; The Pacific Ocean…the Atlantic Ocean…the Indian Ocean…The Southern Ocean (also called the Antarctic Ocean) …and the Arctic Ocean. Here are some specific facts about each ocean. Pacific Ocean: Located between the continents of Asia, N./S. America & Australia ~The largest of the 5 oceans, covers 30% of the Earth’s surface. ~ The word Pacific means peaceful, but the ocean is not calm or peaceful. ~ Many volcanoes are located in the ocean: The “Ring of Fire”. ~ The deepest part is nearly 7 miles below the surface. ~ The Great Barrier Reef is located off the Australian coast. Atlantic Ocean: Located between the continents America, Europe, and Africa ~ About half the size of the Pacific Ocean ~ Many sharks are found in the waters of the ocean. ~ Islands located in the Atlantic include the Bahamas and Greenland, which is the largest island on Earth. ~ The word Atlantic means “Sea of Atlas”. ~ Cities on the Atlantic Ocean include Miami and London. Indian Ocean: Located between Africa, Australia and parts of Asia ~ Largest breeding grounds of the world for humpback whales. ~ The Suez Canal in Egypt is a waterway in the ocean. ~ Cities along the ocean include Mumbai, India; Perth, Australia; and Singapore. ~ Many endangered species live here such as turtles and seals. Arctic Ocean: Located around the North Pole across the Arctic circle ~ Home to many of the Polar Bears of the world. ~ Smallest ocean and most shallow, but is the coldest. ~ Sometimes called the “frozen ocean”, almost completely covered in ice during the winter, ~ There are more fish species here than anywhere else in the world. Southern Ocean: Located around the South Pole across the Antarctic circle ~ Home to the Emperor Penguins and Wandering Albatrosses ~ Sometimes it is also called the Antarctic Ocean ~ Icebergs are found throughout the Southern Ocean ~ No people live along the coast of the ocean Thank you for following Clarendon Learning. Water is a basic resource that guarantees the life of all living beings on the planet. However, its scarcity and pollution cause millions of people to have poor access to this much-needed asset. Although there are processes such as water treatment or desalination that facilitate its treatment, use and consumption in areas with quality or supply problems, it is first necessary to avoid its contamination. In this video we show you what are the main causes of water pollution, as well as its effects.
