Estrogen: How to Balance Hormones with Proper Food & Vitamins- Thomas DeLauer

08:14
Estrogen: How to Balance Hormones with Proper Food & Vitamins- Thomas DeLauer How do we balance estrogen and testosterone in our bodies and how do we know which estrogens are good or bad? You can check out more at http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com Estrogens are a group of hormones present in both women and men. Functions include: Puberty changes in women Fertility Plays a role in controlling cholesterol levels Helps bone health Affects the brain, including mood Also affects the heart, skin and other body tissues Affects heart and blood vessels In males, the maturation of sperm and labido maintenance Estrogen is produced by the ovaries, fat tissue, testis and adrenal glands. There are three kinds of estrogen: Estradiol - the primary kind of estrogen found in women during their fertile years Primarily produced in the ovaries, but also the placenta and adrenal glands Excess estradiol is implicated in many diseases, such as cancers and fibroids Found in both women and men Estriol - the estrogen associated with pregnancy A waste product of estrogen metabolism Estrone - the estrogen produced postmenopause Produced in tissues throughout the body, mainly fat and muscle tissues Known as the weakest form of estrogen Found in both women and men Estrogen levels change: Throughout the month when fertile, with peak estrogen in the middle of a woman’s menstrual cycle, signalling ovulation, and the lowest levels while bleeding. Estrogen levels drop after menopause. Problems can arise when your body produces too much or too little estrogen Too little - symptoms: Women Irregular periods Mood swings Loss of sexual desire Trouble sleeping Hot flashes Headaches Men Excess adipose tissue around the midsection Low sexual desire Too little causes: Anorexia Extreme exercise Medications Hypogonadism Post-childbirth Too much - symptoms: Women Irregular periods Weight gain Fatigue Low sex drive Depression and anxiety More intense premenstrual pain Cysts Men Erectile dysfunction Female characteristics, such as breasts Prostate enlargement and cancer Low sex drive Depression Fatigue Weight gain Too much causes: Obesity Puberty Diabetes Pregnancy High blood pressure Ovarian or adrenal gland tumors Medications When estrogen is broken down through aerobic metabolism, it can be broken into “good” or “bad” estrogen metabolites. The good metabolites, 2-hydroxyestrone (2-OHE), are estrogen antagonists. They have high antioxidant activity, providing protection for the heart and brain. The bad metabolites, 16-hydroxyestrone (16-OHE), are estrogen agonists. They have been implicated in causing cancer and weight gain. Therapies that increase the 2-OHE:16-OHE ratio are thought to decrease the risk for a number of estrogen-responsive cancers. Natural compounds found in food have been founds to be antiestrogenic and thus are being further explored to discover how to capture these benefits for possible cancer prevention and treatment. DIM (Diindolylmethane) DIM is a stable compound derived from the plant indole I3C (indole-3-carbinol) found in cruciferous vegetables. Dietary indoles found in cruciferous veggies such as broccoli and cabbage, have been found to exhibit chemoprotective and chemotherapeutic properties against many cancers. Its benefit has to do with hormone balancing. I3C has been found to decrease estrogen signaling and alter estrogen metabolism, leading to a reduced production of “bad” estrogen metabolites. DIM consumption has been linked to an increase in the production of the “good” estrogen metabolites and thus a resulting decrease in the production of the “bad” estrogen metabolites. -Increases the 2-OHE:16-OHE ratio One study on women with thyroid proliferative disease (TPD) found that supplemental DIM enhanced estrogen metabolism in such a way as to act as a dietary antiestrogenic supplement and in this way may decrease the likelihood of women to develop TPD. DIM has other hormone balancing properties and can contribute to more balanced hormones. -This more beneficial hormone balance can lead to a healthier metabolism The hormonal balance influence of DIM also positively impacts testosterone. For men, this estrogen metabolism has the added benefit of freeing up testosterone in the body. Free testosterone is important for mood, energy and labido. References: 1. 5 Foods That Destroy Your Hormones and Skin

04:06
Once we leave the teenage years, we may think acne is a thing of the past. But later in life, an imbalance of hormones can shake things up and acne takes center stage again. An endocrine imbalance is the culprit responsible for triggering hormonal acne. Women in mid-cycle and/or right before their periods are easy prey. These are the two times a month when estrogen and testosterone spike. These two hormones can accumulate if not properly detoxed. And when estrogen dominates, the complexion is fertile ground where inflamed skin and acne can thrive. Luckily there is a natural solution that may provide relief. The first step is to pay attention to your diet. The food you ingest can disrupt your hormones which in turns, produces inflammation. But on the flip side, the right kinds of food can balance hormones and soothe your skin. In today’s video we’ll examine the foods which work for and against your hormones. Foods to Avoid 1. Soy Soy has been on the suspect list of instigating acne. If you think you are sensitive to soy, try eliminating it from your diet and see if your condition improves. It contains phytoestrogens which can create a hormonal imbalance. 2. Dairy Excess dairy consumption can contribute to a surplus of hormones that can lead to acne. Dairy is also a primary cause for leaky guy syndrome. 3. Gluten Like dairy, Gluten can disrupt hormones. It can create intestinal inflammation and produce a domino effect of health issues. 4. Caffeine Caffeine is a kick-starter for millions every morning. Yet it often comes with a tradeoff. It can take its toll on your skin’s immune response. A steady combination of coffee and tea can strip away many essential vitamins which are essential to maintaining a vibrant complexion. 5. Canola, Sunflower, Safflower and Vegetable Oil If you have acne-prone skin, put these oils on your radar as ones to avoid. They have certain nutrients that can ignite a fire storm on your complexion, especially during peak estrogen days. The Best Foods for Your Complexion 1. Avocados Avocados contain a substance that can bring hormone levels back under control. Adding avocados to your diet can be a natural defense system to ward off inflammation. 2. Turmeric Another spice you may already have in your kitchen cabinets is Turmeric. Besides its natural ability to reduce inflammation, pain and swelling, it’s also a remedy for your skin. 3. Chia Seeds One of the highest sources of omega-3’s in nature can be found in this gluten-free grain. These little marvels can stabilize blood sugar, improve insulin sensitivity and keep blood pressure spikes in check. 4. Cinnamon In your spice rack, you may already have a secret weapon. Cinnamon. This aromatic spice contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that help regulate hormones. 5. Pomegranates Mood swings can be tempered by eating Pomegranates. They produce the same estrogens that female ovaries do. They also are rich in anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. -------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: The materials and the information contained on Natural Cures channel are provided for general and educational purposes only and do not constitute any legal, medical or other professional advice on any subject matter. If you answered YES to any of the above questions, then this video is for you. The reason being, it doesn't matter what your diagnosis is, any of the above symptoms are pointing to one thing... A dysfunction within your endocrine system, which is leading to imbalanced hormones and therefore, the above symptoms showing up. A while back I was suffering from all of the above symptoms. When I found myself looking for the solution to each of the problems, it didn't make any sense to take medication for the hair loss, then more medication for the acne, then more medication to regulate my period. Instead, I decided that I needed to understand the ROOT cause of PCOS and heal my body from this standpoint. Rather than addressing a collection of symptoms as if they are unrelated to one another, I started to search for the answer that would solve ALL of my symptoms. After months and months of seeing different prestigious doctors in New York City, studying the answers online, working with several natural healers and experimenting with many different diets, I started to understand the most truly powerful thing when it comes to healing the human body. No doctor, naturopath, holistic healer, diet, drug or supplement is as powerful as your own body. The human body is a tremendously powerful healing vessel that knows exactly what to do to recalibrate when things have gone off track. When given the support that your body needs and by removing the triggers that are causing more inflammation and stress... you body will start to heal, and you will start to look and feel AMAZING. I've seen these 8 steps melt away all of my symptoms. That's right. No more acne. No more hair shedding. No more weight gain. No more pain. My period is now a 34 day cycle (it used to not come for a year at a time). I've seen the same results on other people with all kinds of hormonal dysfunctions. So I know, if you commit to the steps I've listed in my 8 step program, you will see DRAMATIC results that will change your life. ...Excess androgens... ...Testosterone levels through the roof... ...Low progesterone... ...Estrogen dominance... All of these things many of us are facing are leaving us feeling depleted and simply put...like death warmed up. They are also leaving us feeling like we are turning into a man, which is TOTALLY NOT OKAY! Hormonal imbalances leave you feeling less than your sexy and feminine self. We want to feel womanly, alive, radiant and glowing. We want our partners to play with our hair and comment on our glowing skin. It's our birthright as women to feel good about ourselves! This program will help you to feel all of these things. You deserve to feel confident in your body. That is why I am offering many years and many $$ worth of information for FREE. ***************** Head to my blog to read more about hormonal balancing, weight loss and more. www.saraharmide.com _____________________________________________ Important Note: I went off track during talking about blood sugar balancing. You want to be focusing on the below proportions of macronutrients on your plate to keep your blood sugar stable between meals: - 50%-60% dark leafy greens and other vegetables of your choice - 15% protein (vegan or non-vegan, although vegan is preferred) - 15% grains (quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, brown rice are the gluten free grains you want to be focusing on) - 5% fats (coconut oil, avocado, olive oil, flaxseed oil, walnuts, almonds etc) - 5% sweet (front load your palette with something sweet to avoid cravings, add some dates, raisins, fruit, caramelised onions, honey or something sweet cooked into your meals) I will do a video on different meal suggestions soon... the idea is to eat as MUCH variety as possible. You want to expand the repertoire of what you are eating, not limit (aside from the non-hormonal-friendly trigger foods I mentioned). Eating for your hormones should be fun and not limiting.

9 Hormonal Imbalance Signs Everyone Should Know

07:41
Here are the 9 most common symptoms of hormonal imbalance that can negatively affect you. If you suspect that you have any of these symptoms, talk to your doctor immediately! The rhythm of life, with all its stresses and environmental problems, doesn’t let you fully take care of your physical health. Despite this fact, your body and the way you look may be sending you signals about major health concerns that need to be dealt with. We all want to look our best but this doesn’t necessarily have to involve overpriced salon services, cosmetics or exercise. Your own hormones can “speak” for themselves. The development of the human body greatly depends on the function of hormones. These tiny signaling molecules are responsible for our mood, emotions, behavior and even our looks. TIMESTAMPS Acne 1:07 Excess weight 1:47 Fatigue 2:32 Sweating 3:16 Dark circles under the eyes 3:53 Depression 4:39 Breast changes 5:24 Hair loss 5:59 Unwanted hair 6:37 SUMMARY - Outbreaks of acne can be the result of improper skin care, an unbalanced diet, or your menstrual cycle. However, if acne has become a consistent foe, it’s probably a symptom of a hormonal disorder. - Many people struggle with their weight their whole lives, resisting food cravings and doing exercise; others are thin without any particular effort. Hormone-related problems are most likely to be the culprit of this injustice. - Always feeling tired despite no changes in your habits or environment is a much more serious problem known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which can be a result of hormones that are off balance. - If you have fluctuations in your body temperature, the issue could be both neurological and hormonal. Again, contact a health professional if you feel like you’re experiencing these symptoms. - Chronic insomnia may be the result of testosterone insufficiency in men and progesterone insufficiency in women. The good news is that sleep deficiency due to hormonal imbalance can be cured! - Depression can be another symptom of fluctuating hormone levels. Anxiety and depression can occur just before a woman’s menstrual cycle, during pregnancy, and during menopause. If you’re having more frequent panic attacks and anxiety, talk to an endocrinologist. - Low levels of estrogen can make breast tissue less dense whereas excessively high levels of this hormone can cause lumps or cysts. If you notice any changes in your breasts or you feel any lumps in your breast tissue, consult a doctor immediately. - Excessive hair loss is one of the most common symptoms of hormonal imbalance. Take control of your eyesight and headaches. Worsening vision and frequent headaches may signalize instability in the pituitary gland, the hormone epicenter. Don’t just give up and blame it on stress and hard work. Get yourself checked out! Taking care of your health should be top priority. Know your body and listen to the signals it’s sending to you so that you can be in tip-top shape. Hormones are secreted by various glands and organs including your thyroid, adrenals, pituitary, ovaries, testicles and pancreas. The entire endocrine system works together to control the level of hormones circulating throughout your body, and if one or more is even slightly imbalanced it can cause widespread, major health problems. Gluten and Hormones Vitamins, minerals, and estrogen

08:25
http://www.glutenfreesociety.org/?p=5328 Gluten Sensitivity Hormones, and Vitamins Gluten is a known to disrupt a number of hormones, estrogen included. If you have been diagnosed with gluten sensitivity and you are having hormone related troubles keep reading. Often times woman are placed on prescription estrogens for birth control, for pre-menstrual symptoms (PMS), and for menopause symptoms (hot flashes...). Doctors will frequently prescribe estrogen pills without measuring for the presence of hormone dysfunction to treat the above symptoms. Unfortunately, there are a number of unintended nutritional side effects associated with taking estrogen... Removal of Gluten Often Times Resolves Hormone Imbalance I commonly see women in my clinic who are experiencing multiple hormone based problems. A large majority of these women report normalization of hormone related symptoms after discontinuing ingestion of gluten based foods. That is not to say that all hormone related diseases will spontaneously heal on a gluten free diet, but you should be aware that the connection is strong. The following diagram displays common reasons why women are prescribed estrogen based medications along with the nutritional deficiencies that estrogen has been shown to contribute to, and the side effects of these nutritional deficits... Do You Suspect A Hormone Imbalance? If you have abnormal cycles, excessive bloating, heavy carbohydrate cravings, headaches, swelling, heavy bleeding, and infertility issues, ensure that you do the following: Visit a functional medicine doctor to help you identify the underlying cause of the imbalance. Ask him/her to check your vitamin/mineral levels. Additionally, you might want to be checked for food allergies. Make sure that you get adequate sunshine -- sunlight helps to produce vitamin D and melatonin. Both of these hormones help regulate your endocrine system function. Get adequate sleep. Many of the hormones in our body are regulated through sleep. Remove and eliminate environmental estrogen exposure. Environmental estrogens are found in petroleum byproducts. These chemicals are commonly used to make plastics. This means do not eat, drink or store foods in plastic. Store food in glass. These chemicals are also found in the air and in water, so it is highly recommend that you filter your air and filter your water to remove as much as possible. Cosmetics and soy products are also sources of environmental estrogens. Eat organic foods. Many pesticides sprayed on foods are chemical estrogens. Eating organic will minimize your exposure to these chemicals. Exercise daily. The body depends on movement for adequate lymphatic flow and oxygen delivery. Additionally, daily exercise is critical for regulation of cortisol and epinephrine. https://www.glutenfreesociety.org/shop/ *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. What I Eat (and Do) for Balanced Hormones || Part Two ||

18:12
In my experience - and after a lot of research - I believe the best way to balance hormones is by getting out of the body's way! Your body knows how to be healthy and balanced, we simply need to give it the inputs it needs and do our best to avoid the stuff that can cause hormonal disruptions. In my late teens, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, PCOS, hypoglycemia, endometriosis, and progesterone/estrogen imbalance. My blood sugar, metabolism, mood, and cycles were incredibly messed up and impossible to control with the medications and dietary advice I was given and found on the internet. Nothing helped. Until I switched to a Whole Plant Food diet and made some other (pretty major) changes to my lifestyle. The details are in this video! Progesterone Deficiency Is Often Associated With Adrenal Fatigue

06:18
https://www.drlam.com/blog/progesterone-deficiency-is-often-associated-with-adrenal-fatigue/25524/ This is Dr. Lam, founder of DrLam.com and the Adrenal Fatigue Center. Today we’re going to talk about a very common question about women, which is how do I know if I need progesterone and whether I have progesterone deficiency or not? Now let us back up and take a look at the female hormones carefully. Progesterone and estrogen are the two main balancing hormones in the female. What progesterone does is to balance the effect of estrogen. Likewise, estrogen will balance the effect of progesterone. When either one is deficient, then the other becomes prominent. In other words, if you think progesterone deficiency is the same as not enough progesterone, which leads to an increase in estrogen effectiveness, progesterone deficiency can be looked at the same as what we call estrogen dominance. Without proper progesterone, the estrogen effect can be overwhelming. This is why people ask whether they need progesterone replacement or not. What are the causes of progesterone deficiency or estrogen dominance? It is oftentimes related to many factors. Number 1, remember that estrogen is made in three places in the body: in the ovaries, in the adrenal glands, as well as in the fat cells. If you have a lot of stress, the adrenal glands will put out more estrogen. If you have sugar in your diet or you have PCOS, then the body’s ovaries can produce more estrogen. If you have more fat in your tissues, then automatically your estrogen output will go up. Progesterone is usually made to oppose estrogen imbalance, as we said before. However, this balancing process may be deficient. For example, if you have a lot of stress, emotional or physical, the body is going to shunt some of the progesterone away to make cortisol in the adrenal glands. As a result, the progesterone level may go down. Similarly, if you have too much estrogen from the adrenal output and from fat tissues, and you don’t have enough progesterone to balance it, then you’re going to have a progesterone deficiency situation. Laboratory tests can often measure, to a certain degree, the free progesterone and free estrogen and their ratios by saliva. Serum has problems with the free levels except for testosterone. So for progesterone and estrogen, it’s not quite there yet. However, it is not 100% accurate. It does give us an idea. We know physiologically, the body produces approximately 20 milligrams of natural progesterone a day. Now, remember, this is natural progesterone. This is not the same thing as progestins. They are medications such as what is called Provera and birth control pills. Progestins are synthetic compounds that are prescriptions, which have the opposite effect as natural progesterone. When we talk about progesterone here, we’re talking about natural progesterone and not progestins. Now progesterone, as we said earlier, has an opposing factor to estrogen, so if you have increased estrogen, with symptoms such as endometriosis, fibroid, fibrocystic breast disease, and certain forms of cancer, then progesterone can be indicated. Now, the use of natural progesterone, however, has to be quite carefully titrated because, in certain people, it actually can make matters worse. In other words, remember that progesterone is a pro-growth and pro-gestation compound, so in certain types of fibroids, in certain types of people, fibroids can get worse and grow in the presence of natural progesterone. Is there a strict formula for progesterone replacement? The answer is no. It’s very important if you suspect that you have hormonal imbalances, to see somebody who really understands how the body works from a natural hormone perspective. A laboratory test from the serum is not very helpful but it very, very important to have a detailed history. Some trial and error is oftentimes necessary. If you start small, especially if you have adrenal fatigue, the consequences can be quite minimal and can be quite beneficial. However, for people who are in adrenal fatigue in advanced stages, progesterone, because it is metabolized by the liver, can actually make things worse. Simply taking progesterone because you read somewhere that it is good for your hormonal balance can actually be a wrong thing to do. Or even if it is the right thing to do at the wrong time at the wrong dosage can make things worse. So do be very careful. Do not simply just take progesterone if you have adrenal fatigue because you can have surprises and relapses and those are not very happy episodes, okay? High estrogen foods can be really harmful to your health by destroying your hormone balance. A lot of these foods with too much estrogen today can lead to health issues like hypothyroidism, autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue, and ovarian cancer. So, eliminate the following foods from your diet, and add more fruits and vegetables to naturally decrease estrogen in your body. Foods to avoid: 1.) Soy 2.) Sugar 3.) Conventional meat 4.) Conventional dairy 5.) BPA plastic and Teflon Pans If you want to start detoxing your body of estrogen, consume more cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collard greens, and brussels sprouts. Best Natural Leptin Supplement To Balance Weight Loss Hormones And Improve Fat Loss

03:49
http://healthnewswires.com/Natural-Leptin-Repair/ Leptin is a hormone responsible for weight loss and burning fat. The hormone is important for controlling hunger, burning calories, and for maintaining healthy body weight. When weight loss hormone imbalance happens, or if one becomes leptin resistant, it is common to gain weight, especially fat. Leptin supplements often help support healthy hormone production of leptin and weight loss. Leptin resistance affects nearly all the hormones responsible for weight control in the body. Found in body fat, leptin is more commonly found in large amounts in people who are overweight. As you lose weight, leptin is released, causing the brain to signal the body to crave sugar, eat more food, and feel hungry; this makes it difficult for people to lose weight, often hitting weight loss plateaus. http://www.prweb.com/releases/Leptin/Leptin-Supplement/prweb11739366.htm Leptin resistance is important in determining the proper amount of energy produced and burned by the body. When leptin resistance is present, levels of leptin are appropriate in the body, but the brain fails to recognize this. This causes the brain to send out starvation signals, encouraging people to eat more. When this occurs, it is best to consume a leptin resistance diet rich in lean protein and low in fat. Foods that increase leptin production include lean proteins like eggs, chicken, fish and grass-fed beef; it is best to avoid carbohydrates that are high in sugar and starches. Weight loss pills and leptin diet pills are much different that natural leptin supplements. The best natural supplements for leptin contain all natural ingredients and herbs that stimulate leptin production, increase leptin sensitivity and metabolism, decrease leptin resistance, and increase weight loss and fat burning.

10 Early Warning Signs Your Estrogen Levels Are Too High & How To Fix It

04:56
Nothing helps the body work like it should than when its hormones are perfectly balanced. The key to making sure that women’s bodies are hormonally balanced is making sure that their estrogen levels are where they need to be. Estrogen also plays an important role regulating the menstrual cycle. Bloating and a decreased sex drive are just two indicators of estrogen dominance—what takes place when your estrogen level gets and stays too high. Recognizing the signs and symptoms of too much estrogen can help you know to make sure your hormones stay regulated. Weight loss, high blood pressure, diabetes, and pregnancy are some of culprits of estrogen dominance. Let’s take a closer look at these and more. Here are 10 signs that you have estrogen dominance: 1. Weight Gain Putting on more than a few extra pounds can be an indication of too much estrogen. It causes bloating and makes it even harder to lose the weight. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, your estrogen can’t suffer rapid changes. 2. Heavy Menstruation When your estrogen levels rise, it can have the unwanted side effect of giving you a heavier period than normal. So, if that happens, you might want to consider having your estrogen level checked. 3. Decreased Sex Drive When you just don’t want intimacy with your significant other, it could mean a significantly increased amount of estrogen. High amounts of estrogen point to a lowered sex drive; however, you don’t want your estrogen to fall too low. It can also affect your desire for sex. 4. Irregular Period As we’ve already seen, your hormones and your period are closely related. When your estrogen fluctuates more than it should, the time between your period becomes unpredictable also. 5. Swollen Breasts When your hormone levels change, your breasts can become overly sensitive. So, when your breasts get tender to the touch, it might mean that you’ve got too much estrogen. 6. Changes in Mood Estrogen can affect your mental health. Too much of the female hormone has been attributed to panic and anxiety attacks as well as depression. 7. Frequent Headaches Have you recently experienced migraine headaches? Have you begun to get headaches more than normal? These issues could be cause by estrogen dominance. 8. Hair Loss When your body produces too much estrogen, your hair begins to thin. As it thins, it begins to fall out. Balancing your estrogen levels can take care of this irritating problem. 9. Insomnia When you’re having trouble sleeping, the cause could be too much estrogen. Our bodies know when there are problems and often times has problems adjusting. Sleep loss can be a reflection of that. 10. Cold Extremities Estrogen levels can affect circulation too. If your hormone levels are abnormal it could be the reason you're having a hard time keeping your hands and feet warm. Balance Your Hormone Levels with These 5 Foods 1. Rosemary Rosemary doesn’t just add flavor to your favorite recipes. It can also improve memory function, boost your metabolism, and contribute to a properly functioning thyroid. Best of all, rosemary is one of the foods responsible for producing estrogen. 2. Cruciferous Vegetables I3C, or indole-3-carbinol as this nutrient is properly known, is found in cruciferous vegetables like spinach, bok choy, kale, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli. These all have the important job of ridding the body of excess estrogen because the I3C converts into a substance that helps the liver flush the body when it has too much estrogen. 3. Flaxseed Another food that assists in getting rid of excess estrogen is flaxseed. The lignans and phytoestrogens present in these tiny seeds help regulate estrogen in the body by controlling how much of the hormone is able to bind to estrogen receptors. 4. Isoflavones Found in several herbs such as Trifolium pratense, Puerari montana, and Pueraria lobata, isoflavones have antioxidant properties that boost low estrogen levels. These herbs can be found in certain teas and are a great way to balance estrogen levels. 5. Activated Folic Acid You often hear about the importance of folic acid in women’s health. That’s because it’s present in the same leafy green vegetables that are high in I3C. It’s able to change estrogen into a form that actually lowers the risk of some forms of cancer. What Are Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms?

06:05
For more info: https://draxe.com/vitamin-d-deficiency-symptoms/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Apr-2015&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=vitaminddeficiency In this video I’m going to talk about the benefits of vitamin D as well as symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. In certain studies, Americans has been found to be the #1 population in vitamin D deficiency. Some of the main symptoms of vitamin D deficiency are a weakened immune system, candida or bacterial overgrowth, emotional ups and downs, hormone imbalance, trouble putting on muscle or losing weight, weakened bones or teeth, cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. Vitamin D supports having a healthy immune response, digestive health, hormone balance, and more. The biggest causes of vitamin D deficiency are not getting enough sunlight, certain chemicals from plastic bottles (bpa), and toxicity. Try to get outside everyday for about 20-30 minutes of natural sunlight. Certain foods that are sources of vitamin D are wild caught fish, raw fermented milk, mushrooms, and eggs. However, there are small amounts in the food you eat. For a good supplement, I would recommend a high quality vitamin D supplement. You don’t want to take vitamin D2, but you do want to take vitamin D3. For supplementation, take about 2000-5000 IUs a day. However, if you have a severe deficiency, then for 1-2 months, you may take 5000 IUs twice daily. Lastly, you want to take your vitamin D3 with some form of fat like coconut oil or avocado to help absorption in your body. For more on vitamin d deficiency, you can check out this article: http://draxe.com/vitamin-d-deficiency-symptoms/ *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. How to Reduce Cortisol Naturally (Stress Hormone)

05:45
Have you seen the self-help books on how to reduce stress? So which one has the real answer? Two reasons that spring to mind as instigators are: finances and romances. But that’s not all; there’s often a kaleidoscope of trouble brewing internally. The hypothalamus located in your brain starts to ring the alarm. Then the adrenal glands rev up production of cortisol – which is known as the stress hormone. In today’s video we’ll take an in-depth look at this steroid hormone and learn more about its function. Cortisol’s responsibilities Helps keep insulin in check Helps us remain in control as we respond to stress Helps regulate blood pressure Aids the immune system’s health It sounds like a good hormone, but a continuously high level of cortisol can lead to Cushing’s syndrome. Some of the causes of Cushing’s syndrome Chronic stress Adrenal gland problems Consuming too much alcohol Depression Symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome Mood swings Not your typical moody blue days – but days on end when you can’t seem to enjoy anything. Digestive problems When cortisol levels are too high, energy is diverted away from the gastrointestinal tract. This rerouting process reduces enzyme production, which hampers digestion. Heart disease and High Blood Pressure When too much stress in your life triggers an over-abundance of cortisol, it may elevate your blood pressure. This can place you at a higher risk of heart disease. Sleep problems When we awaken in the morning, cortisol is in full production mode to help us make the transition from sleep to life in the real world. Those who suffer from chronic stress have unstable cortisol concentrations, and they won’t have that extra burst of morning cortisol. Weight gain The next time you feel a craving for carb-laden foods and sweets, you may be able to blame it on cortisol. Having a high amount for an extended period can stimulate an appetite for food you wouldn’t ordinarily want to eat. Premature wrinkles Leave it to this pesky hormone to make a visible statement on our faces. High cortisol levels can dehydrate our skin, leaving it prone to premature wrinkles. Other symptoms include: Aches and pains, especially backaches More susceptive to infections, as cortisol may weaken the immune system Growth of facial hair in women Development of pinkish/purple stretch marks on non-pregnant women These symptoms develop gradually, at least in most cases. Therefore, it may take time before a problem is clearly recognized. But if you suspect you may have too much cortisol, you can make lifestyle changes to reduce it. How to lower your cortisol production 1. Eliminate caffeine It’s worth a try to eliminate it from you diet for 2 weeks. Reports indicate that 200mg of caffeine can elevate blood cortisol by 30% in only 1 hour. 2. Sleep deeper and longer Sleep deprivation can create a host of health issues. Perhaps you could try a natural substance, Inositol. It’s a branch of the vitamin B family and is naturally present in certain foods. 3. Exercise regularly Exercise is a stress buster. It not only builds muscle mass but it also causes your brain to produce serotonin and dopamine. These two brain chemicals reduce stress, depression and anxiety. 4. Keep your blood sugar stable That includes banning donuts and cookies from your plate. Consuming excess refined sugar and simple carbs can cause your insulin production to soar. 5. Drink more water Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water will also keep cortisol from spiking. Drink a glass of water when you go to bed and when you first awaken. 6. Take anti-stress supplements These can be found naturally in calcium, vitamins B and C, magnesium, zinc and CoQ 10 7. Meditate or listen to relaxation tapes Much of the music today can break the sound barrier. If you want to relax and lower your cortisol, turn on some soft music. Or try meditation. We have enough bad stuff on our plate – and that can get us tangled in knots. Take control and lower your cortisol. You’ll be glad you did. The Truth about Magnesium & Copper: Food Industry Secrets- Thomas DeLauer.. http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com - More Information on How to be Your Best Self Check out my Favorite Magnesium Brand at: http://www.JigsawHealth.com Magnesium is a mineral that many of us are deficient in because of the standard American diet. The numerous ways that magnesium deficiency are detrimental to health are many and with deeper understanding, the list continues to grow. -Impacts nerve and muscle health There are 18 essential minerals that play roles in all of our body processes. There are 4 that are of particular importance for liver and body health and balance: magnesium, calcium, iron and copper. These 4 are so important because much of our adverse health problems are caused by too much iron and too little magnesium. Magnesium and calcium act together as counterbalances. For example: -Mg calms cells, Ca excites them -Mg necessary to relax muscles, Ca (in concert with potassium) cause muscles to contract -Mg plays a role in keeping blood flowing; Ca is involved in blood clotting -Ca contributes to bone hardness: Mg found mostly in soft body structures -Ca is involved in the fight-or-flight response and in inflammation; Mg is involved in balancing this through calm and reducing inflammation It follows that if we are stressed, maybe caused by work, life, or even extreme exercise, we need plenty of magnesium to regain balance. Magnesium burn rate is the rate at which we burn magnesium. It appears that this rate increases as we age. The idea is to fix mitochondrial functioning through the balancing of magnesium, calcium, iron and copper. Why these four minerals? We have already discussed the importance of calcium and magnesium, so now we should understand iron and copper. Iron is the #1 most abundant mineral on earth. As we go through life, we accumulate iron. Mg and Fe fight over available oxygen. These two mineral events criss-cross at about 40 - when much of the illness, aches and pains kick in. This is largely due to excess iron and deficient magnesium. Iron oxide is involved in the aging processes inside of our mitochondria. It changes enzymatic pathways and can cause a lack of ATP, which our bodies need to function! ATP doesn’t work unless it is complexed with magnesium, which affects the functioning of 3700 proteins in the body. As we go through stress iron builds up in the liver, and as we age magnesium burn rate increases. This rate is also higher when we are under stress. Copper is another important mineral - you can’t make ATP unless you have bioavailable forms of copper. Copper is the mineral that makes sure that things are oxidized properly. Dr. Morley’s RCP: Concentrate on the stops and the starts to get this in balance. Stops: 1. Stop taking hormone/vitamin D a. V D stops the liver’s production of ceruloplasmin i. Low vitamin D due to low magnesium. Every facet of VD metabolism is magnesium dependent. Taking VD can make the situation worse 2. Stop taking calcium and iron supplements 3. Stop taking ascorbic acid 4. Stay clear of high fructose corn syrup and colors 5. Stop lowfat - have plenty of fat in the diet, it is important 6. Stop using industrialized oils based on omega-6 fats 7. Steer clear of fluoride - far reaching and profound effect 8. No multivitamins or prenatals 9. No citrate - disrupts liver’s ability to make ceruloplasmin 10. No colloidal silver - it impacts copper status (silver sits below copper on the periodic table) Starts: 1. Use cod liver oil 2. Start magnesium supplementation 3. Whole food vitamin c 4. Forms of B-vitamins from way of mother nature - bee pollen, rice bran, beef liver 5. Use silica - helps to pull aluminum out of the liver 6. Start ancestral diet 7. Take boron, taurine and iodine Learn to distinguish between functional and absolute iron deficiency - almost impossible to have a total shortage of iron, but you can have a shortage of functional iron. Happens when don’t have enough bioavailable copper. Anemia of chronic inflammation leads to low Mg, low ceruloplasmin, low serum iron, etc. Excess unbound iron will lead to a loss of magnesium due to pH of a cell to be too acidic which leads to magnesium loss which leads to inflammation. Inflammation is a clinical indication of deficient magnesium, which was originally determined in 1992 in a study on rats where magnesium deficient diets led to an increase in inflammatory markers. Inflammation is a gateway to many diseases. Additionally, pathogens feed on iron, so we do not want to have excess iron levels in our diet. References: 1.
