Click Here to Subscribe: http://Bit.ly/ThomasVid Website: http://ThomasDeLauer.com Most People Do HIIT Cardio Wrong – How to Do HIIT - Thomas DeLauer High intensity interval training is a whole different ball game than what most people think that it is, and in this video, I want to give you a breakdown of a) what high intensity interval training really is, but b) what kind of cardio you should be doing when you're intermittent fasting, or what you need to know to at least make an informed decision. The first thing I want to talk about before I even get into anything that has to do with fasting is truly give you the breakdown of what high intensity interval training should truly look like and what you're actually trying to accomplish. Most people look at high intensity interval training as just this way to get a crazy lung burner, just an awesome workout where you feel like you just torched a bunch of calories. That's all fine and dandy but it doesn't always elicit the best metabolic response and it doesn't always elicit the best body composition response. You don't always get the desired outcome. You may feel like you accomplished something, but that's not because high intensity interval training is bad, it's because most people are doing it wrong. Here's the thing. When we're doing high intensity interval training, we are activating the anaerobic system of the body. So I want you to think of high intensity interval training cardio the same way that you would think of weight training. Weight training operates with the same metabolic business in your body that high intensity interval training does. It's utilizing carbohydrates as a source of fuel. What that means is you're in that rep range of maybe 6 reps all the way up to 15 reps in the weight room, well it's the same kind of thing that you're burning when you're doing a high intensity interval training workout. Let me give you an example of what most people think HIIT looks like. Most people will go ahead and they'll do one minute of high intensity exercise and then one minute off, then they'll go back and they'll do one minute on and one minute off. This is great to [inaudible 00:01:45] a process, I understand that it makes it easy, but that's not how the body works. The body doesn't necessarily know what one minute is or what two minutes are. The body just knows when it's fully fatigued or not. The whole idea with high intensity interval training is you need to, 100%, be pushing it to the max, and then recovering for however long it takes, whether it's 30 seconds, one minute, two minutes, to be able to be fully recovered to give it 100% again. So it varies from person to person on how long the rest period should be. It is absolutely not uniform. So for example, you should be doing your high intensity training all the way, pedal to the metal for like 15, 20 seconds, because quite honestly, that's about how much energy you have stored up in your body to really perform at 90 to 100%. If you're going longer than 20 or 25 seconds, then you're not pushing it at 90 or 100%. Plain and simple, period. You should be going all the way, then recovering as much as you possibly need to to be able to afford to push it 100% again. If you're going at one minute on, one minute off, you're probably going something like 50, 60% of your maximum and then just recovering for however long it takes. That doesn't really add up. We need to elicit the metabolic response that we get when we would normally weight train, where we're going all the way to failure. Now let's talk about how this applies with fasting. When you are in a fasted state, your body is not utilizing carbohydrates as a source of fuel. When you are fasted, your body is using ketones. It's using fat. It turns fats into ketones. When you are doing high intensity interval training, you're utilizing carbs. Now I hear a lot of people talking about how high intensity interval training is going to help them get into a fasted state easier. Not really the case. You see, once you're already fasting, your body just stores the glycogen and puts it away. It's not like you have to burn through all your glycogen first before you start burning fat. It's really just how long you are going without eating before your body starts using fat. So it's not like you have to drain your tank and then start using fats. Doesn't quite work all the way like that, although it does in some cases, but high intensity interval training isn't gonna get you to the benefits of fasting any faster.

That said, in this video I show you the 8 best bodyweight exercises you can do and how you can cover all the major muscles in your body with them. Most bodyweight workout routines are nothing more than glorified aerobics that cost you lean muscle while doing them. This doesn’t have to be the case. If you choose the right exercises and follow the proper progressions and regressions, bodyweight training can be just as effective at building muscle as any other workout. The 8 bodyweight exercises that were chosen are as follows: 1. Pullups - The pullup is one of the best back exercises you can do, even if you have access to a gym. Should you want a challenging alternative, I show you how to mix up your grip and perform the Commando Pullup for an even more intense back exercise with the added benefit of working your forearms and biceps. 2. Chin Up Knee Up - This exercise hits the biceps and abs equally hard as it breaks down the chinup into two parts. If you’re looking to get more out of your bodyweight exercises you have to put more in them. This is a perfect combination movement that helps you to kill two muscles with one move. 3. Slick Floor Bridge Curls - This posterior chain exercise hammers your glutes and hamstrings and happens to be one of the most intense bodyweight leg exercises you can do for this area. In fact, this exercise is as challenging as most weighted glute/ham exercises you’d have at your disposal if you were training in a gym. 4. Levitation Squats - Time to hit your quads with this awesome lower body no equipment exercise. By positioning your leg behind your body you make it easier to perform this single leg killer without having your balance be your limiting factor (as it may be during the pistol squat). Be sure to keep your back foot raised off the ground to keep the work on the front leg only. 5. Divebomber Pushups - You knew there would have to be a pushup variation in this list of 8 best bodyweight exercises in order to hit your chest. That said, this dive-bomber version hits your chest, shoulders and triceps equally hard at different points in the range of motion. Add the one and a half rep style for an even more advanced challenge. 6. Mule Kicks - This is a perfect bodyweight conditioning exercise that also puts an overload on your shoulders. Think of it as a closed chain plyometric bodyweight shoulder exercise that crushes your stamina at the same time. Sound fun? 7. Kickthrough Burpees - On this channel, we train like athletes. There may be no more athletic version of the burpee than this one, and that is why I love it. This is yet another bodyweight only movement that will challenge your upper body, lower body and core while pelting away at your ability to breathe. 8. Front Lever - Finally, the challenging front lever exercise lands the last spot on the 8 best bodyweight exercise list. Don’t worry if you can’t do it yet, you will. Basically, you throw a dart and then a Vicon motion capture system tracks the dart in the air. We use those x,y,z positions in matlab to predict where the dart will land using some regression analysis. Once we know where it will land, we move the board to the right spot using 6 stepper motors that attach to the back of the board using fishing line. All of this happens in 400ms or so. Build a ripped athletic body with just a few dumbbells http://athleanx.com/x/perfect-home-workout-program Dumbbells are definitely one of the best form of workout equipment due to their ability to be used in small spaces and their high degree of athletic carryover. With their three dimensional freedom, dumbbells allow you to workout in all planes of motion and require a great deal of core strength and stability to use them properly. That said, choosing the best dumbbell exercises ever can be quite a challenge since there are so many to choose from. In this video, I picked the 8 best exercises with dumbbells and give you a reason why each has earned its spot. To begin, lets take a look at the best dumbbell exercises. They are: Dumbbell Curl and Press Crush Grip Goblet Squats Thrusters Farmers Carries One Arm DB Incline Bench Press DB Pullovers Swings Tripod Dumbbell Rows Each of these exercises require either just a single dumbbell or two dumbbells. They were chosen given their ability to work multiple muscle groups in one dumbbell only workout. The more muscles you can train in one workout the quicker your training session will be and the more impact you can have on your body in a shorter period of time. Dumbbell only workouts can be incredibly challenging. In fact, some people think that you can’t effectively train your legs with db’s since you aren’t able to load up the weight high enough. That’s not true at all. You can choose exercises that you load with even 100lb dumbbells and perform on a single leg and you are sure to be pushing yourself to your limits. The same can be said for dumbbell chest workouts and dumbbell back and arm workouts. The fact that you aren’t using a barbell does not sacrifice the quality or effectiveness of the training session. That said, you cannot continue to lift light dumbbells and think that you are going to get a great enough workout. Even if you are training at home, aim to lift the heaviest dumbbells that you can lift if you want to build muscle in your workouts. There are a lot of different types of ball making fixtures, but this one is unique because it allows you to offset your cutting tool so that the rest of the fixture doesn't get hit by spinning lathe jaws.

In this video, I’m going to show you a single ab workout routine that you can do for the next 22 days straight that is going to help to carve up that midsection of yours and give you a jump start on getting your abs to pop year round. There are just 6 exercises in this ab workout, each one hitting the abs from one of their primary functions. No equipment is required to perform this ab workout routine. Because of this fact, there are no excuses either. You will be able to do this workout for your abs in just minutes and you won’t need any elaborate setup to get it done. It can be done in the comfort of your own home or in the gym if you so choose. The key to this ab workout plan is that you perform it for 22 days straight. There are two reasons for this time period. First, it gives you an opportunity to start seeing noticeable changes in your abs particularly if you pair this with a dedicated effort to improve your nutrition. You will never be able to see your abs if they are covered in fat. You need to start getting serious about your diet and eating if you want to strip away the fat and show the results of your hard work and effort. The second reason for doing this for 22 days is to help this become part of your lifestyle. They say it takes 22 days of doing something for it to become a habit. We are going to try and create a positive habit here by getting you used to training your abs. Don’t worry. The abs are a resilient postural muscle group that is built for high volume and frequent training sessions. The exercises in this ab workout follow a specific sequence. They start with those that target the lower abs using bottom up movements. These are where the top of the body from the waist up stays rather stationary while the bottom does the movement. This can be seen in the heels to the heavens exercise. Next you perform a bottom up rotation movement. This one is going to be filled by the step through planks. Here you want to try and keep your upper torso still again while you create rotation from the bottom using your legs to step through and across your body. You will be able to feel this burn almost from the first few reps. Keep going until you reach the extinction time as described in the video. Move on next to the midrange movement known as the “X” man crunch. This is a great way to bring both the top to the bottom and the bottom to the top. Aim for completing the 12 reps that are suggested for extinction on this ab exercise and move onto the final three exercises. These will hit the obliques, top down movements and top down with rotation. You will see that this is not going to take very long. The benefit and power of this ab workout is that it is hitting the abs and obliques from every angle and in each of the 6 primary ways of hitting them. In order to have your abs to show, you need to reduce your body fat (have a decent diet that facilitates your body fat reduction) and perform cardio the 1st thing in the morning. Now that you have the body fat reduced, you need to develop the abs and create separations. Here's how... Alpha's Go To Ab Routine Basic bench crunch - after getting into position, keep legs slightly bent, come up and pause. Alpha gives alternates for less and more intense options. 15 reps with dumbbell then 15 reps without the weight. Do three (3) sets of 30 reps. Hanging Leg Raises - Alpha gives options to perform this exercise with pros and cons. It's about control, that little squeeze, and that little pause. He gives options to make the exercises less and more challenging. He also gives an option to hit the obliques. Go for three (3) sets. Cable Crunch - it's a personal favorite of Alpha but is more difficult to feel. Your butt doesn't move. Only the upper body moves with a pause. Go for 15 - 20, three (3) sets. The Ball Crunch - not the most masculine looking but one of the most effective. Chin to ceiling with the ball in the small of your back, go up, pause, and down. If you quiver, all of your muscles are engaged. You don't need to go super fast. Go 10 slow with a pause. Then go for 10 pulses. It's a great way to finish off those abs! String of two of these together for a superset. Alternate back and forth for 3 sets. Perform twice a week with a few days in between. If you squeeze, go slow, and contract, you'll feel it for days. Get Ripped Abs in 90 Days - http://athleanx.com/x/my-workouts Subscribe to this channel here - http://bit.ly/2b0coMW If you want to get awesome lower abs then you need to start by avoiding the common mistakes people make when training this area of the abdominals. In this video, I’m going to show you the fastest way to get your lower abs to pop and the 4 steps you need to take to make sure you don’t get hung up along the way. The first key to a six pack is to make sure that your nutrition is not just decent but great. There is no way to get your lower abs to show year round if you cannot commit to anything more than just a decent diet. Men tend to store the majority of their body fat in their lower bellies. It is often the last to come off when losing body fat and dieting down. This means that unless you are locked in on a consistent, high quality nutrition plan you likely won’t see this area get lean enough to really see your lower abs. Now, the method you choose to get down in the body fat range where seeing the lower abs is possible is up to you. Some will swear by 6 meals a day, others by intermittent fasting, others by keto, etc. Honestly, I don’t care which it is that you follow but you better make sure that whatever you choose it is something that allows you to be consistent with it for the long term. Too many diet plans for 6 pack abs wind up being temporary. You lose weight and body fat enough so that you can see the lower abs for a short period of time but wind up putting it all back on because the diet is not something you can stick with. Don’t let that happen to you. Find something that you can enjoy and you will have found your lower abs for life. Next, we have to address the common mistakes made in how we perform our ab exercises. While the rectus abdominus is a single muscle that contracts all or none, you cannot simply perform top down ab exercises like crunches and expect to get the same level of development as if you performed lower ab exercises. Lower ab exercises are those that move from the bottom up. The key to these exercises is that the added weight of the legs that needs to be overcome on each rep is enough to provide an overload and a stimulation of the type II fibers of the abdominals. When these are activated and trained, the abs will hypertrophy a bit and stand out more making them more visible when body fat levels are low. This leads to the next big ab training mistake however. You have to make sure that you don’t confuse simply moving your legs with effective targeting of the lower abs. In order to train the lower ab muscles the right way you need to focus on moving the pelvis rather than the legs. When the pelvis moves, the legs will come along for the ride naturally due to their connection at the hip joint. Regardless of whether you are doing hanging ab raises or lower ab exercises on the floor, the same key applies. Be sure to posteriorly rotate your pelvis in order to activate the lower abs and stop focusing on simply raising and lowering the legs which is more of a hip flexor dominant movement. Finally, you will want to expand your understanding of the core if you want to get your lower abs to show better. This means, looking to stabilize the pelvis from below by contracting the adductors on every rep of every exercise you can for your bottom most abs. This means just crossing your legs and squeezing them together at the knees on most hanging or seated ab exercises. So here is the blueprint to getting awesome abs. Daily complete workouts for more than just a big back here http://athleanx.com/x/build-the-complete-physique-here A complete back workout needs a few elements in order to be called this. First of all, if you want to build a complete back you need to focus on building lat width or v-taper, lat thickness or density, and the often overlooked lower back endurance and strength. Many people tend to overlook the last component of this as it is not as impressive as the first two. That said, if you are one of them, you are likely holding back the kind of lats size and strength that you could be seeing from your hard back workouts. Let me explain. The strength of your lumbar paraspinals is crucial if you want to develop a complete back. Your lats and rhomboids rely on the stability that your lower back muscles can provide you for the big lifts. Think about the deadlift, row, or the barbell dead row (as seen in this video) and realize just how important the stability of the lower back is to helping you lift a lot of weight on those moves not to mention stay healthy when performing them. If your lower back is weak you will either break form and get injured or you won’t be able to create the stabile platform that your lats and upper back need to exert their strength. That said, in this back workout video, I show you a complete back workout routine that you can do to start building a seriously bigger, wider back. I start by targeting the mid back with heavy lat pulldowns and barbell dead rows. These two exercises aim to increase the thickness and width of the v-taper in the lats. I perform 3-4 sets of each with a weight that allows me to get 8-10 solid but heavy reps in good form. Before moving onto the next zone however I finish up this one with a combination exercise that targets the all important low back muscle endurance. I do this with the static hyperextension with dumbbell Y lift. Next I move onto the often times weaker upper back muscles. Here I hit them with the hi-boy rows and perpendicular landmine rows. These two exercises allow me to alter my bar path to allow my elbows to travel higher up on my chest. This allows me to work the upper back much more efficiently and overload once again with the same rep and loading scheme as before. Once again I finish with a new version of the static hyperextension exercise. This time I row a pair of dumbbells for 12-15 reps while trying to keep the tension and strength in my lower back. I finish with the angle of death back exercise. This complete back exercise is the perfect ending for the complete back workout. As you can see, it hits every part of my back and the rest of my posterior chain. I try to do as many reps as I can until failure. If you want to start looking much more athletic, with ripped muscles from head to toe, you need to start training like an athlete.
