Nonetheless, to some extent, this spice isn’t toxic, but there are individuals who have complained about nausea, diarrhea, stomach ache, and dizziness after turmeric consumption. To be on the safe side, consume only 50 mg daily. 5. Diabetics. Turmeric has been associated with lowered blood sugar levels. Therefore, if you are a diabetic, consume turmeric moderately in order to keep your blood sugar levels balanced. 6. People who will undergo surgery. Here are seven drugs you can replace with turmeric 1.Aspirin (Blood Thinner) Studies have shown that curcumic contains anti-platelet effects, which indicates that it may be a safer and more natural treatment option than aspirin, for patients who are prone to vascular thrombosis. 2.Metformin (Diabetes Drug) In a 2009 study, researchers found that curcumin is able to activate AMPK, which increases glucose uptake. According to the study, curcumin was found to be 500 times to 10,000 times more potent than metformin in activating activated protein kinase (AMPK). 3.Atorvastatin (Cholesterol Medication) In a 2008 study, researchers found that a standard preparation of curcuminoids from turmeric performed better than the drug atorvastatin or Lipitor.
