A video from Synaptic Growth about the lessons learnt from the Stanford Marshmallow experiment. What makes someone successful? There could be many answers to this, but one factor is undoubtedly, self control. The marshmallow test shows that one of the key factors in future success is to show discipline and self control. When you are able to have self control, you can practice delayed gratification which will allow you to achieve you goals. Sometimes you have to give up instant gratification, so you can reap the larger benefits in the future. Through repeated practice, discipline can be trained so you can be successful. So in short, delayed gratification + self control = success. ----- Visit the companion Blog post here! http://synapticgrowth.com/self-control-key-success/ Follow Synaptic Growth on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/synapticgrowth And Twitter: https://twitter.com/SynapticGrowth Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/synapticgrowth Thanks to: Selected clip art by vecteezy.com Music from bensound.com: “Acoustic Breeze,” and “Memories.” Additional reading: https://www.apa.org/helpcenter/willpower-gratification.pdf - Synaptic Growth

These are 8 real tricks to lose weight effortlessly. If you're looking to lose weight fast these are the easiest psychological as well as physical weight loss hacks that actually work. Both men & women want to burn all their body fat in just a week without dieting working out or cardio. Unfortunately there is no magic pill to lose stomach fat, but there are tips & tricks that can really help you go from lazy to motivated. 🔥 FREE 6 Week Challenge: https://gravitychallenges.com/home65d4f?utm_source=ytube&utm_term=effort Fat Loss Calculator: http://bit.ly/2yjjBDb TIMESTAMPS: You don't have to enjoy dieting & exercising in order to do it 1:10 Motivation Snowballs 4:59 Satisfy your hungry stomach before you satisfy your hungry mind 5:53 Incorporate foods that you actually enjoy 7:02 Incorporate daily activities that you enjoy 7:50 Treat your body like a temple 8:31 Feel successful and reward yourself 9:33 To have something to lose 10:13 If you've been looking for a way to lose weight effortlessly you've probably heard of things like drinking more water, eating smaller portions, taking fat burners, eating from smaller plates, using body wraps, chewing your food slower, & using the stairs instead of the elevator. But unfortunately the truth is that none of these tricks really work or at least they don't work to the degree that you need them to work to come any where close to making a noticeable difference. And the reason why these tricks don't work can be explained very easily with a quote from President Roosevelt that goes like this "nothing worth having was ever achieved without effort." The point is, no matter how hard you look you won't find the magic pill that lets you lose weight without putting any effort at all into diet & exercise. However, there are ways that you can change your mental disposition & your outlook to make weight loss a much more effortless process. Even though that doesn't sound as appealing as a magic pill, these methods are actually real & these psychological as well as physical tricks that I'm about to share with you in a second will really help you lose weight with less resistance from your mind & your body. Let's start with the very first one, you have to come to the understanding that you don't have to enjoy dieting & exercising in order to do it. And to prove this I'm about to tell you something that no other personal trainer has ever told you. After consistently working out for over 15 years, after being a personal trainer for over 10 of those years, after being a fitness model, & even after opening 3 of my own gyms I can admit that I never loved exercising. Ever. In fact most of the time I don't even enjoy it. Even now after all these years there are plenty of days where I absolutely hate working out. But I still do it, almost everyday regardless of how I think & feel about it. The reason why I bring this up is because realizing that you don't have to enjoy exercise to actually do it is a very very important distinction. It's important because so many people that struggle with weight loss believe that the other people that are in good shape are the types of people that love working out. Meanwhile theyyyy don't. So this creates a mental barrier that says I can never do what those "more athletic" people do because I'm different, I happen to hate exercise. The reality is that there are plenty of people in incredible shape that hate exercise just as much as you do. But the difference is that they realize that their thoughts & their feelings are not the same as the actions they take. So regardless of what you think or how you feel about exercising, I want you take this one action that can change your whole life.... just.... show... up. Now why would you just show up to something that you absolutely hate well there are two major reasons. The first one which is actually my next tip can be summed up with another quote... "the delay of gratification is exactly what leads to gratification." The point here is that sure eating a good diet & exercising might suck. I mean with exercise alone if you're doing it right you'll be covered in sweat, barely able to breath, while feeling sore all over your body...that sounds like torture, & in a sense it is... but something far worse than that feeling is the feeling you get from constantly reaching for instant gratification. Anyone that has spent a whole day giving into their urges & seeking convenience, as well as expediency has felt like absolute garbage by the end of the day. However, by delaying that feeling of gratification you're actually able to attain it. I'll give you a couple examples if you lay around eating junk food all day long by the end of the day you're just laying there mindlessly shoving cheese doodles in your mouth that no longer even taste good, & your feeling tired, even though you did nothing you're feeling tired, practically nauseous & disgusted with yourself.

Happiness is a funny concept. Are we happy when we get things? Most people expect that the answer to that question is yes, however the reality is that this rarely leads to long term happiness. Here are 3 things that actually do help to increase your happiness: 1. Spend your money on experiences 2. Plan with Abandon 3. Delay gratification S.3.E.11 Have a question? Question - Are you the type of person that's able to avoid a tasty treat when you're on a diet or do you cave right in? Are you able you push yourself to go to the gym consistently? Are you able to put off that impulse buy? Do you ever wonder why you or your friends have so much trouble sticking with certain goals? It mainly boils down to a lack of willpower.. That's what today's video is all about... Willpower - What is it, why it's important, how to strengthen it, and how to use it to your advantage. So let's dive right in... Willpower is basically your ability to resist short-term temptations and delay gratification in order to meet long-term goals. Or, more simply stated – it's self control, self-discipline, etc.. Every day, you make decisions to resist impulses in order to be healthier and happier and to meet your goals. Whether it's resisting chocolate, resisting to buy that new outfit, or pushing yourself to go to the gym, you are constantly using your willpower. Studies show that willpower is correlated with positive life outcomes such as better grades, higher self-esteem, lower substance abuse rates, greater financial security and improved physical and mental health. Let's sum it up: Willpower correlates with positive life outcomes such as better grades, higher self-esteem, lower substance abuse rates, greater financial security and improved physical and mental health. Willpower plays a key role in attaining our goals. Willpower is like a battery, so use it wisely – don't waste it on frivolous things. Use your willpower to install habits you want to form. Start small – One habit at a time Think of willpower like a muscle that can be exercised and strengthened. Remove temptations and triggers from your life Have a plan for those times that triggers/temptations do arise Pursue goals that have a deep meaning to you Make your impulses reward/punishment based Eat healthy and exercise. Today, I want to share a personal story (and challenge) that I am facing right now, in my dividend growth investing journey. In one's journey to build a world-class dividend stock portfolio, there are sacrifices that must be made along the way. Gratification must be delayed. Learn what delayed gratification is all about, and how delaying certain expenses can make all the difference in acquiring a large snowball of dividend income. Today's video discusses: * A personal expense that just came up in my life, and how I'm delaying (and saving up for) the expense (despite my gut reaction to "just pay for it"). * How I look at these types of expenses, despite media conditioning, as tests. They only make me a stronger investor. * Learn how treating one's house like a business (from a budgeting standpoint) can really help when planning for major expenses. If one's CapEx bucket doesn't have enough money, it's not time to dig into reserves (in my opinion). * Dividend growth investing requires discipline. In fact, discipline may be the number one attribute of a highly successful dividend growth investor. * Learn why material objects don't matter too much, since they just don't last (when looking out hundreds of years). What does last? A world class stock portfolio that can be passed on for generations, investments in kids/family, investments in charity (and doing good in general), and spirituality. Today's video is one about perspective. It's a high level video that gets at the core of being a dividend stock investor. 24th Australian Orthodontic Congress (AOC) In March, 2014 - Mark presented two sessions to Australian and international orthodontists, office managers, nurses, hygienists and receptionists. The first was a session bursting with real understandings and practical tips for dealing with patients who are often difficult to deal with. In the second, Mark raised a series of particularly useful strategies, couched in a positive psychology, to help kids find appealing ways to invest in their own treatment. Kids are far more likely to get on board when they realise they can make choices that advantage them. This is video 2 of 2. Sunday 30th March, 2.45pm (duration 45 minutes) Topic; Motivating people, or complying with treatment In a perfect world, every child or teen that came your way would do what you wanted in the spirit you desired. They'd appreciate your skill and genial character. They'd be grateful for having such specialised treatment paid for by a parent. You would be held in such revere that patients would gladly wear a twin block appliance as a fashion statement simply because you said so. In a less perfect world, just a few years ago, an orthodontist could have demand compliance from a young patient with a few well-chosen tell-offs, and got it! And, if it wasn't fast and forthcoming they'd ask a parent to deliver the extra measures to achieve it. What used to work to gain a young patient's cooperation and respect doesn't work nearly as well today. Oh yes, the world has changed! The truth is that the world and your patients are not perfect. Most need a little external motivation to help them along the way. Others need bucket loads of encouragement and cajoling to follow your treatment plan because they can't yet delay their desire for instant gratification. Quite a few need convincing that the treatment really is in their best interest, even though you feel pressured by a small window of time to complete treatment. Some of your patients are locked into emotional and oppositional battles with parents, and unless you spot this deadlock early and have a plan, you will fast become a casualty. In this session Mark will raise a series of useful, everyday strategies couched in a positive psychology approach - sound ideas to help kids find appealing short-term methods to invest in their own treatment. Kids are far more likely to get on board when they realise they can make choices that advantage them. What's the alternative? You know the answer - most of you have discovered from bitter experience that when a young patient remains anti-treatment they'll be a headache from start to finish. Mark Le Messurier - counsellor and mentor to children and teens. He is also a parent coach. Mark is the author of the best seller, PARENTING TOUGH KIDS and RAISING BEAUT KIDS: Recipes for parents on when to say "yes" and how to say "no" http://marklemessurier.com.au

Many modern psychologists, educators and parents now believe it's more important for success in life than good grades at school or an outstanding intelligence. At a Stanford experiment in the late 1960s psychologist Walter Mischel put kids in front of one tasty marshmallow. The 4 year old children were then promised another one if they had enough willpower not eat the one in front of them. Then they were left alone for 15 minutes. Some kids hid below the table. Those who were able to delay their gratification, got a second treat and many years later became more accomplished adults. They were more healthy, had higher test scores at school and were socially more competent. Professor Mischel and the marshmallow test became famous. Angela Duckwort, a popular psychologists, later invented the so-called Grit-Scale, a questionnaire to predict success. One question: Do I finish what I began? She then interviewed gifted business woman, accomplished scientists and other successful people. She found out that self-control, passion, and perseverance were better indicators for success than a high IQ score or fine genes. Let's examine the reasons behind this. Passion leads us to pursue careers that we love. Once we love something, we work hard to succeed and as a result can reach excellence Self-control allows us to wait even if something looks very attractive. This is important because one day, a better option might present itself. And perseverance means we keep fighting despite obstacles. It’s essential to complete projects that then grow our self-confidence through social recognition. The most gifted minds can't even start, if they lack passion and inspiration. One way to develop grit is to realize that we can eliminate our weaknesses with practice. We can learn a new thing by practicing long enough to see actual progress. But we can also study the lives of our role models. Then we understand that football stars train every day and receive constant feedback from professional coaches to develop specific skills. Once we internalize that we can improve our skills, we might realize that we can also practice willpower. For example, to change to a vegetarian diet is hard. But if you start small and try to cut out beef every Sunday, you might soon realize that you can also skip chicken during the week. And when that happens, you experience that you can grow will-power like any other muscle in your body. Then anything is possible, even to become a vegetarian When we experience that our brain is like any other muscle that grows with training, then willpower and self-control are just a matter of practice. And once we practice something long enough, it can become a habit or even our passion. Some 2,000 years ago Aristotle supposedly wrote: "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit." Maybe he was right. What do you think about Grit?

Learn the TOP 10 PSYCHOLOGICAL TRICKS that will help you QUIT SMOKING FOREVER. Understand how to give up CIGARETTE ADDICTION in a FAST and HEALTHY MANNER. You will never smoke again after watching this! 1. MAKE A COMMITMENT Write down why you want to quit. Give yourself reasons and motivation. Set a date that you will give it up forever. Tell your friends and family about the step you're going to take. Use social media and get the word out. Hype it up a lot on your own, so that by the time the day comes, you will feel compelled to give it a shot and change. 2. IF YOU ARE ALREADY ADDICTED TO NICOTINE, GIVE IT UP SLOWLY Expect some withdrawal symptoms. Remember that you are cleansing your body and this it’s reaction to change. Nicotine withdrawal will pass, so be patient and stay strong. Try not to give in and sneak a smoke because you'll just have to deal with the withdrawal longer. Some people find it hard to quit all at once, but you know yourself best, so see how it works out for you. 3. UNLEARN SMOKING All habits once learned can be unlearned with the right approach including smoking. Take symbolic steps, like throwing away all the cigarettes including ashtrays, lighters, and, yes, even that pack you stashed away for emergencies. Observe the triggers. Break the link, change the location and find a substitute to cigarettes. Nicotine Patches, Carrot or celery sticks, sugar-free gum, mints, toothpicks, or lollipops can do wonders for your oral fixation. 4. DELAY GRATIFICATION You have to make wise choices when your health is at risk. Be sure to not let temptation get the better of you. You want to push away the addictive nicotine craving to ultimately avoid smoking. You do this by making your goal of getting healthy and reinforcing your motivation to quit by delaying the short term fix of a cigarette. So find yourself a better way to feel good and deal with stress. This includes exercising, playing a sport, finding a hobby, meditating, listening to music and so on. Watch this for more : https://youtu.be/6c3a1DNCb1k 5. FIND YOUR SUPPORT TEAM Find a new set of people to hang out with if they are maintaining your smoking behaviour. Only 10% manage to give it up completely on their own by going cold turkey. So garner as much support as possible from family and friends! 6. MAKE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS Start making statements that motivate change like “I’m getting better” or “I feel healthy” and “ I am quitting smoking this time “. Repeat these out loud to yourself everyday for a few minutes to change the way you view yourself and your motivation to quit smoking. Positive affirmations will strengthen your mind and can be applied to any aspect of your life you want to improve upon. Watch the full tutorial : https://youtu.be/9NCTugxqOkY 7. RELOOK THE CONSEQUENCES Consider the ill effects it can have on your health. Quitting smoking can benefit all aspects of your life. Be sure to remind yourself of the ill effects of smoking and that will motivate you to stick to your recovery plan. 8. STAY BUSY Many people find it's best to quit on a Monday, when they have school or work to keep them busy and are less likely to crave cigarettes. Stay physically active. Make sure you have your mind occupied and stimulated by something healthy that will not let your mind wander towards thoughts of smoking. And don’t worry even if they come around, because the hard work you are putting in will pay off. You just need to stay strong! 9. IF YOU SLIP UP, DON'T GIVE UP Major changes sometimes have false starts. If you're like many people, you may quit successfully for weeks or even months and then suddenly have a craving that's so strong you feel like you have to give in. Here are three ways to get back on track: (a)Think about your slip as one mistake. (b)Talk to yourself. (c)Remind yourself why you quit and how well you've done 10. REWARD YOURSELF Quitting smoking isn't easy. Give yourself a well-deserved reward! Set aside the money you usually spend on cigarettes. When you've stayed tobacco-free for a week, 2 weeks, or a month, give yourself a treat like a gift card, a short vacation, movie, or some clothes. Celebrate every smoke-free year. You've earned every second you have now added to your life. Keeping in mind that even though your business is a separate entity, at the end of the day the profits are going to flow down to your tax return. If you 'blow' your money on women (or men? - for the ladies watching...LOL, I am sure there are a ton of them...), gambling, clothes, alcohol, cars you can't afford, a house you can't afford, vacations you shouldn't take, etc., etc., etc., I am confident in most cases this will put you out of business sooner or later. Do you have money saved up to pay your living expenses and to buy food if you were for whatever reason not able to produce any income for a period of time? We run equipment and drive a lot. Accidents can happen...are you in a place to be able to support yourself? I know people don't like talking about this stuff and people don't like others knowing what they make, and if they do say what they make they probably exaggerate it. But this is real life and things to consider. Always trying to keep you thinking. It is SOOOO important to continue learning if you are going to be successful in life and business. Raleigh Business Opportunity owner speak from the heart: Starting your own business opportunity from home can be fun but at the same time greatly challenging. Home businesses, particularly internet based, give you the freedom and flexibility to work when you want, how you want. The saying "going to work in your pajamas" has never been truer than the growing population of people who work with an online business opportunity from home. Sadly, it is a well documented fact that over one third of start up businesses fail in the first three years. So if you are looking for a business opportunity from home that you can fit into your busy life, what is the secret of making it a success? Here are 3 steps that you just might help you to avoid the pitfalls of a failed business opportunity from home. 1) Be realistic in your expectations This is the first golden rule of any start up business opportunity from home. After you have decided the right business model for you, then set yourself a game plan and be realistic in what you want to achieve in the first 3-6 months. Having a game plan will keep you focused on what you want out of your business opportunity from home and will keep you on track. Any business opportunity from home that offers you a million dollar income without doing hardly any work is best avoided like the plague. It is prudent to keep re-evaluating your business plan. If you gave yourself 6 months to reach a particular target and did not hit that target, then you need to look at the reasons why. Likewise if you reached your target easily, then reset a higher target for yourself. Be realistic about your business opportunity from home and know where you are going with it. 2) Self Discipline When you work for someone else you are disciplined into turning up every morning, doing your eight or so hours and leaving. However when you work for yourself, especially a network marketing or internet based business, it becomes very easy to be distracted. For example when working on the internet it becomes very easy to "just check your Facebook page" or "send a quick email off to a friend" or "just visit a chat room that you are a member of." This is all well and good but before you know it, a couple of hours have gone by and you haven't done any work on your business opportunity from home. After all, would an employer put up with this! In order for you to succeed, you really need to treat your business opportunity from home just like any other form of business from the word go. Commit to doing so many hours a day and set aside this time to work purely on your business. If you are fortunate enough to have a room as an office then great, but if you have your work station in a bedroom then remove distractions like televisions and CD players and try to set up a small area where you can work undisturbed. Avoid the "the next shiny object" - don't get suckered in to the next best thing that will supposedly take your business opportunity from home stratospheric. Stick with tried and tested methods and above all be patient! 3) Coming to terms with the delayed gratification factor When you work for an employer or a company, you go to work for eight or so hours, 5 days a week. At the end of the week or month, you will get paid for what hours you have worked right! Well, one of the pitfalls that people fall into when having their own home based or network marketing business opportunity from home is that they still have this "job mentality" They expect quick results and quick returns. When the returns don't materialize people give up. Whereas in fact they should be thinking in terms of something called delayed gratification. What this means is that you need to put an awful lot of work in to your own business opportunity from home before it will start to pay you back. This is delayed gratification. When it comes, it will keep on coming and all you have to do is to just keep the wheels in motion. However long this takes is entirely dependent upon how much you work your business opportunity from home in the early stages. It is akin to pumping water out of a deep well. You see, at first you have to pump like crazy, but once the water starts flowing, all you have do is to occasionally prime it. There is nothing more rewarding than being your own boss. If you can avoid the pitfalls of many a failed business, and make it through the important early stages then starting a business opportunity from home may well be the best thing you ever did! ⬇⬇⬇ MORE INFO IN THE DESCRIPTION ⬇⬇⬇ 💌 Smash that Like Button and Subscribe - Thank You for Watching! 💌 Key Takeaways: How Important is Staying in Shape When it Comes to Your Lawn Care Business? To me, it is vital to my success in life and business. I believe everyone should sweat every day and not just because it is hot outside or you went to the sauna! Like, sweat because you were doing physical labor and got your heart rate and body temperature up causing you to sweat! It is living life! I know I am extreme and don't even necessarily think what I do is ideal, at least not for everyone. Everyone's body is different and requires different amounts of physical activity to maintain health. So goes for what you need to eat to remain healthy or what types of workouts you do, and the amount of weight, and reps, and cardio, and so on. I know for a fact that being in shape when I was in the field on a daily basis with my employees allowed me to work them under the table with ease. This really set the tone for expectations and no one could really say anything to me as they saw me out there outworking them each and every day. I would love to hear how important you feel working out is and what your schedule is for hitting the gym. Side note: As I stated in the video, just being out in the field and doing the work is sometimes a pretty intensive workout. I did miss a lot of days in the gym because I worked sun up to sun down to build my business until I learned to be the owner instead of the foreman (and office person, etc., etc.). Are you trying to get other people to use agile or lean software development methods, but they can't seem to break out of the mindset they're stuck in? Today I'd like to offer some strategies to overcome attachment. You can also listen on Soundcloud 🎧: https://goo.gl/G7zr5g Building What Customers Want Takes Failure And Learning: Traditional management styles want predictability. They want to know how long things will take, and how much they will cost. Unfortunately companies that want to be innovative can't measure performance this way to deliver truly disruptive and valuable ideas to their customers. Establishing the Mindset for Failure and Learning: Assume for a moment you've already convinced people of the benefits of lean software development methods like DevOps, Continuous Delivery, or any of the other concepts I talk about frequently on my YouTube channel and podcast. Though others may understand the mechanics of these approaches, it can be frustrating at first to get people to be comfortable with learning, because this often requires failure. The Uncertainty of Innovation Can Cause Anxiety: If we're going to let the customer decide what's in our product, and release multiple times per day - we're going to have an increased set of feedback. Also subject matter experts like Product Managers can find out their ideas aren't as valuable as they'd hoped when trying new things. Overcoming Attachment to Enable Learning: If you celebrate Christmas or your Birthday, you've probably experienced being attached to a gift or outcome you wanted as a child. We need to overcome these feelings of attachment in companies that are attempting to use lean and agile methods for developing software. We Must Be Comfortable With Uncertainty to Take Risks: The more comfortable we can be with trying things and not being able to guarantee that the outcome is something that we want, the more we can take risks. This is exactly the mindset needed to be more innovative with software development. Strategies for Practicing Detachment: If we know people need to be more comfortable with uncertainty, and they need to be less attached to outcomes - what are some strategies we can use to help cope with this? Thinking About the Possibility of Other Outcomes Most people in corporate American don't want to do this. Typical work structures are all about certainty and planning for outcomes we expect. Instead, thinking about the possibility that what we've planned might not work out ahead of time primes us for a healty mindset for taking risk. Beware of Catastrophizing Once you begin to allow yourself to think about the possibility of uncertain outcomes, it's tempting to think of the worst case scenario. This is known as catastrophizing, and creates anxity by focusing your thoughts on negative situations that haven't even happened yet! Overcoming Resentment to Past Failures If we hold on to negative feelings about what may have happened in the past, we won't have the open mind necessary to try new things. Resentment is another form of attachment. Challenging Limiting Beliefs If someone told you something about yourself as a child, or perhaps a co-worker made a statement about your skills - you may be walking around carrying an innacurate picture of yourself. Challenge your thoughts about what is really true in your perspective so you don't stay attached to lies about yourself. Separating Our Identity From Outcomes In most companies if someone makes a "bad" decision, they are held accountable. What this can do though is cause us to place our self-worth in our decisions and their outcomes. To have the courage to innovate, we need to separate these two. Practicing Delayed Gratification Waiting longer to get something you want might sound silly, but you'd be surprised how many people are still attached to immediacy and this often is the reason why others don't support you. Practice this yourself, and with your team, to relax your expectations so you can take risks. Permitting Others to be Frustrated with Uncertainty It's natural that when trying to do something new, such as to not be as attached to outcomes, you and others will make mistakes. It's crucial that everyone be willing to forgive each other when unpredictable negative outcomes occur. Dear Heroines and Heroes, It’s Week 4 of Wise Wednesdays! Procrastination: Why do today what I can do tomorrow?... Good question. Watch the video or read on... We all procrastinate, but 20% of us are chronic procrastinators and may experience the negative consequences of procrastination on a regular basis. Of course, things don’t always have to get done through a linear process but if you’re not progressing at all, you’re procrastinating. Scientists have tried to understand why we procrastinate and have found that it may allow us to put off annoying tasks and reduce stress in the short term - a form of preference for immediate gratification over delayed gratification (the bane of public health!) However, they have also found that our life suffers as as result of procrastination and, ultimately, we experience greater stress overall because of the consequences (including falling short of our abilities and not getting important things done, not to mention the impact on our relationships). The really worrying element is that procrastination is associated with guilt, shame and anxiety – but why do we tolerate such negative feelings? Piercing the procrastination bubble: 3 powerful questions It turns out procrastination is not a time management issue. It’s a self-management issue - meaning it’s linked to our ability to control our emotional state. Remember what the 3 key elements of this are? Body :: focus :: language Change what you are doing with one of these and you will regain control of your state. You’ll be able to close the gap between your intention and action and get out of procrastination. Yeehaa! So let’s look at these three elements in turn (Body :: focus :: language) and how they can help to pierce the bubble of procrastination and get us back into the flow of things. If you find yourself held in the grip of procrastination: take a deep breath in and ask yourself these three questions: Question 1: Do I need more information? (language element) Find out if you need to know anything more about the task you need to do and are procrastinating over. Arm yourself with helpful tips and tricks that are fun and will help you move along. You may even find out that you need more time to do the task and discover that you need to chunk it into smaller tasks. This will take internal pressure off you and get you back into a confident gear. Question 2: Do I need more inspiration? (focus element) To get things done that are perceived as tough, you need a positive motivation i.e. something positive to focus on that will pull you forward. So reframe the meaning of the task (why are you really doing this task and what will it give you - more time/peace of mind/recognition/wealth/love?) Set an imaginary finish line in your imagination: when and where will you finish task and how will you feel when it is done? Run the movie in your mind to Eye of the Tiger or Bach's Hallelujah - whatever revs you up and makes you laugh. And plan a special treat for yourself once it's done... Do I need more perspiration? (body element) Get your body moving. Go and do some exercise or something fun. Put your favourite music on and have a good dance off until you’ve completely changed state. Once you’re done, pay attention to the first thing that comes to mind and go and do it no matter what it is. Welcome back to the flow! And if you need a hand, try this two minute procrastination busting meditation. I hope this helps. Please, feel free to invite friends who might like to join the group. A Facebook page will be coming soon, so you can meet each other (64 people now). If you have any comments or queries email me or comment on the youtube channel! Until next week. Narcissism is the pursuit of gratification from vanity or egotistic admiration of one's own attributes. The term originated from the Greek mythology, where the young Narcissus fell in love with his own image reflected in a pool of water. Narcissism is a concept in psychoanalytic theory, introduced in Sigmund Freud's On Narcissism. The American Psychiatric Association has the classification narcissistic personality disorder in its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Narcissism is also considered a social or cultural problem. It is a factor in trait theory used in some self-report inventories of personality such as the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory. It is one of the three dark triadic personality traits (the others being psychopathy and Machiavellianism). Except in the sense of primary narcissism or healthy self-love, narcissism is usually considered a problem in a person or group's relationships with self and others. Narcissism is not the same as egocentrism. The lead villain in the 2014 movie No Good Deed is described several times as a "malignant narcissist." The gang from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is narcissistic, but Glenn Howerton's character Dennis Reynolds displays the most extreme narcissistic traits with more sociopathic tendencies. The character Johnny Truant from House of Leaves is a classic example of a Fanatic Narcissist. Jay Gatsby, the titular character of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel The Great Gatsby, "an archetype of self-made American men seeking to join high society," has been described as a "pathological narcissist" for whom the "ego-ideal" has become "inflated and destructive" and whose "grandiose lies, poor sense of reality, sense of entitlement, and exploitive treatment of others" conspire toward his own demise. In the film To Die For, Nicole Kidman's character wants to appear on television at all costs, even if this involves murdering her husband. A psychiatric assessment of her character noted that she "was seen as a prototypical narcissistic person by the raters: on average, she satisfied 8 of 9 criteria for narcissistic personality disorder... had she been evaluated for personality disorders, she would receive a diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissism

http://autoinsurancerd.blogspot.com/ Dental insurance Covers in your issues Dental remedies can placed a extreme dent on your budget, and it's however becoming which you take benefit of each possibility to finance it via coverage insurance. The trouble with this feature is its barriers; cosmetic dental strategies are hardly ever blanketed through coverage, if at all, and you are regularly required to pay for the remedy and professional fees from your own pocket. The subsequent time you recollect enamel whitening or porcelain veneers, think of the price first, if you're able and inclined to dedicate. A few treatments also include a tremendous upkeep. Dental implant placements require numerous sessions, and the cost of the technique is located on each teeth, depending on the position region. Make sure your dental treatments are included as a ways as your plan will accommodate, and your dentist ought to constantly be conscious that you pick subsidized treatment. The value is always determined during the consultations, and it facilitates in case you're up the front along with your dentist. On this manner, all price-efficient options are taken into consideration, and you can pick out which one you are willing to accept. You may spare yourself the hassle of purchasing the remedy after the truth. Delayed gratification is always the higher choice. A few treatments require restoration periods, and also you do not want to feature the prices of the procedure to the workdays you'll lose getting better from it. The charges additionally vary between states, and you are higher off familiar with the common expenses of techniques. Finding out estimates is straightforward sufficient, simply test out your nearby dental association's internet site, enter your zip code, and affirm the going rates. Your dentist can not contest this, but you should not accept averages simply the same. Negotiate the charge till you're comfy or satisfied, dentists will accommodate requests via decreasing the expert and laboratory prices. Your bargaining abilities can pay off, inside the hundreds or thousand bucks. An alternative to dental coverage you could do not forget is a reduction plan, and it additionally varies between states. Those depend on the participating dentists and clinics and your location, but you can avail as tons as 60% cut price on certain dental tactics, a extensive lop-off of your remedy's cost. Dental insurance is usually voided in discounted remedies, but bear in mind yourself lucky in case your clinic contains compounded savings. In case you're genuinely determined about reasonably-priced savings, then you may join up for remedies at dental colleges instead. College students welcome volunteer to take part of their practicums, and the treatments are genuinely free. The most effective tradeoff: students haven't begun to earn their license, so there's a threat your treatment may want to turn for the worse.

In this video, you'll learn a simple mindset change to helped me with eating to get shredded and to diet down to 8% body fat. ►If you found this video helpful hit Subscribe to support the channel ► https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=shockingfit If you're looking for a "How-To" video with a step by step system on getting shredded and ripped check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgFYA_v59NU Online Coaching now available: http://shockingfit.com/coaching/ Getting shredded (down to 8% body fat) is a HUGE goal, and it presents us with completely new challenges compared to just getting in a healthy body-weight range. One of those challenges is dealing with food cravings. Food cravings are a normal part of being in a calorie deficit, and we expect to have some. But the thing is when you're going down to those very low body fat levels these cravings increase exponentially. The amount of food we consume on a day-to-day basis is declining, and we start falling into that scarcity mindset. Suddenly food has so much value because we can't have it. One thing that amplifies these cravings and the scarcity mindset is thinking of getting shredded and ripped from an "exclusion" diet mentality. Meaning, that we're always thinking about which foods we can't eat and what's off limit. And if you do some research you'll see how most diet "guru's" are promoting food elimination and exclusion. It's all about eliminating things from the diet that are bad for us. The biggest problem with exclusion mindset is that it focuses our mind of what we can't have instead of focusing our mind on what we should have. Instead of thinking "I can't eat pizza." which leads to "Now I suddenly want to eat pizza." why aren't we thinking "What's the best possible source of nutrition to deal with my cravings for carbohydrate or sugar or salt?" What's the best possible food? How can I treat my body the way it deserves with proper nutrition instead of always thinking what to avoid. Why not go for the best possible option because you want to take care of yourself? Instead of always thinking of deprivation. If you crave sugar, go for some healthy fruits because it's the best option for you. If you want salty food, instead of crackers, there's a healthier option. How about baked potatoes with Himalayan pink salt with some coconut oil? When we start focusing on "inclusion" and maximizing nutrient density all these options appear. We're no longer thinking from the standpoint of scarcity. And our food decisions aren't based on fear or deprivation but now it's about making the best decision. This mindset helped me tremendously with getting shredded as I'm sure it will help you as well. After all, we want the best for ourselves. We want to take care of ourselves, and that's why we invest so much time in health and fitness in the first place. Discover the methods and techniques I used that allowed me to become financially free and balanced in the material wealth component of a balanced life. Read The Full Article: http://davidjoragui.com/material-wealth/became-financially-free/ Money No Longer Causes Me Stress It’s been quite a long time coming, but I think I can safely say I have removed money as a stress-factor from my life. I’m just happy that I’ve been able to remove money from being a burden between me and my real goals, especially the main one of achieving a balanced life. Achieving balance in material wealth For an individual to achieve balance in the material wealth component of their life, they need to be able to: Effectively grow your personal assets through efficient budgeting skills, whilst mastering the art of delayed gratification. Develop positive beliefs about money that will allow you to use and distribute wealth in ways which will benefit others. I’m pleased to announce that I have balanced the material wealth component of my life, so today I want to share the methods and techniques I used which has allowed me to accomplish this. Stopped spending compulsively This was key to my success in becoming financially free. Many people don’t have a foothold on their finances because they spend money on needless items which serves no purpose other than to make them ‘feel’ like their money is of real value. I stopped buying new clothes, games and other nonsense simply because I didn’t need them. I began adopting a minimalist lifestyle, where I would only buy the things I needed, rather than the things I wanted. This led to me valuing the little I had, saving the rest for a rainy day – rather than to just blow it on a purchase that I’ll later regret. Focused on deriving pleasure from other activities and goals Focusing on the pursuit of goals and undergoing some real self-development has given me some degree of introspection with regards to my strengths and weaknesses in my everyday life. Recently, I registered an account on TribeSports – the social media website for exercise freaks, and I’ve been in love with the community ever since. The mere thought of pushing my body to its limits everyday, provides me with such an irreplaceable thrill, unrivaled by any other, all in order to build a real body that matters. From the way I handle my relationships to my latent ability to exude boundless amounts of confidence and self-esteem at will. I have been able to focus on what I find important in life, and how I can use these existing or newly found beliefs and values in order to become the best person I can possible be. Whilst doing this, I forget that money even exists in this world – especially when I’m spending time with people who I regard as true friends. Developing habits and building skills It was through saving and creating a budget plan where I learnt how to effectively delay gratification. I’ve always been adept at saving, however I still end up spending the majority of it when I come across a good offer. Like learning anything new, one has to repeat an action or activity multiple times before it becomes focal point of their mental make-up. Learning how to save money was no different. Regularly putting money away without touching it, helped me look forward towards purchasing a better product/item at a later date. After all, the goal of delayed gratification is about getting you to experience something to a greater effect at a later time. However, because I love challenging myself, I decided to set myself a savings goal instead – without setting up any kind of reward for myself, regardless of how well I did. My journey towards the savings goal of $1500 in 12 months was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances. In hindsight, I realise that achieving the goal wasn’t actually the main reason why I set it in the first place. I simply wanted to build and strengthen the skill of delayed gratification and that much I did. Here is an experience that has probably happened to several people before: You are shopping for a high ticket item – it could be furniture, a hot tub, electronics - it’s March Madness Selection Sunday and you could have the TV and surround setup in time for the tournament. And then you see the price: Let’s say it was $3,000. And you think, "Boy I can’t afford that?" Hold that thought, you just said the keywords: “I can’t afford that”. Your shopping experience should be over. Then the salesperson says, “We can get you this item and set it up in your home next week and the monthly payment is only $125/month.” Now you’re excited. You are picturing the item in your home and your brain says to you, "I can afford $125/month." You’re getting sucked in and suddenly you’re rationalizing the purchase. Wait a minute. How did we go from, “I can’t afford this” to “Where do I sign?" Clear your mind and now sit down and read the terms of the $125/mth. 1. $125/mth. – and the price was $3,000. 2. So what is the interest rate? 19% - wow, that’s pretty high. 3. How long will you be paying the $125/mth? A little over 30 months. So the bottom line is how much is this $3,000 purchase going to cost me? $3,800 That’s $800 in interest. Including interest – the purchase ended up costing you 27% MORE. So, if you can’t afford $3,000, how are you going to afford $3,800? You can see how Immediate Gratification can get people in trouble financially. Immediate gratification has a compounding affect as well. It means that not only will you pay more, you will have less money to save for longer term goals as well. Have you ever had an emotional freak out over a breakup with a partner, fight with a family member, huge financial pressures or simply feel like everything is crashing down on you? This can cause you to feel stuck in your emotional turmoil and leave you paralysed from not being able to control your situation. After much trial and error, I have discovered 8 powerful methods to move you quickly from your negative state and get you attracting solutions and better outcomes. Most of the methods I learned are what some men do naturally. Men seem to be more stable in difficult times as they don’t invest as much emotion in them as women. I read an insightful quote from a blogger named Patrick Allen “ ...accepting failure, being okay with not getting what you want right now, is one of the best, best success strategies, but it takes mental toughness…” and “Learn to delay gratification and let things go” It’s human nature to try and fix things or take control over people and situations to make you feel safe and secure. It feels uncomfortable to allow things to be and not feel panic. It may be hard, but resist reacting to situations until the time is right for you to respond. I have come to realise that all my painful experiences have pushed me to be more in every way. I now choose to never waste an opportunity to grow as my pain tells me I need to change. So now, I cut to the chase and just get working on myself. It has taken me years to even realise there are shortcuts to overcoming emotional stress. It is all about working on yourself instead of what is happening around you.

In this video, I talk about a the very common theme of procrastination. I’ll review: 1. Three common beliefs that cause us to procrastinate. 2. Three hacks to overcome those beliefs. 3. The “One Minute” rule I follow to help me beat procrastination everyday. I’m a master procrastinator. I have spent a lifetime figuring out ways to either delay or avoid tasks I don’t feel like doing. I like to think of procrastination as “malfunction” in one of the five steps of executive function. Here’s what I mean. For practical purposes, executive function -- or our ability to get stuff done -- can be broken down into this five step process: 1. Believing you can do something 2. Planning the steps to do it 3. Organizing materials to do it 4. Transitioning into doing it 5. Self-regulation and sustaining focus until you finish it When we procrastinate, we delay or avoid one or more of these steps in the process anywhere along the way. 3 Beliefs that cause us to procrastinate: 1. Temporal (time) discounting: Preferring the small but immediate gratification of doing something else, versus the delayed (and bigger) reward of doing the work now. What we may say: “I’ve still got three weeks to finish it.” 2. Irrational avoidance: Deciding something isn’t worth doing unless we can do it perfectly. What we are really doing is allowing our fear to stop us from pursuing something important. What we may say: “I’m afraid to make a mistake.” Or “What if I fail/embarrass myself/get criticized for my mistakes?” 3. The need to finish it: Sometimes we don’t start something because we are overwhelmed by the idea of finishing it. Think about cleaning out a cluttered attic and you’ll get the idea. What we may say: “I’ll never finish it, so I’m not even going to try.” Or “It’s going to take me way too long, I don’t have time for that.” 3 Procrastination Hacks 1. Give yourself permission to fail. 2. Ask yourself two questions, “What do I need to get started?” and “What’s the hardest part?” 3. Separate the prep work from the task. 1 Minute Rule Ask yourself, “Can I do this in one minute or less?” If the answer is, YES, then DO IT RIGHT NOW. If the answer is NO, then PLAN it right now and stick it in your calendar. Give Yourself Permission to Procrastinate! How do you feel? What do you need? Check in with yourself before starting a task that will take a lot of emotional, social, mental or physical energy. If you aren’t feeling your best, and that you won’t be very productive, then meet your needs first, and come back around to that task when you have recharged. This is about progress, not perfection. Beating procrastination is a process in making small shifts everyday to stay aware of your habits and your feelings. With love and gratitude, Yulia
