DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a doctor or a psychologist and I am not educated in this field. Everything I talk about in this video is strictly from my own experience and may not work for everyone. These activities are not intended to be long term solutions for anxiety or depression - just a few things that help me when I'm feeling down. Hey guys! These are just a few activities that help me when I'm having a pretty rough day. If you don't want to watch the whole video, here is basically what I talk about. Writing lists of: 1. My fears (and how I might confront them) 2. My goals (and/or desires, aspirations, plans, etc.) 3. Things that comfort me 4. My accomplishments (big or small) 5. Daily "to do" lists - try to get a few things done every day! 6. Imagine yourself in the future - where do you want to be? what kind of job do you wish to have? where do you want to live? who do you want to be friends with? what do you want to be doing on a daily basis? Try to visualize yourself living without depression and anxiety! If you tried these activities and they helped you please let me know in the comments below! If you're feeling extra brave, leave some of your lists for other people to read and comment on - I bet we all share some of the same fears and goals in our lives. We are Team 7 and we are currently completing our social action project for NCS! For this project, we are planning to plant trees at several local schools with the aim to decrease carbon dioxide levels and help with the issue of Global Warming. Beside each tree, we are going to put up a plaque dedicated to different types of mental health problems. This is to raise awareness of the importance of mental health issues as we believe it isn't being recognized enough in our society. We have chosen to do this in schools because we believe it is important for children to recognize and understand how people's mental health can be affected. Also, these problems can appear at any stage in a person's life so it is important for children and teenagers to know that there are treatments and it's not the end of the world if one of these issues arises. However, we don't want to limit our project for only young people. We want everyone to see these plaques, whether you have been through it, going through it, or know of anyone who has. And so, we are hoping to raise awareness to everyone in the community by, perhaps, planting trees in other areas of our community. By planting the trees in schools we are able to make young people aware of mental health disorders along with the parents of the children and staff working at the school. During our Social Action Project, we would like to achieve the goal of making as many people in our community aware of mental health issues and plant at least one tree in as many schools as we can across Exeter. We would like for this project to be sustainable and continue long after we are finished with NCS. Our long term goal is for people of our community to become more comfortable with discussing these issues as a result of our project. Bullying/cyber bullying can have major impacts on people's lives but if people are aware of mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, it could lead to a more understanding internet community to sensitive issues. --------------------------------------------------------- Our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/Trees-For-Reasons-157254868161500/ ----------------------------------------------------------- Music used: Ether - Silent Partner: https://youtu.be/r6En29azNBA Music provided by Audio Library https://youtu.be/Ssvu2yncgWU

Mental Health First Aid takes the goal of physical first aid - to provide immediate care to an injury or illness - and applies it to mental health distress. While not everyone can provide long-term treatment to someone with a mental illness, everyone can intervene to help somebody who’s struggling with a mental illness out of crisis, and into care. “Any one can be the difference who might be experiencing some mental health distress and that’s what it’s all about, learning to be the difference for that person,” said Denise Elsbree, Mental Health First Aid Coordinator for Edward-Elmhurst Health. Mental Health First Aid teaches people how to recognize warning signs for mental illness or suicidal intent, and provides an action plan on how to respond. That includes: assessing the risk of suicide, listening nonjudgmentally, giving reassurance, and encouraging professional and self-help. “It changes people’s perceptions of mental illness, mental health, and it really empowers people to reach out to people and offer assistance,” said Elsbree. “That’s what we’re trying to do is to increase the community’s capacity to be helpful to each other.” “It’s opened my eyes about how much we need to be out in the society and be first responders for mental health concerns,” said Radhika Subramanian, a volunteer who was training for Sanjeevani, an organization which provides mental health support to people who need it. This class brings the total number of people Linden Oaks has trained in Mental Health First Aid up to over 10,000 since they started offering the program in 2011. 10,000 people prepared to make a difference in our community. “Are you a person who interacts with other people? Then you should take mental health first aid,” said Elsbree. A list of Mental Health First Aid training days can be found on Edward-Elmhurst Health’s behavioral health website. Naperville News 17’s Blane Erwin reports.

This video was recorded due to subscribers’ requests, in which they asked for an analysis on Kati Morton’s undercover therapist role, which she adopted for a video with Shane Dawson (“The World of Jake Paul” [part 5 in the series]). The question is: Was Kati Morton undercover role unethical or inappropriate. The video in which she was featured is popular and some are concerned the behavior exhibited was inconsistent with the values of mental health clinicians. This video’s only purpose is to analyze ethical and mental health-related concerns and not to make any determinations based on ethics, laws, or other standards. The evidence used for this analysis is essentially limited to the aforementioned video. The code of ethics used in this video is here: https://www.camft.org/images/PDFs/CodeOfEthics.pdf Here is a description of psychopathy, sociopathy, and antisocial personality disorder based on what we know from the research literature: Antisocial Personality Disorder is a disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). It's a Cluster B personality disorder, so it's in the same cluster as narcissistic, borderline, and histrionic personality disorders. Antisocial personality disorder affects about 3% of the population, but depending on what literature you look at, it may affect up to 80% of the population in correctional settings. We see the definition of antisocial personality is broken to a few different criteria: a tendency to violate social norms (committing actions that could be grounds for arrest), deceitfulness, impulsivity, irritability or aggression, a disregard for the safety of others, irresponsibility, and a lack of remorse. In order for somebody diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder they must be at least 18 years of age. Conduct disorder symptoms must have been present before the age of 15, so just as is the case with all personality disorders, there is no such thing as late onset antisocial personality disorder. The antisocial behavior cannot occur exclusively during the course of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Moving on to the construct of psychopathy, we see here that psychopathy is an area that's studied, it's not a mental disorder. Someone can't really be diagnosed as having psychopathy or not, in a technical sense. Psychopathy affects about 1% of the population. In forensic settings about 16 percent of males are affected and about 7 percent of females are affected. Psychopathy can be divided into two factors and each of those factors can be divided into two facets. Factor one alone is sometimes referred to as psychopathy. Factor 2 is sometimes referred to as sociopathy. With psychopathy we have two factors and a total of four facets. Factor one is interpersonal/affective and factor two is referred to as social deviance. With the interpersonal facet we see certain characteristics like superficial charm, grandiosity, pathological lying, and a tendency to be manipulative. With the affective facet, we see a lack of remorse and shallow effect, callousness, lack of empathy. and a failure to accept responsibility. Moving to factor two (sociopathy) we see need for stimulation, parasitic lifestyle, lack of realistic long-term goals, impulsivity, irresponsibility, poor behavioral controls, early behavioral problems, juvenile delinquency, a revocation of conditional release, and criminal versatility.

Following the assessment phase, a treatment plan with specific short-term and long-term goals is created and executed. Pre-order My New Book Today! ARE YOU OK? http://bit.ly/2s0mULy Today I talk about what a psychiatric ward looks like. I spent a few years working at one and wanted to share with you what it is like. Remember that even though they can be a bit scary and overwhelming, the important thing is that they keep us safe. Psychiatric hospitals, are also known as mental hospitals and psychiatric wards ("psych" wards) when they are a sub-unit of a regular hospital, are hospitals or wards specializing in the treatment of serious mental disorders, such as clinical depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. Psychiatric hospitals vary widely in their size and grading. Some hospitals may specialize only in short-term or outpatient therapy for low-risk patients. Others may specialize in the temporary or permanent care of residents who, as a result of a psychological disorder, require routine assistance, treatment, or a specialized and controlled environment. Patients are often admitted on a voluntary basis, but people whom psychiatrists believe may pose a significant danger to themselves or others may be subject to involuntary commitment. Modern psychiatric hospitals evolved from, and eventually replaced the older lunatic asylums. The treatment of inmates in early lunatic asylums was sometimes brutal and focused on containment and restraint. With successive waves of reform, and the introduction of effective evidence-based treatments, modern psychiatric hospitals provide a primary emphasis on treatment, and attempt where possible to help patients control their own lives in the outside world, with the use of a combination of psychiatric drugs and psychotherapy. A crisis stabilization unit is in effect an emergency room for psychiatry, frequently dealing with suicidal, violent, or otherwise critical individuals. Open units are psychiatric units that are not as secure as crisis stabilization units. Another type of psychiatric hospital is medium term, which provides care lasting several weeks. In the United Kingdom, both crisis admissions and medium term care is usually provided on acute admissions wards. Juvenile or adolescent wards are sections of psychiatric hospitals or psychiatric wards set aside for children and/or adolescents with mental illness. Long-term care facilities have the goal of treatment and rehabilitation back into society within a short time-frame (two or three years). Another institution for the mentally ill is a community-based halfway house. Case plans provide a structured approach that helps supervising officers and probationers/parolees negotiate daily activities and achieve central reentry objectives. Effective case plans are dynamic instruments that organize a parolee or probationer's behavioral expectations and are adapted according to his or her actions while on supervision. This free webinar will demonstrate how case plans can be used as a tool to structure interactions between officers and supervisees by providing supervisees with clear, direct, short-term goals that encourage accountability and and promote long-term behavioral change.

Living sober is difficult for someone who has been imprisoned by an addiction. People turn to substances because they are an easily gained coping mechanism; they are stress relievers in a world that forces stress and demands release. During rehab, you learn healthy coping mechanisms, but without a plan that reminds you to use these new stress relievers returning to substances is only a matter of time. The substance is what you know, but the plan after your Outpatient program shows you a better way. Health Tips In Urdu - Asthma Treatment - Dama Ka Yaqeeni Ilaj - treatment for asthma https://youtu.be/ZAqLmuRmm_g Hi Friends In this video i will share treatment for asthma completely. I hope you all like it and Don't forget to Subscribe my channel: https://goo.gl/Dl2spd Allergies are just one of the factors that can trigger asthma attacks. Not all people with asthma have allergies and there are many people who have allergies but do not have asthma. Some ongoing health problems can trigger asthma symptoms or make them worse. These include obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, acid reflux, stress and depression. Let your allergist know if you have one of these conditions so you can discuss the best approach to control both your health problem and your asthma symptoms. Colds and sinus infections can also worsen your asthma. Asthma is a long-term disease that has no cure. The goal of asthma treatment is to control the disease. Effective treatment of allergic asthma includes identifying and avoiding allergens that trigger symptoms, using drug therapies and developing an emergency action plan for severe attacks. Your allergist may also recommend that you monitor your asthma by using a peak flow meter. This small hand held device allows you to measure how much air you are able to push out through your lungs. If your airflow is low, your allergist may recommend changes to your treatment plan, such as additional behavioral or environmental changes or a different asthma medication. There's currently no cure for asthma, but treatment can help control the symptoms so you're able to live a normal, active life. For both adults and children, asthma can usually be controlled with medications taken by an inhaler (a device that delivers medicine to your lungs as you breathe in). If you or a loved one has asthma, you should know about the most effective asthma treatments for short-term relief and long-term control. Understanding asthma treatments will enable you to work with your asthma doctor to confidently manage your asthma symptoms daily. Pre-order My New Book Today! ARE YOU OK? http://bit.ly/2s0mULy Many of you ask about mental health diagnosis. Whether we have depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm, etc. many of you wonder if you have been diagnosed, how to ask what it is, and what to do if you don't agree with your therapist. Today we talk about just that! In all honesty, diagnosis are important for many reasons. One reason is if it's important to you! Many of you have told me how validating it was to receive a diagnosis and to be able to put a name to all that they have been feeling. If that sounds like something you have felt, then maybe knowing what your diagnosis is could be helpful. Another reason diagnosis are important is because therapists should be using treatment plans in their practice. When creating a treatment plan having a proper diagnosis can help us figure out which tools and techniques to use. It can also help us know if we need to refer out or offer other resources that can help. Lastly, and honestly the most common reason is insurance. Ugh, insurance. I know we all hate it, yet need it, and billing insurance is one of the main reasons I give diagnoses. When we bill insurance, they want to know what it is you are being treated for. Just like any medical condition, they want to know what is being done to help us and why you needed the treatment. Therefore, we have to use the DSM and get the code needed for your insurance to cover it. Whatever the reason, know that you always have the right to ask about it. Especially if it's something they haven't talked to you about, and you would like to know. Also, know that you can disagree or ask for further assessments. Remember this is your diagnosis, and you should not only feel that it describes your symptoms, but also that you understand it and know what you are doing to work on it. I know this may sound silly and simple, but from what I have heard, I don't think professionals always talk about it with their clients. Let's change that! Speak up and make sure that you are getting the treatment you need and deserve. xox Thank you to my Patreon Patrons! Without you, I couldn't keep doing what I am doing. JOURNAL TOPICS! Saw this and thought you might like it: "I am my best friend. I need to treat me with dignity and respect, and most importantly, I need to be compassionate with me. I need to accept me in whatever state and condition I am in." ~ Anonymous Thanks Carly!! xox Hey Kati! I was looking for inspirational/motivational quotes to write down in my recovery journal and I saw this one and thought it would be great to write about in my regular journal because it was so thought provoking for me. “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” When I’m in a bad place this always reminds me that while I can’t control what is happening around me or what is happening to me, I can control my reaction to those things. I can control whether I sit there and do nothing about it or whether I work hard and try to recover from what happened and work to bring myself back into a better state after being brought down by life. You've come to the right place! The Science of Fast Weight Loss Course: http://thehealthnerds.com/the-science-of-fast-weight-loss-course On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me. 4 chipotle gift cards, 3 lululemons, 2 dumbbells clanking, 1 Youtube channelllllll Today, we’re going to talk about new years resolutions and how to make one that actually sticks. The facts are a little grim nerd family… Over 50% of people in America make a new years resolutions with only around 8% of people finding any long term success. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/John_Norcross/publication/11443909_Auld_lang_Syne_Success_predictors_change_processes_and_self-reported_outcomes_of_New_Year%27s_resolvers_and_nonresolvers/links/0fcfd50aaacf2d164e000000.pdf We believe there are 5 main reasons for this and there are simply steps you can take to making your resolution stick like glue Step #1. Keep it Realistic If your goal is that by the end of 2017 you want a million dollars, a sloth farm, the death-star, and a private concert with Beyonce… It’s probably not going to happen. The science tells us that want to set goals that are hard to achieve, but still remain in the realm of possibility. So while a private concert with Beyonce may not be in the cards, finally going to one of her concerts and buying a backstage pass to meet her, makes a lot more sense. Step #2. Don’t set Outcome Goals – Set Process Goals Outcome goals are goals not really in your control while process goals are things we actually can control. For example: An Outcome Goal is something like: I want a to be a millionaire A Process Goal is something like: I will work 2 hours a night building my profitable sloth farm You want your goals to be in your control. The key is picking the right process goals that naturally lead you to the outcome you want. Step #3. Minimize the # of Goals to Less Than 3 In your brain, the prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain helping us with willpower to stick to our resolutions. The problem is that it can only handle so much. Making a list of 10 new year’s resolutions makes it extremely difficult for the cortex to handle and makes it less likely you’ll be able to stick to your resolutions. Start with the 1 big thing you want to achieve in the upcoming year, and only if you feel you can handle it, add in a couple more. Keep in mind resolutions often work like dominos (the actual game, not the pizza). Basically once one falls, so do the rest. Step #4. Get Some Support There’s evidence found by the American Psychological Association that reaching out to friends and loved one’s can really help us accomplish tasks. Now you don’t have to post shirtless photos to Instagram or make a Facebook proclamation to use this science to your advantage… All this means is that sharing your goals, successes, and struggles with people you care about will help with your efforts Step #5. Treat Yo’self A study by the University of Chicago found that when people set out to achieve new tasks, receiving some form of positive feedback helped people accomplish them more frequently. So giving yourself a small reward for sticking to your goals is a good idea. In fact, I often recommended having a reward day to most of my clients where they can go a little nuts and off their diet as it gives them mental relief and something to look forward to. So whatever your goals are - build in some sort of reward system for sticking to the plan. If interested in starting the new year off right, feel free to check out our free video training on fatlossnerds.com On the page we give you the 10 steps to losing weight quickly and effectively, and their all backed by science. We also have a fast fat loss course you can check out that will be linked in the description below. So in summary if you want to make sure your new year’s resolutions stick you should: #1. Keep your goals realistic #2. Don’t set outcome goals, set process goals #3. Minimize the # of goals to less than 3 #4. Get some support #5. Remember to Treat Yo’ self
