More than 30 years after surviving a cervical cancer diagnosis, Mary Beth Eckersley heard an unfortunately familiar phrase from her doctor: you have cancer. This time it would be breast cancer and an aggressive type. “I was devastated and completely thrown off because I was sure they were going to tell me it was just a cyst and it was no big deal,” says Mary Beth. Standing up to her diagnosis with an open mind and heart, Mary Beth moved forward with a positive attitude. She set goals along the way to help keep her spirits up - like becoming an accredited Aquafit instructor, which she achieved earlier this year. Mary Beth’s journey was made better thanks to her compassionate cancer care team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. “We are united. Cancer is not pretty and you cannot do it alone. I am so grateful to the Alberta Cancer Foundation and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for every moment I have to continue being a proud advocate for cancer research here in Alberta.”.

Advance Care Planning is a way to help people think about, talk about and document thier wishes for health care in the future. However, many cancer patients feel that talking about the end of thier life with close friends and family gives the impression that they are giving up and often this important planning does not take place. In this video Lisa Lamont, a clinical social worker at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, describes what a Personal Directive is and why it is important to talk about and plan for end of life issues with friends and family.

Read More: http://www.GistOnThis.com A man from Calgary, Canada, who won the jackpot of $40 million in a lottery, has decided to give away all his winnings. After keeping the news secret from his children for several months, he finally decided to break his silence. Thankfully, his kids are supportive of his decision. Tom Crist, a widower of two years, won the Lotto Max jackpot this year in May. He retired in September, and he says he had always known what he was going to do with the money. "I was fortunate enough in my career to set myself up and my kids anyway," he said. "There was no doubt in my mind where that money was going to go." Crist's lost his wife, Jan, to lung cancer in 2012. "She was fairly young and stuff," he said. "She beat it for six years before it finally caught up to her." Jan was 57 years old when she died. So Crist is definitely going to give a part of his winnings to the Tom Baker Cancer Center, because they had treated his wife. But he is still undecided about where the rest of the money will go. "It's just going to unfold next year, so we'll decide as a family what we're going to do and how we're going to do it," Crist said. "The nice part is you can keep donating for years and years. It'll be in my family trust and we'll just carry on." Another charity under consideration is the Canadian Cancer Society. Crist is a regular player of Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49, both conducted by Western Canada Lottery Corp. He has been playing for years by subscription, which means that his numbers are checked automatically by the company after each draw. In the past, he has won up to $20, but this prize is something he never expected. When he received the call informing him about winning the largest lotto prize in Calgary, Crist was playing golf in California. "I wasn't even sure which game I'd won, or what the numbers were," he said. "I've paid for the subscription when I get the renewal notice every year, and then I just file it." "As soon as I hung up from my cellphone call from Western Canada Lottery, I never thought about it," said Crist, retired CEO and president of electronics company EECOL. "I've kept it a secret, even my kids didn't know until today," he said on Monday. "I've been fortunate enough, through my career, 44 years with a company. I did very well for myself. I've done enough that I can look after myself, for my kids, so they can get looked after into the future. I don't really need that money," he said. When asked why Crist didn't tell his children about the lottery and the plans sooner, he said he felt reluctant. "I just didn't know how to deal with it. I was hoping that I could just somehow move it into, you know, from the lotto corporation into my trust account and not have the media." "But when you buy a ticket you're subject to the rules of the lottery and that's a picture and a notification -- especially if it's a big win," said Crist. For now, Crist will be on an extended holiday in Southeast Asia. But when he's back next year, he will start his donations with Tom Baker Center and set up something in the memory of his wife Jan.

When was the last time you heard of a lottery winner announcing they will be giving away their newfound fortune to charities? Never perhaps? One Calgary man has decided to buck the trend of keeping your lottery winnings and instead help those in need. Tom Crist won $40 million in the Western Canada Lottery this past May, the largest in its history, but didn't reveal his identity and the fact he won the prize until now. Crist even kept the news from his children, casually fielding the phone call from the lottery organization while playing golf in Palm Springs. According to Crist "he didn't even think about it" after receiving the news. Crist wanted to avoid the publicity at all costs, but the lottery rules stipulate that for large winnings such as his it has to be announced and a picture taken of the winner. Crist chose to don a baseball hat and sunglasses, telling the lotto company "That's all your getting." Crist plans to give the money to charity in honor of his wife of 33 years, who died in 2012 from cancer. He will establish a family trust for the money and he and his kids will pick charities to donate the money to. Crist said he is financially comfortable after a long career with one company, where he retired this year as CEO. Imagine that, a person who isn't fueled by greed and doesn't buy into the mantra, "more is better." Why not have $40 million more dollars, or, why not put that excess money towards curing cancer? Several days after the lottery announcement Crist had already issued a $1.2 million check to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, where his wife received her treatments. He's definitely putting his money where his mouth is. sources: http://bit.ly/1fBhBWf http://bit.ly/1cihwrC http://bit.ly/1fMriky

Please visit http://www.calsouthern.edu/psychology/ Treatment of Attachment-Based "Parental Alienation" Presented by Dr. Craig A. Childress Description: This lecture will outline the diagnosis and treatment of an attachment-based model for the psychological and family processes in high-conflict divorce, traditionally described as “parental alienation.” This is a follow-up presentation to an extremely well-received introduction that described, among other things, the attachment-system foundations that lead to parental alienation. You can watch that lecture here. In this presentation, Dr. Childress will set forth a clear framework for diagnosing the presence of attachment-based parental alienation, as well as the components necessary for its effective treatment and resolution. Those who view this lecture will learn: - The diagnostic framework for identifying when attachment-based parental alienation is, and when it is not, responsible for producing the parent-child conflict involved in high-conflict divorce - The four key treatment phases necessary for the effective treatment and resolution of an attachment-based model for parental alienation - The essential features of the child’s psychological experience surrounding parental alienation that are key to the child’s therapy and a restoration of the child’s affectional bond with the currently targeted-rejected parent - The role of the alienating parent in the child’s treatment and recovery, and approaches to managing and working with the alienating parent during and following treatment Bio: Dr. Craig Childress is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in child and family therapy, parent-child conflict, marital conflict, and child development. Dr. Childress has an additional background specialty in early childhood mental health involving the attachment system and the neuro-development of the brain during childhood. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Childress served as the clinical director for a children’s assessment and treatment center operated under the auspices of California State University, San Bernardino. He also was on medical staff at Children’s Hospital of Orange County as a pediatric psychologist, where he served on a collaborative project with the UCI Child Development Center regarding the early identification of ADHD in preschool-age children. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Childress currently teaches graduate-level courses in child development, diagnosis and psychopathology, psychotherapy and treatment planning, and research methodology through the University of Phoenix. He has written extensively on an attachment-based model of parental alienation on his website (http://www.cachildress.org) and blog (http://www.drcraigchildressblog.com), and he has served as an expert consultant and witness in legal cases involving parental alienation across the United States and Canada.

Filmed at the California Southern University School of Behavioral Sciences. Please visit: http://www.calsouthern.edu/psychology Presenter: Dr. Craig Childress Description: This lecture will describe an attachment-based model for understanding the psychological and family processes surrounding what has traditionally been referred to as “parental alienation” in high-conflict divorce. The presentation will cover the family systems origins, the contributing personality disorder factors, and the attachment-system foundations that lead to parental alienation following divorce. A set of three diagnostic indicators in the child’s symptom display will be identified that can reliably identify the presence or absence of parental alienation as the cause of the child’s rejection of a relationship with a parent. Learning Objectives: Those who attend this lecture will be able to: - Understand the family systems origins of parental alienation following divorce. - Understand how parental personality disorder dynamics create the family processes associated with parental alienation. - Understand the origins of parental alienation in disturbances to the alienating parent’s own attachment system. - Recognize and describe the three key diagnostic features of an attachment-based model of parental alienation. Bio: Dr. He has written extensively on an attachment-based model of parental alienation on his website (www.cachildress.org) and blog (drcraigchildressblog.com), and he has served as an expert consultant and witness in legal cases involving “parental alienation” across the United States and Canada.

As he and Walt resume production, Jesse looks for a way to increase his take, while the prospects for Hank’s recovery place Marie at odds with their insurance company. Subscribe for exclusive content: http://bit.ly/BreakingBadSubscribe Season Three - Episode Nine: "Kafkaesque" Episode Description: As Hank's hospital bills stack up, Skyler hatches a plan. Walt and Gus come to a better understanding. Jesse, looking for more independence, pursues a new opportunity. Episode Overview: Their partnership renewed, Walt and Jesse have resumed production in their lab in order to meet Gus’s quota. Though Walt is focused on the task at hand, Jesse is unhappy when, after making some back-of-the-envelope calculations, he realizes that they are being paid a mere pittance compared to what Gus is making on the deal. And to make matters worse, when Jesse points out that they are delivering more than promised, Walt doesn’t seem to care. Meanwhile, as Agent Gomez applauds his foresight regarding the resurgence of blue meth in the drug market, Hank tells everyone of the mysterious warning he received just prior to the attempt on his life. In the wake of the latest assessment by Hank’s spinal surgeon, Marie begins to see just how difficult – and expensive – his rehabilitation will be. But when both the doctor and the hospital administrator advise her to adhere closely to the insurance company guidelines, Marie vows to do whatever it takes to see that Hank walks again. Meanwhile Saul recommends that Jesse buy a nail salon to launder their illegal income, while Walt negotiates a long-term deal with Gus that will net them millions more than originally promised. Yet, unaware of the untold riches that await him, Jesse hatches a plan to siphon off drugs from Gus’s shipments for him and his pals to sell on their own. Following a surprise visit at home, Skyler does her best to convince Ted Beneke that their affair is over. Then, watching Marie prepare to go on the warpath against their health insurance company, she comes up with a plan to pay for Hank’s rehab. As she and Walt are consoling Marie over the insurer’s latest denial of a claim, Skyler says they can pay the uninsured medical expenses. When Marie presses her to explain where the money will come from, Walt listens uncomfortably as Skyler claims that Walt won a fortune gambling. And when during a moment alone Walt objects, Skyler makes it clear that, because she suspects he had something to do with the attempt on Hank’s life, it is his responsibility to pay whatever it takes to help him recover. #JessePinkman #Badger #SkinnyPete #WalterWhite

Watch as this doctor admits that keto is the worst diet in the world. Regardless of what research, common sense and clinical results may say, we should all listen to the expert panel convened recently by U.S. News & World Report. This panel of experts ranked today's diets from the best to the worst, and guess which diet came in dead last? Yep, the stupid ketogenic diet. Just because people have amazing Permanent results with it, and feel amazing with this lifestyle, that is no reason for silly doctors to recommend it. Watch this video to learn exactly why the Weight Watchers diet is the best diet in the world, and why you should follow it. Don't listen to doctors like Noakes, Baker, Fettke, Davis, Fung, and Berry. They have the silly notion that human nutrition should make sense, and that if done properly, human nutrition can prevent and improve chronic disease.
