It appeals to those seeking to improve their lives, whether by the practical application of thought or through following a more spiritual path. "By thought man either blesses or curses himself. By it he brings into his life either success or failure, health or disease, happiness or unhappiness, poverty or prosperity. It is all in his mind and the character of his thought. Whatever there is in your life or mine, of disharmony, lack, sickness or unhappiness, is the result of our disharmonious thought. We live in an orderly Universe, but we do not react harmoniously to our environment, we are not in correspondence with the hidden law and order around us. It is not necessary for the universe to be altered; what is needed is that we ourselves should be changed. Within ourselves is the cause of the disorder in our own individual world-for we each live in a little world of our own creation- therefore, the disorder and trouble lhal afflicts us, or the lack that restricts our life, can never be overcome, save by a change of mind, habit of thought, and mental attitude." Henry Thomas Hamblin was an English mystic and New Thought author. He believed that "abounding health, sufficiency of supply, achievement, accomplishment and joy indescribable are the normal state for man.", and that, to achieve this state, man needed to come into "harmony with Cosmic Law". Henry Thomas Hamblin was an English mystic and New Thought author. The essence of Hamblin's mystical experience and philosophy was of the omnipresence, omnipotence and all-goodness of God ("The Kingdom or realm of God is with us now and always"). He believed that "abounding health, sufficiency of supply, achievement, accomplishment and joy indescribable are the normal state for man.", and that, to achieve this state, man needed to come into "harmony with Cosmic Law". Over time the emphasis of Hamblin's written work changed from showing people how to change their lives through right thought and faith, to teaching them how to find a living consciousness of God for himself alone. Works by Henry Thomas Hamblin include: Within You is the Power (Science of Thought Press, 1998). The Way of the Practical Mystic (Polair Publishing, 2004). The Story of my Life (Science of Thought Press). My Search for Truth (Science of Thought Press). The Message of a Flower (Science of Thought Press). Thoughts Are Things by Prentice Mulford

Support New Wellness Living and this 'New Thought Series': Via Paypal: paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=PQRGZ58MG9EDA Prentice Mulford wrote this book in 1889, long before more well-known, contemporary authors began writing about the power of thought. Despite being over 100 years old, this is a powerful book on thought. Mulford explains we have, in effect, two minds: the mind of the body and the mind of the spirit. The mind of the body is limited and fights change. It thinks things must always be the way they've always been. The mind of the spirit trusts in the Supreme Power which made all things and knows that anything is possible if you believe. Long before the law of attraction became widely known, Mulford talked about the fact that what we talk about and think about is what we attract to ourselves. He explains that if a group of people talk about disease or suffering, they will eventually bring disease and suffering to themselves in some form. He also notes that the surest way for a woman to become ugly is to be discontented, cross, complaining and envious of others. He therefore encourages the reader to call on the help of the Supreme Power to get into the thought current of things that are healthy, natural, strong and beautiful, and leave the negative thinking behind. While the book talks about many aspects of the power of thought that will be familiar to today's readers, he also covers some topics you don't hear discussed as much today. One of my favorite chapters is the one on cultivating courage. He notes that courage and presence of mind mean the same thing; and cowardice and lack of mental control mean about the same thing. He notes that courage comes from discipline regarding so-called little or trivial things. It means focusing on whatever you're doing at the moment, rather than allowing your thoughts to scatter in many directions. This focus allows you to have the presence of mind to do what needs to be done, rather than to panic. Prentice mulford was a noted humorist and author. He was also an early pioneer and co-founder of the "New Thought" movement. Works by Prentice Mulford include: Thoughts Are Things Your Forces and How to Use Them The Gift of Understanding Gift of Spirit (1917 2nd revised ed.) Thought Forces: Essays Selected from the White Cross Library Prentice Mulford's Story: Life By Land and Sea Gift Of The Spirit (1904) 1st edition- with an introduction by Arthur Edward Waite Source: Wikipedia.org | Amazon.com

My Search for Truth by Henry Thomas Hamblin

Support New Wellness Living and this 'New Thought Series': Via Paypal: paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=PQRGZ58MG9EDA My Search for Truth is Henry Thomas Hamblin's autobiographical trek searching for truth in God. From early childhood to adulthood and becoming one of the forerunners of the New Thought Movement Hamblin takes us on his journey of discovery. My earliest recollections carry me back to the time when I was being prompted by Mother as I stumblingly said the child's prayer 'Gentle Jesus, meek and mild, look upon a little child, pity my simplicity, suffer me to come to Thee'. I also remember my father taking me for walks and showing me various wild flowers, and telling me how to recognize the songs of the different birds, for being a countryman he knew them all. He told me stories about Jesus and what He did and said while on earth. He taught me, too, to sing the hymn: 'When mothers of Salem, their children brought to Jesus'. I used to think a lot about Jesus. He was very real to me and I greatly wished that I could see Him, and be like the children of Salem whom He took in His arms and blessed. It would have been lovely, I thought. The World As I See It by Albert Einstein

Support New Wellness Living and this 'New Thought Series': Via Paypal: paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=PQRGZ58MG9EDA The World as I See It is a book by Albert Einstein published in 1949. Composed of assorted articles, addresses, letters, interviews and pronouncements published before 1935, it includes Einstein's opinions on the meaning of life, ethics, science, society, religion, and politics. These fragments form a mosaic portrait of Einstein the man. Each one is, in a sense, complete in itself; it presents his views on some aspect of progress, education, peace, war, liberty, or other problems of universal interest. Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist and philosopher of science. He developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). He is best known in popular culture for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2 (which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation"). He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect". The latter was pivotal in establishing quantum theory. Near the beginning of his career, Einstein thought that Newtonian mechanics was no longer enough to reconcile the laws of classical mechanics with the laws of the electromagnetic field. This led to the development of his special theory of relativity. He realized, however, that the principle of relativity could also be extended to gravitational fields, and with his subsequent theory of gravitation in 1916, he published a paper on the general theory of relativity. He continued to deal with problems of statistical mechanics and quantum theory, which led to his explanations of particle theory and the motion of molecules. He also investigated the thermal properties of light which laid the foundation of the photon theory of light. In 1917, Einstein applied the general theory of relativity to model the large-scale structure of the universe. Einstein published more than 300 scientific papers along with over 150 non-scientific works. His intellectual achievements and originality have made the word "Einstein" synonymous with genius. Therapy in an Age of Digital Attachment

02:28:51
Filmed at the California Southern University School of Behavioral Sciences. Please visit http://www.calsouthern.edu/psychology/ Therapy in an Age of Digital Attachment Presented by Dr. Doreen Dodgen-Magee Description: Research tells us that Americans spend, on average, 12 hours and 28 minutes each day “engaging” with screens. This time comes at the expense of family talk time, social practice, sleep and physical activity. As these experiences diminish and interaction with technology increases in private, educational, and professional settings, impacts are being made neurologically, relationally, and intra-personally. While some positive effects are present, many negative effects are also experienced, and they are revealed in the literature (e.g., agitation, boredom intolerance, self-centricity, and more). Dr. Dodgen-Magee (http://doreendm.com/) will discuss the effects of texting, social networking, video game play, pornography, and over-reliance upon technology, as well as outlining the trends and movements of technology in learning and professional settings across the lifespan. Exposure to up-to-the-day pop culture references and trends will give the participant an ability to discuss the contexts within which their clients and their clients’ communities are residing. Attendees will be exposed to tools regarding the assessment of a client’s engagement with technology and media. In addition, Dr. Dodgen-Magee will provide an overview of multiple intelligences theory as a resource for helping people find meaningful ways of re-engaging their embodied lives as opposed to their digital ones. Far from being a fear-driven or anti-technology message, this lecture emphasizes the exploration of techniques for using the art of face-to-face, embodied psychotherapy to create healthy technology-use norms, and breaking destructive habits that clients have developed. Learning Objectives: Those who attend this lecture will be able to: - Understand and assess the digital pools in which their clients are immersed. - Identify the benefits and costs of a client’s technology use, and employ strategies for setting healthy technology-use norms. - Use the practical tips and tools provided to include a realistic coverage of the client’s digital-life and embodied-life communication skills within the therapeutic setting. Bio: Dr. Doreen Dodgen-Magee (http://doreendm.com/) is a licensed psychologist in Portland, Oregon, maintaining both an individual therapy practice and a national public-speaking docket. She has 23 years of experience working with adults dealing with issues of loss, depression and anxiety, relationships, and life transitions, and has a sub-specialty consulting with parents experiencing difficult child-related dilemmas. She is an author as well as a frequent guest lecturer in professional, medical, and parenting circles, and offers continuing education for psychologists, medical professionals, educators, and administrators. Dr. Dodgen-Magee’s public speaking style is engaging, quick-paced, research-based, and always up to date, as she endeavors to keep a finger on the pulse of both popular cultural trends and scholarly discourse and research. She excels at creating hospitable spaces, both personally and professionally, allowing people to engage one another and themselves and investigate new ideas. She doesn’t just “show up, give a talk, and leave.” She invites connection between the audience and her in multiple ways.

Our Miss Brooks: Deacon Jones / Bye Bye / Planning a Trip to Europe / Non-Fraternization Policy

01:53:17
Our Miss Brooks is an American situation comedy starring Eve Arden as a sardonic high school English teacher. It began as a radio show broadcast from 1948 to 1957. When the show was adapted to television (1952--56), it became one of the medium's earliest hits. In 1956, the sitcom was adapted for big screen in the film of the same name. Connie (Constance) Brooks (Eve Arden), an English teacher at fictional Madison High School. Osgood Conklin (Gale Gordon), blustery, gruff, crooked and unsympathetic Madison High principal, a near-constant pain to his faculty and students. (Conklin was played by Joseph Forte in the show's first episode; Gordon succeeded him for the rest of the series' run.) Occasionally Conklin would rig competitions at the school--such as that for prom queen--so that his daughter Harriet would win. Walter Denton (Richard Crenna, billed at the time as Dick Crenna), a Madison High student, well-intentioned and clumsy, with a nasally high, cracking voice, often driving Miss Brooks (his self-professed favorite teacher) to school in a broken-down jalopy. Miss Brooks' references to her own usually-in-the-shop car became one of the show's running gags. Philip Boynton (Jeff Chandler on radio, billed sometimes under his birth name Ira Grossel); Robert Rockwell on both radio and television), Madison High biology teacher, the shy and often clueless object of Miss Brooks' affections. Margaret Davis (Jane Morgan), Miss Brooks' absentminded landlady, whose two trademarks are a cat named Minerva, and a penchant for whipping up exotic and often inedible breakfasts. Harriet Conklin (Gloria McMillan), Madison High student and daughter of principal Conklin. A sometime love interest for Walter Denton, Harriet was honest and guileless with none of her father's malevolence and dishonesty. Stretch (Fabian) Snodgrass (Leonard Smith), dull-witted Madison High athletic star and Walter's best friend. Daisy Enright (Mary Jane Croft), Madison High English teacher, and a scheming professional and romantic rival to Miss Brooks. Jacques Monet (Gerald Mohr), a French teacher. Our Miss Brooks was a hit on radio from the outset; within eight months of its launch as a regular series, the show landed several honors, including four for Eve Arden, who won polls in four individual publications of the time. Arden had actually been the third choice to play the title role. Harry Ackerman, West Coast director of programming, wanted Shirley Booth for the part, but as he told historian Gerald Nachman many years later, he realized Booth was too focused on the underpaid downside of public school teaching at the time to have fun with the role. Lucille Ball was believed to have been the next choice, but she was already committed to My Favorite Husband and didn't audition. Chairman Bill Paley, who was friendly with Arden, persuaded her to audition for the part. With a slightly rewritten audition script--Osgood Conklin, for example, was originally written as a school board president but was now written as the incoming new Madison principal--Arden agreed to give the newly-revamped show a try. Produced by Larry Berns and written by director Al Lewis, Our Miss Brooks premiered on July 19, 1948. According to radio critic John Crosby, her lines were very "feline" in dialogue scenes with principal Conklin and would-be boyfriend Boynton, with sharp, witty comebacks. The interplay between the cast--blustery Conklin, nebbishy Denton, accommodating Harriet, absentminded Mrs. Davis, clueless Boynton, scheming Miss Enright--also received positive reviews. Arden won a radio listeners' poll by Radio Mirror magazine as the top ranking comedienne of 1948-49, receiving her award at the end of an Our Miss Brooks broadcast that March. "I'm certainly going to try in the coming months to merit the honor you've bestowed upon me, because I understand that if I win this two years in a row, I get to keep Mr. Boynton," she joked. But she was also a hit with the critics; a winter 1949 poll of newspaper and magazine radio editors taken by Motion Picture Daily named her the year's best radio comedienne. For its entire radio life, the show was sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive-Peet, promoting Palmolive soap, Lustre Creme shampoo and Toni hair care products. The radio series continued until 1957, a year after its television life ended. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Miss_Brooks
