How To Take Synthroid Properly | Best Way To Take Levothyroxine Correctly | When To Take Thyroid Medication After Eating Hey guys! This weeks video is all about how to take your thyroid medication properly to get the most out of it. Levothyroxine is a medicine used to treat an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) which affects 1 in 70 women and 1 in 1,000 men in the UK. The thyroid gland makes thyroid hormone which helps to control energy levels and growth. Levothyroxine is taken to replace the missing thyroid hormone. KEY FACTS: • Levothyroxine starts working straight away, but it may be several weeks before your symptoms start to improve. • The most common side effects of levothyroxine are caused by taking a bigger dose than you need. Your doctor can lower your dose to help reduce any side effects. • Before you start taking levothyroxine, your healthcare professional will do a blood test to see what dose you need. Once you start taking the medicine you'll have regular blood tests to see how well it’s working. HOW AND WHEN TO TAKE: • Unless told otherwise by your prescriber or healthcare professional take levothyroxine once a day in the morning, ideally at least 30-60 minutes before having breakfast or a drink containing caffeine like tea or coffee. • Both breakfast and caffeinated drinks can stop your body taking in levothyroxine properly so it doesn't work as well. • If you can't take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach take levothyroxine at least 2 hours after eating food. • If you buy any medicines, check with a pharmacist that they are safe to take with levothyroxine. Levothyroxine should not be taken at the same time as indigestion remedies or preparations containing calcium or iron (which are contained in some vitamin products). These types of medicines reduce the amount of levothyroxine absorbed by your body. Leave at least 2-4 hours between taking your dose of levothyroxine and any such preparation. • Soya interferes with thyroxine absorption, therefore if you are taking thyroxine you should try to avoid soya. If you wish to take soya, there should be as long a time interval as possible between eating the soya and taking the thyroxine. • Avoid products such as kelp, as they may interfere with thyroid function & wellbeing. Kelp is derived from seaweed and is naturally high in iodine. Because of this it is sometimes marketed as a "thyroid booster" and can be purchased in dry preparations and tablets. As with iodine itself, it is of no health benefit to those with thyroid disease. • Levothyroxine medication interactions link - https://bnf.nice.org.uk/interaction/levothyroxine.html (THIS LINK ONLY WORKS IF YOU LIVE IN THE UK. -Here's an alternative, pop in all your medicines and check for specific interactions- https://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.html BLOOD TESTS: Your healthcare professional will do regular blood tests to check the levels of thyroid hormones in your body before and after starting levothyroxine. These will allow your doctor to adjust your dose to suit you. At the start of treatment you can expect to have blood tests often. Once your hormone levels are stable, you’ll usually have a blood test after 4 to 6 months, and after that once a year. You may need blood tests more often if you: • Are pregnant • Start or stop a medicine that can interfere with levothyroxine • Have any symptoms that could mean your dose is not quite right MISSED DOSES: If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose. In which case just skip the forgotten dose. Do not take 2 doses together to make up for a missed dose. If you forget doses often, it may help to set an alarm to remind you. You could also ask your pharmacist for advice on other ways to help you remember to take your medicine. Want to see more videos about everything health and pharmacy? 6 Ways Coconut Oil Can Benefit Those With Thyroid Problems

03:19
Coconut oil has many health benefits that are well-documented. However, one recently discovered benefit is that coconut oil can help treat symptoms of hypothyroidism, or an under-active thyroid. Hypothyroidism occurs when the body’s thyroid gland does not make enough hormones to allow the body to function appropriately. Coconut oil contains a fatty acid called lauric acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Coconut oil also contains capric acid, which has antimicrobial and antiviral properties. It is recommended that you use extra virgin coconut oil for the best health benefits. One tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil should be consumed daily. It can be added to hot beverages, such as tea or coffee, and added to daily cooking, drizzled over a salad or added to a smoothie. Today’s video will discuss health issues that coconut oil can help treat. 1. Metabolism When the body’s thyroid is under-active, it can cause the body to feel fatigued and without energy. The fatty acids in coconut oil help the fats in the body convert to energy. This, in turn, boosts the body’s metabolic rate. 2. Weight Loss One of the most major symptoms of an under-active thyroid is unexplained weight gain. The weight is very hard to lose and the thyroid hormones directly slow down the body’s metabolism. The Journal of Nutrition published a study that showed the fatty acids in coconut oil help to keep the body feeling fuller, longer. Thus, assisting the body in shedding excess weight. 3. Constipation When hormones from the thyroid are low, the body’s organs run slower as well, causing the digestive tract and intestines to lag. The fatty acids in coconut oil provide the body with energy and boost organ function. Coconut oil also works as a natural laxative and is effective in fighting constipation. 4. Inflammation An under-active thyroid causes muscle and joint pain, largely from unbalanced hormone levels. Coconut oil can naturally calm any inflammation and relieve any pain. 5. Hair Loss The thyroid can affect the health of your hair and may even cause it to begin to fall out. However, adding coconut oil to your regime will prevent this from occurring and repair hair follicles. 6. Dry Skin The imbalance of hormones caused by an under-active thyroid can cause the body’s skin to become dry and flaky. Coconut oil can be added directly to the affected skin to restore its moisture and healthy skin. Have you experienced an under-active thyroid? Have you tried any of these remedies? Treating Hypothyroidism With Synthroid

02:16
Learn How To Cure Hypothyroidism At: http://www.HypothyroidRevolution.org In alternative medicine, there is very little difference in curing hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. This is because the treatment involves assisting the thyroid to heal, in either case. Those with hyperthyroidism should not use iodine, because it could overdrive the thyroid, worsening the condition. Curing thyroid disease requires a long-term commitment for a period of at least a year. Creating this problem took years of self-poisoning, so fixing it is neither quick, nor easy. Hypothyroidism medications are addictive, and the body becomes reliant on them, which is why the mainstream establishment maintains that people must take them forever. Those who have been taking hypothyroidism medications for years must slowly wean themselves from the drugs. Abruptly stopping these medications will result in extreme fatigue, and additional thyroid problems. Treatment Recommendations Eliminate and discard all non-stick cookware Eliminate Soy - Soy suppresses thyroid function, imbalances hormones, and it has been shown to cause goiters (an enlargement of the thyroid gland) in previously healthy individuals, which shows that it disrupts iodine usage. Adhere to an Alkaline Diet - This is extremely helpful when curing any chronic disease. Reference the Body pH and Disease article to guide you. Balance Estrogen Levels (Women) - Excess estrogen slows down the thyroid gland. This means eliminating birth control medications, increasing the fiber in the diet, and avoiding all non-organic meats. Growth hormones in meats lead to imbalanced hormones. Reduce dairy intake, because milk often contains lots of estrogen; primarily because cows are milked frequently during pregnancy. Exercise - Find a physical activity that is fun, and do it often. We believe that exercise could half the cure time in some cases, and curing is not possible without it. Hemp Fiber - This is a broad spectrum supplement and a mild laxative. L-Tyrosine - Tyrosine is a natural amino acid which helps the body produce its own thyroid hormone. This is also known to help with the depression, which usually accompanies hypothyroidism. Most naturopaths recommend that 500 mg. be taken 2-3 times daily. L-Arginine - Arginine is known to stimulate the thyroid and its hormones. It also improves immune function, improves fertility, and alleviates erectile dysfunction. Iodine - The thyroid needs iodine to function properly, and lots of people now suffer from iodine deficiencies. To test yourself, place some iodine (we use 2%) on your stomach. Make a dot the size of a silver dollar (or twice the size of a British 50p). If it disappears within 12 hours, then you are iodine deficient. Keep adding iodine in increasing amounts, until it no longer disappears in a 12-hour period. This works due to the fact that the body absorbs iodine at the rate at which it is needed. Do not use povidone iodine and do not orally consume iodine. This is especially an important precaution for those with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Avoid all sources of fluoride - As already mentioned, fluoride suppresses the thyroid, and is likely to be the leading cause of hypothyroidism. Drink spring water, avoid soft drinks, use fluoride-free toothpaste, use a shower filter, and throw away non-stick cookware. Both coffee and tea naturally contain fluoride, so use iodine to compensate if these drinks are indispensable. Eat a natural diet - To help the body to heal itself, remove burdens on its immune system. This means that all processed foods, artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, white flour, white sugar, table salt, hydrogenated oils, aluminum, high fructose corn syrup, and etcetera should be eliminated from the diet. Organic food is the ideal. Do not trust marketing that reads "All Natural", because this phrase is unregulated, so anyone can use it for anything. Read labels carefully. Chlorophyll - Supplementing with chlorophyll provides essential copper, helps oxygenate the body, builds healthy red blood cells, and it overall assists with skin health. Chlorophyll is a safe method of orally supplementing with copper. Those who are using our Colloidal Copper Lotion are unlikely to need more copper. Zinc and Selenium: Studies indicate that severe zinc or selenium deficiencies can cause decreased thyroid hormone levels. Never take zinc on an empty stomach. Brazil nuts are high in both zinc and selenium. Coconut Oil: Buy organic, cold-pressed, coconut oil from a health food store. Take around 1 teaspoon of it daily. You can also use it to cook with, but be warned that it smokes at low cooking temperatures, so it should only be used for low-heat cooking. Coconut oil speeds the metabolism, encourages production of the thyroid hormone, and kills candida yeast.

How To Take Metformin | How To Start Taking Metformin | How To Reduce Metformin Side Effects (2018)

03:58
How To Take Metformin Without Side Effects | When Is The Best Time To Take Metformin | How To Build Up Metformin | Metformin 500mg Side Effects Constipation Diarrhea Hey guys! This weeks video is about metformin and the importance of slowly building up your dose to the prescribed dose to help reduce it's side effects when you're first started on it. Metformin is a medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes and sometimes polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Type 2 diabetes is an illness where the body doesn't make enough insulin, or the insulin that it makes doesn't work properly. This can cause high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia). PCOS is a condition that affects how the ovaries work. KEY FACTS: • Metformin works by reducing the amount of sugar your liver releases into your blood. It also makes your body respond better to insulin. Insulin is the hormone that controls the level of sugar in your blood. • It's best to take metformin with a meal to reduce the side effects. • The most common side effects are feeling sick, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach ache and going off your food. • Metformin does not cause weight gain (unlike some other diabetes medicines). • Metformin may also be called by the brand names Bolamyn, Diagemet, Glucient, Glucophage, and Metabet. HOW AND WHEN TO TAKE: It's best to take metformin tablets with a meal to reduce the side effects. Swallow your metformin tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not chew them. Metformin tablets come in different strengths. Your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take a day. DIFFERENT TYPES OF METFORMIN: Metformin comes as 2 different types of tablet - standard-release tablets and slow-release tablets. Standard-release tablets release metformin into your body quickly. You may need to take them several times a day depending on your dose. Slow-release tablets dissolve slowly so you don't have to take them as often. Your doctor or pharmacist will explain what type of metformin tablets you are on and how to take them. Metformin is also available as a liquid for children and people who find it difficult to swallow tablets. Liquid metformin is called by the brand name Riomet. WILL MY DOSE GO UP OR DOWN: Your doctor will check your blood sugar levels regularly and may change your dose of metformin if necessary. When you first start taking metformin standard-release tablets you will be advised to increase the dose slowly. This reduces the chances of getting side effects. (See video for explanation on how to build up dose slowly) If you find you can't tolerate the side effects of standard-release metformin, your doctor may suggest switching to slow-release tablets. HOW TO COPE WITH SIDE EFFECTS: • Feeling sick - take metformin with food to reduce the chances of feeling sick - it may also help to slowly increase your dose over several weeks. • Diarrhoea or vomiting - have small but frequent sips of water. It may also help to take oral rehydration solutions which you can buy from a pharmacy or supermarket to prevent dehydration. Don't take any other medicines to treat diarrhoea or vomiting without speaking to a pharmacist or doctor. • Metallic taste in the mouth - if you find that metformin is giving you a metallic taste in the mouth, try chewing sugar-free gum. If you find you are suffering from side effects talk to your doctor about switching to a slow-release tablet. MORE INFORMATION ABOUT METFORMIN: Visit the following links to learn more about metformin and serious side effects or allergies which will need medical attention. https://beta.nhs.uk/medicines/metformin/ https://patient.info/medicine/metformin-for-diabetes Want to see more videos about everything health and pharmacy? (TBS #17) What’s the Best Way to Take your Thyroid Medication? AM vs PM? Split Dosing?

10:06
Today is lesson #17 and it's all about the best way to take thyroid medication. Should you take your thyroid medication in the morning? Should you take it in the evening? Should you split your dose? Should you take it on an empty stomach? All of these questions and more will be answered. First off... why does it matter when or how you take your thyroid medication? The first thing you should know is that in order for thyroid hormone to be activated it MUST be absorbed by your body. If it isn't absorbed then you won't feel better. When you take it or how you take it may alter how much is absorbed which may impact how you feel. What time of day that you take your medication matters: Newer studies have shown that taking your thyroid medication in the evening may actually help increase free thyroid hormone levels. This is felt to be because the GI tract is more active during the morning which means that you may not absorb as much of it at that time. In addition, many people drink coffee and caffeine in the morning which activates your GI tract. Should you take it with or without meals? Taking thyroid hormone with meals may result in decreased absorption of your medication as your body competes with food and energy for absorption. To avoid this you should take your thyroid medication on an empty stomach. You can pretty much avoid this issue entirely by taking your thyroid medication in the evening because most people don't eat right before bed! What about supplements? There are a range of supplements which also interfere with how well your body can absorb your medication. These supplements include: - Iron - Calcium - Sucralfate - Acid blockers - Caffeine - Iodine - Fiber If you take your thyroid medication with these supplements then the amount that you absorb may be reduced! And, lastly, should you split your dose throughout the day? You don't necessarily have to do this but you may find an improvement in your symptoms by doing so. Splitting your dose may look like this: Instead of taking 100mcg of T4 in the morning you may want to take 50mcg in the morning and 50 in the evening. Some people feel better by doing this. Hey guys! Iron Tablets | How To Take Iron Tablets | How To Reduce Iron Supplement Side Effects (2018)

03:26
How To Take Iron Tablet Properly | How To Reduce Iron Tablet Side Effects | Iron Supplements For Best Absorption | Iron Vitamin C | Ferrous Sulphate Hey guys! This weeks video is about how to take an iron supplement so you can get the most out of it and how to reduce the side effects associated with them. Iron supplements are prescribed or recommended when when your anaemic or at risk of developing anaemia because the iron stores in your body are low. Symptoms of iron deficiency anaemia can include: • Tiredness and lack of energy • Shortness of breath • Noticeable heartbeats (heart palpitations) • Pale skin HOW TO TAKE YOUR IRON SUPPLEMENT: To help get the best absorption of your iron supplement you should take it on an empty stomach (preferably one hour before a meal or two hours after) with a drink containing vitamin C, such as a glass of orange juice or another juice drink with added vitamin C. Absorption of iron from the gut is reduced by food, tea and milk, so these should be avoided for one hour before and after taking the iron supplement. The precise instructions for when to take your supplements will be discussed with you by the healthcare professional who prescribes them. The only factor that improves the absorption of iron is vitamin C. This is why we recommend that you take your iron supplement with a drink containing vitamin C. HOW DO IRON SUPPLEMENTS WORK: Iron is needed for the production of haemoglobin, which is an essential ingredient in red blood cells. Haemoglobin is very important as it carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. If you don’t have enough iron, you can develop anaemia, which means that you aren’t making enough red blood cells to carry oxygen around your body. You may become breathless, tired and have a lack of energy, your skin may become pale and you may have palpitations (noticeable heartbeats). COMMON SIDE EFFECTS: The following side effects are common, • Stomach upset • Nausea (feeling sick) • Stomach ache • Diarrhoea • Constipation These usually improve as your body gets used to the iron supplements. If the side effects continue to be a problem for you, contact the healthcare professional who prescribed the iron supplements and discuss the possible options I have recommended in the video with them. Iron supplements can also make your stools look darker in colour. This is completely harmless. IRON SUPPLEMENT INTERACTIONS: Some medicines are not suitable for people with certain conditions, and sometimes a medicine may only be used if extra care is taken. For these reasons, before you start taking an iron supplement it is important that your doctor or pharmacist knows: • If you are taking any other medicines. This includes any medicines you are taking which are available to buy without a prescription, as well as herbal and complementary medicines. • If you have ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine. Link to iron supplement interactions, this link is for ferrous sulphate a commonly prescribed iron supplement. If you are taking a different iron supplement, on the same page you can search the name of it and click interactions - https://bnf.nice.org.uk/interaction/ferrous-sulfate-2.html IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ALL MEDICINES: Never take more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you or someone else might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the accident and emergency department of your local hospital. Take the container with you, even if it is empty. This medicine is for you. Never give it to other people even if their condition appears to be the same as yours. If you are having an operation or any dental treatment, tell the person carrying out the treatment which medicines you are taking. If you have any questions about this medicine ask your pharmacist. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg interviews Vicki Bales Humble with her success on the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. Before she started keto, her cholesterol was fairly high. She never had a weight problem growing up, and then gained weight having children but always lost it quickly. When she was in her mid twenties, she started losing weight at an extreme rate and her mother was worried, so she took her to the doctor where she found her thyroid was shutting down. Once her thyroid stopped working she gained weight and the doctors put her on Synthroid, and made her feel like a zombie, all she wanted to do was sleep, sleep, and sleep some more. Medications tend to not work but after the doctors played around with the dose, she finally said forget it "I would rather be fat and happy then skinny and a zombie." Fast forward to her late 40's and here she is still over weight. She started Keto May 27, 2017, and she lost 78 pounds. She was a size 18/20 and now a size 6/8, LDL 94 HDL 96 Triglycerides 53 and guess what? Her thyroid is NOW WORKING!! She lost 27 pounds. Intermittent Fasting & Your Thyroid

It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about Intermittent Fasting and your thyroid. Many people are concerned about intermittent fasting because they think they will lower their calories and damage or slow the already slow thyroid. As long as you keep the calories the same or keep your nutrients the same and eat less frequent meals - you will not slow the thyroid. In fact, intermittent fasting can help convert T4 to T3 improving the thyroid. I do recommend doing a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting. Selenium (Nutritional or Brewers Yeast), and iodine is best for the thyroid, and I recommend taking sea help. Make sure your sea kelp is organic is clean. You may want to avoid doing too many cruciferous vegetables as they could slow the thyroid even more. Vitamin A and D are also vital for the thyroid and "Virgin Cod Liver Oil" is the best for that. Can one fast with Hypothyroidism? - Dr. Surekha Tiwari

01:26
Hypothyroidism is a metabolic disorder. Your thyroid is not working. So your TSH levels are going high because the thyroid is not producing enough thyroxin and the pituitary gland is somewhere getting the information that the metabolism is not on dot, that is hypothyroidism, that has nothing to do with fasting. Fasting is something to do where you are detoxifying your body. Detoxification is always good. Even for hypothyroidism it is good as long as it is done intelligently. In all the religious favors that we must also take care that the body runs on simple shear method of if you are cleansing it, provided for enough water, provided alkaline medium and ensure that you are giving it rest. So if you are doing any of this, then hypothyroidism is no contraindication to fasting.
How I Lost Weight With Hypothyroidism

12:06
Before I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, I started gaining weight for no reason, just like everyone else. And just like everyone else, I thought that meant I needed to work out harder and eat less in order for everything to fall into place. But that did not work. In fact the opposite happened. The harder I worked out, the more I gained. So I know how frustrating it is when you’re doing “all the right things”… but it just won't budge. But I also know how AMAZING it feels to figure out how to work WITH your body and get it to release the death grip it’s got on your fat stores! How To Lose Weight With Hypothyroidism

05:12
For more details, click here: http://dietvsdisease.org/how-to-lose-weight-with-an-underactive-thyroid/ To subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/DietvsDiseaseOrg?sub_confirmation=1 Losing weight and keeping it off can be a struggle. Especially if you have an underactive thyroid. Your metabolism has slowed down and you’re almost always feeling tired. In this video we're looking at 4 steps required to successfully lose weight with hypothyroidism. TITLE - How To Lose Weight With Hypothyroidism Slide - 1. Optimise Your Thyroid Medication If your medication is not helping to correct thyroid hormone levels, as well as relieve symptoms, then weight loss goes from difficult to impossible. Determine what type of medication is better for you, and also find the optimal dose required. While Levothyroxine is on average more effective, dessicated thyroid is a useful alternative that is reportedly much better tolerated. There is no difference between taking your thyroid hormone meds in the morning vs evening. Choose whatever is easier for you to have it on a fasting stomach. SLIDE 2. Cut Back on Added Sugars and Refined Starches I need to begin with this clarification: Carbohydrates are not inherently bad for you. That is, they do not make you fat or sick on their own. That said, carbs in the form of added sugars and highly refined starches are unhealthy and unnecessary. They offer almost zero nutritional benefit and make up a large portion of the excess calories we consume. Cutting back on added sugar is the most simple and direct way to cut out excess “empty” calories. This is done by limiting intake of junk foods, flavoured drinks, alcohol, white bread, most cereals, and a good portion of packaged food in your supermarket’s “health food” aisle. Now it’s unrealistic (and unfair) to expect yourself to completely avoid added sugar every day of the year. But you need to begin taking actionable steps that help you cut back and form healthier habits. Start by not having junk foods at home, or at least keep them out of sight in a cupboard you never use. 3. Base Meals Around Vegetables and Protein If you want to lose weight with an underactive thyroid, vegies and a source of protein should be the foundation of almost every meal you make, and plated first when serving. The main benefit of protein is that it’s much more satiating than both fat and carbs. That means it has a unique ability to reduce appetite and therefore your overall caloric intake too. STUDY - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8862477, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15466943 Studies show high protein diets may also reduce obsessive thoughts about food by 60% and cut desire for late-night snacks by half (3, 4). Foods high in protein include meat, seafood, eggs, nuts, legumes (beans) and dairy. Protein is also the muscle-building nutrient, so a high protein diet complements regular exercise. Nutrient-dense meals are even more important for those with hypothyroidism and other autoimmune diseases, where nutrient absorption and deficiency are more common. Emphasis goes to green leafy vegetables, mushrooms and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. As a general guide, the protein portion of your meal should be the size of your palm, and salad/vegetables the size of your hand. This would leave about 1/4 or less of your plate for healthy carbs if you so choose (such as rice or potato). 4. Increase Your Intake of Selenium and Zinc Selenium and zinc are two critical nutrients directly involved in thyroid function and metabolism. Selenium is an essential mineral that helps the body to recycle iodine. That’s the reason the thyroid has the highest selenium content (per gram of tissue) of all our organs. It’s thought that low selenium levels contribute to hypothyroidism through alternate mechanisms related to iodine. For this reason it’s fundamental to eat a diet that contains many selenium-rich foods, such as: Brazil nuts Tuna and sardines Beef and chicken Eggs Legumes Zinc is an essential mineral required to regulate TSH, which is a hormone from the brain that controls how much thyroid hormone your thyroid produces. In fact, the metabolism of zinc and thyroid hormones are closely interlinked, which is why a deficiency can lead to alopecia (hair loss). While zinc deficiency is very uncommon in the developed world, it’s still recommended to eat a variety of zinc-rich foods (8). This includes: Oysters and shellfish Beef and chicken Legumes, nuts and seeds Milk and yoghurt. Okay so I hope you found those 4 tips useful... In all honesty I've only JUST scratched the surafce here, there are certainly more steps to follow on after these ones. To find out more you can click the link in the description or on the youtube card where I've written about hypothyroidism and much more detail. Dietitian: Joe Leech (MSc Nutrition)

Best Time To Take Vitamins and Supplements

02:56
Do you know how to take your vitamins and supplements? Timing is everything when it comes to taking your vitamins and supplements, so we've put together a guide to help you maximize the powerful health benefits that come from taking them at the right time. Read more about this on our blog: http://blog.professionalsupplementcenter.com/the-best-time-to-take-nutritional-supplements/ Morning: -Probiotics - Probiotics are best taken in the morning on an empty stomach. • When the stomach is empty, digestive activity is quiet and stomach acid and pH balance are relatively low, increasing the chances for the helpful microorganisms to thrive. -Iron - Iron is best absorbed in the morning on an empty stomach. • Caffeine, dairy and calcium can negatively affect absorption, so it's best to avoid these for several hours after taking iron. -Multivitamins - Take multivitamins with your first meal. In the morning! • As multivitamins contain both water and fat soluble vitamins, be sure to include some healthy fats with your meal for optimal absorption. -B-Complex vitamins - Taking B vitamins with breakfast helps to boost your metabolism and convert your food into energy, which can be used throughout the day. -Vitamin C- Vitamin C is best taken in the morning to support the immune system and boost energy levels. • Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin that lasts only a few hours in the blood stream, so if your formula recommends more than 1 tablet per day, take it in divided doses with meals to get the full benefit. Noon: -CoQ10 - CoQ10 is best taken at lunch time with a meal that contains dietary fats. • Avoid taking CoQ10 late in the day so it doesn't disturb your sleep. -Vitamin D - Vitamin D is best taken with a meal that contains dietary fats. • It's possible that Vitamin D can negatively affect sleep, so lunch time is a good time to get your Vitamin D. -Iodine - Iodine is not stored in the body, so regular intake is needed. kelp tablets taken with lunch may boost midday energy levels. -Vitamin K - Vitamin K is best absorbed along with dietary fats and ideally should be taken during the middle of the day. • Avoid taking vitamin K if you are taking Coumadin or any anticoagulant prescription drug, as Vitamin K can interfere with the effects of the medication. Night: - Fish oil - Important to support many aspects of health, fish oil is best taken with a main meal like dinner to aid absorption. -Calcium - Calcium aids nerve transmission and muscle function. To get the full benefit, take calcium in the evening along with magnesium. -Magnesium - Magnesium has a calming effect on the muscles and nervous system and may aid restful sleep. • Magnesium works synergistically with calcium, so take these together either as individual supplements or in a combined formula. In addition: -Digestive Enzymes - Digestive enzymes can be taken with any meal or within 30 minutes of your meal. Unless you have serious digestive issues, they don't necessarily need to be taken with light meals or snacks, but can be very beneficial for optimal breakdown and absorption of nutrients when taken with main meals. -Fiber - Fiber supplements may be taken either first thing in the morning or before bed. Be sure to take fiber with a full glass of water and get plenty of water during the day. Fiber can delay or reduce the absorption of certain medications so always check with your healthcare provider before taking. How To Heal Low Thyroid : Hypothyroid Naturally - VitaLife Show Episode 282

04:23
How To Heal Your Low Thyroid : Hypothyroid Naturally - VitaLife Show Episode 282 In today’s episode Dr. Bowring shares with us how to heal your low thyroid. Conditions in the gut, autoimmune attack on the thyroid, stress, iodine deficiency and toxicity in our environment can be the cause of a hypothyroid. Low thyroid symptoms include low energy, fatigue, slow metabolism, feeling cold, dry skin, weight loss or gain issues and even hair loss. Natural treatment for low thyroid: Make sure you are getting enough selenium; a great natural source of selenium is Brazil Nuts. Eating just 2-3 Brazil Nuts a day will give you that whole food selenium to support your thyroid and the conversion of the thyroid hormone from T4 to your active T3. These hormones make sure that the body functions optimally. The selenium in the Brazil nut helps to decrease those anti-bodies that can happen in the thyroid, which is part of the autoimmune function, this is a problem when we are dealing with low thyroid symptoms. Cruciferous vegetables are another great natural treatment for low thyroid. Vegetables such as cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, and kale are considered cruciferous. It is a common misconception that these vegetables are goitrogenic, which means that they are known for trapping iodine, therefore not being good for the thyroid. Dr. Bowring does not agree with this information, as she has done research and looked at the opinions of top endocrinologists and the information provided shows that they do not agree that goitrogenic foods pose a problem. Dr. Bowring shares her opinion that these vegetables are fantastic for the thyroid in the right amounts, which provide important antioxidants, therefore trapping those free radicals that have a negative effect on the thyroid. Everything in moderation is key. Another great treatment for hypothyroidism is exercise! Whenever you increase your blood flow this allows the body to make sure the thyroid and metabolism is working. Dr. Bowring ’s last treatment for low thyroid is detoxification. The thyroid acts like a sieve for the toxins especially heavy metal toxins that are moving through our bodies, these toxins are due to our environmental exposure. Therefore, it is important to detox regularly to help treat hypothyroidism and many other conditions. At VitaTree we recommend to detox 4 times a year/once every season to prevent toxins from building up. Visit our VitaTree website for more information on the VitaTree VitaDetox supplement. Dr. Bowring has formulated a supplement specifically to support the thyroid, containing whole food ingredients including whole food iodine as a natural treatment for low thyroid. The Thyroid Support formula gives the thyroid the essential nutrients that it needs to function optimally. Lets get that thyroid going with all the helpful natural treatments for hypothyroid provided by Dr. Bowring! Join us next time here at the VitaLife Show for more great videos! Natural Remedies for Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s Disease

06:01
For more info on autoimmune diseases: https://draxe.com/autoimmune-disease-symptoms/ In today’s video I’m going to share with you the three steps to overcome hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s Disease. I’ll walk you through the top diet, supplements, and natural treatments to do so. Hypothyroidism is technically an autoimmune form of Hashimoto’s Disease, where your body is attacking itself and causing issues with the thyroid. What a lot of people don’t realize is that all disease begins in the gut. So, if you want to fix your thyroid, you need to heal your gut first. There’s a specific diet and specific supplements to take to heal leaky gut. Regarding your diet, going gluten free and grain free for a total of 90 days will improve hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s. Make sure when you do start consuming grains, you consume sprouted grains. Also add lots of organic vegetables, fruits, bone broth, and organic meats, which are all easy on your gut. You also want to include probiotic-rich foods in your diet like kefir. You want to avoid fast food, excess sugar, and gluten. This diet is similar to the GAPS diet. Secondly, you want to get specific supplements to improve your hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s disease. You want to consume selenium, ashwaghanda, and Vitamin B12. Additionally, making sure you’re detoxing your body, getting rid of silver fillings, and switching to natural cleaning and personal care products. If you want to overcome hypothyroid and Hashimoto’s disease, follow these steps and you will see great improvements! *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. How I lost 70 pounds with hypothyroidism Hashimoto's disease

07:59
Hello Everyone! I recently lost 70 lbs with thyroid disease. Many people told me that it wasn't possible, but I am here to tell you that it is! Here are a few tips.. 1. Get your thyroid levels checked. Are they optimal? If your meds aren't working, try something different. 2. Get your insulin levels checked. I had gestational diabetes, and high insulin levels after pregnancy. I had some success with metformin. Now that my weight is gone, my insulin levels have returned to normal. IF your levels are high, then you could be producing too much sugar, which will turn to fat. 3. Cut out a LOT of sugar. Try to eat natural foods. Think "paleo." 4. Pre-commit. Will power doesn't work. Weight loss works best when we pre commit by not having junk in the house. Get rid of the junk. 5. Get moving! Weight train. Muscles building increases metatbolism. Walk. Do whatever it takes. 6. Don't lose hope. Did you know that Jillian Michaels, the fitness trainer, has thyroid disease? If she can do it, so can we. Follow my channel for daily or weekly posts about weight loss. I still have 15 more pounds to lose before I reach my goal. WE can do this!!

Does the Ketogenic Diet Cause Hypothyroidism or Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

04:18
Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY or go here: https://www.drberg.com/how-to-do-ketosis Download Keto Essentials https://m.me/drericberg?ref=w2128577 Dr. Berg talks about the thyroid. In past videos he mentions that hypothyroid conditions are usually secondary to high estrogen or liver or gallbladder issues, since T4 (inactive thyroid hormone) converts to T3 (active thyroid hormone) in the liver - about 80% of it. The rest is converted by the kidney. If TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is high, this means the thyroid is low. If TSH is low, then this means the thyroid is high, making too many hormones. When people tell you keto and intermittent fasting worsens the thyroid, realize that it's not a worsening of thyroid, instead its the thyroid becoming more efficient and your body needing less thyroid hormones. Glyphosate from GMO foods acts as a toxin to cause a dysfunction to your detoxification systems of the body, esp. the liver. This then can trigger an immune condition (autoimmune) - Hashimotos. To avoid this condition, start doing organic foods. TEST GLYPHOSATE: https://detoxproject.org/testing/glyphosate-testing-test-yourself/ INTERESTING RESEARCH & DATA: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3945755/ http://www.naturalendocrinesolutions.com/articles/does-glyphosate-have-a-negative-effect-on-thyroid-health/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23046013 https://thyroidnation.com/glyphosate-ruining-your-gut-triggering-autoimmune/ https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/pesticide-use-thyroid-disease/ https://academic.oup.com/aje/article/171/4/455/157410 https://healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk/posts/135689340/hashimotos-study Hi guys, today we are going to talk about the thyroid. In the past videos I talked about the real underlying cause of thyroid, it is either too much estrogen because estrogen has affinity for the thyroid that blocks it coming from the ovary, the environment, being pregnant or the liver gallbladder. Let’s say the liver is dysfunctional or the gallbladder is not working and you can’t convert this hormones because T4 cannot convert to T3 unless the liver and the gallbladder is really healthy. But I want to give you the basics first, thyroid stimulating hormone is made by the pituitary gland in your brain and its sent down to the thyroid to basically tell the thyroid to make its hormones. If the thyroid stimulating hormone is high that means the thyroid is low, it is a hypo and it is not connecting because it can start increasing the communication to try to drive it through the same thing with insulin. When the insulin is high, it’s because the receptors are resisting it and it is not working so it raises it same thing with right here. When TSH is low usually it is a hyperthyroid that is making too much so it will turn this hormone down to zero. If it is high, it is hypo. If it is low, it is hyper. T4 and T3 represents the number of iodine molecules and that’s what the difference is and T4 is the inactive thyroid hormone and T3 is the active form but there has to be a conversion in here. To convert these hormones, you need selenium. To make hormones you need iodine and zine, these are trace minerals that you need. DR. Which Food is Good for Thyroid Health Diet and the Best Thyroid Support Supplement with Iodine

01:52
https://amzn.to/2rF9EMp There is food that is bad for your thyroid and food that is actually good for your thyroid If you want to know the diet to stimulate a sluggish thyroid to increased activity, then hear are some great suggestions; Cruciferous vegetables. Eat them raw, cooked or juiced. Plant foods with the richest source of cancer-preventing phytonutrients can boost thyroid function. Brazil nuts. These are the richest dietary source of selenium, which is essential in converting thyroxine to its active form, T3. Snack on three Brazil nuts per day. Sea vegetables. Sea vegetables are rich in iodine. Iodine attaches to tyrosine (an amino acid) to form thyroxine. If you have insufficient levels of iodine, it becomes a rate-limiting step in the production of thyroid hormones and you'll inhibit your thyroid function. Chlorophyll. Drink a shot of chlorophyll upon waking to help boost energy levels and remove heavy metals that may be inhibiting thyroid function. Maca. Helps to balance the hypothalamus and pituitary, which release TRH (thyroid-releasing hormone) and TSH respectively. These hormones regulate thyroxine levels. No gluten. If you have Hashimoto's, you must avoid gluten, because it can initiate thyroid antibody production. No soy protein isolate. While the research on fermented soy and thyroid function is mixed, soy protein isolate should be avoided. This means no junky soy foods like soy cheese, soy yogurt, energy bars with soy protein isolate, soy burgers and soy-based "meats." Eat clean and smart, manage your stress levels and avoid environmental toxins, and you'll have the ability to potentially reverse your thyroid condition. Also make sure to take the right supplements, Vital Vitamins have a great Thyroid Support Supplement with Iodine, Buy from Amazon through the Links below this video. https://amzn.to/2rF9EMp

How To Reduce High Blood Pressure Naturally | How To Prevent High Blood Pressure Naturally

03:44
How To Reduce Blood Pressure | How To Prevent Blood Pressure | How To Lower High Blood Pressure | Lifestyle | Diet Hey, guys! This weeks video is about high blood pressure and how you can prevent getting it with simple yet effective lifestyle changes. Healthcare professionals refer to high blood pressure as the silent killer and for a good reason! High blood pressure increases risks of many diseases and shortens your life significantly. WHAT IS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: Blood pressure is measured in millimetres of mercury (mmHg) and is given as two figures: Systolic pressure – The pressure when your heart pushes blood out. Diastolic pressure – The pressure when your heart rests between beats. As a general guide: High blood pressure is considered to be 140/90mmHg or higher (or an average of 135/85mmHg at home) Ideal blood pressure is considered to be between 90/60mmHg and 120/80mmHg Low blood pressure is considered to be 90/60mmHg or lower. A blood pressure reading between 120/80mmHg and 140/90mmHg could mean you're at risk of developing high blood pressure if you don't take steps to keep your blood pressure under control. HOW TO PREVENT HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: High blood pressure can often be prevented or reduced by eating healthily, maintaining a healthy weight, taking regular exercise, drinking alcohol in moderation and not smoking. SALT & DIET: Cut down on the amount of salt in your food and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. The NHS Eatwell Guide highlights the different types of food that make up our diet, and shows the proportions we should eat them in to have a well-balanced and healthy diet. Salt raises your blood pressure. The more salt you eat, the higher your blood pressure. Aim to eat less than 6g (0.2oz) of salt a day, which is about a teaspoonful. Eating a low-fat diet that includes lots of fibre – such as wholegrain rice, bread and pasta – and plenty of fruit and vegetables also helps lower blood pressure. Aim to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables every day. Eatwell guide link: https://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Goodfood/Pages/the-eatwell-guide.aspx ALCOHOL INTAKE: Regularly drinking alcohol above recommended limits can raise your blood pressure over time. Staying within these recommended levels is the best way to reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure: Men and women are advised not to regularly drink more than 14 units a week. Spread your drinking over three days or more if you drink as much as 14 units a week. Find out how many units are in your favourite drink and get tips on cutting down: https://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/alcohol/Pages/alcohol-units.aspx GET ACTIVE & LOSE WEIGHT: Being active and taking regular exercise lowers blood pressure by keeping your heart and blood vessels in good condition. Regular exercise can also help you lose weight, which will also help lower your blood pressure. Adults should do at least 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) of moderate-intensity aerobic activity such as cycling or fast walking every week. CUT DOWN CAFFEINE: Drinking more than four cups of coffee a day may increase your blood pressure. If you're a big fan of coffee, tea or other caffeine-rich drinks, such as cola and some energy drinks, consider cutting down. STOP SMOKING: Smoking doesn't directly cause high blood pressure, but it puts you at much higher risk of a heart attack and stroke. Smoking, like high blood pressure, will cause your arteries to narrow. If you smoke and have high blood pressure, your arteries will narrow much more quickly, and your risk of heart or lung disease in the future is dramatically increased. SLEEP: Long-term sleep deprivation is associated with a rise in blood pressure and an increased risk of hypertension. It's a good idea to try to get at least six hours of sleep a night if you can. Can thyroid grow back after Total Thyroidectomy? - Dr. Anantharaman Ramakrishnan

00:59
Many people ask can thyroid grow back after thyroidectomy, the answer is ye and no. If you do a partial thyroidectomy or a hemi thyroidectomy there could be compensatory hypo-trophy of the reveling gland or growth of the remnant thyroid a part of the thyroid gland which is remained behind. But if you are looking at total thyroidectomy if the thyroid gland has been entirely removed the chances of thyroid gland actually growing back are very less. So unless there is been error during the surgery unlikely there will be a recurrence in the thyroid gland growth.

SUBSCRIBE to Barcroft TV: http://bit.ly/Oc61Hj BROTHERS Tony ‘Hulk’ Geraldo and Alvaro ‘Conan’ Pereira, have both injected dangerous chemicals to make them look HUGE. As well as using extreme lengths to bulk up to a combined weight of 241kg, the brothers from Rio, Brazil, attend the same gym everyday and work out together for hours to improve their definition. Tony, 49, and Alvaro, 50, claim there was a time when they were ‘addicted to getting big’ but now believe they have it under control. Alvaro had been injecting his biceps and legs with a supplement - called Potenay B12 - on and off since he was 15 years old. Tony followed in his older brother’s footsteps. Taking their doctors advice, the brothers claim to have recently stopped injecting for health reasons and because their skin cannot stretch anymore.
