10 Bug Bites You Should Be Able to Identify

10:20
How to Identify Bug Bites and Avoid Health Problems. With so many different insects that transmit all kinds of nasty diseases through their bites and stings, it’s really important to be able to identify your attacker. It might seem hard to know what exactly bit you with so many possible options but you’ll be able to protect yourself and know how to avoid serious health issues if you follow some simple tips we’ve put together. Our guide will make you an insect expert so you’ll be able to identify bee, wasp, tick, flea, lice, bed bugs bites and others. TIMESTAMPS How to know a hornet stung you 1:01 How to identify a bee sting 1:50 How to find out if a wasp stung you 2:49 How to tell an ant bite from others 3:40 How to know it was a mosquito that bit you 4:35 How to tell if a tick bit you 5:35 How to identify a flea bite 6:27 How to identify a horse-fly bite 7:13 How to prevent lice bites 8:18 How to know bed bugs bit you 9:10 Music: Geographer - IDCIDK Rondo Brothers - Magnum https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -When hornets sense danger, they get super aggressive and sting harder than bees. The stung area becomes red and severely swollen. Sometimes blisters can even appear. -In case you or someone nearby has been stung by a bee, you need to act fast. Remove the stinger immediately if it’s broken off in your skin. The affected area gets red and swollen from the get-go. -The area stung by wasps becomes red and swollen, the victim feels pain and burning, and terrible itching ensues a bit later. You might even be left with a bruise. -Ants keep a grip on you in order to pierce your skin with his stinger, making it one of the few ant species that actually stings. Blisters appear on the stung spots that later turn into scars. -Mosquito bites look like swollen red spots about the size of a dime, and they usually appear on open areas of the body. Mosquitoes bite where the skin is really thin because it’s easier to get to the blood vessels. -Ticks can easily relocate between humans and their pets. Blood rises towards the upper layers of the skin around a tick bite, making the area appear reddish. -Flea bites are very painful, and the itch is even worse. Fleas usually attack the legs and prey solely on sleeping people. One insect can bite several times, so the red spots they inflict are usually from 0.5 to 1 inch apart. -Unlike the common housefly, horse-flies bite painfully and drink human blood. At first, a small red spot appears no more than a millimeter wide. Then it gets swollen and starts to itch. -If you notice small red dots that look like a rash on your scalp, the back of your neck, and behind your ears, that means you’ve got a case of head lice. Keep yourself and your house clean, and wash your clothes regularly to keep lice away. -Bed bug bites are very close to each other and look like little dotted roads on the skin. They are more painful than those from mosquitoes, and they’re mostly noticed in the morning since these bugs hunt at night. 7 Natural Remedies for Bee Stings

Learn more about natural remedies for bee stings on my website here: https://draxe.com/bee-sting-treatment/?utm_campaign=Live-May-2017&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=beesting If you know you are allergic to bee stings or have been stung multiple times, then you should not use a natural bee sting treatment. Bee sting home remedies are not meant for anyone who experiences severe reactions to a sting. Severe reactions may include difficulty breathing, throat tightness and other indications of a severe allergic response. However, for most people, bee stings are only an annoying and painful occurrence that can be treated without medical intervention. According to the University of California Integrated Pest Management Program, “Only a very limited portion of the population — one to two people out of 1,000 — is allergic or hypersensitive to bee or wasp stings.” The most common reaction to a sting from a bee involves some pain, swelling and itching only at the area where you were stung. In this episode of Ancient Medicine Today, I share 7 natural remedies for bee stings for quick relief of these pesky symptoms. Subscribe to my channel for more natural health remedies! Can A Bee Sting Harm A Dog? How To Identify An Allergic Reaction In Your Dog!

03:26
Can A Bee Sting Harm A Dog? How To Identify An Allergic Reaction In Your Dog! Having your pet evaluated by a veterinarian is never a wrong choice; if you feel your pet’s swelling and discomfort is significant, it’s always better to be safe than sorry, particularly when swelling in the head area is involved. Less common but more severe than local inflammation is a true anaphylactic reaction, and this is a medical emergency. Just as in people, some dogs are allergic to bee venom and can have a sudden and life threatening reaction to a sting. These usually happen shortly after the sting—within minutes. Pets may have vomiting and diarrhea, seem disoriented and weak, show difficulty breathing, or even collapse. Their gums turn pale as they lapse into shock. If your pet exhibits signs of shock, do not hesitate—head to the nearest animal ER. Oral Benadryl will not help in these severe cases. Pets in shock need an IV catheter, aggressive, fluid therapy, and injectable steroids and antihistamines. They may even require epinephrine. Shock can be reversed if addressed rapidly, but without treatment it is quickly fatal. Fortunately, these reactions are rare. Ouch, What Bit Me? How to Identify Common Bug Bites and What To Do About It

02:52
Everyone’s been bitten by insects like mosquitoes, ticks, and bees. Sometimes, knowing what kind of insect bit us can be helpful, to know how to lessen the pain, swelling, and itchiness. With that in mind, we’re going to show you five of the most common insect bites, their symptoms, and how they should be treated. 1.Mosquito bites Normally the area around the bite turns red and swells. They can also cause minor irritation and become itchy. To relieve the urge to itch, put a little lotion or alcohol on the bite and massage the area. However, if you feel pain in your joints, fever, swollen lymph nodes or other more severe symptoms, you should see a doctor immediately. If that happens, you might've been bitten by a mosquito that was carrying a dangerous poison. 2. Flea Bites Normally fleas leave three or four red dots on your skin. These little bumps can be really itchy, so the first thing you should do is apply calamine lotion or coconut oil to help with that. Avoid scratching these areas so as not to damage your skin. 3. Bed bug bites These little bugs are crafty and their bite can have different effects on different people. Some people, for example, can be bitten and not feel anything. Others, however, may suffer from an allergic reaction and experience swelling, itchiness and dermatitis. You can wash the affected area with soap and water, but you should still make it a point to see a doctor. 4. Spider bites Technically spiders are not bugs (they’re arachnids) , but we decided to include them because spider bites are very common. Most of the time, spider bites are harmless, but there are some exceptions, such as the black widow or the brown recluse, whose bites can have serious consequences. If a spider bites you, wash the area with soap and water. Next, apply ice. If the swelling continues, see a doctor immediately. 5. Tick bites Ticks are also not insects. Just like spiders, ticks are arachnids. They’re normally found on horses, dogs, and cats. They are so dangerous that their bite could cause serious diseases, such as Lyme disease. Tick bites leave a large red ring on your skin. First, you must remove the tick with a pair of tweezers. Don't put any oil on the affected area and keep it away from heat. All you need to do is wash your skin with soap and water. Then go see a doctor to make sure you don’t have any major diseases. INSECT ALLERGY Symptoms, Causes & Treatments

04:08
INSECT ALLERGY Symptoms, Causes & Treatments OVERVIEW Most people are not allergic to insect stings. Recognizing the difference between an allergic reaction and a normal reaction will reduce anxiety and prevent unnecessary medical expense. Thousands of people enter hospital emergency rooms or urgent care clinics every year suffering from insect stings. It has been estimated that potentially life-threatening allergic reactions occur in 0.4% – 0.8% of children and 3% of adults. At least 90 – 100 deaths per year result from insect sting anaphylaxis. The majority of insect stings in the United States come from wasps, yellow jackets, hornets and honeybees. The red or black imported fire ant now infests more than 260 million acres in the southern United States, where it has become a significant health hazard and may be the number one agent of insect stings. SYMPTOMS • Pain. • Redness. • Swelling (in area of sting and sometimes beyond). • Flushing. • Hives. • Itching. • Anaphylaxis (less common), a potentially life-threatening reaction that may impair breathing and can cause the body to go into shock. CAUSES The syndrome is a genetic condition, which means it’s inherited. The adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene mediates the production of APC protein. The APC protein regulates cell growth by preventing cells from dividing too fast or in a disorderly way. People with Gardner's syndrome have a defect in the APC gene. This leads to abnormal tissue growth. What causes the mutation of this gene has not been determined. TREATMENTS Avoiding contact with stinging insects is the key to successfully managing this allergy. These steps can help: • Insects are most likely to sting if their homes are disturbed, so have hives and nests around your home destroyed. Because this activity can be dangerous, you should hire a trained exterminator. • If you spot stinging insects, remain calm and quiet, and slowly move away. • Avoid brightly colored clothing and perfume when outdoors. Many stinging insects are searching for food and could confuse you with a flower. • Be careful outdoors when cooking, eating or drinking sweet beverages like soda or juice. Cover food and drinks to keep insects out. • Wear closed-toe shoes outdoors and avoid going barefoot to steer clear of stepping on a stinging insect. • Avoid loose-fitting garments that can trap insects between material and skin. If you have an anaphylactic reaction, inject epinephrine immediately and call 911. After a serious reaction to an insect sting, make an appointment with an allergist / immunologist. With proper testing, your allergist can diagnose your condition and determine the best form of treatment. Immunotherapy (allergy shots) may be effective long-term treatment for stinging insect allergy. Your allergist will give you shots containing small doses of your allergen, allowing your body to build a natural immunity to the trigger

Treating Bee, Wasp and Insect Stings

04:02
As children play outside more often during the summer, they can come into contact with stinging insects. A few children have severe reactions, such as difficulty in breathing and swelling all over the body. Your child's reaction to a bite or sting will depend on her sensitivity to the particular insect's venom. While most children have only mild reactions, those who are allergic to certain insect venoms can have severe symptoms that require emergency treatment.

How Allergies Work Animation. Understanding Allergic Reaction Immune System Video. Symptom Treatment

01:06
Allergens like pollen are nothing more than foreign plant antigens. The stimulus for sneezing gets triggered when allergens first enter the nasal tissue. Pollen allergens encounter the plasma cells in the nose, which respond by producing antibodies. These antibodies attach to mast cells, which are white blood cells containing the chemical histamine. As more antibodies are produced, they cause the mast cells to release histamine. Histamine then produces allergy symptoms. A stuffy and runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes help to remove the invading pollen. Medications called antihistamines may be used to help alleviate severe allergy symptoms. What Is an Allergy? It's what happens when your immune system reacts to something that’s usually harmless. Those triggers, which doctors call "allergens," can include pollen, mold, and animal dander, certain foods, or things that irritate your skin. Allergies are very common. At least 1 in 5 Americans has one. What Happens During an Allergic Reaction? It starts when you come into contact with a trigger that you inhale, swallow, or get on your skin. In response, your body starts to make a protein called IgE, which grabs onto the allergen. Then histamine and other chemicals get released into the blood. That causes the symptoms you notice. What Are the Symptoms? Your symptoms depend on how you’re exposed -- through the air, your skin, food, or through an insect sting. If you’ve got a nasal or skin allergy, common symptoms include: Itchy, watery eyes Sneezing Itchy, runny nose Rashes Feeling tired or ill Hives (a rash with raised red patches) Food allergies can also cause stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea. If an insect sting was the trigger, you’ll have swelling, redness, and pain where it stung you. Symptoms can range from mild to severe. Most go away shortly after the exposure stops. Mild ones may be almost unnoticeable. You might just feel a little “off.” Moderate symptoms can make you feel ill, as if you’ve got a cold or even the flu. Severe allergic reactions are extreme. Is It Anaphylaxis? The most severe allergic reaction is called anaphylaxis. It affects your whole body. Symptoms can include: Hives and itching all over Wheezing or shortness of breath Hoarseness or tightness in the throat Tingling in the hands, feet, lips, or scalp Anaphylaxis is life-threatening, so call 911 right away. If you have an epinephrine auto-injector, use it and repeat after 5 to 15 minutes if your symptoms haven’t improved. You’ll still need medical care right after you give yourself the shots, even if your symptoms seem to stop, because a delayed reaction could still happen. Allergies, also known as allergic diseases, are a number of conditions caused by hypersensitivity of the immune system to something in the environment that usually causes little or no problem in most people. These diseases include hay fever, food allergies, atopic dermatitis, allergic asthma, and anaphylaxis. Symptoms may include red eyes, an itchy rash, sneezing, a runny nose, shortness of breath, or swelling. Food intolerances and food poisoning are separate conditions. Common allergens include pollen and certain food. Metals and other substances may also cause problems. Food, insect stings, and medications are common causes of severe reactions. Their development is due to both genetic and environmental factors. The underlying mechanism involves immunoglobulin E antibodies (IgE), part of the body's immune system, binding to an allergen and then to a receptor on mast cells or basophils where it triggers the release of inflammatory chemicals such as histamine. Diagnosis is typically based on a person's medical history. Further testing of the skin or blood may be useful in certain cases. Positive tests, however, may not mean there is a significant allergy to the substance in question. Early exposure to potential allergens may be protective. Treatments for allergies include avoiding known allergens and the use of medications such as steroids and antihistamines. In severe reactions injectable adrenaline (epinephrine) is recommended. Allergen immunotherapy, which gradually exposes people to larger and larger amounts of allergen, is useful for some types of allergies such as hay fever and reactions to insect bites. Its use in food allergies is unclear. Allergies are common. In the developed world, about 20% of people are affected by allergic rhinitis, about 6% of people have at least one food allergy, and about 20% have atopic dermatitis at some point in time. Depending on the country about 1–18% of people have asthma. Anaphylaxis occurs in between 0.05–2% of people. Rates of many allergic diseases appear to be increasing. The word "allergy" was first used by Clemens von Pirquet in 1906.

Neutralization Reaction - How to treat a bee sting? | #aumsum #kids #education #science #learn

03:36
Topic: Neutralization Reaction How to treat a bee sting? Hey. Hold On. Don't go near that honeycomb. Please listen to me. It is quite dangerous. Fine. Go ahead. See, I told you. Ok. Now, don't worry. Put this baking soda solution on the bee stung area. You got some relief, right? Do you know why you got relief? This happened because a neutralization reaction took place when we applied baking soda on the stung area. The venom of a honey bee contains formic acid. When it stings us, it injects that acid into our skin. Formic acid causes immense pain and irritation. However, when we apply baking soda solution, which is a mild base, on the stung area, it neutralizes the formic acid and cancels its effect. As a result, the sensation of pain and irritation decreases and we get some relief. Such a reaction between an acid and a base is called neutralization. In neutralization, both acidic and basic solutions neutralize the effect of each other and the nature of both acids and bases gets destroyed. Hey, Wait. What are you doing? Don't tease that insect. It is not a honey bee. It looks similar to a honey bee but it is a bit longer. It is called a wasp. At least this time listen to me. Ok. Don't listen and bear the consequences. Applying the baking soda is not going to help. See, nothing is happening. I will tell you what to do. Pour this vinegar on the stung area, you will get some relief. Why do you think the baking soda solution did not help in this case? Earlier, in case of the honey bee, we learnt that its venom is acidic. Hence, baking soda, being a basic solution helped to neutralize the effect Now, in case of a wasp, the nature of its venom is basic. When it stings us, it injects that venom into our skin. This venom causes us pain and itching. Now, baking soda is also a basic solution. Hence, it will not provide any sort of relief. However, when we pour vinegar, which is a mild acid, on the stung area, the acid, that is, vinegar and the base, that is, the wasp's venom get neutralized. As a result, the sensation of pain and itching decreases and we feel better.

Be Safe from Anaphylaxis-Mayo Clinic

02:49
Every year up to two thousand people in the United States and Canada die from anaphylaxis -- a serious allergic reaction. The most common causes are allergies to peanuts, insect bites and seafood. But not all anaphylactic reactions are severe. They can be mild with subtler symptoms. And most people don't know that if you've had a mild reaction in the past, you're at risk of having a life threatening one in the future. More from Mayo Clinic on a new anaphylaxis awareness campaign.

Stung by a Scorpion - with Sting Closeup!

03:48
Please SUBSCRIBE NOW! http://bit.ly/BWchannel Watch MORE - http://bit.ly/BTAbite Coyote Peterson rarely gets nervous around the animals he encounters and is quite proud that he has never been stung by a scorpion before…but today that’s all about to change! On this episode Coyote is putting himself right in the strike zone and will intentionally take a sting from the Giant Desert Hairy Scorpion; the largest scorpion in North America! Yes that’s right, stung by a scorpion on purpose! While seemingly foolish and NEVER recommended, the intention of this demonstration will aim to make the point that not all scorpions should be vilified as lethal killers. While it is true that some scorpions are incredibly dangerous the venom from the Giant Desert Hairy is really nothing worse than a bee sting. However, that’s not to say it isn’t creepy and nail biting…hold onto your seat…this episode is intense! *The Scorpion used in this episode was found in the wild and was released without harm or injury. Which Scorpion STING is Worse?!

Please SUBSCRIBE - http://bit.ly/BWchannel Pre-Order Coyote’s Book - http://bit.ly/BOOKbraveadventures Watch More - http://bit.ly/BTfacesting On this episode of Breaking Trail, Coyote Peterson puts himself up against another “pain-sting index” challenge as he compares the sting from the Southwest’s largest scorpion, the Giant Desert Hairy, to the sting of Arizona’s smallest scorpion, the Stripe-Tailed. Being that the Desert Hairy is nearly 4 times the size of the Stripe-Tailed, most people assume it also carries the more painful sting. However in scorpions, size doesn’t necessarily matter when it comes to their venom’s potency. So which sting is ultimately the more painful of the two? Get ready to find out, because Coyote is about to get stung by both!
