What is an M&E plan? A monitoring and evaluation plan details the logical framework, indicators, tools that will be utilized when operationalizing the monitoring and evaluation system. During the planning exercise, it becomes very vital to have present an M&E plan that has been developed using participatory means. Programs that are bringing development to communities will find it easier when M&E interventions are documented for the smooth running of an organization. Periodic training is required for all programme personnel to also familiarize themselves with the Monitoring and evaluation framework. To learn more about M&E please subscribe to this channel; when a project commences, it is always necessary to conduct a baseline survey. By doing this survey a project manager will be best able to understand the baseline situation (or situation prior to project implementation). Community based interventions are usually long term in duration and to be best able to inform project management on the successes over a period of time, it is very necessary to conduct a baseline. Methodologies on conducting such surveys vary however, when proper approaches are employed then benchmarks can easily be set that can be used to measure progress over subsequent years. This video explains what a baseline is and highlights why this is important. CIPRE Director Matt Slaon discusses the advantages of the MEL approach. Several funding organizations focused on international development have fostered and adopted a “monitoring, evaluation, and learning” (MEL) approach, which focuses resources on comprehensively monitoring performance, selectively evaluating activities, and supporting continuous learning. While more traditional monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tends to focus on producing data for accountability, MEL engages key decision makers who are motivated to improve programs, applies the most appropriate and credible tools and methods for addressing their urgent questions, and intentionally seeks to incorporate learning into program delivery. The approach helps funders and stakeholders foster ongoing learning to support the effective implementation of programs.

To achieve the greatest possible impact, The Rockefeller Foundation engages in evidence-based philanthropy—measuring the progress of each initiative against specific goals and outcomes to ensure the strategy is delivering results. This approach requires deciding which metrics to track, and designing systems to accurately measure and report on desired improvements in poor or vulnerable people’s lives. More great content at http://www.authenticeducation.com.au/blog I regularly get asked by people in our community, "how do I put an action plan around a goal I want to achieve in my life?". The funny thing is, action plans are quite a simple thing to create. Step 1 - What do you actually want to create? You need to get clarity on your desired outcome by asking yourself this question. For example, you want to get your body fat down to 12% and look trim, tone and terrific. Step 2 - Create a timeline Get a piece of paper. On the left hand side write the letter A, on the right hand side write the letter B. Then simply draw a line from A to B. Now that you have this piece of paper with A on one side and B on the other, you are ready to start creating your timeline which will eventually become your action plan. Step 3 - Brain dump Brainstorm and write down every single action you think you might need to take in order to achieve your goal. In the 12% body fat example, this might be change my diet, go to the gym, do some sit-ups, drink more water, consult people I know who have an incredible physique that might want to share strategies on how to do that. Step 4 - Order the list Look down the list while looking for any things that are similar. This is to shorten the list down to the smallest number of actions you need to take to ensure you get your goal. Now you may be left with 6-8 steps. Step 5 - First essential step Ask yourself "what is the very first essential step that I need to take in order to move towards my outcome?". Once you know that first step, place it right next to the 'A' that you drew and that becomes the first step in your action plan. Ask yourself that question again. Place that answer next in the timeline. Pretty soon you have a full timeline going from A to B with every single step required in the correct order. Now you have an action plan. Action your action plan! The problem with action plans is you need to take actions to create one! So, if you haven't created an action plan before, my very first action for you is to create one now. I look forward to seeing you in action, achieving your dreams and living an inspired life. Until we meet again, share your life live your love and do whatever it takes to be your own best friend. I'll see you soon. Take some actions.

So, to make project management more interesting for you, I ran a project to demonstrate what steps to take and when. You won't regret spending 50 minutes to learn the basics of a wonderful practice called project management. You can also download all the templates I used in the session here (no need to register); https://thecareermastery.com/career-tips/project-management-simplified/ Although I strongly recommend you watch the entire session without skipping, for those of you who are just looking for snippets of information, you may find below the index of the video; 03:03 What is a project, program, and portfolio and how are they different from operations? 04:08 Project = Project Life Cycle + Project Management Process 04:43 Project Life Cycle 06:52 Process Groups 09:27 LIG, PMP certification or CAPM certification, which one is right for you? It definitely has a sexy tone to it right? Project… I just love the way it sounds. I wonder how cool it must sound in French. Proje… Well, project is a temporary endeavor to create a unique solution. Yeah that’s operations. No Well, the difference between a project and operations is fairly simple. A project ends. So, it’s temporary. You implement your project, you close it, you create a unique product/service/ or whatever outcome you wanted then you are done. Whereas in operations, it’s on-going and repetitive. You may have also heard about the terms program and portfolio. Let me just quickly explain them here. Program is multiple projects put together. Combined. And Portfolio is similarly. Multiple programs put together. So, it’s project, program, portfolio. Now before I go further, and dive deep. You need to understand something crucial. To run any project, you need 2 methodologies. The first one is a project life cycle and the second one is project management process. Most people confuse these 2. And if these are not clear, you can kiss the PMP certification goodbye. It’s absolutely amazing how many content creators in YouTube confuse these two. They are not interchangeable. You cannot afford to confuse a project life cycle with a project management process. Don’t worry I am going to make it very simple for you. Let’s start with Project Life Cycle. Project Life Cycle is unique to a project, to an industry, to your needs. It’s highly customizable. Think of it like this; a human development is a project. So, your life cycle is; 1) Conceiving 2) Birth 3) Childhood 4) Teenage hood. Teenage hood. Is that a word? Teenaging? 5) Adulthood 6) And death Easy stuff right? So, now if it was an IT project. I am not an IT but it would like something like this; High-level design Detailed Design Coding Testing Installation And Turnover This is project life cycle. The term cycle is a bit confusing here. I think. But who knows. This video covers; project management project management institute pmp project management professional certification project life cycle project management PMI managing a project project management fundamentals fundamentals of project management project management for beginners project management course
