Heat a deep skillet over medium-high heat with the olive oil. Add the onion and mushrooms and cook until the mushrooms begin to soften, 4-6 minutes. Then add the garlic, ginger and chili pepper and cook for another minute. 2. Add the crumbled tofu and sprinkle it with the paprika, cumin, turmeric, cayenne, salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the spices are fragrant and the tofu is hot throughout. 3. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the sliced kale and a 3-4 tablespoons water. Cover with a lid and steam until the kale softens, 4-6 minutes. 4. Stir in the nutritional yeast, check the seasonings, and add more salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another minute or two until heated through. 5. Scoop out a little flesh from the cooked sweet potatoes and serve the tofu scramble in the sweet potato boats. Top with avocado and salsa if desired. However, after receiving numerous requests from the pack, I decided to do a little sniffing around. And the results aren't exactly pretty... The Claim The Problem (Dishonesty) Dr. Hirsch claims there was a peer reviewed study supporting the claim that subjects lost over thirty pounds using Sensa (versus the control group that lost only 2 pounds). The claim is that this study was peer reviewed by the Endocrine Society. The Endocrine Society says they did not review the study. On ABC's 20/20 news they stated that, "they were surprised and troubled by the promotional nature of his presentation". In fact, none of the internal "studies" are confirmed by any respectable body. More Bad News... Customers simply don't appear to be happy. Please go through the comments below. It appears Sensa's free trial offer is kind of tricky. It is not only on this blog, but all over the web... Community doesn't lie. So aside from not losing weight, people are getting charged $89 not once, but twice before they are able to stop the billing. And getting a refund doesn't seem to be that easy. In short, it appears to be one of those over aggressive marketing organizations that I love so much. So What Can You Do to Curb Your Cravings and Lose Weight? I started off with one a day, but now I try to do 2 cups of this per day. It has helped with my energy levels, indigestion, bloating, my sinus drip problems. For tons of meal prep ideas, join V Shred University for a discount here - http://vshred.fit/MealPrep Meal prepping is the single most important aspect for any fitness goal.. whether you're trying to lose weight, build muscle or maybe do both.. you HAVE to meal prep. So in this video, I take you through the basic steps to follow if you're confused exactly how to go about it. Step 1: Get your foods. I typically stick to a list of very basic foods because I don't need variety in my meals. As long as it's ready, I eat it. But you want to make sure you have all three macronutrients included. Healthy fats, simple and complex carbs, and protein. Step 2: Get your appliances. The best thing to remember here is the bigger the better. If you're cooking multiple meals for multiple days, obviously you'll be cooking in volume. So a large pan for the meat, a large pot for the rice and large trays for the potatoes is highly recommended. Also, when getting out your appliances, this is when you should take the time to start heating up your oven. If you're cooking potatoes, turn it to 425 degrees and then move on to preparing the food to cook. Step 3: Prep your potatoes. When meal prepping, to be as efficient as possible, you want to start with whatever is going to take the longest. In this case, it will be the potatoes. They typically take 40-60 minutes in the oven so they will usually be what you should start with. A tip for cooking potatoes is you want to be avoid them getting stuck to your cooking tray. You can lather the potatoes in olive oil or you can simply spray your tray with some kind of non-stick spray. Step 4: Prep your proteins. After potatoes, your protein will typically take the next longest to prepare. Usually, I only cook chicken because I don't care too much about variety.. (I'm not picky).. but I do like making my chicken taste good. So I would recommend, first, cleaning the chicken off with water. Then sprinkle some type of seasoning on the chicken and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes so it can absorb the flavor. Then melt down your cooking oil, I use coconut oil, in your cooking pan.. turn it to medium heat and once the pan is hot. Lay the chicken out on the pan and begin cooking it. Tip: you should hear an immediate sizzle when laying the chicken on the pan, otherwise it's not hot enough. Then every 5 or so minutes, flip the chicken to ensure you cook each side evenly. Step 6: Prep your rice. Rice will take the least amount of time to prepare, hence why we're doing it last. All this takes is about 1.5 cups of water for every cup of rice that you plan to cook. Put the water in the pot, add a table spoon of olive oil and a pinch of salt for taste (optional), put the pot on the burner and bring to a boil. After the water is boiling, turn the heat to "Low", pour the rice in and stir once. Then cover the pot with your lid and set a timer for 15 minutes. Step 7: Get your containers ready. While the food finishes up (keep flipping your chicken, checking your potatoes, checking your rice, and also cutting up your avocados), get your storage containers out and a food scale if you have one (highly recommended). Once all food is done, measure it out to the portion sizes that fit your current diet, put it in the fridge and wallah! Food is prepped! Sprinkle the chopped apple over the four muffins. Bake at 350 degrees for approx 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. I usually quadruple this and make 16 muffins. I take four baggies and put four muffins in each one. I keep them all in the freezer and take them out the night before I plan to eat them. Meal 6: Melting Cake 1 scoop Chocolate Brownie IdealLean Protein 1/4t baking powder 1t cocoa 2-3 packets splenda 1-2T water 16g (1T) peanut butter Mix all ingredients but peanut butter in a small bowl until it’s brownie batter consistency. Weight is the unwanted baggage being carried around by too many people. This is mainly due to lack of exercise and unhealthy food options being adopted as a result of our on-the-go life styles. Not only does the aesthetic aspect impact mental health, but manifestations on physical health in the form of hypertension and diabetes lead to far more serious issues. Take a glass of tepid water. Add 1 tlbsp of lime juice to it. Now, add 1 tsp of honey and mix well. Add in a pinch of pepper powder. Have this on an empty stomach at the start of the day, before 7:30 for maximum benefit. Otherwise too, a lick of honey anytime is good; it helps to metabolize the fat already sitting in your body. In a pan, boil about 1 L of water. Add in ¼ tsp of coriander, cumin and fennel seeds. Cover with a lid, and let it boil for about 5 minutes. Now let it cool, then strain the liquid. Keep it in a flask, and have sips of this detox solution through the day. Remember to make it fresh every morning. Ensure you have the maximum calories of the day at lunch, with all the otherwise difficult to digest foods like carbs and sweets. Make sure you include a bowl of cabbage at lunch, cooked or raw. Believe it, this really works wonders. Put ¼ cup of yoghurt in a blender. Add ½ cup of water. Now mix in sugar to taste. Blend well. Now add in ½ cup water more. Make sure the water is at room temperature. Have this with lunch every day to enable good digestion. Make your own fat-fighting spice powder. Put the following in a blender: 6 cloves 1 bay leaf 1/12-2 inch stick of cinnamon 1-1/4 tsp of fennel seeds 1 tsp fenugreek seeds 5 tsp coriander seeds ½ tsp of mustard seeds Grind finely in a blender. Add in 1-1/2 to 2 tsp of turmeric powder. Store this in a dry place, and sprinkle over any meal. Ensure you are done with dinner by 8 p.m. , which should be the lightest meal of the day, and remember, carbs at night do you no good, as your digestive system needs a rest. Hey everyone! I'm so excited to share some of my favorite low carb recipes with you today. My weigh loss struggle isn't something that I ever really talk about, but today I'm changing that. I lost 65lbs a few years ago doing a low carb diet and recipes like these have helped me to keep it off. I'm making Low Carb Quiche, Roasted Red Pepper Bisque, Stuffed Peppers, Low Carb Green Juice and Broccoli Slaw! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Let's motivate each other in the new year! ::Recipes:: Breakfast or Lunch Low-Carb Quiche 1 cup Frozen spinach Half of a white onion (chopped) 1 full pack of bacon (cooked, chopped) 1.5 cups of shredded Mexican blend cheese 1 tbs of chopped garlic 6 Large Eggs 1 Small carton of egg whites. 2 tbs Cream cheese Salt & pepper to taste Cook bacon until golden brown (not too crispy) then remove from skillet. Caramelize onions in remaining bacon drippings with chopped garlic. Place frozen spinach in microwave for 1 to 2 minutes then add to pan and mix all ingredients together over medium heat. Add spinach chopped bacon, garlic, caramelized onions and half cup of cheese to a bowl and continue mixing together. Spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and line with 1/4 cup of shredded cheese. Add onion spinach and bacon mixture to cheese lined baking dish. In a blender, add all six eggs and one full container of egg whites. Sprinkle fresh ground pepper and salt and add in 2 tablespoons of cream cheese. Blend until smooth. Pour egg mixture carefully on top of spinach and onion in baking dish. Place dish in oven for 20 to 30 minutes at 350°. To see if quiche is fully cooked place a fork in the center, if it comes out smooth it's ready, if it comes out with liquid cook it for a little longer but keep your eye on it. Lunch or Dinner Side Roasted Red Pepper Bisque Eight medium sweet red peppers one large onion chopped 2 tablespoons butter 3 cups chicken broth divided 2 cups half-and-half cream half tape teaspoon salt half teaspoon white pepper 6 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese (garnish) Broil peppers 4 inches from the heat until skins blister, about five minutes with tongs rotate peppers a quarter turn. Broil and rotate until all sides are blistered and blackened. Immediately please peppers in a large bowl, cover and let stand for 15 to 20 minutes. Peel off and discard charred skin. Remove stems and seeds, set peppers aside. In a large sauce pan, sauté onion in butter until tender, cool slightly. In a blender, combine the onion mixture, 2 cups broth and roasted peppers, cover and process until smooth. Return to the pan. Stir in cream and remaining broth heat through (do not boil). Stir in salt and pepper. Sprinkle each serving with 1 tablespoon cheese. Dinner Ground Turkey Stuffed Bell Pepper (or Taco) 1 pound ground turkey One pack of chopped onion and bell pepper medley (in frozen vegetable isle) One pack of "Old El Paso" taco seasoning Mission Brand Low-Carb tortillas Three bell peppers 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese Cilantro (garnish) Avocado (garnish) Sour cream (optional) Cauliflower chopped fine (optional) Cut bell peppers in half and remove all seeds and stems. Place in oven for 10 to 20 minutes (until soft). In a skillet caramelize chopped onions and bell peppers (add cauliflower if desired). Add in ground turkey and cook until golden brown. Add taco seasoning to skillet and 1/4 cup of water. Mix all ingredients together until it's evenly distributed. Add half a cup of shredded cheese to skillet. Fill peppers (or soft taco) with ground turkey and vegetable mixture. Garnish with a sprinkle of shredded cheese, cilantro, hot sauce, sour cream and/or avocado.
