Pfeifer Insurance Brokers http://www.pfeiferinsurance.com 650-762-8087 533 Airport Blvd Ste 400 Burlingame, CA 94010. How to buy cheap health insurance in California using CoveredCA.com. Find out if you qualify for premium assistance and set yourself up with an affordable policy. https://youtu.be/Fe8VBMlRplw http://www.yelp.com/biz/pfeifer-insurance-brokers-burlingame http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ2JufO9yOg&feature=youtu.be My Name is Alex Pfeifer. I'm the owner of Pfeifer Insurance Brokers located in Burlingame California. Today I'm going to talk to you about Covered California, AKA ObamaCare, AKA the Affordable Care Act. By the end of this video you will know who this Act benefits, how to apply for a policy under the insurance exchange, and best of all I'm going to show you an example of a 30 year old who lives in San Francisco, earns $25,000 per year and qualifies for a health policy that is under $20 per month. The Affordable Care Act made three major changes to the Health Care Industry. One, Health policies have been standardized; making it much easier to make an apples to apples comparison across the different insurance companies. Two: Health is no longer a factor in determining your premium or eligibility. It no longer makes a difference if you have cancer, a tumor, are obese or you smoke. It looks like you caught a break. The only factors for determining your premium are your age and your zip code. Three: There is premium assistance for individuals making less than $48,000 per year. The premium assistance can really add up and drive down the premium you actually have to pay. This is covered.com the official homepage for Covered California. I want to show you a couple of helpful links. Let's go to the shop and compare tool and then click on Health Insurance Benefits. The Affordable Care Act set up four standard policies. The Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Plans. All of the companies that participate in the Exchange have to offer these four policies. The Bronze policy will have the lowest monthly premium, but it will also have the highest deductible and the highest copay. Now let's take a look at who's eligible for premium assistance. The income guidelines page shows that if you are an individual earning less than $48,960 per year you may be eligible for premium assistance. The less you earn the more premium assistance you may be eligible for. Now I would like to show you the fun part where we run a quote and I can show you how inexpensive a policy can be. Let's take a look at an individual who is 30 years old, lives in San Francisco and earns $25,000 per year. And that's enough to get us started with a quote. Click on See My Options. We get a pop up window that shows the metallic tiers. Here we can see the policies that are available to his person. And Wow! Look at that. CCHP is offering a policy for just $18 per month for the bronze policy. If you want a bronze policy but not the CCHP HMO policy you can see different options to the right. Scroll down and you can see the Silver plans. If you go to the next page you can see the Gold and Platinum plans. Click on a plan you are interested in. Note that there is $190 in premium assistance available to this person. You can see under the Platinum plan there is no deductible and the copays are very low. If you are interest in applying for a plan go back to the home page and click apply. If you need help, click of the request enrollment assistance button or contact a Covered California agent like myself. Covered California is good place to shop for your insurance needs. If you are eligible for premium assistance you will want to buy your policy through Covered California. If you are not eligible for Premium Assistance you can purchase your policy directly from the Insurance Company's website. I hope you enjoyed the video today. If you did give it a thumbs up. If you really liked it, share it with your friends and family. See you next time.

Visit USC on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/USC/ Learn more about the University of Southern California: https://www.usc.edu The USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics hosted a conference Oct. 22, 2010, titled, "Health Reform and the Economy: Are They Good for Each Other?" Conference panels examined critical reform issues related to reducing costs, improving quality, ensuring innovation and changing health care delivery. The assembly of renowned speakers from government, academia and industry presented different views -- some were concerned that health reform will not control costs, while others believed that incentives in the new health law for more robust information technology and provider payment reform will begin to bend the cost curve. In the panel titled "The New Normal: How Will the Market Respond?" panelists David Cutler, David Knott (presentation: "Health Care Reform: What's Next for Health Plans?") and Leonard Schaeffer examined the potential for the new health reform law to control costs and the consequences for the economy, health care's stakeholders and the nation's security. Key points included the potential for some employers and providers to try to eliminate the role of insurers; the opportunity for effective cost-saving methodologies, such as ACOS and payment reform, to be implemented; and the concern that if costs are not controlled, the nation may face a fiscal crisis and threat to national security. On December 17, 2007, a news conference with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and others was held after the California State Assembly passed a "universal" health insurance plan modeled after the Massachusetts plan. The plan was based on an individual mandate to have insurance, an employer play-or-pay system, and a variety of taxes and subsidies. The taxes could not be passed by the legislature because under Proposition 13, state tax increases require a 2/3 vote. With all legislative Republicans opposed, the Democratic majority (and the Republican Governor) could not pass the tax component. The tax component was thus to be put on the November 2008 ballot. This clip is an edited-down version of the news conference. Part 1 consists of edited remarks by the governor and Assembly speaker. Part 2 consists of remarks by the president of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Andy Stern, and CEO chairman Steve Burd. It is notable that both worked together on the health insurance matter since unions previously regarded Burd as the villain in the Southern California supermarket strike of 2003 - fought partly over the issue of health insurance. Finally, Part 3 consists of remarks by Fresno Mayor Alan Autry, a Republican who is bucking his part on this issue (along with the Governor). Despite the mood of celebration at this meeting, in January 2008, a California Senate committee rejected the bill with all Republicans and all but one Democrat opposed. Fears about potential costs of the plan were raised as well as general concerns about the deterioration of the California state budget. That action killed the bill. This is Part 1 of 3 parts on the December 2007 event.

The lengthy 2003 Southern California supermarket strike attracted substantial attention, in part because of the health insurance issue. Employers pushed for a two-tier wage and benefit plan including limited health care for new hires. The local unions in Southern California of the United Food and Commercial Workers had not had a strike for many years and seemed uncoordinated. The Teamsters - under a separate contract - for a time honored UFCW picket lines but eventually returned to work. There was considerable public support for the strike and business was diverted to nonunion stores and stores that were not part of the strike. Litigation arose due to a mutual assistance pact among the 3 supermarket chains involved and due to use of some returning strikers under false Social Security numbers. Eventually, the union accepted the 2-tier deal. During the next round of negotiations in 2007, the two-tier element was largely removed. Here are 4 news clips during the strike/lockout.

It was acknowledged that technology is a major cost driver but also that higher prices support innovation that benefits future patients. In addition, opportunities remain because of unmet need, an aging population, the fact that innovation is valued and global markets. http://todaysbestfind.com/why-compare-california-affordable-individual-health-insurance-quotes/ Why compare California individual health insurance quotes online? Everyone wants affordable health insurance, but many consumers choose their health care programs based on costs instead of the benefits provided; this is one of the reasons why many are filing bankrupcty due to over extended medical bills! Before choosing your next medical health insurance plan, make sure to focus on the benefits, in addition to the costs. You may also want to consider answering the following questions: a) Does your plan offer assistance in paying for your high deductible and co-insurance costs? b) Are you choosing a plan primarily based on the costs? c) If you were involved in a medical emergency, do you have the reserves available to pay the deductible and co-insurance costs? Creating Healthier Communities, Together Providence Health & Services is growing and evolving in Southern California, guided by a new strategic plan to help expand our healing ministry and our Mission of outreach to those most in need in our communities. From the school playgrounds of lower-income South Bay and Westside communities to Valley clinics that treat the poorest of the poor, our people of Providence are creating healthier communities, together, by providing improved access to affordable health care. The five pillars of our plan include a renewed dedication to inspiring our caregivers in the spirit and tradition of our founders, the Sisters of Providence and the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary. Each of us has the ability to enhance care for our most vulnerable patients and for those whom we serve through our vast community benefits programs. Because of our focus on Mission, we are helping patients with diabetes manage their disease and live better, healthier lives. We are encouraging children in communities of few resources to get out and play, to exercise and to challenge themselves. We are improving the health of communities by reaching out to immigrants with little access to care to treat illnesses and potentially stop their spread. Our caregivers are embracing the most vulnerable – the mentally ill who suffer in silent agony – and partnering with experts in the field to ease their way. In our stories, you will see examples of how we are working together to meet these needs and keep people healthy. Health care reform has proven challenging, but it’s also opened our eyes to the need to improve access to quality health care, whether it’s within our medical centers, our clinics or through these outreach programs, inspired by our 156-year tradition. Providence Southern California is advancing forward, creating a strong health care network across the Los Angeles Area. It is essential to our Mission that we continue to thrive as an organization, and through good stewardship, expand our efforts to care for the poor and vulnerable in our neighborhoods.

Hint: single-payer won’t fix America’s health care spending. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Americans don't drive up the price by consuming more health care. They don't visit the doctor more than other developed countries: http://international.commonwealthfund.org/stats/annual_physician_visits/ But the price we pay for that visit - for a procedure - it costs way more: http://static1.squarespace.com/static/518a3cfee4b0a77d03a62c98/t/57d3ca9529687f1a257e9e26/1473497751062/2015+Comparative+Price+Report+09.09.16.pdf The price you pay for the same procedure, at the same hospital, may vary enormously depending on what kind of health insurance you have in the US. That's because of bargaining power. Government programs, like Medicare and Medicaid, can ask for a lower price from health service providers because they have the numbers: the hospital has to comply or else risk losing the business of millions of Americans. There are dozens of private health insurance providers in the United States and they each need to bargain for prices with hospitals and doctors. The numbers of people private insurances represent are much less than the government programs. That means a higher price when you go to the doctor or fill a prescription. Uninsured individuals have the least bargaining power. Without any insurance, you will pay the highest price.
