... Amazing video of gas powered RC aircraft being shot down with massive machine gun fire! It all happened at the October, 2010 Big Sandy MG Shoot near Wikieup, Arizona. The weather started out iffy but turned into a blessing as there where no fires due to the earlier rains. We managed to run through 1500 reactive targets and 38 planes. The airplanes didn't stand a chance as everyone's Triple A capabilities were awesome. I do not remember any of the airplanes making it through more than 6 passes with most of them getting shot down in 2 or 3. The night flying was real cool to watch and presented a problem for our pilot to see his plane as most of the tracer fire was green and the lights on the planes were green.. We figured there where 200 rds a second going up at the planes when they presented themselves. The sky was filled with the tracers!

This was a really fun match. Almost all of the stages presented balanced options that got everyone on the squad talking and discussing the best plan. That is the hallmark of good stage design. Mark Sue, Ryan Goold and the rest of the volunteer ROs did a great job. The Holosun 510c and the Tevosports mount worked like a champ, and the dot was surprisingly bright despite the sunny sandy range. This looks like a keeper for me as I've mentally committed to it. Will publish a full review sometime in the future.

Mobile Pistol Shooters Association USPSA match on Feb 4, 2017. I had a very frustrating match on Saturday. I don’t know why, but I couldn’t get my head straight. I had some trouble executing my stage plans, but my biggest issue was the lack of visual patience and just letting the gun get away from me. I had 8 Mikes during the match, which is extremely unusual for me, and a lot of them were on close, open targets. Stage 1 – Weird start position. Facing up range with gun unloaded and holstered and my stage plan required up range movement at the buzzer, which means that I had to wait to get into position, then turn downrange to draw the gun. I had a Mike (barrel hit) on the really tight shot on the left side array, then I pulled another Mike on the second shot after the reload. Watching the POV video, you can clearly see me pull the second shot low on the bottom target. I’ve been working on shooting on the move, and I did that pretty well on this stage. Getting around the front of the stage was trickier than it looks. I saw someone get hung up on 2 different walls trying to move from left to right. Stage 2 – Simple stage, I just didn’t execute my stage plan. I seemed to have trouble remembering that the paper targets required 2 shots instead of 1. I didn’t shoot the array from the middle box like I had planned, so that cost some time. I pulled the second shot on the second target from the last position low and left. Just a whiff on an open target caused by not seeing the dot. Stage 3 – Stage win and no big errors. Stage 4 – Not a bad stage. I had a good makeup on the first target after I pulled one low into hard cover. I shot well on the move, but then forgot a target momentarily before the reload. Stage 5 – I designed this stage, started on it, and was the first shooter. I blame cold hands for the fumbled load at the start. One of my Mikes was in hard cover on the tuxedo target on the right. I think the other Mike was in hard cover as well. No reason for missing the mini popper on the left, except for rushing. Classifier CM 99-23 “Front Sight” – I shot this same classifier the previous weekend, so I knew where I was lacking. Like last weekend, my first string was good (and .20s faster this time). I was too deliberate on my second string before, so I made the mistake of trying to push this time, and pulled 3 Mikes. No excuse. I know better. I didn’t see the dot on target for 3 of the first 4 shots, but I pulled the trigger anyway. I’m not shooting a match this coming weekend, so I plan to work on my visualization and do a lot of match mode practice over the next 2 weeks.

The Level III Oil County Challenge was also the Norwegian Nationals for the IPSC Production Division in 2016. This match is held just outside of Stavanger on the beautiful Norwegian west coast on a shooting range with nice facilities and an overall good organization. I came in at 71.85% of the winner which I feel really good about, considering this is my second season as an IPSC competitor. This was also my second Level III for this season where I have only been able to attend in two indoor Level II's in the indoor season. My focus was on executing each stage correctly and optimally and not necessarily as fast as possible. I've had a tendency to shoot too fast with too many C's, D's and M's which I then have had to use additional rounds to make up for, so one concrete action was to slow down and minimize the need for additional rounds. I almost managed this, but on both stage 2 and 8 I shot three rounds at some targets which were unnecessary and can clearly see some other fumbling at various stages. With 4 Mikes in total, no NS or P and a 71.5% A-percentage I still felt that this plan worked though, I also think it helped that no stage was really tricky - even though I ran a few steps on the wrong side of the fence on stage 11. My best stages was number 1 and 10 where I was at around 85% of the stage winner. I'm still too slow at shooting with enough precision and to transition from target to target to challenge the elite on short stages, but on most medium and long stages I have the capacity to be competitive which feels encouraging. I started my first day on stage 3, but the video is starting from stage 1 to give consistency to the result lists. Stage 9 and 16 was removed after the pre-match so I did not get to do these.

So this is my first time ever shooting multigun. It's a blast to shoot three different kinds of guns on the clock. The stress of remembering to make my guns safe and the extensive plan is a lot higher than the traditional USPSA matches I've shot. I'm sure if you do it often you'll get used to it just like anything. My Contour didn't work very well today so I managed to get only two stages but you can see the massive failures at loading my guns, especially the shotgun. I only had like 15mins of practice a few months ago. I can see why it's so interesting for the multi gunners but I think I'll stick to my Open pistol for now. It's a lot of work bringing three different sets of gear and ammo to a match. Thanks to everyone who setup the match at Marysville Rifle Club.

The training was good on Sunday October 16th. The lesson plan for October was firearm malfunctions. In the Classroom on october 13th, Carrie went through the mechanics of firearm malfunctions. on Sunday, they were put to practical practice. The instructors placed snap caps randomly in the live fire magazines. When the shooter encountered a misfire, they had to clear and re-shoot. My part here was to demonstrate a squib fire. I loaded a couple rounds with primers and bullets, but no Powder. The primers went off, but, I did not get the desired effect, but they did jam up the pistols quite nicely ! Remember... Pop and Stop!!!! til next time, Shoot like you mean it !

The estate is selective about what it shoots, and we're after a cull stag to take out of the herd. There's more of a challenge than just quarry selection, though: with the wind increasing in speed, even getting close is going to be tough. We've even got some forestry selected as a back-up plan in case stalking on the hill proves just too tough. And we're back with our Irish duo of Stephen and Jason, who give us a taste of how lamping foxes takes place over the Irish sea. With a full night's foxing ahead of us, we're hopeful of plenty of action.

Kevin shooting his Colt M-16 Full Auto rifle suppressed with a Silencerco Saker 5.56 suppressor at the moving target stage of the Utah State Sniper Shoot. Owning a full-auto firearm is 100% legal with the proper paperwork. The real deterant is the price. Today an M-16 will run you $16-25K. Once you purchase it you must complete the proper forms, fingersprints, interview with the head law enforcement officer in your area, typically your Sheriff and submit your paperwork and $200 to the BATF. Wait time is from 6 months to 1 year. During that time the firearm will remain with your dealer until your paperwork clears and you are issued your $200 tax stamp for the firearm. Unlike suppressors any select fire or full auto weapon I believe must stay within a certain area. If you plan to travel out of that area you must notify your chief law enforcement officer first. This particular firearm would require three tax stamps to own. One for being full-auto, one for the suppressor and one because it is a SBR short barreled rifle. Each requires the same wait time and $200 tax stamp. Timestamps: 0:00 - photos 0:25 - Offhand 13:37 - Sitting Rapid Fire 17:25 - 300yd result 17:30 - target Pit duty (crack/whump) The plan was to take the cheap-scoped AR15 to a full size match (and expected quarter-value 25mph wind) with a midweight bullet, 100yd zero, SWAG'd comeups, and use 6:00 holds and the duplex for holdover. I humped my gear from the parking lot to the 600yd line where the 4-man team match was still going. The e-targets crapped out, so a ceasefire was called and the 600yd scores were nixed. I then humped down to the 200yd in anticipation of firing point squadding. During the lunch break before the EIC match, CMP and some shooter volunteers (including me) pulled the e-targets and put up the paper targets. With a ~1pm start time, a full match wasn't possible, so only the 200 and 300yd portions were fired. It was certainly a day for "hard holders". It's been a while since I've had to pull in tight during Offhand to dampen the motion ala Bullseye Pistol. I think only one person beat me, and only by one point. 93/100. I didn't get to dryfire upon arrival, so my sling was set to "close enough". This was a little too tight in Sitting. I have enough difficulty relaxing as it is, but this added more exertion, and combined with not eating/drinking well, my abs cramped up. I massaged it, but it was still pulsing and hurting during the string of fire. The 2-3 obviously yanked shots were obvious, but the rest were respectable. 94/100. At 300yd, the flags were wandering 1:00 to 12:00, occasionally 11:00, but I could feel the wind slightly from the left. My instinct was 1 MOA left, but I ignored it. Dagnabbit. Even worse is I had a rookie scoring me (borrowing my spotting scope), who looked at the wrong target and I didn't notice. 92/100 instead of a 94 or 95. I ended up 4th overall, 5 points behind 1st. 2 points behind 2nd. Doh! Music: Waloyo Yamoni - Christopher Tin

Quick video of my runs on 3 of the 4 stages at the Weld County 3 Gun shoot yesterday, 23 April 2016 The new rifle is running well, as is the Stoeger and the VP9 I ran reasonably well, 16th overall and 6th in my division. Some of the sponsored shooters beat me, but I beat a few of them as well. Need to work on fundamentals, and work on walkthroughs and stage prep--on that first stage, I definitely could've shaved some time loading fewer shells in the shotgun--I think I had six or seven in the gun afterwards, six or seven I didn't have to burn time loading. The last stage was kind of a pinball stage with all three guns, but watching the tape I feel like a better plan would have let me plan exactly where I needed to position myself, especially with rifle, to hit both sides from one spot, without having to adjust/reposition. Lessons learned though!

Palm Springs gun control plan draws protesters About a dozen Palm Springs gun owners and activists gathered outside Palm Springs City Hall Wednesday, holding homemade signs and speaking out against an item buried at the end of a city council agenda. The impetus for the protest was a discussion item the Palm Springs City Council planned to discuss Wednesday evening, about potentially tightening city gun control measures. Bob Richmond, former Riverside County Republican Party chairman, said he believed the ordinance would infringe on his Second Amendment rights. “One of them is to go ahead and tell me that I have to, the government is telling me I have to keep my guns that are in the privacy of my home locked up in a lock box unless I have them in my possession,” Richmond said. “I see that as an overreach of government.” http://www.desertsun.com/story/news/local/palm-springs/2016/07/06/gun-owners-activists-protest-outside-palm-springs-city-hall/86782530/ Banning Gun Sales to People on No-Fly List May Not Be Constitutional, Experts Say Constitutional experts cite ongoing problems with no-fly list criteria On Thursday, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy announced plans to issue an executive order barring anyone listed on federal terrorist watch lists from purchasing a gun in the state. But while the idea of “no fly, no gun” has found growing support following the mass shooting in San Bernardino last week, including that of President Obama, experts say such a policy may be unconstitutional. The problem lies with the terrorist watch lists themselves, which are both secret and routinely updated without the typical due process given to those who are accused of breaking the law, such as court proceedings. Without a trial, the government can add anyone to watch lists who it believes may be a threat to national security—and exactly how the government defines such a threat isn’t even public knowledge. http://time.com/4146025/guns-no-fly-list-constitution/ Wideners Reloading and Shooting Supplies Deep Appalachian Roots Widener's has roots that run deep - in fact, the company goes way back into the late 1970's. The Digital Age Wideners.com got its start in 1996 when the company opened up shop on the world wide web. Sure, the first site wasn't much to look at compared to today's site but we were pretty excited to have the chance to serve shooters all over the country with primers, powders and more. It's clear that a lot has changed in terms of technology but we still pride ourselves on always making time to treat our customers right. https://www.wideners.com/about-us Take a Liberal to the range Buzzfeed did just that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6Ex2rVOUWs

The steps I took to purchase my Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum hand cannon revolver from JGB Arms, Kauai, Hawaii. Notes: You need to be at least 21 years of age and a US citizen. A handgun permit is required for each handgun you plan to purchase. A long gun permit is good for 1 year and the amount of long guns you can purchase is unlimited. Also, those who have a medical marijuana card cannot purchase firearms in Hawaii. Once you have acquired a firearm, you have 5 days to register it with your local county Police Department. These are the procedures as of August 2018.

This is my match video for the 2012 Multigun Challenge, hosted Sacramento Black Rifle at the Lincoln Shooting Sports Center. This was their first time putting on and holding this match and it came together wonderfully. They had stage dedicated ROs, pre-squadded teams and shooter packets that even had carbon copy scoresheets. The match ran very well and the staff was amazing. The video kinda speaks for itself. I feel I shot really well until the last stage. There were small things throughout the match I could have done better, but things worked out well overall. Stage 5, the shotgun stage, really kicked my butt. When I walked up to the line I was already mentally defeated. I felt like I was missing something and wasn't confident in my gameplan. I should have taken an extra moment on the line and solidified everyting before starting, but I didn't. I also didn't have a shell in my pocket to load as a first round, I had to take a shell of the side of the gun so I could start fully loaded. I also tried shooting #6 shot on the course so that I could get some doubles that lined up, but I would have been better off just shooting it straight up. When I started I tried to hit this tiny plate that was angled away from me. I missed 5 times before I started moving from the first firing position and after that I ended up in 2 open bolt loads. I had gotten off whatever plan I had but by about mid stage I was back on plan and doing OK. I got to the very end and I had missed a shot earlier which made me run out before engaging the last plate. I looked to my belt, only to find I had used all my ammo. Luckily I had one last shell on the gun, I loaded that and hit the last plate. It took me 4 seconds to load that shell and hit the last plate, I've practiced just going from open bolt and loading off the side, I can usually get the shot off in 1.5-2 seconds, so that's a point of training I need to get into my goto game plan for when I got dry. Despite that I finished well. The day of the match, only final scores, not stage scores were posted and I ended up in 6th place out of 44 shooters. When they posted the scores to the website however, I found a scoring error. They had recorded my first stage being completed in 75.63 seconds when I really shot it in 57.63 seconds. That diffrence was worth over 20 match points and enough of an error that, had it been caught on match day, I would have been 3rd in Tactical Division. Live and learn I guess. From now on I'll always check my scoresheets against what's recorded and if stages aren't posted, I'll request it.

I love a stage where I can run and gun! This was a fun stage with some hardcover close targets and a medium range Texas star. I plan on working on completing my reloads sooner so that I can focus on getting my feet moving! Follow me on Twitter & Instagram: @lcshooting
