6 Prostate Cancer Risk Factors Men Should Know
6 Prostate Cancer Risk Factors Men Should Know. According to the American National Cancer Institute, after skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in men, and 1-in-7 will be diagnosed with it during their lifetime. This is quite the troubling statistic, especially since many men still don’t even know where in their body the prostate is. As prostate cancer can be hard to discover from a lack of symptoms, it is important to recognize the risk factors. If you believe you are at risk for prostate cancer, talk to your doctor about being tested. Here are 10 risk factors of prostate cancer. 1, Age. Age is a huge factor in your risk for prostate cancer. The statistics are shocking. 30% of men 50 and over already have prostate cancer. 80% of men 70 and over have prostate cancer. On average, the age of diagnosis of prostate cancer is 70 years old. Generally, the older the man, the greater the risk of developing prostate cancer. Agressive forms of prostate cancer can affect men at any age, but this is rare. If you are over 40 years old, it would be a smart idea to be proactive and get checked. 2, Genetics. Family history can play a big part of your risk of prostate cancer. If your family has a history of prostate cancer, you may have a greater risk of developing it yourself. Having a close relative with prostate cancer can give you a 2-3 times larger chance of getting this disease. As of now, there is no specific gene responsible for the elevated risk of prostate cancer. As far as scientists can tell, the answers lie in multiple genes. 3, Exercise. A new study has found a relationship between exercise and a lowered risk of prostate cancer in Caucasian men. The researchers found that men who were moderately to highly active had over a 50% reduction in their prostate cancer risk. Men who exercised in any amount had a 13% reduction in the risk of the agressive form of the disease. 4, Weight. Being overweight increases your risk of developing various forms of cancer, including prostate cancer. Overweight and obese men are also at risk for developing a more aggressive form of prostate cancer, according to a study from the San Diego Naval Medical Center. What is the Most Important Risk Factor for Prostate Cancer?
Despite what many people think, an enlarged prostate is not a risk factor for developing prostate cancer. It is a risk factor, however, for having voiding symptoms. Obesity on the other hand can be a risk for developing prostate cancer and having more aggressive forms. There have been several studies that have shown that obese man have worse outcomes after treatment whether it would be surgery or radiation, if they are not taking care of themselves. Prostate Cancer Prevention - 7 Ways to Protect your prostate Naturally
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men in the United-States. The prostate is a walnut-sized gland behind the base of a man’s penis and below the urinary bladder. Its function is to make seminal fluid, which is the liquid in semen that protects, supports, and helps transport sperm. In this video will talk about some of the natural ways to reduce your risk of prostate-cancer. 1.Learn about personal risk factors. Some of the major personal risk factors for prostate cancer are age and family history. The risk of prostate cancer increases the older you get. Although approximately 75% of the cases of prostate-cancer have no pattern or order, about 20% of those with prostate-cancer have had cases of the disease in their family previously. More than 80% of prostate-cancers are diagnosed in men over the age of 65. 2.Exercise regularly. One great way to possibly reduce the risk of prostate-cancer is to exercise. Some studies even indicate that your risk of cancer decreases further the more vigorous you exercise. You should do aerobic-exercise at least 30 minutes per day for 5-6 days out of the week. 3.Have sex more often. Another way that you can reduce your risk of prostate-cancer is to have more sex. According to an Australian study, if you masturbate 3 or more times per week, you are 34% less likely to develop prostate-cancer by age 70. Along the same lines, sex also counts toward the total number of weekly ejaculations. • The finding could be explained by the flushing out of cancer-causing agents during ejaculation 3.Reduce the amount of fat you eat. You can reduce your risk of prostate-cancer by making dietary changes. In order to help lower your chance of getting prostate-cancer, you should eat a diet that is low in fat. According to numerous studies, there is an established link between a diet high in saturated-fat and the development of prostate-cancer. • In general, fats should not exceed 30% of total daily-caloric intake 4.Increase your soy intake. Increasing the consumption of soy products is another dietary option to consider to reduce the risk of prostate-cancer. Soy products contain isoflavones, which are natural compounds that act like estrogens. In laboratory tests, they have been proven to inhibit the growth of prostate-cancer cells. • Try to incorporate soy products such as soymilk, tempeh, miso, and tofu into your diet. 5.Brew green tea. Drinking green-tea may also reduce the risk of prostate-cancer. Brewed green-tea contains high levels of polyphenol compounds, particularly catechins, that may be protective against prostate-cancer. Try to brew yourself a cup with breakfast or lunch to help lower your risk of cancer 6.Increase natural vitamins and minerals. There are some supplements that will naturally help you fight prostate-cancer. Naturally occurring folate, a B vitamin, has been shown to reduce the risk of prostate-cancer. You should not take folic-acid, which is a synthetic form of folate, because it has been found to increase the risk of prostate-cancer. How To Lower Your Risk Of Prostate Cancer
"According to a Montreal study made public Tuesday, sleeping with several women — more than 20, to be exact — has a protective factor. It is associated with a 28-per-cent lower risk of one day being diagnosed with prostate cancer, according epidemiologist Marie-Élise Parent and her team of researchers at the Université de Montréal and INRS — Institut Armand-Frappier. There are only “highly speculative” hypotheses at this point, said Parent, the lead researcher. One theory, supported by previous studies, suggests that men who ejaculate frequently are less likely to develop prostate cancer." How Doctors Determine Prostate Cancer Risk
How Doctors Determine Prostate Cancer Risk and Select Treatment Doctors examine a wide range of factors when determining prostate cancer risk. These include consulting National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines, the cancer's determined Gleason score, X-ray imaging and the initial staging of the disease. From there, doctors determine the risk of the cancer's spread to other organs. If a prostate cancer is determined to be low-risk and unlikely to spread, treatments like active surveillance can be deployed. If, however, a cancer is deemed higher risk and more likely to spread doctors will take a more aggressive treatment approach. But again, doctors will consider many options and recommend for you and what NCCN and other physicians have recommended. It is essential for doctors to use all of the available data when considering what your options are and the best options may be for your risk factor. How Risky is High-Risk Prostate Cancer?
Dr. Sanjay Addla is a Consultant Urologist for Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.  The full title is: How Risky is High-Risk Prostate Cancer?  Lessons Learnt From 575 Robotic Radical Prostatectomies.  Dr. Addla talks about the typical prostate cancer patient, who ends up dieing a painful death after various treatments, not including surgery.  "I am not going to say that by doing surgery, you will alter the natural history dramatically, but one thing for sure- he would not die a miserable death.," Addla claims.  He defines high-risk disease: PSA over 20, Gleason 8-110, and cancer more than or equal to T2c.  He compares low- medium- and high-risk patient statistics, telling the Robotic Surgeons Council of India that one-third of patients in the high-risk category still have cancer which is "organ-confined, curable disease."   Ten years after undergoing a robotic radical prostatectomy, he cites Mayo Clinic statistics showing that 55% of the high-risk RARP patients are cured by surgery (at 10 years) and more than 90% never have lower urinary tract obstructions.    Lecture, with PowerPoints, 06:33See more at: http://vfrsi.vattikutifoundation.com/

Reduce Cancer Risk With Boron Boron is increasingly recognized for its targeted capacity to destroy prostate cancer cells and lower prostate-specific antigen, or PSA—while leaving healthy cells unharmed. Sufficient amounts of boron also support healthy bones and joints, as well as reducing the risk and pain of osteoarthritis. Boron quantities found in food are usually very low. Adequate boron intake via supplements may help prevent or control potentially lethal prostate cancer and support optimum health. BORON: NOT ABUNDANTLY FOUND IN FOOD Boron is a trace mineral that is essential to plant growth and finds its way into the human diet through our consumption of plant foods—especially apples, plums, grapes, avocados, vegetables, nuts, and legumes. Despite its widespread availability in plant foods, ingesting adequate amounts of boron through dietary choices can be difficult. Why? Because the total quantity of boron in any one plant food is very low. For example, apples are considered to be a good source of boron. However, to attain the minimum 3 mg daily intake of boron that is generally suggested, you would need to eat about 2.4 pounds of apples a day—that’s over eight apples! You wouldn’t have to worry about surpassing the tolerable daily intake (TDI) for boron until you managed to consume about 68 apples during a single day! Worse, with modern dietary habits, many individuals can develop a boron deficiency by simply failing to eat enough fruits, vegetables, and nuts. And even among those whose diets include rich quantities of these plant foods, their boron intake will be greatly affected by regional geology because the food content of boron varies greatly according to the boron content of the soil in the region where the produce was grown. Even local preferences for some foods over others can result in high or low human boron levels. Ensuring optimal boron intake becomes increasingly important as we age. While boron has long been recognized for its critical role in safeguarding bone health, scientists are increasingly excited about growing evidence of boron’s powerful role in blocking the development of prostate cancer. This idea has sparked intense interest among researchers, because this potentially fatal disease is at epidemic proportions. Autopsy evidence indicates that prostate cancer is histologically evident in up to 34% of men aged 40 to 49 and up to 70% of men aged 80 and older. PROSTATE CANCER: WHAT’S YOUR RISK? Prostate Cancer Also known as carcinoma of the prostate—a gland in the male reproductive system—prostate cancer: Is diagnosed in about 209,000 American men every year Is the most common cancer among men Is the second leading cause of cancer death among men (after lung cancer) Kills about 28,000 American men annually Can occur without exhibiting any symptoms at all Can result in any of the following symptoms: Difficulty starting urination Weak or interrupted flow of urine Frequent urination, especially at night Difficulty emptying the bladder completely Pain or burning during urination Blood in the urine or semen Pain in the back, hips, or pelvis that doesn’t go away Painful ejaculation May be up to 64% less likely to strike men with adequate boron levels than men with boron deficiency

Fish Oil and Prostate Cancer Risk
A recent study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute revealed that men with prostate cancer had a higher level of omega 3 fatty acids in their blood compared to men with out cancer. The study did not look at diet intake or supplement use in these men and does not prove that high omega 3 levels or fish oil intake causes the cancer. Bottom line... if you and your doctor have determined that taking fish oil is good for your health then keep taking it.

Advice for Patients with Prostate Cancer
Just been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer? Get sound advice from Edward Weber, M.D. At pctrf.org, you can find help. Prostate Cancer takes years to develop to where it can be diagnosed. Rising PSA, Biopsy or DRE? You didn't just get prostate cancer, you have just been diagnosed with cancer. Take your time, to learn the options. Schedule appointments with specialist. Sessions with Urological Surgeons, Radiation Therapists and Medical Oncologists can help you sort through the Treatment Options. Do you choose Active Surveillance, Surgery, External Beam Radiation, Seed or Brachytherapy, Proton Therapy, Cryotherapy, Cyberknife, or some other treatment? The Prostate Cancer Treatment Research Foundation can help you with this process. On our website, we provide a simple way for you to view the results of different prostate cancer treatments across thousands of patients for as long as fifteen years. Visit our website at https://.prostatecancerfree.org Video Development - Dean Dubinsky Video Transcript: Prostate Cancer Free Foundation. Increasing Knowledge - Building Hope. Edward Weber, M.D. Medical Oncologist, Prostate Cancer Results Study Group. You’ve been diagnosed with prostate cancer. If your diagnosis came as a result of a schedule of appropriate PSA testing, it’s very likely the disease has been found early. This comes as a surprise to most men and they are quite anxious at this point. Being told you have prostate cancer is a frighting message carrying a heavy baggage The normal urge is to plunge into a “crash course” to learn how to manage this unwelcome intrusion into your life, a crash course that you are unlikely to know how to handle objectively. So … what to do?  Stop, take a deep breath, step back a bit, and think carefully. It is extremely unusual that there is any need to rush to a decision. Most cancers have been sitting quietly in your prostate and growing for 10 to 15 years, with the most aggressive ones developing over 10 or so years. So … you haven’t just “gotten” prostate cancer. You just have been “diagnosed” with a cancer that you have been living with for a long time. Likely your diagnosis has been made by a biopsy performed by a urologist, an expert in the surgical management of prostate cancer. It’s extremely important for you to know that any cancer, low grade, intermediate, or high grade can be successfully treated with surgery, augmented if need be by radiation, external beam radiation therapy, permanent radioactive seed placement, for example brachytherapy, combined if indicated by external radiation, and proton therapy. In some cases cryotherapy or short course of focused radiation with Cyberknife technology is chosen.  Active surveillance is a very important option for management of low-risk cancer. It warrants serious consideration and discussion. Take your time and learn about the treatment options available to you. You may want to consider several of these. In most situations, all of these are reasonable options. But for some men their individual  situations makes a particular option the better choice. Nor do all options suit every man’s emotional reaction to the diagnosis or his preferences.  So what should you do? You do not need to become an instant expert. Instead, you need to have consultations with possibly several specialists who can describe their treatments and help you decide which treatment fits you best. In the process you may well have consultations with a urological surgeon and possibly several radiation therapists each skilled in a special type of radiation therapy. If your disease is more complex, you may want an option from medical oncologist, which is what I am. It’s important to be informed, but you don't need to do this alone. That’s what the specialists are there for. This is the time for deliberation, since once treated you cannot reverse the course. After stopping, and thinking, and gaining expert guidance, then take action. Most not all of the mental fuzz of anxiety and consternation will subside. But when you have made a considered decision you will feel very comfortable.  Then you can devote your energy to the goal of successful treatment and recovery. The outcome of therapy for this disease is generally excellent, very likely much better than you might have thought. With careful deliberation on your part and treatment by experts, your will be able to make this usual good outcome your outcome. Prostate Cancer Free Foundation. https://prostatecancerfree.org

9 Things That Affect A Man's Prostate Cancer Risk - prostate Cancer Symptoms! By Healthy Ways
9 Things That Affect A Man's Prostate Cancer Risk - prostate Cancer Symptoms. Prostate cancer is cancer that occurs in the prostate -- a small gland in men that produces the fluid that nourishes and transports sperm. Prostate cancer is among the most frequent forms of cancer in men. However, although some kinds of prostate cancer grow slowly and might need minimal or even no treatment, other kinds are aggressive and may spread rapidly. While the number one danger of prostate cancer is age, there are quite a few different factors that could increase or decrease the danger of a person's cancer. Here are five motives. 1. Family history- If his father or a brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer, a man's risk for the disease roughly drops, Koehler says. Blame the genes. As heart disease and other health problems can operate in a family, so can prostate cancer risk concludes a study in the journal Urology. 2. Race- African males could possibly be up to five times more prone to develop prostate cancer compared to men of different races, as stated by the National Cancer Institute. Scientists have linked some particular DNA "versions" to prostate cancer. And African American men appear to take more of the variations, based on research published within the journal Nature Genetics. 3. Masturbation Habit- The more commonly some man masturbates throughout his 20s, 30s, and 40s, the more the chance of prostate cancer, concludes research in the journal BJU International. The research author’s state elevated quantities of this hormone testosterone levels are associated with high levels of prostate cancer--along with to greater libido. 4. Age- Among the largest risk factors for prostate cancer is age-old. Teenage boys are rarely affected by this disease. The Prostate Cancer Foundation reports that just one in 10,000 men under the age of 40 at the USA will grow it. That number jumps to at least one in 38 for men between the ages of 40 and 59. It jumps in 14 men between the ages of 60 and 69 into at least one. 5. Frequent sexual intercourse- On the flip side, the more sexual sex that a guy gets, the lower his risk for prostate cancer--especially if he is over 50. That is based on a study from the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Laboratory evaluations have proven that the manic material of a guy's semen differs when he strolled during intercourse versus throughout orgasm. It is likely that sex fires the prostate up and also helps clean toxins out in a way orgasm cannot fit, the study authors imply. Give It a Try And Let Me Know or Comment Below How It works With You. Choosing the Right Prostate Cancer Treatment
There are many things to consider when trying to choose the prostate cancer treatment that is right for you. Most men diagnosed with prostate cancer haven't had the disease spread beyond the gland and may be classified as low risk. Others may have more advanced stages of the disease and will be considered intermediate or high risk. Doctors use the serum PSA test and the Gleason score to help decide which type of prostate cancer they are dealing with. Treatment options vary depending on these factors and more. Dr. Farshid Dayyani details what these factors are and how you can use them to find the correct prostate cancer treatment for you.
