My answer is that it really depends on you. I will show you the pros and cons of rice and go over what I believe is the healthiest rice today. There is a debate today about if you should consume rice or not: ⁃ The paleo diet community says to stay grain-free and therefore that rice is not healthy ⁃ Chinese medicine followers and vegans think rice can be an incredible superfood I believe there is validity to both but it depends on the person and the preparation of the rice. Rice to stay away from: Refined White Rice (This is not jasmine or basmati rice but the sticky white rice from fast food or Chinese restaurants.) Rice Cons: • Fiber, minerals and vitamins have been removed. • Study shows that people are twice as likely to develop diabetes as opposed to those eating whole grain brown rice. • Contains phytic acid (enzyme inhibitor) which keeps you from absorbing and digesting vitamins and minerals. • Contains proteins that are difficult to digest Rice Pros: • Whole grain brown rice is high in B3 which is good for heart health. • Whole grain brown rice is high in selenium which supports the thyroid and kidneys. • Certain types of rice contain GABA, a neurotransmitter that can support the brain and help reduce anxiety as well as support metabolism. So ... is rice healthy? Is brown rice healthy? It depends on how it is prepared. I believe if rice is soaked and sprouted, it unlocks the vitamins and minerals versus most rices that aren’t sprouted. More and more companies are coming up with different bottled coconut water, claiming that it can do wonders for our health. Studies have shown that eating raw honey consistently can help to raise the levels of antioxidants in our body. How I lowered my dad's blood pressure, without drugs or diets: ►►http://drsam.co/yt/LowerYourBP ======================================= How To Lower Your Blood Pressure Naturally ======================================= This is a really important question because most people don’t know that high blood pressure (hypertension) is the most important risk factor for premature deaths… It accounts for over 50% of all deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and 14% of all total deaths each year! Globally, high blood pressure affects 27% of the population and the stats are even worse in the US, about 35% of the population! And get this, it has been estimated that 90% of Americans are expected to develop high blood pressure by the age of 65. I’m very familiar with the stats because I have a family history of high blood pressure (my dad’s side), causing heart attacks and strokes. “Normal” Is Still Too High The newest research suggests that even “normal” blood pressure (120–129 / 80–84 mmHg) increases the risk of death from cardiovascular disease by 46% on average. For women, the risk was slightly lower. But for men, it was much higher—80%, regardless of age. These results are alarming in light of the fact that 33% US citizens have a blood pressure in the normal/high range (129–139 / 84–95 mmHg).... Drugs Don’t Even Work Making the problem worse, studies have shown that prescription drugs for “high normal” blood pressure and even mild hypertension are not effective. A large review of randomized, clinical trials (performed by the prestigious Cochrane Collaboration) found that anti-hypertensive drugs used to treat mild hypertension (140–159 / 90–99 mm/Hg) did not reduce disease complications or the risk of death. What Does All Of This Mean For You?… Even mild hypertension, while still in the “normal” range, can nearly double your risk of heart disease and thus, potentially leading to a heart attack or stroke. So that means we need to… Lower Your Blood Pressure, Naturally High blood pressure affects only 1% of hunter-gatherer populations following a traditional diet,.... but its prevalence increases when those cultures adopt a western diet and lifestyle … DIET Remember that your genes and hormones are primary controlling factors in how you look and feel. And, what you EAT controls your hormones and thus, dictates “gene expression”. Eating the wrong foods can cause hypertension. Pay attention to: Less Sugar & Simple Carbohydrates – When your blood sugar spikes up, typically from eating sugar or from processed/refined carbohydrates, your blood pressure goes up and blood flow decreases. More Vegetables & Fruits – These foods have higher levels of potassium, magnesium, minerals and vitamins which help lower blood pressure. Cholesterol and High BP Natural remedy Added English CC. 1 measure of chopped ginger and garlic. We used 1 cup as our measure. Add equal amount of water and grind ginger. Extract juice. Measure 1 cup. Add 1 cup Apple cider vinegar, 1 cup lemon juice. Add 1 measure water to garlic, grind to paste. Add to mixture. Heat the mixture and reduce in half. Certain foods raise your blood pressure - we all know that. But when you ask someone exactly which foods lower blood pressure and which ones increase it, many will just say "it goes up when you eat meat, and down when you eat fruits and vegetables." Food that comes from animals is usually more likely to cause hypertension - high blood pressure - than fruits and vegetables. But even some foods that don't come from animals may contain a lot of certain elements - especially sodium or salt - that affect blood pressure in a negative way. Think potato chips, frozen foods that come in a box (like frozen lasagna), and canned soups, just to name a few. And then there are those fast food french fries we all love. This video offers the basics of a high blood pressure diet plan, spelling out foods to avoid and foods to eat to keep your blood pressure in a normal range. Factors that can contribute to a high uric acid level include a diet high in purines (purines are broken down into uric acid), excess alcohol consumption, renal insufficiency, obesity, underactive thyroid, genetics, diabetes, acidosis, and certain other diseases. There are some tips and natural remedies that can help reduce and control uric acid levels. 1. Apple Cider Vinegar Being a natural cleanser and detoxifier, apple cider vinegar can help remove wastes like uric acid from the body. It contains malic acid that helps break down and eliminate uric acid. Add one teaspoon of raw, organic, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. Drink this solution two or three times a day. Another benefit of pickle juice is that it helps you stay hydrated during workouts — the sodium and potassium in pickle juice are electrolytes you lose when you sweat, so they help keep your body in tip-top condition while you’re exercising. Because of its exercise benefits, it’s also important to note that it’s fat-free! While many people choose to recover from workouts with sports drinks, those sugary drinks are high in calories — if you’re trying to lose weight, pickle juice is a much better option. According to a study in Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, vinegar (of which there is a lot in pickle juice) helps people lose weight when it is consumed daily — thus, pickle juice may aid in your weight-loss efforts. Pickle juice also has a lot of antioxidants, which fight against cancer-causing free radicals, explains Rice University. More specifically, cucumbers (which pickles are made of) contain vitamin A and vitamin E, which are powerful antioxidants. Because pickles juice is a fermented food, it’s good for your digestive system and can boost gut health. Vinegar also helps relieve bad breath, so pickle juice has been known to freshen breath. Finally, pickle juice can help control blood sugar. A study published in the Journal of Diabetes Research showed that vinegar consumed before a meal helped regulate blood sugar levels after the meal in people with type 2 diabetes.￼ How To Consume Pickle Juice.￼ There are a lot of ways to add more pickle juice into your diet — in fact, people have created wacky pickle juice snacks all over the country! From pickle juice slushies to pickle-infused vodka, pickle lovers have come up with everything. I decided that to test the benefits of pickle juice, I’d do something a little simpler: I’d drink a shot of pickle juice once a day.￼ Drinking Pickle Juice: Day 1.￼ I love eating pickles, but I won’t lie — I was a little intimidated by the idea of drinking pickle juice. Honestly, I had to work up the courage to actually drink the pickle juice shot. I probably stood in the LittleThings office for about 10 minutes just staring at the pickle juice before I actually drank it. I was pleasantly surprised that the pickle juice didn’t taste bad at all — it was strong, but it mostly just tasted salty. Even though pickle juice has a lot of vinegar in it, it didn’t taste too acidic.￼ Drinking Pickle Juice: Day 2.￼ On Day 2 of my pickle juice experiment, I had some period cramps, so I hoped the pickle juice would help — since it’s known to ease muscle cramps, I was hopeful that the pickle juice shot would get rid of my cramps. By the end of the day, my cramps were gone — whether they went away on their own or because of the pickle juice, I’m not sure. But either way, they were gone.￼ Drinking Pickle Juice: Day 3.￼ By Day 3 it felt pretty normal to drink my shot of pickle juice. After work, I went to barre class — and let me tell you, I was definitely expecting to have some muscle cramps after barre, as I almost always do. The class was as difficult as usual, so I was pretty sure I’d be sore the next day.￼ Drinking Pickle Juice: Day 4.￼ On Day 4, I was almost certain that I’d have muscle cramps from the barre class — but I didn’t. I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn’t sore, but I was so busy reveling in my lack-of-soreness that I forgot to drink pickle juice at my normal time. I ended up drinking my pickle shot at the end of the day, but I don’t think it made too much of a difference.￼ Drinking Pickle Juice: Day 5.￼ Usually, the second day after working out is when I’m the most sore, but I still had no cramps from barre class — I don’t know if that’s natural or from the pickle juice, but hey, I’m all for it either way. By the time I got to Day 5, drinking pickle juice felt pretty normal.
