In this video, and below, I’ll dive deeper into the 5 main rules to follow, so you can lose weight and get healthy by following a clean eating plan. Let’s dive on in with Rule #1! *Rule #1 – Avoid Processed Foods (2:32) Here at the FFP, we use what we call the ‘great-grandmother’ test. If your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize it as a food, don’t eat it. If you’re buying foods that come in a packet, box, etc. make sure to look at the ingredients, as the producers have to list the ingredients in order of quantity. If the top ingredients are refined flours, low-quality oils, sugars, or ‘artificial’ anything, it SHOULDN'T GO IN YOUR BODY! Many foods have ‘hidden’ sugars in them, in the form of syrups and fruit sugars. Even many ‘healthy’ juices and smoothies stack up against the donut rating at a rate of 4-6 donuts worth of sugar PER DRINK! *Rule #3 – Watch Out For Low-Quality Fats (5:30) The next rule in your clean eating weight loss plan is to check out which fats you are currently eating in your diet. The bad fats that I show you below are responsible for increased inflammation within your body, which is what leads to most deadly diseases. They are also responsible for visceral fat that sits around your organs and causes major health problems too. Good Fats: Avocado, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Virgin Coconut Oil, Egg yolks Bad Fats: Canola Oil, Corn Oil, Peanut Oil, Soy Oil, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil. *Rule #4 – Use High-Quality Grains (7:03) Cutting down on refined carbohydrates is one of the best things you can do for clean eating weight loss. However, that doesn’t mean you need to eliminate all types of bread completely, for example. Using carb sources that include good quality, organic, non-processed grains, like Ezekiel bread, is absolutely fine. Corn fed animal proteins have been proven to include the fats that cause inflammation inside our bodies, so are a bad choice of protein and fat. Grass-fed, organic, lean meat is what you should make sure to eat, should you include animal proteins in your diet. We had the first 500 registrations within minutes and in less than 48 hours we have 75000 signups from across the globe. Wow! Thats huge and I hope that together our enthusiasm doesn’t fizzle out as the weeks go by. Wait, before anything else - Happy New Year, may it be the year of many possibilities, one of them being sustainable fitness. So, a little about the project - Why - because fitness is uncomplicated, inexpensive and something that everyone should have access to. It can uplift life and make you much more useful to yourself and the society than what you already are. What - we give you one guideline every week that you work at integrating into your daily life. The guidelines will be easy but nevertheless challenging as they progressively add up every week. By the end of 12 weeks or 3 months you will be doing 12 different things or 12 things differently from the way you are currently doing and you will permanently be on your way to fitness. Who - anyone, anywhere, who is willing to take the effort daily for himself/herself. The food- pharma- weight loss industries lie to us when they tell us that a pill, procedure, program or a product can make us thin. No, the only thing that works - education and consistent efforts. How - a) We will give out the weekly guideline starting today and then on every Tuesday. b) There will be a weekly google form published on this fb page (every Tuesday) which will ask you to fill your compliance - whether you have managed to stick to the guidelines, c) and a monthly google form which will ask you to rate your progress on the health parameters (energy levels, sleep quality, acidity/indigestion, sweet cravings, exercise compliance and PMS/ period pain). My team and I have based every piece of information we offer around these principles, and they are at the heart of our FF30X program, (http://fitfatherproject.com/ff30x-letter-video) *Principles Of Weight Loss #1 - Mindset & Motivation (1:17) When you start to look around for weight loss principles for men over 40, you’re often faced with workout plans and diets. Although these are hugely important parts of any weight loss journey, they are not the FIRST thing you need to think about. The very first step is to get into the right mindset and start to build sustainable habits to change your lifestyle long-term. Discovering your ‘WHY’ will be the best thing you can do to ensure you get off to the best start. It will also give you extra motivation any time you feel like giving up. * Principles Of Weight Loss #2 - Sleep & Recovery (2:47) The next of our basic weight loss principles for men is simply the need to get enough sleep to help you rest and recover. Sleep is hugely important as it helps your muscles to recover after intense workouts and balances your hormone levels. You should be aiming to get a minimum of 7 hours sleep each night, to optimally manage your recovery and hormone balance. Lack of sleep can contribute to increased stress through higher cortisol levels, as well as hunger and appetite issues caused by an imbalance in Ghrelin and Leptin levels. * Principles Of Weight Loss #3 - Nutrition & Diet (4:19) Number 3 on our list of the basics of weight loss for men over 40 is diet. Although there is no actual figure, it is widely accepted that diet will account for around 80% of your weight loss results. In fact, we have a saying here at the Fit Father Project, which advises ‘You Can Never Out-Exercise A Bad Diet’. What we mean by this, is that no matter how hard you train, you will not see results if your diet is full of junk. So, the suggestion of my team and I is to use the perfect plates principle of having ¼ plate of protein, ¼ plate of complex carbs, and ½ plate of veggies at each meal. This, with a small portion of healthy fats, will help you manage blood sugar levels, cravings, and your appetite. * Principles Of Weight Loss #4 - Daily Activity (8:12) So, we’ll continue with familiar principles now and move to activity, however, not in the form of full-on workouts just yet. More importantly, both to get the habit in place and to condition your body a little, daily physical activity is what you need. Just 30-minutes of regular activity, such as walking, cycling or swimming is enough to get you started on your weight loss journey. * Principles Of Weight Loss #5 - Formal Exercise (9:41) Once you’ve been doing 30-minutes of daily physical activity for a couple of weeks, you’re good to get started on a full formal workout plan. Here at the Fit Father Project, we like to use a workout type called Metabolic Resistance Training, which incorporates weights, cardio, and flexibility. Getting onto a formal workout will be more intense, and therefore help you burn more calories. But, more importantly, it has two added benefits which are increased metabolism and increased testosterone. These are hugely important when it comes to training into your 40’s, 50’s and above. *Principles Of Weight Loss #6 - Supplements (11:43) Last but not least is supplements, and what you need to remember here is that these are by their very name… supplemental. Supplements should not be used as a shortcut to get results. They should be used to support all of the steps above, to get the optimum results for your efforts. There are a few key supplements that I would recommend you take on a daily basis, namely a full spectrum multi-vitamin, fish oil, Vitamin D3, Creatine Monohydrate, and Protein powders. I would also recommend drinking black coffee and green tea. Both should be taken naturally, without any additional sugar, milk, or cream. In this video and accompanying article, I'm offering you 5 amazing solutions to combat loose skin after weight loss. Some of you may believe that it's impossible to fix loose skin after weight loss without surgery, but I'm here to tell you that you can. In fact... I have 4 other solutions you should try before you even think about letting a surgeon near you. Here are my 4 remedies for loose skin after weight loss before surgery should be an option. Step #1: Build More Muscle Now that you've lost a lot of body fat, you have ended up with space on your frame and inside your skin, which is causing it to be loose. My recommendation is to clean bulk muscle tissue (increasing muscle without adding fat) to fill up the space, improve your body shape, and help tighten up your loose skin. More muscle mass will also ignite your metabolism and help with another one of my recommendations further down, of continuing to lose body fat. Two birds with one stone! Win-Win!! Step #2: Protect your skin & Supplement with collagen Protecting your skin from things that will damage its elasticity is the first stage of this step. Quitting smoking, avoiding UV rays without sunscreen, and avoiding too much chlorine or other chemicals on your skin will help. Daily moisturizing or a similar skincare routine maybe isn't what you're used to, but if you're open to loose skin after weight loss remedies, this could be the change you need to make. Also, because a lot of loose skin after weight loss over 50 is caused by decreasing collagen production in your body, supplementing with collagen would definitely be beneficial. If you still have loose skin after you have got down to such a low percentage, you may need to decide whether you are happy as you are, or whether my last 2 solutions are needed. Step #4: Non-invasive medical procedures (Fraxel lasers/radio frequency skin tightening) Non-invasive procedures, such as Fraxel lasers or radio frequency skin tightening machines could be the next step you need to take if the previous 3 options haven't had the desired effect. Radio frequency machines are freely available from beauty stores, Amazon or eBay. Sessions are also likely available at beauty centers and medical centers in your local area. Fraxel lasers are also available, but I would suggest having this done by a professional at a reputable clinic. If you have health care insurance, it would be worth checking out whether these types of treatments are covered. Step #5 & Last option: Surgery This is the option I hope you are able to avoid, but in some instances where my other 4 options haven't worked, it may be necessary to seek the professional opinion of a surgeon. Having loose skin after weight loss cannot always be solved without surgery, but I would still urge you to give the first 4 options a shot before reaching out to your doctor or surgeon. Because even if you have the best strategies on nutrition, workouts, supplementation, etc..., if you don't have that extra push in your motivation, it's going to be even more difficult to stick to them long term. So here are some helpful motivation boosters for you. #1 Remember your "why" (0:55) This is easily the most critical step you need to take when building your motivation. This is your rock solid mission statement where you lay out all the reasons why weight loss is a top goal for you right now. You need to unwrap the deeper reasons as to why improving your health is absolutely essential. When you write this down, you'll always have a concrete foundation to reignite your motivation for weight loss. That’s EXACTLY what I’m going to show you in this video. If you follow crash diets or plans that are super restrictive, you’ll hinder your progress over the long term, which has no benefit to you. We’ll dive in with a tip that sounds a little counter-intuitive but holds much more benefits to your health than just fast weight loss. *Tip #1 – Get More Sleep (1:56) Sleep is the number one most important tip to lose weight fast for men. It is natures reset button and helps your body to burn fat instead of muscle, as well as controlling hunger and stress levels. Both of these will be super helpful when it comes to your weight loss results! I recommend aiming for a MINIMUM of 7 hours of sleep each night. If you’re currently getting less than this, you need to evaluate why this is and try to fix your sleep schedule to make 7 hours your absolute minimum number of hours per night. All of these things will have a positive impact on your attempt to lose weight fast. But just because something has protein doesn’t make it a good choice. If it has loads of carbs you’re going to mess with your blood sugar and energy levels. FT. THOMAS, Ky. (WKRC) - Jared Lorenzen has always been big. “I came out of the womb at 13 pounds 3 ounces,” he said at a picnic table in Ft. Thomas’ Tower Park. But he didn’t know how big until he stepped on the scale a few months ago and saw he weighed 502.8 pounds. “It terrified me to get on the scale. For me to see it was scary but to know there was a camera over my shoulder and that everybody was going to see it made my heart drop. It made me really kind of look at it and go, ‘Okay. Something’s up. Something’s got to change.’” The camera was part of a promotional video for the project Lorenzen is launching to make that change. The Jared Lorenzen Project will be yearlong video log of his new training and diet regimen. Lorenzen is working with celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson and nutritionist Dr. Phillip Golia. He will have a mobile trailer that will livestream his workouts. The 36-year-old father of two hopes to take the trailer to local schools and sporting events. His goal is to do his part to fight childhood obesity. “Hey, get out there and be active. Have fun but don’t come home and eat a bunch of cookies and brownies. Let’s be smart. Eat some vegetables. It sounds simple and it is simple but I figure if you can get them younger it’s a lot easier to change their habits.” Lorenzen has fought weight issues since he left Highlands High School in 1998 after winning two Kentucky state championships. As a quarterback at UK, he was required to regularly weigh in. That continued during a four-year stint as a backup quarterback in the NFL. He is quick to point out The Jared Lorenzen Project is not about weight loss; it’s about getting healthy. “I’m on blood pressure medicine right now. My goal is to come off that. I think he’ll have a lifelong impact on a whole bunch of people.”

The fitness project 2018 - Week 6 guideline This week’s guideline is a straight call from the heart - exercise. You know you should be doing it but you are still looking for a good time. Good time aa gaya. There isn’t a person on earth who doesn’t want to lose weight. But to lose weight you have to gain weight - i.e lean body weight - the weight of your bones and muscles. Most of us lose between 2- 4 kgs of muscles every 10 years. In women, especially after 30, we lose muscle from our thighs and gain intramuscular fat at a fast pace. This continuous and progressive loss of muscles and bone density can be reversed with exercise. Not just exercise actually, but a structured exercise. One that includes strength (weight) training and follows some basic principles of exercise science. And this is our guideline for week 6 – Start with atleast one session of strength training every week. Here are some of the benefits from just one session of strength training a week - • Prevents Diabetes and if you already have it, has the potential to get you on lowered dosages if not totally off medicines. • Regulates period cycle and leads to pain free periods. Make conception easy if you want a baby. • Reduces arthritic pain and uric acid. • Reduces Blood pressure and resting heart rate. • Improves functioning of the brain. • Increases gait speed (can walk faster). • Reduces depressive thoughts and improves sleep. All of us talk about how we gain weight post 30, but we are losing muscle, so then what weight are we gaining? That of fat. But you cannot measure fatness on the weighing scale. So get off the weighing scale and get under a squat rack. Notes on strength/ weight training – 1. If you have never weight trained before - Start now. Schedule a meeting with an expert trainer at a local gym and begin with once a week routine. You can also use the beginner’s routine from ‘Don’t lose out, workout.’ You must especially start if you already have insulin resistance, are very obese, have a heart condition, bone loss or diabetes. That much more important for older adults (men and women). 2. If you are already training but are not regular - Get regular and dedicate at least 2 times a week to strength training. This is especially crucial for all those who have PCOD, breakouts, menopausal or have thyroid. Focus on bringing in progressive overload into your workouts. Read more about it in the ‘Strength training’ chapter of ‘Don’t lose out, workout’ and follow the intermediate routine. 3. If you are training 3 or more days a week - Shabash! Drop your reps to 5-8 and focus on the intensity or the actual weight you subject your muscles to (advanced routine from ‘Don’t lose out, work out’). The biggest gains of strength training come from the load bearing that you train your muscles to do. The fitness project 2018 - Week 2 Guideline From the shastras to your nanis and dadis and now even the Sunday Mail of London sing its glories. It keeps your company from birth to death, in sickness and health and through the good and the bad. Its been maligned by the food and the weight loss industry for the longest time, demonised even by the medical and the pharma industry but Satya aur ghee ki hamesha jeet hoti hai. So here comes the guideline for week 2 - Eat ghee. Without fear, without guilt, without doubt. Add 1 tsp of ghee to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Especially useful for - PCOD, Diabetes and Heart diseases, BP, acidity, weak joints, constipation, IBS. Notes - 1. You can have your breakfast about 20-90 mins post the first meal that you are following from week 1. 2. Add an extra tsp of ghee to lunch if you have sweet cravings or experience post afternoon slump where you feel that you are operating on 50% of potential. 3. Add an extra tsp of ghee to dinner if you wake up feeling constipated, have IBS or digestion issues in general or suffer from poor sleep quality. 4. Some other ways to add ghee, especially in winters to keep the joints supple and skin glowing are - - have ghee roasted makhanas as a mid meal around chai time, say 4pm - Goond laddoos made in ghee especially if you live in North- India or in parts of the world with harsh winters as a mid morning meal, 2-3 hrs post breakfast - Ghee & jaggery as post lunch or dinner if you suffer from PMS, fatigue or low Hb levels. Tip 1 Drink a warm glass of water with lemon every single morning when you first wake up on an empty stomach. Tip 2 Sleep. You need to be sleeping at least eight hours per night and some body types need to sleep up to nine hours per night. If you’re not getting enough sleep, you are going to pack on the pounds and they are not going to come off, not even with exercise. Tip 3 As you age, you may notice that you carry more weight in your mid section. There is this small or sometimes large spare tire that seems to go nowhere no matter how much you exercise. The answer I’m going to give you today is ‘No, not completely.’ That may make some of you happy to hear! In fact, when it comes to the question “Does alcohol make you fat,” it’s not actually the alcohol that causes you the problems. There are 4 predominant issues that I cover in this video and below that actually cause you to gain weight if you drink often. Let’s dive on in and find out what they are! **Problem #1 - Blunted liver processing and metabolism When you drink alcohol, your body considers it a poison and focuses its efforts on metabolizing it before anything else. Because of this, the livers' job of metabolizing fat is severely blunted. Studies have shown that this process, necessary to stop your body from storing excess fat, can be affected by up to 75%! Also, when your liver is busy trying to metabolize alcohol, it gets severely depleted of your vitamin and mineral resource, especially B vitamins. One particular symptom of a lack of Vitamin B is tiredness. Think back to your last hangover – Now you probably understand why you felt so tired! **Problem #2 - Increased storage of fat from food and sugary drinks Building on top of weight gain and alcohol problem #1 comes the issue of fat being stored more readily due to the blunting of your liver function to metabolize fat. During times of drinking alcohol you should be more choosy about what you eat, opting for foods that are higher in Protein, but lower in Carbs and Fat. Even a meal that you would normally think of as healthy, such as salad, avocado, and salmon, could end up causing you to store more fat. That moves us to the next problem. **Problem #4 - A negative effect on hormones When it comes to weight gain and alcohol, this problem is a big one too. If you’ve been around our channel or our website, you’ll know that hormones have a massive impact on your weight loss efforts. Even after just 2 or 3 drinks, alcohol lowers Human Growth Hormone and Testosterone levels, while increasing levels of Estrogen.
