Tirosint is a T4 only thyroid medication but with some twists. Many patients report significant improvement in hypothyroid symptoms when switching from T4 only medications like Levothyroxine and Synthroid over to Tirosint. But how can that be? Especially when Tirosint is a T4 only medication? This occurs for several reasons: 1) Inactive ingredients - + Levothyroxine and Synthroid contain MANY inactive ingredients (complete list in the video) which your body may be reacting to and limiting absorption. These inactive ingredients may be causing negative side effects that mimic hypothyroidism or limit your ability to reach the optimal dose. Tirosint has 3 inactive ingredients and 1 active ingredient making it the "cleanest" thyroid medication (T4 only). 2) Decreased absorption - + Due to these inactive ingredients the absorption of Levothyroxine and Synthroid may be inferior to that of Tirosint. The fewer inactive ingredients means the more thyroid hormone that will be absorbed which means the better you symptoms will be. This is also very important for hypothyroid patients who have GI related conditions such as SIBO/SIFO, GERD and low stomach acid. Tirosint is more easily absorbed and utilized than other forms of thyroid hormone due to these reasons. Who should consider using Tirosint? - Patients with GI related issues - Patients who don't tolerate Synthroid or Levothyroxine - Patients with multiple sensitivities or food allergies - Patients with Leaky gut or increased intestinal permeability - Patients who don't tolerate T3 containing medications like NDT and/or liothyronine/cytomel - Patients who are extremely sensitive to medications and supplements - Patients who have experienced some improvement on Levothyroxine or Synthroid but still have room for improvement If you have any questions please leave your comments below and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks! In this video, I go over the complete list of Levothyroxine side effects ranging from weight gain to hair loss and everything in between. Yes, Levothyroxine can cause hair loss and it can also cause weight GAIN. How can that be if levothyroxine is supposed to boost your metabolism? In this video I explain how the metabolism of thyroid hormone in your body from T4 to reverse T3 may help explain why many people actually gain weight on this particular medication. I also go over the recommendations I give to patients if this happens to them. I also go over how to determine which thyroid medication is right for YOUR Body and how to dose your levothyroxine. When patients have reactions to levothyroxine it's from 1 of 3 reasons typically: 1) they are reacting to a filler ingredient or a dye within the medication itself. 2) they are converting or metabolizing the thyroid hormone into by products that don't promote proper activity 3) they are getting too much thyroid hormone for THEIR body (this one is less common) The side effects when patients react to fillers or dyes include reactions like facial swelling, edema, hives, itching sensation, etc. The side effects from improper metabolism include reactions like weight gain, hair loss, slower than normal metabolism, cold hands/extremities, etc. The side effects from TOO much medication include hot flashes, tachycardia or rapid heart rate, palpitations, hair loss, intolerance to heat. The treatment for each of these reactions is quite different and I explain what to do depending on how you are reacting. Leave your questions below! In this video I explain how to convert from armour thyroid to levothyroxine or from levothyroxine to T3. It is based off of a thyroid conversion chart that I create which is more accurate than the traditional conversion chart used by most Doctors. If you can convince your Doctor to switch you from Levothyroxine or T4 to NDT then make sure you are getting the right dose. Many providers and patients make the mistake of lowering their total dose of thyroid hormone when doing this process and feel worse afterwards. By using the chart above you can get the proper dose of NDT, T4 or Armour thyroid when converting. Here are some basic guidelines: In these examples NDT = Armour thyroid, WP thyroid or Naturethroid 50mcg of T4 = 1 grain of NDT = 25 mcg of T3 100mcg of T4 = 2 grains of NDT = 50mcg of T3 150mcg of T4 = 3 grains of NDT = 75mcg of T3 200mcg of T4 = 4 grains of NDT = 100mcg of T3 In addition I also give some practical advice on how to switch from T4 only medications like Levothyroxine to Natural Desiccated thyroid medications like Armour thyroid. In general I recommend starting the titration slow and periodically increasing your total dose every 10-14 days to prevent negative side effects from the T3. I also go over some of the average dosages of patients on T4, NDT and T3 in my practice. These numbers vary based off of the individual but these ranges can help determine if your dose is high enough. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: http://www.restartmed.com/levothyroxine-dosage/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. In this video I go over the 5 main reasons that patients who switch from Levothyroxine to Armour thyroid DON'T lose weight. Many patients believe that switching from T4 to NDT will cause immediate weight loss and are disappointed when it doesn't happen. The truth is that Armour thyroid CAN help with weight loss but you need to make sure that these 5 barriers aren't standing in your way: 1. Your dose isn't high enough - Many Doctors under dose patients when converting from T4 medication to NDT by about 50%. Use the chart in this video to make sure your dose is high enough. 2. You need more T3 added to your regimen - Several conditions like euthyroid sick syndrome or tissue level hypothyroidism make it so patients need more T3 than what Armour thyroid provides. So while armour may be a step in the right direction you may need more T3 added to your NDT. 3. You are suffering from Leptin resistance - High leptin levels decrease T4 to T3 conversion and can make weight loss impossible unless it is addressed. Use this video to help you find out if you have leptin resistance and if you need to treat it. 4. You are reacting to fillers in Armour thyroid - Many patients react poorly to the methylcellulose that is used in Armour thyroid. It can reduce the amount of free thyroid hormone that is absorbed when you take this medication. Make sure this isn't limiting the amount of thyroid hormone your body can absorb! 5. Your Reverse T3 is TOO high - High levels of reverse T3 effectively put the brake on your thyroid system and can result in a slow metabolism and symptoms of hypothyroidism. Taking T4 only medications and even sometimes NDT like armour thyroid can cause high levels of reverse T3. Find out how to treat and check for this condition. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: http://www.restartmed.com/armour-thyroid-weight-loss/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Ashwagandha helps in boosting immunity and especially gives very good results and gives very good result in controlling autoimmunity. Autoimmunity is your body’s own cells starts destroying your thyroid tissue and that is what leads to reduced production of thyroid hormones and your TSH levels rises. Thyroid levels after testing even though they are controlled including ashwagandha in your routine will do several things. Ashwagandha boosts digestion. So digestion being one of the major causes for every hormonal imbalance ashwagandha included in your routine twice daily as a powder or as a tablet or as a capsule will enhance digestion and helps the body have better hormonal balance not just in your thyroid but all glands of the body. Also ashwagandha will help in strengthening the immune responses in the body because of which any autoimmune activity which is going on in the body will be brought under control. But this might take several months. So the regular blood tests that you undergo have to be done to see whether your autoimmune levels are under control also ashwagandha is a very powerful rejuvenative herb. Any damage that may have caused to the body because of pollution or wrong diet and lifestyle can be rectified when you take ashwagandha over a long period of time. There are no contraindications to ashwagandha while you are on allopathy medications provided you take it with the recommendations of an ayurvedic physician. Do get yourself evaluated first. Make sure you are safe for taking ashwagandha. If there are any coexisting conditions which make ashawagandha contraindicated for you do get it evaluated first because from person to person there always can be a difference and then start ashwagandha. The only contraindication to it on an individual level may be if you are experiencing too much of body heat or burning sensation in hands and soles and high levels of acidity and a very poor digestion you might have to rectify that first before including ashwagandha because directly starting ashwagandha may trigger some sort of hyperactivity in the stomach. Also ashwagandha is extremely good for adrenal fatigue. That is because of stress levels and a poor management of stress which can also be a cause of autoimmune thyroiditis. You can experience poor energy level in the morning and constant fatigue. Ashwagandha is a must have herb and it can be life changing to include ashwagandha in such conditions. https://curaayurveda.wordpress.com/ https://youtu.be/c_DvSzn42u0

NCLEX Nursing Precautions Drug information provided by: Micromedex It is very important that your doctor check the progress of you or your child at regular visits. This will allow your doctor to see if the medicine is working properly and to decide if you should continue to take it. Blood tests will be needed to check for unwanted effects. Levothyroxine should not be used for the treatment of obesity or for the purpose of losing weight. This medicine is not effective for weight reduction. If taken in large amounts, levothyroxine may cause serious unwanted effects. Hypothyroidism can sometimes cause infertility in men and women. Levothyroxine should not be used for the treatment of infertility unless it is caused by hypothyroidism. For patients with diabetes: It is very important that you keep track of your blood or urine sugar levels as instructed by your doctor. Check with your doctor right away if you notice any changes in your sugar levels. If you think you have become pregnant while using this medicine, tell your doctor right away. You may need a larger dose of levothyroxine while you are pregnant. Women who use this medicine for a long time may have some bone loss, which could lead to osteoporosis. Talk with your doctor if you have questions or concerns about this. Call your doctor right away if you or your child start to have rapid or irregular heartbeats, chest pain, shortness of breath, leg cramps, headaches, nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, tremors, a change in appetite, weight gain or loss, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive sweating, heat intolerance, a fever, changes in menstrual periods, hives, or a skin rash. These could be symptoms of too much medicine in your body. Do not suddenly stop taking this medicine without first checking with your doctor. Your doctor may want you or your child to gradually reduce the amount you are using before stopping completely. Make sure any doctor or dentist who treats you knows that you or your child are using this medicine. You or your child may need to stop using this medicine several days before having surgery or medical tests. A temporary loss of hair may occur during the first few months of levothyroxine therapy. Ask your doctor about this if you have any concerns. Do not take other medicines unless they have been discussed with your doctor. This includes prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines and herbal or vitamin supplements.

http://www.TheHypothyroidDiet.com is where you can get the truth about hypothyroidism. Thyroid medication like synthroid doesn't work for everyone. Some alternatives include armour thyroid which contains T3 as well as thyroxine. The bottom line is your thyroid treatment should contain a combination of thyroid hormones. http://youtu.be/hewpl3Dbc1A

https://phoenixvitamins.com/ Under-active thyroid or hypothyroid has become a very common occurrence in society. It is estimated that as many as 5% of the population have a hypothyroid condition and as many as another 5% may be borderline low thyroid. Of all of these people, 80% or 8 out of 10 are women. While we dont know exactly why this is completely, but we do know that hypothyroid is both genetic and hereditary, meaning that it is often passed from one generation to the other, mostly on the maternal side of the bloodlines. In fact, if you are female, and have other females in your family line such as mother, sisters, aunts, grandmother, etc., who have had hypothyroid; your chances are much higher that you too, will develop this condition some time in your life. Hypothyroid or low thyroid can produce a wide variety of symptoms. The most common include Depression, Poor Circulation, Poor Stamina, Low Energy, Dry Hair, Dry Skin, High Cholesterol, Brain Fog, Digestive Disorders, Weight Gain and many others. Since the symptoms of hypothyroid can also be those of other disorders, diagnosing hypothyroid can be elusive. Since the thyroid gland is linked with many other glands and glandular systems within the body, when the thyroid is not functioning properly it can affect other glands and their function as well. One of the main functions of the thyroid is to produce thyroxin or thyroid hormone. This chemical, while performing many functions, is primarily the regulator of the metabolism. A sluggish or under-active thyroid will almost always produce a low body temperature and weight gain. It will also be very difficult for these individuals to lose excess weight once they have gained it. Even a slight reduction in resting metabolic rate of say, 3%, can, over time, make weight loss difficult. If you have several or all of the symptoms of low thyroid such as Depression, Poor Circulation, Poor Stamina, Low Energy, Dry Hair, Dry Skin, High Cholesterol, Brain Fog, Digestive Disorders, and Weight Gain, you may wish to take the Barnes Temperature Test for hypothyroid. Begin by placing a fever thermometer by your bedside before going to bed at night. When you awaken in the morning do not move about or get out of bed, but simply stay still and place the thermometer under your arm for 10 minutes. Remove the thermometer and read & record your temperature. Do this for a week and average your temperature. If your average reading on the temperature test for hypothyroid is 97.5 degrees you have a chance of having at least a sluggish thyroid. If however, the temperature test for hypothyroid averages 97 degrees or less, it is almost assured that you have a low thyroid condition. You should then see your doctor for a blood test. But beware, you must ask for the right blood test to be really sure. When you go to the doctor with symptoms of hypothyroid such as Depression, Poor Circulation, Poor Stamina, Low Energy, Dry Hair, Dry Skin, High Cholesterol, Brain Fog, Digestive Disorders, and Weight Gain, he will likely perform a blood test to measure what is called Thyroid Stimulating Hormone or TSH. This test alone is not enough to tell the whole story of your thyroid function. Testing for thyroid stimulating hormone or TSH can be very deceiving and many people with normal thyroid stimulating hormone or TSH levels still have an under-active thyroid and because the test is normal, go untreated and are forced to live with a long list of symptoms that can impact the quality of their lives. You want to be sure and ask for a full panel thyroid test that also measures T3 and T4 hormones. If your test does come back low, your doctor will likely prescribe thyroid hormone. Almost without fail you will receive a synthetic version of the hormone instead of a natural thyroid medication. Natural thyroid treatments are not often considered by physicians and this is sad as many people do much better with natural thyroid medicines.

After coming to see Dr. Patrick Ray for just a few months, Jillian has been able to completely get off her thyroid medication. To learn more about chiropractic services at Chiropractic Plus in Thornton, CO, visit http://cochiropractor.com/our-chiropractic-services/. Hi! My name is Jullian. I'm 25. I started Maximized Living four months ago. I've always been interested in going to a chiropractor. I've played rugby for five years, so my body's been through a lot of impact and stress. And I was invited to an informative dinner and once I heard what Dr. Ray had to say and how the body should be working, and the importance of nerve supply, I knew I had to go and change my life. And that was the day. Since I started I noticed a lot of results. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and acid reflux three years ago and had to take two pills a day for each of those. And even after a week I noticed my acid reflux was decreasing, my energy was increasing. And I just wake up now and I'm energized and, slowly I started to, get off of my Synthroid. Dr. Ray put me on a detox and thyroid supplement. And now I can say that I don't take those two pills anymore and I'm so excited about that because I thought I had to take them for the rest of my life. And I'm just continuing with the process because the results after four months...I can't wait to see how I'm going to feel, what it's going to be like once I'm subluxation free. So, I'm really excited and I'm so happy! So I just wanted to say thank you.
