Easy To Grow Air Plants Care / My Air Plant Tillandsia Collection tips and tricks for happy Plants. Tillandsia is a genus of around 540 species of evergreen, perennial flowering plants in the family Bromeliaceae, native to the forests, mountains and deserts of Central and South America, the southern United States and the West Indies. The thinner-leafed varieties grow in rainy areas and the thick-leafed varieties in areas more subject to drought. Moisture and nutrients are gathered from the air (dust, decaying leaves and insect matter) through structures on the leaves called trichomes. Tillandsia species are epiphytes (also called aerophytes or air plants) -- i.e. they normally grow without soil while attached to other plants. Epiphytes are not parasitic, depending on the host only for support. -wikipedia ORCHID CARE, CARNIVOROUS PLANT CULTURE, GARDENS, GREENHOUSES & MORE... Hosted By Brad Taylor... You probably have at least one box of baking soda in your home – if you’re like so many other Americans, it’s most likely sitting in your refrigerator as a way to combat odors, and you might have another carton in your pantry for baking. But there are so many other uses for it, from household cleaning and health to gardening, you might want to go out and purchase at least a couple more. Here is what baking soda can do to your garden. 1.Get more beautiful blooms. For flowers that thrive in alkaline soil, such as hydrangeas, begonias, and geraniums, you can encourage them to bloom magnificently by using baking soda. Just dissolve a little baking soda in your water before giving them their regular drink. Also to keep your cut flowers fresh for a long time put a teaspoon of baking soda in the vase. 2. Sweeter Tomatoes. Sprinkle a small amount of baking-soda around the base of your tomato plants. The baking soda will be absorbed into the soil and lowers the acidity level of tomatoes, thus gives you sweeter than tart flavor. 3.Give Plants a Boost. Mix together 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon clear ammonia and 1 teaspoon Epsom salt in a gallon of water. Mix well and give each plant about a quart of the solution. This solution will work as a fertilizer, the plants that are looking dull, and growing slowly will perk up, rejuvenate their growth and become lush green. 4.Use it as a Pesticide. Use baking soda to effectively reduce infestations of many insects such as aphids, scales, and the spider mites. It may not kill them all but have a repellent action and halt their progress. Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/3 cup of olive or mustard oil. Measure out 2 teaspoons of this mix and add it to 1 cup of water. Mix it well together and spray it on the infected plants. 5.Smelly compost. To keep the smell from a compost pile under control, use a small amount of baking soda which will eliminate the odor and prevent acidity build up – just use it sparingly as too much can slow the composting process. 6.Kill crabgrass and discourage weeds. If you have weeds or crabgrass growing in cracks on sidewalks, edges, patios or garden beds, you can use baking soda to get rid of them. It’s able to kill small weeds that have already sprouted, as well as to prevent new weeds from coming up. It will burn unwanted foliage, and feeds should disappear within just a few days. Just pour a thick layer onto the weeds and crabgrass after moistening it with water. Sweep the baking soda in a thick layer into any concrete cracks. 7.Test Soil pH. Take some soil on a dish and make it muddier. Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda onto the soil. If the combination bubbles, your soil is acidic. To learn more visit To learn more visit http:\\www.ruralgardener.co.uk today. The video introduces the idea of using a sand box and how to take softwood cuttings on a large scale using sharp sand. It will put this in a little more context if you watch the first in the series. If you like what you see would you mind hitting the 'Like' button please as we're planning on releasing a lot more videos as the nursery starts to come together. Thanks! J. For more info head over to www.ruralgardener.co.uk Note: If you thinking of selling plants you need to research something called Plant Breeders Rights. Basically it's a law that was introduced to protect the rights of plant breeders ... a sort of patent for plants if you like. Essentially it made it illegal to propagate plants for profit ... but the good news is there are loads of plants out there that were around before Plant Breeders Rights were introduced that you CAN propagate. My advice is: 1. Always read the label on any plant that you buy. It will clearly state if the plant is subject to Plant Breeders Rights. 2. Look for the older varieties and you should have no problems with propagating them. 3. Propagate these older varieties so other growers can access these unprotected varieties. The more 'protected plants' that are introduced to the market the more demand there will be for the 'unprotected' varieties.

When Celebration saw its first residents move into town during the summer of 1996, everything seemed great. The town center was beautiful, the houses looked idyllic, the streets cozy and inviting. It was figuratively a Main Street USA that you could actually live in. However it wouldn’t be long before the flaws and troubles of the town began to surface and it would start to receive criticism from the outside. What was meant to be a perfect town was apparently not so perfect. New here? It would hurt their bottom line since they had to pay the third party companies to do the building, but the benefit was that they wouldn’t have to manage the logistics of constructing thousands of homes over the decade or so they expected it would take to complete the town. So they reached out to a number of different companies who specialized in home construction and put them to work as fast as they could, and while that speedy construction would prove helpful in the growth of Celebration, it would ultimately hurt the homes themselves. Problems with the houses began to spring up, and they ranged from small issues like outlets not working to major ones like leaking roofs and moldy walls. Many residents found themselves requesting repair after repair. Some of the contractors would later argue that a large factor in the sub-par construction was the time crunch they were under and the sheer number of homes they had to complete. On top of that, the quick turnaround between planning and building meant that many of the out-of-state companies had no time to foster working relationships with good local subcontractors who would provide quality building supplies and additional labor. They also claimed that having to stick to Disney’s strict style guidelines ultimately slowed them down and increased costs. Lastly, Celebration came about at a time where there was a housing boom in central Florida, which led to a shortage in skilled workers who really knew what they were doing. Some outlets, like the Tampa Tribune, also made the case that perception played a big role in how bad the situation looked. Many of these homeowners were die-hard Disney fans, and they bought into the idea of a house in Disney’s town on Disney’s property with the idea that Disney would be the ones involved and taking care of everything. Yet the reality of the situation was that once that contract was signed, it was pretty much out Disney’s hands. Wisteria, a beautiful, rampant, home wrecker can be purchased here http://amzn.to/2t2Jhjl Spring is the time of year for us all to breathe in the light refreshing scent of Wisteria. The single season of this plant’s positive impact on the landscape should be noted, and the fast-growing vine given its due. There are few plants with the visual and olfactory presence of a Wisteria in full bloom, and for the two weeks that it does flower, one’s hat should be off and a smile should be well-displayed upon one’s face. Ah, but pity the unsuspecting homeowner who dares yield to the temptation of planting the creeping demon. This vigorous, athletic, dynamic and strenuous grower has been known to rip the shingles off of the roof, tear apart the soffits and undermine the siding of more than one innocent domicile. It will send underground runners for dozens of yards into previously virgin unsullied garden, to pop up with innocent-looking dainty tendrils. It will climb up trees, strangling vascular systems, adding weight in a storm and overtopping them for sunlight. It will grow at night when the gardener sleeps, or it will pose as a well-behaved grammar school student for weeks of the growing season, to transform into a raging despot as soon as the mail piles up during the gardener’s vacation. Do you detect a bit of animus on my part towards this plant? Is there a ‘history,’ a ‘back-story’ that explains this diatribe? Indeed, I have struggled with this plant in more than one location and in almost every summer of my gardening career. Hold on, now wait, let’s forgive if not forget for a moment, and stop to take in its outstanding May raiment. The lightly fragrant purple to blue-violet flowers hanging in draped racemes along the arbor, fence or gate are almost a symbol of May’s bounteous beauty. The heavy coils of flowers attract honey bees and other pollinators on sunny days. Wisteria can be purchased in a pot from garden centers, or you can dig up (with permission of course) a rooted cutting from your neighbor who would love to have you remove some from his or her garden. My advice is to build yourself a sturdy trellis just for this plant, and put it far enough away from the house to avoid the problems mentioned above, but also where you can see it from the kitchen window, to encourage anyone who loves the plant to do the dishes more often. Near a sitting area would be nice, as the shade from a Wisteria is deep enough to snooze under on a midsummer afternoon, yet dappled enough to enjoy some warmth in September. You can train your plant into a tree form which will help keep it in control somewhat. I like the trunk of the tree form, as it holds up a seemingly impossible mass of foliage and flowers, resembling something Dr. Seuss would illustrate in a book. Plant in full sun for best flowering, in any good well-drained garden soil. Sometimes Wisteria will quit flowering unexpectedly. This could be the result of improper pruning, and sometimes it is just contrariness on the part of the plant. ‘Shocking’ the thing is recommended. Take a spade or sharp shovel and root prune the vine, inscribing a circle about a foot away from the trunk, and severing the roots in a dotted pattern around the circumference. In other words, do not dig a trench but an interrupted trench, and only do this once every three years or so. THAT will remind it that you are willing to battle its propensity for proliferation, but you will damn well get some flowering out of it or there will be consequences. Wisteria is a member of the Pea family, Fabaceae, but it should be noted that its fruit is poisonous. There are about ten species, including W.sinensis and W. floribunda, the Chinese and Japanese Wisteria respectively. The genus is named for Caspar Wistar (1761-1818), an American professor of anatomy. We're working on a scratch-and-sniff feature for these videos, so that you can experience the aroma emanating from this plant. Light but intoxicating, there is no finer flowering vine, if it weren’t for its obnoxious nature. Kind of like having a beautiful teenager in the house, but Wisteria never grows out of it AND never ever leaves home.

Small businesses in Florida build our economy. Small businesses in Florida create jobs. Small businesses in Florida help ideas take flight. Since 2011, Florida's private sector businesses have created over 1 million jobs. The majority of these jobs have been created by businesses with fewer than 20 employees. In Florida, the future really is here; it is now. In the last five years, we've seen a remarkable economic turnaround. Our unemployment rate is down to five percent. We are seeing that businesses across the state are growing. They’re building. They have confidence in the economy. And small businesses are a huge part of that. Small businesses are the lifeblood of Florida's economy. They help create new markets, transform communities, and stimulate economic growth. But their challenges and their obstacles are diverse. Here in Florida. we come together to help our businesses grow. Working in partnership with SBDC to continue to grow the economy and good paying jobs in our state. When we talk about collaboration, it's not a catchphrase. It's not a buzz word. It's how we implement the ideas and the plans for business success. By working together as a unified business community, we can rise above these challenges and prepare Florida for a brighter economic future. http://geodesic-greenhouse-kits.com Free e-book http://geodesic-greenhouse-kits.com/landingpage/ggk-ebook/ In this video, Udgar covers 7 ways to keep your greenhouse cool. He covers the unique methods the Growing Dome employs to keep a Growing Dome, when properly used and maintained, cooler than the outside temperature in the middle of summer. Udgar helps determine the proper technique for taking the temperature in your greenhouse, and how to tell if it is too hot based on what the plants are doing. He describes the benefit of large leaf plants in the Growing Dome. They shade the soil and act as evaporative coolers. He describes how the water tank in the Growing Dome helps maintain cool temperatures. He shows how air flow is generated in the Growing Dome with a screen door, passive vents/windows that open and close based on the temperature and actual fans either from grid electricity or solar panels. Furthermore, he covers the unique undersoil system that helps cool the air, and the importance of using a shade cloth. And finally, Udgar covers the use of water either from a swamp cooler or a misting system. With the techniques described in this video, you can keep your greenhouse cool even in the middle of summer. =================================================== Free e-book http://geodesic-greenhouse-kits.com/landingpage/ggk-ebook/

Watch more How to Get into the Restaurant Business videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/506560-How-to-Calculate-StartUp-Costs-Restaurant-Business Let's talk about calculating the start-up costs of your restaurant. This is a place where you can not be too detailed. Everything is important. Even the box of pencils that you buy to do your staff training. Every little detailed cost will come into play, because unfortunately you won't get revenue until you open, and you're going to need to pay for all of those things without any income to offset them. And also, in the beginning of the life of a restaurant, it's rarely as busy as you want it to be, or as it will become. One of the most significant start-up costs will be construction. Now if you're taking over an existing restaurant, your construction costs might not be too great. But if you're starting with a raw space, the engineering, the ventilation, the plumbing, all will add an extraordinary amount to your construction costs. And unfortunately, it's usually more than you want it to be. Additionally, you're going to need to have staff in place and on payroll in advance of your actual opening. You probably will want to hire your senior staff earliest, then your managers, and then your hourly staff later and closer to the opening. But everybody need to have time to be trained in their position and in the space before you open, or opening night could be a disaster and you could create a very bad first impression. Additionally, there are all the other costs that are involved in equipping a restaurant. Kitchen equipment, refrigeration, stoves, mixers, small utensils. And then all of the equipment that's needed in the dining room. Tables, chairs, glassware, plate ware, service ware, silverware, all of those cost money and need to be brought in before you open. An important thing to remember with supplying your restaurant with equipment, is you don't need it all to open. You can reorder. You may have a need for fewer pieces of equipment to get open, than you need a year or two down the road. Don't buy equipment because you think it's cool. Buy the equipment you need and do that first and grow the restaurant's equipment as the restaurant grows. So once you've done a wonderful, detailed, thorough job of estimating all of your start-up costs, it's important to remember that things are going to happen. Things are not going to go exactly the way you want, maybe your gas doesn't get turned on the day you expect it to, or you're unable to get your permits in time to open. So you need to build in a contingency. You need to build in some percentage of additional costs for your opening. Something's going to happen with construction. Something's going to happen with what's required. And you want to have some cash that you planned on for those things that happen. Unfortunately. Once you have all of your start-up costs prepared, it's important to start thinking about how they'll get paid for, when the bills will come due, and how that will dove-tail with your revenue as you start operating your restaurant, and all those start-up costs lead to that wonderful moment, when you open the doors and start feeding people and making them happy.
