Be Brave Childhood Cancer Awareness iPhone App

00:30
Hearing four simple words can change a family forever: Your child has cancer. On average, 46 families in the United States hear that diagnosis every day. Now iPhone users can help some of those families by downloading a new photo-sharing app offered by the Be Brave Foundation. The Be Brave Foundation provides financial support to the families of young cancer patients in Central Florida. Fighting cancer often stretches families to their breaking point emotionally, spiritually and financially. They incur an ongoing stream of expenses not covered by insurance – which is an added burden that takes their attention away from focusing on the young patient and his or her siblings. The foundation recently launched an iPhone photo app (https://appsto.re/us/LfNN5.i) allowing users to decorate pictures with frames that show support for childhood cancer fighters, and then share them through social media networks. The company releasing the app, Brave Designs, donates their portion of each 99-cent download directly to the Be Brave Foundation, allowing the group to provide more assistance to families battling pediatric cancer. “My wife and I started our foundation in June of 2014 after spending the previous 14 months watching our son battle cancer from the age of 3½,” said Jeremy Chambers, co-founder of the Be Brave Foundation. “Now that he is doing well, this foundation and the app are simply our way of giving back to help other families, to raise the level of awareness, and hopefully bring more funding towards a cure for childhood cancer.” Since June of 2014, the volunteer staff at Be Brave has raised more than $70,000 and provided financial relief to more than 100 families. About Be Brave Be Brave Foundation provides financial assistance to families in Central Florida with a child battling cancer. By removing some of the financial burden associated with treating pediatric cancer, families can focus on their child’s care and condition. The foundation also accepts donated new and gently used portable electronic devices to provide patients with educational and entertainment outlets during treatment.

World Child Cancer

04:45
A film on the excellent work of the UK charity World Child Cancer in Dhaka, Bangladesh in the paediatric oncology ward of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujiz Medical University. World Child Cancer helps some of the poorest children worldwide access cancer diagnosis and care. Often in the developing world, childhood cancer is not diagnosed or is diagnosed too late for effective treatment to take place. A large percentage of children with cancer never reach a specialist centre to receive care, treatment and pain relief. These children, and their families, struggle to reach appropriate treatment, and then face the huge financial burden that a cancer diagnosis brings. The organisation develops twinning partnerships between hospitals in the developing world and childhood cancer hospitals in the developed world. Through these partnerships valuable expertise is shared in order to build the capacity and knowledge of local doctors and nurses. In nine programmes across Africa, Asia, and central America, support and funding is provided for awareness programmes, advocacy with policy-makers, treatment costs, ward equipment, essential staff posts and help to build the resilience of families during an extremely difficult time.

Michael's Way: Our Mission

02:14
Our mission is to improve the lives of children with pediatric cancer and to support their parents struggling under the financial strain of such a devastating diagnosis. Michael’s Way was founded in 2002 by Chris McElwee in memory of his late brother, Michael, who lost his battle with leukemia at the age of 25. Chris was working on a job site when he became inspired with an idea. He met a man who had lost his house shortly after his son was diagnosed with leukemia. It was then that Chris researched how many organizations supported families affected by cancer with their non-medical bills. Non-medical out-of-pocket expenses associated with providing treatment for the cancer child have been shown to average 38% of the family’s gross annual income. However, there are very few charities in the Philadelphia area that reimburse non-medical expenses and the maximum amount paid out to families is often very low. Michael’s Way was founded to fill this need. Since its inception, Michael’s Way has raised more than $6 million to lessen the financial hardships of hundreds of families whose children are suffering from cancer. 100% of money raised, as well as private donations and grants received from foundations goes directly to the families, not to overhead. We try to ease the financial burden, so that families can concentrate on the real battle — saving their child’s life. In 2014 Chris was honored with NASCAR's Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award nomination. The award honors the unwavering commitment that The NASCAR Foundation’s Chairwoman, Betty Jane France, has demonstrated through philanthropy and community service. The annual award is presented to a dedicated NASCAR fan that has made a profound impact on the lives of children in his or her local community. Through the generous prize money and amazing individual contributions from the likes of Joey Logano and many other, we have opened our newest chapter in Charlotte, NC.

Help Save Artem - World Cancer Day 2015 fundraising campaign

03:57
DONATE TO SAVE ARTEM'S LIFE: http://gogetfunding.com/project/help-save-artem Dear Friends, On the 4th of February is the World Cancer Day. Needless to say, there is no family around the world that wouldn't deal with this deadly and scary disease. The World Cancer Day coincided with our fundraising to save a life of a 4 year boy Artem, son of our friends. Buoyant, energetic and a little bit shy Tema has been bravely fighting with his frightening diagnosis – acute lymphoblastic leukemia since October 2014. The disease not only changed the life of Artem’s family, but it is a heavy financial burden for the both boy’s parents Julia and Ruslan. All treatments, the expensive medications and the search for the blood donors in Ukraine are responsibilities of Artem’s parents. Unfortunately, without our financial support this family has no chance to save their son’s life. My dear friend’s, this gesture of solidarity is the least I can do to express my empathy to Artem Kravchenko and all people who are going through the difficult and painful procedures to fight for their lives with cancer. I admire the hundreds of our friends in Canada, USA, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Israel, all of those bighearted people who decided to help and already donated money for Artem’s treatment. With your generous help, my dear friends, we received more than $8000. Every cent and every dollar from this amount can be crucial in a very important matter – saving life of a 4 year child. However, we need more of your help! I would like to express my gratitude to a Mix TV company and Salon Modele, especially to its lovely owner Victoria Roll, for a great opportunity to make this happen. A great thank you to Tatiana Subbotina as she was one of the first who responded to our call for help. From the depths of my heart, I am grateful to my business partner Michael Tulchenetskiy who is not only helping Artem but took additional front of work while I am being busy with the fundraising. I am grateful to my wife Natasha and my boys for the support and help with the organization of this charity event. My dears, let’s forget for a moment about those wiredrawn problems which only disconnect all of us and let’s unite to face a really serious challenge. I strongly believe with all our collaboration we can fight cancer! Any monetary donation is appreciated to save Artem’s life and to make the world cancer free for our children! Please visit our website helpsaveartem.com , connect to a Facebook group Help Save Artem and donate as much as you can. Please grant a chance Artem to survive! ‪#‎WorldCancerDay‬, ‪#‎HelpSaveArtem‬, ‪#‎NoHairSelfie‬

Robert F. Terry Jr. Foundation

05:30
The goal of the Robert F. Terry Jr. Foundation is to help families experiencing the devastating effects of pediatric brain tumors. In relation to other pediatric cancers, the number of children with brain tumors is relatively small, thereby limiting the financial assistance and research dollars available. The affects of pediatric brain tumors reach every aspect of a family's life. Families are permanently impacted emotionally, financially, and physically due their child's illness. Health insurance covers very little financially in the overall care of a child with a brain tumor. Resources beyond insurance via social programs are very limited and they rarely meet the needs of these families during such a difficult time. A stressful and exhaustive situation is often exacerbated by the climbing financial burden a sick child.

We intend to give the children terminally ill child in bedpositive life experiences by granting a wish and enabling them to do something they have only dreamt of before. Our other main aim is to provide practical and emotional support to both the children and their families. The healthcare system in Sri Lanka struggles to meet the needs of Terminilally ill child in bredcritically and terminally ill children. From medicines to provision of adequate healthy food, parents of sick children must pick up essential costs and often simply cannot afford to do so. When their children are in hospital, mothers are essentailly long-term carers, and will often stay with the child in hospital for long periods of time. When parents become full-time carers, they often lose their jobs and their income. As there is no benefit system in Sri Lanka, the result for parents and all the family's children is severe financial hardship.

F*CK Cancer Time Lapse

03:03
Lots of hours and thought into this piece. Lots of time thinking about someone I don't know, thinking about my close friends who have lost someone to cancer, thinking about the ones I've lost and thinking about people in remission. This painting was filmed over the course of a week and put up for auction at the #shredforfred event February 7th which was held in support for Fred Taylor, a 25 year old recently diagnosed with brain cancer. //// About Fred... Recently Fred suffered a seizure and an MRI revealed a large tumour on the front of his brain. Less than 12 hours later he had emergency surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible and surgeons we able to remove about 60% without causing major trauma to the brain. The tumour is an agressive type, with 100% recurrence rate. This means further surgeries and treatments are almost certain, and Fred will face a life long battle. Due to missing work and having to pay for expensive complimentary treatments that are not covered by health plans Fred will be faced with a large financial burden. To help alleviate the burden as much as we can, funds are being raised through a Go Fund me page as well as the Shred for Fred event held February 7th at Springhill. Tattoos for Breast Cancer Survivors | Help Launch a Nonprofit with me!

04:33
Tattoos can be a healing force for breast cancer survivors who've had a mastectomy/reconstruction. Help out at artfromscars.org 3D nipple tattoos can make reconstructed breasts look more real. Intricate designs can turn even the ugliest of scars into something beautiful. But after the financial burden of cancer treatment, many breast cancer patients are unable to afford these types of tattoos- and likely wouldn't know where or how to find a tattoo artist skilled in working on scars and/or radiated skin. YOU can help change that by becoming a founding sponsor of a nonprofit organization that will find and identify able tattoo artists (starting here in my home state of North Carolina) AND provide grants to cancer survivors who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford a tattoo. You can help turn their scars into art. I plan to expand the organization beyond North Carolina's borders once we're up & running smoothly- and eventually extend assistance to survivors of other forms of cancer that are living with scars from treatment.

Saving Laura - Fundraiser Event 1.16.2014

09:43
"Laura is a beautiful, smart and compassionate 7 year old girl. She enjoys swimming, soccer, reading books, playing with animals and spending time with family and friends. Recently, Laura was diagnosed with a brain tumour ( Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), known in the medical world as DIPG. It is a rare, inoperable and basically untreatable brain stem tumour that would take her life in months. Her parents, Janusz and Mira, are an amazing couple whose lives got shattered in an instant. Laura is their only child and their whole world. They couldn't believe that this is happening to their little girl; they were hopeful that the doctors made a wrong diagnosis and went for a second opinion. Unfortunately, this diagnosis was confirmed. Words cannot explain the feelings of hopelessness, frustration, and terror they felt when they had to be faced with the truth. Janusz and Mira are not giving up hope! They have taken Laura to The Burzynski Clinic in Houston, Texas. This clinic has seen significant improvement in patients facing similar diagnosis as Laura, using alternative therapies not available in Canada. However, the treatment is very expensive. The initial visit costs $25,000 and each month after is $30,000. The whole family will be in the US for at least 3 months, perhaps longer. Living arrangements have consisted of a room in a local church. They hope to move into a motel/hotel shortly. However, as you can imagine, the costs are increasing and the financial burden is numbing. This kind of medication is not covered by any insurance. They need our help! We are very grateful for each and every dollar donated. Thank you in advance for your generosity. This is our appeal and a petition to give generously and pray earnestly for Laura! Each and every initiative is priceless because it saves her life." savinglaura.com Please visit the website for Saving Laura and make a charitable donation. We are all cheering for you Laura! Welcome to Zanes Parade Foundation

Zane Beadles, #68 of the Denver Broncos, is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Utah. He started all four years of his college career on the offensive line and in 2010 was drafted to the Denver Broncos. Zane could not imagine living or playing in another city! Zane was quickly embraced by the Denver Community and now, in 2013, is proud to kick off Zane Beadles Parade Foundation. Zane's Parade Foundation focuses on enriching the lives of children who are faced with unfortunate situations by providing them with new experiences they would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in. Zane has selected the Elephant to represent his Foundation because Zane has found unique characteristics of this particular animal within himself. Elephants represent good luck, protection, inspiration, power and strength. These qualities are given to kids to overcome the obstacles in their lives. Zane believes, "Life is about the journey, not the destination." He will leave a footprint on your heart with his dedication and support! Zane has had a successful career with the Denver Broncos and here are the highlights at a glance: He is a fourth-year offensive guard who played all 16 regular-season games in each of his first three professional seasons. He ranks third among offensive linemen who entered the NFL in 2010 with 46 career starts. He is the only player, offensive or defensive, to participate in 100 percent of Denver's regular-season snaps (1,143) in 2012. He was tied for fifth among 16 game starting guards with only 1.0 sack allowed during the 2012 season. He opened all 16 games during the regular season and started both playoff contests for the Broncos in 2011, helping the league's top rushing offense (164.5 ypg.) set the franchise single-season rushing record. The Sporting News' All-Rookie Team in 2010 appointed Zane after opening eight contests at left guard and six contests at right tackle, becoming the first NFL rookie since Andre Gurode (Dal. 2002) to start at least six games at two of the three positions along the offensive line (C, G, T). He was selected as a member of the 2013 AFC Pro Bowl Team. In 2012, Zane was selected to represent the Denver Broncos for the NFL wide Walter Payton Man of the Year award. He was nominated for his outstanding community service and support. Currently, Zane's Parade Foundation supports the following organizations: Brent's Place: More than 14,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. Many of these pediatric patients will undergo a bone marrow transplant or other life-saving treatments, which require a "Safe-Clean" home, vital for a successful recovery. This means they require a place free of common viruses, bacteria and germs that can prove fatal while their immune system is recovering. As the only "Safe-Clean" housing facility approved by Children's Hospital Colorado in the entire Rocky Mountain region, Brent's Place is suitable for the entire family. It is close to treatment facilities and free of charge, alleviating fears and removing emotional and financial burdens while providing the necessary bridge between the hospital and home. Over the past 2 years, Zane has raised over $50k for the families at Brent's Place and the demand for their services continues to rise. Approximately, 109 families called Brent's Place their home away from home in 2012. The cost for a family to stay at Brent's Place is $93 with the average stay being 109 days. Thanks to Zane's involvement, he has been able to sponsor full stays for families as well as allow them to attend programs to relieve the stress in their lives. With your support, Zane will be able to help more families and provide more programming such as attending tours of Sport's Authority Field and Denver Bronco games! The Colorado Association of Black Professional Engineers and Scientists (CABPES): CABPES is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging African-American and underrepresented youth to pursue career choices in the engineering and applied science professions. By doing so, the number of minority technical professionals will increase to a level that better represents the minority population, while assisting these industries in meeting the growing demand for engineers and scientists. Zane Beadles Parade Foundation will gift scholarship opportunities for Denver Metro area youth pursuing careers in engineering and applied science programs with your help.

Please support FUNERAL FUNDRAISER for BARRY GRIEFER Hosted by Brian Cimins

DONATE to Barry's Funeral Fundraiser here: https://www.youcaring.com/barrygriefer-984559 On Monday, October 16th, I called my old friend, BARRY GRIEFER, who has terminal brain cancer, to say hello, lift his spirits and pray with him. Even though its tough to ask, I always say, "How are you feeling? Any updates from the doctor?" Today, Barry's response was grim and filled with sadness..."Brian, the tumors are growing so fast, I'm now officially blind and the doctors told me I have less than 5 months to live." "Is there anything I can do Barry?", I replied. He normally just asks me to pray with him or replies, "You already are just for calling me. How's your family?" but today was different, today Barry confessed to me, "I am trying to plan my own funeral and do not have the money." It broke my heart and I replied, "Can I help you raise the funds, how much do you need?" Barry replied, "I'm very blessed, a local funeral home agreed to the minimal costs for my end of life requests, casket and above ground grave site for just $5,000". I replied, "I will help you raise those funds within the Grappling and Jiu Jitsu community and Christian brothers and sisters community, is that ok with you Barry?" "Yes my son, thank you, " Barry humbly replied. That's what got us here today. Bary Griefer is now 72 years old and just received his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a few weeks ago, taking his test completely blind, sparring multiple opponents and performed the self defense portion of the test too. He is a spiritual warrior, child of God who never gave up, but now his time is near to leave this earth and he would just like to not be a burden on his family. When people die, everyone spends $50-100 on flowers or donates to a charity, they honor the dead more than the living. Please help me honor a living legend, the most inspirational grappler on the planet, simply because, Barry Griefer never gave up. Psalm 116:15 says, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the DEATH of His saints". Barry knows Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and dedicated his life to serve Him alone many years ago. Please consider donating to a warrior, on and off the mats, who will one day soon meet His Lord in heaven. Please donate any amount you can, YouCaring takes 0% and 100% of the funds donated will be given to Barry and or the funeral home he has selected. We realize sometimes financial times are challenged, but every SHARE on social media helps raise $37 towards the goal. God Bless YOU for reading, sharing, donating and CARING enough to read all the way through. We might cry when Barry leaves this earth, but we must remember, God will rejoice...please help us help him leave this earth with dignity, knowing he didn't burden anyone, let's help him "lie down in green pastures" and peacefully leave this earth. Hear the Hope and help those at Cincinnati Children's Hospital

02:44
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The amount of talent that's swirling around Cincinnati Children's Hospital is absolutely amazing and when they come together for a common goal to help others they can make some pretty magical music. C.J. Lambert learned his son, Hudson, had Down syndrome when his wife was pregnant. "Just letting things set in, I think I cried the whole ride home. It was tough. Yeah, it was a struggle at first. He needed surgery when he was a week old. He was in the ICU for a few weeks." As if getting his mind around his son's medical issues wasn't enough. Lambert was quickly hit with another reality check. "That's where the financial side comes in. We were extremely grateful for the people at the Charitable Care Fund at Cincinnati Children's." "It's been very successful," says Chris Lah. "We're creeping up on about two million dollars we've raised over the past eight years. We'll do bake sales. We'll do anything to try to get money into that fund." With little Hudson on his way to recovery and the burden on medical bills lightened, C.J. wanted to do his part to help other families faced with the same challenges. That's when he came up with Hear the Hope. "We get people - anybody associated with Children's hospital, whether they be doctors or surgeons, a patient.. we definitely want patients involved and we write songs." Those songs are then recorded and put online to raise money for families of patients at Cincinnati Children's. Dr. Roger Cornwall, a surgeon by day, wrote the first song recorded by the group. "I grew up with music. I loved playing music, but as medical school got busy, I stopped playing, so I literally hadn't picked up a guitar for about 25 years. What better reason to bring music back into my life than something as good as this." Ed Leach plays drums. He's able to do so thanks to Doctor Cornwall who performed a rare procedure to fix his broken wrist. "It surprised me because I heard that Dr. Cornwall didn't play guitar for awhile, so I was a little worried." "It turned out ok, right?" "It turned out great actually. He was very good." You can download the song from the Hear the Hope website and donations are encouraged to help the cause.

Bone Marrow / Stem Cell Transplant Recovery Fund

04:25
Stem Cell Transplant is a grueling medical procedure that gives hope to cancer patients for a new cancer-free life. This procedure involves lowering the patient's white cell count and removing the stem cells and then re-introducing them into the patient's system when the white cell count is near zero. In some cases, the cancer patient will receive stem cells from a cancer-free donor. In either case, the patient must be in a germ-free environment while the body builds the white cell count to a level that will keep the patient from contracting any infection. The recovery time can take from six to twelve months. During this time, the patient is unable to work and is highly susceptible to any kind of infection. Since these patients are unable to work for a long period of time, the stem Cell Transplant Recovery Fund has been established to assist cancer patients with their financial obligations while they are unable to work or contribute to their household's finances. Your contribution of any size to this fund is tax deductible. But more than that, your contribution will help patients who have another chance at life start that new life without the burden of debt caused by their inability to work or contribute to their household's finances during the recovery. Austin Lapaille is one of the many patients currently undergoing this medical procedure. light to the Nations International would like to show these patients the love of God by providing much needed financial support. Save the girls child

01:37
Discrimination against girls in India has been going on since ages now. Even today, there are several sections of the Indian society where the girl child is treated as a burden. While several privileges are given to the boys; girls are often restricted to the confines of house and given very little or no opportunities to learn and grow in life. It is a matter of great shame that cases of female infanticide are still reported. As per the figures of 2011 census, there are just 918 girls in India for 1000 boys. In such a scenario, the role of the government and NGOs becomes all the more important in order to ensure that girls are allowed to be born and flourish in life. Support charities like Save the Children to contribute your bit in spreading awareness about the importance of girl child. Why it is important to save and educate girls In order to achieve true women empowerment, it is important that we begin with the girl children. This is because girls of today are the women of tomorrow. The role of social welfare organizations is critical here as it is not possible for the government to reach every nook and corner of the country. As the aware citizens, we can support organizations which work for the eradication of female infanticide and women empowerment. Donations to them serve two purposes: driving change in the society and providing tax benefits to the donor. Some yardsticks of women empowerment are: Helping women carve a positive self-image and increase their confidence level Enabling them to develop the ability to think critically. Ensuring that they have equal participation in decision making, whether it’s in the family or at the community level Providing economic independence to women The mindset that a girl is a liability needs to be changed and this requires happening at the grass root level. While spreading awareness is critical, there is a need of stricter laws in place which deter people from resorting to female foeticide. The role of education is extremely important here and goes a long way in empowering women. And the process of education has to begin early in life. More and more girl children need to be sent to school, provided quality and holistic education. Numerous benefits come with educating girls the right way. Educated girls are able to take the right decisions in life. For example, when an educated girl falls sick, she will have better understanding and awareness to avail proper healthcare services. At the same time, a society in which girls are educated will see less child marriages, decreased levels of poverty and heightened participation of women in socio-economic processes. Educating a girl has far-reaching impacts. It is rightly said that when a woman is educated, an entire generation benefits from it. Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao Scheme (BBBP) of the Indian Government Literally meaning ‘Educate the Girl Child, Save the Girl Child’ the Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao Scheme is an ambitious scheme of the Government of India which is intended to generate massive awareness, improvement of quality of welfare services for females and helping them (girls and women) access these services better. Introduced in October of 2014, the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme goes on to address the declining Child Sex Ratio in the country. The scheme is being rolled out through pan-India campaigns with focus on 100 worst-performing districts in terms of CSR. It is a joint initiative of three important Central Government ministries – the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Human Resource Development. Conclusion There is an urgent need to change this archaic mindset of the patriarchal Indian society which views girls as liabilities. It needs to be established that girls are in no way less than boys. When given the right chances to nurture their talent and skills, they have it in them to excel in different areas of life. It is therefore imperative that both government and non-government organizations work in cohesion to spread the message of saving and educating the girl child. You can donate online to NGOs to lend your support to this movement.

UK is the best place in the world to die, according to end of life care index

02:01
Integration of palliative care into NHS and strong hospice movement among reasons for UK ranking first in study of 80 countries The integration of palliative care into the NHS, a strong hospice movement largely funded by the charitable sector, specialised staff and deep community engagement are among the reasons cited by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The upper echelons of the index are dominated by wealthy European, Asia-Pacific and north American countries. Australia is second, New Zealand third and Ireland and Belgium complete the top five. Annie Pannelay, of EIU healthcare, said: “A very strong marker in our index is the availability of specialised palliative care workers and this is where the UK scores particularly well. The UK has a long history of providing treatment in palliative care. The other super strong marker is the way that the countries do have a plan for palliative care. That means they are on the dynamic of measuring progress and improving.” The US is ninth in the index. Taiwan is the highest Asian country, placing sixth, while India and China rank 67th and 71st respectively. Their performances were described as worrying in light of their huge populations, with China of particular concern given that “the impact of the one-child policy, often leaving individuals caring for two parents and four grandparents, will lead to even more demand for outside resources to provide support”. Among the countries that fare well despite being less wealthy and having less well developed healthcare systems are Mongolia and Panama, 28th and 31st on the index respectively. Mongolia’s performance was attributed to an individual doctor who has driven an increase in palliative care. Despite the UK’s top ranking, the study’s authors say it is “still not providing adequate services for every citizen”. They highlight an investigation by the parliamentary and health service ombudsman into complaints about end-of-life care, published in May, which raised issues including poor symptom control, poor communication and planning, failures to respond to the needs of the dying, inadequate out-of-hours services and delays in diagnosis and referrals for treatment. Pannelay said: “There are some concerns but there is a plan to improve and the single fact that there is a parliamentary report on that and it’s available publicly means a lot – that means the UK is working on it.” The UK received the top score in the indicator measuring financial burden to patients, indicating that 80% to 100% of end-of-life care services are paid for by sources other than the patient, much of it from charitable funding. The authors praise the Dying Matters Coalition set up by the National Council for Palliative Care charity in the UK to encourage people to talk more openly about death and make plans for the end of life. The EIU says the UK’s resources, like those of other countries, will be stretched in future by an an ageing population and non-communicable diseases including cancer, dementia and diabetes. The authors say recent third-party research demonstrates a significant link in the use of palliative care and treatment cost savings. Despite evidence of the economic benefits, they point out that only about 0.2% of the funds awarded for cancer research in the UK in 2010 went to research into palliative care, while in the US it was 1% of the National Cancer Institute’s appropriation. The Quality of Death Index, commissioned by the Lien Foundation, a Singaporean philanthropic organisation, is based on qualitative and quantitative indicators and took in interviews with more than 120 palliative care experts from around the world. The UK came top in the only previous index, produced in 2010, although that was limited to 40 countries and the criteria has since been refined.

The Importance of Your Will | Presented by Janet L. Reid

50:11
On April, May 26th, 2016, Janet L. Reid, an Estate and Trust Advisor at TD Wealth, spoke about the importance of making a will and planning your estate. Taking the time to make a will and plan your estate lets you decide what happens to your property when you are no longer here. Learn more about Estate Planning and Wills by watching Janet Reid’s full talk at: www.ThePrincessMargaret.ca/LunchAndLearn What is estate planning? Your “estate” is all of your property and belongings. Estate planning is when you create a plan for how your estate should be passed to friends, family, and/ or charities when you are no longer here. Estate planning is crucial because it allows you to: • Decide to whom, or where, your estate will be passed • Reduce taxes and government fees on your estate • Reduce the emotional and financial strain on friends and family The most important part of estate planning is making a will. What is a will? A “will” is a legal document you create to direct how your estate will be distributed when you are gone. Only 50% of Canadians have a will – but everyone should have one. Making a will allows you to: • Leave your estate to one or more individuals and/or charities that you choose • Set up on-going support for your loved ones through trusts • Choose an “executor” for your estate. An “executor” is a trusted person you choose to settle and disburse your estate Choose an executor that is organized and reliable, and who has the time and energy to take on the role. It can take up to 12-18 months to settle an estate. If you don’t know anybody who can be your executor, you can hire a trust company to do this. All executors, personal and corporate, can charge a one-time fee of up to 5% of your total estate. If you die intestate it means you passed away without a will. This means: • The government of your province will determine how your estate is given away • You cannot donate to charities • You cannot benefit remote relatives or friends • If you have children in Ontario, the Children’s Lawyer will manage trusts for them until they are 18 years old • There may be costs and delays to transfer the estate to your family Contact the trust company with your bank or an estate planning lawyer to learn more about making a will. 7 y.o Boy cares for his Paralysed Father after he fell out of building and his mother abandoned them

02:47
This touching story of a young boy who has nursed his paralysed father since his mother walked out on them is guaranteed to make your heart sink. Ou Tongming, a 37-year-old laborer from Wangpu village in southwest China's Guizhou province, plunged from the second story of construction property in 2013, suffering a spinal cord injury that paralysed him from the waist down. After the poverty-stricken family sapped their life savings on medical treatments, Tongming's wife fled with their three-year-old daughter, never to be heard from again, leaving seven-year-old Ou Yanglin to be the sole caretaker of his bedridden father. For over a year, Yanglin has woken at 6am every morning to feed his dad before going to school, teaching himself to cook rice and buy vegetables from a local market. At lunchtime he rushes home to feed his father again. Tongming said he was on the brink of suicide from thinking about how much of a burden he was placing on his son, but he thought better of leaving him all alone. 'I wasn't determined as I couldn't bear to leave the kid orphaned,' he told local media, according to the Shanghaiist. Yanglin, who only just started attending the first grade, scours the streets after school to collect scraps which can make up to up to 20 yuan (A$4) a day. Outside of this, the pair are surviving on a 300 RMB ($AU66)-a-month disabled persons handout. The shocking circumstances of the mother's departure are known to the family's neighbours, who have endeavoured to offer help wherever possible, but who are also just as impoverished. 'My father needs medicine, but I don't have any money,' Yanglin told local media. After returning home each day, the schoolboy helps to turn his father on his side and applies medicine to his body, which is plagued by bedsores from lying down for so long, one of which has ulcerated and spread and become an infection on his pelvis. Yanglin said more than anything else he that he hopes to 'grow up soon' in order to earn money to cure his father's afflictions. 'I can't live without my father,' he said. Yanglin's story has spread like wildfire, with sympathisers calling for a charity fund to be set up in his name to offer financial aid to the family. IMMIGRANTS FACE UP TO LIFE WITHOUT FREE HEALTHCARE

02:59
(11 Jun 2012) Aisha was pregnant with her first child when she got the news no woman wants to hear. She had breast cancer. With the right care, the 42 year-old Moroccan immigrant gave birth to a healthy baby and two years later is in remission. But she still needs the constant medical check-ups she is about to lose when the conservative government of Mariano Rajoy introduces a new bill aimed at cutting costs and pulling Spain out of a punishing recession. Aisha and her husband arrived in Spain 10 years ago. Her husband picked up odd jobs in construction on part time contracts and Aisha took up child minding and cleaning jobs when work came up. They are still in the country illegally. The couple and up to 500,000 other illegal immigrants will lose the right to free health care as provided by the Spanish health system when the bill comes into force on August 31. There are an estimated 5.5 million (m) immigrants in Spain, 12 percent of the total population. The number of immigrants that stands to be affected by the new bill range from 150,000 to 500,000. Spain is struggling to cut down a 8.5 percent GDP deficit to 5.3 percent in a year and has just asked for external help to shore up its ailing banks. Education and health care are bearing the brunt of austerity measures. Aisha says her cancer pain may have subsided but the prospect of losing her health care card has brought back more physical and emotional distress than she can deal with. "Every time I'm in pain, the first thing I think about is my health card, and that cancer might be back. I'm very scared of death," she told AP, tears running down her face. Aisha says she is terrified at the days ahead and wishes the government would spare a thought for the poor people. But she admits she would rather give up than live with no rights. "I'd rather die than live without dignity." Previously anyone who could prove that they lived in Spain could claim health cover and some have charged that this system was being abused. There were also documented cases of European citizens using the well functioning Spanish health system to short-cut long waiting lists at home. The government has asked NGO's like Doctors of the World to pick up the slack once the bill comes into force. Idoia Ugarte, the head of Doctors of the World in Toledo doesn't know what will happen to the thousands of people coming to hers and other NGO's for help from September. But she says that the measures will have no positive effect and won't help to reduce costs. "We are speaking about a fundamental human right which is the entitlement to health care. This should be guaranteed by the government under every circumstances, and now more than ever," she says. A recent survey in national newspaper El Pais, highlighted that, contrary to popular belief, immigrants made less use of the public health system than locals. On average immigrants made 5.05 visits to health services against 7.65 visits by Spaniards over the same period. Spain's grinding economic misery meanwhile will get worse this year, despite the country's request for a European financial lifeline, Rajoy admitted on Sunday. He said more Spaniards stand to lose their jobs in a country where one out of every four are already unemployed. 432Hz - Angelic Reiki Music | Angel Healing Music - Angel Choir Ambience - Angelic Meditation Music

02:00:00
432Hz allows us to tune into the wisdom of the Universe, Divine Intelligence and our Soul. It creates Unity instead of seperation. It expands our hearts and make us more compassionate and loving. One thing is for sure. A person who resonates with love have inner peace – and this is the starting point for a world were we live in Unity, Peace and Harmony with each-other and Mother Earth. Modern science has begun to recognize what the ancient mystics and wise men have told us for centuries; that everything is in a constant state of vibration. Everything down to the smallest physical particle to the things we cannot not perceive with our (yet) limited senses. The most elemental state of vibration is that of sound. Everything has an optimum range of vibration (frequency), and that rate is called resonance. When we are in resonance, we are in balance. Every organ and every cell in our precious body absorbs and emits sound with particular optimum resonate frequency. 432hz and 528hz tuned music creates resonance in our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body. Listen for 30 days for maximum effects. ................................
