China's trillion dollar plan to dominate global trade

05:59
It's about more than just economics. To learn more, visit https://reconnectingasia.csis.org/map/ Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO China's Belt and Road Initiative is the most ambitious infrastructure project in modern history. It spans over 60 countries and will cost over a trillion dollars. The plan is to make it easier for the world to trade with China, by funding roads, railways, pipelines, and other infrastructure projects in Asia and Africa. China is loaning trillions of dollars to any country that's willing to participate and it's been a big hit with the less democratic countries in the region. This makes the BRI a risky plan as well. But China is pushing forward because its goals are not strictly economic, they're also geopolitical. To truly understand the international conflicts and trends shaping our world you need a big-picture view. Electronic Harassment and Within-Community Terrorism by Organized Crime Networks

02:11:13
The Problem of Electronic Harassment — a Presentation by Dr. Matthew Aaron. This is the full version of the presentation that Dr. Matthew Aaron gave at the 1st Annual Unity & Hope Conference for Targeted Individuals in Boston, MA, Oct. 21, 2017. Dr. Aaron’s talk considers electronic harassment, an atrocious crime that can manifest itself as a within-community form of high-tech terrorism. Electronic harassment (EH) involves the use of energy-emitting devices to inflict discomfort and pain, and sometimes, severe physiological effects on targeted individuals (TIs). EH can be carried out by a single perpetrator, acting alone. However, like organized stalking (OS), EH tends to relentlessly follow a victim, so it seems to be generally carried out by an organized group of perpetrators, who conspire to single out and harm their targeted victim. There is a large degree of consensus in the TI Community that EH is facilitated by two types of enabling technologies: directed-energy weapons (DEWs) and through-the-wall surveillance (TWS) technology. Dr. Aaron’s presentation is organized into four parts: (1) possible technologies, criminal actors, and motives behind EH; (2) bio-effects of EH; (3) costs to society of EH, economic and otherwise; (4) key issues related to how we might start counteracting this new crime. Part 1 highlights include: Review of so-called sonic attacks on U.S. and Canadian diplomats in Cuba; and summary (and photos) of alleged black-market drywall with embedded EM transmission medium / waveguide system, which is allegedly used for painful and debilitating microwave attacks in hotel rooms and rental apartments in Vancouver, BC, Canada (this illegal material was encountered in: Apt. 1501 at 1189 Howe Street; Room 2209 of the Coast Plaza Hotel & Suites, 1763 Comox Street; and the apartment of a Maison d’Etre employee living in Hornby Court Apts., 1330 Hornby Street). Part 1 also shows the likely organizational structure of an OS/EH network, and a conceptual map of the growth and interconnections of local and regional organized crime groups involved in OS/EH. Part 2: List of most often-reported bio-effects of EH, indicating alleged bio-effects with and without support from the biomedical literature; photos of 12 different radio wave/microwave injuries (on 7 different victims), including burns, bruises, inflammation, swelling, and apparent connective tissue damage; photos of perpetrators / domestic terrorists in 1190 Hornby Street (members of the Vancouver Microwave Terror Organization); details of 2 directed-energy attacks (from a large, witnessed beam weapon – likely a high-power microwave generator) into 1501-1189 Howe Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada on December 20, 2015, showing schematic of beam cross-section after-image burned into victim’s visual field and waveguide impressions dielectrically flash-burned and frozen into solarium window; scientific explanation of the microwave auditory effect and V2K; scientific hypothesis for visual perceptual effects from harassment with modulated radio frequency energy; and scientifically based discussion of why EH is not capable of remotely injecting thoughts directly into the mind, or extracting thoughts from the mind. Part 3: Discussion of the general costs to society imposed by OS/EH. These include: lost work productivity and ruined careers; destabilized families; huge cost of suicides; tremendous costs of racketeering activities facilitated by OS/EH; costs to taxpayers of unnecessary psychiatric holds; lost confidence in police, healthcare, and government; opening of a gateway to pervasive corruption; subversion of the rule of law and the Constitution; and the tacit endorsement of sadistic, criminal behavior, and violence. Part 4: The biggest hurdles on the road to exposure and justice are: the failure of modern psychiatry in relation to the rapid expansion of technology; the lack of traditional types of forensic evidence; the intrinsic double-sided deniability of directed-energy assaults; and the complexities and nuances of the “wicked problem” that EH has become. Dr. Aaron explores these important issues. He encourages government to take swift and decisive action to counteract this problem (or pay the much greater cost of addressing the problem down the road). Organized stalking and electronic harassment pose existential threats to the rule of law and even the security and stability of modern democratic countries. The only viable solution is deterrence. After introducing Glendon Scott Crawford (KKK member) and Eric J. Feight, who were sentenced to federal prison for trying to build a DEW from an industrial-grade X-ray machine, Dr. Aaron discusses how OS/EH will never slow down, unless the criminal leaders and orchestrating perpetrators know the threat of extreme criminal penalties (lengthy prison sentences and forfeiture of assets). Strong counter-action like this will serve as an effective deterrence for would-be perpetrators.

Sanders Backers Win Major Reforms as Democratic Nat’l Committee Votes to Limit Superdelegate Power

07:57
https://democracynow.org - After a major debate, Democrats have voted on a key progressive demand after the 2016 campaign: to vastly reduce the power of superdelegates in choosing the party’s presidential nominee. Saturday’s vote by the Democratic National Committee comes after the 2016 race for Democratic nominee between Senator Bernie Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and pitted many DNC members who supported the change against two former party chairs and members of the Congressional Black Caucus. We get an update from Norman Solomon, national coordinator of RootsAction. He was a Bernie Sanders delegate from California to the 2016 Democratic National Convention, where he coordinated the independent Bernie Delegates Network. Political Ideology: Crash Course Government and Politics #35

08:47
So today Craig is going to look at political ideology in America. We're going to focus on liberals and conservatives and talk about the influencers of both of these viewpoints. Now, it's important to remember that political ideologies don't always perfectly correspond with political parties, and this correspondence becomes less and less likely over time. So, sure we can say that Democrats tend to be liberal and Republicans tend to be conservative, but we're not going to be talking about political parties in this episode. It's also important to note, that there are going to be a lot of generalizations here, as most peoples' ideologies fall on a spectrum, but we're going to try our best *crosses fingers* to summarize the most commonly held viewpoints for each of these positions as they are used pretty frequently in discussions of American politics. How the Republican Party went from Lincoln to Trump

It wasn't always this way for the Republican Party. Watch the history of the Democratic Party: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6R0NvVr164 Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Today’s Republican Party opposes big government. It’s culturally conservative. Its demographic support is strongest among white voters, and it usually dominates elections in the South. And its 2016 presidential nominee has been heavily criticized for inciting racial tensions. But things weren’t always this way. Over the past 160 or so years, the party has undergone a remarkable transformation from the party of Abraham Lincoln… to the party of Donald Trump. The President of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards, spoke to the House Oversight and Reform Committee, and during the hearing she defended Planned Parenthood making clear that the recent videos released were fraudulent and not indicative of the organization’s actions. Republican congressman Jason Chaffetz challenged Richards with a graph that showed abortions exceeding cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood. The information on the slide seemed, at the very least, misleading. Ana Kasparian (The Point) and Ben Mankiewicz (What The Flick?!) hosts of The Young Turks discuss. Do you think Richards did a good job defending Planned Parenthood? Will Chaffetz’s slide convince people that Planned Parenthood is an abortion factory? Let us know in the comments below. But they got a battle nonetheless. Cecile Richards, the president of the embattled nonprofit women's health-care organization, testified before a House government oversight committee about how her organization uses more than $500 million in annual federal funding.” ********** The Young Turks September 29, 2015 Hour 2 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTpcK80irdQgsQ-OcIVQvAx3DxDJ9pGL6 Planned Parenthood President SCHOOLS Republican Congressman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdd1HvwfmOc&list=PLTpcK80irdQgsQ-OcIVQvAx3DxDJ9pGL6&index=1 Carly Fiorina Made Up Horrible Story To Defund Planned Parenthood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4yeuPT2ZQs&list=PLTpcK80irdQgsQ-OcIVQvAx3DxDJ9pGL6&index=2 Azalea Banks: Gay People Are Like KKK (VIDEO) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzclxHSLA2E&list=PLTpcK80irdQgsQ-OcIVQvAx3DxDJ9pGL6&index=3 Journalist Trolls Friends With Viral Sonogram Post https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg5kyxFQWUg&list=PLTpcK80irdQgsQ-OcIVQvAx3DxDJ9pGL6&index=4 ********** The Largest Online News Show in the World. Insurance Company To Monitor How Much You Exercise

05:45
"Would you lead a more active lifestyle if it meant lower life insurance premiums? Insurer John Hancock and Vitality, a global wellness firm, are hoping the answer is yes. But there is a condition: They get to track your activity. The practice is already employed in Australia, Europe, Singapore and South Africa, where Vitality is based. The companies announced the new plan Wednesday and posted a video on John Hancock's website. Here's how the program works: Once you sign up, John Hancock sends you a Fitbit monitor as one way to track your fitness. You earn Vitality Points for your activities. As you accumulate points, your status rises — from bronze to silver to gold to platinum. The higher your status, the more you save each year on your life insurance premiums. The points also allow you benefits at stores like REI and Whole Foods as well as hotel chains like Hyatt." “CorkerKickback?”: Sen. Supports Tax Bill After Last-Minute Provision Would Personally Enrich Him

10:13
https://democracynow.org - The Republican plan to overhaul the U.S. tax code is now one step closer to passing, after Tennessee Republican Senator Bob Corker abruptly switched his position and announced his support for the controversial bill. The surprise move came after a controversial last-minute addition to the bill that would personally enrich Corker. The provision would slash taxes on income from real estate LLCs; Corker is a real estate mogul. The New York Times reports those who will most benefit from the Republicans’ tax bill are big corporations, multimillionaires, private equity managers, private schools, liquor stores, lawyers, tax accountants and President Trump and his family. Meanwhile, Florida Senator Marco Rubio announced his support for the tax plan on Friday after an expansion to the child tax credit—even though the expansion won’t benefit the children of undocumented parents. Republican lawmakers are now pressing forward for a final vote on Trump’s tax plan this week. We speak with David Sirota, senior editor for investigations at the International Business Times. How to Fuel the Economy Without Increasing Debt, through Sovereign Money

32:02
http://www.positivemoney.org/ Ben Dyson, Founder of Positive Money, speaking at the Positive Money 2014 conference. He recapped how the nature of money has changed since the Bank Charter Act of 1844, which outlawed bank creation of paper money. Most money today is electronic. There had yet to be a democratic debate on the consequences of this. Indeed, there had hardly been any democratic debate on the consequences of Quantitative Easing (QE). In terms of where this private bank money went -- 40 per cent went into the property market, 37 per cent to financial markets, 10 per cent to credit cards and personal loans and only 13 percent to productive business. In our system today, "more money means more debt". If we have a crisis and we want less debt then we have to accept that we will end up with less money circulating, because when the loans are repaid, the money disappears from the economy. Under the present system, there are two ways to get more money into the economy: The first way is to get the private banks creating new money by creating new debt. That is the situation where "more money equals more debt." So, interest rates were lowered to 0.5% in the expectation that "lower interest rates will get people to borrow more." There have also been various "funding for lending" schemes. The second way is to get the Bank of England to create money. It has initiated QE, whereby it creates money and buys bonds from pension funds and insurance companies. This money floods into the bond market and some floods into the stock market. It artificially increases bond prices, in the same way that the banks' privately-created money pushes up mortgage prices. The idea behind QE is that those who see the value of their bonds go up will then spend more on the High Street. But in reality, it means that the relatively small number of people who have the money in the first place, take their money and put even more of it into the bond market. In short, QE is a scheme which has made the very wealthy much better off, but has done very little to create jobs and get the real economy going. Incredibly, around £375 billion has been created but there has been very few questions asked in Parliament about the wisdom of this process, about how the money is created and where it is spent. This is remarkable considering the tortured debates in Parliament about the spending of sums which are a mere fraction of this figure! Ben explained that the alternative is Sovereign Money. The idea of Sovereign Money is that instead of the BoE creating money and putting it into the financial markets, it should be put into the real economy, through spending on infrastructure, through tax cuts, or through the simple expedient of giving it to people. This would allow us to escape from the debt trap where, if we need more money then we must have more debt. http://www.positivemoney.org/our-proposals/sovereign-money-creation/ He said that for every £10 billion which gets added to the government account and spent into the economy then we would get £6 billion coming back in taxes, and that for every £1 which goes in, we would get £2.80 of spending throughout the economy. He suggested that a Sovereign Money creation of £10 billion would lead to 28 billion spending, up to 284 000 jobs and 5.6 billion tax revenue, and lower personal debt. (These calculations come from CBI figures.) Furthermore, this is a policy which can be done now. Private banks will still lend, but Sovereign Money will, to an extent, offset the negative effects of debt. Once it can be shown that Sovereign Money works, then we can point to the full solution, outlined in Modernising Money which is stopping banks creating money in the first place. -------------------------- SUBSCRIBE to Positive Money UK's videos: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=PositiveMoneyUK Like us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/PositiveMoney Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/PositiveMoneyUK Follow us on Google+ http://www.positivemoney.org.uk/googleplus Positive Money is a not-for-profit research and campaign group. Norman Lamb: Our NHS is in Crisis

There is no doubt that patients and families will suffer because of the impossible pressure the NHS is being put under. We cannot allow the NHS to keep going from crisis to crisis. The Liberal Democrats would put a penny on income tax to raise £6bn a year of vital additional investment for the NHS and social care, and we are leading calls for the Government to start a cross-party process to develop a long-term, sustainable financial settlement for these essential services. Rep. Lungren (R-CA) speaking on the house floor in reference to the Slaughter Solution - a plan by Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY), the Democratic chair of the powerful House Rules Committee, to get the health care legislation through the House without an actual vote on the Senate-passed health care bill. Democratic leaders currently lack the votes needed to pass the Senate health care bill through the House. Under Slaughters use of the rules, Democratic leaders will overcome this problem by simply deeming the Senate bill passed in the House - without an actual vote by members of the House.

Sowing the Seeds of Growth

38:25
Recorded on May 11, 2017 John Michael “Mick” Mulvaney, director of the Office of Budget and Management, sits down with Peter Robinson to discuss the complex process of budget reform by having to blend President Trump's budget proposal with the realities of dealing with Congress. Mulvaney explains the need for bipartisanship in budget negotiations within the Senate to get the budget passed, which means getting at least eight Democrats to vote for the proposed budget (to get to the magic number of sixty votes) and keeping Trump's promises to his base. Mulvaney talks about the unique opportunity for the Republicans to reform the federal budget five months ahead of schedule as a result of the Obama administration’s inability to get a twelve-month budget passed. Furthermore Republicans have been able to invoke old laws that allow them to undo many policies enacted in the late days of the previous administration. That loophole allowed them to confirm several appointments and to pass the proposed budget without the requisite sixty votes but with fifty votes. But the Republicans need sixty votes in the Senate to pass the appropriations bill. The Democrats wanted a shutdown, but the Republicans were able to move money around to satisfy the Democrats and get the votes necessary to pass the appropriations bill and avoid a shutdown. For example, there was/is no money for new bricks and mortar construction of the “Wall,” but Republicans moved money around and funded their priorities for border security via a virtual wall with money already available for technology and surveillance. Mulvaney notes that the budgeting/appropriations system is set up so the House and Senate pass twelve appropriations bills every year. Those are the spending bills, which are the end process of the budget. The budget is the start of the process, authorizations go in the middle, and appropriations go on the end, which is how money gets out to be spent. Mulvaney was in Congress for six years, in which time Congress should have approved seventy-two appropriations bills but only approved three. Mulvaney says that the system is broken because of the sixty-vote rule to approve appropriations bills in the Senate. Therefore instead of small manageable appropriation bills that Congress could negotiate and pass, Congress ends up with large unwieldy bills that no one knows what is in them and thus punts with a resolution to continue with what done earlier. Mulvaney says that the system is not even close to what the Founding Fathers created and/or what is needed for a manageable and functioning government and society. Mulvaney describes his vision for the future of the American economy, noting that the way to reduce the deficit isn't necessarily cutting spending or raising taxes but creating room in the American economy for growth. He argues that the lack of new businesses and jobs, because of regulations and taxes, has prevented the ideal three percent growth necessary to eliminate the deficit and grow the economy. He also argues that regulatory reform can have twice the impact on economic growth that tax policy can. Mulvaney ends the interview saying that he loves his job and loves going to work. The eighty-plus-hour workweeks go by in the blink of an eye because the work is engaging and invigorating and because he feels he has a golden opportunity to change things for the better and get the United States, especially the economy, on a better trajectory. Mulvaney said that he is working at the highest levels on complicated but wonderful ideas, ideals, and issues with the leader of the free world and that President Trump is a great boss. This so-called vanguard of the "liberal media” is trying to take down the most success liberal candidate in decades. Cenk Uygur host of The Young Turks breaks it down. Do you think The Washington Post is liberal? Let us know in the comments below. Read more here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/bernie-sanderss-fiction-filled-campaign/2016/01/27/cd1b2866-c478-11e5-9693-933a4d31bcc8_story.html “SEN. BERNIE Sanders (I-Vt.) is leading in New Hampshire and within striking distance in Iowa, in large part because he is playing the role of uncorrupted anti-establishment crusader. But Mr. Sanders is not a brave truth-teller. He is a politician selling his own brand of fiction to a slice of the country that eagerly wants to buy it. Mr. Sanders’s tale starts with the bad guys: Wall Street and corporate money. The existence of large banks and lax campaign finance laws explains why working Americans are not thriving, he says, and why the progressive agenda has not advanced. Here is a reality check: Wall Street has already undergone a round of reform, significantly reducing the risks big banks pose to the financial system. The evolution and structure of the world economy, not mere corporate deck-stacking, explained many of the big economic challenges the country still faces. And even with radical campaign finance reform, many Americans and their representatives would still oppose the Sanders agenda. Mr. Sanders’s story continues with fantastical claims about how he would make the European social model work in the United States. He admits that he would have to raise taxes on the middle class in order to pay for his universal, Medicare-for-all health-care plan, and he promises massive savings on health-care costs that would translate into generous benefits for ordinary people, putting them well ahead, on net. But he does not adequately explain where those massive savings would come from. Getting rid of corporate advertising and overhead would only yield so much. Savings would also have to come from slashing payments to doctors and hospitals and denying benefits that people want.” ********** The Young Turks January 28, 2016 Hour 1 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTpcK80irdQi8TpKId3v1fVZeJbbo6Z16 O’Reilly BEGS Donald Trump To Debate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPGlKmv1dRo&index=1&list=PLTpcK80irdQi8TpKId3v1fVZeJbbo6Z16 “Liberal Media” Attacks Bernie Sanders https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKshwoFa30Y&index=2&list=PLTpcK80irdQi8TpKId3v1fVZeJbbo6Z16 CNN Tries To Convince Susan Sarandon To Change Her Vote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr51vdQAgC8&index=3&list=PLTpcK80irdQi8TpKId3v1fVZeJbbo6Z16 Trump Fans Viciously Swarm Megyn Kelly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n411RIbkM6k&index=4&list=PLTpcK80irdQi8TpKId3v1fVZeJbbo6Z16 Donald Trump No Friend Of Veterans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpXU-xM5CuY&index=5&list=PLTpcK80irdQi8TpKId3v1fVZeJbbo6Z16 ********** The Largest Online News Show in the World. The Role of Civil Societies in Building Democracy and the Threats They Face - C. Ponce & Art Kaufman

01:05:18
Nongovernmental civil society organizations (NGOs), particularly democracy and human rights groups, contribute essential education, networking, mobilization, and communication efforts to help their fellow citizens prepare for and undertake their countries' transitions to democracy, and to help meet the challenges of consolidating and deepening democracy where transitions have occurred. The problem is that an increasing number of non-democratic governments have passed new legislation, or have taken other measures, to close civil society space, making it difficult, and in some cases near impossible, for democracy and human rights organizations to carry out their work. Many new "NGO laws," restrictions on the press and access to the Internet, and barriers to free expression and assembly, violate long-standing, widely-accepted principles, rooted in international law, that ought to inform proper government-civil society relations in a democracy. The presentations and discussion will focus on the ways in which civil society space is being closed and the ways in which the international community can respond. Art Kaufman is Senior Director of the World Movement for Democracy, a global network of activists, practitioners, scholars and others engaged in advancing democracy, which has its secretariat at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) in Washington, DC. He is responsible for planning and conducting the World Movement's global assemblies, including, to date, in São Paulo, Brazil (2000), in Durban, South Africa (2004), in Istanbul, Turkey (2006), in Kyiv, Ukraine (2008), and in Jakarta, Indonesia (2010). Dr. Kaufman and his staff are also responsible for helping World Movement participants develop regional networks, such as the African Democracy Forum, the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy, and the World Forum for Democratization in Asia, and functional networks focused on democracy research, local governance, youth engagement, and women's political participation, among others. Dr. Kaufman also oversees World Movement projects, such as the Defending Civil Society project, launched in late 2007 to respond to efforts by an increasing number of governments to close civil society space for democracy and human rights work. From 1995 to 2000, he served as Senior Program Officer at NED's International Forum for Democratic Studies. He previously served as Vice President for Programs at the Executive Council on Foreign Diplomacy where he organized senior-level discussion programs on international economic, trade, and environmental issues. He is coeditor of Constitution Makers on Constitution Making: The Experience of Eight Nations and Forging Unity Out of Diversity: The Approaches of Eight Nations, both based on major international conferences held at the Supreme Court of the United States. He earned his doctorate in Government from Georgetown University in 1992. Carlos Ponce is the general coordinator of the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy, a network of over 210 leading civil society organizations across the Americas, which is affiliated with the World Movement for Democracy. An expert on human rights, civil society, and democracy in Latin America, he is a member of the World Movement Steering Committee and a lecturer at Tufts University. In his native Venezuela, Dr. Ponce successfully founded and led the Justice and Development Consortium—a nongovernmental organization that develops justice-reform and conflict-resolution programs at the local level—and advised the student movement in the country. He is currently a Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) where he is studying the ways in which civil society organizations can more strategically defend democracy in Latin America. A member of the International Steering Committee of the Nongovernmental Process of the Community of Democracies, he previously worked as executive secretary of Venezuela's National Human Rights Commission and as an advisor to the Venezuelan Congress.

Economic Update With Richard Wolff: Trump, Wall Street, Goldman Sachs

58:01
Aired 1/24/17. On Today's Economic Update, Professor Wolff bring ups a research article from the Economy Policy Institute, which complied numerous charts that compared workers's wages from 1985 to 2015. The article compared white men's and black men's wages as well as white women's and black women's wages. The study shows that black men's wages were down 6% lower than what they were in 1980, whereas white men's wages went down 1%. On the other hand. Black women's wages increased 15% and White women's wages went up 31%. The growth in productivity in all labors rose consistently over 35 years, the productivity levels were much higher than worker's wages altogether. Professor Wolff indicates that the fact that male workers did worse than their female counterparts may have had something to do with the outcome of election since many workers, since many of them feel disenfranchised and left behind. Mr Wolff mentions that the British Parliament has intentions of promoting upward mobility by eliminating unpaid internships for more than one month in Britain. British legislators have expressed interest in abolishing unpaid internships for more than one month since several members of Parliament deem it as a system that preys upon the most economically disadvantaged and favors the most affluent sectors of society. According to Mr. Wolff, the big banks are quite satisfied with the Trump administration, even more so than they would've been under Democrats because they are counting on a reduction of regulations and a relaxation of the Dodd Frank rules. Professor Wolff addresses a study conducted by United Way Worldwide, which shows that an Average Annual Survival Budget for a family of four is $62,472 in New York, just to get a basic living household income. The study also indicates 44% of households in New York State were either living below the poverty line or barely above it. Meanwhile, the Bronx, which is the poorest county in New York City shows that 71% of households were living below the poverty line or barely surpassed it. During the last segment of the show, Professor Wolff interviews Becky Bond and Zach Exley, Senior Advisers to the Bernie Sanders Campaign and Co-Authors of "Rules for Revolutionaries: How big Organizing Can Change Everything." #MNN #RichardWolff #EconomicUpdate #PowerToThePeople #CommunityEngagement. Sen. Orrin Hatch Exposes Democrats' Health Care Abortion Agenda

02:18
Supporters of the President's government takeover of health care have been very careful to not mention the word abortion. They use terms like family planning and reproductive healthcare, but it is becoming harder for them to hide the fact that under a government takeover of health care, taxpayers would be forced to fund abortion for the first time in over 3 decades. On Thursday Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) offered an amendment to insure that organizations like Planned Parenthood were included in the government plan. Sen. Orrin Hatch raised an objection about taxpayer funded abortion. Sen. Mikulski appeared to have been caught with her hand in the cookie jar. While more concerns have been raised that some treatments may not be available to some people, the supporters of this government takeover are intent on making sure abortion is not left out. Think about it, while you or your children or elderly parents may be denied certain treatments or procedures, your tax dollars will underwrite Planned Parenthood, in taking the lives of unborn children. Sign the FRCs petition to make sure your tax dollars do not fund abortion by going to FRC.ORG

Have You Seen This Flow Chart From The GOP Don't Believe It

06:50
I was beyond surprised how much misinformation is put out there by the GOP , health insurance lobbyist , swift boat ads on YouTube and on TV about health care . I went to this one page on YouTube called "Break The Matrix " . It was full of half truths , flat out lies , rehearsed view points and allot of , for lack of better words , eye candy distractions . While people are looking at this soft porn swift vote video their minds are taken off the facts that 18 to 20 thousand people die every year because of no health insurance .Or the fact half of all bankruptcies are caused by medical bills. Three-quarters of those filings are people with health insurance .Ok , let's tackle some of the claims made by "Break The Matrix " .One, there are 4 health care proposals and none have been decided on yet . Two, if the 8% tax proposal were used it would be cheaper then what most small business pay for your average Blue cross plan now . 70% of health care cost continue to rise and will rise more .Under the current system of private average healthcare employe's are being layed off due to growing health care cost .Or the employer is dropping coverage all together .Three, whatever plan there is would not be govenment run , only government funded . Under the private health care system the insurance company influnces the doctor on who is and who isn't covered for a procedure .Four, health insurance reform is an option .It is not mandated .You can choose your private insurance or one of many offered by the govenmrnt . Tweets during Democrat and Republican conventions expected to pass 10 million

02:45
(5 Sep 2012) The appearance of US First Lady Michelle Obama on stage at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday prompted a massive spike in tweets and internet searches, it emerged on Wednesday. Four years after social media first made its presence felt in the US political scene, at the Republican and Democratic conventions in 2008, new media continues to change political campaign thinking. Twitter reported a total of 360,000 tweets in 2008 during the entire Convention period, including the announcement of Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. At the DNC, tweets were peaking at more than 28-thousand a minute. Twitter's Head of Government and News, Adam Sharp, said even before the DNC is over, Twitter is nearing nine million tweets for the two party conventions combined, with the figure expected to surpass ten million by the time the Democrats hit the closing gavel. Industry watchers and party campaign strategists delved into the statistics. Sharp says after some similarities in numbers during the starting session of both conventions, tweets about the Democratic event increased sharply on Tuesday night. "As we get close to the ten o'clock hour, massive spike for the Democrats," he said. "The First Lady, who peaked at 28-thousand tweets per minute. Compare that to just about seven thousand tweets per minute for Ann Romney a week before, or 14-thousand for Mitt Romney." Sharp said that number was 'off the charts' in political circles. For comparison, he said President Barack Obama saw half that number of tweets during his State of the Union address earlier this year. "Now, if you break out of politics and look at international sporting events, entertainment events and so on, you will see peaks bigger than that as we did in the Olympics, the World Cup, the Oscars, " he said. Samantha Smith, with Google's Global Communications and Public Affairs department, also reported a huge increase in internet browser searches related to the First Lady's speech, up by 500 percent. "So, the increase from her original ... her usual... search, to up to 500 percent with things like, 'Michelle Obama dress', 'Michelle Obama brother', 'Michelle Obama bio' as trending searches around her name," she said. Bloggers were also making their presence felt in Charlotte. Between six and eight hundred bloggers are working out of office space a few blocks away from the convention centre, arranged by the rights group The PPL. Co-founder Desiree Kane said bloggers are using as many internet tools as they can to cover the convention "A lot of people rely upon making the connection through social media and then moving it off line so you can develop a personal relationship that later will serve your organisation," she said. Twitter gauges the popularity of political figures by calculating a ratio of positive and negative tweets. They call it Twin-dex, where ratings lower than 50 are negative and above 50 are positive. Sharp said Mrs. Obama was already very popular before she spoke, but her ratings spiked after her speech and pushed up her husband's rating too. A similar positive effect was noticed after Ann Romney's speech in Tampa for her husband Mitt Romney last week, although over time Mitt Romney's rating returned to his previous level. One big difference between the two conventions: the non-credentialled bloggers report much greater access and accommodation in Charlotte, North Carolina, than they found at the Republicans' meeting in Florida. A comparison between the two events is now going to be studied by a group of university researchers as both sides try to maximise party support via the internet in the run-up to November's election.
