2019 Part D Drug Plan Updates

06:08
The 2019 Part D drug plans have been released and there have been a few changes made. In order to better understand these changes, you need to understand how drug plans work. Most drug plans have 4 levels of coverage: Deductible Level, Copay Level, Coverage Gap and Catastrophic Level. The updates made to the Part D drug plans are as follows: 1. The standard deductible is $415. Keep in mind that a lot of carriers are offering a “Tiered Deductible”, meaning that the deductible does not apply to Tier 1 and Tier 2 medications. So, one would pay a small amount for Tiers 1 and 2 from the start. 2. The copay level, the plan pays 75% of their negotiated cost and the client pays 25% as their copay. Different plans get certain medications for lower and higher costs (formulary). This is one reason it is important to shop your Medicare Part D plan every year. 3. Coverage Gap (Donut Hole): Once the client and the Medicare Part D Plan have paid $3.820 for the medication costs, the client enters the Donut Hole. Great news! The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 moved up the date for closing the Donut Hole for brand name medications to 2019. This means, that for brand name medications, even when you enter into the Donut Hole, your copay will stay 25%. This should save many people a lot of money. Clients will still pay 37% of the costs for generic medications, but this is usually still a relatively small amount because most generic medications are affordable. 4. Once the client enters the Catastrophic level, when both the client and the Medicare Part D plan have paid $5,100, the plan will pay 95% of the cost and the client will be responsible for only the remaining 5%.

State Opportunities to Address Prescription Drug Costs in Medicaid

01:29:23
The purpose of this briefing was to inform federal policymakers and stakeholders to the legislative and regulatory actions that state officials are pursuing to address the rising cost of prescription drugs in Medicaid. The event featured prominent state officials from Oklahoma and Colorado, and the director of the CMS Division of Pharmacy at the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services. Panelists outlined the rationale for these actions, detail the mechanisms of state policies, and describe opportunities to leverage flexibility within federal parameters. Outpatient prescription drug coverage is an optional Medicaid benefit that all 50 states and DC have opted to provide. State Medicaid programs establish their own payment design for outpatient prescription drugs within parameters established by the federal government. The entrance of high-cost specialty drugs into the market and rising prices for generic drugs are contributing to cost increases for public and private payers. However, the rate of drug spending growth is higher in Medicaid compared to other insurers. The purpose of this briefing is to inform federal policymakers and stakeholders to the legislative and regulatory actions that state officials are pursuing to address the rising cost of prescription drugs in Medicaid. The event will feature prominent state officials from Oklahoma and Colorado, and the director of the CMS Division of Pharmacy at the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services. Oklahoma Doctor Mary Ann Bauman Discusses Medication

02:17
Mary Ann Bauman M.D. INTEGRIS Family Care Central 3400 NW Expressway Building C Suite 500 Oklahoma City, OK 73112 Phone: 405-945-4787 Medicines can be an important part of treatment for serious infections or chronic conditions. They can help relieve pain and lift depression. They can also fight some of the nation's leading causes of death and disability. Today's medications can help control many common chronic diseases and lower the complications that go along with them. Medications can play an important role in helping keep people out of the hospital. Why do so many people take their medications incorrectly or not at all? According to numerous researchers, more than 1 in 4 Americans do not take their medications as prescribed. There are a lot of different reasons for this. Often, people don't understand how to take their medication correctly or lose track of their medication during the day. Some stop taking medication because they feel it is no longer needed. Others can't afford the expense of medication, especially if it is not covered by their insurance. People also stop taking their medication because of unpleasant side effects. Are there risks? Taking medications on time and correctly is extremely important. When you don't take medications as prescribed, they may not work as well as they should. You may also have a greater risk for side effects. The effects of not taking some medications aren't always clear. People who don't take their blood pressure or cholesterol medications may feel well, but their blood pressure or cholesterol numbers may be rising. That can increase their risk for heart attack or stroke. Tips you can try There's a lot you can do to help your medications work safely and effectively. Experts suggest that you: Gather information. Ask for brochures and pamphlets about your condition and medication from your health care provider's office. Ask your health care provider to recommend reliable websites that may help. Make a list of your medications. Include all medicines, vitamins, supplements, and herbal remedies that you use. Share this list with all your health care providers and your pharmacist. Keep it up-to-date. This makes it easier for them to spot — and prevent dangerous drug interactions. Don't rely on your memory. Buy a special pill case that's divided into the days of the week. Then keep it somewhere in plain sight, but safe from children. Newer boxes have built-in alarms and a recorded voice to remind you. Another idea is to take your medication at the same time every day, perhaps when you brush your teeth or feed the dog. Set your watch or cell phone alarm to go off when you need to take a dose. Even a note on the refrigerator may help you remember. Talk with your health care provider. Before you stop taking a medication or start taking fewer doses to save money or simplify your schedule, call your health care provider. Do this even if symptoms disappear or you don't think the medicine is working. Suddenly stopping some medications can be dangerous. Ask about a simpler schedule. If you just can't keep track of all your medications and when to take them, ask your health care provider for help. With some medications, you may be able to switch to a different dose that doesn't need to be taken as often. Explore more affordable choices. Prescriptions can take a big bite out of your budget, even if your health benefits include drug coverage. But, taking less medication or skipping doses isn't a safe way to save money. Ask your health care provider about using a generic instead a brand-name medication. It will have the same active ingredients as its brand-name version, but may cost less. Are you eligible to order your medications at a discount? Check with your health plan. Some pharmacies and drug companies offer discount cards or very low-cost generic medications, too. Sometimes, you may be able to buy a larger dose and split it to save money. It may be cheaper, for instance, to buy 200 mg tablets and break them in half if you only need 100 mg. But ask your pharmacist because certain medications are not safe to split apart. Throw away any medications you are no longer taking. Keeping medications around after they are no longer prescribed or have been changed by your health care provider can lead to confusion. Ask your pharmacist how to safely get rid of unneeded medications. Taking your medication as directed is just 1 part of your overall plan for staying healthy.

Medicare Part D for Diabetes

02:22
click here----http://www.medigaplist.com When you are on Medicare with the biggest worry for most people are the prescription drug plans because the out of pocket costs are pricey. If you are taking Novolog or another Diabetes insulin pen you must do some work so that you are not going to automatically hit the Medicare part d donut hole. It isn't the same for someone taking a generic drug such as Lisinopril or lovastatin. These are the generic drugs that might cost $3 at Walgreens, CVS, or Walmart. The diabetes insulin injections can be costly and can put you into the donut hole in the first quarter of the year. Especially in 2014 when the donut hole is around 50% of your prescription drug retail cost. Many people that are taking Novolog or another diabetes insulin drug will be on a Medicare supplement plan F or a Medigap plan N and think that the costs are really low. They are. The costly part of Medicare plans are the part d Medicare prescription plans. If you compare the best Medicare part D plans and look at some of the out of pocket costs they can be very similar. A list of Medicare supplement plans with part d plans can show a person how to save money. I am using Novolog as an example but it is costly with all of the diabetes drugs. House Bill 1672

01:33
House Bill 1672 directs health benefit plans that provide prescription drug coverage or contracts with a third-party for such services. Known as the "Continuity Care Act of 2013," HB 1672 must notify an enrollee presently taking a prescription drug of any deletions in the plan's prescription drug formulary, except generic substitutions. The measure does not apply to a drug that is determined by a therapeutics committee of the health benefit plan that is subject to new safety warnings or safety recalls by the Federal Drug Administration. "HB 1672 is important to anyone who relies on prescription drugs," said Rep. Blackwell, R-Laverne. "The measure requires an insurer of a health benefit plan that covers prescription drugs and uses one or more drug formularies to provide information to the enrollee. Also, a health benefit plan issuer is required to offer each enrollee prescription drug coverage at their contracted benefit level until the plan renewal period, regardless if a drug has been dropped from the benefit plan's drug formulary. This bill will keep Oklahomans informed on their prescription drug benefits and help them make proper decisions on their coverage."

Addiction Counseling Oklahoma City OK | 405.308.4552

http://OklahomaCityCounseling.net - Addiction Counseling in Oklahoma City, OK, 405.308.4552 | Provided by Karen J. Mannix LPC, LADC. Contact Me: Karen J. Mannix LPC, LADC 1700 West Britton Road Oklahoma City OK 73120 (405) 308-4552 http://OklahomaCityCounseling.net I pride myself in providing an intimate environment for addiction counseling in my Oklahoma City office. Please, if you are in need, pick up the phone today and let's get you started on the path to recovery. Everyone deserves a complete and sane existence. Addiction counseling is an essential part of drug abuse treatment for many people. Cognitive behavioral therapy, family counseling, and other therapy approaches can help people recovering from opioid addiction stay clean. Psychotherapy can also treat the other mental health conditions that often contribute to prescription drug abuse. Kicking the prescription drug abuse habit -- or any other addiction -- is a major accomplishment and a goal in addiction counseling. But for most people with opioid addiction, detox is only the beginning of a long-term battle against craving and relapse. Addiction Counseling plays a key role in addiction treatment. Opioid addiction is more than a physical dependence on drugs. Even after detox, when physical dependence is cured, addicts are at high risk for relapse. Psychological and social factors are often powerful stimuli for prescription drug abuse relapse: -Stress, especially sudden life stresses -Cues in the environment, like visiting a neighborhood -Social networks, like spending time with friends who continue to use drugs -These factors can create ongoing, nearly irresistible urges to use drugs. Prescription drug addiction counseling helps addicts escape craving and learn to cope with life, without using drugs. Several addiction counseling therapies are available for prescription drug abuse, and no method is known to be the best. Likewise, no one approach is appropriate for everyone with opiate addiction. The right drug abuse treatment plan is tailored to a person's addiction and his or her individual needs. Couples and Family Addiction Counseling Therapy Prescription drug abuse and opioid addiction don't only affect the user's life; the whole family is transformed. Strong relationships with family and friends are essential for successful drug abuse treatment. Various counseling methods include the spouse and other family members of the addicted person. There are several potential benefits of family or couples addiction counseling therapy: Family members can act as a powerful force for change in the addicted person's life. Including family members can increase the likelihood a person will stay with addiction counseling. Each family member can begin to heal the damage their loved one's addiction has caused in their own life. Studies show family therapy results in lower relapse rates, increased happiness in the family, and better functioning in children of addicted parents. Medicare Part D Colorado

01:24
--------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.Medigaplist.com There are so many Medicare plans to choose from when dealing with Medicare part D. So much confusion when it comes to the donut hole in Medicare. The premium cost of all of these plans are different, the co pays are different, the mail order pharmacies, the drugs, the Lipitor generic, the simvastatin. It goes on and on, and the one general consensus is that Medicare Part D prescription drug plans are just darn confusing. Rocky mountain health plans in Colorado are easier to figure out than the drug plans for Part D. The first step is to get your Medicare A and B card. If you already have that taken care of and you have a Medicare supplement plan in place the battle is almost won. Maybe it is the annual enrollment period and you simply want to change your drug plan or switch from a Medicare advantage plan. Maybe you just are tired of running your drugs through the system only to find out the Medicare approved part D plans are all expensive. My advice is to get a broker to help you through this. Why is it that people always want to do things themselves? It doesn't cost you anything more to get a Medicare broker to walk you through this time period. If you want Medicare Part D info and you are tired of looking around then call us at Medigaplist. We can help. So many people have asked me what the best Medicare drug plan is and I always tell them it is different for everyone. The AARP drug plan from United Healthcare is the best Medicare drug plan in Colorado for certain people. Humana is the best Medicare Part D plan for someone else. It really depends on the drugs you take. If you take Lisinopril to treat high blood pressure aka hypertension, or you take another ACE inhibitor, the plan isn't going to be the samer Part D Medicare plan that someone taking Actos or Avandia. Omeone who is taking Valium or a Xanax obviously has a different condition than someone taking Altocor, lovastatin or Crestor. Would you take Aviane or a ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel for your back pain; I don't think so. oyu need to get a list of Medicare Part D drug plans and compare the premiums. You also want to compare the best Medigap plan F and see if you can save money on your supplemental Medigap plan. The bottom line is you want the best Medigap plan F or Plan G you can find if it's affordable, you want a great Medicare part D plan, you need to make sure you can handle the Medicare Part A and B premium, and you want a good dental plan from a company such as Delta Dental. Go above a put in your zip code and the click the view rates button to see your Medicare and Medigap premiums in any part of the country including but not limited to Colorado Springs, Denver , Boulder and Jefferson County. If you don't want Medicare at 65 years old

03:19
-- click here- http://www.Medigaplist.com Very important video! You could do the wrong thing if your turning 65 and don't want Medicare. If you leave it alone you could be penalized. Watch closely. ----- If you decline Medicare Part B, then you are really not on "Medicare" in real terms. You will not lose your Medicare open enrollment status, you will not pay any penalties for Medicare Part D, you will be able to come into Medicare at a later date....smooth sailing. So what's the big deal about Medicare Part B? Everything!!! If you are not on it, you will not need a Medigap plan. You also will not need a Medicare advantage plan. You most likely won't need a Part D prescription drug plan, and you won't be hit with any penalties. If you want to get on Medicare and want the Original Medicare "package" you will have to take these steps: 1. Get your Medicare A and B card set up right at 3 moths before your 65th birthday 2. Call a Medicare Supplement agent like Medigaplist.com and see the different prices for Medigap Plan F or Medigap Plan G. ( or any other plan that is available) 3. Choose a company that supplies that Medigap plan in your state ( Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas, California, Kansas etc are all different) Make sure you look at some well known companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, AARP, Mutual Of Omaha, Aetna. Also look at some smaller companies such KSKJ life, Royal Neighbors of America, Forethought, Medico etc. 4. Choose a prescription drug plan with a good company with low deductibles and copays. Many companies have drug plans such as AARP, Aetna, Blue Cross and Medico. 5 . And get an agent that really understands the system. We at Medigap list understand how the system works and you don't get charge any more than you would going directly to a company. Come on you say? Try us out. We give you a list of Medigap companies with the best rates. You compare prices with the cheap Medicare Supplements and shop around to beat the price if need be. You will see we can't be beat on price or service. Do all Medicare Supplement plans have price increases? Check us out. You can call your Medigap list agent every year to compare Medigap prices if you like. It's all free of charge. Start now by viewing your rates up top. We also offer our assistance in helping you find a Medicare Supplement plan, Medicare Advantage Plan, or Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan. Call 1-800-663-5707 or visit http://medicaresavingsolutions.com Age 65 Medicare Turning 65 California Turning 65 Washington Turning 65 Oregon Turning 65 Florida Turning 65 Idaho Turning 65 Texas Turning 65 New Mexico Turning 65 Arizona Turning 65 Pennsylvania Turning 65 Minnesota Turning 65 Wyoming Turning 65 Alaska Turning 65 Ohio Turning 65 North Carolina Turning 65 South Carolina Turning 65 Oklahoma Turning 65 North Dakota Turning 65 South Dakota Turning 65 New York Turning 65 Nevada Turning 65 New Orleans Turning 65 Virginia Turning 65 New Jersey Turning 65 Medicare Medicare turning 65 California Medicare Medicare California turning 65 maine turning 65 west virginia turning 65 alabama turning 65 mississippi turning 65 tennessee turning 65 montana turning 65 colorado turning 65 north dakota turning 65 south dakota turning 65 Massachusetts turning 65 connecticut turning 65 kentucky turning 65 missouri turning 65 arkansas turning 65 georgia turning 65 iowa turning 65 wisconsin turning 65 vermont turning 65 hawaii Turning 65 – When to Sign Up for Medicare When you are turning 65 you can sign up for Medicare up to 3 months before the month of your birth, the month of your birth, and 3 months after. This is called your Initial Enrollment Period. If you wait and you do not have “creditable” coverage when you are turning 65 then you may be penalized when you sign up for Medicare Part B at a later date. If you do have “creditable coverage” and you are losing it then you will be able to sign up for Medicare the month following the loss of coverage and you will not incur a penalty. If you go without “creditable coverage” and apply for Medicare after your Initial Enrollment Period has ended then you will have an opportunity to apply during the “General Enrollment” period from January 1st to March 31st. Your coverage will not start until July of that year. So it is best and highly recommended to start Medicare during your initial enrollment period when your are turning 65. Turning 65 Medicare Supplement Plans If you are turning 65 you will be able to choose from a variety of Medicare health insurance plans. Many of these options will be in the form of a Medicare Supplement Plan. Medicare Supplements are also known as Medigap Plans. They are called this because they are meant to fill the gaps in original Medicare Parts A and B. The way they work is Medicare pays there portion of your hospital and medical bills and then the Medicare Supplement plan pays most or all of what is left. There are many different Medicare Supplement plans offered by many different companies. This makes it hard to decide which plan is best when you are turning 65 and starting Medicare. Ideally you would want the plan that pays the best on your bills. This can also come at a hefty cost, so you would be best apt to talk to an independent agent like Devon West who runs Medicare Saving Solutions. He helps people that are turning 65 find the best available coverage for the lowest available cost. Not only does he help as you are turning 65, but also will keep in touch and help you year after year to make sure you are always covered the best you can be.

Being one of the country's most unhealthy states is costly in sickness, medical and insurance costs, a lower quality-of-life, and early death. However, one Texas town is working to turn the tide on chronic disease. Marshall, Texas - Diseases of the dinner table continue to drag Oklahoma down. We're a national leader for heart disease, high-blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol, stroke, cancer and diabetes. Being one of the country's most unhealthy states is costly in sickness, medical and insurance costs, a lower quality-of-life, and early death. However, one Texas town is working to turn the tide on chronic disease. Marshall, Texas has a population of 25,000. It's cattle country, with a food culture, like the rest of the south, centered on meat, sugar, processed and fatty fried foods. Like Oklahoma, it's known as America's "stroke belt." But to sit at dinner with Marshall's Mayor Ed Smith and his wife, Amanda, you'll hear a different tale. "If somebody wants to get control of their health, and turn things around, your body will heal itself very quickly," said Mayor Ed Smith. Six years ago, Mayor Smith was 40 pounds heavier and diagnosed with prostate cancer. Knowing they needed to make a change, the Smiths Began eating a plant-based, whole foods diet of vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains. Amazingly, his prostate cancer disappeared. "Most of these chronic diseases we have in the United States, for the most part, and even a lot of our cancers are driven by what we're eating." Mayor Smith said. Buoyed by his success, the mayor and his wife offered to share what they had learned. "We've had so many people come up to us that we've not even met that tell us their success stories, that is so rewarding," said Amanda Smith. In fact, once a month, crowding in a room at the fire house, they share home-cooked healthy foods, exchange recipes and tell their success stories. "I was 60 pounds heavier, so because of a plant-based diet, this is where I am today," said Bill Dinsmore of Shreveport, Louisiana. Sharon Clark of Nacogdoches, Texas also saw success. "I wasn't even conscious at first that I was losing weight 'til people started saying 'are you on a diet?' and I'm thinking, 'no, I've changed my lifestyle is what I've done, I've gotten healthy," she said. Marshall's Fire Chief Reggie Cooper was 50 pounds heavier and taking medicine every day for Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. Then he too switched to a plant-based diet. "In 28 days, what I couldn't do in five years, I was able to get off all the medications," Cooper said. "I haven't been on medication since." All because in a world where arterial-stents and open-heart surgeries are considered "normal," a man in Texas draws headlines for eating his vegetables. "The end result is it's been a success in people's lives that we've seen," Mayor Smith said. "We've seen phenomenal changes in people's health."
