So many people in the industrialized nations are deficient in Vitamin D, it is truly an epidemic. When you consider that it is not just a vitamin, but also a pro-hormone, you can begin to understand the importance of this deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to weakened bones, yes, but it can also lead to weakened immune systems as well. The risk of cancer, and many other illnesses, increases with a dropping vitamin D level. The best way to get Vitamin D is from the Sun and from your diet. If you live too far north for the Sun, and can't get enough in your diet, then you should supplement. Having a healthy Vitamin D level is very important to your good health and longevity. *Vitamin D & Weight Loss Video: https://youtu.be/M0GBrrt2YWI * ------- Join me and let's optimize your health! ------- A Good Vit D Supplement: https://amzn.to/2I1UFmz Vit D + Vit K2 Supplement: https://amzn.to/2rry7FC Get Dr Berry's Best-Selling Book: LIES MY DOCTOR TOLD ME 📕--▶ http://a.co/g53H5g7 FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/kendberry.md/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/kendberry.md/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/KenDBerryMD Thanks so much to Mary C., Lisa G., Paul R., Doyle R., Robyn D., Jeff P., Joe W., and John C. for being generous Patrons, and helping make this video possible… ▶You can help too, by becoming a Patron: https://goo.gl/kJJYws 🆕 Patron-Only FaceBook Page: https://goo.gl/XLVjmc (you may have to type a code to prove you're human) 📳Speak with Dr. Berry face-to-face about medical questions you might have using eVisit: https://goo.gl/7ibtW5 Ken D Berry, MD, FAAFP, is a Board Certified Family Physician and Fellow in The American Academy of Family Physicians. "Vitamin D Update" is a presentation by William Grant, PhD that took place on October 19, 2017 at Silicon Valley Health Institute. Vitamin D is a vitamin that improves most of the contributing factors to chronic disease including inflammation and oxidative stress. It has been shown to be beneficial in conditions such as autism, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, depression, psoriasis, osteoporosis, respiratory tract infections, cancer, Alzheimer's Disease, food allergies, and pregnancy. William B. Grant has PhD in physics from the University of California, Berkeley (1971). He had a 30-year career in atmospheric sciences with an emphasis on laser remote sensing of atmospheric constituents such as ozone and aerosols, with positions at SRI International (1973-79), the Jet Propulsion Laboratory/California Intitute of Technology (1979-89) and NASA Langley Research Center (1989-2004). He turned to health research in 1996, publishing the first paper linking diet to risk of Alzheimer’s disease in 1997, followed by studies of sugar, fat and coronary heart disease in 1998, and animal products and cancer risk in 1998. In 1999 he turned his attention to the role of solar ultraviolet-B exposure in reducing risk of many types of cancer through production of vitamin D in 2002. After retirement from NASA in 2004, he moved to San Francisco and formed the nonprofit organization Sunlight, Nutrition and Health Research Center (http://www.sunarc.org), where he spends most of his time studying the role of solar UVB exposure and vitamin D in reducing risk of cancer and many other types of disease. He also investigates the role of diet in risk of Alzheimer's disease and cancer. He has about 300 health publications listed at www.pubmed.gov, of which 210 are related to vitamin D, with 78 of these also on ultraviolet radiation and human health, and 41 to diet and disease. Vitamin D Guidelines May Be Changed Following New Study

with Dr. Cedric Garland of UCSD Moores Cancer Center Topic: Vitamin D Research Controversy By: Dr. Cedric Garland Event date: 02/04/14 Here is a short text by Dr. Cedric Garland about the Autier paper, Vitamin D status and ill health: a systematic review. "This meta-analysis is nothing new and is already obsolete, since it is mainly based on old papers that used too little vitamin D to expect any effect. A New Zealand study saying we should only supplement people with vitamin D deficiency and evidence of bone loss is equally wrong. Virtually everyone in New Zealand, and most adults in the US, are vitamin D deficient by modern criteria, being below 32 ng/ml. The reality is that we now know that they are deficient with regard to extraskeletal effects of 25(OH)D if their serum level is below 40 ng/ml. These papers should be disregarded as obsolete work. We are moving into a new era of using vitamin D3 in doses no less that 4,000 IU/day for people aged 9 years and older (The NAS-IOM total upper level intakes [TULI's] that are safe for daily use per NAS-IOM monograph, 2011). Studies using less than 4000 IU/day are on the verge of obsolescence. It does not matter much that giving 400 IU/d in the meta-analysis being cited did not achieve very much -- the amount given to the subjects was less than a tenth the effective dose. The authors of this review did not use any epidemiological research and they appear to have paid no attention in their conclusions to the only RCT that was relevant, that of Lappe et al. in 2007. Lapper et al. used 1100 IU/day of vitamin D3 and 1500 mg/day of calcium. They achieved a serum level of approximately 40 ng/ml. It reported a 77% reduction in incidence of all invasive cancer combined, after a 1-year run-in period. The benefit was 60% less cancer without a run-in period. These cancers included breast, colon, lung and others. The women in the Lappe et al. RCT were very compliant. The result was statistically significant. The Lappe et al, study and the many supportive epidemiological studies that preceded and followed it should prove to even the most ill-informed skeptic that vitamin D prevents most cancer. It is incredible that the authors of this review virtually disregarded all of the relevant epidemiology this randomized controlled clinical trial. Several scientists have informed the editors of the journal, that published the review, presenting their objections to the conclusions this study reached, they were based on obsolete low-dose vitamin D studies, and that they virtually totally neglected the work of the entire science of epidemiology. Doctors and their patients should not be discouraged by this obsolete review. Patients aged 9 years and older can take 4,000 IU/day of vitamin D3 safely according to the National Academy of Sciences-Institute of Medicine (2011 monograph). The benefits of such a dose will be substantial. The scientific data already accumulated is easily strong enough to support this. Serum 25(OH)D should be monitored regularly in any event, and serum calcium in older adults or anyone where there is a concern about hypercalcemia. It is true that the current NAS-IOM RDA is 600-800 IU/day of vitamin D3, but higher doses seem far more logical and safer now for most people based on studies and the Lappe et al RCT of 1100 IU/day of vitamin D3. Sale and intake of vitamin D2 should end, as there is no solid support for its efficacy against non-skeletal diseases, unlike vitamin D3. Another supporting clinical trial would be good, but we have a great one in Lappe et al. If we ever decide to do another RCT we should use no less than 4000 IU/d of vitamin D3 and 1000-1250 mg/day of calcium. Such a trial may be impossible, though, because members of the placebo group may eventually take supplements on their own, or human subjects protection committees may not allow depriving anyone of vitamin D at these doses in this emerging era of knowledge about their powerful benefits at appropriate, monitored doses in preventing very serious diseases that we have never before been able to effectively prevent, including breast cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, type 1 diabetes, and much of multiple sclerosis and type 2 diabetes. It is an exciting time for using vitamin D at no less than 4000 IU/day with regular serum 25(OH)D monitoring to prevent these fatal diseases. In this video you'll discover the nootropic benefits of Vitamin D. Including why we use Vitamin D as a nootropic, recommended dosage, side effects and clinical research. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol or calciol) is unique because it is not a standard vitamin. It’s actually a fat-soluble steroid hormone. Vitamin D is mostly made in your skin from sun exposure. Not primarily from food like most of our other vitamins. As a nootropic, Vitamin D is critical for the synthesis of GABA, glutamate and glutamine, and dopamine in your brain. Vitamin D is involved in gene expression, regulation of neurotrophic factors, neuroplasticity, and brain development early in life. All in areas of the brain associated with depression. And the neuroplasticity needed for memory formation and retrieval. Vitamin D protects your brain from DNA damage through prevention of telomere shortening and inhibition of telomerase activity. And prevents oxidative damage to DNA. Vitamin D3 is the fat-soluble steroid hormone form of Vitamin D. The “sunshine vitamin” is considered essential. Your skin synthesizes Vitamin D3 from ultraviolet-B (UVB) sunlight. As a neurohacker, you should be aware that you are likely deficient in this essential vitamin. Vitamin D deficiency (hypovitaminosis D) is an undeclared worldwide pandemic affecting nearly 50% of the population on this planet. The preferred method for getting adequate Vitamin D is from UVB sunlight on exposed skin. But all kinds of things can interfere with getting enough Vitamin D from sunlight. Fall and Winter in both hemispheres, cloud cover, smog, skin color, sunscreen, and too much clothing are all factors. And most of us spend so much time indoors, to get its benefits you should take Vitamin D3 as a supplement. Recommended Vitamin D3 dosage is 4,000 IU’s per day. For years doctors have mistakenly told their patients (you) that you only need 400-800 IU of Vitamin D daily (if they even mention it at all). Those days are gone and Every doctor should be recommending at least 4,000 IU of Vitamin D3. Many doctors will tell you taking more than 800 IU of vitamin D is dangerous, this is just not true, and these two research studies prove that. Vitamin D is a vitamin and a pro-hormone, and is vital for the proper function of many biochemical reactions in your body. Yes, you can overdose by taking high amounts of vitamin D3 without vitamin K2 and end up with hypercalcemia (high blood calcium). Vitamin K2 takes calcium from the soft tissue and from the blood and sticks it into the bone. If a person is taking lots of vitamin D with calcium, then it's even worst. The symptoms of too much calcium can be vomiting, kidney stones, abdominal pain, depression, frequent urination, extra thirst and heart problems. Is Vitamin D Good or Bad For Diabetes? Download Diabetes Management Book: http://bit.ly/2g0NDAH Hello, I'm Ty Mason from TheDiabetesCouncil.com, researcher, writer and I have type 2 diabetes. Today I'm going to answer the question, is Vitamin D good for diabetes. But before we get into that, make sure you download my free diabetes management book which also includes diabetes grocery shopping guide (foods to eat and avoid) by clicking the link: http://bit.ly/2g0NDAH I remember vividly as a child milk coming in those waxy, cardboard-type half gallon cartons. Am I aging myself? On the side of those cartons would be a picture with big letters VITAMIN D. I had no idea what Vitamin D was. I didnt have a clue. All I knew was my mother told me it was good for me and I had to drink my milk. To this day I still love milk, the blue kind not the red. Vitamin D is often called the sunshine vitamin. Why? Basically because it is produced in your skin in response to sunlight. That actually makes sense. I know what some of you are thinking, I was told to drink my milk so I could have healthy bones! And that is true. Vitamin D is responsible for bone health because it helps your body absorb calcium and phosphorus, 2 of the main bone building minerals. But Vitamin D is more than just for bones. A 2011 study by the Mayo Clinic concluded that Vitamin D also played a positive role in cardiovascular health , cancer, multiple sclerosis, allergy, asthma, infection, depression, psychiatric health, pain AND diabetes. The American Diabetes Association recently published a study stating that a deficiency of Vitamin D has been linked to the development of diabetes, both Type 1 and Type 2. Evidence shows that Vitamin D improves glucose tolerance and improved insulin secretion. A study published in June, 2007 concluded that insufficient vitamin D and calcium is detrimental to proper control of blood glucose. The study was conducted by Anastassios G. Pittas for the JOURNAL OF CLINICAL ENDOCRINOLOGY & METABOLISM. The conclusion of the study stated Vitamin D and calcium insufficiency may negatively influence glycemia, whereas combined supplementation with both nutrients may be beneficial in optimizing glucose metabolism. So, is Vitamin D good for diabetes? Yes it is! Evidence is growing that while scientists truly dont understand why, Vitamin D and calcium play a major role in stabilizing blood sugar. The question then becomes, how do I get more? One great way to get Vitamin D wont cost you anything. Michael Holick, a researcher for the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that, 530 minutes of sun exposure between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at least twice per week on the skin of the face, arms, back, or legs (without sunscreen) is usually adequate for vitamin D synthesis. The problem is our fear of skin cancer has caused us to lather on so much sun screen, the skin cannot absorb Vitamin D. The skin will not absorb sunlight through a window or glass. Drinking whole milk is a good source of Vitamin D and calcium, but also contains sugars. So, I suggest, as always, consult your family health care provider and discuss supplements. Vitamin D and calcium supplements are ready available in most stores or online. Again, before taking them, consult your health are provider. I hope this answered your question is Vitamin D good or bad for diabetes. In a new study, researchers at the UCSD School of Medicine and Moores Cancer Center used a complex computer prediction model to determine that intake of vitamin D3 and calcium would prevent 58,000 new cases of breast cancer and 49,000 new cases of colorectal cancer annually in the US and Canada. The researchers model also predicted that 75% of deaths from these cancers could be prevented with adequate intake of vitamin D3 and calcium. Transcript: You may have heard that vitamin D is good for bones and teeth, but new research suggests it can also help heal damaged hearts. Early findings from a study out of England's University of Leeds show that vitamin D-3 pills significantly improved heart function in patients with congestive heart failure, increasing the amount of blood the heart pumps with each beat by 8 percentage points. The researchers behind the study called the results "stunning" and unlike any treatment breakthrough of the past 15 years. For some patients, the vitamin could even replace implantable cardioverter defibrillators as a primary treatment of heart failure. Unlike ICDs, vitamin D is cheap, causes no side effects and doesn't require surgery. The study is still ongoing, but the early results are promising for the roughly 23 million people around the world affected by heart failure. For a natural boost, the human skin produces vitamin D during sun exposure. The "sunshine vitamin" can also be found in oily fish and eggs. Wondering why so many people are being diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency? One reason is that the threshold for deficiency has been lowered – a lot. While many people continue to blame our epidemic of hypertension on salt, studies continue to show that while salt restriction can be beneficial for a few, it is not a good idea for most.

However, for many people, the symptoms are subtle. Yet, even without symptoms, too little vitamin D can pose health risks. Low blood levels of the vitamin have been associated with the following: Increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease Cognitive impairment in older adults Severe asthma in children Cancer Research suggests that vitamin D could play a role in the prevention and treatment of a number of different conditions, including type1 and type 2 diabetes, hypertension, glucose intolerance, and multiple sclerosis. Vitamin D deficiency can occur for a number of reasons. You don't consume the recommended levels of the vitamin over time. This is likely if you follow a strict vegan diet, because most of the natural sources are animal-based, including fish and fish oils, egg yolks, cheese, fortified milk, and beef liver. Your exposure to sunlight is limited. Because the body makes vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight, you may be at risk of deficiency if you are homebound, live in northern latitudes, wear long robes or head coverings for religious reasons, or have an occupation that prevents sun exposure. You have dark skin. The pigment melanin reduces the skin's ability to make vitamin D in response to sunlight exposure. Some studies show that older adults with darker skin are at high risk of vitamin D deficiency.Your kidneys cannot convert vitamin D to its active form. As people age, their kidneys are less able to convert vitamin D to its active form, thus increasing their risk of vitamin D deficiency. Your digestive tract cannot adequately absorb vitamin D. Certain medical problems, including Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, and celiac disease, can affect your intestine's ability to absorb vitamin D from the food you eat. You are obese. Vitamin D is extracted from the blood by fat cells, altering its release into the circulation. People with a body mass index of 30 or greater often have low blood levels of vitamin D. Treatment for vitamin D deficiency involves getting more vitamin D -- through diet and supplements. Although there is no consensus on vitamin D levels required for optimal health -- and it likely differs depending on age and health conditions -- a concentration of less than 20 nanograms per milliliter is generally considered inadequate, requiring treatment. Guidelines from the Institute of Medicine increased the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of vitamin D to 600 international units (IU) for everyone ages 1-70, and raised it to 800 IU for adults older than age 70 to optimize bone health. The safe upper limit was also raised to 4,000 IUs. If you don't spend much time in the sun or always are careful to cover your skin (sunscreen inhibits vitamin D production), you should speak to your doctor about taking a vitamin D supplement, particularly if you have risk factors for vitamin D deficiency. I'm Alex Villarreal with the VOA Special English Health Report, from http://voaspecialenglish.com | http://facebook.com/voalearningenglish Many people have low amounts of iron in their blood. But pregnant women need extra iron for their own health and their baby's health. Iron is important to the development of a baby's brain and central nervous system. In poor countries, however, providing all pregnant women with iron supplements can be a financial issue. Some experts say giving supplements to babies after they are born is enough. Someone who disagrees is Parul Christian, a nutritionist at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Maryland. She and other scientists have been doing research in Nepal. She says their latest findings should settle any question about the value of making sure every pregnant woman receives iron supplements. Iron is a micronutrient. Micronutrients are important substances that are found in small amounts in foods. The researchers first completed a study among poor women in Nepal ten years ago. During pregnancy some of the women received supplements containing iron and another micronutrient, folic acid.Ms. Christian says that study showed the supplements could improve child survival. Now the children are older. The researchers returned to Nepal and tested their neurological development. They found improved abilities among those whose mothers had received iron and folic acid during pregnancy and for three months after. Another new study looks at levels of vitamin D in babies. It says newborns with the lowest levels were twice as likely to develop respiratory infections as those with normal levels of vitamin D. Vitamin D helps build strong bones and strengthens the body's defenses against disease. The vitamin is commonly added to cow's milk and also found in supplements. Vitamin D is called the sunshine vitamin. The body naturally produces it from sunlight. Carlos Camargo from Harvard Medical School in Massachusetts and other researchers did the study. It followed more than nine hundred children in New Zealand until they were five years old. Dr. Camargo said the problem of vitamin D deficiency is not limited to countries with the least sun. There are low levels of vitamin D in people living in areas where there is a lot of sun. This is because people are spending more time indoors. For VOA Special English I'm Alex Villarreal. One of the very first Medical Lies I remember being taught in medical school was that Vitamin D drops were necessary for exclusively breastfed babies because human mothers don't secrete Vitamin D in their breast milk. It struck me as very odd at the time, but I was too busy and too tired to research it, so I filed it away for later. A few years later I finally had time to look into this "fact" and I found a large study done by a researcher in the Carolinas which showed this to be just what it was, a medical lie. I was so happy to find out this wasn't true, when lactating moms are given the right building blocks to make their milk with... My psychiatrist, Dr. John Cannell of the Vitamin D Council, joins me for an interview about the correlation between vitamin D deficiency and the incidence of autism. Dr. Cannell also has recommendations for appropriate levels of vitamin D intake, for those on the autism spectrum and for those who are not. We also touch on cannabis use and the transgender agenda. Yet another study shows that vitamin D supplementation improves blood work but does not improve health Advocates of low-carb diets who claim that eating more fat and protein improves health either do not read the studies they cite, or count on the fact that you won’t read them. They really do not support the claims.

The bad news never stops with supplements. According to a new study, taking resveratrol pills actually negates many of the benefits of exercise, and vitamin D does not help lower blood pressure. Not surprising, but this information does not seem to affect the enthusiasm for supplements in some circles!!

New Delhi, Jun 09 (ANI): High vitamin D levels are linked to lower cholesterol in children, according to a study The researchers found that the link between higher serum vitamin D levels and lower plasma cholesterol levels was independent of body adiposity, dietary factors, physical activity, parental education, and day length prior to blood sampling. Moreover, hereditary factors that have previously been linked to serum vitamin D levels did not modify the observed association. More research is needed to uncover the reasons behind the inverse association of serum vitamin D with plasma lipid levels. The new findings provide support for the importance of following recommendations for vitamin D intake. The findings were reported in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ☛ Subscribe to our Youtube Channel - https://goo.gl/k1Aee1 ☛ Visit our Official website: https://www.aninews.in/ Enjoy and stay connected with us!! ☛ Like us: https://www.facebook.com/ANINEWS.IN ☛Follow us : https://twitter.com/ANI ☛ Circle us : https://goo.gl/QN5kXy ☛ Feedback to Shrawan K Poddar : email@example.com
