Antibiotics are medicines used to treat bacterial infections. There are different types of antibiotics that work against different strains of bacteria and some types of parasites. When used properly, they either kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause a particular health problem. This in turn helps your natural immune system fight the infection. But antibiotics often have side effects that cause other temporary health issues. Some common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, vaginal yeast infections, allergic reactions and inner ear problems. 1. Eat Probiotic Yogurt When taking antibiotics, it is highly recommended to include yogurt with ‘good bacteria’ in your diet. Eating yogurt that contains ‘live cultures’ (also labeled as probiotic yogurt) helps your body recover from diarrhea, one of the common side effects of antibiotics. These live cultures are gut-friendly bacteria that provide a layer of protection in the intestines and help generate lactic acid to get bacterial toxins out of the body. 2. Eat Fermented Foods or Take a Probiotic Supplement. Apart from yogurt, many fermented foods naturally contain a high amount of probiotics. So, in addition to yogurt, include kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut, pickles, pickled beets, pickled turnips, pickled carrots and kimchi in your diet. 3. Eat Garlic. Garlic is a natural antibiotic that helps kill harmful microbes without the side effects of antibiotic medicines. Also, it contains an important compound known as allicin that protects your kidneys and liver from the potential damage of antibiotics. 4. Take Milk Thistle Supplements. Taking traditional antibiotics can be hard on your liver, which is responsible for breaking down the medications you ingest. To protect your liver from any damage due to a course of antibiotics, the herb milk thistle is very effective. The rich antioxidants in this herb help protect the liver. 5. Sip Ginger Tea Whether you suffer from diarrhea, nausea or vomiting due to prescribed antibiotics, ginger is effective in dealing with these side effects. Ginger’s natural antibiotic property helps prevent and treat many health problems caused by bacteria. Fresh ginger has an antibiotic effect against food-borne pathogens as well as respiratory and periodontal infections. 6. Eat Bland Foods. Some of the most widely reported side effects of antibitoics include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. To counter these issues, it is advisable that you eat only bland food during and after a cource of antibiotics. These types of food inlcude dry crackers, plain bread, white rice, etc. 7. Drink Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic. Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties that help fight harmful bacteria in your body. Also, it is a good remedy for controlling diarrhea, one of the common side effects of antibiotic medicine. 8. Drink Enough Fluids. To counter dry mouth caused by medicines and a mild loss of fluids from diarrhea or vomiting, drink more water. Drinking an ample amount of water throughout the day will keep your body hydrated. For a more-severe loss of water, drink fluids that contain water, sugar and salt to help replace electrolytes that the body needs. 9. Stay Healthy. One way to deal with side effects of antibiotics is to stay healthy so you don’t have to take them for long. Take steps to support your health in the following way. 10. Take Antibiotics as Directed. Last but not least, you must always take your antibiotic medicine as directed by your physician. For instance, some antibiotics should be taken only with water. Others need to be taken with food in order to increase their absorption in the body and ward off an upset stomach, a common side effect of antibiotics. Antibiotic Body Damage Recovery (Levaquin Cipro Side Effects and How I Healed)

09:06
It is my opinion only, that the damage these antibiotics are causing to people's bodies may be partially or fully due to the drug's destruction of crucially important healthy forms of bacteria in the gut. This, along with leaky gut which I believe is epidemic, may cause both a fungal version of yeast called candida to breach the barrier in the gut, and give the immune system a particularly difficult time managing it, as well as oxalate to also permeate the entire body causing a potential double-whammy that if addressed, may reverse the condition. Lots to be pissed off about with this situation. But one biggie is in how people are being told this condition is permanent. Although I believe it can be difficult to reverse, I believe it is entirely possible if approached from the above theoretical standpoint. That is how I approached it, and have had tremendous results. See my programs as well as the free info over at http://MaintenanceMotions.com. If you have some organic expeller-pressed coconut oil...or oil of your choice according to options available via Ayurvedic tradition...I'd give oil pulling a try, sticking with it for a solid few months. I have found it to be incredibly effective for joint/tendon issues, with dietary change, gut health with probiotics, and candida management to offer profound improvements. I need to consistently maintain the effort, but it's a part of my lifestyle regardless. Then I added some high quality ubiquinol to assist with mitochondrial damage, and energy production. http://FacelessFatloss.com My Over 40 program: http://Over40andRipped.com And Facebook: http://facebook.com/tim.ripped Love, Happiness, Health and Peace.........Tim .

Accutane- 5 tips by Dermatologists

06:06
http://www.fioriinstitute.com For tips on having acne free skin Accutane – 5 Tips by Dermatologists Accutane or Roaccutane is a tablet is also known as isotretinoin and is a form of vitamin A. It has been the mainstay for the management of severe acne or scarring acne in Australia, Europe, US and Asia for the past 30 years. Accutane works by targeting the oil glands, and reducing oil production. In lower does it can help remodel dermal collagen and reduce scar formation- including acne scars, Accutane can also reduce blackheads, whiteheads, zits, cysts and pimples. Should I go on Accutane for my acne? Roaccutane should only be used if your acne is severe, cystic or scarring. An off label indication of Roaccutane is if your acne does not respond to normal acne medications. An assessment and discussion with a Dermatologist is needed to ascertain if you are suitable for this medication, as there are numerous side-effects associated with this drug. Accutane has a 99% success rate for the treatment of acne. An average person will need a course lasting between 7-10 months. Improvement is seen within a few weeks of starting this medication. In severe cases of acne, an early and transient ‘flare up’ maybe seen, however your Specialist will undertake steps to minimise this side-effect. What side effects can I expect on Accutane? The most common side effect is dryness of the lips and skin. Universally seen common and very easy to manage. Moisturise frequently and you will sail thru the course of treatment. Use a lip balm at least 3-5 times per day, and moisturise your skin at least twice a day. Some patients may get dry eyes on Roaccutane/ Accutane and using eye drops may help, especially if you wear contact lenses. Your Dermatologist will also order special blood tests throughout your treatment course, making sure your Liver and Cholesterol levels are in check. Female patients are warned in regards to the serious consequences in regards to birth defects whilst on Accutane. Other side effects that are less common including- Flare up of acne (usually early in the course of treatment) Headaches Abnormal period cycles Muscle aches and pains Ingrown toe and finger nails Abdominal symptoms Mood changes and depression How long is a course of Roaccutane treatment? The course of Roaccutane/ Oratane is variable and will depend on many factors including the type of acne, your body weight, the location of your acne and the side effects you may experience on this tablet. As a guide- Average length of treatment 6-9 months Severe acne involving bacne acne, trunkal acne 10-12 months Low dose Roaccutane / Oratane program 14-20 months Your Dermatologist will decide as to what is the optimal course of Roaccutane/ Accutane treatment based upon your acne type and your lifestyle. Will a course of Accutane treat my acne scars? That is a difficult question to answer, as results are variable. Accutane is not designed as a treatment for acne scars, but a treatment to treat and cure acne. Treating active acne forms the foundation for acne scar treatment. In regards to Accutane and acne scars the following facts apply- Some patients can receive mild improvement of acne scars on this drug. Low dose Accutane has been shown to remodel scars and increase collagen production. Roaccutane/ Accutane patients are not candidates for laser scar revision during the course of Roaccutane, and a wash out period of 3-6 months will be needed. We now have a method of treating acne patients on Roaccutane with a non- laser method of scar revision called RF or RadioFrequency. This treatment has proven to be safe and effective in the majority of patients, however careful monitoring is needed. This forms the basis of the Acne Free RF Program, which was designed by Dr Davin Lim. What skin care should I use whilst on Accutane/ Roaccutane Treatment? Looking after your skin whist on Roaccutane/ Oratane/ Accutane is vitally important and can markedly reduce the side effects of this medication. Keep your acne skin care regime simple, and moisturise frequently! Clean your skin twice a day with a low irritant cleanser- I recommend Cetaphil, QV Wash or Neutrogena Gentle wash. Moisturise your skin twice a day- I recommend Cetaphil moisturiser. Moisturise your lips 4-6 times a day, most importantly just before bedtime as this will reduce severity of ‘dry lips on roaccutane’. Using a high factor SPF sunscreen twice a day can reduce the incidence of sunburn on this medication. I recommend La Roche Posay. What Is Keto Rash?

02:09
Get Purified Biles Salts Here: https://shop.drberg.com/gallbladder-f... Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about keto rash. When you release more fat than usual. Fat is the substance that stores all sorts of toxins. And if your liver or gallbladder is not releasing toxins in a regular manner, your body could back up with toxic slug causing a reaction in the skin. Hi guys its Dr. Berg, in this short video I want to discuss this thing called keto rash. Here you go in this ketogenic diet and you end up with this terrible rash. If you look this up there is not much information about this and it’s hard to know what it is and so people try all sorts of things and they would start eating more carbs. This is my theory about what it is, if you look at a rash it is usually itchy called pruritus. Itchiness is coming from the liver. High levels of histamines are dumped up in to the liver because when you switch over to ketogenic and or you are running on ketones, you are releasing tons of fat that is coming out through the liver and if you don’t consume enough vegetables you are going to actually have a fatty liver but you are dumping more fat and that fat holds a lot of stuff like chemicals and toxins. If you don’t have enough bile in your gallbladder and you do a ketogenic diet, you might not be able to release the toxins that are coming out with the fat in the proper matter and you are going to create a little bit of the immune reaction with the histamines. One of the purposes of bile is to break down fats but the other purpose is to eliminate toxins. The solution is to add purified bile salts, you can use my formula which is the gallbladder formula or you can just find purified bile salts but it will increase the flow of the bile to the liver and gallbladder so you will eliminate the toxins a lot better and reduce the rash reaction that is occurring. Does Laser Hair Treatment Work? The Science Behind It

06:15
I'm not much of a science guy, but I do love anything that is proven to help strengthen hair, and slow or prevent hair loss. My friend Steve Cook has no affiliation with any laser company, but he does hair consultations daily with men and women experiencing hair loss (since he work's for hair transplant surgeon Dr. Daniel McGrath). He's been able to see first hand the changes laser has made in various hair loss cases so I wanted him to share a couple with us. He's also a bit more scientific than me so I brought him in to ask more about laser and show us some before and after pictures of patients who he personally suggested start using laser. Now, it must be understood that not everyone will have the same results from laser, it's like any other medical treatment or workout regime ...results may vary, but generally speaking if you're experiencing hair loss or thinning there's an excellent chance your hair will be better off for using it. I've tried many different kinds of laser devices as mentioned, and iRestore is my personal favorite. I'm an official endorser of iRestore's laser helmet and work with them to promote what I feel is one of the best ways combat hair loss. I've seen impressive new growth results from many guys who have sent me their pictures after using iRestore after approx 6 months of regular use. Enough that I'm convince of it's positive benefit to hair follicles, and I use my own helmet religiously every other day. Low level laser therapy is scientifically proven to help strengthen your remaining hair so that you keep it longer, and in many cases even re-grow some the hair you've lost. I've used a laser helmet for years, and the best part is that there are no negative side effects like there are with virtually every other type of hair treatment product. Thanks to my endorsement of iRestore they've offered my followers a $150 off coupon if you use the link and code below. LINK TO iRESTORE: http://bit.ly/2pjMDfy Promo Code for $150 OFF a laser helmet: REGROWTH150 iRestore offers a 6 month money back guarantee with every purchase, PLUS they even pay for the return shipping. So feel free to try laser and if after 5 months if you don't feel it's helpful for you personally then mail it back and they'll pay for the return. Rocky Mountain spotted fever (Rickettsial fever)

Initial signs and symptoms of the disease include sudden onset of fever, headache, and muscle pain, followed by development of rash. The disease is caused by Rickettsia rickettsii, a species of bacterium that is spread to humans by Dermacentor ticks. The disease can be difficult to diagnose in the early stages. It is distinct from the viral tick-borne infection, Colorado tick fever. Rocky Mountain spotted fever is a potentially life-threatening infectious disease. Approximately 0.3% of people who become ill with Rocky Mountain spotted fever die from the infection. Antibiotics has reduced the number of deaths. Before the discovery of tetracycline and chloramphenicol during the latter 1940s, as many as 30% of those infected with R. rickettsii died. Spotted fever can be very difficult to diagnose in its early stages, and even experienced doctors who are familiar with the disease find it hard to detect. People infected with R. rickettsii usually notice symptoms following an incubation period of one to two weeks after a tick bite. The early clinical presentation of Rocky Mountain spotted fever is nonspecific and may resemble a variety of other infectious and non-infectious diseases. Initial symptoms: Fever Nausea Emesis (vomiting) Severe headache Muscle pain Lack of appetite Parotitis in some cases (somewhat rare) Later signs and symptoms: Maculopapular rash Petechial rash Abdominal pain Joint pain Conjunctivitis Forgetfulness The classic triad of findings for this disease are fever, rash, and history of tick bite. However, this combination is often not identified when the people initially presents for care. The rash has a centripetal, or "inward" pattern of spread, meaning it begins at the extremities and courses towards the trunk. The rash first appears two to five days after the onset of fever, and it is often quite subtle. Younger patients usually develop the rash earlier than older patients. Most often the rash begins as small, flat, pink, non-itchy spots (macules) on the wrists, forearms, and ankles. These spots turn pale when pressure is applied and eventually become raised on the skin. The characteristic red, spotted (petechial) rash of Rocky Mountain spotted fever is usually not seen until the sixth day or later after onset of symptoms, but this type of rash occurs in only 35 to 60% of patients with Rocky Mountain spotted fever. The rash involves the palms or soles in as many as 80% of people. However, this distribution may not occur until later on in the course of the disease. As many as 15 percent of patients may never develop a rash. Abnormal laboratory findings seen in patients with Rocky Mountain spotted fever may include a low platelet count, low blood sodium concentration, or elevated liver enzyme levels. Serology testing and skin biopsy are considered to be the best methods of diagnosis. Although immunofluorescent antibody assays are considered some of the best serology tests available, most antibodies that fight against R. rickettsii are undetectable on serology tests the first seven days after infection. Appropriate antibiotic treatment should be started immediately when there is a suspicion of Rocky Mountain spotted fever on the basis of clinical and epidemiological findings. Treatment should not be delayed until laboratory confirmation is obtained. In fact, failure to respond to a tetracycline argues against a diagnosis of Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Severely ill patients may require longer periods before their fever resolves, especially if they have experienced damage to multiple organ systems. Preventive therapy in healthy patients who have had recent tick bites is not recommended and may, in fact, only delay the onset of disease. Doxycycline (a tetracycline) (for adults at 100 milligrams every 12 hours, or for children under 45 kg at 4 mg/kg of body weight per day in two divided doses) is the drug of choice for patients with Rocky Mountain spotted fever, being one of the only instances doxycycline is used in children.[13] Treatment should be continued for at least three days after the fever subsides, and until there is unequivocal evidence of clinical improvement. This will be generally for a minimum time of five to ten days. Severe or complicated outbreaks may require longer treatment courses. Doxycycline/ tetracycline is also the preferred drug for patients with ehrlichiosis, another tick-transmitted infection with signs and symptoms that may resemble those of Rocky Mountain spotted fever. more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Mountain_spotted_fever

Norflox-TZ Tablet नॉरफ्लॉक्स टीज़ेड टैबलेट uses side effects dosage precaution how to use & review NORFLOX-TZ Tablets (Norfloxacin , Tinidazole , Lactic acid bacillus) NORFLOX-TZ Each Film coated Tablet contains Norfloxacin IP......400 mg Tinidazole IP......600 mg Lactic Acid Bacillus......120 x 106 spores (Appropriate overages added) Colours :Titanium Dioxide and Lake Quinoline Yellow WS Norfloxacin inhibits bacterial deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis and is bactericidal. At the molecular level, three specific events are attributed to norfloxacin in Escherichia coli cells Norfloxacin has been shown to be active against most strains of the following microorganisms both in vitro and in clinical infections: Gram-positive Aerobes Enterococcus faecalis Staphylococcus aureus Staphylococcus epidermidis Staphylococcus saprophyticus Streptococcus agalactiae Gram-negative Aerobes Citrobacterfreundii Enterobacteraerogenes Enterobacter cloacae Escherichia coli Klebsiellapneumoniae Neisseria gonorrhoeae Proteus mirabilis Proteus vulgaris Pseudomonas aeruginosa Serratiamarcescens Tinidazole Tinidazole is an antiprotozoal, antibacterial agent. The nitro-group of tinidazole is reduced by cell extracts of Trichomonas. The free nitro-radical generated as a result of this reduction may be responsible for the antiprotozoal activity. Indications Treatment of diarrhea and dysentery of amoebic, bacterial or mixed origins. Dosage and Administration The dosage is one tablet twice daily for 5 days. Contraindications In patients hypersensitive to quinolone or to tinidazole or any other excipient History of hypersensitivity, tendinitis, or tendon rupture associated with the use of norfloxacin or any member of the quinolone group of antimicrobial agents Tinidazole should be avoided in patients with organic neurological disorders. Tinidazole is contraindicated in patients having, or with a history of, blood dyscrasia, although no persistent haematological abnormalities have been noted in clinical or animal studies. Warnings and Precautions Tendinopathy and Tendon Rupture Fluoroquinolones, including norfloxacin, are associated with an increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture in all ages. This adverse reaction most frequently involves the Achilles' tendon, and rupture of the Achilles' tendon may require surgical repair. Tendinitis and tendon rupture in the rotator cuff (the shoulder), the hand, the biceps, the thumb, and other tendon sites have also been reported. The risk of developing fluoroquinolone-associated tendinitis and tendon rupture is further increased in older patients, usually over 60 years of age, in patients taking corticosteroid drugs, and in patients with kidney, heart or lung transplants. Factors, in addition to age and corticosteroid use, that may independently increase the risk of tendon rupture include strenuous physical activity, renal failure, and previous tendon disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis. Exacerbation of Myasthenia Gravis Fluoroquinolones, including norfloxacin, have neuromuscular blocking activity and may exacerbate muscle weakness in persons with myasthenia gravis. Safety in Children and Adolescents, and during Pregnancy and Lactation The safety and efficacy of oral norfloxacin in paediatric patients, adolescents (below the age of 18 years), pregnant women, and nursing mothers have not been established. The oral administration of single doses of norfloxacin, six times the recommended human clinical dose (on an mg/kg basis), caused lameness in immature dogs. Histologic examination of the weight-bearing joints of these dogs revealed permanent lesions of the cartilage. Other quinolones also produced erosions of the cartilage in weight-bearing joints and other signs of arthropathy in immature animals of various species. #onlinemedicine,#medicine,#ayurveda,#ayurved ,#Ayurvedic

Black Walnut pill twice a day for 5 days. Skip 2 days then repeat. After a month and some improvement, lower dose to one Black Walnut a day for 5 days, skip 2 then repeat. Continue to give for the rest of dogs life. Can also be used as a preventive measure to keep your dog from ever getting Heartworms in the first place. Same dose. Also for smalled dogs..... I have been trying to find something for smaller dogs. I have 2 10lbs dogs. I'm not sure about giving them a whole black walnut pill so I found a liquid black walnut. I'm sure you can get liquid black walnut anywhere but since I have used this company Nzymes.com before for my dog Bandit........also have a video on him becoming paralyzed. ...I decided to try their black walnut liquid. It's called BlackLeaf Tincture for Pets. It's $27.00 a bottle but at a few drops a day will last a long time. Just wanted to share what I'm using. You can use any black walnut liquid.

Treating a common but manageable skin condition – The Balancing Act offers solutions. Imagine having a chronic, inflammatory facial skin condition that can negatively impact the way you feel about yourself, and the way others perceive you. It’s called rosacea, and it affects 1 in 20 Americans – are you one of them? With symptoms including persistent facial redness, bumps and pimples, rosacea is often mistaken for acne, and a number of common factors can trigger it, such as spicy foods, alcohol and emotional stress — just to name a few. Recent studies have further shown that generally harmless microscopic Demodex mites may also be a culprit, which may appear in greater numbers on the faces of people with rosacea. Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Dimitry Palceski joins the Balancing Act on Lifetime Television to discuss this complex, challenging condition. Chronic - yes. But it can be managed — with a healthy skincare regimen, trigger management and prescription medication that treat the various symptoms. 1. Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa) is a major risk factor for localized aggressive periodontitis (LAP; Fine et al. 2007) and is used to induce the symptomatic chronic inflammatory condition in animal models (Schreiner et al. 2003; Garlet et al. 2005, 2007; Trombone et al. 2009; Li et al. 2010). Aa is particularly susceptible to the DNA gyrase inhibitor, ciprofloxacin (Hoogkamp-Korstanje & Roelofs-Willemse 2000, Muller et al. 2002). In one study mentioned prior, they compared the effect of seven antibiotics on A. actinomycetemcomitans. Here are the results. A total of 60 isolates of A. actinomycetemcomitans recovered from 43 individuals with gingivitis or periodontitis were tested. In addition, laboratory strains UP-6 and JP2 were analysed. The E-test was employed in order to determine minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of antibiotics ampicillin/sulbactam, roxithromycin, azithromycin, doxycycline, metronidazole, ciprofloxacin, and moxifloxacin. A. actinomycetemcomitans was highly susceptible to both fluoro-quinolones (MIC90 of 0.006 microgram/mL of ciprofloxacin and 0.032 microgram/mL of moxifloxacin). Good susceptibilities were found for ampicillin/sulbactam and doxycycline (MIC90 of 0.75 microgram/mL and 1 microgram/mL, respectively), and moderate susceptibilities for azithromycin (MIC90 of 3 microgram/mL). Most strains were resistant to metronidazole and roxithromycin. Due to reported favourable pharmacokinetics, the fluoro-quinolone moxifloxacin appeared to be a promising candidate for adjunctive systemic antibiotic therapy in periodontal infections with A. actinomycetemcomitans. 2. Chlamydia: Can You Catch It from Kissing?

10:05
Chlamydia: Can You Catch It from Kissing? What is chlamydia? Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that affects both men and women. It’s treatable, but it can lead to serious complications if you don’t get treatment for it. You can get chlamydia by having unprotected sex with an infected partner. A common misconception is that chlamydia is transferrable through kissing. Is this true? The short answer is, no. Symptoms of chlamydia The symptoms of chlamydia can include: a burning sensation during urination a smelly, abnormal discharge from the vagina or penis an unusual sore on or around the genitals swelling and pain in one or both testicles rectal pain anal bleeding vaginal bleeding between periods an eye infection or pneumonia in newborns The symptoms may appear several weeks after you have sex with a person who has chlamydia. Most people who have chlamydia don’t have any symptoms. Causes The bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis causes chlamydia. It can also cause other disorders, including: pelvic inflammatory disease pneumonia cervical inflammation You can’t transmit chlamydia through kissing, sharing drinking glasses, or hugging, but you can spread the disease: through unprotected vaginal, oral, or anal sex with someone who has the disease to your baby through childbirth if you’re pregnant and infected during unprotected sex with a male partner even if he doesn't ejaculate You can still contract chlamydia even if you had the disease previously and treated it. Visit your doctor right away if you or your partner notices any symptoms of chlamydia. What can you catch from kissing? While kissing doesn’t transmit chlamydia, a number of other conditions can spread through kissing from saliva or open cuts around the mouth. Those conditions include: the common cold and other viral infections influenza the Epstein-Barr virus, which is a common saliva-borne virus that can cause infectious mononucleosis herpes simplex virus, which is commonly known as a cold sore or fever blister hepatitis B, but only if there are abrasions or mouth sores caused by bites or trauma where blood can be exchanged cytomegalovirus, which is a common virus that can infect anyone but rarely causes symptoms tooth decay meningitis, which is the inflammation of the brain and spinal cord How common is chlamydia? Chlamydia is the most commonly reported STD, especially among women under 25 years old. It’s estimated that one in 20 sexually active women aged 14 to 24 years has chlamydia. Complications of chlamydia Chlamydia is sometimes painful and can cause serious health problems if you don’t get the proper treatment for it. In women, untreated chlamydia can spread to your uterus and fallopian tubes. This can cause permanent damage to your reproductive system. It can lead to difficulty conceiving, infertility, or possible fatal ectopic pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that occurs outside of the womb. Untreated chlamydia may also increase your risk of contracting HIV. Men rarely experience health problems related to chlamydia. Sometimes fever and pain can occur if the infection has spread to the tube that carries sperm from the testicles. Unlike in women, chlamydia generally won't impact a man's ability to have children. Diagnosis and treatment If you suspect you have chlamydia, your doctor will order lab tests and may ask for a urine sample or vaginal cotton swab. If your test results are positive for chlamydia, your doctor will prescribe antibiotics. Chlamydia typically goes away within one to two weeks. You should avoid sex during this time to prevent spreading the disease. Your doctor may prescribe a one-dose medication or a medication you'll take daily for about a week. If they prescribe a one-dose pill, you should wait seven days before having sex again. If you’re taking medication for seven days, wait a week after the final dose before engaging in sexual activity. You should also get tested again three months after you were treated for the disease, because repeat chlamydia infections are common. Prevention The best way to prevent chlamydia infection is to avoid unprotected sex with someone who has the disease. Follow these tips to protect yourself against chlamydia: Use condoms, either male latex condoms or female polyurethane, the right way every time you have sex. Ask your pharmacist or doctor if you’re unsure about the correct way to use a condom. Limit the number of sexual partners you have to reduce your risk of exposure. If you’re a woman, don't douche. Douching can increase your risk for infection because it reduces the number of good bacteria in the vagina.
