I have wanted to get to this video since the day i seen the first blooms pop up...In fact, I tried to get to it the day I filmed the magnolia tree video but it started raining on me. It pairs WELL with magnolia. Mimosa tree has been used for A LOT. It pairs well with other plants that will help to bring out its properties even more. Its been used for anxiety, depression and for grieving the loss of a loved one. Some have paired it with other depression and uplifting hers/trees to help a person feel better while calming. mildly sedative and therefore used for insomnia. Known to be antibacterial and anti-inflammatory so you may be able to use this tree where you need those properties as well...Be aware that you shouldnt use the mimosa tree when pregnant because he pushes or moves blood. (So promotes healing but you never want to cause bleeding when pregnant) The main constituents in the tree are tannins. Some women use it, paired with other herbs for an natural antioxidant! Because it promote blood flow and its gentle, it has often been used for male sexual organs as well. Parts used, bark, flowers, roots, seeds, and leaves. Bark and flowers mostly. How to use: You can make tinctures, capsules, dried, infusion or teas! ATTENTION: this video is not intended to treat, diagnose, or cure any illness. Please, seek a medical professional for medical advice.

I captured these beautiful locations during my holidays. The Sensitive Plant - Mimosa pudica ============================= The species is known by numerous common names including sensitive plant, humble plant, shameful plant, sleeping grass, touch-me-not. Small pink flowers (looking like natural pom poms) are seen currently blooming on bushes. Mimosa pudica is a creeping annual or perennial herb often grown for its curiosity value: the compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken, re-opening within minutes. The species is native to South America and Central America, but is now a pantropical weed. Leaves of the sensitive plant protect themselves from predators and environmental conditions by folding in response to touch Mimosa is a genus of about 400 species of herbs and shrubs. The seeds and other plant parts of sensitive plant contain mimonsine, an amino acid that is known to cause hair loss and depressed growth in mammals. Extracts of the plant have been shown in scientific trials to be a moderate diuretic, depress duodenal contractions similar to atropine sulphone, promote regeneration of nerves, and reduce menorrhagia (Modern-natural 2001). Anitdepressant activity has been demonstrated in humans. Chemical Constituents: Amino acid (mimosine), norepinephrine, gentisic acid, jasmonic acid and D-panitol. Propagation: By seeds and vegetative method. Part Used: Whole plant. Properties of Minosa - Antibiotic , Antimicrobial, Anti-neurasthenic, Antispasmodic

This is a presentation given at the 57th Annual Meeting of the Society for Economic Botany, hosted at Pine Mountain Settlement School in Kentucky, USA from June 5th-9th, 2016. TITLE Ethnobotanical discovery of plants and fungi with antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes AUTHORS Quave, Cassandra , Nelson, Kate , Lyles, James , Li, Tracy , Addie-Noye, Eugenia , Tyler, Paula , Saitta, Alessandro . 1 - Emory University School of Medicine, Dermatology, 615 Michael St., Whitehead 105L, Atlanta, GA, 30322, USA 2 - Emory University School of Medicine, Dermatology, 615 Michael St., Whitehead 115, Atlanta, GA, 30322, USA 3 - Emory University, Human Health, 1557 Dickey Drive, Anthropology 306, Atlanta, GA, 30322, USA 4 - Emory University, Atlanta, GA, 30322, USA 5 - Università degli Studi di Palermo, Palermo, Italy ABSTRACT Acne vulgaris is a common skin disorder that affects more than 85% of teenagers. Propionibacterium acnes is implicated in its pathogenesis, and like many other bacteria, is subject to emerging trends in antibiotic resistance. Novel therapies are in high demand. The aim of this study was to identify new leads for future pre-clinical development from herbal skin remedies used in Italy. We screened a unique natural product library composed of extracts from medicinal and randomly collected plants and fungi from the Mediterranean for growth-inhibitory and anti-biofilm activity in P. acnes. Evaluation of 157 extracts from 10 fungi and 58 plants led to the identification of crude extracts from seven species exhibiting growth inhibitory activity (MICs from 64-256 μg mL-1) and one with biofilm eradication activity (MBEC of 256 μg mL-1). None of these species, with the exception of Sweet Chestnut, have ever been reported for activity against P. acnes. All active extracts were examined for cytotoxicity against an immortalized line of human keratinocytes (HaCaT), and while most were non-toxic, one fungal species was toxic at the same concentration required for its anti-acne activity (IC50=256 μg mL-1). Comparison of these extracts to natural product standards by HPLC revealed the presence of chlorogenic acid, p-coumaric acid, ellagic acid, gallic acid and tannic acid. The compound responsible for toxicity in the bioactive fungal sample was determined by LC-FTMS to be polyporic acid. Species used in the traditional medicine for skin infections and inflammations exhibited significantly greater growth inhibitory activity than those with no reported topical application, suggesting that herbal remedies remain an untapped source for discovery efforts aimed at development of new therapeutics and cosmeceuticals for acne.

Our (future) medicines are everywhere. In a series of three video's, Waag Society explores new resources surrounding antimicrobial resistance. Biohacker Pieter van Boheemen invites you to Waag Society’s Open Wetlab to learn how to hunt, grow, and test new medicines. Why? Antimicrobial resistance is much more a social than a technical challenge. It is a direct result of our increasingly urbanized society, fed by large scale animal farming, equiped with centralized waste water treatment, and abuse of prescription drugs

These yellow Mimosa are rarely seen in Singapore. Is this also known as The Plants of Saint Lucia: Fabaceae-Mimosoideae or Neptunia plena ? The rooted land form Neptunia plena has smaller leaves and flowers, and has no spongy floating tissue. There is another yellow mimosa known as 假含羞草學名 Chamaecrista mimosoides (L.) Green. The shape of its flower is different. The leaves do not fold when touched. Its leaves are large. Another famous yellow mimosa is Water mimosa (Neptunia spp.). Neptunia oleracea and N. plena. The flowers and charactheristic very much resemble this yellow mimosa, except tthat the plant is bigger and the filaments and pollen grains are noticeably at the top of the flower instead of below the flower! The Water mimosa (Neptunia spp.). is classified as a serious pest in Queensland . (See Fact sheet at: http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/documents/Biosecurity_EnvironmentalPests/IPA-Water-Mimosa-Factsheet.pdf. The most common type is the pink mimosa (Touch Me Not or Rumput Malu). The "touch me not" flowers or Rumput Malu ( Minosa Pudica). When touched, leaves fold immediately. It will take a few minutes to recover. This weed is used for treating asthma in the Philippines. The root is rich in tannins and is used for diarrhoea and as diuretic. The pink mimosa is easily available as a herb (powder) in China. Discription: Makahiya(Mimosa Pudica) is a diffusely spreading, half-woody herb, with branched stems up to 1 meter long, sparingly prickly with numerous deflexed, bristly hairs. The leaves are very sensitive, both pinnae and leaflets, folding when touched. Pinnae are usually 4, digitately arranged at the end of each petiole, and 4 to 9 centimeters long. The leaflets are narrowly oblong, inequilateral, 1 to 1.5 centimeters long, sessile, sparingly bristly, with pointed tips. Heads are long-peduncled, solitary or 2 to 3 in each axil, about 1 centimeter in diameter. Pods are flat, slightly recurved, 1 to 2 centimeters long, with 3 to 5 one-sided joints that fall away on maturity. Florets are red in the upper part with pink to lavender filaments. Pink Mimosa is used as: : 1) Antimicrobial: Study showed antimicrobial activity against Aspergillus fumigatus, Citrobacter divergens and Klebsiella pneumonia. 2) Anticonvulsant: Study showed intraperitoneal use of Mimosa pudica decoction protected mice against pentylentetrazol and strychnine-induced seizures. 3) Plant extracts showed the plant to be a moderate diuretic, depresses duodenal contractions (similar to atrophine), promotes nerve regeneration and reduce menorrhagia. 4) Also shown to have antidepressant activity. 5) Wound Healing: Study of the methanolic extract exhibited good wound healing activity, an effect attributable to phenol constituents. 6) Strong emetic effect of extracts attributed to mimosine. 7) Antifertility Studies: Studies on the root extract of M. pudica showed antifertility effect with prolongation of the estrous cycle and disturbance of the secretion of gonadotropin hormones in albino mice. 8) Chromoblastomycosis: Study isolated Fonsecaea from the thorns of M pudica and suggests it could be a natural source of infection for the fungus Fonsecaea pedrosoi. 9) Anti-Depressant: Study suggests that M pudica produces antidepressant effect in rats with a profile similar to two tricyclic antidepressants. 10) Anti-Malarial: Mimosine found to be an iron chelator acting on malarial bugs by preventing the replication of cells. 11) Apoptotic: Mimosine also causes apoptosis and studied for treating ovarian cancer and other highly vascularized tumors. 12) Anthelmintic: The Anthelmintic effect of Makahiya (Mimosa pudica) leaves Extract in Native Chicken (Gallus domesticus) naturally infected with Gastro-intestinal Parasites (Thesis) 13) Anti-Hepatotoxic / Antioxidant: Study showed the co-administration of Mimosa pudica aqueous extract significantly lowered the level of lipid peroxidation in alcohol-fed mice. 14) Anti-Hyperglycemic: Mimosa pudica is one of eight medicinal plants in an Ayuvedic herbal formulation, Ilogen-Excel, showing antihyperglycemic effect in STZ-induced diabetic rats. Main applications (1). As pharmaceutical raw materials for clearing heat, anti-inflammation, detumescence and so on, it is mainly used in pharmaceutical field; (2). What are the benefits that you can get from this plant? From what I know, this is good for diabetic in regulating or lowering blood sugar. Furthermore it is also known for its antibiotic property makign good for infections. This is the reason why we took this herbal plant when we are having cough and colds. But in my search about the said plant, there are lot more benefits that we can get from this bitter plant like: Analagesic – pain killer Anti-inflammatory – reduces swelling Antibacterial – has a remarkable effect in reducing diarrhea and other bacterial infections Antimalarial – helps prevent parasite infection and multiplication in the blood stream Antihepatotoxic and Hepatoprotective – eliminates liver toxins and protects liver and gall bladder Antipyretic – reduces fever Antithrombotic – blood clot prevention. Helps prevent heart attack. Antiviral – inhibits viral activity including HIV (further studies are being made) Antioxidant – fights free radicals Canceolytic – cancer fighter or better to say cancer killer Cardiopotective – protects heart muscles Choleretic – increases the flow of bile Depurative – cleans the system especially the blood stream Expectorant – releases mucus in the respiratory system Hypoglycemic – lowers blood sugar and protect against diabetes Immune enhancer – increases immune system Vermicidal – kills intestinal worms It can be used againts coughs, headaches, edema, earache, pain conditions, inflammation and muscular pain, arthritis, rheumatism, fibro myalgia, multiple sclerosis, depression, diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, candida, lupus, diabetes, piles, fevers, fatigue, hepatitis, herpes, leprosy, loss of appetite, swollen lymph nodes and other lymphatic conditions, jaundice, dyspepsia, dermatitis, eczema, burns, pneumonia, bronchitis, tuberculosis, chicken pox, mumps; sluggish liver, spleen, kidneys and adrenal glands; sleeplessness, vaginitis, breast lumps and constipation. Furthermore, it is not recommended for breastfeeding and pregnant women due to its abortive effect. Serpentina has many uses that could benefit our health. The said plant has very low toxicity and no overdosage cases have been reported. Perhaps it is because unlike any other herbs, you won’t wish to have more than the recommended dosage due to its extreme bitterness.

Propagation by seeds. - - Numerous tiny seeds drop off when mature and grow easily in clumps and groups in damp areas. Pantropic species of American origin. Pansit-pansitan is an erect, branched, annual herb, shallow rooted, reaching up to 40 centimeters high, with very succulent stems. Stems are round, often about 5 millimeters thick. Leaves are alternate, heart-shaped and turgid, as transparent and smooth as candle wax. Spikes are green, erect, very slender, 1 to 6 centimeters long. Tiny dot-like flowers scattered along solitary and leaf-opposed stalk (spike); naked; maturing gradually from the base to the tip; turning brown when ripe. Considered anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, refrigerant, analgesic, antifungal, anticancer. Abscess, collection of pus, a thick, yellowish fluid caused by bacterial, protozoan, or fungal invasion of body tissues. Abscesses can occur in the skin, in the gums, in bone, and in body organs, such as the liver, the lungs, and even the brain. The area surrounding the abscess becomes red and swollen; sensations of pain and localized heat are common. If the inflamed tissue encompassing the infected cavity thins out sufficiently, the abscess may rupture.

In this video, watch Mimosa pudica (aka Humble Plant, Sleeping Plant, Shy Plant, Action Plant, Sleepy Plant, Dormilone, Shameplant, Touch-Me-Not Plant, or Sensitive Plant) closing its leaves after they're touched by me. It's filmed in Panchkula, India. FYI: It is a creeping annual or perennial flowering plant of the pea/legume family Fabaceae. Their compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken, defending themselves from harm, and re-open a few minutes later. Perhaps, it's a defense mechanism to scare predators away, or maybe it is an adaption to retain more water by shading itself to decrease water loss by heat of evaporation. It's a pantropical (which covers tropical regions of both hemispheres) weed. It grows mostly in undisturbed shady areas, under trees or shrubs. Their roots create carbon disulfide, which prevents certain pathogenic & mycorrhizal fungi from growing within the plant’s rhizosphere. This allows the formation of nodules on the roots of the plant, which fix atmospheric nitrogen and convert it into a form that is usable by the plant. It appears to inhibit the myotoxicity and enzyme activity of cobra venom. Also, it demonstrates both antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Please Like, Comment & Share the video so that more & more people can view it. And As Always, THANKS FOR VISITING..:-) Share, Support, Subscribe!!! Phyllanthus niruri is a weed found in coastal areas. It’s also known as gale of the wind or stonebreaker. Its leaves and fruit are used as herbal medicine. Phyllanthus niruri is known for protecting the liver. It may also combat kidney stones, hence the “stonebreaker” moniker. Keep reading to learn more about how this plant may improve your health. 1. It has antioxidant properties According to a 2014 in vitro study, an extract made from phyllanthus niruri leaves showed strong antioxidant activity. Antioxidants fight free radicals in the body that may cause cell damage and disease. 2. It has antimicrobial properties According to a 2012 study, phyllanthus niruri extract has antimicrobial abilities against H. pylori bacteria. H. pylori bacteria are common in the digestive tract and are usually harmless. But in some cases, they can lead to peptic ulcers, abdominal pain, and nausea. Researchers also found that the extract didn’t harm any beneficial strains of lactic acid bacteria. 3. It has anti-inflammatory properties Inflammation can cause many problems throughout the body, including skin conditions like psoriasis and chronic pain. According to a 2017 animal study, phyllanthus niruri may help reduce inflammation. For the study, researchers injected carrageenan into the left hind paws of rats to cause inflammation. The rats were then treated with phyllanthus niruri extract, which was found to significantly reduce the inflammation. 4. It may help protect against ulcers Findings from the same 2017 animal study also suggest that phyllanthus niruri extract can help prevent ulcers. It’s thought to reduce gastric acid secretion and protect the stomach. It also showed potent anti-inflammatory effects against gastric ulcers. 5. It may help lower blood sugar Phyllanthus niruri may also have antidiabetic properties. According to a 2011 study, the plant’s aerial parts may help prevent glucose absorption and improve glucose storage. This may help maintain blood sugar levels. 6. It may help prevent kidney stones Phyllanthus niruri may be best known as a kidney stone remedy. According to 2010 research, many studies have shown that it’s a powerful kidney stone deterrent. Phyllanthus niruri can help relax the ureter after lithotripsy to help stones pass. Lithotripsy is a procedure used to break up stones in the urinary tract. It may also prevent stones from forming in the first place by stopping the crystals that form them from clumping together. 7. It may improve liver health According to a 2017 study on rats, phyllanthus niruri may help treat nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and atherosclerosis. Both conditions may cause insulin resistance. The study found phyllanthus niruri decreased insulin resistance and reduced the amount of fatty acids in the liver. A 2006 study on mice also found that the antioxidants in phyllanthus niruri may help protect the liver from acetaminophen toxicity. 8. It may help treat acute hepatitis B Phyllanthus niruri may help treat acute hepatitis B infections due to its anti-viral and liver-protecting abilities. In a 2010 study, 60 people with the condition received either a placebo or a product made of seven herbal medicines including 100 milligrams of phyllanthus niruri. The herbal medicine group experienced faster recovery than the placebo group. However, they reported side effects like upper abdominal pain and diarrhea. Phyllanthus niruri may not help chronic hepatitis B, though. A 2011 review of 16 randomized trials on people with chronic hepatitis B didn’t find any significant evidence in support of the treatment. 9. It may be anti-cancerous Phyllanthus niruri and other phyllanthus species may help prevent the metastasis of some lung and breast cancers. A 2011 study showed the polyphenols in the herb help prevent the invasion, migration, and adhesion of cancer cells. A 2012 study on human colorectal and liver cancer cell lines also found that phyllanthus niruri helped slow cancer cell growth and encouraged cancer cell death.

Title: Synergism of antibiotics and plant extracts in antibacterial activity against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus 5th World Congress on Bioavailability and Bioequivalance Pharmaceutical R&D Summit September 29-October 01, 2014 Baltimore , USA OMICS International: http://conferenceseries.com/ Pharmaceutical Conferences: http://pharmaceuticalconferences.com Global OMICS open access Journals: http://omicsonline.org Global MedicaOl Conferences: http://conferenceseries.com Global Cancer Conferences: http://cancersummit.org Global Diabetes Conferences: http://diabetesexpo.com Global Dental Conferences: http://dentalcongress.com Global Nursing Conferences: http://nursingconference.com Abstract Antibiotics are one of the most important weapons in fighting bacterial infections and have greatly benefited the health related quality of human life. However, over the past few decades, these health benefits are under threat as many commonly used antibiotics have become less effective against certain illnesses not only because many of them produce toxic reactions but also due to emergence of drug resistant bacteria. Resistance development is an even bigger problem since the bacterial resistance is often not restricted to the specific antibiotic prescribed, but generally extends to other compounds of the same class. Bacterial resistance and its rapid increase is a major concern of global public health and are emerging as one of the most significant challenges to human health. Treating bacterial infections by antibiotics is beneficial but their indiscriminate use has led to an alarming resistance among microorganisms as well as led to re-emergence of old infectious diseases. One approach to treat infectious diseases is the use of plant extracts individually and /or as an alternative approach is the use of combination of antibiotics with plant extracts. Combination therapy is helpful and useful for patients with serious infections caused by drug resistant pathogens. In this work Mimosa pudica, Ixora coccinea, Colocasia esculenta, Boerhaavia diffusa, extract was prepared and commonly preferred antibiotics to treat MRSA, were collected. The antibacterial activity of plant extract and antibiotics was evaluated. The plant extract and antibiotics individually didn’t show good antibacterial activity against MRSA. The combination therapy/synergism was performed. The combine antibacterial activity of plant extract and antibiotic was evaluated. The combine mixture of Colocasia esculenta and Gentamicin antibiotic shown high antibacterial activity against MRSA, the activity of gentamicin was increased up to 10-fold. Herb-drug interactions tested by checkerboard method and expressed as fractional inhibitory concentration (FIC) index showed indifferent and synergistic effects. The minimal inhibitory concentration to treat MRSA was 40 mg/ml. In the time kill assay, MRSA was totally inhibited by synergistic mixture in 6 hours. The synergism is a new concept of developing drug molecule for treating drug resistant bacteria and prevent emergence of new drug resistant bacteria. Are You Buying FAKE COLOSTRUM POWDER? Colostrum is the ULTIMATE gut healing food/supplement but... colostrum is 'LEGALLY defined' as milk from the first 6 milkings. This is plain false. The TRUE definition of colostrum comes from the FIRST milking. I have seen first hand (while working on the farm) the difference between the 1st milking and the 2nd milking: the 1st is very thick and the 2nd has the consistency of milk. Colostrum is 25% solids 6 hours after birth and 10% solids 48 hours after birth. This means you are getting double, triple, if not quadruple the nutrients and health/healing benefits with real colostrum. To your gut health!
