The Dangers of Statins (Cholesterol lowering statin drugs Side Effects LDL cholesterol Myth CoQ10)

18:07
Statins (cholesterol-lowering medication) are heavily promoted, used by millions of people and one of the most widely prescribed drugs in the world. Health authorities claim statins reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes because they lower 'bad' LDL cholesterol. Yet these claims are contradicted by statistics and medical studies. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/07/20/the-truth-about-statin-drugs-revealed.aspx http://next-level-nutrition.com/?p=6075 http://naturalnews.com/032448_statin_drugs_scam.html http://www.ravnskov.nu/cholesterol.htm#a The hypothesis is that 'bad' LDL cholesterol clogs up arteries leading to heart attacks and strokes. However, medical research has shown that: 1. People with high cholesterol tend to live longer. 2. People with heart disease tend to have low levels of cholesterol. 3. Lowering cholesterol in a population does not reduce the rate of heart disease. 4. Statins increase(!) the risk of heart disease and strokes. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2005/05/28/cholesterol-heart.aspx http://drbenkim.com/articles-cholesterol.html http://drmalcolmkendrick.org/the-great-cholesterol-con http://cholesterolconspiracy.blogspot.com http://amazon.com/The-Great-Cholesterol-Myth-Disease/dp/1592335217 Statin drugs have become a huge global industry, generating more than $29 billion each year. However, cholesterol and CoQ10 are essential for optimal body and brain function! http://naturalnews.com/CoQ10.html http://products.mercola.com/coq10-ubiquinol Statins can cause serious side effects, including chronic fatigue, muscle pain, muscle weakness, memory loss, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, diabetes, kidney and liver damage, birth defects, heart failure and cancer. Statin drugs cause cancer because they acidify the body, and tumors can only grow in an acidic body. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/04/17/statin-side-effects.aspx http://naturalnews.com/040916_cholesterol_statin_drugs_heart_disease.html http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/10/01/can-statin-drug-cause-liver-and-heart-to-fail.aspx http://telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/7250115/Cholesterol-busting-wonder-drugs-taken-by-millions-increases-diabetes-risk.html http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/03/28/the-stealth-drug-cause-of-diabetes.aspx https://statineffects.com/info/adverse_effects.htm http://thecholesteroltruth.com "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." ↓ 5 Important & Clinically Proven Reasons You Should NOT Take Statin Drugs

06:33
How my parents lowered their cholesterol by 30 pts in 30 days - no diets or drugs. An all natural alternative to statin drugs. ►►►http://drsam.co/yt/NoMoreStatin =============================== 5 Important & Clinically Proven Reasons You Should NOT Take Statin Drugs =============================== Statins are HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. They work by blocking the enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) in your liver, that is responsible for making cholesterol. Now, this is very important topic to me personally, because over 15+ years ago my parent’s were prescribed these toxic drugs and they had a ton of negative side-effects. Unfortunately back then, we didn’t have all the data we have now. The pharmaceutical companies did a great job of hiding them. Today I’m going to reveal the top 5, clinically proven reasons, why you should NOT take statin drugs and one of my favorite, natural alternatives that my own parents use. Reason #1 - They DON’T Work! Statin drugs DO lower your cholesterol levels, but don’t think they lower your risk of heart disease, heart attacks or strokes. Based on the statistics of “Relative Risk Reduction (RRR)”, statins reduce the risk for only 1% of the population - that’s it!8 Reason #2 - Increase Your Risk Major Disease, Including Cancer! Statins increase your risk for diabetes. And what’s interesting is that over 50% of people who have heart disease, have elevated glucose and blood sugar levels. So the irony is that the statin drugs will indirectly INCREASE your risk of heart disease by increasing your blood sugar levels. Statins also cause neurodegenerative diseases, such as memory loss, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s and Parkinson’s. Statins also cause musculoskeletal disorders, leading to muscle pain and weakness (myalgia), muscle cramps and other muscular problems. Statins also cause cataracts, which is a clouding of your eye lens and is a main cause of low vision among the elderly. Finally, statin drugs are known to cause cancer. Reason #3 - Deplete Important Nutrients Statin drugs deplete two very important nutrients in your body. The first is Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). CoQ10 is used for energy production by every cell in your body, and is therefore vital for good health, high energy levels, longevity, and general quality of life. What’s important to know is that your heart is the most energy-demanding organ in your body. By depleting CoQ10, your heart slowly becomes weaker and ages faster. In addition to CoQ10, statin drug also reduce Vitamin K2. This is important for you to know because Vitamin K2 protects your arteries from calcification. Without it, plaque levels worsen. Reason #4 - Liver Problems & Toxicity Of all the negative side-effects associated with statin drugs, the most common was “drug induced liver injury”… This accounts for a whopping 57% of all statin related “adverse drug reactions”, which included potentially severe and some cases, deadly consequences such as: Death from acute liver failure Liver transplantation Jaundice Liver problems are so bad with statin drugs that each year there are millions of people diagnosed “moderate to serious liver dysfunction”! Remember, your liver detoxifies and cleanses your entire body. Poor liver function greatly accelerates aging! Reason #5 - Natural Alternatives Exist You don’t need to take statin drugs because natural alternatives already exist. Nature already has the answers, NOT the pharmaceutical companies. I’m sure you already know this…. Drugs can be used SHORT-TERM, to quickly improve a health problem … TEMPORARILY. But positive, long-term benefits can only be seen and felt using natural means. This way, you have a proven, simple and convenient solution for your high cholesterol, while being so much safer than statin drugs. Adverse Effects of Statins are Far Worse Than You Think

07:18
Whenever drug is criticised, big pharma comes to the rescue to salvage profits. What else would you expect when the reason big pharma exists is to make profits for their shareholders. Last year (2013) the British Medical Journal printed an article that criticized a previous article published in the same journal that suggested extending treatment with statins for people with a low risk for cardiovasculars disease. Needless to say, this caused a hullabaloo for those people who published the previous study, the Cholesterol Treatment Trialists' Collaboration, with the contention that their data that showed an 18-20% incidence of adverse drug reactions was incorrect. Of course, it depends on what you consider an ADE! Most of the data identifying the side effects comes from the website of the manufacturer of the drug in question. Do you think this information is likely to include the full extent of side effects when the goal is to sell drug to make profit? For example, we reported a study showing that 40% of people on statins had muscle fatigue, and in 10% it was severe. It is necessary to add up the percentages from each side effect to see the incidence of side effects. Have a look at this URL: http://www.doctorsaputo.com/a/statins-cause-fatigue

Statins and Cholesterol

Statins are one of the most highly prescribed and commercially successful drugs in modern society, due to their ability to decrease LDL-cholesterol and lower the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Learn more about the history, mechanism, and side effects of statins in this episode of Medicurio. Other lipoprotein particles: You may have heard of LDL cholesterol as "bad" cholesterol because it clogs up the blood vessels with plaque. Its counterpart, HDL or "good" cholesterol does the opposite - HDL particles move throughout the bloodstream and pick up any cholesterol it finds and brings it back to the liver. Often times, plaque formation is dependent on both how much LDL and how little HDL there is in the blood. Take the Quiz: https://www.drberg.com/evaluation2 Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY Dr. Berg talks about the 13 serious side effects of low cholesterol. 1. Increase risk of getting cancer 2. Anemia 3. Increase risk of a stroke 4. Adrenal failure 5. Increase risk of infection 6. Increase risk of viruses 7. Increased risk of dying from all causes 8. Chronic inflammatory condition 9. Chronic liver disease 10. Depression 11. Increases the risk of respiratory diseases 12. Aortic dissection 13. Predisposes the critically ill to sepsis (blood poisoning) and adrenal failure. What is considered low cholesterol? Less than 160! The truth is that high cholesterol is not nearly as dangerous compared to low cholesterol. Your body makes cholesterol (3000 mg a day) and when you consume less, your body makes more, and when you consume more, your body makes less. Cholesterol is made to build hormones, build cellular membranes, builds brain and nerves, the immune system and even to make bile. What are the side effects of Cholesterol lowering medication? - Dr. Sreekanth Shetty

02:22
Cholesterol causes blockages in the heart arteries and brain arteries leading to stroke and heart attacks.Since Statins introduced as cholesterol lowering drugs ,they played major role in not only reducing cholesterol levels but also in reducing heart attacks and strokes. Some individuals may develop side effects with this drugs. If they are under weight and or they have chronic kidney disease and elderly people. Fortunately these side effects are very mild and reversible like fatigue and muscle aches.Slightly uncommon side effects are elevation of liver and muscle enzymes. And very rarely these can cause muscle break downs. These have tendency to induce diabetes. This would happen in people who already have tendency to get diabetes.
Statin Side Effects: What Cholesterol Meds Are Doing to Your Brain - Audio Article

04:34
Article At A Glance: Statins are drugs that lower your cholesterol. They work by blocking an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, which makes your body much slower at synthesizing cholesterol. When statins lower HMG-CoA reductase, they disrupt a lot more than cholesterol synthesis, causing less than desirable side effects. Blocking HMG-CoA reductase messes with energy production, brain function, metabolism, and hormone balance. Statin side effects aren’t worth the risk, especially because lowering your cholesterol doesn’t actually make much of a difference when it comes to heart disease. You’re better off focusing on lowering inflammation. Side Effects Of Cholesterol Medicine

03:10
Hi! I'm robo-Suzie and today I'll talk to you about Side Effects Of Cholesterol Medicine. Also don't forget to subscribe for more tips in the future! But back to our topic. Any prescription medication can have side effects. Most of these are not pleasant. The reasoning of why we put up with these side effects is that it is better to deal with them than the condition which the medication treats - in this case, elevated cholesterol levels. Such drugs work to lower cholesterol which, in turn, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. There are two popular classes of drugs used to treat high cholesterol. They are specifically aimed at lowering LDL cholesterol. One is the group known as statins and the others are bile acid sequestrants. The most well known of the latter group is Niacin (nicotinic acid) which comes in both prescription form and as a dietary supplement. Popular statin brands are Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor, and Pravachol. Both classes of cholesterol medicine can have troublesome side effects. Higher doses of statins may be associated with a greater risk of side effects such that side effects tend to be dose-related and may disappear after reducing the dosage or, if necessary, withdrawing the medication. However, even if side effects are experienced, cholesterol medication should not normally be discontinued without consulting a physician. But speak to your doctor immediately. Do not wait for your next visit. Side Effects Of Cholesetrol Lowering Drugs include: Constipation. Nausea. Loss of appetite. Pain in the upper right part of the stomach. Fever. Flu-like symptoms. Hoarseness. Extreme tiredness. Lack of energy. Rash, hives or itching. Muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness. Yellowing of the skin or eyes. Unusual bleeding or bruising. Difficulty breathing or swallowing. Swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles or lower legs. Lowering Cholesterol Medication Should Not Be Taken In Isolation. In addition to taking a cholesterol-lowering medication, making certain changes in your daily lifestyle can also lower your cholesterol blood levels. Eating a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol with little to no grains and sugars and exercising for 30 minutes on most, if not all days, will make a big difference. As will losing weight if you are overweight. Eliminating sugar and grains will inevitably cause beneficial side effects, such as normalizing your weight, increasing your energy and lowering your blood pressure and triglycerides. Lifestyle changes will work in the majority of cases of high cholesterol so why not try those first and give yourself the chance to avoid the cholesterol medicine side effects. Your physician will be able to advise you on this. That's it! Thank you. Please subscribe, comment and like this video if it was helpful! See you soon!

Statin Drugs Side Effects

https://www.nutrusta.com/products/ubiquinol-coq10, widely prescribed for lowering cholesterol triggers sinister side effects - diabetes, liver, kidney damage, memory loss. The solution: take a high absorption CoQ10 supplement to alleviate statin health risks. Buy online👇👇👇 Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquinol-CoQ10-VESIsorb-Kaneka-100mg/dp/B00KB2XSG0/ Are you taking statins? Statin medications are one of the most commonly prescribed drugs. Used to lower high cholesterol levels, they can literally save your life. You may know statins by these names: Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor Statins work by inhibiting LDL production in the liver and promoting the removal of LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream. This prevents and helps reduce plaque buildup in your blood vessels. If you or someone you know takes a statin, then you’re probably well aware of the side effects associated with this medication. Nausea, diarrhea, joint and muscle pains are some of the more common complaints. Statin medications also increase the risk of hyperglycemia and type 2 diabetes across the board. In more severe cases, the medication can cause liver or kidney damage. In rare instances, statins can cause a life threatening condition called rhabdomyolysis. This is where your muscle cells collapse and release poison into the bloodstream. So, is there anything you can do to alleviate these side effects? Turns out, you can, and the solution is fairly simple: Coenzyme Q10 supplementation. Coenzyme Q10, or CoQ10 for short, is a naturally occurring enzyme found in every cell of your body. It helps keep your heart healthy, boosts mental clarity, and provides protection against free radicals, among other things. Low CoQ10 levels are also associated with memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease. CoQ10 levels naturally decrease as we age, contributing to the aches and pains we associate with growing older. However, Coq10 is insoluble in water, has limited solubility in lipids, and is a pretty large molecule. Because of its molecular structure, CoQ10 has notoriously poor absorption. When ingested as a supplement, as much as 60% of the dose will just bounce off the intestinal walls and end up in the toilet. THE NUTRUSTA SOLUTION Nutrusta Ubiquinol Ultra is a water-soluble formulation that combines the active, "body-ready" form of CoQ10 and the novel VESIsorb® micelle-based delivery system. VESIsorb® is proven to ensure 6 times better absorption and 3-fold increase in bioavailability for maximum and sustained therapeutic levels of CoQ10 that help reduce the side effects of statins. 🌾 WARNING: The Real TRUTH About Red Yeast Rice, Statin Drugs and Lowering Your Cholesterol

Discover the REAL cause of high cholesterol and a simple formula my parent’s have used since 1999 to lower their cholesterol naturally: 💗 http://drsam.co/yt/StopStatins You can also watch this video on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYFY4Vl19Fo Refferences: 1. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23866314 2. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9989685 3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_yeast_rice 4. https://nccih.nih.gov/health/redyeastrice 5. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2651913/ 6. http://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-management/side-effects-of-statin-drugs ======================================= 🌾 CONSUMER WARNING: The Real TRUTH About Red Yeast Rice, Statin Drugs and Lowering Your Cholesterol ======================================= Recently I’ve been getting a lot of emails about the safety of using Red Yeast Rice to naturally lower cholesterol levels. Does it work, is it safe, and does it have the same side-effects of statin “cholesterol lowering” drugs?... One reason for all the questions and concerns is because Consumer Reports came out with a list of the 15 Supplement Ingredients to Always Avoid and Red Yeast Rice was one of the 15 ingredients on the list. And this is a very important topic because if the right form and amount of Red Yeast Rice is used, it’s an amazingly effective and safe ingredient. The Consumer Reports feedback about Red Yeast Rice… Unfortunately, the information is vague, wrong and inaccurate. They stated risks as: “Kidney and muscle problems, liver problems, hair loss; can magnify effect of cholesterol-lowering statin drugs, increasing the risk of side effects” However, what they HAVE done is inaccurately listed “statin” drug side-effects!… Statin Drugs Are The REAL Problem One of the most prescribed drugs in the world for almost 2 decades, are cholesterol lowering statin drugs. Doctors used to (and still do) say how these drugs are “so amazing and healthy” for you. And the minute anyone had even slightly elevated cholesterol levels, doctors were quick to prescribe these powerful (and harmful) drugs. However, in the past few years the truth has come out… The fact that statin drugs are very toxic and have numerous side-effects — such as memory loss, muscle pain, liver damage, diabetes, high blood pressure, impotence and more. Red Yeast Rice & Statins Red Yeast Rice (a regular diet staple in Asia) naturally contains low levels of monacolin K, which is chemically similar to the active ingredient in the cholesterol-lowering statin drug Lovastatin. And because of this, Consumer Reports automatically and incorrectly ASSUMES that Red Yeast Rice is the “same” as statin drugs and thus, will have the same negative side-effects of statin drugs. Not only is this wrong, but it’s illegal in the US because… FDA Won’t Allow This In 2008, the FDA determined that red yeast rice products that contain more than trace amounts of monacolin K are considered as an “unapproved new drug” and cannot be sold legally as dietary supplements. And this was done primarily because the pharmaceutical companies didn’t want a natural ingredient to compete with their harmful drugs. Red yeast rice can’t cause any statin side-effects, if it doesn’t contain any “statin” in it. However, Red yeast rice still has numerous health and cholesterol-lowering benefits that is NOT related to monacolin K or lovastatin, and without any negative side-effects.2,5 So Consumer Reports was all wrong about Red Yeast Rice’s negative side-effects. Problem 1: Citrinin Some red yeast rice products contain a contaminant called citrinin, which can cause kidney failure in high dosages.4 So when purchasing any product containing Red Yeast Rice, make sure the citrinin is removed. Problem 2: Don’t Use It By Itself You never want to use Red Yeast Rice by itself because you’d have to use a very high dosage of it for it to work and be effective. The best products use red yeast rice, in conjunction with other key ingredients, at specific dosages to help create healthy cholesterol levels, HDL/LDL ratios and triglycerides. Other key ingredients you should look for when purchasing a cholesterol-lowering product, which also work in synergy with red yeast rice are: Policosanol Co-Q10 Pantesin® d-Pantethine Garlic Extract Artichoke Leaf Extract Guggulsterones Phytosterols Complex Cleanse & Strengthen Your Liver This is exactly the problem my parents had in 1998 and that’s why they now use an “all-in-one” remedy called CholesLo™. ======================================== Thank you for watching. » The Scary Truth About Statin Cholesterol Lowering Drugs & Erectile Dysfunction

03:14
How my parents lowered their cholesterol by 30 pts in 30 days - no diets or drugs. An all natural alternative to statin drugs. ►►http://drsam.co/yt/NaturalAlternative My favorite, scientifically proven solution for quickly boosting your testosterone levels, increasing your sex drive and reversing erectile dysfunction, naturally. ►►http://drsam.co/yt/EDRemedy =============================== A few months ago I started taking a statin drug to lower my cholesterol. However, I’ve noticed I started having erectile problems. Things don’t seem to work as well. In fact, I’m just not in the “mood” or have the drive for sex like I used to. Do you think the statin drug is the cause? =============================== Links for the refferences: 1. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4023379/ 2. http://www.webmd.com/erectile-dysfunction/news/20100416/statins_may_lower_testosterone_libido Hi Daniel. To answer your question - YES! In fact, it’s been clinically shown that statin cholesterol lowering drugs do in fact, cause erection problems and impotence.1 And this is because statin drugs lower cholesterol by blocking the enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) in your liver, that is responsible for making cholesterol. Unfortunately, cholesterol is required to make your “sex hormones” in both men and women, such as testosterone, estrogens, etc. And these hormones, especially testosterone, is required for your sex drive, libido, erections and an orgasm. In fact, in addition to erectile problems, both men and women taking statin drugs, report having difficulty reaching an orgasm.2 Another common side-effect with statin drugs is depression. And let’s be honest, when you’re not feeling happy or excited, then you’re not feeling “sexual” and you just don’t care or have the DESIRE to have sex, right?... One thing I’d like to point out on the OPPOSITE side of this story and that’s having very high cholesterol can ALSO cause erectile dysfunction. This is because of plaque build-up in your arteries, leading to poor blood flow and circulation. So your goal is to have healthy cholesterol levels - not too high or low. You want to do it naturally, without the use of drugs such as statins. The truth is, 98% of people do NOT need statin drugs to lower cholesterol. I know this because I dealt with this problem back in 1998 with both my parents. You can easily do it naturally. A healthy diet, regular exercise program and more importantly, the specific use of clinically proven herbs can dramatically lower your cholesterol naturally, while ALSO improving your sex drive and libido. 💊 Natural & Clinically Proven Alternatives To Lipitor

Watch the natural alternative to lower your cholesterol by 30 pts in 30 days - no diets or drugs. 👉http://drsam.co/yt/Natural-Lipitor Or discover the most powerful fruit to lower high cholesterol: 👉https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYFY4Vl19Fo =============================================== 💊 Natural & Clinically Proven Alternatives To Lipitor =============================================== #cholesterol #statins Before I reveal clinically proven, natural alternatives to Lipitor, a cholesterol lowering drug and why you MUST get off this or any statin drug, I’d like to share a true story. Dr. Duane Graveline (M.D., M.P.H) is a physician, a flight surgeon and former astronaut. One year NASA was doing a yearly physical on him. He passed all the tests (physical, cognitive, etc.). Yet, they noticed his cholesterol was in the “high” range and told him to take Lipitor (atorvastatin) - a cholesterol lowering statin drug. Six weeks later, he had severe memory problems, so bad that he had short term, global amnesia (TGA). Additionally, when NASA retested him, his cholesterol was lower and he passed that test … yet he failed the cognitive test and he wasn’t allowed to go to space. Dr. Graveline decided to get off Lipitor, despite the fact other physicians, doctors and pharmacists said it couldn’t be Lipitor causing these problems. A year later, when it was his next annual NASA physical, they again told him to take Lipitor, but this time at half the dosage. So, Dr. Graveline reluctantly followed their recommendation. This second time, the results were even worse - amnesia PLUS “retrograde loss of memory” going back to his high school years. Yes, his memory loss was even more severe. He again stopped taking Lipitor and wrote about this situation in a book called, “Lipitor Thief of Memory” which was written in 2005. Which also includes liver damage, high blood pressure, arthritis, elevated blood sugar levels, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, muscle loss and lowered sex drive and impotence, to name a few. Add to the fact that my dad’s mom (my grandmother) had Alzheimer’s, I didn’t want to risk it and got my dad off of Lipitor … against his doctor’s orders. Instead, I decided to research, natural, safe and healthy ingredients and alternatives for having healthy cholesterol levels. And that’s what I’m going to reveal today. Natural Alternatives So let’s get right to it, I’ll make this quick. First, your goal is NOT to have “low” cholesterol, you want HEALTHY cholesterol levels. Now, one of my favorite natural ingredients to help improve cholesterol levels is called, Red Yeast Rice, which is a common food in Asia. In fact, this is a natural statin. However, the “secret” to using Red Yeast Rice is you only want to use it in small doses. Plus, you must use the “extract” form, not the “root” or “powder” form which is worthless. And finally, you want to make sure that the “toxic” by-product, Citrinin is removed. Any other form either won’t work or you’ll need such a high dose that you’ll have statin side-effects - obviously, no where near as bad as Lipitor. Again, keep in mind that if you ONLY use Red Yeast Rice to improve your cholesterol levels, you’ll need to use a high dosage, which will eventually lead to some of the same, statin side-effects. THIS is the real secret to having healthy cholesterol levels, naturally - without drugs. Other Cholesterol Optimizing Herbs Other clinically proven, natural herbal extracts that promote healthy cholesterol levels and balanced lipid levels, which are: Artichoke Leaf Extract (15% Chlorogenic Acid, 5% Cynarin) Phytosterols Complex (40% extract from non-GMO pine tree extract) Garlic (Extract 5% alliin) Policosanol (from Sugar Cane - Saccharum species) Improve Your Thyroid Cleanse Your Liver Did you know that 80% of the cholesterol in your body is made by your liver, and NOT from the foods you eat? This is why many times, the change in your diet doesn’t make dramatic improvements in cholesterol levels. The irony is that ALL drugs, especially statins, cause liver damage and thus, will eventually increase your cholesterol levels and this is why you keep having to increase the dosage of these drugs. So make sure you try to eliminate anything that stresses your liver - this includes all drugs, including alcohol and caffeine. But, since this is almost impossible for most people, I suggest you take Milk Thistle (80% Extract) NAC (N-Acetyl L-Cysteine) - which also boost your immune system. R+ Alpha Lipoic Acid (r+ ALA) - which also helps lower your blood sugar. Reduce Homocysteine Levels ======================================== Subscribe to Dr.Sam Robbins's official Youtube channel http://drsam.co/yt/subscribe Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/DrSamRobbins ========================================= Thanks DrSamRobbins

Statin Drugs Eat Your Brain

Support your local pharmacist and get yourself a supply of statin drugs. The minimum requirement for a prescription has been lowered once again, so now millions more can join in the fun and frolics of taking drugs. Those who have already had a heart attack or stroke automatically quallify for the party. Prior to recieving your new medication you where likely given a daily calcium tablet by your GP or physician, to help strengthen bones and fend of osteoporosis. However, a recent medical study reveals that those given calcium pills signifiicantly increase their risk of heart attack and stroke. Daily Science: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/05/120523200752.htm Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2012/may/24/calcium-supplements-heart-risk Not to worry, you now automatically quallify for statin therapy and you can continue supporting the pharmaceutical industry, when you develop illnesses which are a direct result of side effects from your new medication. Remember (as nearly all medical professionals will tell you)...side effects only happen to some people! Well actually on this point I would have to strongly disagree. We all know that alcohol is a drug, right? And we all know the familiar side effects associated with this drug. When a medical professional sits down at a table with me and takes ten pints of beer without showing any side effects, I might concider taking their 'opinion' on board. In the mean time I'll just rely on my own first hand experiences with my famiily members who have been on these drugs. And for good measure here are a few statin side effects related news pieces for youu to read through. Warning!!! Propaganda Allert!!! Do Statins Cause Side Effects? 4 Natural Ways to Lower Cholesterol Instead

06:18
How to lower your cholesterol so you can avoid needing statins. Many people complain of side effects from statins, despite claims they are safe. In this video I reveal the reason why statins may cause side effects and how to prevent them. Millions of people take statins daily to lower our cholesterol and to avoid the danger of a stroke or fatal heart attack. Their effectiveness at lowering cholesterol is proven. But many people believe they may cause unpleasant side effects. This includes muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, memory loss, low sex drive, depression and a higher risk of infections. However, according to a controversial study published on The Lancet website, these side effects are in people’s heads. While other research has suggested that the side effects may be an unintended consequence of how statins work. According to Dr. John Briffa, a practicing doctor, author and international speaker, “while statins may ‘save lives’ in the relative short-term by reducing the risk of, say, heart attacks, they may possibly cause some people to perish in the long term.” You should NEVER stop taking statins without consulting your doctor first. They may, in fact, be protecting you from a heart attack or stroke. But by following these steps may help to lower your cholesterol and potentially help you avoid needing statins at all: 1. Eliminate trans fats from your diet. Trans fats are found in fried foods and many everyday snacks, like cookies. They can be lethal at increasing bad LDL cholesterol and destroying good HDL cholesterol.(6) 2. Get 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily. This will help raise good HDL cholesterol and to help you get rid of dangerous belly fat. To help you stay motivated, why not join a walking or cycling group in your area to make your exercise more sociable and fun, as well as healthy. 3. Give up smoking If you can quit, within one year your risk of heart disease may be half that of a smoker. And within 15 years, your risk of heart disease may be like that of someone who never smoked. 4. Drink alcohol in moderation. We already know that regular heavy drinking can cause high blood pressure, heart failure and strokes. And recent studies suggest it may cause memory loss and dementia too.(8) Even if you don’t suffer from side effects, you need to know that statins have been found to block the production of THREE key nutrients in the gut, along with cholesterol. These are nutrients that feed our body and brain’s with energy, neutralize free radicals, improve heart health and repair cell damage. So when you deplete these nutrients in your body, it may have all sorts of unintended consequences. Thankfully, there is a way of naturally boosting the nutrients that are depleted by statins, to help avoid the risk of side effects and future health problems. On the Erudite Lifestyle website, we have an article that explains what these nutrients are, what they do in your body and a drug-free way of replenishing them safely, which can also lower your cholesterol. So if you are currently taking statins and have noticed any muscle pain, a lack of energy, poor memory, low sex drive or depression, then I recommend checking out our article to find out the possible reason why: http://eruditelifestyle.co.uk/real-reason-statins-may-cause-side-effects-help-avoid References 1. http://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-management/side-effects-of-statin-drugs 2. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/may/02/statin-side-effects-down-to-negative-expectations-not-the-drugs-nocebo 3.http://www.drbriffa.com/2013/05/30/statins-deplete-the-body-of-a-nutrient-that-is-vital-for-heart-function/ 4. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/18/south-american-tribe-found-have-healthiest-hearts-ever-studied/ 5. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/07/22/one-in-four-americans-over-45-take-this-common-drug-that-causes-diabetes.aspx 6. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-cholesterol/in-depth/trans-fat/art-20046114 7. http://www.who.int/tobacco/quitting/benefits/en/ 8. https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/info/20007/types_of_dementia/14/alcohol-related_brain_damage_including_korsakoffs_syndrome 9. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/18/south-american-tribe-found-have-healthiest-hearts-ever-studied/ 10. http://eruditelifestyle.co.uk/real-reason-statins-may-cause-side-effects-help-avoid Disclaimer - Supplements are not magic pills. Recognizing an opportunity and frustrated by the lack of an affordable solution in the marketplace, Dr. Paul decided to create one himself, and www.statinzyme.com was born. www.statinzyme.com may help prevent the harmful side effects of cholesterol-lowering medications, including these statins: • Advicor® (niacin extended-release/lovastatin) • Altoprev® (lovastatin extended-release) • Atorvastatin Calcium • Caduet® (amlodipine and atorvastatin) • Crestor® (rosuvastatin) • Lescol® (fluvastatin) • Lescol XL® (fluvastatin extended-release) • Lipitor® (atorvastatin) • Livalo® (pitavastatin) • Lovastatin • Mevacor® (lovastatin) • Pravachol® (pravastatin) • Pravastatin • Simvastatin • Simcor® (niacin extended-release/simvastatin) • Vytorin® (ezetimibe/simvastatin) • Zocor® (simvastatin) And these beta blockers: • Toprol xl • Metoprolol • Metoprolol xl • Atenolol • Coreg • Coreg cr http://www.statinzyme.com/ 1-800-56-Vitamin 1-800-568-4826
7 Best supplements that will clean your arteries naturally at home

7 Best supplements that will clean your arteries naturally at home : Heart attacks are caused by the blood supply to the heart being suddenly interrupted. Without this supply, heart muscles may be damaged and begin to die. fatty deposits called plaque buildup in your arteries, they can narrow the vessels and raise your risk of atherosclerosis and heart disease. Several supplements are available that, over time, might help dissolve plaque and improve the function of your arteries, lowering your risk of chronic circulatory problems. Here are 7supplements that can help you unclog your arteries 1. Take fish oil supplements. If you don’t like fish or don’t have access to fish, you can simply take fish oil supplements to help get omega-3 fats. Look for fish oils that contain EPA and DHA oils. Although you might expect consuming fat to increase arterial plaque, omega-3 fatty acids may help slow plaque deposition and, over time, reduce its amount, according to experts at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Consuming supplements containing these unsaturated, healthy fatty acids can lower levels of blood triglycerides while raising levels of HDL, helping to keep your blood cholesterol in a healthy range. They may also help prevent inflammation of the arterial lining and reduce the risk of blood clots, both of which promote plaque deposits. 2. Take psyllium supplements. If you have difficulty getting enough fiber from foods, you can take psyllium supplements. Psyllium is a water-soluble fiber available in pill and powder forms. 3. Increase soy protein through supplements. Soy proteins are commonly available as powders that you can mix into a variety of foods and beverages (juices, smoothies, etc.). Several studies have shown that soy protein supplementation can have a beneficial effect on your cholesterol levels. 4. Take niacin supplements. You can also take niacin (vitamin B3) to help lower cholesterol levels. However, talk to your physician and monitor niacin supplementation closely. Common side effects at high doses include: • Flushing of the skin • Stomach upset • Headaches • Dizziness • Blurred vision • Increased risk of liver damage 5. Garlic Supplement. Garlic isn't just a culinary herb but is also a useful supplement if you're concerned about arterial plaque and atherosclerosis, according to evidence summarized at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Garlic contains a compound that's converted into allicin when cloves are crushed. Allicin could help lower blood levels of cholesterol by suppressing a liver enzyme that makes cholesterol. This eventually reduces plaque so You can simply add more fresh garlic to your food or take garlic supplements if you don’t enjoy garlic in foods. 6. Take plant sterol supplements. Beta-sitosterol and sitostanol are two additional supplements that may have a positive impact on cholesterol. You can find these options in supplement form at most vitamin shops or health food stores. 7. Take coenzyme Q-10 (CoQ-10) supplements. CoQ-10 is an essential nutrient used to treat a variety of heart and blood vessel conditions. It can also counteract muscle pain resulting from other cholesterol-lowering medications called “statins.” Consider taking CoQ-10 if your doctor has prescribed one of these medications. check out my other similar videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFE8MFBZURI 😍 15 Foods That Unclog Arteries Naturally And Protect Against Heart Attack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-yVQyl2k4s 😍 7 Lifestyle Changes That Will Clean Your Arteries Naturally And Protect You From Heart Attack NOTE: The materials and the information contained onNatural ways channel are provided for general and educational purposes only and do not constitute any legal, medical or other professional advice on any subject matter. This video provides info to answer the question How To Lower Cholesterol Without Medication? Choose The Link Options To Visit That Website Now. What is cholesterol? A very simple explanation is that cholesterol is a waxy, fat like, substance. It is predominately found within the bodies of humans and many animals. It is in our bloodstream and throughout our body's cells. We need cholesterol to help our brain, skin, and other organs grow and work the way they should. The liver makes cholesterol for the body. Plus, people also add excess cholesterol into their bodies through the foods that they choose to eat. Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is considered the “bad” cholesterol because too much of it can turn into a thick, hard deposit called plague. It can clog arteries which can lead to many health problems including a heart attack or stroke. High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) is considered “good” cholesterol because it actually helps to remove the LDL cholesterol. So the real objective is not just simply lowering cholesterol. It is to maintain a good level of HDL. While reducing the presence of the LDL in you blood system. And, just like many things with our health, diet plays a very important role. There are foods that can help you do this naturally without drugs. Here are 5 that you will see over and over again. Oatmeal: Switching up your breakfast to regularly having a bowl of plain oatmeal can lower LDL cholesterol. Whole oats have a substance that absorbs the LDL. Your body then excretes it. Blueberries: There has been research that suggests blueberries may actually turn down the liver's production of cholesterol in your body Salmon, Tuna Mackerel, Trout: Omega-3 has numerous health benefits to the brain, heart, joints, and more. But on the topic of cholesterol Omega-3 has been shown to significantly increase the HDL while simultaneously lowering LDL. Walnuts, Almonds, Pistachios: Walnuts are high in a type of acid that has been shown to reduce LDL plague build up. A study showed pistachios lowers total and LDL cholesterol and can reduce the risk of diabetes-related disease in the arteries. Another study showed the more almond that were eaten the lower LDL dropped. Black Beans: Beans are also considered a Super Food. And there are many other health beneficial beans. But black beans have the richest source of soluble fiber which is a proven LDL cholesterol lowering agent. Exercise: Yes... there's just no escaping it. When it comes to health, you have to move your body. Exercise has been proven to lower cholesterol. WARNING! Cholesterol Drugs Found To Increase Risk Of Muscle Pain, Cell Damage, And Memory Loss!

WARNING! Cholesterol Drugs Found To Increase Risk Of Muscle Pain, Cell Damage, And Memory Loss! Have you ever heard of someone using Lipitor, Zocor and Crestor? Do you use these cholesterol drugs? If yes, make sure you finish reading this article. Statins are the most common prescription drugs Americans use. Health experts want you to believe that statins are the only solution to unhealthy cholesterol levels. Negative effects A group of Harvard cardiologists were worried about the current cholesterol guidelines. It turns out that statins can cause numerous side-effects, including: Muscle ache, damage and soreness Mitochondrial damage Type 2 diabetes Memory loss and other neurological problems Sexual dysfunction Researchers recognized the mistakes from previous studies, and patients received statins despite the fact they didn’t use any. This was quite dangerous, due to the fact that statins may cause serious harm, and lots of cardiologists stand with this one. Over 20% of all statin users experience muscle pain, damage, soreness, and high muscle enzymes. Statins contain substances that can poison mitochondria, and hence age your overall well-being and natural aging. Statins damage mitochondria and might even kill the cell completely. Another group of scientists observed the effect of statins in overweight people who sit for too many hours during the day. Participants followed a specific exercise program, and half of them received statins. It turns out that the statin-receiving group had no improvement in their physical fitness level. Moreover, those participants didn’t have any improvement in their physical condition. It was as if they didn’t do any exercise at all. Muscle biopsies showed the energy-production capacity in the cells of these people was reduced by 4.5 percent. It’s worth noticing that the condition of these people got even worse. Every statin user needs to understand this. We will witness a serious backlash against statins in future. Well, we have already seen some of the awful symptoms common in statin users. Statin alternatives Do a thorough Internet research, and find a much healthier alternative to statins. Learn how to boost your good cholesterol, and lower the bad one. Your heart matters, so take a great care of it.

Rosuvastatin (Crestor) Dosage - how low can you go? and maintain anti inflammatory effects?

Please watch: "(905) Mitochondria: Central Role in Aging 2018 (and how to reverse it)( warning - geeky)- FORD BREWER " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTKM0Lh078A --~-- Join the PrevMed Community: https://mailchi.mp/1224fb9e00e7/prevmed_community Ford Brewer MD MPH PrevMedHeartRisk.com David Hitchcock asked about low dose Crestor. Rosuvastatin has a half life of 17 hours. That means it take 17 hours for half of the medication to be excreted/neutralized/metabolized. So that allows us to give Crestor every other day, or even 3 times per week. Very low doses of Rosuvastatin have a positive impact on inflammation. We routinely give 5 or even 2.5 mg. If the inflammatory markers are low, and there are no unusual cholesterol problems, we can even go to 3 times per week dosage. Brad Bale and Amy Doneen have even reported decreases in inflammation from having some intolerant patients LICK the tablet thee times/week. And yes, lower doses are good. They mean lower side effects. About Dr. Brewer - Ford Brewer is a physician that started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many patients coming in dead from early heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. He went on the run the post-graduate training program (residency) in Preventive Medicine at Hopkins. What is the BEST DRINK to LOWER CHOLESTEROL? LOWER Your CHOLESTEROL NATURALLY By Drink this DRINK!

11:12
Drinks to Lower Cholesterol. High levels of bad cholesterol and total cholesterol increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Total cholesterol takes into account levels of both low-density lipoprotein, or bad cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein, or good cholesterol. According to the Mayo Clinic, your diet plays a critical role in reducing cholesterol levels. Adding particular beverages to your diet may be beneficial. Green Tea Green tea contains the highest levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, several studies show that this beverage can lower LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol levels. It also boosts levels of HDL cholesterol, which sweeps bad cholesterol from your arteries. Researchers believe that green tea’s polyphenols inhibit absorption of cholesterol in the intestines and enhance its excretion from your body. Berry Juice Berries help reduce blood cholesterol levels, but some are more effective than others. In a study conducted by the University of California at Davis, researchers found that fresh berries significantly decreased LDL cholesterol. Blackberries were the most effective, followed by red raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. More research is needed to determine the amount of berries or juice people should consume to lower cholesterol. However, drinking more berry juice on a regular basis may be beneficial. Tart Cherry Juice Tart cherries are loaded with antioxidants that provide several benefits, including reducing cholesterol levels. In a study conducted at the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center, rats that received whole tart cherry powder as part of a high-fat diet had significantly lower levels of cholesterol than other rats. Cherry juice is readily available at supermarkets and natural health stores. However, you can also make your own at home using dried cherries or cherry powder. Ginger Tea Ginger has been used medicinally for centuries to treat health problems such as nausea and diarrhea. Preliminary studies also indicate that it may also help lower cholesterol and prevent atherosclerosis, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, which recommends not consuming more than 4g of ginger daily. Caution While green tea and ginger tea are generally safe, in some cases they may cause side effects. For instance, drinking too much green tea may cause insomnia, dizziness or irritability. Ginger tea may cause heartburn or stomach upset. Also, these drinks can interact with certain medications. Consult your doctor about consuming these drinks to control your cholesterol levels.

Statin Side Effects

04:37
http://heartfitclinic.com for free webinar. Statin Side Effects Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death and number one cause of hospitalization in developed countries. Statin drugs are a common drug of choice in the prevention (lower cholesterol) and treatment of heart disease. The research is quite compelling showing the benefits of statin therapy. However does everyone need a statin? Let me start off by saying I am a big fan of statin therapy early on in the diagnosed heart disease process if patients can handle it. There should be a goal to eventually wane off this medication with a heart healthy lifestyle. The latest research on statin drug side effects shows that high potency statins are linked to acute kidney injury. What is high potency? 1. 10 mg or more of rosuvastatin (Crestor) 2. 20 mg or more of atorvastatin (Lipitor) 3. 40 mg or more of simvastatin (Zocor) Other side effects of statin drug therapy include: 1. Muscle pain and damage (Check out our great post on coenzyme q10 statins) 2. Liver damage. 3. Digestive problems. 4. Increased blood sugar or type 2 diabetes. 5. Neurological side effects such as memory loss, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease) Talks are they should be in the water that we drink but really you can do a lot with nutrition. I just read that there was a grocery store chain that was providing free statins (atorvastatin) to its customers. This was obviously a marketing promotion to get new customers. Pfizer branded Lipitor (atorvastatin) but their patent expired in 2011. So now the blockbuster drug is on the generic market. Pfizer has now just announced it will not market the drug anymore (all about making the shareholders happy). At the end of the day statins are a drug and they can come with side effects. The risks of taking a statin with statin side effects should be outweighed of the benefits. Because statins have side effect caution should be used when prescribing these drugs. Patients should understand the side effects of statin drugs. If you are diagnosed with high cholesterol and have been prescribed a statin then a good discussion has to be had with your prescribing doctor as to the reasons why? Doctors are given a handful of minutes at times with patients and try to mask the problem with a drug. Having high cholesterol does not mean you have to take statin therapy. As mentioned there are side effects and patients should be given a chance to reduce their numbers through lifestyle intervention. Good exercise program, stress management practices and nutrition program with possibly some supplements. Try this lifestyle therapy for 3 to 6 months and most people will see a big difference without having to go on statin therapy. In the event no change has been made then your healthcare team can decide the next step. It is important to understand that cholesterol is not the reason people end up with heart disease. It is inflammation. So the goal is to lower the inflammatory response. The reason statins do a great job is that it lowers LDL cholesterol and it also lower inflammatory response. You can always read my post on the truth about how to lower cholesterol. To your heart health success, Diamond Fernandes

Statin Scam Exposed: Cholesterol Drugs Cause Rapid Aging, Brain Damage And Diabetes

04:06
Statin Scam Exposed: Cholesterol Drugs Cause Rapid Aging, Brain Damage And Diabetes Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11 Statins are a treatment prescribed in the case of high “bad” cholesterol levels, as a way to reduce them and support heart health. However, a recent study has shown that they are far more harmful than beneficial. Statin drugs, like Crestor, Lipitor, and Zocor, are often prescribed, and only in the United States, more than $374 billion are spent on them in the year 2014. They are quite expensive, but consumers should worry about much more than the price. According to a study published in the American Journal of Physiology, statins “…impact on other biologic properties of stem cells provides a novel explanation for their adverse clinical effects. “ Hence, the side effects of these drugs include accelerated “process of aging” and the “…long-term use of statins has been associated with adverse effects including myopathy, neurological side effects and an increased risk of diabetes.” Myopathy is a condition of skeletal muscle weakness. Moreover, researchers have found the health issues caused by statins have been downplayed recently. People taking statins often experience muscle pain, memory loss, fatigue, liver damage, and cataracts. Also, statins wreak havoc in cells as they obstruct the repair process of the body. As stated by the professor Reza Izadpanah, a stem cell biologist and lead author of the published study, “Our study shows statins may speed up the aging process. People who use statins as a preventative medicine for [health] should think again as our research shows they may have general unwanted effects on the body which could include muscle pain, nerve problems, and joint problems.” Yet, even though statins are related to multiple side-effects, FDA claims they are safe and effective. At the same time, their online site maintains that “Cognitive (brain-related) impairment, such as memory loss, forgetfulness, and confusion, has been reported by some statin users” and that “People being treated with statins may have an increased risk of raised blood sugar levels and the development of Type 2 diabetes.” The site focuses on the advice of Amy G. Egan, M.D., M.P.H., the deputy director for safety in the FDA’s Division of Metabolism and Endocrinology Products (DMEP), who claims that: “This new information should not scare people off statins. Their benefit is indisputable, but they need to be taken with care and knowledge of their side effects.” However, the findings of recent studies indicate that there is a need for further research on the effects of prescription drugs, as they are linked to numerous adverse effects. Another similar study on the adolescent antidepressant “Paxil” found some rather disturbing facts as well. Namely, scientists have found certain flaws in the original study. They found that the drug is neither safe nor efficient. Hence, Brian Nosek, a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia believes that it “signals that the community is waking up, checking its work and doing what science is supposed to do — self-correct.” ====================================== statin drugs ,what are statin drugs ,cholesterol drugs ,new cholesterol drug ,statin drugs side effects ,list of statin drugs ,cholesterol lowering drugs ,cholesterol drugs list ,cholesterol reducing drugs ,non statin cholesterol drugs ,cholesterol drugs side effects ,side effects of cholesterol lowering drugs ,statin drugs for cholesterol ,statin drugs and memory loss ,dangers of statin drugs ,statin drugs and diabetes https://youtu.be/jc3h3x5KV1s Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11

Statins Linked to Low Testosterone

03:57
Statins are the Most Prescribed Drug in History By Far. If you are taking Statins, your health and even your manhood may be destroyed in the process. Find out more about this article in https://agelikeaman.com/ I am not a doctor or giving medical advice, however I urge you to dig deeper into this class of drug and make an informed decision about your health. Statins are taken by more people than any other prescription drug in the history of mankind. There are many startling things about that statement. Firstly, the connections between cholesterol and heart disease have been misinterpreted and misunderstood for years. Yet rates of heart disease continue to climb. And yet the the AMA recommends routinely prescribing statins for people with a risk of heart disease as low as 7%! That is a third of the entire population. With their track record, what makes the healthcare industry think they have a handle on this? What is wrong with this picture? The well-published side effects are liver damage and muscle weakness. A much lesser discussed side effect is lower testosterone and libido. I suppose that would not be great for sales to read that as a disclaimer. Yes, statin use has been linked to low testosterone and lower libido. It only make sense. It lowers cholesterol - the substance that your testicles use to make testosterone. And it compromises liver function - your liver removes estrogen from your body. Is it a big surprise that statins lower testosterone? Well if so, your doctor can prescribe Viagra and Androgel. I have never been a conspiracy theorist, but this stinks. A big part of this problem stems from doctors who follow the guidelines faithfully because it's easy and it minimizes any liability on their part. But as far as the drug companies are concerned - it is pure profit. Tens of billions per year and drastically rising. Is it any wonder that men's testosterone levels have been plummeting? There is a direct link between heart disease and low testosterone. Most studies conclude that therefore heart disease causes low T - that low T is a symptom. Correlation can be determined, but what about causality? Could low T effect your heart? It is a question that doesn't seem to be asked enough.
