Will Lithium Shortage Kill The EV Industry?

06:10
First I thought we should talk about where you can find lithium today. The truth is it’s likely on your body right now, you may be holding it in your hand, or you’re looking directly at it. But you might be surprised to know it’s also used in things like tools, aerospace equipment, military applications and backup storage for our Electric grid. And of course, Tesla’s and other electric cars // Looking to buy a Tesla S or X? Use our referral code and instantly receive $1,000 off and Free Supercharging! (limited) Get Started - https://teslanomics.co/td // It is so good for batteries that 39% of all Lithium production goes towards battery production. So what is Lithium anyway? Lithium itself is a soft, silvery-white alkali metal. It is the lightest metal and the lightest solid element. Like all alkali metals, lithium is highly reactive and flammable. So this isn’t something you’d want just laying around your house. Especially if you have a toddler running around like I do... So Lithium is a metal so it must be mined right, like copper? Well, not exactly. It’s true lithium can be mined from rocks but mostly it’s found in brine pools. Lithium is also present in seawater but there aren’t any commercially viable methods of extracting it at this time As an aside when you see a meme floating around the internet showing a giant mine where lithium comes from, it’s a lie. As of 2017, most of the world's lithium production is in South America, where lithium-containing brine is extracted from underground pools and concentrated by solar evaporation. The standard extraction technique is to evaporate water from brine. Each batch takes from 18 to 24 months. With so much demand for lithium it’s a fair question to ask... Are Tesla and others doomed? Well…not really The US Geological Survey’s report for 2017 shows that "Worldwide lithium production increased by an estimated 12% in 2016 in response to increased lithium demand for battery applications. Production in Argentina increased nearly 60%, primarily owing to a new brine operation; the leading Argentine producer also increased production. A producer in Chile reported that its production rose by 20%. Two small Australian spodumene operations, one new and one inactive since 2013, planned to begin commercial concentrate production by year end. Worldwide lithium production capacity was reported to be 49,400 tons in 2015; capacity utilization was estimated to be 64% in 2015 and 71% in 2016. Based on average projections by producers and industry analysists of about 14% growth worldwide, consumption of lithium in 2016 is projected to be about 37,800 tons, up from 33,300 tons in 2015. So the trend is going up, but when you look at the overall picture you find that owing to continuing exploration, lithium resources have increased substantially worldwide. Identified lithium resources in the United States, from continental brines, geothermal brines, hectorite, oil field brines, and pegmatites, have been revised to 6.9 million tons. Identified lithium resources in other countries have been revised to approximately 40 million tons. Identified lithium resources in Argentina and Bolivia are about 9 million tons each and in major producing countries are Australia, more than 2 million tons; Chile, more than 7.5 million tons; and China, approximately 7 million tons. Canada’s lithium resources are about 2 million tons. Congo (Kinshasa), Russia, and Serbia have resources of about 1 million tons each. Lithium resources in Brazil and Mexico are approximately 200,000 tons each and Austria, and Zimbabwe have more than 100,000 tons each. Beyond just producing more lithium, companies like Tesla have focused on creating a closed-loop battery recycling program since as early as 2011. So while Tesla drivetrains are rated to go 1M miles, and the batteries will likely last to last north of 350K miles, once the cars do get turned in, Tesla isn’t going to just throw away those precious metals. If you’re an investor in companies reliant on lithium for their batteries such as Tesla, Apple, Google, or any other company making electronics today, you shouldn’t worry about the supply chain. We’ve got a long road ahead of us and probably by the time we need to worry about a shortage of Lithium we’ll have a new way to make batteries that are even better. // Join Our Community on Patreon! Ghost Towns & Mines: Clayton Valley, NV - Lithium Mine 2017

01:48
I visited this deserted site on the fifth full day of my 2017 trip. Lithium is mined from this dry lake by pumping groundwater out from beneath the lakebed, and evaporating it in large, shallow ponds called "vats". Located next to the historic old mining town of Silver Peak, this is the only active lithium mine in North America. When seen from the air it is strangely beautiful. Go to this page on my website to see more photos of Silver Peak, NV and the Clayton Valley: http://www.raydunakin.com/Site/Silver_Peak_NV.html Be sure to check out the rest of my videos from this trip! I've been photographically documenting ghost towns, mines, mining camps and other historic places since 1987. Ancient mining town strikes the new gold

05:39
(8 Apr 2017) LEADIN: It's being hailed as the oil of the future and now lithium is about to transform the fortunes of a tiny ancient mining village in the Czech Republic. The metal is a key component for rechargeable batteries and is used in gadgets like mobile phones and tablets, but a huge surge in demand is on the horizon due to the rapid development of electric vehicles. STORYLINE: The small village of Cinovec, located on the Czech border with Germany, had a tin and later tungsten mining tradition dating back to 1378. It was abandoned in 1991 because it stopped being economically sustainable, but recent explorations have thrust it into the centre of a future boom by confirming a large deposit of lithium. The deposits here are considered the biggest on the European continent. It was known from the 1960s that lithium was here, but explorations didn't go ahead due to a lack of interest in the metal back then. The expected massive surge in demand for the metal - a key component in electric rechargeable batteries - means a revival of a centuries-long mining tradition in the northwestern Czech mountain range. The lightest of metals, it has a wide range of use from ceramics and greases to air treatment and medicine. But above all, it is a necessary part of rechargeable batteries. The predicted boom of electric cars and electric storage systems would be unlikely to happen without them. European Metals company (EMH) is listed on the London Stock Exchange and the Australian Securities Exchange in Sydney. Managing director Keith Coughlan says it is planning to open a mine at Cinovec in several years to produce at least 20,000 metric tons of lithium carbonate (about 3,800 tons of lithium) a year. That would put the country among the top five lithium makers in the world. "I believe it is a danger for Europe to continue to think that it can rely on Asia for its supply chain of battery related materials and in particular lithium. I think it is a very significant asset from a European perspective and I believe at some stage one of the major European end users will be interested in talking to us about supply from Cinovec," he says. "In terms of for how long (there could be a supply of lithium from the Cinovec mine), the study that we are currently doing plans on producing 20,000 tonnes per annum of lithium carbonate and the overall total resource is in excess of seven million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent. So as you can see, at that production rate there are many many years of production available from Cinovec," he adds. Czech company, Cinovecka Deponie has already secured all necessary permissions to extract lithium from a tailing, which is currently a sandy area with pines growing on it. Another company, Sanaka Industry, wants to do the same at a tailing in another area in the Ore Mountains near the town of Horni Slavkov. The spokesperson for both companies, Martin Frydl, underlines that despite growing demand, lithium isn't a guaranteed bet. "The industry can change, someone can come up with an invention for is instance, in the car industry, they would use hydrogen cells instead of lithium ones and so on. But at this time it looks like the lithium price is favourable, so the investment will be effective. But as any other investor we are working with some risk," he says. The tailings could yield a total of 7,500 metric tons of lithium with mining to start in next few years. Lithium can be found in brine deposits (Latin America), where most global reserves are believed to be, and in hard rocks (Australia, Czech Republic). Parts of the deposits here stretch to neighbouring Germany, where Canada's Baccanora company has been exploring it. Nouveau Monde graphite targets North American lithium-ion battery market

07:27
July 12, 2016 -- Nouveau Monde Mining Enterprises Inc. (TSXV: NOU | Frankfurt: NM9 | OTC Pink: NMGRF) owns the Matawinie graphite property, located in the Saint-Michel-des-Saints area, approximately 130 km north of Montreal, Québec. The project is also in close proximity to the Lac-Des-Îles mine, the only graphite producer in North America. The company is targeting the North American lithium-ion battery market which has given priority to obtaining local, green and safe supply of natural graphite. In this interview with InvestorIntel Publisher Tracy Weslosky, Nouveau Monde President and CEO Eric Desaulniers: ◾Discusses the recent private placement raising $2.31 million and the robust economic assessment of the Matawinie project. ◾Outlines the quality requirements for graphite in the market at present. ◾Details the infrastructure advantages and the presence of skilled local labour in the proposed mining area. ◾Indicates where the graphene potential is. As InvestorIntel has reported previously, Nouveau Monde is one of several companies that have joined forces to acquire a micronizing and spheronizing mill to produce spherical graphite, which they describe as a critical step in the production of anode material used in lithium-ion batteries. The partners' ultimate goal is to achieve full qualification of their materials by lithium-ion battery manufacturers. They see themselves as taking part in the first real effort by junior graphite companies to address the needs of the battery makers. Just as importantly, the technology will represent a major improvement over methods at present employed in China. Bold Lithium Prediction

05:46
At this year's Vancouver Commodities Forum, Jon Hykawy of Stormcrow Capital took some time to chat about lithium prices and what he thinks could be next for the lithium market. Despite all of the excitement in the lithium space right now, Hykawy believes that there could actually be a price correction in the near term. While he doesn't believe the market will see anything as run in uranium prices in 2007-2008, and the run up in rare earths prices in 2010 and 2011, he believes that high lithium prices is at least in part due to financial buyers coming into the market and speculating on physical lithium. While Hykawy admitted that there could be a bit of a bubble in the lithium sector, he believes it will still be a good market for lithium companies. In particular, three juniors he believes have strength are: Nemaska Lithium (TSXV:NMX) Houston Lake Mining (TSXV:HLM) Lithium Americas (TSXV:LAC) Watch the video below for more of what he had to say:

Petrolithium: 1-Day Clean Lithium Brine Extraction - MGX Minerals

04:00
MGX Minerals has Petrolithium technology for clean and rapid lithium brine extraction in just one day. With Petrolithium, MGX Minerals is leading the transition from fossil fuels to renewables through investments in battery commodities, extraction processes and clean technologies. Petrolithium is a new approach that focuses on concentrating lithium and other elements from abundantly available wastewater (brine) that accompanies oil and gas production. Long known to contain valuable elements, wastewater brine is plentiful, yet currently treated as a waste product that is either injected deep underground or stored in giant tanks after it is separated from oil. Advantages: Ability to utilize existing O&G infrastructure Cleans brine while separating valuable minerals Allows for scalable capital deployment Simplifies permitting process Eliminates solar evaporation step To see more videos like this one go to www.b-tv.com.

Tesla Model 3 Needs More Lithium, Cobalt and Graphite

11:38
http://goldstocktrades.com/blog We are in the midst of summer doldrums, volumes are down across the board. Shorts are clearly in charge. Just look at top performing Tesla $TSLA which was taken down on bearish reports indicating potential production shortfalls. Remember the shorts have been squeezed from possibly $50, Tesla recently was trading close to $400 per share so its entitled to a pullback. Tesla may not be able to keep up with production targets if they do not secure supplies of lithium, cobalt and graphite. Most of this supply comes from South American sources which may be sold out past a certain date. Cobalt is coming from Congo where there are concerns of child slave labor in the mining areas. Graphite is mostly imported from China which is sable rattling in the South China Seas and their proxy N. Korea. Lithium and cobalt are in a strong price uptrend. Graphite like rare earths have been manipulated lower by the Chinese to prevent competition from N. American sources. Cobalts is breaking into new multi year highs and is really driving interest in the junior mining sector. I’ve been highlighting LiCo $LIC.V, First Cobalt $FCC.V and Cobalt Power $CPO.V which I own and they are website sponsors. See my recent post on Cobalt Power $CPO.V $CBBWF which has an interview linked with the CEO Dr. Rompel who worked for major mining companies such as Anglo American and Hohschild. Cobalt Power may have one of the first drill results in cobalt sector to announce to public coming out shortly which I am quite excited about. Lico $LIC.V $WCTXF has a lithium project in the Atacama in Chile next to the big boys plus an exciting cobalt property in Ontario which may get some news. Lico has attracted some top notch board members such as former management of companies like BC Hydro and Truegold. First Cobalt $FCC.V $FTSSF is halted as they are merging into possibly the top pure play cobalt player in Canada with an all star roster of mining executives. These three companies above are very active and could announce significant developments concurrently with the Tesla Model 4 release which could be a major disruptor to the automobile industry as the Iphone was to the cell phone industry. We saw it with cell phones and internet, now it is the computerized self driving electric car. I wouldn’t be surprised if all of us are driving electric cars by 2030. As the Tesla Model 3 is released don’t be surprised to see an uptick in interest in the lithium, cobalt and graphite sector. In addition to the Model 3 news, major car companies such as Volvo, Volkswagon and BMW are committed towards electric motors. Volvo wants to be totally electric in two years. This is a huge news item which most investors are ignoring. They need to realize this transition of auto companies could create a major shift in the supply demand curve. Keep a close eye on China and its proxy N. Korea. There is a lot of tension in the South China Seas and this could boil over into the critical rare earths and graphite space needed desperately for renewable clean energy. Remember electric vehicles use a lot of graphite and rare earths. Now is the time to look at the rare earth survivors such as Ucore and Commerce. Notice Quest has gone bankrupt. Molycorp’s Mountain Pass is being stolen by the Chinese right under our noses. This is a travesty. Americans should write to their politicians and state they don’t want their mining and manufacturing industries sent overseas. We can mine rare earths, lithium, graphite and cobalt right here in North America. The rare earth market could bounce after the Molycorp and Quest bankruptcies. Things could get volatile with Trump and international relationships in Asia. Notice the major move in palladium in 2017 yet? Its outperformed mostly all asset classes. Most of that material comes out of Russia. Any good junior palladium explorers you like? Please let me know. Do you have Newrange Gold $NRG.V $CMBPF on your radar yet? They may be on the verge of one of the best high grade gold discoveries in Nevada in many years. Its just beginning to get noticed by investors as many just don’t care in the summer. However, I am quite excited and think you should take notice. Disclosure: I am biased. These companies are website sponsors and I own securities. Owning securities and receiving compensation is a conflict of interest. This contains forward looking statements which may not come to fruition as junior mining is extremely risky. This should be considered an advertisement and not financial advice. Do your own due diligence.

LEARN MORE AT: https://www.cypressdevelopmentcorp.com Successful resource investing is all about identifying prospective companies with an excellent project while their share prices are low enough to have the opportunity for a two, five, 10-times gain or more when things go right. Junior mining has so many small-cap companies chasing discoveries that investors need to be really smart about which companies they choose to buy into. The space is rife with charlatans and pump and dumpers so the maxim is always “buyer beware”. Having said that, there are times in the market, or it’s more accurate to say, submarkets according to commodity, when a company slips under the radar and isn’t being properly valued by investors - whether those investors are institutional or retail. In our opinion such is the case with Cypress Development Corp (TSXV:CYP), which just put out a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) that should have had investors turning their heads so fast they got whiplash. Cypress Development (TSX-V: CYP) (OTCQB: CYDVF) is a publicly traded exploration company focused on developing the Company’s 100%-held Clayton Valley Lithium Project in the State of Nevada, U.S.A. The Company's Clayton Valley Project is located immediately east of Albemarle’s Silver Peak mine, North America’s only lithium brine operation. Metallurgical tests have shown the claystone is weak acid leachable with lithium extractions over 80% in 2 to 8 hours. The next great graphite company to prepare for production in North America

05:20
February 18, 2015 -- Tracy Weslosky, Publisher of InvestorIntel speaks to Paul Gorman, CEO and Director for Great Lakes Graphite (‘Great Lakes’, TSXV: GLK) about his recent drill results and the high-grade-low capex deposit, which makes Great Lakes the next great graphite company to prepare for production in North America. Tracy Weslosky: Paul, I want to talk to you about your drill results. You had really two significant results that I'm sure you'd love to highlight for us. Paul Gorman: We're very excited about it and the reason why is because drilling for an industrial minerals company is the backbone to understanding your deposit. SRK Consulting has come in and shown us that in order for us to get our deposit to where we want it to be, our resource calculation to where we want it to be, these results had to be good. We came out two weeks ago with the results and they were fantastic. The intercepts were great, the grade was great and it's meeting all the expectations that we had when we first endeavored on buying Lochaber back in May. Tracy Weslosky: Well, can you be more specific about these drill results? Paul Gorman: Yeah. I mean, most of the grade is showing plus 3% or 4%, up to 10%, which means that as a high-grade low-capex deposit at surface we're able to go in build the mine, build the mine at surface and not have to go too deep. Our costs will be lower, our grade will be higher and our costs going through to the customer will be much lower than the rest of our peer group. Tracy Weslosky: For anyone out there in InvestorIntel audience land, Great Lakes Graphite has one of the best group of shareholders I've ever experienced in my life. In fact, you have, like, diehard shareholders. Everybody I meet on Bay Street are all shareholders of Great Lakes. Can you tell me why? Is it your personality Paul or is it the story? Paul Gorman: I think it's the story. I think if you look at Great Lakes Graphite, you look at the Lochaber, you look at our team, you look at our customers, you look at the whole package and then you look at where we're trading, how can you not love Great Lakes Graphite? We have the team, the infrastructure. We have the deposit that's now coming to resource calculation. We have SRK Consulting doing all our work, which is one of the most well-known groups out there doing all of the work for us. We've got a perfect storm right now brewing. We think that graphite, we think that industrial minerals, we think that this world's about to explode with all the good news coming out at the macro level and we're just focusing on what we need to do. These shareholders have been behind this because they understand what we're doing. They understand our management team's capabilities and most of all they love the fact that graphite is going to be one of the major chemistries going into the new technologies in the new world. Tracy Weslosky: Of course, I agree with you completely, but now what I'd really like you to do is to take a couple of minutes for those out there who may not be part of the very elite crowd that all own Great Lakes Graphite, can you explain a little bit more about your infrastructure cause it's my understanding that, you know, you can see your--- your infrastructure is, what, 20 miles from Ottawa? 15:30
June 6, 2018 – "Every single brine asset in the world is visible from outer space. Everyone knows where they are. You are competing with everyone. There is no way you have a competitive advantage in terms of finding these things because everyone knows where they are. Your competitive advantage is in understanding the paradigm shift that is happening in the world first, picking a jurisdiction where you have competitive advantage and then basically hitting it with full force." states Tim McCutcheon, President of Wealth Minerals Ltd. (TSXV: WML | OTCQX: WMLLF), in a recent presentation at the 7th Annual InvestorIntel Summit – Buds, Batteries & Blockchain 2018. Tim McCutcheon: We will go through obviously the disclaimers and forward looking statements. The key thing about Wealth Minerals and, again, I think in the interest of time in having it be a little more focused, I have a tendency to skip around a little bit so please forgive me on that, but the idea really is to give you an understanding of what Wealth Minerals is and where we are going. The company has been around for a while obviously, but its current form in terms of being involved in the lithium space, started about 2 years ago. Market cap, anywhere between $150 and $170 million dollars. As I am sure you are probably aware that the volatility in the lithium market right now is quite high, lithium equity market, so things are moving all over the place. In general we are well north of a $100 million dollar market cap, which means that we are already getting interest from institutional investors and, sort of, out of the retail space and now into the institutional space. Four lithium projects, all of them in Chile. I think the key thing that we like to present about ourselves is, Chile as jurisdiction is a great place to be. It is a mining friendly place. It has a proven track record of over decades of being fair to investors, being stable, both on a macro level, on a fiscal level. It is not a country you go to wake up the next morning and find something horrible happened in newspapers. It is a fairly predictable place. As far as our team goes we have an unparalleled ability to operate within Chile in part because of the track record of the team. Our country manager is Marcelo Awad. He was the CEO at Antofagasta, one of the world’s largest copper mining companies and he was an Executive Vice President at Codelco, which is a state mining company for Chile, obviously a major player in that country. There are a bunch of other reasons as well, but, again skipping on. As a timeline, as we just spoke about, about 2 years ago the company got started in the lithium space. Our basic idea was to put together a platform. That platform was put together in the beginning of 2016. Use that platform to acquire assets. Again, what I mentioned in the panel a little bit earlier, the lithium space, at least in where we are focused, which is South America a triangle for salars, brine assets. Every single brine asset in the world is visible from outer space. Everyone knows where they are. You are competing with everyone. There is no way you have a competitive advantage in terms of finding these things because everyone knows where they are. Your competitive advantage is in understanding the paradigm shift that is happening in the world first, picking a jurisdiction where you have competitive advantage and then basically hitting it with full force...to access the complete presentation, click here Disclaimer: Wealth Minerals Ltd. is an advertorial member of InvestorIntel Corp.

Is Cobalt The New Lithium? - Disruptive Discoveries Editor

03:22
Aside from precious metals, investors were interested in other metals like lithium and cobalt at the Mines & Money conference in New York; and, to newsletter writer Chris Berry, cobalt may be the metal to watch right now. ‘I’m actually more excited and intrigued by cobalt than I am about lithium just because of the fact that almost all of it is produced as a by-product and almost all of it in the tune of 60% comes from the DRC,’ he told Kitco News. The problem? ‘There’s really no way to get pure play exposure,’ he explained. Walk-through of the shortest production RV in North America: Hymer Group's Carado Axion

16:42
We bought our 2017 Axion on July 31, 2018. Ours has pretty much all the options--200w solar panel and charge controller, Lithium 400 batteries, underhood generator, 24" flat screen TV with Blu-Ray player (both running on 12V), GPS, 2" hitch, Satellite Radio, Back-Up Monitor/Sensors, Aluminum Wheels. It's built on a Ram Promaster 1500 High Roof van with 136" wheelbase. Total length is 17'9". The fold-up hitch-mounted cargo carrier adds a few inches when folded, but it still fits a normal parking space. There is no Mercedes Sprinter this length. There's a comparable short-wheelbase Ford Transit, but no RV in production is based on it. GMC's vans are a 20 year old design--not competitive. Strangely, the Axion lists for $1,500 more than its big brother the Banff, 21" longer. This is not a budget RV--it has a raft of high end state of the art features. What it is, is short. It turned out to be the only RV we could buy because we live in a condo and nothing else would fit our parking spaces. It's also good for those who prioritize mobility and ability to fit into normal parking spaces. From our point of view it's big and spacious because we spent the last 20 years camping in an even smaller VW Eurovan Camper. That said, we did find the hitch mounted cargo carrier ($60 at Walmart) a necessity. Storage in a camper this short is limited, and you can't put anything on the roof (the AC and solar panels take up most of the space up there). This walk-through just hits the high points. I haven't shown how to deploy the awning, operate the water heater/furnace, dump the black/gray water tank, or use the cockpit features. But this does show the trade-offs innate to making a fully self-contained RV as short as this. The Banff is more popular than the Axion--those extra 21" of length get you more cargo space for sure. And you can travel with a buddy you aren't sleeping with in the Banff, which gives you the option of two single beds pushing them together to make a single king sized bed. And for a couple that king sized be is certainly more spacious. The Axion provides a single full-sized bed (47" x 74"). On the other hand, the Axion has a much more usable kitchen layout, provides similar specs for the appliances and holding tanks generally, and, oddly enough, you can entertain more people in an Axion--the couch is next to the cab, providing seating (while parked) for six or even seven people. For the Banff figure on four people. Both vans have the same number of seatbelts: two. On our first campiing trip in the Axion, to Lake Tahoe, we found it to be easy to drive and capable on the road, easy to park at the campsite (short, and no need to level the van precisely because the fridge is electric), very spacious-feeling with the sliding door and rear hatches open, and the cargo carrier worked out well. Setting up the bed took some effort, but it was manageable. The solar panel is wonderful, as are the extra batteries and the under-hood generator. It brings "self contained" to a new level of meaning. Every RV is a compromise between what it's like when it's moving and what it's like standing still. This leans towards the former. IF that matches your priorities, it could be the RV equivalent of your soul mate.

MGX Minerals sees double digit growth in lithium in 10 years

07:52
MGX Minerals Inc (CNSX:XMG) Chief Executive Jared Lazerson tells Proactive Investors that the company is creating a third category in global lithium production: lithium brine. "Scale is one thing that makes it very interesting and as well the technology and the ability to process this brine in an efficient, economic way" he says. The more common methods of lithium production are large evaporation projects in South America and hard rock lithium, primarily produced in Australia. Lazerson says this third category will help the company tap into a market with big potential. "We see fairly consistent growth - double digit growth over the next ten years, with the development of electric vehicles plus the push for autonomous home storage systems" he says.

Proximity to major lithium-ion battery production demand is key for Global Li-Ion

03:56
Global Li-Ion Graphite Corp. (CSE: LION) is focused on the exploration and development of graphite projects for the emerging energy storage industry. They intend to become a principle supplier of graphite to the rapidly growing lithium ion battery industry — including Tesla’s expansive Nevada Gigafactory and others slated to open globally. In this interview, Jason Walsh, Chairman of Global Li-Ion, speaks with Hannah Bernard on why the company is focused on graphite. Principle among reasons is that it is a major component of an ion battery, and graphite is one of the last energy metals to catch up to the likes of lithium and cobalt. With China producing approximately 80% of the world’s graphite and graphite oxide and India having an aggressive plan to implement fossil fuel-free vehicles by 2035, Global Li-Ion’s projects in Madagascar could prove to be in an ideal location. The Chedic Mine, outside of Carson City, Nevada, is 20 minutes away from Tesla’s Gigafactory. The third graphite project is the Neuron Project outside of Thompson, Manitoba — thought to be one of the richest graphite discoveries in North America. Jason discusses Global Li-Ion’s partnership with BEGO Technologies. BEGO has developed a process to take graphite to graphene. Jason explains that when graphite is replaced with graphene in an ion battery, the battery charges fasters, holds its charge longer, operates cooler, and becomes lighter in weight. Jason describes Global Li-Ion Graphite as a well-structured company that is well-financed. The company was able to use stock as a currency to secure premium assets, and he sees the market in the beginning of a commodity curve. 10 Reasons why Pure Energy (PE.V) Could Be a Leading Candidate To Supply Low Cost Lithium

14:43
http://goldstocktrades.com/blog There is a huge energy shift happening right before our very eyes. Look at how the Li-Ion Battery has penetrated into many of the portable electronic devices we use everyday. Power tools, smart phones, tablets... Now even the automobile industry is transforming as electric vehicles are making huge penetration into overall market share. Demand is growing rapidly and could quadruple over the next 20 years. Meanwhile, supply is limited and that is why lithium is one of the few commodities rising in value even in US dollar terms. Earlier this year I highlighted Pure Energy Minerals (PE.V or HMGLF) as being one of the leading candidates to supply major battery factories in Nevada for the following 10 reasons. 1) Location-Pure Energy owns 8000+ acres in Clayton Valley, Nevada next to the only producing lithium mine in North America where there is existing infrastructure. 2)Resource-Pure Energy has already delivered a 43-101 inferred resource of 816k metric tonnes of Lithium Carbonate Equivalent. 3)Brine-The deposit is brine which can be easily mined and is the lowest cost type of lithium resource to process. 4)Strategic Partners-Pure Energy has great partners with POSCO and Bateman who are using next generation technologies to engineer high quality battery grade lithium products. 5)Infrastructure-The infrastructure is excellent with a paved highway to the project and a power sub station at site. 6)Proximity to end users-The project is only a 3 hour drive to the Gigafactory. 7)Jurisdiction-Nevada is a mining friendly state with straight forward permitting guidelines. 8)Timeline-Timing of production coincides with startup of Gigafactory. 9)Advanced Stage-Pure Energy is at PEA stage which could be published in next few months. 10)Supply Agreement-Pure Energy is one of the few companies who have already secured a supply agreement with a leading electric vehicle manufacturer. In conclusion, Pure Energy could be a long term winner over the next 2-3 years. It has pulled back to the 200 day moving average which means that it is fairly priced right now in the market and should soon find support. Disclosure: I own Pure Energy Minerals and they are a website sponsor. Please do your own due diligence as this is not investment advice. Be aware that I have a conflict of interest and would benefit if the price goes higher.

Fundamentals likely to stay very strong for lithium - Mining Capital's Alastair Ford

06:05
Mining Capital's Alastair Ford talks lithium and the opportunities presented in both south east Asia and Europe by Pan Asia Metals and European Metals Holdings Limited (LON:EMH) respectively. Ford says that outside of China, there’s only one lithium project in all of South East Asia - Reung Kiet and it’s situated in Southern Thailand. It's held by Pan Asia Metals, a privately-held Singaporean company that’s due to list on London’s AIM market in the first half of next year. On European Metals, Ford says: ''I think they've got one of the very well-set lithium projects available to us on the market in London and indeed anywhere in the world ... it's especially attractive for its size but also for its location''. In usual form, Ford also touches on a number of other developments in the mining sector including the recent CRU conference and strengthening zinc prices plus suspicions copper will be the metal to watch in 2018.

Dajin Resources (DJI.V or DJIFF) A Leader in Lithium Brine Development in Nevada and Argentina

12:34
http://goldstocktrades.com/blog Although there are many new entrants into the lithium exploration sector, Dajin Resources (DJI.V or DJIFF) has been developing and exploring strategically located lithium brines in NW Argentina and Nevada for many years. The building of the Tesla Gigafactory in Nevada has caused a major uptick of interest in the junior lithium sector especially targets in Nevada, the “Silver State” which may now change its name to the “Lithium State”. Dajin (DJI.V or DJIFF) acquired the Alkali Lake and Teels Marsh Property in Nevada before the rush began. Alkali Lake is only 12 km from the only productive lithium asset in North America which is owned by Albemarle who recently bought out Rockwood. This productive mine is running out of mine life and the brine concentrations may be decreasing with time. There must be new basins found and Dajin is one of the leaders in that search. In addition to Alkali Lake, Dajin owns Teels Marsh, a deep closed basin, located east of a large volcanic eruption which the Dajin team believes could have ash that contains lithium and boron. Dajin just released news this morning that they recovered sediments with values as high as 310 ppm Lithium and 8,600 ppm Boron. The company also was encouraged that the northeast area of Teels Marsh has sediments high in Lithium. See the full news release distributed this morning by clicking here... Do not forget that Dajin also has a nice position in NW Argentina Jujuy Province also known as the Lithium Triangle where 80% of the world’s lithium is found. Dajin’s concessions are contiguous with Orocobre (ORL.TO) and Dajin believes that once they start drilling they could possibly mirror the success that Orocobre with the possibility of developing an inferred resource. The recent election ousting the previous government with a pro-mining leader should be good for the lithium developers in Argentina such as Dajin and one of our other favorites in the Jujuy Province, Western Lithium (WLC.TO or WLCDF) who has approval to construct the Cauchari Project with their partner Posco. This Lithium Triangle has some of the lowest cost production. I hope to hear good news soon that Dajin gets its exploration permit from the Ministry of Mines. This will allow them to explore and drill their exciting land package. Disclosure: I own Dajin Resources and am currently on the bid to buy more. They are also a website sponsor so please do your own due diligence and be aware of any conflict of interest.

Lifton on the hottest resource topic in China today - lithium

08:02
July 13, 2016 -- InvestorIntel Senior Editor Jack Lifton is just back from his latest visit to China where he picked more impressions of what is shaping that country's policies on acquiring resource projects around the world. He sees this as part of a much larger, and longer story, of how the world has changed and evolved: Britain and the United States had their moments in the sun, now it's China's turn. In this interview with InvestorIntel Publisher Tracy Weslosky, Jack Lifton: ◾Explains that Chinese companies are not buying foreign projects to make money in the stock market, but to acquire raw materials for their industries. ◾How their focus is shifting from buying only producing companies to juniors that are in the development phase. ◾How Chinese capital will help North American mining stay in business. And he reports on what is the hottest resource topic in China today — it's lithium.

Afghanistan's Secret Billion Dollar Emerald Mines

He's a Frenchman who first came to Afghanistan to train Afghan security services before venturing into the emerald trade. He sees a huge chance here to exploit a market that could easily increase in value twenty or thirty-fold, but the obstacles are not inconsiderable. Just to get to the mines Raphael has to travel the 150 Kilometres from Kabul to Panjshir, right through Taliban kidnap country. When he gets there he finds an industry in the dark ages, where homemade pyrotechnics are exploded in poorly dug mineshafts, killing many miners and ruining the quality of up to 75% of the stones they dig. "If you see the damage being done to these stones... so much is lost", Yama Torabi from Integrity Watch Afghanistan tells us. The government here remains hopelessly out of touch with the industry that "still (uses) a mining law adopted 100 years ago". But as the country prepares for elections and Europeans like Raphael open up the gem trade here, could this be a beacon of hope for the future? Harry Barr on Lithium projects and resurgence of interest in Platinum Metals

03:53
March 24, 2017 -- Harry Barr, Chairman, CEO, and Director of New Age Metals Inc. (TSXV: NAM | OTCQB: PAWEF), in an interview with InvestorIntel’s CEO Tracy Weslosky discuss the company’s place in the precious metals market with respect to PGMs and lithium. At the moment, they have roughly 70.8 tonnes of PGMs with a focus on palladium first and platinum second. With the resurgence of platinum metals, the company has a competitive edge: they’re one of the few producers inside North America. On the lithium side, the company has five projects around Winnipeg, Canada, two of which will soon begin drilling, and two more that will follow suit in the coming months. Tracy Weslosky: Harry it’s wonderful to see you. I love the new company name, 'New Age Metals'. Can you tell us, what was the incentive to change the name? Harry Barr: We have two divisions Tracy and they’re both green energy metals so we thought 'New Age Metals' would better describe what we’re doing. One of them is platinum group metals and the other is lithium. Tracy Weslosky: What I’d love to just share with our audience is Christopher Ecclestone called me recently and said, “Who is this New Age Metals and why didn’t you tell me about it?”... Let’s talk about PGMs first. Harry Barr: We have the largest undeveloped deposit of its kind in platinum group metals, in Canada. We have 2.5 million ounces and a new discovery in the northern portion of the property. We’re quite excited about it. Tracy Weslosky: I was reading a story about you called, “The New Age Dawn of Palladium”. They were talking about how platinum’s back on a tear. Can you tell me how New Age Metals is planning on capitalizing on this? Harry Barr: Our project is primarily a PGM project. We’re palladium first, platinum second, gold third and we have some other metals as well. Palladium has done very well. I think it’s one of the best performing precious metals this year. It’s in the high $700 range. Platinum is just over $1,000. These are metals that are needed for auto catalysts for the car industry and green metals. So from everything I’ve read and everything the analysts are saying, there’s a tremendous demand going forward and probably a limited supply. Tracy Weslosky: But your competitive advantage for New Age Metals is with your PGMs? Harry Barr: We’re located in North America. Most PGMs come from South Africa and Russia Disclaimer: New Age Metals Inc. is an advertorial member of InvestorIntel
