Use of chemicals like fluoride and chlorine in the water supply make magnesium less available in water since these chemicals can bind to magnesium Both a high sugar intake and elevated insulin levels (which can result from a high intake of refined carbs, including sugar) have been shown to increase the excretion of magnesium by the kidneys, by inhibiting tubular reabsorption (the same process that leads to calcium excretion) and by guzzling through the body’s magnesium reserves during sugar metabolism *Tubular reabsorption is the process by which solutes and water are removed from the tubular fluid and transported into the blood* Partly why people with diabetes or chronically high insulin tend to have higher magnesium requirements and more rapid magnesium depletion 3 Signs of Magnesium Deficiency - Cramps/Tight Muscles, Anxiety/Stress, Sleeplessness Cramps/Tight Muscles Magnesium directly interacts with your muscle tissue through a process called ion transportation. When magnesium contacts your cell membranes, it bonds with specific receptor sites that open up the cell membrane and allow other mineral ions to enter, such as calcium and potassium. These ions help regulate muscle contractions and might ease muscle tension Too much calcium: Calcium and magnesium have a partnership in the body - calcium causes muscles to contract and magnesium causes them to relax. If there is too much calcium in your body, which is common in the typical American diet, –there won’t be enough magnesium to balance out the calcium –so your muscles won’t be able to properly relax (3) Sleeplessness In order to fall asleep your body and brain need to relax Magnesium aids this process by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, the system responsible for getting you calm and relaxed Magnesium regulates neurotransmitters, which send signals throughout the nervous system and brain and regulates melatonin, which guides sleep-wake cycles in your body It also binds to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors and activates them. GABA is the neurotransmitter responsible for quieting down nerve activity A lack of magnesium can result in low GABA levels, and when GABA is low, your brain gets stuck in the “on” position and it becomes impossible to relax (4) Magnesium also plays a part in helping you achieve deep and restful sleep as well (6) Anxiety/Stress Increasing GABA not only promotes sleep, but also reduces anxiety and stress Low GABA is associated with numerous stress-related disorders including generalized anxiety disorder, panic attacks, and irritable bowel syndrome And, as mentioned, magnesium is important for binding and activating GABA receptors. It's free and very enlightening. Body Stress is the physical tension or residue of tightness or contraction that gets stuck in the body. But in reality, it's not something that is stuck. It is the body's reaction to stress that is stuck. The body experiences some overwhelming stress and reacts by tightening its muscles. This tightness then continues to stay tight long after the stress. This is an inappropriate body reaction. Body stress is a tightness that will not let go and relax. In other words, the body is stuck in guarding or protection mode. The body will continue to react to trauma and other stress long after the stress is gone. The body or brain has lost its control over the body part that is reacting to stress much like a house that blew a fuse. Sustained stress for a long time, overwhelming stress or a sudden shock or injury tends to create this chronic tension. Where does stress accumulate in the body?  Around the injury  Around the infection (sinus, throat, chest)  Around the heart  Around the gallbladder  Abdomen  Adrenal gland area (anterior and posterior)  Flight or fight area (in the mid-back)  Upper neck area to back of skull  Under the clavicle area  Areas of over strain (feet, back, etc.) Body Stress is form of body protection. The body is stopping motion so as to avoid getting hurt again. If you pull your muscle, the body will then, afterwards, protect the muscle by keeping it contracted or tight. Of course, this only has a short term benefit. There is no long term benefit. It's an inappropriate action because the danger is long gone. Acupressure is our tool of removing inappropriate body tension (stress). Chronic stress from multiple injuries, emotional upsets and losses, pregnancies or infections or even sustained environmental stress over time can accumulate in the body. Physical body stress can be measured through our testing. Over time, as stress accumulates, it can create all sorts of health problems including extra weight gain. The adrenal hormone called cortisol has as one of its functions to store fat in the belly and is triggered by stress. 9 Signs You’re Eating Too Much Sugar

We are all guilty of adding some sugar here and there to make things taste better, but what might seem like innocent pleasure can actually cause a lot of serious health issues when we put too much sugar in our body. Luckily, our system gives us crystal-clear signs when we’ve crossed that line and should stop doing that immediately to protect ourselves from health problems. Large amounts of sugar in your diet cause your cells to go through complicated biochemical processes that result in muscle aches and pains, joint stiffness and swelling. Food high in sugar won’t make you feel full because it doesn’t contain any useful nutrients, which is why you often feel hungry even if you just ate a big delicious sugary muffin like half an hour ago. When you eat sweet stuff, the pancreas releases insulin to help bring glucose to the cells, giving you a rush of energy. Once the cycle ends, though, your energy levels drop because your body wants more sugar. And this can start a never-ending cycle of overeating sugar in order to stay energized. If not brushed away properly, food debris causes the appearance of plaque on your teeth, which erodes the tooth’s hard enamel surface resulting in tiny holes. Always make sure to brush AND floss your teeth properly, use an antibacterial mouthwash, and visit your dentist regularly. Bloating is directly connected to what you eat and how your body can digest it. If sugar isn’t absorbed into the small intestine (and not all of it will if there’s too much of it), it’ll enter the large intestine where it usually acts like gas-producing bacteria. This Miracle Recipe Will Relieve Your Back, Joints and Legs Pain

In this video we’re going to teach you two recipes to eliminate joint pain. This will help alleviate back and leg pains also. The principal ingredient in these recipes is gelatin. Gelatin contains two amino acids, Proline and Hydroxy-proline, both of which are beneficial to healthy joint fabric. Besides providing strength to the joints and heart muscles, gelatin improves your metabolism and skin. It’s rich in collagen, a protein that is found for the most part in bone tissue. Collagen is another reason why gelatin is extremely beneficial in strengthening the joints and muscles of the heart, improving metabolism, increasing mental capacity and avoiding the emergence of bone issues such as arthritis and osteoporosis. In this recipe you're going to use colorless, flavorless gelatins. The colored gelatins normally use dyes that add toxins to our bodies. You can find this colorless, flavorless gelatin in any good supermarket and most health food stores. So, how does this treatment go? It’s very simple. At night, before going to bed, mix 5 grams of gelatin in a quarter cup of cold water. Let the mixture sit out over night. Don’t put it in the refrigerator. This mixture is going to turn into a jello like substance. The next morning, eat this jello on an empty stomach. If you want, you can add a little bit of honey or freshly squeezed lemon or orange juice. Within seven days, you’ll start to feel the benefits. Continue this treatment for thirty days and repeat the process after six months. The second recipe helps in the strengthening of joints and muscles, increasing mental capacity and avoiding the emergence of bone problems such as arthritis and osteoporosis. This recipe contains a high amount of vitamin C, that helps in the prevention of several bone illnesses and also has anti-inflammatory properties. This recipe not only has vitamin C, but also contains manganese that helps the bones and assists in the breaking down of fat and carbohydrates. It also works to absorb calcium and regulates the blood sugar. Manganese is also rich in collagen. INGREDIENTS: 250 ml of water 1 cup of oatmeal 2 cups of chopped pineapple 1 cup of orange juice 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon 5 grams of powdered gelatin (colorless and flavorless) INSTRUCTIONS: Boil the water, adding the oatmeal and stirring continuously. Wait for it to cool. Next, prepare the juice in a blender - blend the pineapple, gelatin, orange juice and cinnamon. After that, mix in the oatmeal and blend again. Drink immediately. Lung cancer is the second most common cancer in men and women, and the leading cause of cancer death according to the American Cancer Society. While you may think that smokers are the only segment of the population at risk for lung cancer, you may be surprised to know that twenty percent of lung cancer deaths are people who do not smoke. The American Cancer Society explains that air pollution, secondhand smoke, gas, and cancer-causing agents, such as asbestos and gas oil, are the main risk factors for lung cancer. The best defense against lung cancer is to know the first signs and symptoms. The sooner you visit your doctor and the sooner the cancer is diagnosed, the better chance of recovery. Continue reading to learn about the first signs and symptoms of lung cancer. Frequent illness. If you have noticed a spike in your frequency of illnesses such as colds, flu, bronchitis or pneumonia, you should talk to your doctor about the possible causes of your depressed immune system. Dr. Kelley says that when cancer sits in lung tissue and bronchial tubes, the lungs become more susceptible to the disease. Unexplained weight loss. If you have lost interest in food or feel full quickly after eating, lung cancer may be affecting your appetite. Dr. Kelley recommends having a notebook to record symptoms and possible causes, such as food poisoning, food allergy, PMS in women, or gastrointestinal diseases. If the cause is unexplained, you need the attention of your doctor. Pain of the fingers. You may be surprised to know that thick and painful fingertips are a typical symptom of lung cancer. This is because lung tumors release chemicals in the bloodstream that stimulate the growth of bones and tissues at the fingertips and under the nails. Dr. Kelley says that you should tell your doctor about any thickening, swelling, or tapping on your fingers. Pain in the torso. If you experience persistent dull pain in the chest, shoulder, back, or abdomen, you may be experiencing direct pressure from a lung tumor. According to Dr. Kelley, chest pain is a symptom in one in four patients with lung cancer. Hoarsely. If your voice sounds a little hoarse or if you feel pain when swallowing or talking, you may have lung cancer. NHS Choices says that this common symptom is a reason to call your doctor, especially when accompanied by a persistent cough, wheezing or coughing up blood. Shortness of breath. This is a common symptom in women who are often misdiagnosed as a side effect of age or inactivity. Shortness of breath is a sign of adenocarcinoma, the most common form of lung cancer in women. Weakness in the upper limbs. Weakness in the upper limbs, loss of coordination and muscle cramps are all symptoms of paraneoplastic syndrome, a condition related to lung cancer in which hormonal substances are secreted by tumors. Breast growth in men. One less talked about symptom in male lung cancer patients is enlargement of the breast around and under the nipple. We often get this vitamin from exposure to sunlight, but it is also obtained by eating certain foods such as fish and dairy products. Vitamin D supplementation is also popular, since getting enough of this vitamin is difficult from diet alone. Unfortunately, there are quite a few individuals who are deficient in this vitamin without even knowing it as the signs and symptoms are either subtle or not well known. Over time this could have a negative effect on an individuals quality of life. Lets discuss some signs and symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. 1. Those who are vitamin D deficient may feel more fatigued and tired. Since there are so many reasons why we can feel tired and fatigued during the day, such as lack of sleep or obesity, vitamin D deficiency is often overlooked. Vitamin D deficiency can cause daytime fatigue or even make it harder to get out of bed in the mornings, even with quality sleep. 2. Vitamin D plays an important role in keeping our immune system strong and free from different bacteria and illness. This is because vitamin D directly effects the cells that are responsible for fighting against infection. Therefore, another sign and symptom of vitamin D deficiency is getting sick more often. Low levels of vitamin D can be a contributing factor to becoming infected with cold and flus more often. As well, it has been found that taking vitamin D supplements may reduce the risk of certain respiratory tract infections. 3. Another possible symptom of vitamin D deficiency is bone and lower back pain. Vitamin D is an important vitamin for maintaining overall bone health. It supports bone health and helps with the body’s absorption of calcium. It has been found that those individuals with a vitamin D deficiency were more like to have back pain which often limited their daily activities. As well, they were also more likely to have bone pain through out their bodies, such as in their legs and joints. A deficiency in this vitamin will not only cause bone pain, but it can also cause bone loss since it not only helps with calcium absorption, but also bone metabolism. This can lead to lower bone mineral density. 4. Vitamin D deficiency may also negatively effect our mood. Feelings of depression may be a sign of vitamin D deficiency. This has often been linked to older adults. By being deficient in this vitamin, it may also cause seasonal depression during the colder months, when exposure to sunlight is limited. Depression and all mental health symptoms are complex and should be discussed with your medical practitioner to determine its exact cause and remedy. 5. Lastly, another sign and symptom of vitamin D deficiency may be hair loss. When hair loss is severe, this can be the result of nutrient deficiency. Hair loss may be a sign of vitamin D deficiency in female-patten hair loss. As well, there have been links found between low levels of vitamin D and alopecia areata, and low levels of this vitamin may be a risk factor for developing this autoimmune disease which can effect hair loss. Be sure to discuss any of the above signs and symptoms with your medical practitioner to determine their exact cause and also to discuss the correct amount of vitamin D you should be taking daily to support your health. Arrhythmia is a problem with the pacemaker of the heart, a neurological thing that keeps the heart rhythm requires electrolytes. Not having enough electrolyte would create all sorts of abnormal heart rhythm happen in the body. Calcium - it helps contract muscles. Calcium deficiency could cause tetany, muscle twitch and too much calcium could create a rhythm problem with the heart. Vitamin D3 increases the absorption of calcium by 20x in the small intestine and Vitamin K2 helps avoid buildup of too much calcium in the arteries or other soft tissues. Magnesium – Deficient in magnesium could cause leg cramp. Magnesium is involved in relaxation of muscles and it is very important for muscle cramps prevention. 8 Sleeping Habits KILLING Your Gains!

I’m going to show you how 8 popular sleeping habits are possibly interfering with your ability to build muscle and remain injury free. Don’t be embarrassed if you wind up finding out that you are doing at least a few of these. The important thing is that I’m here to help. The first thing that you want to do before you even get into bed is stretch. Now I’m sure you’ve heard that it is not good to do static stretching before working out but do you know why? The reason is twofold. When you stretch before lifting you are interrupting the stored motor patterns that your body has to make movement efficient and memorable. This means, with the new muscle length provided by the stretching your bench press movement will not match up with the one that is stored. This leads to awkward pressing and an increase likelihood of injury. The second thing that occurs is that the increased length disrupts the overlap of muscle fibers and interferes with the strength of contraction. If this happens, you can expect to see a decline in your strength levels and force output at the exact worst time that you would want that to happen, just before your workout. Next, you want to be sure you adjust the sheets at the end of the bed before you even get in it. Why? This is because the tightness of your sheets will directly impact the tightness of your ankles in the long run. When you lay in bed your ankles will be pulled down into plantarflexion because of the sheets that are tucked in to the end of your bed. If you stay in this position for say 8 to 10 hours, you can guarantee that your calves will get tight and your ankle will lose mobility over time. Try squatting with bad ankle mobility and you will quickly see your leg gains go down as you no longer can descend low enough in the squat. The health of your shoulders is paramount to a big upper body. Just ask anyone who has ever injured their shoulder what it meant to their ability to lift and make gains in their chest, arms and back not to mention their delts. The key is to limit the tightness that is likely to happen just by avoiding common but bad sleeping postures. If you lay on your side with your hand under your head, make sure you don’t do this on top of the pillow. You can see instantly how this internally rotates your shoulder and leads to tight posterior shoulder capsules. If you place the hand under the pillow however you can dramatically change the situation and actually help to restore some lost external rotation. The same can happen when you lay on your stomach. Your arms get internally rotated at the shoulder to support your head on the pillow. Even worse however, your low back takes a beating as you compress your lumbar spine and adaptively shorten your lumber paraspinal muscles. This leads to the all too common low back pain. The best way to sleep is either on your back with the sheets loosened at the end of the bed or on your side with your legs straight and a pillow between your knees. Either way, you are minimizing the damage that you are doing to your body for extensive periods of time every night and giving your body a better chance of making pain free gains in the gym. Finally, upon waking make sure you immediately start the rehydration process by drinking two 12-16 ounce glasses of water. You have just gone a long period of time without drinking any water so you will want to get this in you to provide the environment for muscle gains. And of course, never underestimate the value of good sleep. Cortisol will be released by your body the less sleep you get. This will directly counteract the benefits of testosterone and lead to less muscle. Sleep as much as you can.
