I have ADHD and depression. The two are complete opposites. But at the same time contribute much to the other. I hope that I can help others like myself. I hope that we could grow a community where no one judges and looks to help one another rather than put someone down. This is my second video, made at 1 in the morning as my family slept. Please don't mind my quiet voice. Lol A special thanks to Scott Holmes for providing the music! This video discusses by far the worlds most deadliest drug without a question! And few people know this. The worlds most addictive and scariest drug has to do with the person. It's based on genetic predisposition along with psychological impact that a drug has on any given drug addict. There's no one hardest drug for everyone, one man's trash is another's treasure. Commonly meth or heroin are considered the most addictive substances which is a major misconception. Any drug can be a hard drug or your hardest drug, even nicotine. Stimulants can sometimes help a patient with this illness. A proper use of stimulants is when the patient that is already on anti-depressants which are not working 100%. By adding a stimulant, the patient often reaches, or comes closer to, the 100% mark. Ritalin Ritalin (methylphenidate) is usually the first stimulant that a doctor would first prescribe, in immediate-release form, 5 mg pill, one or two times a day. Amphetamines Amphetamines are also used - dexedrine (dextromphetamine), adreol (amphetamine salts) and Vyvanse (another form of dexedrine). These are a little more potent and effective than Retalin. A Word about Addiction and Abuse Donald Cline, who wrote the first textbook on psychopharmacology, mentioned that he had patients who came in to the office, confessing that they have been taking 30 mg samples of amphetamines for a long time. They felt guilty because they had become dependent on them. They were using it as an anti-depressant. Furthermore, they only took only the set amount. They were addicted to it in the sense that they needed the drug to function but they were not abusing the drug by taking more to get high. Therefore, if you are taking a prescribed anti-depressant and your symptoms are not entirely gone, consider requesting one of these stimulants from your doctor. An unbiased view into what makes adderall (vyvanse) and meth both similar and different in their effects and addictive potential. Methamphetamine and adderall are both speed, both can be prescribed by a doctor but more frequently adderall or vyvanse are prescribed for ADD/ADHD medication. Adderall addiction is a very real threat and something to be treated serious; However, meth addiction tends to be more demonized with references like "the devils drug" or "the meth lie". In this video I hope to give a clear depiction of adderall vs meth in their effects, they're both speed but there are differences between smoking methamphetamine and ingesting adderall that need to be outlined. Crystal meth isn't as different as most would think. Who Doesn't Want To Feel Good? To get more "feel good" in your day, increase your dopamine! In the brain, dopamine functions as a neurotransmitter - a chemical messenger released by neurons (nerve cells) to send signals to other nerve cells. The brain includes several distinct dopamine pathways, one of which plays a major role in reward-motivated behavior. Dopamine itself is used as precursor in the synthesis of the neurotransmitters (and hormones) norepinephrine and epinephrine. Deficiency in any required amino acid or cofactor can impair the synthesis of dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, leading to the symptoms of dopamine deficiency listed below. What happens when you are deficient in dopamine or any other hormone? Hormone deficiencies are easily seen in our day to day lives. The list is long and mainly specific to each part of the endocrine system, but most symptoms revolve around weight gain, fatigue, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction and heart disease. Because hormones play a crucial role in all bodily functions, we are not performing at our best unless they are at optimum levels. When a person is deficient in dopamine, they often experience the following common symptoms: • Fatigue • Low mood • Grumpy and irritable • Unfocused • Trouble staying on task • Lack of motivation • Low overall sense of well being If any of these symptoms sound familiar, it's because most of us have had them at one point in time or still experience them every day. For most people this feeling is often felt in the morning when we first wake up. Once we have breakfast and some form of stimulant (sugar, coffee, and juice) our mood brightens up and we feel like we can take on the day ahead. For some, a dopamine release is not easily achieved without medication. Many individuals with ADHD respond well to stimulants such as amphetamines or caffeine. Others with mild or seasonal depression take antidepressants like Wellbutrin, an NDRI (Norepinephrine Dopamine Reuptake Inhibitor) to help raise levels of dopamine. Many people find the reward center of the brain is activated with addicting behaviors or substances. Depending on the method used to increase dopamine, you can be helping or harming your body in both the short and long term. To live a long and prosperous life, the best thing you can do is become educated in the ways to naturally restore your vitality and optimize your physical body. If you want to naturally raise levels of dopamine, here are some tips and things you can do: • Get regular exercise. This releases both endorphins and dopamine. • Your favorite music often brings back happy memories. • Supplements: Selenium, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Fish oil, Omega-3s, Tyrosine. • Good nutrition; specifically brain building foods that contain fatty acids like Avocados. • SEX! Yes, a little time between the sheets with your significant other is a sure way to increase dopamine! Methamphetamine is a widely used stimulant in the amphetamine class. It was synthesized in 1893, but it didn't become popular until around the 1930s. Since then, it has been used in both medical and recreational settings. It's a euphoric and clearly recreational drug, though it can provide more "productive" stimulation at low-common doses. Most of its harms have been exaggerated. However, neurotoxicity is a concern with heavy use, psychosis can arise, and it can even be fatal when not taken in a careful manner. U.S. combat troops are taking daily doses of antidepressants to calm nerves strained by repeated and lengthy tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. The medicines are intended not only to help troops keep their cool but also to enable the already strapped Army to preserve its most precious resource: soldiers on the front lines. Data contained in the Army's fifth Mental Health Advisory Team report indicate that, according to an anonymous survey of U.S. troops taken last fall, about 12% of combat troops in Iraq and 17% of those in Afghanistan are taking prescription antidepressants or sleeping pills to help them cope. Escalating violence in Afghanistan and the more isolated mission have driven troops to rely more on medication there than in Iraq, military officials say. At a Pentagon that keeps statistics on just about everything, there is no central clearinghouse for this kind of data, and the Army hasn't consistently asked about prescription-drug use, which makes it difficult to track. Given the traditional stigma associated with soldiers seeking mental help, the survey, released in March, probably underestimates antidepressant use. But if the Army numbers reflect those of other services — the Army has by far the most troops deployed to the war zones — about 20,000 troops in Afghanistan and Iraq were on such medications last fall. The Army estimates that authorized drug use splits roughly fifty-fifty between troops taking antidepressants — largely the class of drugs that includes Prozac and Zoloft — and those taking prescription sleeping pills like Ambien. In some ways, the prescriptions may seem unremarkable. Generals, history shows, have plied their troops with medicinal palliatives at least since George Washington ordered rum rations at Valley Forge. During World War II, the Nazis fueled their blitzkrieg into France and Poland with the help of an amphetamine known as Pervitin. The U.S. Army also used amphetamines during the Vietnam War. The increase in the use of medication among U.S. troops suggests the heavy mental and psychological price being paid by soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pentagon surveys show that while all soldiers deployed to a war zone will feel stressed, 70% will manage to bounce back to normalcy. But about 20% will suffer from what the military calls "temporary stress injuries," and 10% will be afflicted with "stress illnesses." Such ailments, according to briefings commanders get before deploying, begin with mild anxiety and irritability, difficulty sleeping, and growing feelings of apathy and pessimism. As the condition worsens, the feelings last longer and can come to include panic, rage, uncontrolled shaking and temporary paralysis. The symptoms often continue back home, playing a key role in broken marriages, suicides and psychiatric breakdowns. The mental trauma has become so common that the Pentagon may expand the list of "qualifying wounds" for a Purple Heart — historically limited to those physically injured on the battlefield — to include posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on May 2 that it's "clearly something" that needs to be considered, and the Pentagon is weighing the change. Which means that any drug that keeps a soldier deployed and fighting also saves money on training and deploying replacements. But there is a downside: the number of soldiers requiring long-term mental-health services soars with repeated deployments and lengthy combat tours. If troops do not get sufficient time away from combat — both while in theater and during the "dwell time" at home before they go back to war — it's possible that antidepressants and sleeping aids will be used to stretch an already taut force even tighter. "This is what happens when you try to fight a long war with an army that wasn't designed for a long war," says Lawrence Korb, Pentagon personnel chief during the Reagan Administration. http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1811858,00.html

To see the connection between brain science and common sense: evidence matters. So many forget that reality does change, and that the body is, in fact, connected to the mind! Imagine that. Basic metabolic, body-related imbalances often have far reaching effects that encourage *unpredictable outcomes* with medication management. Just think about this point: How many with ADHD are treated with stimulant meds - without paying attention to the specific attention related targets? The short answer: Far too many. My point on this: Many are treated for thinking problems - without specific thinking about the thinking process. How can anyone get the meds right without precise targets? 4-Fluoroamphetamine is a substituted amphetamine that offers effects somewhere between those of amphetamine and MDMA. It's been a member of the research chemical market since the late 2000s. It has at times been a more popular research chemical because it does have a unique and potentially desirable effect profile. Not enough is known about the drug to be sure about its safety level, particularly with chronic use.
