Cholesterol (Part 4): Bad Cholesterol (LDL) is NOT Bad!

Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. PART 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOuWC... PART 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FObb4... PART 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSORg... LDL is not cholesterol, Low density lipoprotein is a protein that shuttles cholesterol and triglycerides. LDL is the carrier that transports cholesterol from the liver to the vessels and cells and HDL transports the cholesterol from the arteries back to the liver. The body makes 3000 mg of cholesterol. Why? 1. Makes cell membranes 2. Antioxidant properties 3. Anti-inflammatory properties 4. Makes vitamin D 5. Helps you make bile thus extracting fat soluble vitamins 6. Makes cortisol 7. Makes sex hormones (testosterone, estrogen, etc. AND 8. Helps the body respond to crisis (infection) 9. It binds and inactivates bacterial toxins 10. Helps inhibit the damage from microbes 11. Acts as a band-aid to help in the healing of the endothelium layer. There are 2 types of LDL. Type A (large buoyant) *normal, not involved in damage repair. *last 2 days in the body Type B (small dense) *because these are small, they can enter the damaged wall of the artery and are involved in the clotting and plaquing. *last 5 days Look at your triglycerides - if they are high and your HDL is low, then you have more type B LDL. But if your triglycerids are low and high HDL, then you have type a. Saturated fats will increase type A and sugars will increase type B. LOW CARB, HIGH DIET DIETS CAN SWITCH YOUR TYPE B TO TYPE A. Why would someone have too much LDL pattern B 1. Sugar 2. Cortisol 3. Vegetable oil (soy and corn) 4. Trans fats (hydrogenated fats) 5. Low vitamin C 6. Glycation (adding glucose/fructose with protein and fat): donuts, fries, carmelization, dark soda. Fructose cause 10X more glycation. 7. Surgery 8. Visceral fat High levels LDL should be understood rather than merely lowered. Find the the real deeper cause. DR. The Mr. Fit study and the Framingham Heart Study are often misunderstood in a way because these studies simply took cholesterol across different standard deviation or bell curves. They found that one's likelihood of experiencing a heart attack or developing a heart disease didn't even increase until about 320 or above in regards to cholesterol. Moreover, the studies also show that those who have low cholesterol have an increased chance of developing cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. So how can you keep your cholesterol levels balanced? What are the real causes of high cholesterol? Cholesterol and Heart Disease: Should You Worry About High LDL Levels? - Thomas DeLauer

Thomas DeLauer is not a doctor and his information should not be misconstrued as medical advice. Cholesterol and Heart Disease: Should You Worry About High LDL Levels? - Thomas DeLauer… LDL cholesterol is not the bad culprit that is leading to your heart disease. Don't listen to all the mainstream stuff out there that tells you if your cholesterol levels are high that you are inevitably going to end up with heart disease. Here's the thing: it literally comes down to something known as oxidized LDL. It's not LDL. It's the process in which inflammation envelops LDL. If you listen to this video and you understand what I say, I promise you that you can start finding a way to still eat the higher fat foods that you need without worrying about having cholesterol give you a heart attack. Pay attention to how this actually works within the body. LDL is needed first of all. It's not the bad cholesterol. It's only bad when it's oxidized. LDL cholesterol delivers what we need to the cell. LDL is the cholesterol that is heading to the cell to be utilized. HDL cholesterol, or good cholesterol, scavenges excess cholesterol and brings it back to the liver, so it's gotten a good name because it goes ahead and it picks up bad cholesterol that's laying around. The reality is they're both good. We need both of them. LDL becomes bad when it becomes oxidized. If you've ever heard of oxidative stress, well, that's just the thing. Have you ever heard of an antioxidant? We talk about them all the time. They're marketed all the time. Antioxidants get rid of oxidation or oxidative stress or free radicals within the body. It's only when a free radical combines with LDL that we have a problem. Here's how it works. When you have LDL, that cholesterol is going to do a specific job. A cell has a receptor where that LDL goes into the receptor and does its job within the cell. Now, what happens is that LDL can react with a free radical. Let's say you have a toxin that's in your body because you've been eating a lot of sugar. Those free radicals float through your bloodstream, and they hit the LDL. It causes a chemical reaction that causes that LDL to swell up. It causes it to swell up because it triggers white blood cells and macrophages to attract to it. Now, you've got this LDL that's no longer a nice, clean LDL. It's now a foamy, spongy, soft LDL that's been exceptionally sticky. What happens? They aggregate. All of those LDL cells that are now sticky, that aggregate and they continue to pile on until they are just a smorgasbord of LDL cells that are not functioning properly. They are sticky, they are foamy, and they are oxidized. Then they stick to your arterial wall, but guess what? It's not the sticking to the arterial wall that's really even the bad thing. What happens is they actually enter through the endothelial layer of your artery, which means it actually enters into the cell. Enter into the actual wall of the artery. Then, when that happens, it triggers more inflammation because now the endothelial cells are like, "Whoa. What's this invader doing?" You have more inflammation that goes to the cells, so now not only do you have a plaque of sticky, foamy, oxidized LDL, but you have an arterial wall that is swollen with an inflammatory response. Your arterial wall went from this to this, but it gets worse. Now that you have this oxidized LDL, it actually inhibits the production of nitric oxide. That inhibition of nitric oxide means that you no longer have nitric oxide to allow those endothelial cells to relax and allow the vasodilation or the relaxation of the blood vessel. Five Cholesterol Myths | All About Cholesterol

07:51
Hello! My Tribe, You knew there was a bit of an over-emphasis (border lining obsession) about cholesterol, right? Before we jump into some myths let's make sure we're on the same page when it comes to what exactly cholesterol is. Myth #1: “Cholesterol” is cholesterol While cholesterol is an actual molecule what it is bound to while it's floating through your blood is what's more important than just how much of it there is overall. In fact depending on what it's combined with can have opposite effects on your arteries and heart. Yes, opposite! So cholesterol is just one component of a compound that floats around your blood. These compounds contain cholesterol as well as fats and special proteins called “lipoproteins”. They're grouped into two main categories: ● HDL: High Density Lipoprotein (AKA “good” cholesterol) that “cleans up” some of those infamous “arterial plaques” and transports cholesterol back to the liver. ● LDL: Low Density Lipoprotein (AKA “bad” cholesterol) that transports cholesterol from the liver (and is the kind found to accumulate in arteries and become easily oxidized hence their “badness”). And yes, it's even more complicated than this. Each of these categories is further broken down into subcategories which can also be measured in a blood test. So “cholesterol” isn't simply cholesterol because it has very different effects on your body depending on which other molecules it's bound to in your blood and what it is actually doing there. Myth #2: Cholesterol is bad Cholesterol is absolutely necessary for your body to produce critical things like vitamin D when your skin is exposed to the sun, your sex hormones (e.g. estrogen and testosterone), as well as bile to help you absorb dietary fats. Not to mention that it's incorporated into the membranes of your cells. Talk about an important molecule! The overall amount of cholesterol in your blood (AKA “total cholesterol”) isn't nearly as important as how much of each kind you have in your blood. While way too much LDL cholesterol as compared with HDL (the LDL:HDL ratio) may be associated with an increased risk of heart disease it is absolutely not the only thing to consider for heart health. Myth #3: Eating cholesterol increases your bad cholesterol Most of the cholesterol in your blood is made by your liver. It's actually not from the cholesterol you eat. Why do you think cholesterol medications block an enzyme in your liver (HMG Co-A reductase, to be exact)? 'Cause that's where it's made! What you eat still can affect how much cholesterol your liver produces. After a cholesterol-rich meal your liver doesn't need to make as much. Myth #4: Your cholesterol should be as low as possible As with almost everything in health and wellness there's a balance that needs to be maintained. There are very few extremes that are going to serve you well. People with too-low levels of cholesterol have increased risk of death from other non-heart-related issues like certain types of cancers, as well as suicide. Myth #5: Drugs are the only way to get a good cholesterol balance Don't start or stop any medications without talking with your doctor. And while drugs can certainly lower the “bad” LDL cholesterol they don't seem to be able to raise the “good” HDL cholesterol all that well. Guess what does? Nutrition and exercise! One of the most impactful ways to lower your cholesterol with diet is to eat lots of fruits and veggies. I mean lots, say up to 10 servings a day. You can (should?) also exercise, lose weight, stop smoking, and eat better quality fats. That means fatty fish, avocados and olive oil. Ditch those over-processed hydrogenated “trans” fats. Hope you liked this video and found it informative, share with freinds and family if you think it can help them too. Comment below, always waiting to here from you. Why Cholesterol Can Go High on a Ketogenic Diet

02:10
Tell Me Your Success with Before & After Images: https://bit.ly/2O9C0HT Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about cholesterol being high on a ketogenic diet. This is an oversimplified talk and for more detailed data - see the video on LDL. However, as your fat cells shrink, the fat cell not only releases triglycerides, but cholesterol too. Many people do not know the fat cells are filled with both. The excess cholesterol needs to either be eliminated through the liver and gallbladder (bile) or be recycled. This is all a normal process on ketosis. Hey guys, I want to talk about what will happen if your cholesterol went high on a ketogenic diet. The first thing you should know is that when you lose weight, the fat cells actually shrink. They won’t go away completely, you can’t get rid of the fat cells but you can shrink it. Second thing you need to know is inside that fat cell you have, triglycerides and cholesterol. A lot of people don’t realize that cholesterol is also stored in the fat cells. As the fat cell shrinks, you can burn triglycerides for fuel but you cannot burn cholesterol, it is not a fuel source. It is going to be eliminated to the body as you lose weight. As the fat cell is squeezed, the cholesterol is going to increase in the blood and is going to go in the liver and comes out to the bile. As long as your liver is healthy and you’re eating a lot of vegetables, and you have enough bile, you are totally fine even if your LDL is fine. The key thing is to make sure that your triglycerides are low because if you are not using your triglycerides as a fuel then there is a problem, you are probably eating too much sugar but when you are in ketogenic diet and you are doing it correctly and your triglycerides are low and your HDL and LDL is high, all that means is that you are burning more LDL and there is no bad effects that are going to happen, just keep your vegetables high and as you keep closer to your weight loss goal, that will level out and come back normal. Heart Disease = High Cholesterol: Just A Myth

18:41
http://humanhealthlink.com/heart-disease-high-cholesterol-just-a-myth/ Heart Disease = High Cholesterol: Just A Myth I'd like to thank Dr. Jon Bowden for suggestions in another video for the methods for good heart health (not for lowering cholesterol). I'd also like to thank Andrew Cheika for commenting and subscribing to our channel. This is going to be short and sweet, so don't blink or you might miss this... Most of us believe high cholesterol = heart disease. Nothing could be further from the truth. We now know that high cholesterol leads to INCREASED survival rates, while using government-issue, prescribed, blood-pressure-lowering medication in the United States leads to INCREASED death rates! Scary to think the very medication we use to help blood pressure are the very ones that will kill us. Good sh*t. Why Cholesterol May Not Be the Cause of Heart Disease with Dr. Aseem Malhotra

01:01:33
Cholesterol has become so confusing. The reality is, most of us have little understanding about the cholesterol levels in our blood and the whole topic is much more complicated than we previously thought. Many people still believe that eating cholesterol and fat, especially saturated fat, causes heart attacks and that taking statin drugs provides a powerful way to reduce your risk of heart attacks. But is this really true? My guest on this week’s episode of The Doctor’s Farmacy is here to bust the cholesterol myth, and he is a cardiologist! Described as an inspiration by Jamie Oliver, internationally renowned Consultant Cardiologist and best-selling author of The Pioppi Diet, Dr. Aseem Malhotra has become one of the most influential and well-known health campaigners, and a pioneer of the lifestyle medicine movement in the UK. Today we talk about myths around heart health, and what it truly means to be heart healthy. -- Dr. Hyman is an 11-time New York Times bestselling author, family physician and international leader in the field of Functional Medicine. His podcast, The Doctor's Farmacy, is a place for deep conversations about the critical issues of our time in the space of health, wellness, food and politics. Why Cholesterol Spikes on a Low Fat & Cholesterol Diet

Dr. Berg's New Book: https://bit.ly/2JWlgCR Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY Dr. Berg talks about why cholesterol can go up on a low fat and cholesterol diet. Your body makes cholesterol, a lot. It bakes 3000 mg per day. When you give it less it makes more. The key is to understand cholesterol. If it's so dangerous, then why does the body make it? Cholesterol has a purpose of providing raw material for hormones, nerve and brain tissue, to make cell membranes, and also to provide a bandaid against damage in the body, esp. your arteries. It may be at the crime scene, but its not the criminal. In fact, there are way more damage to the body on low cholesterol than high. CHECK THIS OUT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRnmz... The Cholesterol Myth: Heart of the Matter (Part 1)

28:31
In October 2013, Catalyst aired Heart of the Matter – a two part program dealing with statins, cholesterol and heart disease. Following a number of complaints, the ABC’s independent Audience and Consumer Affairs Unit investigated the programs. While acknowledging the importance of public health issues relating to the efficacy of heart disease treatment and the contrasting opinions of highly-qualified scientists, the A&CA has concluded that while both programs met the ABC’s editorial standards for accuracy, a section of part two was found to breach impartiality standards. The full investigation report can be viewed here http://about.abc.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Catalyst-Heart-of-the-Matter-ACA-Investigation-Report.pdf. Please note: As was emphasised in the Heart of the Matter program, viewers should not make any changes to their prescribed regimen of medications without seeking appropriate medical advice

Atkins Diet and Cholesterol: Facts and myths

09:17
* First my apologies that Pinnacle Studios screwed up the audio - video sync at the end (7:40). I tried redoing the video three times, but the same out of sync happened each time.* In this video, I deal with another one of the myths that Atkins Diet increases one's cholesterol level due to its saturated fats. This misconception has been proven false over and over in many different studies. At very least, here is my anecdotal evidence. My Cholesterol (Starting to Now) Total Cholesterol - 198 to 153 LDL Cholesterol - 148 to 95 HDL Cholesterol - 35 to 58 Triglycerides - 135 to 43 What's Good and Bad? http://cholesterol.emedtv.com/hdl/hdl-ldl-ratio.html "It is the ratio between the level of HDL-"good" cholesterol and total cholesterol that we need to be concerned about. Therefore, in adults, the HDL-"good" cholesterol/total cholesterol ratio should be higher than 0.24 (just divide your HDL level by your cholesterol). Generally speaking, the higher the ratio, the better (the lower your risk of a heart attack)." Mine - .61 This popular medical belief ignores however that all LDL molecules are not necessarily created equal. "It appears common for people with high triglycerides to have low HDL's, and these same people also tend to have high levels of clotting factors in their blood stream, which is unhealthy in protecting against heart disease. Therefore, in adults, the triglyceride/HDL-"good" cholesterol ratio should be below 2 (just divide your triglycerides level by your HDL). Or more precisely, the triglyceride/HDL ratio: 2 or less is considered ideal 4 - high 6 - much too high" Mine - .74 It is now believed that the triglycerides/HDL ratio is one of the most potent predictors of heart disease. A Harvard-lead study author reported: "High triglycerides alone increased the risk of heart attack nearly three-fold. And people with the highest ratio of triglycerides to HDL -- the "good" cholesterol -- had 16 times the risk of heart attack as those with the lowest ratio of triglycerides to HDL in the study of 340 heart attack patients and 340 of their healthy, same age counterparts. The ratio of triglycerides to HDL was the strongest predictor of a heart attack, even more accurate than the LDL/HDL ratio. (Circulation 1997;96:2520-2525)." Other Studies, which prove to healthy nature of Atkins or Low Carb in respect to heart health: * Weight Loss with a Low-Carbohydrate, Mediterranean, or Low-Fat Diet http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12106620 "The low-carbohydrate group consumed the smallest amount of carbohydrates and the largest amounts of fat, protein. ... The mean weight loss was 2.9 kg for the low-fat group, and 4.7 kg for the low-carbohydrate group. ... The relative reduction in the ratio of total cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol was 20% in the low-carbohydrate group and 12% in the low-fat group" * Effect of 6-month adherence to a very low carbohydrate diet program. Am J Med. 2002 Jul;113(1):30-6. "Serum total cholesterol level decreased 11 +/- 26 mg/dL, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level decreased 10 +/- 25 mg/dL, triglyceride level decreased 56 +/- 45 mg/dL, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol level increased 10 +/- 8 mg/dL, and the cholesterol/HDL cholesterol ratio decreased 0.9 +/- 0.6 units." * Comparison of high-fat and high-protein diets with a high-carbohydrate diet in insulin-resistant obese women. Diabetologia, 2005 (Vol. 48) (No. 1) 8-16 These observations suggest that the popular diets reduced insulin resistance to a greater extent than the standard dietary advice did. When compared with the HC diet, the HF and HP diets were shown to produce significantly greater reductions in several parameters, including weight loss, waist circumference and triglycerides. LDL cholesterol decreased in individuals on the HC and HP diets.Of those on the HF diet, 25% showed a more than 10% increase in LDL cholesterol, whereas this occurred in only 13% of subjects on the HC diet and 3% of those on the HP diet. ** Like the Atkins Diet Videos Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/AtkinsDietVideos/ ** Support my Patreon Site: https://www.patreon.com/AtkinsDietVideos ** Visit my Website: http://www.atkinsdietgeek.com ** Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kentaltena/ ** Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/kent.altena Please join me for my continued weight loss journey and subscribe to my channel. Is LDL really bad cholesterol? The answer is no and yes. Normally LDL cholesterol is anti-inflammatory. The same holds true for HDL cholesterol. But then we overeat sugar, flour, and trans fats, and develop metabolic syndrome and then BOTH LDL and HDL cholesterol become inflamed and "bad."

LLVLC On YouTube: The Heart Health Myth Of LDL And Total Cholesterol (Episode 69)

http://LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com/blog blogger Jimmy Moore and his wife Christine are tired of the lies being told by the pharmaceutical companies connecting heart health with cholesterol levels and share the truth with you today in the latest installment of their popular "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb on YouTube" series. In Episode 69, Jimmy and Christine take a look at this myth that having high LDL and total cholesterol will lead to heart disease, heart attacks and death. This needless scare mongering is not grounded in scientific evidence which points more to the ratio between HDL and triglycerides as a key indicator of heart health risks: http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/?p=1532 The LDL particle size is what is most important when you are measuring your lipid panel, so having one of the two major particle size tests done is critical. The VAP Cholesterol Test can be found at http://www.atherotech.com and the NMR LipoProfile test (which Jimmy HIGHLY recommends!) is at http://nmrlipoprofile.com Get your doctor to run one of these tests to know if your LDL particles are the large, fluffy, protective kind or the small, dense, dangerous ones you want to avoid. Here's a blog post Jimmy wrote about his 326 total cholesterol: http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/?p=2381 Keep watching "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube" and send us your comments and questions at livinlowcarbman@charter.net anytime. 💗 Dr. Reveals The REAL Cause of High Cholesterol

05:55
Discover the REAL cause of high cholesterol and a simple formula my parent’s have used since 1999 to lower their cholesterol naturally. 💗 http://drsam.co/yt/NoMoreCholesterol You can also watch this video on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYFY4Vl19Fo Refferences: 1. https://www.lowestmed.com/top-50-prescription-drugs-filled/ 2. https://www.cdc.gov/dhdsp/data_statistics/fact_sheets/fs_heart_disease.htm ======================================= 💗 Dr. Reveals The REAL Cause of High Cholesterol ======================================= Did you know that the #1 drug prescribed in America this year was a statin drug for lowering cholesterol?1 In fact, in the top 10 most often prescribed drugs, TWO of them were cholesterol lowering.1 Additionally, for the past 20+ years, these cholesterol lowering statins have been the most often prescribed drugs and biggest money makers! Yet, the rate of heart disease has NOT gone down in the past 2 decades. In fact, it keeps going higher and higher.2 And the older you are, the worst the statistics are.2 And this includes both men AND women! So the question is: Why are things only getting worse, when more and more people are taking these “cholesterol lower drugs”? Why aren’t these drugs working to save lives? What’s the REAL cause of high cholesterol and can you fix it, naturally? So to make a long story short, back in 1998 both my parents were prescribed these toxic, statin drugs. During that year they felt so horrible with all the side-effects… so I got them off the drugs and really pushed a natural lifestyle. They were already eating well, but I turned it up a notch and got super strict. My dad has always exercised, but I increased it with him and added it with my mom. The good news is that there cholesterol levels did improve, but not by much. And that’s when their doctors said “see, you need to get back on the drugs”. But I refused! I had to find a solution And I mention this story because if you’ve had similar challenges yourself and haven’t gotten the results you were hoping for and you’re confused or frustrated - you’re not alone. In fact, this is typical … And what I discovered during the next few months when researching this topic, because I was new to it back then,... Is that the REAL cause of high cholesterol is the negative change in your hormones, due to aging. It happens to women almost instantly, because of menopause… While more gradually with men. And this explains why young people in their teens and 20’s …. eat junk, don’t rest enough or even exercise and yet, their cholesterol levels are still healthy … This is because they have good hormone levels, which quickly helps eliminate excess cholesterol and more importantly, repairs your organs and blood vessels. But don’t worry, or lose hope and think you can’t fix this because you’re getting older …I’ll show you in a minute that you can easily and quickly fix your cholesterol problems, naturally … without drugs, restrictive diets or crazy exercise programs. So keep watching… The “High Cholesterol” Myth However, the other problem with these cholesterol lowering drugs is that they only focus on “lowering cholesterol”. You don’t want that. Cholesterol has many benefits. Low cholesterol can be just as bad as high. Low cholesterol causes depression, low sex drive and earlier death. What you want to do is improve all of your lipids and the ratios. This includes having HEALTHY cholesterol levels (not low or high) Optimized HDL/LDL ratios Lower fatty Triglycerides Improved Homocysteine levels. etc. Blame It On Your Liver The next problem with aging is that our livers aren’t as strong as they used to be. Getting older, taking prescription drugs, alcohol, toxicity in our foods and so forth, all make the liver and kidneys weaker. And most people don’t know, but 80% of your cholesterol is made IN your liver!... it’s NOT from the foods you eat. This is why diet changes don’t usually make a big improvement. The problem is INTERNAL! So in addition to improving your lipid levels and ratios, you ALSO want to also detox, cleanse, repair and strengthen your liver. Here’s How To Fix Things As I learned more and more, I started implementing all of these changes with my parents. I basically gave them specific nutrients that an “aging” and “mature” body needs, so it can help heal itself from within … naturally! Remember, your body is a self cleaning and self healing organism … IF you give it what it requires! ======================================== Thank you for watching. The good cholestrol (HDL) from the egg yolk acts as a natural band aid (for the body to heal itself) and supports hormones. Egg yolk has much more nutrition (vitamins and minerals) than the egg whites. Egg yolks could be considered a great multivitamin mineral supplement- esp. the fat soluble vitamins and essential fatty acids. DR.
