Tax Help MD, The Tax Doctor explains the IRS Program: Streamlined Installment Agreements. At Tax Help MD, we've helped many hardworking American taxpayers just like you. The Partial Payment Installment Agreement (PPIA), unveiled in 2005, is the most recent tax debt reduction plan offered by the IRS. Commonly referred to as a “hybrid” plan, this tax debt reduction program takes into consideration the remaining amount of time left under the Statute of Limitations applicable to a particular tax debt (typically, the IRS can only attempt to collect for 10 years) and the elements used to calculate an Installment Agreement amount through the Form 433-F Financial Statement. The amounts of money saved through this program can be as dramatic as the “pennies on the dollar” Offer in Compromise settlement and can be accomplished without the voluminous amount of information and detail required in an Offer in Compromise application. This program takes into consideration the remaining amount of time for the IRS to collect on a back tax debt and allows the taxpayer to pay a reduced monthly amount during the remaining period of time before expiration of the 10 year Statute of Limitations. If you're not able to pay your tax bill in full or have past due taxes you can set up an arrangement to pay off your tax debt over time in manageable periodic payments. In an effort to assist taxpayers that were hit hard by the economic downturn, the IRS started a fresh start program and has made changes to the terms of their payment plans to make it easier for a taxpayer that owes past due tax to qualify. http://getllg.com/contact-the-lizotte-law-group.html

Part 4: IRS Fresh Start Program Installment Agreements The old IRS Installment Agreement guidelines said that anyone who owed less than $25,000 had the same set of expectations. Not only was there no need to file financial documents to enter into an installment agreement, but after a few years of paying approximately $500 a month, you could be shaking the IRS off your back. Well, with the advent of the IRS Fresh Start Program, those parameters have expanded a little. Effective immediately, the threshold for installment agreements is bumped up to $50,000. This means that anyone who owes less than $50,000 also has the benefit of not having to file time-intensive documents and -- depending on financial situation -- can even ask to extend their five-year payment window to six years.. In reality, those guideline changes are pretty nice for some people. The ability to filter out financial documentation can be a huge time-saver, and anything to take a bit of the stress off the backs of people with tax problems is always a positive in my book. That being said, be careful. It’s of the utmost importance to understand that the IRS is not your friend and they are not looking out for your best interests. I’ve seen it happen far too many times that taxpayers are baited into borrowing enough money to break that $50,000 threshold and enter into an installment agreement only to find that they don’t have the funds to avoid defaulting on a payment. The minute you default, you lose your bargaining chips with the IRS. Please be careful. The IRS Fresh Start Program has some guidelines that can be of a great benefit and save time for taxpayers. That’s great. But, it’s still an IRS program and anything the IRS says or does should be taken with a grain of salt. In fact, installment agreements are very common type of tax relief and the IRS prefers that taxpayers establish a formal agreement to pay their taxes back, on a regular basis, as opposed to simply demanding you to pay back a debt immediately that you may not be able to afford. In fact, it is rather common for skilled tax professionals to suggest that their clients submit an installment agreement plan during tax time if they know their clients cannot repay the debt immediately to avoid starting serious problems with the IRS (there for needing tax relief). http://irstaxreliefnow.org/irs-installment-agreements/

"Okay, that was going to be my next question. With interest and penalties. What is the interest? Does it vary? Is it a set amount?" "There is a set amount of interest per month per payment. And there is an installment agreement fee that you have to pay just to get set up into an installment agreement of $120. And the interest gets spread out over 72 months. So you are paying six years of interest on a debt liability from may be that stems from one or two years of liability. It’s not a good plan. And the IRS wants taxpayers to go into that plan because obviously it’s very profitable for the IRS to get people into installment agreements." http://attorneystaxrelief.com

http://taxhelpmobile.com/irs-installment-agreement-mobile-tax-help-making-payments-to-the-irs/ Mobile: Should You Consider An Installment Agreement as a Solution to Your IRS Tax Problem? You have several options for dealing with a tax problem with the IRS. An Installment Agreement is one of them. An installment agreement is just what it sounds like...you agree to pay your tax debt to the IRS in a monthly payment plan. There are some restrictions on installment agreements, but many times this is a good option for both businesses and individuals who owe taxes to the government. There is a downside though. If you owe a lot in taxes, the required payments on the installment plan can often be quite high, and can interfere with paying your monthly bills. In addition, you may still be subject to interest and penalties on the debt that you owe. The good news is: it is possible to negotiate lower payments with the IRS. To determine if this option is right for you, and to discover other strategies on how you can break free from the IRS and reclaim your life, go to: www.taxhelpmobile.com or call toll free 1.855.EZ.IRSHelp. IRS Payment Plan -- Your Guide To Set Up An IRS Tax Payment Plan By Houston TX CPA Jim Trippon, on the web at http://www.cpahoustontx.com/learning-center/articles/irs-payment-plans-setting-up-a-irs-tax-payment-plan IRS Payment Plans are an area my CPA firm in Houston TX gets questions about all the time. If you owe the IRS money and cannot pay it in single lump sum, an IRS payment plan may be your only hope to avoid very serious consequences with the IRS such as asset seizures, bank and wage levies and federal tax liens. Our CPA Firm works with taxpayers not only in Houston, but also nationwide to negotiate favorable IRS payment plans. Here is the truth about how IRS Payment plans really work If you currently owe tax debts to the IRS, payment plans are available. The primary payment plans offered to both individual taxpayers and businesses are installment plans or offers to compromise. While both options offer advantages to the taxpayer, most tax professionals will attempt to reach an agreement in terms of a partial payment installment plan as it is less time consuming and often easier to achieve than an offer to compromise. A partial payment installment plan involves the individual taxpayer making monthly payments to the IRS for the purpose of repaying their tax debts. The payments do not constitute the entire tax debt owed, as once the individual completes their payment plan, the remainder of the tax debt will be forgiven by the IRS. This repayment option is available to both individuals and businesses If the tax debt is less than $25,000, a 60 month repayment plan option may be an option, also referred to as a small dollar repayment plan. If the individual tax payer opts to attempt to reach an Offer to Compromise, less than the original tax debt owed will be repaid by the taxpayer. This option is generally more aggressive in reducing the taxpayer's overall debt, but more time consuming and difficult to receive agreement on with the IRS. For more information about IRS payment plan options or for assistance in negotiating with the IRS in regard to your current IRS tax debt, call to speak with one of our tax professionals. You said before that there was different avenues, right? The non-collectible, the offer in compromise and a third one. Offer in compromise and – And then the installment agreement. The installment agreement is the third one. People that go into an installment agreement are people that have significant disposable income, have assets that the IRS wants to take to pay the offer, things of that nature. But the IRS affords the opportunity to go into an installment agreement which is a repayment plan of your entire debt. So let me remind you, this isn’t an offer in compromise. The debt is not getting reduced. This isn’t currently non-collectible because they are not setting aside the debt. This is an installment agreement where you are paying back the whole amount of liability that you owe the IRS over a 72 month period with interest. http://attorneystaxrelief.com

If you don't have the assets to pay your taxes but you have some ability to make payments then you can enter into an Offer In Compromise (OIC). There is a booklet you can find on the internet called the 656 Booklet. It requires you to fill out several forms and under this program the IRS will compromise on the amount you owe. If you have trouble paying your taxes this can be a very attractive alternative to bankruptcy. The Law Offices of Givner & Kaye, APC. (310) 207-8008
