Film Funding: Investors and Sponsors

04:55
Finding funding for your film is incredibly challenging. The investors or sponsors only want you if have the skills and potential of making their investment back with big or at least some returns. Before the Pitch: Screenplay Film's Business Plan Distribution/Marketing Plan Private Investing- This is an investor, investment board or your friend's rich uncle. These investors are looking to earn a return on their investment; breaking even is NOT good in their mind. If they have Exec. Producer experience, listen to their advice. Make your expectations completely clear and make sure they have been completely clear. A mutual understanding of the terms is imperative. Sponsorship- Similar to private money, but instead of a return or dividend, they are looking for marketing, exposure, and branding. What gets complicated is when your film may tread on some controversial topics that don't align with your sponsor. They could pull their funding or sponsorship overall if they feel that their brand is at risk. It sucks but it happens. Funding is bittersweet: Your movie is funded...but you have to be ever-so careful with someone else's money. Scary AF. Make expectations clear Get it in writing Walk away from the deal if pressured or the terms are one-sided ----- "Galaxy Racer" by AKIRA Website- http://akira1942.bandcamp.com/ Soundcloud- https://soundcloud.com/akira-42 We're on Snapchat- @Valley_Films Don't forget Instagram- http://instagram.com/valleyfilms Your Film, A Playground- http://podcast.valleyfilms.co

How to Make Millions in Indie Film VoD & Biz Plan, eBook, indiegogo

02:17
The Krauss Report: VoD secrets for indie film distribution & a biz plan Want A Business Plan That Could Make You Millions Of Dollars In Film? Want To Become a Movie Studio Head? Want To Produce 5 Films A Year? Want To Know The VoD Secrets To Selling Your Indie Film? Hello I'm author Patrick Krauss, I Spent over 6 months researching this information everywhere online possible. I’ve listened to countless hours of panel discussions and interviews from experts. I’ve scoured for data on how to make money from Zero-Budget feature films. And now I organized and referenced my info to help make you rich and successful. I discovered for the Price of 1 low budget Film ($150K to $300K) you can make safe investments and run a studio making 3-5 feature films per year!!!!!!! Safe Investing Gear Equipment list of film gear that holds value, Grip, lighting, tripods and more. Don’t waste time looking all this up, I have done all of that for you. Don’t waste money on a camera that loses value every day. Get the equipment that hasn't changed in over 40 years, and holds value. Housing Cheap Real Estate still exists on the outskirts of major cities like Los Angeles and New York. Did you know that you can get a production ranch for 100% financing and run your company. Paying rent in LA and NY costs more than most indie filmmakers can handle while making a film. Eliminate their overhead and have a solid asset. Making Money Are you or a friend making a film? Well the dynamics of Hollywood has changed and most people don’t know the new rules. Distribution, profits, marketing, box-office, digital, film festivals, etc, all have transitioned. The future is VoD as you may know, but the profits of individual films are generally hidden. Why? How much does ‘Social Media’ contribute to profits? Crowdfunding? Indie Marketing? Can Zero-Budget films make money? What are the VoD platforms to self distribute? And guess what... Restaurants,Toy Companies, Sporting Goods manufacturers, etc, are also getting into VoD? VoD is making billions of dollars and growing every year. Don't waste your time researching, just get my eBook as time is money. Why am I doing this? I have been living in the land of broken dreams (Hollywood) for 17 years. I’ve seen most people give up, get nowhere, and get screwed because their bills and day jobs sap their creative soul and drive. While most of the winners I’ve met in LA often get support from their parents. Many directors in Hollywood lived with their parents while shooting and editing their first feature film. I think if there were more sponsorship companies that would cover the artist's room and board and rent, it would make all the difference in the lives of the filmmakers. I want to share my plan to help investors, filmmakers, and the most valuable of all, people trying to navigate distribution on VoD. I love film and I love filmmakers. We make the world a better place while working in a cut-throat and back-stabbing business. Many people sacrifice way more than your average person to become a filmmaker and still fail. Most people don't realize how hard the business and process of filmmaking is when watching a film at home, but its crazy. I want to help the artists. What other organizations can benefit from this? Basically any entity that wants to make films for education, spiritual, political or otherwise. Such As Churches, Temples, and other religious organizations Non-Profits Marketing Companies Political Parties Groups What The eBook Needs Money for Cover Artist Professional Editor Launching My Website And a babysitter so I can add some more of my latest research The Impact “The Krauss Report” is a game changer where anyone now can have the tools to make money in film. This gives the little guy the power to potentially make millions of dollars. It’s a triple win. You can win with becoming a producer, your investor can win with protection of owning solid assets, and the sponsored filmmakers win with completing their films. Once people figure out my system, you will see hundreds more films per year. Don’t miss the boat, support my eBook and benefit from it. If you have a friend that makes films, they need to know the secrets to indie film distributions and how to make money off zero budget films. Disclaimer There is no guarantee, promise, or otherwise that these methods in The Krauss Report eBook will give you the success you are seeking. As with most business books and strategies there are many factors involved with each individual and the information is simply a tool for the reader. Some of the initial links in the first draft edition may have been broken or changed. To the best of my knowledge this information is accurate. Thank You

The film industry today | Frank Smith | TEDxChapmanU

12:31
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. The ways that people are consuming films has changed radically especially over the last decade, but has the Hollywood business model kept pace? Frank Smith shares his ideas on the nature of change in the movie industry and its value in a personal sense and a business dynamic. Frank Smith is chief operating officer of Anschutz Film Group (AFG) and Walden Media. Smith has been with AFG since 2003, but currently oversees all aspects of AFG's operations (development, physical production, publishing, marketing and outreach, finance, legal and business affairs). He also works directly with The Anschutz Corporation on strategic planning and general operational issues. During his tenure with AFG, Smith has been lead counsel overseeing large budget motion picture franchise projects, co-production finance and distribution deals with major studios, as well as structuring foreign corporations for multijurisdictional film production tax incentives. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Having Confidence in Your Film's Distribution Plan

03:44
Dave Grohl's debut film, "Sound City", was one of the best received docs at this year's Sundance and SXSW Film Festivals. It's also one of the better self-distribution case studies of the year—the film has topped the iTunes charts since debuting. How did they do it? And if they had the chance, would they do it again, or would they sell it to a distributor? Find out as Jim Rota and John Ramsay, the film's producers, sit with Sundance's Chris Horton to discuss.
