Ever wondered how event managers plan events? Want to know a simple stepped process for running your own events...well please take a look at my video and discover my proven 7 1/2 steps to the perfect event. My name is Chris Powell, The Event Expert. I am an event management trainer and event consultant - which means - I help organisations and individuals design, plan and deliver their OWN events. Over the past 17 years I have trained over 3500 people from the worlds of business, education, the public and charity sectors, sport, tourism and festivals…to run successful events. I guess I best describe myself as an events groupie - I love events: so much so that I have spent the last 22 years organising, attending, participating and writing about events – I do nothing else – well nearly nothing else ! So what I have done is create a series of event management training courses based on my experiences of organising events. I will guide you through you the event planning process from concept (the idea) to completion and every stage in between using my own 7 ½ Step Event Planning system. This video will outline my system - by the way, it's the same system I use to run my own events. My courses are practical ‘how to’ courses. No flannel: only the stuff you need to know to take an idea and turn it into a successful event. My event management training courses are for those new to events and the many accidental or occasional event managers I meet every day (it's not the day job) and will give you a great grounding of the principals of successful event planning – the 'how to' of designing, planning, venue sourcing, programming, promoting and producing great events. Experience tells me that event planning is not for everyone but I do know that the ability to plan and deliver events is a learnt skill: so with a little of the right kind of help, you CAN become a successful event planner. Need a little events help? Want to become a great event manager...then drop me an email at email@example.com and or pop across to my website at www.theventexpert.co.uk. Liked this video? From mom and pop shops, to giant tech companies, startups really should focus on live events to help enhance their brand and build their audience. Take a look at these 5 tips before you start planning your next startup event. 1. Know Your Why You really need to figure out why it is you want to host an event, what are some of the goals you’d like to achieve, and does anybody really want to come out for it? Once you figure out WHY you’re hosting an event, and why anybody is going to attend, you’ll need to... 2. Figure Out Who Is Coming If you are hosting a user conference - it’s going to be your users. If you are hosting a workshop, you need to have people that are interested in the subject matter that you’re presenting. You’ll also want to think about how many people are in the room. Look at your client base, your mailing list, your social channels and really any other opportunities for you to identify how to reach that target audience. 3. Cash Goals To make a dollar, you’re going to be charging for tickets or getting a bunch of sponsors. To spend a dollar - you are going to be hosting an event that is focused on either facetime or networking, or goodwill, or the opportunity to immerse a group of people into your brand. When it comes to breaking even - you’re just looking to cover your costs. 4. Watch the Calendar Figure out which events your target audience is already going to, and be sure to avoid those dates. Focus on finding alternate dates that fit within the calendar and you’ll probably see a handful more attendees than you would if you were trying to compete. 5. Hire a Professional Startups don’t need to dedicate the time and the resources into learning how to plan events when you can just find someone who is really good at them already. In Conclusion Hosting an event can be an amazing way to showcase your Startup and the products that you have available. But it has to be done right. Bad events can be devastating to your reputation. Be sure to think of these tips when you’re planning your next startup event.

This video today is brought to you by Evenium, technology for corporate meetings: http://bit.ly/2iBFR2V I hear your struggle. I know how demanding your audience can be and how tough it is to find new ideas all the time. We came to the rescue with 5 cool and simple ideas you can use at your next corporate event to really make an impression. 1. Food Using F&B as a vehicle for branding in corporate events is the hot trend of 2018. Try having bartenders that create custom cocktails for your attendees, designed for each guest, they share a little bit about themselves and the bartender comes up with a mix to reflect their personality. A refreshing way to engage with a brand. Alcohol lollipops are a fun way of driving brand awareness and being playful while catering to an adult audience, a great combination for a corporate event environment. 2. Visual Collaboration The second idea I have for you is actually provided by the very sponsor of this video, Evenium, and it’s called Visual Collaboration, it’s a tool that I particularly like and enjoy because it’s very engaging for the audience. If you work with C level suite attendees in particular, you want to have technology tools that enable collaboration, especially around team building activities, small executive meetings, you probably want to encourage brainstorming in the room and using technology can really help to streamline that process, without relying on whiteboards. Tech can be extremely effective to gather input from everyone and have a moderator that pulls it all together and presents the results. 3. Meeting Design Mix up your room layout and furniture to avoid the usual classroom type of environment that really kills interest even before people enter the room. Experimenting can be incredibly important to keep attention and focus. We have a whole report on meeting design that is free to download on EventMB: http://eventmb.com/Meeting-Design 4. Clever Branding Number 4 is about clever branding, placing branding where you don’t expect it. One that I particularly love is the use of the logo or messaging on the staircase leading to the main conference room. A perfect photo opportunity for the guests, it makes a visual impact. If you have the capacity, work with your sponsors or internal stakeholders to create specific areas within the event, such as lounges and areas dedicated to different activities. Don’t just stick to the expected. Create the work area, the relax area, the meditation area… play with meeting design and be clever working with sponsors. 5. Graphic Recording If you have association style meetings, with content that is super technical, but still you need to engage your attendees, another idea for you is graphic recording. Having an artist on site recording what is happening, e.g. using cartoons, to really summarize what your speakers are saying, what the sessions are about, is a great way to visually summarize what is being discussed. Not everybody learns in the same way and it can be powerful. I’ve seen it at very high end corporate meetings, always loved by attendees. The perfect picture opportunity too in an era of social media. A fantastic way to make an impact in 2018. I hope you enjoyed these 5 ideas to jazz up your corporate events in 2018. Give us a like, or subscribe, we have more awesome content coming your way to make your events successful.

We are the last to leave the room and the first to open it the day of the event. We never look stressed and always reflect a positive image. We eat stress for breakfast and we are not scared of pressure. So let’s look at the top 5 reasons why event planning may not be for you. You can’t get things done If you find yourself procrastinating time and time again. Events are probably not for you. If you’ve planned events you know how responsiveness is important. If your team asks what to do with those lanyards, there is no ‘I will let you know’. You are required to make micro decisions every minute and the sum of those decisions is your event! No time for “I have no time.” 2. You are scared of tech Events today are a lot about tech these days. From making smart AV decisions to selecting the mobile app for your conference. You should be an expert of all things social media, livestreaming, snapchatting, facebooking. If you are not willing to understand the basics of technology, you will struggle a lot. This is not a job for you. 3. Chit chatting Event planning may not be for you if you’re finding yourself coming across as very annoying to not only the attendees, but also vendors, speakers, and basically anyone involved with the event. Overly communicating and instructing people at or attending an event is the wrong way to approach communication. There’s no need to send email updates on a daily basis (unless your client or someone on your events staff asks for updates every day), so be sure to be mindful of people’s inboxes when typing away and pressing send. 4. You get tired easily There is no work around this one. One thing we all share is a reserve of energy that keeps us going. We keep going and going. We don’t know what being tired means. We can relax the day after the event, although really the first thing we think about when our event is over is ‘When is the next one going to be?’ 5. You are not a good listener Making decisions for your event involves having great listening skills. If you don’t get what your client is talking about, you will not get things right and your event will be a mess. Experienced eventprofs don’t assume they know everything. They listen to their team, their vendors, their venue. Event planners know that listening means making better decisions. So, in conclusion... Being an Event Planner is a super rewarding career but it can be tough. These are the top 5 reasons why event planning may not be for you, so if you identify with any of these traits you may want to consider an alternative career path. If you are ready for the challenge then “go for it” and good luck! ---------------------------------------- Thanks for tuning in for this video: 5 Signs Event Planning is Not for You This was brought to you by Event Manager Blog, in partnership with Eventtus, The Next Generation of Event Apps.

Watch more How to DJ videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/498802-How-to-Plan-for-an-Event-DJ-Lessons There are different events out there, there are clubs, private parties, private functions, there's also like city gigs, college parties or there might be like actual dance competitions which I DJ a lot.I start off by locking in my price.Once I lock in my price,I have the address,I know what time I need to be there to setup. So if the event starts at 7.00,I am not gonna be there at 7.00 because I have to give myself time to set up.So I am gonna show up at 6.00 or maybe 5.30.If I need to drive long distance,I also have to take into consideration that there might be traffic, you never know what the weather is gonna be like for that day,so you wanna definitely plan ahead give yourselves enough time.A good friend of mine told me when you show up early you are on time, when your on time you are late, when your late you might as well not show up,Right? So something to keep in mind. Also getting your music together, for that type of an event like B-boeing competition I usually play old school hip-hop,funk,some disco. So I organize those crates, make sure that I have those crates set up.And I also have music for ciphers like when people are dancing and just like warming up and then I have music for the actual competition for the battle. So I don't wanna play anything that I am gonna use for competition and play it in a cipher because i don't like to repeat songs. So depends on what the event is you wanna definitely organize your music and pretty much set it up for that event. Also if there's any promotional material that you would like to bring with you to brand yourself, coz it's all about branding, right? So I go by the name DP one,if you know this I am wearing a DP one shirt. This is done purposely so that I can brand myself.Whenever I am 'DJ'ing and playing outdoors,I also might wanna set up a banner.I wanna bring up some stickers to pass out.I definitely bring my business cards, you never know whom you gonna meet. You wanna make sure that you can generate more business. Also you might want to have customized drops ready,so when you are playing you can let people know who's spinning because you don't want that credit to go to someone else.Doesn't hurt to get on the mic as well and let the people know who you are and if there's any other events that you might be 'DJ'ing, promote those events. And you can also promote whatever event you are about to do,or the events that are up and coming using Facebook or Twitter or like sending out an email blast. So this is how you plan to have a successful event. You want people to come to that event, right? So you definitely have to spread the word as well as the promoter. You have to take all these things into consideration and this is the best way going about a doing something.

Join the conversation at http://www.lifeonfire.com/83 How to Plan a Live Event That Makes $100,000 in 1 Day - Learn our Live Event Strategy in just a few minutes with business coach and Facebook Marketing Expert Nick Unsworth, CEO of the Business Coaching company, Life on Fire! TOPIC TAGS: how to plan a live event, how to create a live event, how to plan a live business event, planning a live event, how to plan a conference One of the best ways to recognized a large amount of revenue all at once is through having a live a event. Here are some steps you can take toward planning events for your business! You can start off small if you’ve never done an event before and organize a 1-day event or even just a partial day event. From there, you can move up to eventually having large 3-day events. The benefit of a live event is the personal interaction and the connection you’re able to make with your attendees. Typically your highest likelihood for making a sale is when you’re in a one-on-one, face-to-face environment. However, the next best thing to that is a one-to-many, face-to-face environment (i.e. a live event)! Some of the concerns that can naturally pop up when planning an event may be: What if nobody shows up? What am I going to talk about? How am I going to pay for it all? What if nobody buys? The first thing to do if any of those “fear-based” thoughts pop up is to realize that they are an indication that you are about to have a growth moment. Don’t run away from them. Embrace them and go toward them. An important step that can help all of that is to hire an event planning company. A good event planning company should be able to pay for their fee just from the benefit they provide in the contract negotiation. You want to approach the planning from the perspective of, “What is it that I want my attendees to experience and get out of this event?” Once you know your end attendee goal or your value proposition you can then frame out the steps of what you need to go through with your attendees to get them there. Believe it or not, once you factor in breaks, transition times, etc., the amount of time you have to actually speak is a lot less that you think. The key is to give incredible value. Don’t hold anything back. Give you best stuff, your most beneficial information and strategies. Not only does this create a great experience for your attendees, but it makes it substantially easier to generate sales from your event. A massively important aspect of the planning process is how you’re going to fill the room. Definitely tap into your existing network for that. If you don’t have an existing network, then perhaps you can partner with other groups or influencers in your area. The planning process is essentially the same, only bigger, with more opportunity to add value and create a unique and powerful experience, when you move from a 1-day event to a 3-day event. We’ve been preparing to have our first 3-day event for over a year now and it’s finally time. It’s HERE! It’s called Ignite and it’s happening in Sunny San Diego on December 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2014! If you’re looking to go from being a 6-figure entrepreneur to a 7-figure entrepreneur, this event is for you. The tickets are $1,000. However, if you are one of the first people to take fast action, we’re going to get you in for FREE. Just send an email to email@example.com and we’ll follow up with you to get your seat reserved! It’s that simple! We can’t wait to see you there! If you got some great business event planning tips from this episode please leave a comment below! http://www.djmiketheprofessor.com - The key to having the perfect event for you guests is properly planning in advance. Hello, I'm Ty from Move Up With Mike Entertainment with a short Guide on How to Plan the Perfect Event. #1. Have a clear purpose / Vision • Having a clearly defined vision for your event not only helps with planning what you need in advance, it also helps your guests prepare to attend your event by knowing how to dress or if a gift is needed. #2. Create and Follow a Budget • Although many may argue where the majority of the budget should go, you at least need to know how much money you have to know how to spread it amongst party necessities. #3. Create a Guest List • Only you know who is important to you or who it is important to attend and only you knows who should not be in the same room together. #4. Search for an appropriate venue • As they say in real estate, Location, Location, Location. A good venue will help your guests remember and enjoy your event. #5. Perks • Food -- Remember you're not the only one eating • Music -- The right music can set the mood for an enjoyable night for your guests • Entertainment -- Although I am sure there will be great conversation at your event, a little entertainment is great to break up the event. #6. Conduct a Walk-through • If you want the night to flow with little hiccups, you need to meet do a walkthrough for your event to identify any potential problems. Yogi Berra Once said, "If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else." With the right planning, I am sure your event will definitely be what you hoped it be.
