How to Raise Your HDL & Lower Your Triglycerides (NOT what you Think)

07:48
I've had people who have tried for years to lower their triglycerides and raise their HDL by eating diets recommended by such websites as WebMD and Mayo Clinic, come to me after they failed. It seems that no matter how hard they tried, they just couldn't improve these proven risk markers for Heart Attack and Stroke. Turns out that these people were not stupid or lazy or gluttons, the advice they had taken was just WRONG. The AMA/AHA/ADA/WebMD/Mayo Clinic have been giving ignorant advice on this subject for decades. Their advice would be laughable, had it not killed and crippled so many... If you want to lower your Triglycerides and raise your HDL, and in the process slash your risk of heart attack and stroke, the you need to do the opposite of what these organizations tell you. Cholesterol Levels Chart Explanation - HDL and LDL cholesterol

04:23
In this video, you will find out what is the optimum cholesterol level and how HDL and LDL should be balanced. And if you want to discover a proven way to lower cholesterol naturally, click this link: ►► http://drsam.co/yt/cholesterolchart-choleslo And if you want to watch another video called "What is a normal cholesterol level?", click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1TEIwTUaeQ =============================================== Cholesterol Levels Chart - Balance between HDL and LDL =============================================== Hi … this is Dr. Sam Robbins Today’s question is from Debbie and she asks “Can you please explain and simplify the cholesterol numbers and charts?” This is a good question because I think we should all know more about how our body works because nobody will care more about your health than you will. First we have your “Total Cholesterol” numbers, which is the sum of all the cholesterol in your blood. As you can see from the chart, your goal should be less than 200mg/dL. However, I’d like to point out that I personally believe that anything less than 150mg/dL is TOO LOW! And yes, your cholesterol can be “too low” and I think that’s just as bad as “too high”, which is over 240mg/dL What most people don’t know or understand, is that your body NEEDS cholesterol and it has many important functions, such as: ● Producing your “sex hormones”, such as testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA and similar “youth” hormones ● Utilizing Vitamin D and other fat-soluble vitamins, which help your bones, nerves, metabolism, skin elasticity, strong immunity and so forth. ● Proper brain function, memory, cognition, balancing dopamine, serotonin and other “feel good” neurotransmitters. And this is a major problem with cholesterol lowering “statin” drugs and why they cause: ● Impotence ● Memory loss ● Accelerated aging ● Depression ● Etc. In a minute I’ll show you how you can easily improve your cholesterol levels naturally, WITHOUT the use of these harmful drugs or a restrictive diet. However, what I’d like to point out is that what matters most is the CORRECT BALANCE in your lipid levels, which is what I want to talk about next and that’s your HDL/LDL ratios... =HDL= First I’d like to start with your HDL, which is short for “high density lipoprotein”. Your HDL is considered the "good" cholesterol because it can help decrease the cholesterol buildup in the walls of your arteries, that causes narrowing of their openings. Generally speaking, the higher your HDL, the better. For example, after giving my mom some specific herbs that I’ll tell you about in a minute, I was able to raise her “good” HDL from 52 mg/dL to 94 mg/dL Her cardiologist and I are very happy because sometimes my mom’s TOTAL cholesterol goes in the “borderline high” range (200-239 mg/dL). However, we’re okay with that because her “good” HDL is so high and thus, very protective. =LDL= Lastly, I’d like to finish with your LDL, which is short for “low density lipoprotein”. Your LDL is considered the "bad" cholesterol because the risk of heart disease goes up if you have high levels of LDL. So you want this to be LOW This is basically the OPPOSITE of what HDL does. =Summary= Remember, your goal is to have healthy cholesterol levels between the range of 150-200 mg/dL. Too LOW is just as bad as too HIGH. And what matters most with your cholesterol numbers is your HDL/LDL ratios. You want your “good” HDL to be high and “bad” LDL to be low. A good way to remember this is the “H” in HDL for HIGH and “L” in LDL for LOW. I hope this video was helpful and gave your more clarity. What Is HDL Cholesterol & Why it's Called The Good Cholesterol?

03:17
►http://drsam.co/yt/RaiseYourGoodCholesterol - See how my parents increases their good cholesterol 100% naturally and how you can do the same starting today! =============================================== What exact is HDL cholesterol and why does my doctor want this cholesterol to be HIGH? I thought cholesterol was bad and it needs to be low? =============================================== First, cholesterol is NOT “bad”. Cholesterol is very important in the creation of cell walls, your hormones, and digestive juices. Cholesterol is also needed for improving your mood and a positive sense of well-being. This is why cholesterol lowering statin drugs have so many negative side-effects, because they lower cholesterol too low. In fact, having “low” cholesterol levels can be just as bad as having “high” cholesterol. Your HDL (high-density lipoprotein) is considered the "good" cholesterol because it can help decrease the cholesterol buildup in the walls of your arteries, that causes narrowing of their openings. While LDL (low-density lipoprotein), is considered the “bad” cholesterol because when your LDL level is high, it can start to form a plaque-like substance on the walls of your cardiovascular system (arteries and veins), blocking the natural flow of blood and leaving you at severe risk for a heart attack and stroke The “good” HDL basically helps clean up your “bad” LDL. Generally speaking, the higher your HDL, the better. An easy way to remember this is to think of the “L” in LDL as LOW and the “H” in HDL as HIGH And thus your goal is to have lower LDL and higher HDL For example, after giving my mom some specific herbs that I’ll tell you about in a minute, I was able to raise her “good” HDL from 52 mg/dL to 94 mg/dL Her cardiologist and I are very happy because sometimes my mom’s TOTAL cholesterol goes in the “borderline high” range (200-239 mg/dL). However, we’re okay with that because her “good” HDL is so high and thus, very protective. Dietary fats have many names and terms, including fatty acids, saturated, unsaturated, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, trans, hydrogenated, cholesterol, triglycerides, hydrocarbons, low density lipoprotein or LDL, high density lipoprotein or HDL, lipids, MUFA, PUFA, and phospholipids. Common sources of dietary fat include cheese, butter, fish oil, lard, and many others. Why Cholesterol Can Go High on a Ketogenic Diet

02:10
Tell Me Your Success with Before & After Images: https://bit.ly/2O9C0HT Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about cholesterol being high on a ketogenic diet. This is an oversimplified talk and for more detailed data - see the video on LDL. However, as your fat cells shrink, the fat cell not only releases triglycerides, but cholesterol too. Many people do not know the fat cells are filled with both. The excess cholesterol needs to either be eliminated through the liver and gallbladder (bile) or be recycled. This is all a normal process on ketosis. Hey guys, I want to talk about what will happen if your cholesterol went high on a ketogenic diet. The first thing you should know is that when you lose weight, the fat cells actually shrink. They won’t go away completely, you can’t get rid of the fat cells but you can shrink it. Second thing you need to know is inside that fat cell you have, triglycerides and cholesterol. A lot of people don’t realize that cholesterol is also stored in the fat cells. As the fat cell shrinks, you can burn triglycerides for fuel but you cannot burn cholesterol, it is not a fuel source. It is going to be eliminated to the body as you lose weight. As the fat cell is squeezed, the cholesterol is going to increase in the blood and is going to go in the liver and comes out to the bile. As long as your liver is healthy and you’re eating a lot of vegetables, and you have enough bile, you are totally fine even if your LDL is fine. The key thing is to make sure that your triglycerides are low because if you are not using your triglycerides as a fuel then there is a problem, you are probably eating too much sugar but when you are in ketogenic diet and you are doing it correctly and your triglycerides are low and your HDL and LDL is high, all that means is that you are burning more LDL and there is no bad effects that are going to happen, just keep your vegetables high and as you keep closer to your weight loss goal, that will level out and come back normal. Ketogenic Dieting May Increase Your Cholesterol: Don’t Panic- Thomas DeLauer

Maybe your doctor's telling you that you're doing something terribly wrong. Maybe he's telling you you need to get off that ketogenic diet because your cholesterol levels are high. Maybe you're just scared. Maybe you're just concerned as to why they're higher, or maybe you're trying to be proactive and trying to understand why they might get higher. In this video, I'm going to help you understand that higher levels of cholesterol on a ketogenic diet could very well mean a very, very good and rather cool thing. You see, we have to remember that we're on a ketogenic diet. Everything is surrounding fats. We're eating a lot of fats, we're metabolizing fats, we're going to have more lipids and we're going to have more cholesterols in the bloodstream, plain and simple. We have to remember that. What's interesting is that higher levels of cholesterol on a ketogenic diet are being linked and associated with weight loss. Believe it or not, once weight loss starts and fatty acid metabolism really kicks in, we see an increase in cholesterol. So it usually means that you're having an influx of weight loss occurring at that very point in time. You see, as fat starts to break down, cholesterol goes up, and it has to do with the fact that triglycerides are mobilized and they end up getting broken down into fuel but the cholesterol just kind of hangs out. The cholesterol doesn't really get burned for fuel. It's not metabolized like that. It's not energy. So what it does, it ends up sitting in the bloodstream, waiting to get recycled by the liver. It's not doing anything good or doing anything bad. It's just elevated and it's usually indicative of the fact that your body is using a little bit more fat for fuel at that very point in time. So you will find it's a temporary increase and once the weight loss starts to plateau a little bit and starts to slow down, your cholesterol levels will probably start to come down. You've probably seen an increase in both your HDL and your LDL, and it just has to do with the fact that both of them are mobilized. On that note, we have to understand HDL and LDL and the relationship with ketosis, and once you understand this, everything's going to make a lot more sense and I can almost guarantee you're going to come out of this video overall feeling a lot less stressed out about this situation. First off, HDL and LDL, they're not even cholesterols. They're transport vehicles. They deliver cholesterols. So you've got high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein. Low density lipoprotein, the "bad cholesterol" delivers nutrients. It delivers cholesterol, delivers fat and fat-soluble nutrients to the cell. Very important, but for some reason it gets a bad rap. Then we have HDL. HDL's job is to go around and pick up waste particles or used LDL, particles of LDL, and take them back to the liver for recycling. So somewhere along the lines, messages got going to confused. For some reason we think that LDL is bad because it's delivering fat, even though it's totally important. For some reason we think that purely recycling that fat is the only good thing that should be occurring. 🥥 HDL - 15 Foods Proven To Increase Your Good Cholesterol

If you want to see more foods, then you should also see these 5 WORST high cholesterol foods: 👉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QyL7WydW_c How my parents lowered their cholesterol by 30 pts in 30 days - no diets or drugs: 👉 http://drsam.co/yt/Improve-Cholesterol =============================================== 🥥 HDL - 15 Foods Proven To Increase Your Good Cholesterol =============================================== #cholesterol The past 3-4 years, my mom’s cholesterol has been between 225 to the highest of 243 (mg/dL). According to the numbers based on what you “should” have, my mom has HIGH cholesterol. Ideally, you’re *supposed* to have your total cholesterol under 200 and anything over 240 is “high”. And for those of you who know me, you’re probably shocked that I would ever allow her numbers to get so high. On top of it, why hasn’t her cardiologist prescribed her a statin cholesterol lowering drug such as Lipitor, Crestor or Zocor? Well, this is because her “good” HDL cholesterol (High-density lipoprotein) is crazy high and off the charts - averaging around 115 mg/dL. According to the stats, you want your HDL to be over 40 and my mom’s is almost 3x the amount! And because of this, her cardiologist said “Sam, I honestly don’t care at all what her total cholesterol is, with HDL levels that high - she’s got nothing to worry about” And yes, he’s done all the tests and checked her arteries and everything. Things have only improved and gotten better in the past 20 years. And the reason both her cardiologist and myself have no concern is because your HDL (High-density lipoprotein) is like a vacuum cleaner for cholesterol in the body. When it’s at healthy levels in your blood, it removes extra cholesterol and plaque buildup in your arteries and then sends it to your liver. Your liver then expels it from your body. Ultimately, this will help reduce your risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. This is what keeps your “bad” LDL cholesterol in check. It’s the ratio that matters and the higher your HDL, the better and less concern with your LDL. So, with said, let me give some of the foods my mom eats that have improved her HDL cholesterol from about 50 mg/dL to what it is now, 20 years later -- 115 mg/dL Healthy Fats: I’ve changed the type of fats my mom eats. She’s almost eliminated all the regular vegetable and seed oils you see at the supermarket - such as canola, corn, sunflower, soybean and so forth, to eating fats such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil Macadamia Nut Oil Avocados Flaxseed Oil (Udo’s Oil is my favorite) Walnuts She has about 25% - 40% of her diet from these healthy fats Healthy Proteins: I’ve actually reduced her protein intake. She has eliminated all dairy - no milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. She eats: Salmon - 3x weekly Pasture Raised Bison/Buffalo - 1x weekly Pasture Raised Whole Eggs - 4 - 6 eggs weekly Pasture Raised Chicken - 1x weekly Vegetable protein powder - 2x weekly (no soy) It’s not much protein at all, maybe just one meal daily. The rest her protein will comes from plant based, vegetables, beans and so forth. Healthy Carbohydrates: Everyone is afraid of carbs these days, but you shouldn’t be at all. My mom has reduced “bad” carbs such as cereals, pastries, pastas, breads and so forth. Anything that’s packaged, “man-made” and has a long shelf life, which contains a ton of ingredients. You want natural carbs She now eats: White or wild rice (her favorite) Quinoa Beans and Legumes - black beans and lentils are her favorite, cooked in a pressure cooker to remove lectins which cause inflammation Fruit - NO juice, whole fruit Vegetables - she’s not a fan, but will eat some broccoli, carrots and spinach mainly And that’s it for the diet. Water, Tea and CholesLo She drinks more water these days, but not as much as she should. She loves her tea (Earl Grey and green tea). Of course, she still takes CholesLo daily. But she’s increased her dosage as she’s gotten older, which has made additional improvements in her lipid levels… Lowering triglycerides Decreasing Homocysteine Levels Improving HDL/LDL ratios dramatically Cleansing and detoxing her liver, where 80% of your cholesterol is made (NOT from the foods you eat) Reducing inflammation and blood sugar ======================================== ======================================== Subscribe to Dr.Sam Robbins's official Youtube channel http://drsam.co/yt/subscribe Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/DrSamRobbins ========================================= Thanks DrSamRobbins

Cholesterol and Heart Disease: Should You Worry About High LDL Levels? - Thomas DeLauer

Cholesterol and Heart Disease: Should You Worry About High LDL Levels? - Thomas DeLauer… LDL cholesterol is not the bad culprit that is leading to your heart disease. Don't listen to all the mainstream stuff out there that tells you if your cholesterol levels are high that you are inevitably going to end up with heart disease. Here's the thing: it literally comes down to something known as oxidized LDL. It's not LDL. It's the process in which inflammation envelops LDL. If you listen to this video and you understand what I say, I promise you that you can start finding a way to still eat the higher fat foods that you need without worrying about having cholesterol give you a heart attack. Pay attention to how this actually works within the body. LDL is needed first of all. It's not the bad cholesterol. It's only bad when it's oxidized. LDL cholesterol delivers what we need to the cell. LDL is the cholesterol that is heading to the cell to be utilized. HDL cholesterol, or good cholesterol, scavenges excess cholesterol and brings it back to the liver, so it's gotten a good name because it goes ahead and it picks up bad cholesterol that's laying around. The reality is they're both good. We need both of them. LDL becomes bad when it becomes oxidized. If you've ever heard of oxidative stress, well, that's just the thing. Have you ever heard of an antioxidant? We talk about them all the time. They're marketed all the time. Antioxidants get rid of oxidation or oxidative stress or free radicals within the body. It's only when a free radical combines with LDL that we have a problem. Here's how it works. When you have LDL, that cholesterol is going to do a specific job. A cell has a receptor where that LDL goes into the receptor and does its job within the cell. Now, what happens is that LDL can react with a free radical. Let's say you have a toxin that's in your body because you've been eating a lot of sugar. Those free radicals float through your bloodstream, and they hit the LDL. It causes a chemical reaction that causes that LDL to swell up. It causes it to swell up because it triggers white blood cells and macrophages to attract to it. Now, you've got this LDL that's no longer a nice, clean LDL. It's now a foamy, spongy, soft LDL that's been exceptionally sticky. What happens? They aggregate. All of those LDL cells that are now sticky, that aggregate and they continue to pile on until they are just a smorgasbord of LDL cells that are not functioning properly. They are sticky, they are foamy, and they are oxidized. Then they stick to your arterial wall, but guess what? It's not the sticking to the arterial wall that's really even the bad thing. What happens is they actually enter through the endothelial layer of your artery, which means it actually enters into the cell. Enter into the actual wall of the artery. Then, when that happens, it triggers more inflammation because now the endothelial cells are like, "Whoa. What's this invader doing?" You have more inflammation that goes to the cells, so now not only do you have a plaque of sticky, foamy, oxidized LDL, but you have an arterial wall that is swollen with an inflammatory response. Your arterial wall went from this to this, but it gets worse. Now that you have this oxidized LDL, it actually inhibits the production of nitric oxide. That inhibition of nitric oxide means that you no longer have nitric oxide to allow those endothelial cells to relax and allow the vasodilation or the relaxation of the blood vessel. Dave Feldman: Biohacking High Cholesterol Levels on Keto Diet

01:04:09
Dave Feldman explains how some get high cholesterol blood results on a keto diet, but how quickly you can reduce your cholesterol levels if needed. Dave is fast becoming a sought after cholesterol expert in the low carb diet community. This is because of his in depth and extensive self-experimentation results. Dave is a hyper-responder to a keto diet. This means when he eats more fat and less carb he experiences a rise in LDL cholesterol unlike others who can get the opposite. However, Dave is trying to crack the cholesterol code by testing on his own body what happens when he manipulates certain factors to his cholesterol blood test readings. He has discovered the inversion pattern plus devised the Feldman Protocol for reducing cholesterol within a day or two if needed quickly. If you have changed your diet to eat less carbohydrates and more fat, but your blood tests show your cholesterol has gone up and now you are worried then this interview is for you. 11 Foods That Increase Your HDL Levels

05:47
11 Foods That Increase Your HDL Levels When choosing foods that increase HDL cholesterol, what you have to bear in mind is that the food you eat is not the be-all and end-all of how you balance your cholesterol levels in the first place. For instance, other factors have to come into consideration such as lifestyle choices including whether you smoke or not, how much alcohol you consume and if you do not exercise. That said, one of the things that you do want to do is ensure that you have as much HDL in your blood as possible to help control the LDL cholesterol. Following are three foods that increase HDL cholesterol. Oily fish - Oily fish such as sardines, mackerel, salmon and tuna are excellent at helping to increase your HDL levels. The reason for this is because they reduce your triglyceride levels, and when triglyceride levels are low this enables HDL levels to increase. Oats - Foods such as oats are high in soluble fiber, and soluble fiber not only helps to increase HDL levels but also helps reduce total cholesterol as well. As well as oats other foods that contain soluble fiber are whole-grain food, brown rice, lentils and legumes. Onions - Onions are one of the little-known foods that increase HDL cholesterol levels. In studies that were carried out, when people with cholesterol problems ate approximately half a raw onion a day, 25 percent of them found a reduction in their cholesterol levels. Foods that you definitely want to avoid as they will decrease your HDL levels are any foods that are contain or are cooked in trans fats. Trans fats otherwise known as hydrogenated vegetable oil are added to certain foods to extend the shelf life and also used by fast food outlets for deep frying. Trans fats are notorious because not only do they lower your HDL cholesterol but they also increase your LDL cholesterol; this of course is the exact opposite of everything that we are trying to achieve. In addition to eating foods that increase HDL cholesterol, you may also find it helpful to take supplements as well. This is proving increasingly popular because there are certain nutrients that are found in supplements that can have a significant impact on your HDL levels. To find out more about supplements and how they can help you increase your HDL please visit my website where I explain it more detail. Find out what do your total cholesterol numbers mean. Discover why Dr. Sam Robbins, recommends CholesLo ™ as the solution for lowering your cholesterol with less effort and time. 👉 http://drsam.co/yt/CholesterolLevels-CholesLo ********************* What Is A Normal Cholesterol Level? *************************** Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that is naturally present in cell walls or membranes everywhere in the body. Your body uses cholesterol to produce many hormones, as well as one of the most important vitamins in the body – Vitamin D. High cholesterol in your bloodstream can lead to narrowing of the arteries, which can cause a heart attack or stroke. Your goal is to have “healthy” cholesterol levels – not too high or too low. Your goal should be to keep cholesterol level below 140 mg/dL. What do your total cholesterol numbers mean? Your total blood cholesterol is measure of LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and other lipid components. It is a combination of numerous numbers and this is why most people just focus on this number for simplicity reasons. Improving your cholesterol levels is very important but it is just one factor out of many, when it comes to preventing and reversing heart disease. You also need to improve your HDL/LDL ratios, triglycerides, homocysteine and other lipid levels. Managing your lipid profiles is probably one of the most important aspects to health, longevity, and disease prevention. Making dramatic life-style changes — such as eating much better, eliminating many different foods and exercising daily — is very important but for many people can be difficult to start and it takes a longer time to see results. How to Lower Cholesterol: LDL vs. HDL- Thomas DeLauer

08:06
Please Be Sure to Subscribe for 3x Videos Per Week! http://www.thomasdelauer.com How to Lower Cholesterol: LDL vs. HDL- Thomas DeLauer... Good vs. Bad Cholesterol: LDL cholesterol is not bad. HDL is not cholesterol and neither is LDL. “High” and “low” refer to the relative proportion of protein to fat in the bundle. HDL stands for High Density Lipoprotein. LDL stands for Low Density Lipoprotein. (There are three other lipoproteins; chylomicrons, VLDL and IDL) Cholesterol and fat are not water-soluble so they need to be carried around the body in something to do their vital work. The carriers of such substances are called lipoproteins. (4) Lipoproteins: Lipoproteins travel round the bloodstream and act as transporters. So LDL and HDL are carriers of cholesterol, as well as triglycerides and phospholipids and proteins. LDL is the carrier of fresh cholesterol and HDL is the carrier of recycled cholesterol. VLDL, LDL, and HDL: The liver is central to the regulation of cholesterol levels in the body. Not only does it synthesize cholesterol for export to other cells, but it also removes cholesterol from the body by converting it to bile salts and putting it into the bile where it can be eliminated in the feces. Chylomicrons and VLDL deliver TAG to cells in the body. Two types of lipoproteins are triglyceride-rich: the chylomicrons and VLDL. Chylomicrons are synthesized by enterocytes from lipids absorbed in the small intestine. VLDL is synthesized in the liver. The function of these lipoproteins is to deliver energy-rich triacylglycerol (TAG) to cells in the body (pink pathway). TAG is stripped from chylomicrons and VLDL through the action of lipoprotein lipase, an enzyme that is found on the surface of endothelial cells. HDL is involved in reverse cholesterol transport. Excess cholesterol is eliminated from the body via the liver, which secretes cholesterol in bile or converts it to bile salts. The liver removes LDL and other lipoproteins from the circulation by receptor-mediated endocytosis. It travels in the circulation where it gathers cholesterol to form mature HDL, which then returns the cholesterol to the liver via various pathways. LDL delivers cholesterol to cells in the body. As VLDL particles are stripped of triacylglycerol, they become more dense. These particles are remodeled at the liver and transformed into LDL. The function of LDL is to deliver cholesterol to cells, where it is used in membranes, or for the synthesis of steroid hormones. Cells take up cholesterol by receptor-mediated endocytosis. LDL binds to a specific LDL receptor and is internalized in an endocytic vesicle. Receptors are recycled to the cell surface, while hydrolysis in an endolysosome releases cholesterol for use in the cell. LDL is what we call a carrier protein, and one of its important jobs is to carry a fundamentally important chemical to every cell in the body. This chemical is a critical component of cell membranes, serves as a brain antioxidant, and is the raw material from which your body manufactures vitamin D, cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Study - The British Medical Journal (BMJ): The research team — comprised of experts from seven different countries — evaluated data collected from 19 studies on a total of 68,094 older adults. The team was seeking to determine if LDL cholesterol is associated with death in the older adults. According to the cholesterol hypothesis, it should directly relate. According to the BMJ study, it doesn’t. Researchers say almost 80 percent of the participants in the studies who had high LDL cholesterol did not die because of their cholesterol level. On the other hand, researchers discovered people with low levels of LDL cholesterol, or LDL-C, had the highest rates of death related to cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. 'Good' cholesterol: You CAN have too much of a good thing

01:59
In a recent study, researchers weigh-in on the conventional wisdom that supercharging your "good" cholesterol to very high levels can help reduce the risk of heart disease. What they found instead was that both low levels of the cholesterol – known as high-density lipoprotein (HDL) – and very high levels could lead to a higher risk of death. 6 SIGNS THAT YOU MAY HAVE HIGH CHOLESTEROL

05:02
Why is it so important to keep cholesterol at the normal levels and how to maintain it within the health limits? Cholesterol is a vital, fat-like substance that is contained in each cell of our body, as well as in our blood. Most of the cholesterol is produced by the liver, and the rest is procured through food. Please subscribe, click the bell and watch this video until the end to know the complete information. Cholesterol has extremely important reasons for our body and functions: it participates in the construction of cell membranes and in the formation of sexes and adrenal hormones; without cholesterol, the body can not synthesize vitamin D, which is indispensable to healthy bones, nor produces bile acid, without which fat in the body cannot be processed properly. When an excess of cholesterol accumulates in the body, it can not be broken down and this increases the risks to our health. The main danger is the onset of atherosclerosis, which in turn is the cause of most cardiovascular diseases such as a heart attack for example. The causes of increased levels of cholesterol in the blood are different: hereditary predisposition, chronic liver disease thyroid gland and diabetes. A sure way to maintain a normal cholesterol level is regular testing. Specialists recommend except for total, to monitor still poor (LDL) and good (HDL) cholesterol, as well as triglycerides. It is known that 20 years is the age in which the first examination for determining the values of cholesterol should be done. Revealed in time, increased cholesterol can be overcome and can not lead to serious health problems later. Here are 6 signs that you may have high cholesterol. 1. yellow growths on your eyelids. Did you know that yellowish eyelid can be a sign of high cholesterol? Take a good look at the eyelids, if you notice yellow spots, make a doctor’s appointment, check your cholesterol levels and your heart’s health. Also, do you notice painless yellow growths of the upper and lower eyelids? This phenomenon is called “xanthelasma” and it is a clear indication that you have high blood cholesterol levels. 2. gray-colored ring around your cornea. Often this is a sign of aging, so it should not be a cause for worry. But if you are far from retired, the gray circle around the iris may indicate high cholesterol and blood fat, which very often means a risk of heart attack or stroke. This gray colored ring or lacquer is actually composed of cholesterol that collects in the deeper parts of your cornea. 3. tingling sensation in the hands and feet. The tingling sensation of the hands and feet may indicate a problem in your body. This should be taken seriously because these symptoms can be caused by serious health problems. If the blood vessels are blocked by cholesterol, it is likely that you will feel tingling in your hands and feet, because your peripheral nerves are not getting do enough blood oxygen and nutrients for their proper functioning. 4. pain in the neck and back of the head. Because cholesterol levels that are too high can cause some of your blood vessels to block, it’s very possible that your circulation is obstructed. Such can leave your neck sensitive and deteriorate from time to time. The shoulder can also be felt in the same way. Medical practitioners say that high blood cholesterol levels can also make you have a headache, especially in the back of your head. 5. rapid or pounding beating of the heart. When a person says that she has heart palpitations, she thinks of the inner feeling that her heart beats something different from the usual one. Or, it simply has the awareness of the heartbeat. Most of the time, heart palpitations are harmless and they are often experienced after exercise or engaging in the intense physical activity. Sometimes they are due to anxiety, stress, and the intake of certain drugs. Palpitations may also indicate problems with the cardiovascular system, but and high cholesterol levels are one of them. Clogging the blood vessels due to cholesterol can lead to an accelerated operation of your heart. 6. unhealthy diet and lifestyle. If you eat plenty of fatty foods and avoid fruits and vegetables that contain a lot of fiber if you are a smoker and if you drink alcohol in excessive amounts, if you are overweight and do not exercise regularly, then there is a great chance that your cholesterol level is already high. But sometimes high cholesterol depends on our genes. About 1 in 500 people have a specific genetic mutation that leads to the accumulation of cholesterol in their blood. These people suffer from high cholesterol regardless of their lifestyle. if you suspect that you may have high cholesterol then please start eating a healthy diet and get levels checked out at the hospital. Raising HDL Not a Sure Route to Countering Heart Disease

02:28
For more information on this study, visit: http://www.massgeneral.org/doctors/news/pressrelease.aspx?id=1466 Dr. Sekar Kathiresan, Director of Preventive Cardiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital Heart Center talks about his recent study published in The Lancet that challenges the assumption that raising a person's HDL -- the so-called good cholesterol" -- will necessarily lower the risk of a heart attack. The new research underscores the value of using genetic approaches to test biological hypotheses about human disease prior to developing specific drugs. A team led by researchers from the Broad Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) explored naturally occurring genetic variations in humans to test the connection between HDL levels and heart attack. By studying the genes of roughly 170,000 individuals, the team discovered that, when examined together, the 15 HDL-raising variants they tested do not reduce the risk of heart attack. In this video, Kathiresan provides a brief overview of the research and findings and gives advice to the medical community about the implications of this study and also answers the big question patients may have regarding their own low HDL cholesterol numbers.

Coconut Oil and the Boost in HDL “Good” Cholesterol

The effects of coconut oil are compared to butter and tallow. Even if virgin coconut oil and other saturated fats raise LDL “bad” cholesterol, isn’t that countered by the increase in HDL “good” cholesterol? 3 Weird Tips on Lowering BAD LDL Cholesterol and Increase GOOD HDL Cholesterol

02:20
Do you want to lower your cholesterol? In this short video, I share three unusual ways of improving your cholesterol levels naturally. Links to all the studies and further info on improving your cholesterol naturally, so you may be able to avoid medication altogether: http://bit.ly/cholesterol-heart-attacks You're unlikely to hear the tips in this video from a doctor. Yet they can be highly effective at getting your cholesterol to a healthy level. In fact, one of them was found in a study to lower the heart disease risk for 9 out of 10 people. My name is Gareth Churchill and I’m natural health researcher for Erudite Lifestyle magazine. We report on the latest breakthroughs in alternative medicine as well as expose the bogus claims. When it comes to cholesterol, new advances are being made all the time on how to balance your cholesterol and lower your risk of heart disease naturally, and avoid spending a lifetime on pharmaceutical drugs with possible side effects. My first unusual tip is to eat FAT. That's right, I said FAT. But not any fat. I mean healthy fats that can help boost your GOOD HDL cholesterol. This includes fatty fish, olives, flax seeds and avocados. My next tip is to drink ALCOHOL. Or to be precise, one glass of red wine a day. Again, research suggests it can raise HDL cholesterol by as much as 15% and help get your cholesterol to a healthy ratio. My final tip is to try CHELATION therapy. This was first developed to remove heavy metals from the arteries of factory workers. However, doctors were amazed to discover it can help flush out cholesterol plaque as well, and has been found to lower the risk of heart disease for 9 out of 10 people. In this short video I’m only scratching the surface on how to get your cholesterol to a healthy ratio and lower your risk of a heart attack or stroke. On the Erudite Lifestyle website we explain in detail how to flush toxic cholesterol plaque from your arteries, to lower your blood pressure and improve your all round health. We also reveal why cholesterol may not be the #1 cause of heart attacks at all. And what you need to ask your doctor to check for instead. HDL Cholesterol & Heart Disease Risk

01:58
High-density lipoprotein (HDL), also known as "good cholesterol", can help prevent narrowing or clogged arteries by removing bad cholesterol. However, Cleveland Clinic researchers have found that some enzymes in the blood can make HDL cholesterol dysfunctional and increase the risk of plaque buildup and heart problems. Learn how Cleveland Clinic is hoping to develop a blood test to measure the level of dysfunctional HDL cholesterol to better estimate a person's risk for heart disease.

This doctor speaks of exercising - it brings down the LDL and increases the HDL - that I can see. Then she speaks to the saturated fat - and says that it is converted to 'bad cholesterol' and immediately says that you 'should avoid things like butter'. [This is the first thing' that is spoken about our foods with regard to cholesterol health and the first damaging proposition. Our bodies need the cholesterol from pure butter, beef and the yellows of eggs.] She does recommend Olive Oil - however, she recommends margarine. Margarine should not be used by us. Then she says to 'adopt a low fat diet' - and this is not accurate. There's another difficulty that has arisn in our minds - with regard to our heatlh. But our brains need these fats. And 'eating a very high fiber diet' this one, I don't know how it is adverse for us - but I know it's not the right thing. Fiber from fruits, vegetables and nuts would be safe. Unnatural fibers or fiber from grains, in high quantities wouldn't be the best. Then she speaks to a 'cholesterol lowering drink' which would contain plant sterols. She says they reduce total and increase the HDL. This is probably done by many. Hmmm. She says taht you will generally get about 6 months to try this - that happened for me. But- how I increase my HDL is with eggs (three a day - with ~ 2 Tablespoons of olive oil on them. And a supplement like an Omega 3,6,9. If and when I take these; my HDL has been 83 - which my doctor says; 'offsets' the LDL. And he is happy with that. ~~~Nancy Gurish Your Health And Tech Friend Magazine Please see all info below! 100% Natural Ways To Lower Cholesterol And Prevent Heart disease

03:33
Cholesterol is made in your liver and has many important functions. For example, it helps keep the walls of your cells flexible and is needed to make several hormones. However, like anything in the body, too much cholesterol in the wrong places creates problems. Like fat, cholesterol does not dissolve in water. Instead, its transport in the body depends on molecules called lipoproteins, which carry cholesterol, fat and fat-soluble vitamins in the blood. Different kinds of lipoproteins have different effects on health. For example, high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) result in cholesterol deposits in blood vessel walls, which can lead to clogged arteries, strokes, heart attacks and kidney failure. In contrast, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) helps carry cholesterol away from vessel walls and helps prevent these diseases. Here are 6 natural ways to increase the “good” HDL cholesterol and lower the “bad” LDL cholesterol. 1.Focus on Monounsaturated Fats Monounsaturated fats may reduce the oxidation of lipoproteins, which contributes to clogged-arteries. Monounsaturated fats are healthy because they decrease harmful LDL cholesterol, increase good HDL cholesterol and reduce harmful oxidation. few great sources of monounsaturated fats are: olive-oil, canola-oil, tree nuts and avocados. 2.Eat Soluble Fiber Soluble fiber is a group of different compounds in plants that dissolve in water and that humans can’t digest. However, the beneficial bacteria that live in your intestines can digest soluble-fiber. In fact, they require it for their own nutrition. These good-bacteria, also called probiotics, reduce both harmful kinds of lipoproteins, LDL and VLDL. 3.Limit your intake of foods full of saturated fats and trans fats. Foods with a lot of saturated fat include butter, fatty flesh like red-meat, full-fat and low-fat dairy products, palm-oil, and coconut-oil. If you see partially hydrogenated fat in the Ingredient List of a food label, that food has trans fats. 4.Exercise Exercise is a win-win for heart health. Not only does it improve physical fitness and help combat obesity, but it also reduces harmful LDL and increases beneficial HDL. In one study, twelve weeks of combined aerobic and resistance exercise reduced the especially harmful oxidized LDL in 20 overweight women. While even low-intensity exercise like walking increases HDL, making your exercise longer and more intense increases the benefit. 5.Lose Weight Dieting influences the way your body absorbs and produces cholesterol. Weight loss reduces total cholesterol, in part by decreasing the creation of new cholesterol in the liver. Weight loss has had different, though generally beneficial, effects on HDL and LDL in different studies. 6.Choose protein-rich plant foods Choose protein-rich plant foods such as legumes or beans, nuts, and seeds over meat. Common legumes include lentils, peas, and beans, such as pinto beans, red beans, white beans, and soybeans. They’re full of nutritional riches and are a very healthy, protein-packed alternative to meat. Legumes help lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, blood sugar, and insulin levels, and may even lower cancer risk.

How to BOOST your GOOD CHOLESTEROL? Improve HDL Cholesterol to REDUCE Risk of STROKE & HEART ATTACK

11:23
Improve YOUR HDL / GOOD Cholesterol to REDUCE Risk of STROKE, HEART ATTACK & Cardiovascular Diseases - Can high HDL cause heart attack? This condition, called atherosclerosis, increases your risk for cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke. HDL, in contrast, is thought to remove cholesterol from arteries and carry it to the liver for removal from the body. What raises good cholesterol? Benefits can be seen with as little as 60 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise a week. In terms of diet, try to avoid trans fats, as they can increase LDL cholesterol and lower HDL cholesterol levels. ... Moderate use of alcohol has been linked with higher levels of HDL cholesterol. How do I lower my LDL and raise my HDL? Here are 8 healthy ways to raise your "good" HDL cholesterol. Consume olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil may be more healthful than processed olive oils. ... Follow a low-carb or ketogenic diet. ... Exercise regularly. ... Add coconut oil to your diet. ... Stop smoking. ... Lose weight. ... Choose purple produce. ... Eat fatty fish often. Dietary and Lifestyle Tips To Lower LDL Levels Limit your intake of foods full of saturated fats, trans fats, and dietary cholesterol. ... Eat a lot more fiber-rich foods (especially soluble fiber from foods like beans, oats, barley, fruits, and vegetables). Does high cholesterol cause strokes? Cholesterol is the fatty substance in the blood. It can be either produced by the body or be found in food. High cholesterol in the arteries can block normal flow to the brain and cause a stroke. With high cholesterol your risk for heart disease and atherosclerosis also increase. What foods are high in cholesterol to avoid? This is why it is best to limit the amount of foods we eat that are high in saturated fats such as: Butter. Ghee. Hard margarines. Lard, dripping and goose fat. Fatty meat and meat products such as sausages. Full fat cheese, milk, cream and yogurt. Coconut and palm oils and coconut cream. #HighCholesterol #Cholesterol #HeartDiseases

What Is LDL Cholesterol And Why It's Called The BAD Cholesterol

04:02
►http://drsam.co/yt/LowerYourCholesterol - See how my parents lowered their cholesterol 100% naturally and how you can do the same starting today! =============================================== What Is LDL Cholesterol Why Is It Bad And How Can I Lower It Quickly And Naturally?? =============================================== A comprehensive lipid panel or “Cholesterol” blood test, provides information about the amount of cholesterol carried by different lipoproteins in your blood. There are 5 major types of lipoproteins; -Chylomicrons (ky-lo-mi-crons) typically triglycerides -very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), -intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL), -low-density lipoprotein (LDL) -high-density lipoprotein (HDL). Today I’m going to quickly cover your LDL, which is called low-density lipoprotein because LDL particles tend to be less dense than other kinds of cholesterol particles. This type of cholesterol is produced primarily by your liver, which is an important fact for you to know and I’ll tell you why in a few seconds... Now, this LDL cholesterol and is very important in the creation of cell walls, your hormones, and digestive juices. So, LDL is needed for a healthy body. Unfortunately, LDL is also known as the “Bad Cholesterol” because when your LDL level is high, it can start to form a plaque-like substance on the walls of your cardiovascular system (arteries and veins), blocking the natural flow of blood and leaving you at severe risk for a heart attack and stroke As seen in the chart presented in the video! Your goal is to have “lower” LDL levels, which is the OPPOSITE of HDL (high-density lipoprotein)... and I’ll cover HDL in a different video. An easy way to remember this is to think of the “L” in LDL as LOW and the “H” in HDL as HIGH And thus your goal is to have lower LDL and higher HDL How To Lower Your “Bad’ LDL Cholesterol A proper diet and exercise will help improve your LDL levels…. And i’ll discussed these two topics in detail in a different video. But what’s important to know is that as stated earlier, most of your cholesterol is made in your liver (80%)… and NOT from the foods you eat. Now, this doesn’t mean you can go eat pizza and ice cream every day…. But most people are doing the WRONG things to improve their cholesterol levels And this is why most of us aren’t getting the positive results we expect And we’re frustrated with the lack of results and sadly, we give up and take harmful medications. I know this because this is exactly the problems I ran into with lowering my parent’s cholesterol, levels back in 1998 I talk about this in further detail in a special video that you can click to watch in the description area below this video.
