20 early warning signs that cancer is growing in your body 1. Wheezing/shortness of breath Lung cancer patients remember noticing this as one of their first symptoms but didn't initially connect it to cancer. 2. Frequent fevers or infections Frequently a sign of leukemia, a cancer of the blood cells that starts in bone marrow. It causes the marrow to produce abnormal white blood cells that hinder your body's infection-fighting abilities. 3. Difficulty swallowing Most commonly associated with throat cancer, but can be a good indicator of lung cancer too. 4. Weakness and fatigue Such a common symptom of cancer that it should be looked at in combination with other symptoms to determine which it is. 5. Feeling full and unable to eat This is a sign of ovarian cancer. A loss of appetite even when you haven't eaten for a while is a tip-off. 6. Anorexia Could be an early sign of pancreatic cancer. A sudden disgust for coffee, wine or smoking can be linked to this as well. 7. Rectal bleeding or blood in stool Common sign of colorectal cancer. Blood in the toilet should be a big enough sign to see a doctor immediately. 8. Lumps in the neck, underarm or groin area Swollen lymph nodes indicate changes in the lymphatic system which can lead to cancer. 9. Excessive bruising or bleeding that doesn't stop Suggests abnormalities with the platelets and red blood cells, which can be a sign of leukemia. Leukemia cells crowd out red blood cells impairing your blood's ability to carry oxygen leading to clots. 10. Bloating or abdominal weight gain Ovarian cancer patients reported unexplained bloating that came on suddenly and continued for a significant amount of time. 11. Unexplained weight loss An early sign of colon and other digestive cancers. Also a sign of cancer that has spread to the liver, affecting your appetite and the body's ability to get rid of waste. 12. A red, sore, or swollen breast Indicates inflammatory breast cancer, unexplained changes should be told to a doctor immediately. A nipple that appears flattened, inverted or turned sideways had also been noticed by patients diagnosed with breast cancer. 13. Swelling of facial features Lung cancer patients have reported noticing puffiness, swelling or redness of the face. Small cell lung tumors commonly block blood vessels in the chest preventing blood from flowing freely to the head. 14. Sore/lump on the skin that bleeds, becomes crusty or doesn't heal Different types of skin cancer (melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma) can cause these, so be aware of any odd-looking growths or spots. 15. Changes in nails A brown/black dot under the nail can indicate skin cancer. Pale or white nails can be a sign of liver cancer. "Clubbing", which is the enlargement of the fingers with nails that curve down over the tips, can be a sign of lung cancer. 16. Unusually heavy or painful periods, bleeding between periods A common sign of endometrial or uterine cancer. A transvaginal ultrasound should be considered if the problem persists. 17. Chronic cough or chest pain Leukemia and lung tumors (among others), show symptoms that can mimic a bad cough or bronchitis. Some patients also reported a chest pain that extended to the shoulder and down their arm. 18. Pelvic/Abdominal pain Pain and cramping in the pelvis can be linked with the bloating signs of ovarian cancer. Leukemia also does this because it enlarges the spleen. 19. Pain in back or lower right side Often an early sign of liver cancer. Breast cancer can also be found through this as a breast tumor can press backward into the chest or spread to the spine/ribs. 20. These changes could be warning signs of lymphatic cancer. 6. Over-bruising and excessive bleeding When platelets and red blood cells act abnormally, there becomes excessive bruising and bleeding. This symptom can be a sign of leukemia. 7. Constant fatigue Feeling weakness in your body, and constant fatigue are symptoms of several different kinds of cancer. You’ll need to examine these symptoms in conjunction with other ones as well. As a general rule, if you ever feel exhasuted to where you can barely move without any physical reason, see your doctor. 8. Bloating in the abdomen or localized weight gain Women with ovarian cancer reported having “inexplicable abdominal bloating.” They said this bloating and weight gain happened suddenly, and appeared, disappeared, and reappeared for a long time. 9. Loss of appetite and feeling full This symptom is a warning sign for ovarian cancer as well. A vast majority of women said they “just couldn’t eat,” even if it had been a while since their last meal. 10. Pain the pelvis or abdominal area Leukemia and ovarian cancer can cause abdominal and pelvic pain. 11. Bleeding from the rectum or blood in stool This is a symptom commonly found in those diagnosed with colon cancer. If you ever notice blood in your stool, it is advisable to schedule a visit to your physician. 12. The number of cells in a tissue is determined by the balance between cell division and cell death. Uncontrollable cell division leads to formation of abnormal growths called tumors. Tumors can be benign or malignant. Benign tumors are slow-growing and constrained by surrounding connective tissue so they do not spread to other organs. They can still be harmful or even kill by pressing on nearby nerves, brain tissue or blood vessels. Examples of benign tumor include pituitary tumors which may press on optic nerves and cause loss of vision. Cancers are malignant tumors - tumors that can spread beyond of the limit of original organ where it comes from and to other organs of the body. How cancer starts Cancer starts from damage in the DNA of a cell. This DNA damage is called mutation. Mutations happen when the cell duplicates its DNA prior to cell division and makes mistakes. These damages are usually detected and repaired before the cell can divide but sometimes, some of them may be ignored and transferred to daughter cells. If the mutation is located in one of many genes that control the cell cycle, it may affect the regulation of cell cycle in the cell carrying it, and make the cell divide faster than it supposed to. Usually, one mutation is not enough to cause cancer, but as it makes the cell cycle control less reliable, many more DNA damages/mutations would go unnoticed. Cancer is usually the result of accumulation of many mutations of genes involved in cell cycle control and DNA repair. This commonly happens over a long period of time, over many rounds of cell divisions, and this explains why cancers are more common in older people. Some people are said to be predisposed to cancer. This is because they are born with a mutation that makes them more likely to develop a certain type of cancer. This mutation alone is not enough to cause cancer but it starts the process of making cells cancerous. The person carrying it is one step further down the road towards developing a cancer than others who do not have the mutation. How cancer spreads Cancer cells do not stick together like normal cells, they move and invade nearby tissues, organs, this is local spread. They may also spread to further away organs by means of blood and lymph circulation, this is systemic spread. Metastasis is the spreading of cancers to non-adjacent organs. Cancer cells from the original tumor, or primary cancer, can break out and maybe taken up by a blood or a lymph vessel for a ride throughout the body. They can then squeeze out from the vessels into other tissues and start a new tumor growth in the new location which will become secondary cancer. Where do cancers usually spread and why? While travelling in the bloodstream, cancer cell usually stops at the first place where the vessel getting so narrow that it gets stuck. As blood flow from most organs goes to the capillaries of the lungs, this is where cancers spread the most. Lungs are indeed the most common site of secondary cancers. Likewise, while travelling in the lymphatic system, cancer cells commonly get stuck in nearest lymph nodes, where the vessels get narrower. This is the reason why surgeons usually remove nearby lymph nodes when removing tumors.

So, here's the thing. By now, we know that fasting is extremely powerful when it comes down to dictating how a cell uses energy, how a normal, healthy cell within the body uses energy. Basically, fasting will help a normal cell start to utilize fats as a fuel source significantly better through manipulation of the mitochondrial machinery within a cell. But let's take a look at how cancer cells are different from traditional cells, and in doing so, we understand exactly why fasting has such a profound effect on potentially treating cancer. So, here's the thing. Cancer cells cannot utilize aerobic metabolism. What does that mean? It means that cancer cells can't utilize fats as a fuel source. They can't create energy by combining oxygen with fat, whereas a normal cell in the body can. You see, cancer cells get almost all their energy through processes known as phosphorylation, which means it's the fermentation of glucose, or the fermentation of glutamine, that essentially ends up giving a cancer cell energy. What does that mean? That means that cancer cells thrive on glucose, sugar, carbohydrates. And this isn't a carbohydrate bashing session. Don't get me wrong. That's not what I'm doing at all. I'm just saying that a cancer cell is 10 times more likely to utilize that sugar in a negative way simply because the insulin receptors are 10 times more than they are on a traditional healthy human cell. So when it comes down to a healthy cell, a healthy cell can go ahead and utilize fats whenever it wants, whereas a cancer cell ends up saying wait a minute. I can't use fats. I'm just going to use more sugar and become more efficient at using sugar. To start making some more sense of this outside of just the whole glucose side of things, there was a study that University of Southern California conducted that was published in the journal called Cancer Cell, and this study took a look at gene expression, which is a pretty interesting thing. It took a look at regulatory T cells. See, in our body we have these things called T cells. They go around and they slap labels on foreign bodies to have other T cells come around later and kill them. It's what basically is our immune system and what basically fights off disease and foreign bodies. Cancer cells are essentially a foreign body, so when we have a cancer cell that comes into our body and it starts to proliferate, starts to metastasize, we end up having an up-regulation of T cell activity. We have a lot of T cells. But the other thing that we have to pay attention to is that our body is very good at adapting, and that means that even though cancer cells are bad, once they make a home in our body, our bodies welcome them in and do things to protect them, which means we start creating specific T cells that will actually protect the cancer cells. You ever wonder why cancer is so hard to fight? Because cancer does a really good job of hijacking our immune system and making it so that it's still really difficult to target, because every time we try to target a cancer cell, we're also targeting a healthy cell. So there are specific T cells that actually protect cancer cells, and through fasting, USC found that it ended up down-regulating specific gene expression of something known as the HO-1 gene inside a regulatory T cell. Researchers have discovered how clusters of cancer cells move around the body. Clumps of cancer cells that break off tumors and travel through the bloodstream to new sites in the body are known to spread cancer more efficiently than single cells. Many scientists believed, though, that hefty cell clusters were unable to squeeze through the body’s narrowest blood vessels. But according to a report by Sam Au of Harvard Medical School and colleagues in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, tumor cells go marching one by one in narrow blood vessels. By unfolding into a cellular chain, clusters of cancer cells can slide through capillary tubes less than 10 micrometers wide. The cells pass through the tubes in single file, each squeezing into an oblong shape and clinging to a neighbor or two. Researchers believe they have discovered how tumors are formed after tracking their development in real-time using advanced 3-D video technology. The process whereby cancer cells become tumors has been steadily tracked for the first time ever, say researchers at University of Iowa. Using 3-D video capture technology, the researchers tracked the movement of other cancerous--and healthy--breast tissue cells into tumors as they grew. According to a write-up of the findings, "The team discovered that cancerous cells actively recruit healthy cells into tumors by extending a cable of sorts to grab their neighbors—both cancerous and healthy—and reel them in. Moreover, the Iowa researchers report that as little as five percent of cancerous cells are needed to form the tumors, a ratio that heretofore had been unknown." David Soll, an author of the study, noted, “It’s not like things sticking to each other. It’s that these cells go out and actively recruit. It’s complicated stuff, and it’s not passive. No one had a clue that there were specialized cells in this process, and that it’s a small number that pulls all the rest in.” It was also observed that the tumor-creating cells used in the studies moved at twice the speed of cells that were healthy. It's hoped the findings will help scientists understand precisely how fast tumors are created and how to identify the precise cells that cause them--with an ultimate goal of developing effective antibodies.

Dr. Sophia Lunt explains how she intends to cut off cancer cells' survival potential, and pioneer a new way of halting their growth. Dr. Sophia Lunt began her training in metabolism at Princeton University, where she received her Ph.D. studying the metabolic consequences of the antibiotic drug trimethoprim. As a postdoctoral fellow at MIT, she focused on cancer metabolism, and was awarded the CDMRP PRCRP Visionary Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Department of Defense to support her research. She currently runs a research lab focused on cancer metabolism at Michigan State University. If cells in our bodies are infected by viruses, or become cancerous, then killer cells of the immune system identify and destroy the affected cells. Cytotoxic T cells are very precise and efficient killers. They are able to destroy infected or cancerous cells, without destroying healthy cells surrounding them. The Wellcome Trust funded laboratory of Professor Gillian Griffiths, at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, investigates just how this is accomplished. By understanding how this works, we can develop ways to control killer cells. This will allow us to find ways to improve cancer therapies, and ameliorate autoimmune diseases caused when killer cells run amok and attack healthy cells in our bodies." Cytotoxic T cells are just 10 microns in length: approximately one-tenth the width of a human hair. These movies are 92 times real time. The original footage shown was made by Alex Ritter, a PhD student on the NIH-OxCam programme, in the laboratory of Professor Gillian Griffiths at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research and the Department of Medicine of the Clinical School of the University of Cambridge. As I do not understand English, I cannot answer a question. In 1982, French composer Fabien Maman and Helene Grimal, a biologist at the National French Science Research Center, achieved amazing results from a joint study. They found that when healthy cells and uterine cancer cells placed in a petri dish were exposed to sound waves, the healthy cells did not change at all while the cancer cells changed in appearance. They began to shrink at sounds of 200 Hz, and as the frequency increased, the cells became round, and their color changed from red to pink. Surprisingly, when the sound frequency reached levels of 400 to 480 Hz, the cancer cells instead expanded and eventually burst. This sine wave frequency from 400 to 480 Hz would prove to be a kind of miracle frequency that kills and disintegrates cancer cells without harming normal cells. Specifically, the 444 Hz frequency is one of the “Solfeggio frequencies” capable of healing the body and mind. Now, there is a real chance that if this sound is applied directly to a cancerous area for a long period of time, the cancer cells will die and the disease cured. Loud volume increases this effect, but treatment is often administered with headphones placed directly to the affected area in consideration of surrounding patients. It is said that many cancer cells die after twenty minutes of applied radiation. Additionally, if you radiate drinking water with this frequency and drink a liter of it every day for 100 days or more, the healing effects will appear earlier. Besides mineral water, coffee or juice may also be vibrated to achieve this effect, but tea should be avoided because it cools the body. Cancer cell metabolism slows as the body warms and oppositely becomes more active as the body cools. Treatment and vibration water can be made not only with a personal computer but also using an iPad. It is this two-pronged approach of applying the frequency directly to the cancer-afflicted area to destroy cancer cells and flushing them out with vibration water that has the potential to cure cancer. Even those without cancer should do this once as a preventative measure. When tuning the reference frequency A from 440 Hz to 444 Hz, the music sounds less distorted and more elegant. Although this may not be related, it is nonetheless true that chords tuned to 444 Hz heal the mind and the body, whereas chords tuned to 440 Hz oppositely disrupt them. Scientists at the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA have developed a new technique for identifying cancer cells in blood samples faster and more accurately than the current standard methods. In one common approach to testing for cancer, doctors add biochemicals to blood samples. Those biochemicals attach biological “labels” to the cancer cells, and those labels enable instruments to detect and identify them. However, the biochemicals can damage the cells and render the samples unusable for future analyses. There are other current techniques that don’t use labeling but can be inaccurate because they identify cancer cells based only on one physical characteristic. The new technique images cells without destroying them and can identify 16 physical characteristics — including size, granularity and biomass — instead of just one. It combines two components that were invented at UCLA: a photonic time stretch microscope, which is capable of quickly imaging cells in blood samples, and a deep learning computer program that identifies cancer cells with over 95 percent accuracy.
