(4:17 is where the guy jumps off) In the early morning hours of June 16 I made another trek out to the MTS Blue Line to catch the San Diego and Imperial Valley's Blue Line manifest making it's usual run from San Ysidro to downtown San Diego. However, this night was not an ordinary night for me because there was a guy riding on the end of the train and at one of the trolley stations where I was set up he jumped off right in front of the camera! Shot 1: The northbound manifest crosses Palm Avenue in South San Diego with SD&IV 3GS21B Gensets #s 702 and 701 providing power. I only had a few seconds to set up before the gates were activated because I hung around the San Ysidro yard trying to determine if the train would be leaving, but I didn't have a clear view of it so I had to stay longer. Shot 2: At the 8th street trolley station there were track crews performing maintenance down the line, which forced the train to slow down. As it was coming one of the guys hanging out in the station decided he wanted to be famous and made some poses on the crossing. As the end of the train came up I could see someone standing on the end. Initially I thought it must have been a maintenance guy or a railroad employee, but the lack of a safety vest or any safety equipment made me quickly realize that it was a train hopper! I also saw him get ready to jump off, so I just watched in disbelief as he hopped off, lost his footing, and rolled across the ground! He was limping a little right after, but after I left he seemed to be just fine. Good thing the train was running slow. Shot 3: With its journey complete, the train pulls into the downtown yard. And before anyone asks, no I didn't call the cops or report him because I figured he probably has it hard enough already and he wasn't harming anyone but himself so I minded my own business. Besides, he hoped off at a station where there are cameras and an MTS crew truck actually pulled up and two guys got out so he probably did/will get questioned about it.

Welcome to the first part of a series in which I build a working HO-scale gravel loader. Before starting construction of the final structure, there are some preliminaries to get out of the way, hopper cars to build, a scenic base to mount it on, a mechanism to design and a lot of experimentation to do. Part 2 is available here: https://youtu.be/GmQF2AnZDZQ

Per a request from the OGR Forum, I brought down all of my Atlas ATSF PS4427 Grain hoppers and a trio of MTH scale-wheeled C40-8W diesels and ran a unit train. The cars are a mix of hi-rail and 2-rail I've collected over the past several years. At some point I'll convert the hi-rail cars to 2-rail but since I run at a 3-rail club it's not a high priority.

Check out live channel DCCTRAIN Live https://youtube.com/dcctrainlive First produced in 1974 by Bethlehem Steel as UP class H-100-10, production of a majority of the fleet occurred in UP’s Albina Shops in Portland OR between 1976 and 1981. Production of this important fleet ended with the H-100-23 class, after UP placed more than 6,400 of these “quad” hoppers in service in the rapidly-growing Western low-sulfur coal market. While these models match UP’s largest fleet of coal hoppers, thanks to strong demand from our customers, Tangent Scale Models we also offer paint schemes that are similar to quad hoppers used by other railroads. With these cars wandering far beyond just UP rails in both unit and carload services, consider adding some of these replicas to your layout or collection. We have produced 13 different paint schemes for 2018: Our motto is “Unparalleled scale replicas for discriminating railroad modelers”. We hope you’ll agree! Our Bethlehem Quad Hopper replicas include: Highly accurate “true to life” colors Exact fonts and lettering placement Painted, scale-sized wire grabirons and coupler lift bars for strength and durability Air hoses Thin-profile brake piping See-through etched metal brake platforms L-shaped end-sheet supports Interior bracing detail Highly-detailed hopper bay outlet gates “Narrow appearance” coupler box with Kadee® scale couplers Ready-to-operate model with hidden weights Tangent 100-ton N-11 trucks with free-rolling metal wheels A “Tangent-accurate” non-symmetrical, properly-sloped coal load Dimensional accuracy – scaled from prototype plans Car number selection process – we select car numbers from online or published sources, focusing on late era numbers to represent more than 35 years in continuous operation.

Welcome Back! Have a look at the tools and techniques needed to build highly detailed model kits. Greatly detailed model railroading results on an extreme budget! See the build process from start to finish before you tackle an advanced kit. The techniques shown here can be used in other hobbies as well. In this how to video you'll see first hand unboxing and kit review, parts inspection and instructions overview, trimming and filing, and assembly. Tips and techniques for making your kit building experience enjoyable! Also shown are additional user added details, heavy weighing, and coupler replacement. Building kits can save big money, as the rail car in this video was purchased in a 2-pack for under $20 US, less than ten buck per car. These cars are highly detailed, comparable to Ready To Run cars of 3 or 4 times the cost! Build your rolling stock roster the inexpensive way. Filmed on location at the Southern Pacific Burbank Branch, a proto-freelance small shelf layout based on the now defunct rail line the crossed the San Fernando Valley until the mid-1990s. Most of the rolling stock is kit built and super detailed using household materials, and most of the structures are scratch built. The switching layout is designed to be expanded at each end, time and space permitted. Thank you for supporting the hobby and this channel! Please like, subscribe, and share! I had recieved word that a SD80MAC was moving some hoppers around Sumner Street Yard (Ex-Wabash) to assemble into a train for Homestead Yard. The plan was to chase the train across East Toledo into Homestead, but all was lost. The loaded hoppers turned shunting into a fight, and the backwards movement up a slight incline caused the 5,000 Horsepower to slip with sand on the rails! Turn up the volume, sit back and enjoy!

In this video we talk about model railroad yards--design for operations. Yard operations can be one of the most challenging and fun aspects of operations on your #model #railroad #layout. If you design for #operations before building your model railroad #yard it will operate more efficiently and cause less frustration. ✅ RTNT Amazon Page: https://www.amazon.com/shop/ronstrainsnthings ✅ Amazon Pick of the Week: http://amzn.to/2Dvnl4i (NOTE: The above are Amazon affiliate links: I make a small commission from any purchased made through these links.) ✅Take advantage of the rewards for your support of Ron's Trains N Things through Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/RonsTrainNThings 🔶LDSig Layout Design Primer--Yards: http://macrodyn.com/ldsig/wiki/index.php?title=Yards--freight_and_passenger Thanks to my Patreon friends. 🔼 Heroes: David H.--sparky107107 https://www.youtube.com/user/sparky107107 🔼 Partners: Todd Walton--Wally's Weathering https://www.youtube.com/user/2toady Chuck Hedler--Chazco https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnWYbzAL3DNKCNChVQpD4RA Roy Hardwick--CONTAINERMAN68 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJtmr5BFzAd9Pouf0qXrSYg 🔼 Patrons: Wendell Camp 🔼Thanks to my PayPal.me supporters: Bruce Giroux, Johannes Maeding ✅ You can support this channel through PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/RonsTrainsNThings Your support is greatly appreciated. I spotted this freight train while I was coming back from the Railroadania Show up at Elk Grove. The Union Pacific Railroad's "Techny Sub" follows Elmhurst/York Road for a few miles which is where I saw this southbound hopper train. I parked near the Benesenville Metra Station and wandered across York just in time to get a number of decent video clips as the train approached. I wasn't expecting a DPU and I caught that after I was back in the Buick. My plan was to drive over to Franklin Park and I caught the same train again down where the old Wolf Road viaduct used to be..... (it burned before I was even born!) I got a tiny bit luck as I had an OK vertical meet. That is, as the UP power was crossing over the CP, a CP freight came out from under the viaduct! The CP train is slightly obscured by all the demolition crap caused by the coming new tollway. The train ended up parking just south of that last clip location. I saw it when I got back from franklin Park. I thought about titling this thing something like "Embankment Train," as the entire time it is on camera, the train is running these long, ridge-like hills. Oh, something else..... I think there is an airfield somewhere near here......?

Hi Everybody, welcome to my new layout! This month: - Intermountain Railway Company Special Run CP ES44AC "Ex-Olympic" exclusively from Prairie Shadows. Very nicely done by Intermountain and the ESU Loksound is great. http://www.prairieshadows.com - Intermountain ACF 4650 3 bay hoppers in the Prairie Malt scheme. A foobie car by IMR but a welcome stand in for the Trenton works 5250 cu. ft. hopper of which a high quality model has yet to be made. - Moved into our new place and all my train stuff is now in the new basement. Next up is to order some high quality LED strip lighting to do some tests and come up with the best way to light the layout. - A Saskatchewan newspaper from 1958 featuring a full page ad from Canadian Pacific explaining the dispute between the union and the railway on making the fireman's position obsolete.

Just a test on my layout that's still work in progress. I wanted to see how the layout looks on video. Ignore the micro-machines, these are just placeholders. Layout is n scale freelanced around the fictitious town of Hutchinson in Canada on the border of NY. The town of Hutchinson is near the fictitious St-Paul Cardinal CSX yard. The St-Paul Cardinal (SPC) yard will be the expansion of my current layout. Cars are from Prairie Shadows. They are RVPR Hoppers and the loco is an Atlas ALCO C420 that I've weathered lightly. The loco will eventually get CSX lettering. The C420 is the local road switcher.

CSX K256 16 runs north through the siding at Ardmore, Alabama. This is just yards south of the Alabama / Tennessee state line. The dispatcher has the train lined through the siding, but there is no meet here. Plans changed and the dispatcher didn't have time to change the signals and switches. The locomotives are UP 7636, UP 4817 and UP 8594.

With very few horsepower to spare, four locomotives give it everything they've got to move 19246 ton CP 601-036 up the 1% grade north track at Lake Louise, Alberta. The sharp looking blue cars rolling over the Pipestone River are loaded with Saskatchewan potash from the new K+S mine in Bethune, SK. I left the footage uncut for posterity since the cars are relatively new and I plan on using the audio in the future for my layout. If you get tired of watching this slow moving, 135 car, mammoth of a train the mid train robot goes by around 4:27 and the rear robot around 8:40. The dumper was scratch built by Jules H. as a featured attraction on the Garden State Central Model Railroad Club layout in Asbury Park, NJ. http://www.gardenstatecentral.com/ As seen in the April, 2009 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman magazine. Full hoppers are pushed up the hill on the right and into the dumper. The dumper picks the car up and flips is upside down to dump out the coal. Then it rights and lowers the car. When the next full hopper is pushed into the dumper, it forces the empty car out and down the kick-back track to the empties yard. We now offer 2 different T-Shirt designs of the McMyler Dumpers from Jersey City. http://www.zazzle.com/gardenstatecentral?rf=238210738494216975&zbar=true

Amazing scenery is accompanied by 90s grunge music arranged for piano.

This video is designed to help educate operators who will be dispatching on the Willow Creek Railroad. For other viewers, this video gives a good look at how dispatching is done on the layout during operation sessions. Various operations scenarios are presented with recommendations how the Dispatcher might handle each of them. The video assumes that the viewer is familiar with the Willow Creek's track plan and how trains are operated on the layout, as shown in earlier videos. Use of the custom Dispatcher's Control Panel is described in detail.

More videos from this line will be published in coming weeks.

Please Read Welcome back to the layout youtube, this is modeltrain9500. Not a lot has changed on my HO scale train layout, but there have been some rolling stock and operational changes. I have decided the dimensions of my new layout, it will be a 12x16x2. I will have at least 2 mainlines, a grainery, coal mine, and maybe cement plant. I have almost all of my ho BNSF locomotives on one table. My athearn genesis sd60m, sd70ace, atlas silver dash 8-40cw in Warbonnet scheme, and my intermountain es44ac in the BNSF H3 scheme. I plan to get an es44dc in BNSF H2. I would like to ask you guys how mainlines work. I dont know what direction the trains go on each side. If you people could tell me that would be great. Any help will be greatly appreciated and may impact the developement of my new layout. Lastly, I have confirmed that intermountain goofed up, and missed the orange rim that was supposed to be on the nose of the BSNF GEVO's. Additionally, I have weatherd my HO scale Accurail ACF 3 bay centerflow hoppers. If you look at my last video you will see what they looked like before being weathered. I think they turned out great, but i would appreciate hearing from you to see what you all think. I plan to get some more of these, and replace the couplers with kadee no 148's. The couplers that came with the hoppers are good, but too large for the accurail coupler boxes. I have relocated the accurail couplers to locomotives and rolling stock across the rest of the layout. I am very happy with the cars now with properly fitting couplers. thanks for watching and look for more videos in the future! -Modeltrain9500
