KETO Diet Menu Plan to Lose Weight In Just 7 Days
Keto Diet Menu to Lose Weight Fast. The ketogenic diet has pretty much everything you need to get the body of your dreams in no time. Among the proven health benefits of this diet are weight loss, mental focus, increased energy, controlled blood sugar, stabilized blood pressure, and so many more. While this diet seems like a dream come true, not everyone can follow it. If you have diabetes or high blood pressure and take medication for your condition, the ketogenic diet isn’t for you. TIMESTAMPS How does the ketogenic diet work? 0:41 Different types of ketogenic diet. 2:11 Foods you should base your meals around. 3:15 Foods you should avoid. 3:59 7-day ketogenic meal plan 5:01 Unpleasant side effects you might face 10:09 Health benefits of ketogenic diet 10:51 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -When you follow the ketogenic diet, it becomes easier for your system to get access to your fat stores and burn them off. As a result, you lose weight incredibly fast. -There are actually a few versions you can choose from depending on your preferences: standard ketogenic diet, cyclical ketogenic diet, targeted ketogenic diet, high-protein ketogenic diet. -You should base the majority of your meals around these foods and ingredients: meat, fatty fish, pastured or omega-3 whole eggs, grass-fed butter and cream, unprocessed cheese, nuts and seeds, healthy oils, low-carb vegetables, healthy herbs and spices. -As for the foods you should avoid under any circumstances, they are: sugary foods, fruits, grains or starches, beans or legumes, root vegetables and tubers, products labelled “low-fat” or “diet”, unhealthy fat, alcohol. -Use this 7-day ketogenic meal plan as a model to build your own plan. The good news is that you can have coffee, cupcakes, bacon, sausage and other things you probably love as long as you balance it all up. -The biggest side effect is keto flu, the symptoms of which include poor energy and mental function, increased hunger, sleep issues, nausea, and digestive discomfort. -This diet can decrease the risk of developing heart disease by stabilizing blood sugar and blood pressure levels as well as increasing the “good cholesterol” in your blood. Ketosis: Post Workout Carb Timing: Thomas DeLauer
Be Sure to Subscribe to my Channel for 3x Videos per Week! http://www.thomasdelauer.com Ketosis: Post Workout Carb Timing: Thomas DeLauer Ketosis Overview When the body turns to burning fat it creates molecules called ketones Ketones are created when the body breaks down fats, creating fatty acids, and burned off in the liver in a process called beta-oxidation End result of this process is the creation of ketones, which are used as fuel by the muscles and brain In simpler terms, since you have no more glucose or glycogen, ketosis kicks in and your body will use your stored/consumed fat as energy Pre/Post Workout Nutrition Studies have looked at post workout timing and its effects on strength and hypertrophy Show that as long as you’re getting enough of the right nutrients throughout the day, you’re not going to see much added benefit from a perfectly timed post workout meal Whether you’re in ketosis or not, a proper daily intake will work the same as a perfectly timed post workout meal While on a ketogenic diet, the focus should be on maintaining ketones so that you have an adequate supply and to refrain from dipping in and out of ketosis (1) Carbs and Ketosis Carb Intake for Different Styles of Training While in Keto Cardio-Based Training Those who do a lot of cardio – running, biking, marathons, etc. don’t need to worry about carb intake Studies show that aerobic training (endurance training) isn’t affected by low carbohydrate diets A study was done on well-trained cyclists who were on a ketogenic diet for 4 weeks Results showed that aerobic endurance was not compromised at all. Their bodies adapted through ketosis, limiting both glucose and glycogen stores, and using fats as the predominant energy source. Even if you are doing very long cardio training, marathons and biking included, a ketogenic diet has been proven to be sustainable (2) Weight training and Carb-upping Carb intake may change if you lift weights The only real time where ketosis can give performance loss is in exercises that need an explosive action If you need a little boost in your performance during these, you can “carb-up” Carbohydrates do help your performance and also help with recovery of muscles. That means faster gains, and better strength performance in your training sessions There are two routes you can take here – TKD and CKD TKD A targeted ketogenic diet, where you’re intaking just enough carbs before your workout to knock you out of ketosis for the duration of your workout How it works is that you supply a glycogen source to your muscle to use, and then once it is used up after you finish your workout you will resume a ketotic state. • Could cause you to feel sick some of the time by being in the grey area of in/out of ketosis. CKD A cyclical ketogenic diet, and is a more advanced technique It’s more for bodybuilding and competitors that want to stay on a ketogenic diet while still building muscle In this method, you stay on a regular ketogenic diet for a period of time (usually 5 days) and then do what is known as a carb-up for a period of time (1-2 days) In a CKD, you are essentially replenishing all of your glycogen stores for all the training you’ll do for the rest of the week, and your goal is to deplete that glycogen – essentially a refeed period (3,4) In Summation Research suggests that carbs consumed before or after exercise should not negatively affect ketosis However, some individuals may find that they drop out of ketosis transiently due to the ingestion of pre-workout carbohydrates After a workout, there will be a short period where insulin is elevated and free fatty acid availability for ketone production is decreased However, as blood glucose is pushed into the muscles, insulin should drop again allowing ketogenesis to resume within several hours Post-workout carbs might be expected to have a greater effect on ketosis, in that insulin levels will most likely be higher than are seen with pre-workout carbs • Kicks you out of ketosis easier because insulin sensitivity is so high after a workout So individuals may want to experiment with pre-workout carbs first References 1) The human metabolic response to chronic ketosis without caloric restriction: preservation of submaximal exercise capability with reduced carbohydra... - PubMed - NCBI. Will Fruit Make you Fat? How to Monitor Fructose- Thomas DeLauer
Will Fruit Make you Fat? How to Monitor Fructose Lately, I've had a lot of people asking me to do a video on how carbohydrates work, specifically, how fruit works within the body. You see, fruits got this bad rep. We all seem to think that fruit is horrible because it's a sugar, and it's a carb, and we're living in the low carb generation and yada, yada. The thing is, fruits are important. Come on. They've got a lot of vitamins, they've got a lot of things that we need, and let's not forget the simple fact that they're low calorie. Watch this video to learn the best time of day to eat your fruit! Head over to http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com for more videos and blogs! When it all comes comes down to it, I know some people will disagree, but it is somewhat of a calories in versus calories out game. I want to tell you in this video when you can eat your fruit to get the most effect from it and to make sure that that fructose, the sugar that is found in fruit, doesn't get converted into fat. Before I tell you the best time to eat your fruit, I want to explain how carbohydrates are stored and how they're somewhat metabolized within the body. You see, carbs are important source of energy for us. They're important for brain function, they're important for muscle function. Learn the best times to eat your foods and how they effect you at http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com When you consume carbohydrates, they're stored in the body in one of two forms. They're either stored as muscle glycogen or liver glycogen. What that means is it's a stored form of carbohydrate. Your body will either shuttle those carbohydrates into storage within the muscle or into storage within the liver. The difference is that glucose or the simple monosaccharides that come from regular starches and things like that, those are shuttled in as muscle glycogen and only muscle glycogen. Then you've got fructose. Fructose is shuttle in to the liver as liver glycogen. Glucose will not replenish liver glycogen or liver carbohydrates stores and fructose will not replenish muscle glycogen or muscle carbohydrates stores. It's that simple. There's no crisscrossing. The liver can usually only hold roughly two to three glasses of orange juice worth of fructose or worth of carbohydrates. Whereas the muscles, obviously, you've got a lot more of them throughout your body can hold significantly more. You can get away with eating more starches or more regular sugars or other kinds of glucose than you can fructose. You see, what happens is when you consume too much fructose, the liver glycogen gets full and it triggers an insomatic process that tells the body to start storing the extra fructose as body fat. More often than not, it goes right to the midsection where we don't really want it. This is terrible if you're trying to get in the best possible shape. Well, let me tell you, if you crave some fruit, having it before your workout is probably going to be the best time. Why? Because the body is going to want to use that fructose first because it's readily available for energy. Before it's processed down the liver and stored it's glycogen, it's flown to the blood stream and readily available. The perfect time that you can use it when you're in the gym. Also, you're going to burn through that liver glycogen really quick. You might as well eat your fruit, let yourself have some fun and enjoy the fruit right before you go to the gym. One thing that a lot of people don't really know about is the fact that if your liver glycogen levels are low, we don't have a lot of those glycogens storage in your liver, your body has to produce alanine from the muscles. What that means is that your body starts breaking down the muscle tissue, which means that you can catabolize. You can loss that lean muscle tissue. We have to remember that lean muscle tissue, even if we're not trying to get bulky is ultimately what is going to help keep our metabolism sky rocketed so that we can burn more fat and have more energy throughout the day. They're you have it. Eating your fruit pre-workout is going to be not only help you spare some muscle and let you have your fruit, but it's also going to give you the energy that you need. Let's talk about when not to eat your fruit. You're not going to eat you fruit right after your workout. You see because after you've burn through that liver glycogen, your body starts pulling storage from the muscles. While the first place that your body is going to restore glycogen after a workout specifically is within the muscles. You want to restore the muscle glycogen first. After a workout, get the muscle glycogen filled up by eating starches, and regular glucose, and regular carbohydrates and leave the fruit out of the equation. Remember, it doesn't take much fruit to fill up the liver glycogen. We can take care of that later. What is the best diet for humans? | Eran Segal | TEDxRuppin
Prof. Eran Segal presented conclusions from the research on the TEDxRuppin stage and made us question common dietary beliefs. For additional information see http://genie.weizmann.ac.il New research led by Prof. Eran Segals and Dr. Elinavs research unit indicates a drastic change in blood sugar levels between two individuals on identical diets - this may explain why some struggle to lose weight while others, on the same diet, stay lean and fit. The scientists even developed an algorithm that can calculate ones blood level based on his or her biology and lifestyle. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Insulin and Weight loss ➠ How to Control & Lower Insulin Resistance Levels Fat Loss Diabetes Leptin
Everything you need to know about Insulin and Weight Loss. In this video I reveal how to control and lower insulin resistance. Lower your insulin levels and battle diabetes with diet and exercise. 🔥 FREE 6 Week Challenge: https://gravitychallenges.com/home65d4f?utm_source=ytube&utm_term=insulin Fat Loss Calculator: http://bit.ly/2O5Dxzw Insulin and weight loss. What exactly makes these two so dependent on each other? If you dig through a little bit of fat loss research you'll see right away that insulin is very closely connected with burning fat and losing weight. In fact without reducing insulin there is almost no way we can burn a substantial amount of fat no matter how hard we exercise and diet. And even though most people have heard about insulin spikes not being good for weight loss the average person doesn't truly understand why. Well my hope is that today I can explain this in a way that anybody can understand. It all starts with you eating food. When you eat food the chewed up food particles get broken down further in your stomach into very small parts and then they pass through your intestines at which point your body absorbs and breaks down those nutrients and calories again and dumps them into your bloodstream. These broken down nutrients can't just jump into the cells that need them for their daily functions without some help. That's where insulin comes in. Insulin is a hormone secreted by your pancreas and it gets released into your bloodstream when your body senses that blood sugar has increased. Very high blood sugar levels are not good for you and your body knows this. So insulin acts as a bridge between your cells and the sugar found floating around in your blood. Without insulin your blood sugar would be very high because your body wouldn't be able to get that sugar into the cells. This is actually pretty much what type 2 diabetes is. When people are insulin resistant which means that insulin isn't doing its job they usually wind up being labeled as a type 2 diabetic which means that they need an external source of insulin for example either a shot or a pill to get their blood sugar down. So what does all of this have to do with fat loss and weight loss. Well whether you eat pasta brown rice or drink a can of soda all of it will eventually be broken down and it will be blood sugar floating around in your bloodstream. The only difference is that whole high-fiber carbs like brown rice will take a lot longer to digest which means that the sugar will be released into your bloodstream slowly while the can of soda will pretty much be released all at once. When it's released into your bloodstream slowly you give your body a chance to actually use it overtime so you won't require quite as much insulin which leads to less of it being stored as fat. Before insulin starts storing blood glucose into fat cells it will first store as much of it as possible into your liver for later use. The liver can only hold a limited amount of blood sugar and then the excess starts to get dumped off into your muscle cells. Now your muscle cells can hold more of this glucose then your liver can however it also has its limit. By building more muscle you're going to be able to increase this limit and use more of the blood sugar for your muscles rather than storing it as fat, however again even the most muscular person on the planet is going to have a limit of how much of this blood glucose can actually be used by the muscles. Once that limit is reached we hit a point called spillover where the sugar that came from mostly carbohydrates in your diet will begin to be stored in fat cells in order to lower the sugar found in your blood stream to normal levels. So insulin is an anabolic hormone that causes weight gain and growth. The opposite hormone to insulin is a catabolic hormone known as glucagon which is released when blood sugar drops too low. Glucagon just like insulin goes in and acts as a bridge between the stored energy in your cells and your bloodstream. Except it has the inverse effect. So it pulls energy from your cells and dumps it into the bloodstream. Before your body will start pulling fat from fat cells for energy it will first pull that stored glucose from your liver and your muscle cells. This is why so many low carb diets work. When you don't have that many carbs it's easy for your body to use up the carbs stored in your muscles and your liver and then proceed straight to burning fat for energy. This is the same reason why ketogenic diets work. Except an added benefit to ketogenic diets is that your body becomes more efficient at using fat for energy which means more fat will burnt.

How Does Whey Protein Affect Fat Loss and Insulin - Thomas DeLauer
Click Here to Subscribe: http://Bit.ly/ThomasVid Get Antler Farms Grass-Fed Whey Protein Here: https://www.antlerfarms.com/new-zealand-whey-protein-isolate.htm Website: http://ThomasDeLauer.com How Does Whey Protein Affect Fat Loss and Insulin: Yep, whey protein can cause an increase in insulin, just like sugar! Learn about how it works! http://www.thomasdelauer.com How does whey protein affect insulin and fat loss? Isn't whey a protein, not a carb?? Effect of Whey Protein on Insulin Whey is one of the two main proteins in milk - the other is casein. Whey, like all proteins, is made up of amino acids, the building blocks of protein. When we consume protein, we then break down these amino acids and use them for muscle growth and tissue repair. Whey contains all three BCAAs along with all of the essential amino acids. Whey is highly insulinogenic - consuming whey leads to a sharp increase in insulin levels. This response does not have to do with blood sugar levels - when a food has a high glycemic index, consuming it will cause a large increase in blood sugar levels. In response to this, the body produces insulin to combat the high blood sugar and allow glucose to enter our cells for energy. This is not what is happening when we consume whey - insulin release is responding to amino acids, not glucose levels. Insulin binds to cells to allow them to take up energy, which can be glucose or amino acids from proteins. The amino acids in whey cause an insulin release. Whey also leads to the release of GIP and GLP-1, two gastrointestinal hormones that also raise insulin levels. This increase in insulin is actually a good thing! Whey is a fast acting protein, and the spike in insulin allows amino acids into the muscle cells to encourage repair, helping us to gain muscle and heal quickly. Consuming whey protein has actually been shown to lower blood glucose levels when consumed during or directly before a meal. A 2005 study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that when whey was combined in a high-sugar meal, individuals with type-2 diabetes had a lower blood glucose level following the meal than if no whey was consumed. This is thought to be because the increased insulin aided the body in glucose digestion. Generally, the better the whey, the higher the insulin spike and thus the more effective at delivering building blocks into the cells for the purpose or repair and growth. Best to consume whey directly following exercise. It is quickly broken down and made available to muscle cells for repair post workout. Whey protein isolate contains 90% protein and thus has less lactose, fat and cholesterol than whey protein concentrate. To get the most out of your protein, go for the whey protein isolate. You will experience less bloating and get more of the benefits - lean, ripped muscles. Too much protein is dangerous, so be sure not to consume excess protein. Excess protein can lead to increased fat storage and calcium loss, which can lead to osteoporosis. References: 1. Please Subscribe for 3x Videos Per Week + Live Broadcasts! http://ThomasDeLauer.com Training While Fasting: How to Avoid Insulin Resistance- Thomas DeLauer… Insulin Overview: Insulin is a hormone made in the pancreas and the pancreas contains groups of cells called islets - Beta cells within the islets make insulin and release it into the blood. Insulin plays a major role in metabolism - The digestive tract breaks down carbs into glucose. Insulin helps cells throughout the body absorb glucose and use it for energy. Insulin helps muscle, fat, and liver cells absorb glucose from the bloodstream, lowering blood glucose levels. Glucose levels are tightly controlled by insulin so that the rate of glucose production by the liver is matched by the rate of use by the cells. Insulin helps muscle, fat, and liver cells absorb glucose from the bloodstream, lowering blood glucose levels (allows glucose, amino acids, and creatine to enter the muscles) Insulin stimulates the liver and muscle tissue to store excess glucose (1) Insulin Resistance: In insulin resistance, muscle, fat and liver cells do not respond properly to insulin and cannot easily absorb glucose from the bloodstream - the body has to produce higher amounts to keep the blood glucose levels within a normal range. In other words, a person's body won’t be producing enough insulin to meet their needs because the body’s cells have become resistant to insulin. The cells aren’t as responsive to insulin and don’t “allow” enough glucose from the blood into the cells - Glucose remains in the bloodstream, causing high blood glucose levels. Study: A study published in the Journal of Diabetes and its Complications looked at the prevalence of insulin resistance in the United States during the periods 1988 -1994 and 1999-2002 - Found that 32.2% of the US population may be insulin resistant. Main Cause of Insulin Resistance: Insulin is released when the body has just been fed, which halts the body's burning of stored fat - also works on fat cells similar to how it works on muscle cells, opens them up for storage. This may be caused by fatty acid metabolites building up inside muscle cells, termed “intramyocellular fat” that disrupts the signaling pathways needed for insulin to work. Insulin is closely associated with obesity and weight gain, but it can also result in prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. (3) Insulin Sensitivity: When insulin is lowered, your body does not get the message to replenish fat and glycogen - means you are insulin sensitive and your body only requires a small amount of insulin in order to deposit glucose to your cells. Not only does insulin sensitivity promote weight loss, it also promotes healthy brain, artery, and pancreatic cells as they are no longer exposed to high levels of blood sugar for an elongated period of time. High blood pressure (which can result from insulin resistance) puts strain on your heart, increasing your risk of angina, hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart attack and heart failure. Ways to Reduce Insulin Resistance: - Lower your caloric intake (and carbs) - Exercise that burns glycogen and leaves your muscles empty (fasted training a +) - I.F. and Ketosis Magnesium: Magnesium improve and helps correct insulin sensitivity because an intracellular enzyme, called tyrosine kinase, requires magnesium to allow insulin to exert its blood-sugar-lowering effects. Study measured magnesium effects in non-diabetics with metabolic syndrome. Doctors followed 234 participants with three of five metabolic syndrome symptoms; abdominal obesity, high blood pressure or high fasting blood sugar, high triglycerides or low levels of HDL. After 12 months, only one in four met the recommended daily allowance for magnesium which ranges from 320 mg to 420 mg per day. Compared to those who got the least, those who got the most magnesium were 71 percent less likely to have insulin resistance. References: 1) Prediabetes & Insulin Resistance | NIDDK. (n.d.). The Truth About The Post-Workout Window - Why You DON'T Need To Eat After Working Out!
Train For The Body You Deserve: http://go.sixpackabs.com/scien8d18 What's going on, guys? It's Thomas Delauer here for Day #1 of SCIENCE TAKE OVER WEEK here at SixPackAbs.com. Today, we're going to be talking about that post-workout window - that 30-minute "special window" right when you finish your workout - that actually doesn't exist. Here's what I'm talking about: 1:24 - Recent science has shown that this post-workout window is actually much bigger than you think. 1:39 - Protein Synthesis: When you finish the workout, you've torn down the muscle fibers and depleted glycogen stores, so you'd think that then is the best time to get a protein-dense meal or supply in, right? Actually, you have a much longer window, 4 hours post-workout and upwards of 24 hours. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8563679 3:46 - Nutrient Timing Study: A group of 33 individual males were tested with protein nutrient timing relative to a time of the day and after a workout. What matters at the end of the day is getting the protein in within 24 hours after working out and training hard. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3577439/ This is just Day #1 of SCIENCE TAKE OVER WEEK here, so make sure to like, share, and subscribe to SixPackAbs.com right now and have notifications turned on - you don't want to miss anything. Thanks for tuning in, guys, and make sure to keep it locked in here at SixPackAbs.com. What Will Happen If You Start Eating Oats Every Day
Doctors and nutritionists highly recommend making oatmeal a part of your diet and having it as your healthy morning meal. The secret is simple: good-quality environmentally-friendly oats help you feel and look better on the inside and out. Oats have some unique properties thanks to the wide variety of vitamins and minerals they contain. Zinc helps cleanse the skin and remove toxins and other harmful compounds. Iron is one of the most important elements for the nutrition and saturation of moisture in skin cells. Magnesium promotes blood circulation and noticeable skin cell renewal. While protein is extremely important, your body also demands carbohydrates and fats, both of which you can find in oatmeal. Oats are also rich in antioxidants that help alleviate itching, inflammation, and high blood pressure. The slow carbohydrates found in oatmeal help curb your appetite and maintain normal blood sugar levels. All those nutrients in oats not only boost your metabolism but also prevent the accumulation of fat and toxins in the body. Thanks to the antioxidants present in oatmeal, the probability of damage to the walls of blood vessels by free radicals is reduced significantly. The Essential Guide To Macros For Intermittent Fasting: Using I.F. For Weight Loss & Muscle Gains
Lose Weight For The Six Pack Abs You Deserve: http://go.sixpackabs.com/scienc4a2 Subscribe to Tom's Channel - http://www.YouTube.com/TheTDeLauer Macros for Intermittent Fasting I.F. Benefits Overview: HGH - Studies show that the blood levels of growth hormone may increase as much as 5-fold when intermittent fasting as opposed to a regular diet. Higher levels of this hormone facilitate fat burning and muscle gain and help your stomach shrink. Many of those who try intermittent fasting are doing it in order to lose weight. Generally speaking, intermittent fasting will make you eat fewer meals, which results in you consuming fewer calories. Energy - I.F. results in lower insulin levels, higher growth hormone levels and increased amounts of norepinephrine (noradrenaline), all of which increase the breakdown of body fat and facilitate its use for energy. Leptin - Low leptin leads to an increase in hunger and a decrease in metabolic rate, much like high leptin leads to a decrease in hunger and an increase in metabolic rate. People can lose leptin sensitivity, ignore signals, and begin to overeat. Leptin levels also drop during short term fasting and return to normal after eating – good way to retain leptin sensitivity. http://authoritynutrition.com/10-health-benefits-of-intermittent-fasting/ How Many Meals Per Day? There is no set amount of meals you “should” be eating. Many different ways to intermittent fast, the following is the most common and most convenient. Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting It doesn’t instruct you on which or how much food(s) to eat, but rather when you should eat them - sticking to a concept of 2 meals per day. The 16/8 Method involves fasting every day for around 16 hours, and restricting your daily “eating window” to around 8 hours. Within the eating window, you can fit in 2 meals. Doing this method of fasting can actually be as simple as not eating anything after dinner, and skipping breakfast. For example, if you finish your last meal at 8 pm and then don’t eat until 12 noon the next day, then you are technically fasting for 16 hours between meals. You can drink water, coffee and other non-caloric beverages during the fast, and this can help reduce hunger levels. When fasting blood levels of insulin drop significantly, which facilitates fat burning – you should avoid breaking fast with a high carb meal, as it will cause an insulin spike, harming the fat burning process. https://authoritynutrition.com/what-is-intermittent-fasting/ Main Benefit – Less Caloric Intake. Your stomach is like a muscle. When it's filled with large meals three times a day, the distensibility (the amount your stomach walls can stretch) increases. When you head in the other direction - eating many small meals throughout the day - your stomach's capacity goes down. By eating smaller meals more frequently, you'll naturally feel full with less food, and your body will send signals to stop eating sooner. Intermittent fasting will make you eat fewer meals, resulting in your stomach shrinking and less caloric intake. Additionally, this causes an increase in your metabolic rate by 3.6-14%, helping you burn even more calories. In other words, it boosts your metabolic rate (increases calories out) and reduces the amount of food you eat (reduces calories in). Foods to Break Your Fast With - The protective mucus lining of the stomach may be temporarily diminished after a fast, making the stomach walls more vulnerable to irritation until it returns to normal - Make note of coffee and acidity during the fast. http://greatist.com/grow/stomach-size-eating-habits Gentle reintroduction of foods, beginning with the simplest and easiest-to-digest foods, supports this process. Foods known to be irritating to the system, such as coffee and spicy foods, must be avoided during the breaking process. The most nutritious and easy-to-digest foods should be used to break a fast: fruit and vegetable juices, raw fruits (berries, but avoid fruits with heavy skins/pectin), vegetable or bone broths, yogurt, cooked/uncooked vegetables, and eggs. http://www.allaboutfasting.com/breaking-a-fast.html Fructose may only be good if you’re going to workout after breaking your fast. 5 Intermittent Fasting Tricks to Burn Fat Faster
Learn 5 intermittent fasting weight loss tricks to burn fat faster. These tips will help those of you looking to lose weight fast. If you are on the ketogenic diet some of these tips will benefit you as well 🔥 FREE 6 Week Challenge: https://gravitychallenges.com/home65d4f?utm_source=ytube&utm_term=fasting Fat Loss Calculator: http://bit.ly/2wplFbl You really shouldn't start an intermittent fasting plan......... Well.... at least not until you watch this video because today I'm giving away the top 5 ways that will allow you to burn fat faster while fasting. If you've already tried intermittent fasting and you did it correctly you've probably already noticed some great results. You probably lost some body fat, maybe lost a few pounds off the scale, and you've become more productive in the process.... which is all great. But I know if you could double or triple your results without spending more time in the gym or in the kitchen you would be more than happy to learn how. Am I right? ....I think i'm right. So let's get started with the very first trick... When you break your fast, during your feeding window you want to stick to foods that don't spike your blood sugar, and more importantly don't spike your insulin levels. And those two things aren't always the same. As many of you already know one of the major benefits of fasting is that it'll allow you lower your insulin levels. Insulin is a fat storage hormone that serves as a bridge between your cells and the nutrients coming into your body. Your body will also stop burning fat when insulin levels are elevated. When we fast we are not just looking to lower calories by not eating, even though fasting will definitely do this the main goal of fasting for fat loss is to decrease insulin levels. And there really is no better solution for doing just that, when you simply don't eat your bodies insulin levels are naturally at their lowest. However, what most people don't realize is that even if you fast perfectly, once you break your fast you can spike your blood sugar and insulin levels high enough to cause your body to actually store fat rather than burn it. So if you want to burn fat at the fastest rate the goal has to be to keep your insulin levels low even after breaking your fast. We can do that by understanding some basic principles and then making a decision on what to eat during your feeding window around those key concepts. First let's get the obvious out of the way.... sweets, processed foods, and junk food will spike your insulin levels the highest while providing the lowest amount of nutrients. So if you want to burn fat faster after breaking your fast stick only to real wholesome single ingredient foods. Most of these foods you'll find by sticking to the outside aisles of your local grocery store or supermarket while avoiding the inner aisles. Next you have to know that carbohydrates have the biggest impact on your insulin levels, certain types of dairy have equally as big of an impact, other sources of protein have a moderate impact, and fat has the smallest impact. By not overindulging in carbohydrates and dairy after breaking your fast you'll already be miles ahead of most people. Since fasting is supposed to be a flexible dieting structure, I don't want you to restrict your carbs or dairy to nothing. In fact by doing that it'll probably make you want to have them even more. Instead I want you to break your fast with a large serving of vegetables in order to fill your stomach up and take the edge off your hunger. Then move on to your protein & fat sources, and then if you're still hungry you can move on to some low glycemic carbohydrates & dairy. This will allow you to limit your insulin spikes during your feeding window without actually thinking about it & without restrictions. Let's move on to the second way to burn fat faster that goes hand in hand with the first tip we just went over. I'm talking about keto fasting. Keto fasting is a combination of the ketogenic diet & fasting. This will make your diet a little less flexible because you will have to adhere to a certrain macronutrient split, but it's an incredibly effective way to speed up the amount of fat lost from fasting. Here you would start by setting up a regular intermittent fasting & feeding window. An common example would be to break your fast at 1 o clock & then switch back to fasting at 9 o clock. But during that 8 hour feeding window, with this method you'll actually want to keep your carbohydrate consumption under only 5 to 10 percent of your total daily caloric intake. This means no grains, no starchy veggies, & only berries for your fruit. You'll also want to keep your protein intake right around 15 to 20 percent of your daily intake because remember protein is also insulinogenic, & your fat should be around 75 percent of your total calories. With this kind of macronutrient split Studies on fasted training: tinyurl.com/ybosvgqf tinyurl.com/y7n9d4jc

Ketosis can occur during fasting, when you reduce the amount of carbs or calories in your diet, during pregnancy or after exercising for a long period of time. Many diets use ketosis as the means of burning fat while maintaining muscle - examples include the Atkins diet and other low-carb diets. This strategy can also lead to decreased hunger. How long does it take to kick your body into fat burning, ketosis mode? Roughly 3-4 days of consuming less than 50 carbs per day, the equivalent of 2 bananas. Benefits include weight loss, seizure prevention, cardiovascular health and type-2 diabetes help, to name a few. How does it Work? When glucose is in short supply, your liver will break down fats into ketones, which are then used throughout your body for energy. Muscles and other tissues in your body use ketones rather than glucose for energy metabolism. In a healthy person, the production of ketones for energy is the body’s natural response to starvation, so this happens when dieting, overnight and during fasting. Glucose or Ketones: Which is More Effective? Many brain diseases, such as epilepsy, are already being treated by the ketogenic diet. The mechanisms to why it helps the brain are still being studied, but there are some possible reasons that ketones seem to be a good energy source for the brain. One major Ketone, beta-hydroxybutyrate, or BHB, provides more energy per unit of oxygen than glucose, and thus may be even more efficient than glucose at providing energy to the brain. (3) -The ketogenic diet has also been found to increase the number of mitochondria in brain cells. In a 2004 study on rats, one group was fed a ketogenic diet while the other was fed a normal diet. A positive impact was found on the gene expression for mitochondrial enzymes in the hippocampus, the memory and learning center of the brain. (4) Ketosis and Body Water Composition: High fat and low carb diets are known to lead to fast weight loss. The fast weight loss is due to water weight being shed (5) -When you decrease carbs, you decrease water storage in the body. Who Can Benefit From Ketosis? If you are looking to shed some body fat, ketosis may be a good tool. This can go along with an exercise regimen as you maintain muscle while losing fat. Ketosis can also benefit those who need to boost brain power as energy may be utilized more effectively in the brain. *Be careful because those with diabetes can get too high of a level of ketones in their blood, which is very dangerous. This occurs due to the low levels of insulin in the blood, which will signal the body to produce excess ketones that will build up in the blood, making the blood pH too low. References: 1. CrossFit - "The Foundation Is Nutrition"
Combining the CrossFit training methodology with a diet of meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar brings "a jet stream of adaptation," says CrossFit founder Greg Glassman. In the pyramid Glassman created, nutrition is the foundation, with met-cons, gymnastics, weightlifting and throwing, and sport following. "Each level builds on the level below it," explains Nicole Carroll, director of certification. "If your nutrition sucks, these things will not be where they could be if it were more solid." Likewise, Glassman says CrossFit favors Barry Sears' Zone Diet "because it does give me accurate and precise prescription for caloric intake and, more importantly, the exact levels of macronutrient that I can start at." Likewise, trainers and coaches can make informed decisions on how to tweak an athlete's diet for improved performance, he says. CrossFit HQ trainer Pat Sherwood says nutrition isn't an either/or aspect of training. "It's not quality or quantity. It can and it should be both." 5min 14sec

What I Would Eat if I had Diabetes?
Take Dr. Berg's Body Type Quiz: http://bit.ly/BodyTypeQuiz Dr. Eric Berg talks about Sugar and diabetes. Sugar increases insulin which lowers the sugar in the blood and puts it in storage as fat. A healthy diet should consist of fats and moderate amount of proteins. A diabetic diet should have high quantities of fat. Sugar stimulates hunger and you carve for more food. 40 % of all heart diseases are related to excess sugar. Keeping your blood sugar levels in control is a primary objective for a healthy body. The current recommendations for carbohydrates based on the American Diabetes Associations is 45-60 grams of carbohydrates PER MEAL!!!!! not per day, per meal. http://www.diabetes.org/food-and-fitn... blood sugar problems can be improved if the right foods are eaten, but overall sugars and carbs must be reduced. Fats can be increased. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 50 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional and natural methods. Anti-Obesity Drugs, Diet and Exercise Can Help With Weight Loss Maintenance After a Low Calorie Diet
Please like, subscribe, comment and share! SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/user/DrJohnKiel FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/medicinelifestyle TWITTER: https://twitter.com/LifestyleMedYou A little background here. Low calorie diets are known to produce substantial weight loss, yet many individuals find themselves regaining much of the weight when they stop dieting. If you haven't experienced this yourself, you probably know someone who has. Maintaining weight loss is a substantial effort. Effects of different maintenance strategies after a VLCD have been tested in randomized trials, such as anti-obesity drugs , meal replacements, high-protein diets, low glycemic-index diets , low-fat diets, green tea extracts , a prolonged refeeding period, waist corsets, and exercise. However, the effects of these maintenance strategies remains unclear. So in summary, you can say that anti obesity drugs, meal replacement plans, high protein diets and exercise all were associated with improved weight loss maintenance after a VLCD/LCD. One Meal A Day Food Plan | Must See!
Get The Recipes Here: http://bit.ly/2sIK1M0 One Meal A Day Food Plan | Must See! is a video that that gives you the best foods to eat along with a few of my favorite recipes and meal ideas while on OMAD. One meal a day food plan was born by many people asking the question, what do I eat on OMAD? I stress the importance of eating a healthy diet while following one meal a day. If you do not eat a healthy diet while following OMAD you will likely create nutritional deficits. The bulk of the food you eat should be high fiber vegetables, followed by healthy fats, proteins, carbs and last but not least, low glycemic fruits like berries, granny smith apples and grapefruit. One meal a day intermittent fasting offers a ton of great benefits, the key is that you do it right. I have had many people follow my OMAD diet meal plan with great success and I believe you will have success too. The diet we follow on OMAD is the Heal Yourself Diet, for the full guide click here: http://bit.ly/2kgnwcC My Info Packed Website: https://nuvisionexcel.com Don't forget to subscribe ▻▻ https://www.youtube.com/c/DrNickZyrowski?sub_confirmation=1 Follow me :) Instagram (Live 2x per week, active daily) | http://instagram.com/nuvisionexcel Blog | http://www.nuvisionexcel.com Facebook | http://www.facebook.com/NuVisionExcel I wanna hear from you! 48864 Romeo Plank Macomb Mi, 48044 Dr. Nick Zyrowski

How I Lost Belly Fat In 7 Days: No Strict Diet No Workout!
How to get rid of your lower belly pooch? Are you familiar with the situation when you want to put on some item of clothing hanging in the back of your closet, but something holds you back from it? Your belly! This problem can be solved. If you wanna know how to do it just watch our new video! TIMESTAMPS: What to do to reduce bloating 1:56 How to get rid of water weight 3:40 How to change your lifestyle and reconsider your diet 5:24 #weightloss #7days #bellyfatweek Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - Fat isn’t always the culprit when it comes to extra inches around the midsection. If you’ve just recently noticed that you’re not fitting into your clothes the way you did not so long ago, it’s more likely to be a result of bloating and water weight. - Bloating is definitely not fat. It’s air or gas that collects in your gut and causes the stomach to feel tight, full, and swollen. - Consuming more ginger is another bloat-reducing trick. You can drink it as a tea or eat it fresh. - Much sodium (which is the stuff that’s in salt) causes the body to retain more water. - Your biggest ally when it comes to reducing water weight is…water! Surprising, right? But it’s true; the more water you drink, the less liquid builds up in your body! - Carbonated drinks make you bloated and gassy. - The lifestyle changes were a no-brainer. Instead of the elevator, you should take the stairs; instead of parking near the entrance to some place, you should park further away and walk; instead of sitting in front of the TV all evening, you should go for short 15 to 30-minute walks. Why Coffee AFTER a Workout helps Fat Loss and Performance
Click Here to Subscribe: http://Bit.ly/ThomasVid Website: http://ThomasDeLauer.com Get the Clothes I Wear at 25% Off - Use Code: TDSUMMER25 at http://www.Hylete.com Why Coffee AFTER a Workout helps Fat Loss and Performance - Thomas DeLauer Study - International Journal of Sports Medicine The purpose of this study was to look at the sparing effects of caffeine on the utilization of muscle glycogen during 30 min of leg ergometer cycling (70% V̇O 2 max) A caffeine solution (250 ml; 5 ml/kg body weight) ingested 1 hour prior to exercise (CAF trial) decreased the use of muscle glycogen by 42% in 7 subjects when compared to a decaffeinated control trial (CON) There was a modest increase in serum FFA and muscle triglyceride use was 150% greater in the CAF as compared to the CON trial Respiratory exchange during exercise also reflected a shift in carbon source from carbohydrate to lipid Since known in vitro effects of caffeine include an increased use of muscle lipid and an inhibitory influence on phosphorylase a, it is suggested that the ergogenic effects of caffeine on endurance performance are, in part, the result of direct actions in muscle rather than solely to enhanced mobilization, uptake, and oxidation of blood-borne FFA ----------- However, caffeine (combined with carbohydrates) following exercise can help refill muscle glycogen faster than carbs alone Study - Journal of Applied Physiology The study was conducted on 7 well-trained endurance cyclists who participated in four sessions The participants first rode a cycle ergometer until exhaustion, and then consumed a low-carbohydrate dinner before going home - the exercise bout was designed to reduce the athletes' muscle glycogen stores prior to the experimental trial the next day The athletes did not eat again until they returned to the lab the next day for the second session when they again cycled until exhaustion They then ingested a drink that contained carbs alone or carbs plus caffeine and rested in the laboratory for four hours During this post-exercise rest time, the researchers took several muscle biopsies and multiple blood samples to measure the amount of glycogen being replenished in the muscle, along with the concentrations of glucose-regulating metabolites and hormones in the blood, including glucose and insulin The entire two-session process was repeated 7-10 days later - the only difference was that this time, the athletes drank the beverage that they had not consumed in the previous trial (if they drank the carbohydrate alone in the first trial, they drank the carbohydrate plus caffeine in the second trial, and vice versa) Results Glucose and insulin levels higher with caffeine ingestion with researchers finding: - one hour after exercise, muscle glycogen levels had replenished to the same extent whether or not the athlete had the drink containing carbohydrate and caffeine or carbohydrate only - throughout the four-hour recovery period, the caffeinated drink resulted in higher levels of blood glucose and plasma insulin - four hours after exercise, the drink containing caffeine resulted in 66% higher glycogen levels compared to the carbohydrate-only drink Why This Is One reason is that caffeine may aid in facilitating glucose uptake from the blood into the muscles as caffeine intake can acutely lower insulin sensitivity and increase glucose concentrations In addition, caffeine seems to increase the activity of several signaling enzymes, including the calcium-dependent protein kinase and protein kinase B (also called Akt), both which, when activated, trigger an uptake in muscle glucose during and after exercise Furthermore, caffeine activates AMPK, and activation of AMPK has also been deemed necessary for contraction-stimulated glucose transport into skeletal muscle References 1) Effects of Caffeine Ingestion on Utilization of Muscle Glycogen and Lipid During Leg Ergometer Cycling | Request PDF. Ketosis: When to Eat Carbs- Ketogenic Diet | Thomas DeLauer

In ketosis, glucose is not being used by the brain so it goes directly to your muscles. Due to the minimal amount of carbs consumed, some of the protein you consume is converted to glycogen via gluconeogenesis. Not a Critical Need to Refeed, Per Say, however, Glycogen Replenishment is great for those training heavy. Excerpt from the Ketogenic Diet book, published by Lyle McDonald: “The initial storage depot of carbohydrate in the body is the liver, which contains enough glycogen to sustain the brain’s glucose needs for approximately 12-16 hours. We will assume for the following discussion that liver glycogen has been depleted, ketosis established, and that the only source of glucose is from endogenous fuel stores (i.e. stored body fat and protein). After its glycogen has been depleted, the liver is one of the major sources for the production of glucose (gluconeogenesis) and it produces glucose from glycerol, lactate/pyruvate and the amino acids alanine and glutamine. The kidney also produces glucose as starvation proceeds.” Note that athletes, even on a low carbohydrate diet, your body accumulates some glycogen from protein molecules, and they use it when they exercise and then rebuilt it the next day or two. Study 1: The paper’s authors measured the performance of ultra-endurance runners who regularly run upwards of 100 miles. Here’s how they set it up: Half of the participants ate low-carb (20% of calories from carbs) for 6 months. The other half ate high-carb (55% of calories from carbs) for 6 months. On test day, athletes ran for 3 hours. The researchers measured the runners’ energy expenditure and gathered blood, muscle tissue, saliva, and a variety of other samples. They then pieced everything together to better understand what each group was burning for fuel, and how hard they had to work. What was more fascinating is that both groups had the same muscle glycogen levels during and after exercise, and they weren’t breaking down their muscles to do it. Link: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0026049515003340 Study 2: In one study, looking at well-trained cyclists, the rate of glycogen used by keto dieters was cut by a factor of 4. They were starting out with half as much glycogen as the high carboh dieters, but you’d used glycogen four times more slowly. The study took bits of muscle out of their thigh muscles and measured muscle and measured glycogen before and after. On the same duration of riding and the same intensity, their rate of glycogen use was one-fourth as much. Link: http://www.meandmydiabetes.com/2011/04/14/steve-phinney-low-carb-preserves-glycogen-better-than-high-carb/ Study 3: A study done in Arctic sled dogs by a scientist from Oklahoma State University, named Dr. Mike Davis - took a couple of racing sled dogs up in the Yukon and raced them 100 miles a day for five days in a row. They did a half Iditarod distance, going around the same 100 mile loop every day for five days in a row. He fed the dogs a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet. He measured muscle glycogen in the dogs before they started. At the end of five days, he did muscle biopsies on the dogs again. That’s after racing 100 miles a day, pulling a sled, being fed adequate calories in a low carb, moderate protein, high-fat diet. At the end of five days, they had more glycogen in their muscles than they did when they started. Their muscle cells were sucking up every little bit of what they could find and putting it right back in the muscle as glycogen. And doing it much more efficiently than when they were fed a high carb diet. So starch and protein are essential for good bone formation. Just looking into possible reasons why, (apart from media trying to sell programmes) the "Bro Diet" i.e. "Clean" Eating diet exists within the bodybuilding world and now spilling over into the regular world. This is just what I feel, (key word being I) is a possible logical way to think of it... BUT.. I wanna hear your opinions on this too.. Best Pre- and Post-Workout Meals to Fuel Your Sweat Session
Food affects your progress in the gym more than you might think. The wrong workout meals will prevent you from losing fat and compromise muscle growth, while the best workout meals will support fat burning and muscle repair and so you see more results when you exercise. Fasting is a great pre-workout meal alternative. It speeds up fat loss and preserves muscle. Save carbs for your post-workout meal so they replenish your glycogen-deprived muscles. Be sure they’re quality carbs, not high-glycemic, junky ones. To support muscle repair, prioritize plenty of complete protein in your workout meals. You can also take collagen protein after your workouts to help your joints recover. Check out these ideal pre-workout and post-workout meals. Life Plus Logi Weight Loss Program Low-Glycemic BodySmart Program High Protein Diet
http://www.lifeplusvitamins.com/bodysmart-program.htm - This program was developed by a medical doctor in Germany using the LOGI method, which is based on eating low-glycemic foods. In large part what makes the program work so well is it jump starts your metabolism. One of the great side benefits of this program besides losing weight is it will greatly increase hour energy levels. You will be amazed at how great you feel. On both days geared toward metabolism readjustment you may consume up to 5 Protein/Nutrition Shakes. You should not consume solid food during these two days, but drink a large amount of liquids: a minimum of 2 to 3 liters of water, tea, coffee, broth. You should not let more than 3 hours pass between consumption of the shakes, otherwise you run the risk of consuming too few calories and your metabolism will switch to starvation mode instead of fat-burning and weight-reduction mode. Mix 1 scoop (20 g) of Triple Protein Shake in at least 500 -- 700 ml of liquid (water or reduced-fat milk). Add 1-2 tea spoons of flax oil or coconut oil. Take 2 tablets BodySmart Gold (Women or Men) and 2 tablets EnerXan with your first shake. People with high blood pressure should start out with 1 tablet of EnerXan http://www.lifeplusvitamins.com/supershake.html http://www.lifeplusvitamins.com/enerxan.html http://www.lifeplusvitamins.com/mens-gold.htm http://www.lifeplusvitamins.com/womens-gold.htm Once you reach your target weight, you can switch back to 3 normal meals per day. A diet according to the Logi method is highly suitable: Carb-reduced, modified fat intake, optimal protein intake. However, it is advisable to occasionally replace a meal with a protein shake. The most suitable meal is dinner as it will boost fat burning during the night. You will only continue to lose a minimal amount of weight during the Stabilization Phase as the goal during this phase is stabilizing your target weight. With the diet according the Logi method you are able to follow a balanced diet, keep your weight in the "ideal area," and remain effective. During times of increased nutrient requirements (exercise, stress, pregnancy, smoking), the nutritional balance can be easily maintained with concentrated micro nutrients. They overfill when you eat carbohydrates and fat together, displacing fat oxidation. 10:11 How can you burn more fat and store less fat? You can oxidize more fat by restricting exogenous glucose. 11:12 The bigger you get, the faster you are going to die. 12:56 Metabolically obese normal weight individuals are an exception to the waist/height ratio. 15:53 Your personal fat threshold is genetically built in. 17:34 Becoming fat can be protective. 19:12 Everyone has fatty liver now. 20:49 If you have an abundance of free fatty acids in your blood and it is being rejected by your cells and tissues, your body goes to war with itself. 21:26 You can reverse insulin resistance by eating either an extremely low fat diet or an extremely low carb diet. Studie 24:06 If you are fat to begin with, you should do the low carb/high fat approach. 26:46 If you already have very low body fat, if you eat a high carb/low fat diet, you will remain thin. 25:27 For someone who is very overweight and very insulin resistant, a protein heavy/low carb diet is Dr. Naiman’s recommendation. 26:03 You will lose just as much lean/muscle mass as fat mass with fasting or undereating calories. 28:53 If you don’t hit your protein target, you will overeat energy as carbs or fats to get enough protein. 35:19 What about vegetarians and vegans with protein? 38:13 You should get to ketosis with carb restriction. 41:20 Muscle is the organ of longevity. 41:26 Keep your insulin pulsatile. 44:21 Ambient temperature is a huge factor in diabetes. 49:56 Always start with diet. Take one meal at a time and replace your carbs with protein and fat. 52:20 Dr. Naiman has no morning routine, though he does drink cold brewed coffee. He fasts in the morning, not eating until about 1 p.m. 53:37 Dr. Naiman’s singular favorite exercise is the muscle up. It is the best upper body exercise. 56:29 Dr. Naiman takes no supplements and rarely recommends them. 58:35 Dr. Naiman’s elevator pitch is to put protein first. Ruminant agriculture on natural grasslands would turn around obesity and diabetes, and it helps the environment.

Fasting Tips: 3 Best Foods to Break a Fast- Thomas DeLauer…

Fasting Tips: 3 Best Foods to Break a Fast- Thomas DeLauer… Fasting for Health Purposes - Bone Broth Bone Broth Contains: Collagen: the main structural protein found within the human body that helps form connective tissue and “seals” the protective lining of the gastrointestinal tract. It’s also the gel-like, smooth structure that covers and holds our bones together, allowing us to glide and move freely. As a rich source of gelatin (breakdown of collagen), bone broth protects and seals the mucosal lining of the GI tract, which means it improves nutrient absorption. Proline: Helps the body break down proteins and helps improve skin elasticity and smoothness. It is often recommended for its benefits to the heart, including keeping arteries from stiffening. Glycine: Necessary for DNA and RNA synthesis and digestive health. It is used for the production of glutathione, for blood sugar regulation and digestion Glutamine: Glutamine has protective effects on intestinal mucosa by decreasing bacteremia and epithelial cell apoptosis, enhancing gut barrier function, and influencing gut immune response - glutamine can fight against bad gut flora by protecting against mucosal breakdown in the gut. Arginine: Beneficial for lowering inflammation and improving the health of the blood vessels and cardiovascular system - improves blood flow in people with clogged arteries Positively affects both central nervous system and immune system functions since in the brain NO (arginine converted to NO) acts as a neurotransmitter and protective agent against outside threats (4) Kettle and Fire Bone Broth also contains ACV. ACV has high concentrations of acetic acid. Like other acids, acetic acid can increase your body’s absorption of important minerals from the foods you eat. Also reduces glycemic and insulin responses to foods such as a starchy meal by delaying gastric emptying (5) Fasting for fat loss - MCT Oil: Most fatty acids depend upon bile salt emulsification in order to be metabolized and absorbed. MCTs have a slightly lower caloric effect than typical long-chain fatty acids (LCFA). LCFAs have 9 calories per gram while MCTs have about 8 calories per gram. Fatty acids produce energy in the mitochondria but are dependent upon the L-carnitine compound in order for entry. MCTs provide immediate energy because they are able to cross the double mitochondrial membrane very rapidly and do not require the presence of carnitine. Instead of being packaged into lipoproteins that circulate in the bloodstream, they are absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the portal vein, and are then transported to the liver (6) This is basically allowing your body to prime itself upon breaking a fast. MCT Study: One study found that consuming MCT oils helped reduce body fat and triglycerides more than omega 6 vegetable oils. After eight weeks, the experiment showed the MCT oil group lost more weight, body fat, and subcutaneous fat, all while experiencing a 15 percent drop in triglycerides (7) Breaking a fast for muscle building while staying lean (higher glycemic carbs) Using the GI of carbs is a technique most commonly used to regulate blood glucose and insulin concentrations to optimize athletic performance/physique building. You should break your fast with high GI carbs but avoid combining these with fatty foods - fat slows down transit through the stomach, so eating fat post fast may slow the digestion and absorption of carbs. This is due to a slowdown in gastric emptying – the rate at which food passes from the stomach into the intestines, where the nutrients (such as glucose) are absorbed into the bloodstream (8) References: 1) Fasting enhances growth hormone secretion and amplifies the complex rhythms of growth hormone secretion in man. Low Glycemic Diet - Best Glycemic Diet?
http://www.TheBodyReboot.com Low Glycemic Diet - Best Glycemic Diet? Two groundbreaking new studies address the irksome question of why so many of us who work out remain so heavy, a concern that carries special resonance at the moment, as lean Olympians slip through the air and water, inspiring countless viewers to want to become similarly sleek. And in a just world, frequent physical activity should make us slim. Repeated studies have shown that many people who begin an exercise program lose little or no weight. Some gain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YGvvle9fgw To better understand why, anthropologists leading one of the new studies began with a research trip to Tanzania. There, they recruited volunteers from the Hadza tribe, whose members still live by hunting and gathering. Providing these tribesmen with a crash course in modern field-study technology, the researchers fitted them with GPS units, to scrupulously measure how many miles each walked daily while searching for food. They also asked them to swallow so-called doubly labeled water, a liquid in which the normal hydrogen and oxygen molecules have been replaced with versions containing tracers. By studying these elements later in a person's urine, researchers can precisely determine someone's energy expenditure and metabolic rate. The researchers gathered data for 11 days, then calculated the participants' typical daily physical activity, energy expenditure and resting metabolic rates. They then compared those numbers with the same measures for an average male and female Westerner. how to lose weight without exercise,,,ketosis diet, what is the quickest way to lose weight, the truth about six pack abs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJmePUUJ40g It's long been believed that a hunter-gatherer lifestyle involves considerable physical activity and therefore burns many calories, far more than are incinerated by your average American office worker each day. And it was true, the scientists determined, that the Hadza people in general moved more than many Americans do, with the men walking about seven miles a day and the women about three. But it was not true that they were burning far more calories. In fact, the scientists calculated, the Hadza's average metabolic rate, or the number of calories that they were burning over the course of a day, was about the same as the average metabolic rate for Westerners. The implication, the scientists concluded, is that "active, 'traditional' lifestyles may not protect against obesity if diets change to promote increased caloric consumption." That is, even active people will pack on pounds if they eat like most of us in the West. The underlying and rather disheartening message of that finding, of course, is that physical activity by itself is not going to make and keep you thin. (It's worth noting that the Hadza people were almost uniformly slight.). The overarching conclusion of that study, which was published last week in the journal PLoS One, is not really new or surprising, says Dr. Timothy Church, who holds the John S. McIlhenny Endowed Chair in Health Wisdom at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana and who has long studied exercise and weight control. "It's been known for some time that, calorie for calorie, it's easier to lose weight by dieting than by exercise," he says. People stick with low-calorie diets more readily than they continue with exercise to drop pounds. And another newly published and fascinating review, by Dr. Church and others, goes some way to explaining why. Its main point: As in the Hadza study, human metabolism appears to be less revved by activity than was once believed. "There's this expectation that if you exercise, your metabolism won't drop as you lose weight or will even speed up," says Diana Thomas, a professor of mathematics at Montclair State University in New Jersey, who led the study. She says close mathematical scrutiny of past studies of exercise and weight loss shows that that happy prospect is, sad to say, unfounded. One of the few studies ever to have scrupulously monitored exercise, food intake and metabolic rates found that volunteers' basal metabolic rates dropped as they lost weight, even though they exercised every day. As a result, although they were burning up to 500 calories during an exercise session, their total daily caloric burn was lower than it would have been had their metabolism remained unchanged, and they lost less weight than had been expected. The problem for those of us hoping to use exercise to slough off fat is that most current calculations about exercise and weight loss assume that metabolism remains unchanged or is revved by exercise. Dr. Thomas has helpfully begun to recalibrate weight loss formulas, taking in

Ketogenic Diet: Best / Worst Nuts to Eat: Thomas DeLauer
Please Subscribe for 3x Videos Per Week + Live Broadcasts! http://ThomasDeLauer.com Ketogenic Diet: Best / Worst Nuts to Eat: Thomas DeLauer Top 2 Nuts to Eat: Pecan nuts – 100g contains 4 grams of net carbs. Pecans contain monounsaturated fats like oleic acid along with phenolic antioxidants that are healthy for your heart and help prevent coronary artery disease and strokes. Pecans may help prevent coronary heart disease by inhibiting unwanted oxidation of blood lipids (Also known as lipid peroxidation - process in which free radicals steal electrons from the lipids in cell membranes, resulting in cell damage) Pecans are also rich in magnesium, which is known for its anti-inflammatory benefits. Magnesium intake reduces inflammatory indicators in the body such as CRP (C-reactive protein), TNF (tumor necrosis factor alpha) and IL6 (interleukin 6). It also reduces inflammation in the arterial walls, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease and other inflammatory ailments (1) Macadamia – 100g contains 5 grams of net carbs. Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic found that by taking omega-7 for just 30 days, patients had a 44% reduction in C-reactive protein levels. Not to be confused with Palmitic acid: a saturated fat that is on the World Health Organizations list of most damaging fats to our heart - it is abundant in palm oil and contains properties that can promote inflammation. Study - Gut Health: Study, performed by the European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology - subjects who consumed daily oleic acid versus those who did not - found that those who did consume daily oleic acid were 89 percent less likely to have ulcerative colitis (4) Almonds (Phytic Acid) – 100 grams contains about 10 grams of net carbs. Almonds also have a high phytic acid content - phytic acid, a substance naturally found in plants, serves as the principal storage molecule for phosphorus. Phytic acid binds with other minerals, including zinc, calcium, iron and magnesium. Eating foods high in phytic acid, like almonds, can interfere with the absorption and use of these minerals and lead to a nutrient deficiency (5) When phytic acid binds to a mineral, it becomes a phytate. Once it is a phytate it inhibits the absorption of starches, proteins, and fats. They can be known as “Anti-nutrients.” Cashews – 100 grams contains roughly 27 grams of carbs. The cashew is a nut and is botanically related to mangoes, pistachios and poison ivy. Cashew trees produce a pear-shaped accessory fruit, or pseudo-fruit, called a cashew apple, which gives rise to a drupe that grows on its end. This is the tree’s true fruit, and the seed inside it is the cashew nut. Cashews are actually “drupes” - means “stone fruits” like peaches and plums. Drupes are fruits that have a soft fleshy exterior and a pit with a seed inside. Cashews also contain aflatoxins, which are toxic byproducts produced by certain fungi. They’ve been shown to cause liver inflammation and liver stress and thereby can stress the liver additionally when in a ketogenic state. By and large, cashews tend to be the most inflammatory nuts. Cornell University has aflatoxins listed as a “plant that is toxic to livestock and animals” as well. References: 1) Raw Pecans: Discover 7 Health Benefits of Pecans. (n.d.).
