Welcome back to Wood 'n' Stuff w/ Steve French! I made this seesaw (teeter-totter) last December as a Christmas gift for two of our granddaughters. It's based on an Anna White plan ( http://ana-white.com/2012/05/plans/birthday-seesaw ) but I made it even more durable by adding 6 extra parts that I feel should have been included in the original plans. I also shaped the seats to make them more friendly to small legs. I used Titebond III glue. In reality, you probably don't need glue at all, but I'll leave that for you to decide. Thank you very much for watching! Please take a moment to like, comment and share. Be sure to subscribe for lots more woodworking videos to come. Feel free to also check out my back library of videos. If you like what I do here at YouTube, please consider stepping up to a more super-de-duper, fantastic level of support by clicking the "Support This Channel" button on my channel's home page. This video shows a DIY See Saw / Teeter-Totter project, it's made of 2" thick rough cut western red cedar. However the design could be modified easily for standard 2x6 lumber bought from the store. The finish is exterior grade clear gloss Helmsman Spar Urethane which makes the cedar really pop, looks awesome, and will hold up against weather and UV light well. The see saw in the video has gone through one winter season outside so seems to be holding up well. The design uses a 3/4" galvanized water pipe with 1" outer diameter as the hinge point. The height of the hinge point can be raised up as the kids get bigger so they won't outgrow it for a long time. The seesaw design was made using Google Sketchup CAD tool. As a disclaimer if you choose to make a DIY seesaw based on this design then do so at your own risk. This said I tried to make this see saw as safe as possible given it was made for family. If any questions or improvements for this project please comment below. If you liked the video, please like & subscribe to my channel for more.

You might be wondering what this is... It's a 3D printing project made by a good friend of mine and one of the weapons you can find in one of the most famous shooter games, called Quake 3 Arena. This simple DIY treadle hammer is great for those who need an extra hand in the shop. There are PDF plans for this treadle hammer available at my website www.blacksmithpdfs.com for $8. This homemade treadle hammer is especially helpful for setting welds in drop the tong applications. It can be customized in some senses (ie: using larger sledgehammers, longer handles to achieve more force, etc.). There are two height settings on this hammer, for general forging or for using tooling with it. This hammer is also very space conscious for the guy who smiths out of his garage. It's designed easily enough for the beginner fabricator or avid do it yourself-er. Below is the details outlined in the video: This step hammer is not only cheap and quick to build. I fabricated this machine in under four hours. It cost me about $150 USD in materials. As you can see, it uses a very simple but effective two sledge hammer design that includes two height settings. One setting is for forging and the other setting is for top tooling. This design can be modified for larger sledge hammers, and longer handle lengths (based upon need). This video includes an overview of the mechanical workings. This treadle hammer is great for two handed operations such as setting welds. We have professional plans made up for this at our website www.blacksmithpdfs.com for $8 USD. It is a document download in PDF format. Thank you for watching. Subscriber ramps: https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/sbhramp/ In another video we built a kicker ramp with a little down slope for beginners. That ramp now lives at Virginia Key Mountain Bike Park in Miami, right next to the teeter totter. It works exactly as designed, and the kids love it. This ramp will live a happy life, and teach many riders how to get air for the first time. If you haven’t seen the video on that ramp, check the description for a link. People have been asking me to build a bigger ramp, but that’s not going to happen until I have a place to put one. Even the last ramp was a pain to haul around. If I had a place to put a bigger ramp, I’d probably be building a dirt jump as we speak. In fact, what I really need is a smaller ramp that I can bring places. This would get far more use, and be an important prop in future videos. Let’s build one right now. We’re buying one sheet of plywood because that’s the minimum amount we can get. We’re going to have a ton of wood left over. Because this ramp is small enough to bring indoors or leave in the trunk of a car, I don’t need pressure treated plywood or stainless hardware. James is here to help me again, and to make sure that we’re following all safety precautions. First we’ll trace the sides of the ramp on the plywood. It’s 3 feet long, 12 inches high, and has a downslope 6 inches from the end. This sloped part looks useless, but it’s there to stabilize the ramp and keep it from flipping forwards when you hit it going fast. To trace a nice mellow curve, we’ll use the PVC pipe method. This bend should give us a pretty serious pop, without being too steep for mountain bike wheels. Now that we’re done tracing, we’ll cut out the shape with a jigsaw. Tracing another piece from the first one will ensure that both sides are identical. With a chop saw, we’ll make our 16 inch cross bars from this 2x4. These will be fastened to the sides with deck screws to create the frame of the ramp. To cut our surface, we need to measure the curve, and add a couple of inches to the end. With a flexible ruler, this is an easy task. As is the case with plywood, it bends easily and stays in place with screws. A little sanding, and our portable kicker ramp is ready to ride. As you can see, we’ve barely used any wood compared to our last project. Time to go for a ride. I actually don’t know many BMX tricks, but maybe this ramp will give me the opportunity to learn some. This ramp turned out so lightweight, that I can carry it on my bike fairly easily. With a bike trailer, transport would be even easier. This gives us the opportunity to make any downslope into a landing, so I’ll be keeping my eyes open for more places to set this up. If you want to build this ramp I think it’s easy enough by just looking at what we did here, but I left some basic measurements in the description. Yours can be longer, wider, or steeper, but I think that this size is a pretty nice balance for portability. If you’ve already built the last ramp, or even a ramp influenced by the videos on this channel, hashtag it so we can all admire it. Better yet, post a video clip! #SBHramp Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time. Here's the old ramp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxvYN4pfjFQ MEASUREMENTS Height: 12 inches Width: 16 inches Length (bottom): 36 inches Length (top): 30 inches So the slope at the back of the ramp starts 6 inches from the end. This part makes the ramp more stable by adding some footing. MATERIALS Some plywood. 1/2" or 9/16" is fine One 2x4 Drywall or deck screws, not too long: 1 5/8" is good TOOLS Jigsaw Drill Chop saw or circular saw is nice, but you could use the jigsaw in a pinch. Latest Video: Wood & Metal Treadle Hammer for Forging/Blacksmithing Summary: -I am fascinated with power hammers! -I designed a treadle hammer in Fusion 360 that uses metal and wood. -I went with wood for some of the frame due to having most of what I needed and the cost prohibitive factor of metal for such large portions of the build. -I designed it around a 20 LB sledge hammer head and the 140 LB steel block that I already had. -The wooden anvil stand I also already made from reclaimed decking material. -I wanted to be able to add an air cylinder to it in the future; so I allotted for that in my design. -Enjoy! From whiskey barrel coffee table to coasters made from fallen branches, there are 15 amazing projects made from wood! 15. Wooden boat swing set If you’re a parent or a grandparent, you’re probably worried about kids spending too much time with their gadgets and not enough time playing outside. Well, here’s a wood project that will make your kids never want to come inside the house again. This cool wooden boat sing set contains slides, boat swings, seesaw, trapeze bar, and even a rope bridge. The best thing about wooden swing sets is that you don’t need to be an expert carpenter to build one. Believe it or not, a simple swing set will only take a weekend to build and won’t break your budget. The internet is full of plans for building swing sets, complete with building instructions, color photos, diagrams, materials and supplies lists, and sometimes even videos and user tips. Just make sure you check each plan carefully to make sure that it's right for your backyard and skill level before getting started. 14. Wooden shutter mail sorter If you’ve got a lot of junk mail and papers cluttering your home, here’s a perfect solution that is both practical and looks good. Transforming old window shutters into a rustic mail sorter is a great way to organize your mail and clean up your living space. With this wooden shutter mail sorter, you can also display mail that you are proud of, such as Christmas Cards, Valentine’s Day cards or even just letters and postcards from loved ones. You’re probably thinking ‘well, that’s great but most of us don't have window shutters lying around’. Don’t worry, window shutters are super easy to find and they don’t have to be expensive. You can get them at department stores, flea markets, or even secondhand from someone who’s recently been redecorating their home. Once you get your window shutter, use a staple to attach a flat piece of thin wood to the back so the mail wouldn't slide right through the spaces and - voila! No more paper clutter! 13. Whiskey barrel coffee table Isn’t this the coolest looking coffee table you’ve ever seen? And believe it or not, you can build one yourself pretty easily! You have a few different options for sourcing a whiskey barrel. You can contact your local whiskey distilleries or wine vineyards or simply find one on the classified ads websites. Ebay is also a great place to check, as well as Amazon. You can even put up a wanted ad that you are looking for a whiskey barrel or wine barrel to make furniture out of. When you find your perfect barrel, just look up some of the countless DIY instructions on the Internet about how to build this awesome looking coffee table and style up your living room. Before we move on, take a second to subscribe to our channel for more amazing content! 12. Barn door headboard If you want to give your bedroom a more rustic look then this barn door headboard is the perfect choice for you. Building this wood project is not exactly for beginners, but if you know someone who is skilled with wood, you can take your bedroom from boring to wow in no time and without spending too much money. If you don’t live in the country side and barns are hard to come by in your area, you can easily build your own barn door with a few planks, screws and some wood stain to give it that charming worn-out look. It might take awhile, but because the build is simple, you can build this without any electrical tools and the hard work will certainly pay off once you see just how cool your bedroom looks. 11. Tree trunk clock No matter how small or simple, wooden details like this amazing tree trunk clock will warm up any living space and make it more cozy. But don’t go chopping down healthy trees to make this clock! Just go for a walk in the countryside or your local forest area and you’ll find plenty oftrees perfect for this cool project. Once you find the right tree trunk, just cut a log section big enough for the clock and take it through the planer couple of times until you get the desired shape and size. Next, you’ll need to polish the log face, engrave or paint the numbers, and cut a in the middle. Finally, get the cheapest clock you can find, take out the mechanism and put it in the center in the log and that’s it! You just got yourself a super stylish wooden clock without spending hundreds of dollars! 10. Wooden watches While we’re on the subject of timekeeping, take a look at these sophisticated wooden watches made by Danish company JORD. JORD features a wide selection of wood watches that cost anywhere between $139 and $395, placing them in the mid to high market range.

DON'T MISS THE UPDATE AT THE END!! Made from copper and glass, this diy bird feeder is squirrel proof! It allows birds to enter to get to the bird seed but prevents squirrel entry. Most small birds can enter holes 1" to 1.5" and squirrels can get into a hole not much smaller than a 2" hole as you can see in my little test video where I determined the smallest size hole that a squirrel could enter. Bird feeder guards can be pretty ugly and are not very aesthetic but this bird feeder actually looks elegant and sleek with the patina of the old copper pipe and glass. Easy to fill and very easy to clean-out. Seed stays dry due to the solar effect of the glass. The bird feeder is see through so watching birds in your yard will become even better and more entertaining as the squirrels attempt to get to the bird seed and fail. I used my new Gopro "session" camera and got some pretty interesting shots of the birds as they enter from inside and outside the feeder!! ● GLASS CUTTER https://amzn.to/2MGo4F1 ● ALL PUPOSE SILICONE https://amzn.to/2K4Yvgb ● MILWAUKEE 12V DRILL http://amzn.to/2puSqQU ● MY CANON CAMERA https://amzn.to/2K36NFB ● MY RODE MICROPHONE https://amzn.to/2HLWO6B ● GOPRO CAMERAhttps://amzn.to/2qN9pyv ---------------------------------------PARTS LIST------------------------------------------- 1) 1.5" (3.8cm) salvaged copper pipe cut into 3/4"(19mm) lengths 2) Salvaged window glass. Gather 2x4s and Cut out the 54 Jenga Pieces With the 2″x4″ boards, we cut 54 Jenga pieces at 10 1/2″ each. I’d recommend setting up a ‘stop’ on your miter saw to make the process go much quicker. Sand the Jenga Pieces Using either an orbital saw or a benchtop belt sander, we sand each piece smooth on the ends and the sides. We had a pretty good assembly line going between me cutting the pieces and passing down the line to my brother and his fiance who were sanding. Stack the Jenga Pieces up Place your constructed plywood and 2″x4″ platform on the ground and stack up the 2″x4″ Jenga pieces in rows of 3, alternating the direction of stacking every layer. Play Jenga! This is a great, fun project to make with a friend or family members. This Giant Jenga Game is a hit at wedding receptions, family reunions, bbq’s, or any other get together. See how long you can play until it all falls down! Have fun and build a DIY Giant Jenga Game! ---- Looking for more DIY videos? Be sure to check out our channel and subscribe for updates! Was built using old wood scraps and spare screws. Purchased nothing specifically for this job :) add's to the satisfaction. We had a power outage that day too, so everything was cut with a hand saw minus the metal sheet when it came back on that arvo. Got a question ? I'm here to help, so leave a comment or PM me :) Like, Subscribe, Stay tuned ! RoadRunner. I do not own the musical content in this video, all rights reserved to artist/producer

Hey Ho, There are a lot of squirrels in my neighborhood and maybe some of them are still homeless or they got kicked out of their apartment or house or they have to move eg for a new job, etc. etc.. And because I'm a nice guy I thought I build a squirrel house, NO!, a squirrel mansion for a lucky squirrel. Of course they can live in it for free and I also give them free wifi, cable and awesome nuts! The only thing what they have to pay is the power bill. You know, its just really hard on my wallet if they let the electric heater run 24/7. It was only the second time in my life that I built a house (the first one was a birdhouse) and with that fact on my mind I think it turned out pretty wicked! The building process was business as usual - errrything worked out fabulous! :) I hope you'll enjoy the video as much as I enjoy a fresh Leberkassemme! Oh.. btw. Oachkatzal is bavarian for squirrel. If you enjoyed the video and like the stuff that I'm doing squirrelscribe, so you dont oversleep my future projects! Have a grrreat 2017! Cheers!
