Chef Joel Shaefer makes a recipe from his upcoming cookbook, "Cooking with the Allergy Chef." Chicken Fried Steak originated in the 20th century in Texas where the steak was prepared like fried chicken and served with a peppery white sauce. Our version is a little different, because the meat is pan-fried instead of deep-fried. To make life easier, we substituted hamburger patties for tenderized cube steaks. This recipe is free of the top eight food allergens. Ingredients 2 cups gluten-free flour blend 2 teaspoons dried thyme, crushed 2 teaspoons dried oregano, crushed 2 teaspoons black pepper 1 tablespoon kosher salt 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper 2 large eggs, whisked (OPTIONAL) ¾ cup alternative milk, such as unsweetened almond, soy or hemp 4 (4-ounce) hamburger patties ¼ cup vegetable oil for pan-frying Southwestern Cheeze Sauce (see page…) Method 1. Prepare Southwestern Cheeze Sauce (recipe below). Keep warm. 2. Preheat oven to 425°F. 3. In a mixing bowl, combine gluten-free flour blend, thyme, oregano, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper; mix together with a whisk. Divide into 2 pans. Set aside. 4. In a medium bowl, whisk eggs and add milk. Place in a pan and set aside. 5. Taking one piece of meat at a time, coat in first pan of seasoned flour. Shake off excess flour and dip into liquid mixture to coat all sides. Let excess liquid drip off meat. Place in second pan of seasoned flour and coat evenly, pressing flour on all sides. 6. Place on sheet pan lined with foil. Repeat above steps with remaining 3 pieces of meat. 7. Heat oil in sauté pan over medium-high heat. When oil begins to shimmer, add 2 pieces of meat. Cook for 2 minutes on each side, turning with tongs. Return meat to sheet pan. Repeat procedure with remaining 2 pieces of meat. 8. When all meat is browned, place in oven and bake for 5 minutes. 9. Transfer meat to a serving plate and top each steak with ¼ cup of cheese sauce. YIELDS: 4 SERVINGS. This option is made by replacing the sausage and bacon with a fried chicken patty and don’t forget the syrup! So many people order this combination, it’s surprising they haven’t added it to their menu as a standard option. 4 - A little extra in your pocket… Keen to save up to $10 when ordering pizza? Order a large carryout 3-topping pizza and ask for ham, bacon and pineapple. You pretty much have an Hawaiian pizza just without the Parmesan asiago and roasted red peppers. Order those as additional toppings, and it works out way cheaper! 3 - Worth a try… You can try this one with any pizza place. Give them a call to find out if there were any orders that weren’t collected or delivered, and you’re bound to pick up the pizza at a discounted rate! 2 - Keep it cool… Iced coffees are the perfect refresher in the summer, and here’s a way to save $1.60! I had such a hard time deciding between Wingstop and Buffalo Wild Wings for this mukbang episode. For research, I surveyed all my friends/co-workers on which brand of wings they preferred. By a large margin, Wingstop prevailed as the preferred chicken wing shop. This would be my first time ever having Wingstop and I can't help but think to myself - "where the hell have you been all my damn life"?? Despite the ranch and bleu cheese condiment fiasco I had, the wings fared well, alone; the flavors were delicious, especially the lemon pepper. In comparison to Buffalo Wild Wings, I found that Wingstop wings were meatier and more flavorful, all around and deep into the bone. Buffalo Wild Wings is often hyperfocused on the sauciness of their wings and tend to neglect the flavors of the actual wing altogether. Lemon pepper was my favorite and I highly recommend that you try it. It's quick and easy to make your own seed milk from sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and hemp seeds. All are free of dairy, nuts and sugar. Suitable for nut / tree-nut allergies and of course dairy allergies. Also as seeds are much cheaper than nuts these recipes are budget friendly. The four vegan milk recipes in this video are for sunflower seed milk, pumpkin seed carrot milk, cacao hemp seed milk and sesame cinnamon milk. Seeds are usually not heat treated so are suitable for a raw food diet, unlike many nuts. All will last for several days in the fridge but may separate and need a quick stir. Vegan Crispy, Spicy, Tofu Nuggets are a 'goto' favorite of ours! Panko breadcrumbs make this a crispy treat that goes awesome with your favorite dipping sauces! Dressings Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5sakMySzaI Dressings Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vs1SGed1ff8&t=213s RECIPE: CRISPY SPICY TOFU NUGGETS INGREDIENTS: 1 block firm of extra firm tofu, drained, pressed and cubed Approx. 1/3c hot sauce (your favorite brand) Approx. 1/2c plain panko breadcrumbs INSTRUCTIONS: In a bowl, toss the cubes of tofu in the hot sauce until they cubes are coated. Pour in the breadcrumbs and shake until cubes are coated. You may need to add more. Air fry on 400 for 12 minutes, shaking half way Optional- you can spray your air fryer with oil. It works fine without although you must shake to prevent sticking! If you are using an oven, use a silicone baking mat, parchment or a lightly greased cookie sheet. 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Move them around at the halfway mark to ensure even browning. SUGGESTIONS: Toss in a salad, dip in your favorite dips and dressings, toss in water stir-fried veggies. I suffered from an upset stomach for most of my childhood, and was deemed "lactose intolerant" at a young age. But, once high school began, I was getting too sick to just avoid dairy. Upon my diagnosis, I began experimenting with my diet, in addition to taking over a dozen prescription drugs for my illness. I found myself eating the "white diet" for almost six years, which consisted of mostly fiberless, processed foods such as white bread, processed meat, egg whites, and sugary cereals. This diet allowed me to live my life outside of the bathroom, but did not aid in healing. Additionally, I developed chronic migraines, debilitating allergies, depression, and anxiety. Around age 19, I began experimenting again with my diet, and tried to incorporate more healthy foods. I introduced vegetables and fruits into my diet, and started eliminating highly processed foods. Through this journey, I stumbled upon a whole foods diet, leading to veganism eight months later. One month after going vegan, I found Fully Raw Kristina on YouTube, and binge watched her videos. The next morning, I woke up and ate bananas for breakfast, and have been a happy frugivore since. It’s been over two years now! This lifestyle shift allowed me to get off all prescription drugs, and be completely symptom free! The fruit-based vegan lifestyle has helped me turn a negative diagnosis into a positive lifestyle change. Through this journey, I have manifested my dream life of optimal health and happiness.

I love this recipe. The Blue Hokkaido squash is very similar to traditional Kabocha squash. Both go very well over rice. The fig leaf rice complements the squash with it's subtle nutty flavor and aroma. This is a great recipe to get creative with if you like. You mentioned that you gave your 2 year old little girl pecans, and you're wondering if that was bad. And in and of itself, it wasn't bad to give her pecans, because pecans, themselves, won't be harmful to them (her) unless she had a nut allergy or something. But giving it to her is not going to increase the chances of her having an allergy. The biggest concern is choking. Nuts are considered a choking hazard, and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under the age of 4 don't consume nuts or seeds. And other things that you should watch out for include hotdogs, grapes, raw carrots - really, any type of food that could get lodged in their throat. Fruit snacks have even been associated with choking. So it's always best to just make sure that the food you're giving your child is the appropriate size, and that they have teeth to chew it if it's a little bit harder. And just be present when your child is eating, so that they don't choke and they're unsupervised. This is the age where children put a lot of different things in their mouth too, where you have to follow them around, and keep the floor vacuumed, and keep small pieces out of their reach. So just do a general sweep of the room. When you put your child down on the floor, make sure that there aren't buttons, balloons, small toys that they can fit in their mouth, marbles, bouncy balls - really, any small object that they can put in their mouth, just get it off the floor and out of their reach. Keep them distracted with toys that are larger and more age-appropriate. An issue that stops many people that are eating a Standard American Diet from beginning a new dietary lifestyle is often the fact that they greatly dislike the taste of fruits and vegetables. Oftentimes this very fact prevents them from even being open to ways of eating that don't involve processed chemical laden foods. We do not recommend starting solid foods before four months of age. Ideally, a breastfed infant will not start solid foods until six months of age. Some formula fed babies do start cereals at four months of age. We recommend starting with a rice cereal and then trying an oatmeal cereal and then the baby can progress to fruits and vegetables. There's not many do's and don'ts. Babies can have most fruits and vegetables. At six months infants who are breastfed usually start eating solids, so their solid schedule's a little bit delayed compared to a formula fed baby, but they're doing the same pattern. We recommend fruits and vegetables, Stage One's, that are blended. If you make it at home it has to be very soupy and blended. At six months of age babies can also do blended meats, depending on the parents. So you can do beef, chicken, turkey, veal, lamb. Those are all very hypoallergenic foods as long as they're blended and mashed for the baby. We do not recommend giving fish to babies at this age because there can be bones in the fish, and also fish is a more allergic food, so I like to start a light flaky fish around nine months of age, and it has to be very mashed to make sure that there's no bones in the fish. Babies cannot have honey until age one. Babies cannot have any kind of peanut or choking nut until age three because they can swallow it whole and aspirate it into their lung. There's a very large range of literature regarding food allergies in babies. So some pediatricians say, “Just give the baby everything. Eggs, milk products, like yogurt and cheese.” From six months there's no studies that show that delaying these foods will prevent food allergies. And some pediatricians still like to stage the introduction of more allergic foods, like yogurts and cheeses, till nine months of age, and start eggs after nine months of age. Some pediatricians recommend separating, and giving the egg yolk first at nine months, and then a week later try the egg white and once you know your baby's not allergic to the egg white and the egg yolk, then you can give the whole egg altogether. Some pediatricians don't like to introduce peanut or nut flavor until after one or two years. I personally, if you don't have a family history of food allergies, I don't mind starting nut flavoring before one year of age, as long as there's no nuts in the food. If I see a baby's had signs of atopic dermatitis, which is eczema or rashes, or been a sensitive child, I might individually design a food schedule for that family to delay highly allergic foods to be introduced later on. Every pediatrician is different. Every family is different. Every culture is different, so it's really important to discuss this with your pediatrician and find out what the best pattern is for your child.
