Dr Chris Steele MBE talks about the importance of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is once again in the news. It has been claimed that supplements of the sunshine vitamin could spare more than 3 million people from colds and flu each year in the UK. The team from Queen Mary University of London looked at data from 25 separate trials on the value of supplements and studied respiratory tract infections in particular. They found that out of every 33 people taking vitamin D supplements, one person would be spared infection. This compares favourably to the flu vaccination, although flu is far more serious than the common cold. The analysis argues that food should be fortified with the vitamin. Public Health England, while recommending supplements, says the data is not conclusive. Why are so many of us deficient in Vitamin D? The often dull British weather is the source of much complaint, but is it actually having a negative impact on our health? According to the government’s Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN), the lack of sunshine in Autumn and Winter is leaving many of us with worryingly low levels of vitamin D. It is estimated that one in five British adults, and one in six children, have low levels of the vitamin. SACN investigated the link between such deficiency and various health problems, including musculoskeletal health problems, heart disease, type 1 diabetes, cancer and multiple sclerosis. Those deduced to be most at risk of health problems related to vitamin D deficiency were pregnant women, children up to the age of 5, and adults over the age of 65. Those with darker skin and those who generally do not expose their skin to sunlight very often are also less likely to have healthy levels of vitamin D. SACN says that it is important for those high-risk groups to be boosting their vitamin D intake with supplements. As there is no easy way to assess who is getting enough, the committee has proposed a blanket recommendation for everyone, because the risk of getting too much of the vitamin is considered to be extremely low. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to various health problems, but most notably causes rickets and brittle bones. Supplements to help you avoid these problems are widely available, and the NHS recommends that adults in need of supplementation take 10 micrograms a day. Vitamin D has several important functions, but its main job is to help regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body – nutrients which are needed to keep bones and teeth healthy. What are the Effects of a Vitamin D Deficiency? A lack of vitamin D can cause of number of different bone problems. You may experience bone pain and muscle weakness, or develop rickets – a disease in which the bone tissue doesn’t properly mineralise. Research also suggests that a long-term lack of the vitamin has an impact on your general health, and may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and cognitive impairment. What are Good Sources of Vitamin D? Our bodies make most of the vitamin D we need in reaction to sunlight on our skin so it’s important to regularly spend time outdoors. In the UK, however, our skin is only able to make vitamin D in the summer because the winter sunlight doesn’t have enough UVB radiation to aid the production of it. The vitamin can also be found in a number of foods, including: Oily fish such as salmon, sardines and mackerel Eggs Fortified fat spreads Fortified breakfast cereals Some powdered milks These foods, along with our body’s stores, were previously thought to provide us with the vitamin D we needed in the winter. Officials are now concerned that the recommended level of 10 micrograms a day may not be achievable by diet alone. How Much Vitamin D Do You Need? Previous thinking was that most people could get all of the vitamin D they needed by regularly spending time outdoors and eating a healthy balanced diet. Those most at risk of deficiency were thought to be: Pregnant and breastfeeding women Babies and children under the age of 5 People over the age of 65 People who are rarely exposed to the sun, such as those who are housebound Now the change of advice suggests that everyone over the age of one needs to consume 10 micrograms of vitamin D each day. This advice is based on evidence looked at over the last five years. Public health officials now say that, in winter months, people should consider getting this from supplements if their diet is unlikely to provide it.

From Today Tonight - From A to zinc, a staggering 70 per cent of Australians buy nutritional supplements, spending on average $200 per year: a total of $2.3 billion. But it is hard to know which to choose, from a mind-blowing 30,000 different types on the market. An extraordinary scientific analysis by a team of Canadian and US biochemists may come to the rescue. They have thoroughly examined more than 100 leading multivitamins available in Australia and New Zealand, evaluating and comparing their formulations by separating and measuring each ingredient: vitamins, minerals antioxidants and other components.

How to know that your body is low on essential vitamins. Having a well-balanced and nutritious diet can provide your body with many health benefits. But with every balanced and nutritious diet, there is always someone who has a diet that is lacking certain nutrients. This can cause some unpleasant symptoms. We tend to get frustrated when these symptoms occur, but this is the only way your body can communicate that you have certain vitamin or mineral deficiencies. By recognizing them, you’ll be able to rectify your diet accordingly. Of course, if you think that you may have a vitamin deficiency, it is always in your best interest to consult with a doctor first before making any change to your health care or diet. #Diet #Health #Vitamins Timestamps: 1 Brittle Hair and Nails: 1:13 2 Mouth Ulcers: 2:26 3 Bleeding Gums: 3:51 4 Poor Vision At Night: 5:16 5 Scaly Patches and Dandruff: 5:43 6 Hair Loss: 6:36 7 White and Red Bumps On Your Skin: 8:24 8 Restless Leg Syndrome: 9:17 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music Summary: 1 Brittle Hair and Nails: One of the main vitamin deficiencies that can cause brittle hair and nails is biotin deficiency. According to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, individuals who constantly consume raw egg whites over long periods of time can become biotin deficient. 2 Mouth Ulcers: Have you ever gotten a canker sore or crack on the side of your mouth? If you have, chances are you may be suffering from low iron or vitamin B. According to one study published on PubMed, 144 patients in the United Kingdom who had oral disease were examined in order to try and resolve the controversy of whether or not levels of hemoglobin, blood cell numbers and indices, and blood film are adequate in the screening of patients with mouth ulcers. 3 Bleeding Gums: Sometimes when you brush your teeth aggressively, you end up with bleeding gums. Other times you may have a serious case of bad oral health, but sometimes a diet that is lacking vitamin C can contribute to your bleeding gums. According to the National Institute of Health, as vitamin C deficiency progresses, collagen synthesis becomes impaired and connective tissues in the body become weak. This can cause several health issues to occur, which includes swollen, bleeding gums and even loosening of teeth, because of how weak the tissues have become. 4 Poor Vision At Night: If your diet is lacking vitamin A, you may suffer from night blindness, according to an article published on PubMed. The article elaborated by explaining that if this symptom is left untreated; it can progress and become xerophthalmia, which is a condition that can damage the cornea and can potentially lead to blindness. 5 Scaly Patches and Dandruff: Scaly patches and dandruff can be caused by many different factors. According to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, vitamin B6 deficiency can be one of them. According to the book Human Vitamin B6 Requirements, one of the main causes of seborrheic dermatitis is vitamin B6 deficiency. If you are unfamiliar with seborrheic dermatitis, it is a common skin condition that mainly affects the scalp. The reason this occurs is that vitamin B6 is important for new cell production. 6 Hair Loss: According to a study published in the British Journal of Dermatology, vitamin D deficiency has been linked to alopecia, the autoimmune condition that causes bald patches on the scalp and other areas of the body. The main purpose of the study was to evaluate the status of vitamin D in patients who had alopecia areata and the relationship between vitamin D levels and the severity of the disease. 7 White and Red Bumps On Your Skin: If you ever have red or white bumps on your skin, you may be suffering from keratosis pilaris – small red or white bumps resembling acne and rough patches of skin on the arms, thighs and buttocks. Keratosis pilaris is a purely cosmetic condition that has no negative health effects and normally does not hurt or itch, according to Livestrong. 8 Restless Leg Syndrome: The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke states that restless leg syndrome affects up to 10% of Americans, and women are twice as likely to experience it. According to an article published on PubMed, there are two possible known causes for restless leg syndrome: CNS dopaminergic abnormality and CNS iron insufficiency. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Bestie : https://goo.gl/tUqro6 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bestieinc/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.bestie.com/

http://www.kirkspoweraging.com Dry Eyes, The Fats We Eat and Simple Tips You Can Do I just came across and article entitled, “Oral omega-3 fatty acids treatment in computer vision syndrome related dry eye” which showed that two capsules of omega-3 fatty acids each containing 180mg eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and 120mg docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) daily for 3 months improved dry eye symptoms and eye parameters. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25697893 Here is some simple things you can do for dry eyes: Aside from stop starring without blinking in front of a computer screen, dry eyes, especially when you wake up in the morning, can be helped by the following things: - Cup your palms over your eyes for 2-3 minutes so you are starring into "blackness" every 1/2 ideally you are at the computer screen. - Go on a trial of being off all alcohol, caffeine, obvious sugars and dairy products, wheat and eggs. Or just choose ALL your foods and drink from my elimination diet (BED Diet) for two weeks. You won't die and other annoying symptoms will probably go away that you didn't know was caused by food! https://www.mcssl.com/content/204163/Educational_Handouts/Kirks-21-Day-Power-Aging-Program_BED_FOOD_LIST.pdf - Drink 4-6 glasses of water daily. - Take two tablespoons of cold pressed organic flaxseed oil daily and/or 360-540 mg EPA and 240-360 mg of DHA from either fish or algal oil (vegetarian from seaweed). - Eat dark berries daily. - Eat handful of greens and handful of orange yellow vegetables daily. - For 1 month take also: Vitamin A 5000 IU/d (not beta-carotene but vitamin A - retinol) Vitamin C 1000-2000 mg/d Vitamin D 2000-5000 IU/d Culturelle 2/d (probiotic) - Watch allergens around your bedroom if wake up in the morning with dry eyes (foods night before, dust, animals, windows open, mold on floor). - Watch you medications, especially antihistamines. Additional References: "Omega-3 essential fatty acids therapy for dry eye syndrome: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled studies."CONCLUSIONS: From this meta-analysis omega-3 fatty acid supplementation was associated with better (greater) tear break-up time (TBUT) and Schirmer's test. From these findings omega-3 fatty acid offers is an effective therapy for dry eye syndrome. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25193932 “Effectiveness and tolerability of dietary supplementation with a combination of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants in the treatment of dry eye symptoms: results of a prospective study.” CONCLUSION: Dietary supplementation with a combination of omega-3 essential fatty acids and antioxidants (Brudysec® 1.5 g/daily for 12 weeks) was an effective treatment for dry eye. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24421636 “A randomized controlled trial of omega-3 fatty acids in dry eye syndrome.” CONCLUSION: Omega-3 fatty acids at one capsule (500mg) two times a day each containing 325mg EPA and 175mg DHA for 3 months improved dry eye syndrome. The benefit seems to be greater in conditions such as blepharitis and meibomian gland disease. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25193932 "A randomized, double-masked study to evaluate the effect of omega-3 fatty acids supplementation in meibomian gland dysfunction." CONCLUSION: Oral omega-3 fatty acids, 1.5 grams per day, may be beneficial in the treatment of MGD, mainly by improving tear stability. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24039409 - "Expert Pearls" and Interviews on Dry Eyes http://www.prescription2000.com/articles?catid=371 Be and Stay Well, Kirk You can call Kirk for brief health and medical questions at Health Associates Medical Group where he works at (916)489-4400 Monday thru Friday 8-9:00 a.m. PST. _______________________________ Sign up for my FREE Newsletter - "Kirk's PowerAging Tips" https://www.mcssl.com/WebForms/WebForm.aspx?wid=89a3c71a-2d77-4515-8873-265c34375c26 "Staying Healthy in the Fast Lane" book by Kirk Hamilton - Kindle Version http://www.amazon.com/Staying-Healthy-Fast-Lane-Optimal/dp/1890302112 U.S. print http://www.kickstartcart.com/SecureCart/SecureCart.aspx?mid=C576193A-86B0-4087-B8E6-51CD1BC5C341&pid=c6d8ce704b92471081e0847757900f39 Foreign print http://www.kickstartcart.com/SecureCart/SecureCart.aspx?mid=C576193A-86B0-4087-B8E6-51CD1BC5C341&pid=ee6adef94ff341749b869e6bebeda456 Mexico – Canada print http://www.kickstartcart.com/SecureCart/SecureCart.aspx?mid=C576193A-86B0-4087-B8E6-51CD1BC5C341&pid=b2448c5ecde14a809351e7517041190f Kirks 21 Day PowerAging Program for Business Travelers (E-Book and Course) http://www.kickstartcart.com/SecureCart/SecureCart.aspx?mid=C576193A-86B0-4087-B8E6-51CD1BC5C341&pid=33dbf8b724ed4ba890f27d3facfbd209&bn=1 Kirk Hamilton Author Facebook https://www.facebook.com/kirkhamilton.author Kirk Hamilton's CV: http://www.prescription2000.com/about/curriculum-vitae Email: KirkHamilton@prescription2000.com

Although most adults would be hard pressed to name a good food source of biotin or riboflavin, most everyone can name citrus fruits as good sources of vitamin C. It is also a commonly used nutritional supplement. The first use of modern scientific methods to assess disease treatment was when the British navy used foods containing vitamin C (although the vitamin itself would remain undiscovered for nearly two centuries) to prevent scurvy among sailors. You could make a good case that this nutrition experiment is among the most important scientific findings in human history. Despite the familiarity of the U.S. public with vitamin C and the popularity of vitamin C supplements, food intake of vitamin C by the average U.S. adult is not much higher than the Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) level. For men in the U.S. twenty years and older, this average is 96 milligrams per day, and for women in the U.S. twenty years and older, it is 82 milligrams per day. (The DRIs for these two groups are 90 milligrams and 75 milligrams, respectively.) So even though U.S. adults are averaging adequate intake of vitamin C intake from their food, the amount is not as high as some people might expect given widespread familiarity and interest in vitamin C. Of the World's Healthiest Foods, a staggering 27 rate as excellent sources of vitamin C. Six of these contain a full day's requirement of vitamin C in a single serving. We also rate 14 very good and 14 good sources of the vitamin. This should give you plenty of variety with which to build a menu plan that easily exceeds your vitamin C goal. Role in Health Support Protection Against Excess Free Radicals Vitamin C is probably best known as an antioxidant. This is a word that we use frequently but don't always stop to think about in terms of its meaning. Antioxidants are forms of molecules that help keep chemical reactions in our body in check. In particular, antioxidants help prevent excessive activity on the part of free radical molecules. (Free radicals are forms of molecules that tend to be very reactive, and too many free radicals in the wrong place at the wrong time can do damage to our cells and tissue.) Vitamin C and other antioxidants help prevent that damage. Damage to the lens of the eye, damage to molecules circulating around in our bloodstream, and damage to genetic material (DNA) in our cells are all examples of damage that have been shown to be prevented under certain circumstances by vitamin C. One interesting application of vitamin C as an antioxidant is its ability to transform iron into a state that is better absorbed in the intestine. Including vitamin C-rich foods in recipes with your best iron sources can potentially be a way to enhance iron absorption. Collagen Vitamin C is required to produce collagen, a protein that plays a critical role in the structure of our bodies. Collagen is the framework for our skin and our bones, and without it, we would quite literally fall apart. This is exactly what we see with severe vitamin C deficiency, or scurvy. People who have this condition lose teeth, bleed easily, and lose the strength of their bones. Luckily, it doesn't take much vitamin C to prevent this problem. As we've known for more than two centuries, a single lime per day would usually be enough. (However, as described earlier, we have dozens and dozens of great food choices that will give us as much vitamin C as a single lime!) Brain Health Vitamin C is necessary to make certain neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters are the signals that carry thoughts, feelings, and commands around our brains and throughout our nervous system. In particular, we need vitamin C to produce serotonin, a hormone that plays a critical role in wide variety of body systems, including the nervous system, endocrine system, immune system, and digestive system. Many of our moods, daily bodily rhythms (including sleep-wake cycles), and experiences of stress and pain have serotonin included as a factor in their occurrence. Some of the most commonly used prescription medications for depression (SSRIs, or Selective Serotonin Reupdate Inhibitors) also target this hormone. While we are not suggesting that dietary intake of vitamin C will automatically improve the quality of any experiences described above, we do recommend that you include vitamin C-rich foods on a daily basis as part of your overall well-being.

Best Horse Vitamin And Mineral Supplement Vitamins and minerals are often added to a grain mix to ensure it is balanced and meets a horse’s minimal nutritional requirements. A vitamin and mineral premix should be specific for the classification of horse. It is usually added to the grain mix and bound either with molasses in a textured feed or pelleted. The key to using vitamin and mineral supplements is to incorporate them to balance the diet and to avoid over-supplementation. If you are using a grain mix that already includes vitamins and minerals specifically for your horse’s age, workload, and production status, then you shouldn’t need to top-dress with additional vitamins and minerals. Not only is this an expensive practice, but you are disrupting the diet’s carefully formulated nutrient calculations. 1 - Evaluating Vitamin and Mineral Status 2 - Ration Evaluation 3 - Blood Analysis 4 - Hair Analysis 5 - Selenium and Vitamin E 6 - Selenium 7 - Vitamin E 8 - Feeding Vitamin and Mineral Supplements 9 - Hay Balancer 10 - Hoof Quality 11 - Free Choice Salt 12 – Conclusion Research and Sources: https://www.myhorseuniversity.com Music: Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds

http://www.VitaminDCouponCodes.com Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent all over the world and is associated with many disorders. For example, there are several studies confirming the link between low levels of vitamin D and depression. But, an interesting recent study was conducted to establish the role of vitamin D in psychiatric health. The researchers examined data from 19 studies that were published between 1988 and 2013. The data analysis was made to assess the vitamin D levels in adult patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. The review included over 2,800 participants, which shows that patients with Vitamin D deficiency were more than twice as likely to be diagnosed with schizophrenia than those who have sufficient Vitamin D levels. Moreover, 65% of the schizophrenia patients had low levels of vitamin D in the body. In addition, 65% of the patients who had schizophrenia also had lower levels of vitamin D. A study conducted at the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in Iran showed that vitamin D deficient individuals had 2.16 times increased risk of schizophrenia. The author of the study noted that the results support the importance of vitamin D in psychological health and brain functions. A study conducted in the US also confirms what medical professionals were expecting. Dr. Holick at Boston University Medical Center in Massachusetts was enthusiastic to announce his findings. According to Holick, the investigators took into account the sunlight exposure of the schizophrenic patients that are more likely to be vitamin D deficient, as well as many varieties of variables. The data gathered were consistent with the concept that the increased risk for schizophrenia is associated with vitamin D deficiency. Furthermore, Holick noted that approximately one-third of the population around the world are vitamin D deficient. The remaining two-thirds of the population are vitamin D insufficient or deficient. Therefore, vitamin D supplementation, like our PLATINUM Series Vitamin D3, is highly recommended. For children 1 year and older, the Endocrine Society recommends 600 to 1000 units per day. For adults, it is best to take 800 to 2000 units daily. For people who are obese or overweight, they need 2 to 3 times more dosage than those with normal weight to treat and satisfy their deficiency. However, there are not specific recommendations for vitamin D supplementation for pregnant women. Although many advise to take 2000-5000 units per day together with dietary sources of vitamin D, such as milk and normal vitamins for pregnant women. In a recent study conducted in South Carolina, pregnant women who are taking 4000 units of vitamin D per day maintained healthy levels of vitamin D in the body and no adverse toxicity. Thus, pregnant women may prefer 4000 units daily. Though it may not be possible to prevent schizophrenia, taking vitamin D helps decrease the risk for this disorder. The researchers conclude that there are two times higher risk of having schizophrenia based on being vitamin D deficient. Spirulina is a species of edible single-celled blue-green algae or cyanobacteria that is particularly known for its ability to convert sunlight into green concentrated sources of protein, fatty acids, antioxidants, like phycocyanin, as well as certain vitamins and minerals. Providing a source of complete plant-based protein, it has been utilized extensively as a nutritional supplement by NASA and for treating malnutrition in developing nations. Commonly available as a bulk powder or in tablet form, it makes an ideal superfood adjunct for modern-day living because of its energizing nutrients and detoxifying compounds, both of which promote heightened mental acuity and increased immune response. We'll also discuss how this microalgae is cultivated, the controversial spirulina toxins microcystin and BMAA, and how to ensure product purity. Visit http://po.st/CBDCannabidiol CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol, a prominent naturally-occurring cannabinoid component found in cannabis that comprises up to 40% of the plant. Cannabidiol is “a cannabinoid devoid of psychoactive effect.” After THC (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is by far the most studied natural cannabinoid. According to many researchers, CBD may be the single most important cannabinoid ever discovered. What is the endocannabinoid system? The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is one of science’s newest and most exciting discoveries. The ECS regulates relaxation, eating, sleeping, certain inflammatory responses and even cognitive function. There are two types of cannabinoid receptors found throughout the body (CB1 and CB2), but they are most abundant in the brain and immune system respectively. In a nutshell, your ECS is responsible for making sure your entire body is working optimally—no small task! Why would hemp (instead of marijuana) be grown for cannabidiol (CBD)? Industrial hemp is naturally high in CBD and naturally low in THC. Most marijuana is just the opposite (high THC, low CBD). Our industrial hemp is considered Cannabis sativa L., although we have developed our own unique cultivars of this particular type of industrial hemp. Through a combination of these unique cultivars, advanced plant genetics, and cutting-edge growing techniques, an exceptionally high percentage of CBD can be produced naturally and consistently in the hemp plant. When natural CBD hemp oil is produced from these hemp cultivars—which can be grown legally in dozens of countries and whose oil can be imported to the USA legally—it doesn’t make legal or practical sense to obtain CBD oil from marijuana. Will CBD help me with my illness? Due to federal regulations, we cannot make claims about whether or not CBD hemp oil can help with specific ailments. We do, however, suggest that you conduct your own research. Will CBD help me if I’m healthy? Each individual is unique and has different wellness goals they are interested in addressing through the consumption and application of our products. Although some of our founders are medical professionals, we cannot make medical claims about the benefits of our products. ⇨ Shop LEGAL CBD-rich Hemp Oil Products: http://po.st/CBDCannabidiol ^The products sold from this website are considered nutritional supplements or personal care products, according to federal guidelines. Can I get high from CBD products? Our CBD hemp oil comes from carefully-cultivated hemp plants—not marijuana—which is why it is legal for us to import and use this CBD oil. Our supplier spent years developing special cultivars of the hemp that produce naturally high levels of CBD and only trace amounts of THC, the psychoactive compound that gives marijuana users the “high” feeling. For reference, most recreational cannabis plants have between 5% to over 20% THC. Is KANNAWAY CBD synthetic? No. Our CBD is a natural constituent of industrial hemp oil. Can you make any claims about what CBD can do? No. Our CBD is simply a natural constituent of industrial hemp oil. A great way to think about it is that it is comparable to vitamin C. Many take a daily Vitamin C supplement therefore reap the many benefits of the compound however its hard to pinpoint exactly how it worked or what conditions it treated or prevented. Something I forgot to mention in this video was - People generally have a hard time in accepting this kind of information because "everyday science comes up with new studies that contradict their old findings". FREE EBOOKLET http://www.sweetnaturalliving.com This is what me and Mikkel eats in a day on a low fat raw vegan diet in Bangkok, Thailand! Starting the day off with a juicy breakfast of papaya is the best thing ever! Thailand has great papayas if you know what to look for! For lunch we had a delicious meal of durian, bananas and coconuts. Finally, we finished off our day with a meal of dragonfruits! Every day is different when it comes to a fruit based diet. There's so much variety! After more than 4 years eating this way, I feel better than ever and I love my life. Fruit satisfies me like no other food ever did and it does so while providing me with quality fuel and optimal nutrition so that I can have the energy and vitality to play and have fun! Contrary to popular belief, fruit actually fits our nutritional needs better than any other food group. When people evaluate the nutrient composition of fruit, they often do so on a nutrients per gram basis, as opposed to a nutrients per calorie basis! There's a crucial difference! Fruit is mostly water, an essential nutrient for sure, so you have to eat MORE volume to satisfy your caloric need. That is easy though. When you look at fruit on a per calorie bases you can see how nutritionally dense it really is! No more constipation, not more sluggish digestion - fruit flows easily through our system providing us with easily digestible fuel in the form of simple sugars (carbohydrate) to fuel every cell in our body! I mean, mangoes, papayas, coconuts, bananas, mangosteens, lychees, rambutans, dragonfruit, durian, jackfruit, mamey sapote, peaches, nectarines, melons, berries - the list goes on! Fruit is such excellent food for humans! So satisfying, so rich in organic sugars, fiber, water and essential nutrients for optimal health! The human body is a frugivore and we are optimally designed to eat sweet tropical fruits! The 80/10/10 diet is the ideal ratio of macronutrients since this is pretty much what we would do in our natural habitat. That means more than 80% of our calories coming from carbohydrates and less than 10% from protein and fat respectively. This is well supported by the scientific literature. Information on calories, macro nutrient ratio and some micronutrients is included in the last part of the video! Any questions you may have, feel free to post them down below or send us an email! To support our channel and level up your health, check out: Our Fast Weight Loss Course: http://thehealthnerds.com/the-science-of-fast-weight-loss-course Our Better Health Basics Course: http://thehealthnerds.com/food-health-happiness Today I am going to teach you guys how to read nutrition facts labels. One of the best ways to improve your health quickly is by learning how to read nutrition labels. The first thing you’ll notice at the top of nutrition facts are the serving size and servings per container. This is simply the “amount” in the package or container. Pretty self explanatory... Next you have the ingredients. Everything inside these black lines is representative of ONE serving. This is important to understand because, next you will see the calories and the calories from fat. This is pretty much the only thing most people ever look at and this is a common mistake… If the package says 200 calories on the bag of chips, but the serving per container says 2.5, that means there is actually 500 calories in the bag… This is a clever little marketing trick that you should pay attention to. Pressing on, you will see the total fat on the package along with a number and a percentage on the right hand side. The number represents the total fat in one serving and percentage represents the percentage based on a 2000 calorie diet. So 8 gram is 12% of a 2000 calorie diet. I should also remind you that fat is not bad for you and there are plenty of healthy foods that are high in fat. What you really want to watch out for is any trans fat. Trans fat is the kind linked to heart disease and all sorts of bad stuff. Avoid this at all costs. Saturated fat should be much less of a concern. This may surprise some of you, so I will link a few studies below that have conclusively proven that saturated fat is fine to eat and not the cause of the many diseases it was wrongly accused for. Think of saturated fat as the middle child of the fat family, he’s got a good heart but is just a little misunderstood. Now, you may be thinking, wait a minute… Why does the total number of saturated fat and trans fat not add up to the total fat at the top… Where’s the other 7 grams? Well this is because not all fats will be listed on the nutrition label. Only the nutrients deemed most important ever make it to the nutrition labels. Don’t worry though. The other fats not listed are generally healthy and should be much less of a concern. Pressing on you will see cholesterol and sodium. Remember, these numbers are based on ONE serving. If the sodium was 25% of your daily intake and the package had 2.5 servings in it. That means the entire package contains 63% of you daily sodium intake. Quite a bit considering this is one snack. Onward, you’ll sees the carbohydrate section. Carbohydrates are the breads, grains, fiber and SUGARS in the food. The first section you’ll see is for dietary fiber. Having a good amount of dietary fiber is a good thing as it helps with digestion and satisfaction from meals. Now the next section is what you need to pay attention to. The total sugars in the food you’re eating are important to watch out for as, like the trans fats, these have been linked to a whole host of diseases and health problems. Also you should be aware of not only the sugar in the food, but what kind of carbohydrates you’re eating. If the food is very high in carbohydrates, but low in dietary fiber, even though the carbs are not labeled as “sugar,” they will operate very similarly in the blood stream. These are called “simple carbs.” This is why you need to watch out for unrefined carbohydrates like white bread and pastas. Next up, you’ll see the label for protein. Knowing that foods high in protein lead to better satisfaction from meals, and promote lean muscle tissue, you will want most of the foods you eat to have a good amount of protein. Finally, we have a few key vitamins at the bottom. It may sound strange, but ignore these. The numbers will be notoriously low and you should be focusing instead on getting in lots of fruits and vegetables every day to meet your vitamin requirements. Leafy greens contain calcium and iron, and fruits contain vitamin c and a. The rest of the nutrition labels facts contain recommendations about how much of each category to get in. They do not change on nutrition labels and are not that important. Finally, on some labels you will see the calories per gram for each macronutrient. Fat contains 9 grams per serving and Carbohydrates and Proteins contain 4. So for every 10 grams of fat, you will have 90 calories. For every 10 grams of protein or carbs you will get 40 calories. Safe to say, you should now have a general understanding of how nutrition labels work. Most importantly, you can stop assuming something is healthy for you based on tricky packaging and start KNOWING the difference.

Consultation? - http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com Saturated Fats and Ketosis | Are Saturated Fats Safe and How Much to Have: Thomas DeLauer Saturated fats are common in the American diet They are shelf-stable, resistant to heat damage (solid at room temperature — think cooled bacon grease,) and essential to many bodily functions Roughly half of our cell membrane structure is composed of saturated fat, and saturated animal fats, like butter or fatty organ meats, contain huge amounts of essential fat-soluble vitamins (K2, A, D, among others) Common sources of saturated fat include red meat, whole milk and other whole-milk dairy foods, cheese, coconut oil, and many commercially prepared baked goods and other foods The word "saturated" refers to the number of hydrogen atoms surrounding each carbon atom The chain of carbon atoms holds as many hydrogen atoms as possible — it's saturated with hydrogens Saturated Fats Bad Rep The fear of saturated fat began in the 1950s when Ancel Keys published a paper supposedly linking saturated fat/cholesterol with rising rates of heart disease The theory - called lipid hypothesis - proposed that there was a direct relationship between the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol in the diet and the incidence of coronary heart disease Keys based his theory on a study of six countries, in which higher saturated fat intake equated to higher rates of heart disease However, he conveniently ignored data from 16 other countries that did not fit his theory Had he chosen a different set of countries, the data would have shown that increasing the percent of calories from fat reduces the number of deaths from coronary heart disease When you include all 22 countries for which data was available at the time of his study, you find that those who consume the highest percentage of saturated fat have the lowest risk of heart disease (7) Studies Prove Otherwise A meta-analysis study, published 2010, which pooled data from 21 studies and included nearly 348,000 adults, found no difference in the risks of heart disease and stroke between people with the lowest and highest intakes of saturated fat A Japanese prospective study that followed 58,000 men for an average of 14 years found no association between saturated fat intake and heart disease, and an inverse association between saturated fat and stroke (i.e. those who ate more saturated fat had a lower risk of stroke) (1,4) While in Ketosis There is a misconception that eating fat makes you fat Fat doesn’t make you fat. While you can technically overeat enough fat calories to accumulate adipose tissue, thus getting fat, this is a difficult feat Fat is very satiating, especially when paired with low-carb eating Dietary fat in the presence of large amounts of dietary carbohydrates can make it difficult to access fat for energy Dietary fat in the presence of low levels of dietary carbohydrates makes it easier to access fat for energy (5) References 1) Dietary intake of saturated fatty acids and mortality from cardiovascular disease in Japanese: the Japan Collaborative Cohort Study for Evaluation ... - PubMed - NCBI. (Bethesda, MD) Sibyl Swift, Ph.D., special assistant in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Office of Dietary Supplement Programs, talks about the FDA’s dietary supplement-related responsibilities and how the FDA’s regulation of dietary supplement products differs from those covering conventional foods and medicine. Dr. Swift explains the FDA’s role in regulating supplements versus the manufacturer’s responsibility for marketing them, as well as FDA’s post-marketing responsibilities for supplements, including safety monitoring and the provision of product information. She provides examples of the types of regulatory actions FDA has taken against potentially harmful and/or mislabeled supplements. This presentation is part of the 2017 Mary Frances Picciano Dietary Supplement Research Practicum sponsored by the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS). This 2.5-day annual event for faculty, students, and health practitioners provides a thorough overview of issues, concepts, unknowns, and controversies about dietary supplements and supplement ingredients. It also emphasizes the importance of scientific investigations to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and value of these products for health promotion and disease prevention as well as how to carry out this type of research. subscibe our chennel the remote hands also like our fb page https://www.facebook.com/News-latest-news-media-hub-1513612188943374/?ref=hl How to Increase Hair Growth With Vitamins If u like this video so lke our chenel the reomote hands for more intresting videos So you've been dying for long, lustrous hair and you've figured out that taking vitamins just might do the trick. Well, you are right! It's not as cut and dry as you think, but taking vitamin supplements will definitely make a difference in your rate of hair growth and the health of your hair. The following guidelines should help you with your mission to increase your hair growth with vitamins: Things You'll Need Vitamin Supplements Healthy Groceries A Willingness to Adopt a Healthier Lifestyle Before you waste time and money on all of your hair growth efforts, make sure that you have realistic expectations. There is a science to hair growth that most certainly involves genetics. Based on your hair growth cycle, for which you can thank mom and pop, your hair will only grow to a certain length before it sheds and a new hair pops back up in its place. So if everyone in moms family had shoulder length hair and everyone in dad's family had mid-back length hair or less, you will surely never be able to attain a goal of growing your hair to the base of your spine. When you have set an achievable goal, assess any damage to your hair and adopt a routine for treating this damage and preventing any new problems. Damaged hair will not thrive long enough for you to see the results of your new hair growth regimen. If not treated, this hair will fall out prematurely and actually undermine your efforts. Just peruse the products at your local beauty supply store and choose high quality treatments for hair damage. There are other culprits that can seriously sabotage your efforts. Check your current state of health and wellness. Stress, illness, a poor diet, and certain medications can contribute to accelerated hair loss and extremely slow hair growth. Visiting the doctor to get a clean bill of health, beginning an emotional wellness plan to reduce stress and anxiety, making sure your diet contains a variety of healthy and nutrient rich foods, and paying attention to the affects that the medications you are taking have on your body are all things you can do to gain control over these culprits. Once you are sure that nothing will stand in your way, choose your vitamin regimen and begin taking them on a daily basis. The most commonly used vitamins for hair growth are the B-Vitamins, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E. B-Vitamins include thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folic acid, and cobalamin. They all support various functions of the body, including oxidation, cell repair, DNA synthesis, and the breakdown of carbohydrates. Although each is a separate and distinct vitamin, they work in tandem to promote healthy, thicker, and longer hair. The easiest way to guarantee your intake of all 8 of these vitamins, is to take a B-Complex supplement. Make sure that the complex contains the daily requirements of each of the B's. You can also take additional amounts of one or more of the individual vitamins, like pantothenic acid or biotin, which many people feel benefit the hair growth cycle more than the others. Some foods that are rich in B-Vitamins include legumes, vegetables, grains, eggs, and liver. Vitamin C is an essential nutrient for a range of metabolic reactions in the body and is also a powerful antioxidant. It is a requirement for the synthesis of collagen, which is a protein that is a main component of hair. Add a Vitamin C supplement to your B-complex and increase your intake of foods that are high sources of Vitamin C. These foods include, citrus fruits, green peppers, strawberries, potatoes, leafy greens, and cantaloupe. Vitamin E is important in the formation of red blood cells and is an antioxidant that protects the body from damage caused by free radicals, which can affect cells, tissues, and organs. Regular doses of Vitamin E, either via a supplement or through food consumption, leads to improved circulation. The scalp reaps the rewards of this boost in cardiovascular function, and in turn, the growth cycle of the hair becomes more efficient. Food sources of vitamin E include asparagus, olives, seeds, avocado, almonds, vegetable oils, and cucumbers. In order for you to see results, consistency is vital. Your vitamins must be taken every single day, preferably at the same time each day. You must also stick with your other lifestyle changes. If you are not seeing results, re-visit all the health and wellness checkpoints. You may even need to up the dosage of supplements you are taking, without reaching levels that may be considered toxic. its about intresting information

To support our channel and level up your health, check out: Our Fast Weight Loss Course: http://thehealthnerds.com/the-science-of-fast-weight-loss-course Our Better Health Basics Course: http://thehealthnerds.com/food-health-happiness Like us on BookFace: https://www.facebook.com/thehealthnerds/ What do you call an egg taking a snooze on the job? Egg-zosted What day do eggs hate most? Fry-day If a fruit comes from a fruit tree, what kind of a tree does a chicken come from? A poul-tree I’m sorry nerd family… I had to do it. In this video, we are going to answer the question of are eggs good for you? And compare the benefits of egg whites vs. yolks. vs. eating no eggs at all. First, let’s look at the scientific arguments against eggs: #1. Eggs contain saturated fat This is true. But saturated fat does not cause heart disease… In the largest meta-analysis of cohort studies evaluating saturated fat and heart disease with 347,747 participants, there was absolutely no association between the two. http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/early/2010/01/13/ajcn.2009.27725.abstract Another study by the Cochran review with over 59,000 participants found that people who reduced their saturated fat intake were just as likely to die or get heart attacks https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21735388/ So the fear of saturated fat for healthy people is a little misguided. #2. Eggs are high in cholesterol Again this is true, but people respond to differently to dietary cholesterol. 70% of people who eat eggs do not see any raise in “bad” cholesterol and 30% of others see only a mild raising of LDL. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16340654 It also seems that those who are eating a healthy diet, see benefits in cholesterol from having eggs. In one study, 2 eggs per day for 6 weeks increased good cholesterol levels by 10% in people eating a good diet. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8120521 #3. Eggs are not allowed to be called healthy by the USDA Because of our first two points, the USDA will not call eggs healthy although they have updated their recommendations to not specifying an upper limit to cholesterol in 2016. The real truth is, if you’re trusting the USDA or the government to keep you healthy, you’re leaving a lot to chance. Just a couple years ago the government was telling people to pound muffins, bagels, and sugary cereals as a healthy way to start your day. Which was really, really dumb. Government recommendations move much slower than the actual science. I could insert something here about what our current government believes about global warming, but that’s another topic for another day. Now let’s look at the evidence that eggs are good for you: #1. Eggs are a decent source of a complete protein The protein found in eggs is complete with all essential amino acids intact. It also has 5-6 grams of protein per whole egg, depending on the size, so is a decent source. #2. Eggs are Filling Plenty of studies show that eggs promote fullness, are high on the satiety index, and help control hunger so you will naturally eat less at your next meal. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7498104 #3. Eggs contain helpful antioxidants for the eyes Two of the main ones are called Lutein and Zeaxanthin (z-ah-zan-thin) which are powerful antioxidants that can build up the retina of your eyes https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9286269 In one controlled trial, eating just 1.5 egg yolks per day for 4.5 weeks increased blood levels of Lutein by 28-50% and Zeaxanthin by 114-142% http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/70/2/247.short #4. Eggs do not raise risk of heart disease or stroke In one review of 17 studies with a total of 263,938 participants, found no association between egg consumption and heart disease or stroke. http://www.bmj.com/content/346/bmj.e8539 #5. Contain lots of vitamins and nutrients the body needs in varying amounts Vitamin A, Folate, Vitamin B5, B12, B2, D, E, K, Phosphorus, Selenium, Zinc, Calcium, and others. Also, pasture-raised eggs are high in omega-3’s. Sooooo what about just eating egg whites? Is there any benefit to this? The problem with the egg white approach is that the majority of the nutrients I just listed are found in the yolk. While egg whites are a great source of a complete protein without fat, I do suggest eating the whole egg in most circumstances. Can I eat too many? If eggs are going to be a part of your diet, there are plenty of studies with people eating up to 3 whole eggs a day having no adverse effects. You can probably eat more and be fine, but that’s the science we currently have. Hi Friends - In Today's video we are discussing Argan Oil. Its benefits and ways to use Argan Oil. I will be taking a closer look at Argan Oils beauty claims, researching the science behind it and talking through the many ways I have been using it for hair, skin and body. PLEASE NOTE: Be mindful when using argan oil if you have any nut allergies. While not technically a tree nut, it is a stone fruit and the oils come from the nut. You can always test the oil on the inside of your arm first to make sure that you don’t have an allergic reaction. Argan oil is a plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa L.) that is endemic to Morocco. In Morocco, argan oil is used to dip bread in at breakfast or to drizzle on couscous or pasta. It is also used for cosmetic purposes. The nut contains one to three oil-rich argan kernels. Extraction yields from 30% to 50% of the oil in the kernels, depending on the extraction method. Argan oil contains tocopherols (vitamin E), phenols, carotenes, squalene, and fatty acids, (80% unsaturated fatty acids) The main natural phenols in argan oil are caffeic acid, oleuropein, vanillic acid, tyrosol, catechol, resorcinol, (−)-epicatechin and (+)-catechin. Argan oil has become increasingly popular for cosmetic use. The number of personal-care products on the US market with Argan oil as an ingredient increased from just two in 2007 to over 100 by 2011. Argan oil is also sold without additives as a natural skincare and hair care product. Check out the best nootropic Supplements of 2017. What is a nootropic? A nootropic is a substance that enhances cognition and memory and facilitates learning. Although many Nootropics are considered pharmaceutical drugs, supplementing with a particular group of high quality nutraceuticals can provide the same results without the need for a prescription. Here are 5 nootropic nutraceuticals that are proven to enhance your brain power: Acetyl-L-Carnitine Vinpocetine Huperzine-A Alpha-GPC Phosphatidylserine (PS) Acetyl-L-Carnitine: As a Nootropic, the primary benefit that Acetyl-L-Carnitine offers is in its effects on Acetylcholine (ACH), an important neurotransmitter, responsible for: memory, learning, analysis, perception, computation and many more cognitive processes. Vinpocetine: Vinpocetine is a powerful, natural nootropic that passes the blood-brain barrier and boosts cerebral blood flow to the brain. Vinpocetine has been reported to improve concentration abilities and enhance auditory and visual perception. Huperzine-A: Huperzine-A is an intellectual enhancer that inhibits the acetylcholinesterase enzyme from breaking down acetylcholine (a learning neurotransmitter), thus increasing both its level and duration of action. Huperzine-A belongs to the Cholinergic class of molecules, and may be useful in fighting cognitive decline in the elderly. Alpha-GPC: Alpha GPC has significant nootropic properties, including memory enhancement, protection against brain aging and for the treatment of anxiety. Extensive research has shown Alpha-GPC to be an effective treatment for a variety of disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, and stroke. Phosphatidylserine: Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid compound that is able to cross the blood-brain barrier and enter into the central nervous system. It is vital to the health and efficient functioning of your brain cells and has numerous benefits related to memory, learning, attention and mood. Most importantly, Phosphatidylserine helps the brain metabolize glucose and release and bind with a number of neurotransmitters. Neuroplasticity (your ability to reshape your nervous system and brain) is proven to exist and we even know how to increase it! Whether you’re looking to boost your brain power, or simply maintain it, supplying it with the proper nutrients is crucial. (Bethesda, MD) Paul Thomas, Ed.D., R.D.N., scientific consultant in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS), illustrates the state of the science on the value or lack of value of selected dietary supplement ingredients (including multivitamins, antioxidants, biotin, and sodium bicarbonate) to promote health and manage problems. He provides examples from the published literature of good versus poor research on supplement ingredients. Using evidence-based approaches, Dr. Thomas offers advice on selecting, recommending, and using dietary supplements. Using new technology, researchers were able to determine that the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for vitamin D intake is estimated to be 400 International Units (IU) per day rather than 800 IU. The findings of this study were presented at ENDO 2017 in Orlando, FL. "In estimating the RDA for vitamin D intake, the laboratory method used for measuring 25-hydroxyvitmain D (25[OH]D) can affect the results," said principal investigator J. Christopher Gallagher, M.D., professor and director of the Bone Metabolism Unit in the Division of Endocrinology of Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Neb. "The estimated RDA based on the older immunoassay (DiaSorin S.p.A., Salugia, Italy) system was 800 IU daily, whereas the newer liquid chromatography tandem-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) technique estimated that 400 IU daily would meet the RDA." To investigate this difference, the researchers looked at an earlier, double-blind, dose-response trial (n=163) in healthy postmenopausal Caucasian women aged 57–90 years with vitamin D insufficiency (serum 25[OH]D ≤20ng/mL) in the winter and spring of 2007–2008. The women were randomized to one of seven vitamin D3 doses: 400, 800, 1600, 2400, 3200, 4000, 4800 IU/day or placebo for one year and were also given calcium supplements. Analysis of the samples using the older immunoassay method found that 800 IU daily would meet the vitamin D requirement in 97.5% of the population. However, when the samples were re-analyzed with the newer LC-MS/MS method, the researchers established a more precise RDA for vitamin D to be 400 IU daily. Dr. Gallagher concluded, "This has important ramifications for public health recommendations. The amount of vitamin D needed, 400 IU daily, is less than the figure recommended by Institute of Medicine." The authors cautioned this RDA value was for bone health only and requirements may differ for other conditions. There is no conclusive data on this as trials evaluating cancer, diabetes, and other conditions are ongoing. http://www.empr.com/news/vitamin-d3-recommended-dietary-allowance-rda-intake/article/648138/
