We recently made a drafting table at the Columbus Idea Foundry, using the ShopBot CNC machine. Our in house drafter designed and created the files for the CNC to cut out the pieces. Everything was designed to fit together without fasteners, and easily assemble and disassemble for storage and transportation. The PVC pipes offer the ability to roll up and store plans when not in use to keep them protected from the construction dust, and allow for an organized work space. Jacob is an NSERC PGS-D scholar and engineering PhD candidate at Western University in London, Ontario. His work is focused on using engineering tools, including the finite element method, to better understand how changing the geometry of stemless shoulder implants can impact bone response. These models can assist with the design of implants for shoulder reconstruction surgeries. By reducing how much the implant changes bone stress, resorption and implant loosening can be avoided. Jacob has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering, and is looking forward to completing his doctoral work in 2018.

System stability is often quoted as being raised as an issue for the power system now that renewable energy is increasing. Is this the case or is there a fundamental loss of power system control? --------------------------- Kate Summers is Manager, Electrical Engineering at Pacific Hydro Australia. Kate holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (Hons) major in Power and Control Engineering from Swinburne University (Melbourne) and a Graduate Diploma Management. After ten years working in transmission planning (dynamic modeling, power system control) and system operations with the SECV, then Victorian Power Exchange and later the National Electricity Market Management Company (NEMMCO), she commenced work with the renewable energy company, Pacific Hydro in 2004. In conjunction she has served four years as the technical director for the Australian Wind Energy Association and a further five years as the the Chair of the Grid Directorate for the Clean Energy Council. Her work at Pacific Hydro covers a broad range from connection works for new projects, performance and compliance of operating assets including control and protection upgrades for the East Kimberley Power System which Pacific Hydro own and operate. Throughout the last thirteen years she has contributed significantly to the national debate on the technical standards and integration of renewable energy both into the market and physically into the NEM grid. Recently she led the development of detailed technical submissions to government inquiries, preparing Pacific Hydro’s submission to the Finkel Review about frequency control issues in the NEM. She combines this with a broad practical knowledge of the power system, with both synchronous and asynchronous generation, wind and solar power plants.

For the average non-engineering professional, Henry Petroskis April 12 lecture in Benton Chapel may have seemed like an in-depth history of bridges. However, a closer listen to his talk provided insightful advice relevant to any vocation or daily life experience. Petroski, the Aleksandar S. Vesic Professor of Civil Engineering and a professor of history at Duke University, spoke on The Paradox of Design: Success Through Failure at the final Chancellors Lecture of the academic year.

Get Flats Boat Plans & Duck Boat Blind Plans here http://tinyurl.com/GetBoatPlans The Internet is full of boat plans. Many companies sell boat plans for a small price. However, they aren't all worth the price. A lot of plans found online are quite old, so the finished boat could be an older design which might have several technical faults in the hull construction. The simplicity and convenience of using the Internet to find a boat plan won't matter if you end up with a plan that will not work for you. Aluminum, fiberglass, steel, and stitch and glue are the popular choices when it comes to boat building construction methods. The stitch and glue method is suitable for just about anyone, with plywood often seen as a nicer and easier material to work with. For those with carpentry skills, plywood is likely to be the material of choice. And with aluminum or Steel it helps to have knowledge in welding skills. Building a custom-built craft requires a good set of boat plans. So, take the time to seek out plans that are user-friendly and meet your specific needs. Are you looking for boat plans? CLICK SUBTITLE TAB (SETTING, CORNER)TO SEE IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGES EK IDEA JAROOR MIL SAKTA HAI- WATCH THESE VIDEOS ALSO Building Foundation Types in House Construction I am telling you here about the foundation, how to start foundation work? here at this place cement with medium size stone.. a mixture spread uniformly then after you see the base has started with 27 inches two steps of 27 inches (total width by putting the bricks, see bricks layout) then after 22, 18 , 13 and then they come on 9 inches by this way we keep foundation of the house.. in this video you are watching the wall which will stand on this foundation ...will be at the centre of foundation.... you can see here the foundation is on triangle shape.... right.....this is one of the types of foundation... it is decreasing.... from this side too...it is going to decreases... and now the wall of 9 inch will start from this place.... now you can see the steps of 27, 22, 18 13 and then after of 9 inches... ok...this was one of the types.....on the other hand.... rest of the part is left for pillar .....where one have to put mixture of cement and medium size stones....right and now it is complete..... that mixture generally one keeps 4 inches or 5 inches in height.... the gap in between the foundation you are looking..... the gap between foundation...... is for the pillars......... one pillar here....the gap you are looking is just for pillars attached with bricks wall......first foundation of bricks...... then after the pillars..... the dimension of pillars already mentioned...... you can see the foundation.... as i told earlier...... Now see this foundation....... same height of foundation...place for pillars ...gatka (a mixture of cement and medium size stone) spreaded over to it...... this foundation starts with 27 inches...two vertical step of bricks ...... 22 inches then 18.... then 13 and later 9 inches..... I am telling you here the main difference ......and you have also noticed it from earlier one... here in this foundation one side is straight.... and the other have same slope .....as you have seen in earlier one.....the decreasing width...i.e. 9 inches at last..... why one side is flat and the other one have slope....what is the reason of it?.... the answer of it....the neighbor will not share this wall.....it is independent..... this is first point.....and the second point is...... when the neighbor will construct the house.... his foundation for this wall will start in this manner only... now the strength of this foundation jointly will be many times more..... compared to the first one foundation.....which you have seen earlier...this is now 54 inches from bottom side.....then 44, 36, 26 and 18 inches.... लुक double plaster में काटना चाहिए या single प्लास्तर में ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl4S_8FrbAM Home Construction:Duplex House Design and Vastu Features (Hindi) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-A7PufvoDKQ Building Foundation Types in House Construction (HINDI) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl32IEZ1iDg Roofing and Front Elevation ka Planning कब aur kese करे ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6GkfWxDZHE First Floor Plan of 100 Gaj plot down ceiling and house design idea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-fLUJPJ1JA House Construction: दीवारे सीधी है या नहीं कैसे check करे https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPbJUk3vOwo Home Construction: Front Elevation और प्रभावी मुख्य द्धार (Main Gate) कैसे बनाये https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCvNLbE9yRo Brick Arch Building बनाते समय क्या ध्यान रखें ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08q8-3Jzd1M types of foundation in building construction

No personal income, wages, etc. was used to produce this video. All expenses were paid by personal credit cards and/or loans, which are paid by other personal credit cards and/or loans. This one-hour, half-land, half-water adventure takes you through the most scenic parts of the Wisconsin Dells region. You travel down the cliff-lined Wisconsin River, across a huge sand bar, up Dell Creek, into beautiful Lake Delton and through our spectacular wilderness trails. Only Original Wisconsin Ducks® travel these exclusive "duck trails," traversing narrow canyons, winding passages and roller coaster hills on a journey through scenery, history, legend and thrills. This map will provide a preview of sights, thrills and adventures to come. Just roll over a red number for more information on selected tour highlights. By any measure, the duck is a truly amazing example of American ingenuity and engineering. Originally developed to ferry troops and supplies from ship to shore during World War II, this amphibious truck has proven equally capable of giving visitors the ideal way to experience the scenic beauty of Wisconsin Dells. The ducks maneuver with ease through steep trails, deep ravines and rugged rock formations — and with the same ease, provide a smooth ride on the water. There's no better way to experience the Dells — and no better vehicle to explore every inch! In the midst of World War II, allied commanders preparing to invade occupied Europe faced a great challenge. With most of the continent's harbor facilities in ruins, there was no way to deliver vital troops and supplies from ship to shore. A smaller craft was needed — one that could transport payload quickly and efficiently while navigating ocean waves and maneuvering around obstacles on the beach. The answer came in the form of the DUKW, an amphibious truck that leapt off the drawing board in 1942. The new craft was equipped with six wheels for maximum traction on land and a propeller for water operation. Soldiers nicknamed the new amphibian "the duck" — and it quickly proved its worth in wartime. The duck made its debut during the invasion of Sicily. Despite rough surf, the ducks surpassed expectations. As a result, some 2,000 ducks were used in the D-Day landings on the Normandy coast, and thousands more were employed in the island-hopping campaigns of the Pacific. Over 21,000 ducks were built during World War II, and were so successful that some still saw active military duty till the end of the Korean War. DID YOU KNOW? The military did not name their amphibious truck "DUKW" because it resembled the word "duck." Here's what the code letters actually stood for: D = 1942, the year the first DUKW was built U = Utility vehicle K = Front wheel drive W = Rear wheel drive Fully 70 years after the first duck rolled off the wartime assembly line, this unique vehicle remains a marvel of American ingenuity and engineering. Designed for war, the amphibious duck's versatility and capabilities make it the ideal way to explore the rushing waterways, narrow canyons and hidden wilderness of Wisconsin Dells. Roll over the image for some fast facts about this awesome machine. Keeping our fleet of seven-ton amphibious vehicles running in tip-top shape is a year-round responsibility. At Original Wisconsin Ducks®, that important job falls to our mechanics, support staff and drivers. During the operating season, attention to detail on maintenance is a daily task. Every active Duck's hull is checked daily during the season. All moving parts, drive and rudder shaft are greased daily. Anytime a repair is made on the water-related mechanics of an Original Wisconsin Duck, the vehicle is tested in the water before being sent out on a tour. In the off-season, maintenance continues at a steady pace. The entire fleet is cleaned, inspected (and where necessary) upgraded with the latest innovations to improve safety and performance. This year-round commitment to highest quality mechanical craftsmanship ensures that on opening day and every day thereafter, Original Wisconsin Ducks are ready to hit the trail! How to convert a World War II-era duck into a peacetime tour vehicle ready for duty in the rivers, lakes and rugged wilderness of Wisconsin Dells? It's a multi-step process that takes careful planning, expert engineering and attention to detail. Ducks are rarely found in operational condition. Although most of our Ducks have not been in battle (many of our vehicles were stationed stateside for training during the war), it usually takes maintenance staff two months to prepare a vehicle to go out on tours. Ducks often require corresponding parts, which were predominantly packaged from1950 to 1952 and stored in Europe. Today several parts are custom-made because they are no longer available. In addition, the vehicles are outfitted with a variety of modern mechanical and safety upgrades to ensure the performance and viability of the fleet.

Part 1 includes the Introduction, Welcome, and Opening Remarks by Smithsonian luminaries, Jose Barreiro, Kevin Gover, and Wayne Clough. Symposium Moderator, José Barreiro (Taíno), Assistant Director for Research and Director, Office for Latin America, at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, introduces the symposium. Dr. Barreiro, one of the leading scholars of American Indian policy and the contemporary Native experience, is a pioneering figure in Native American journalism and publishing. He helped establish the American Indian Program at Cornell University, serving as associate director and editor-in-chief of Akwe:kon Press and the journal Native Americas throughout the 1980s and '90s. At Akwe:kon, he worked to develop communications networks among the indigenous peoples of North, Central, and South America, and the Caribbean. In 2002, he left Cornell to join the staff of Indian Country Today as Senior Editor. He continues to serve as a member of the editorial boards of Kacike: The Journal of Caribbean Amerindian History and Anthropology and of Indian Country Today Media Network. Kevin Gover (Pawnee), director of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, welcomes the symposium attendees. A former professor of law at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in Tempe, affiliate professor in the university's American Indian Studies Program, and co-executive director of its American Indian Policy Institute, Gover received his bachelor's degree in public and international affairs from Princeton University and his law degree from the University of New Mexico. Before joining the university faculty, Gover served as assistant secretary for Indian Affairs in the U.S. Department of the Interior from 1997 to 2000. A presidential appointee, he was responsible for policy and operational oversight of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, where he oversaw programs in Indian education, law enforcement, social services, treaty rights, and trust asset management. Gover also practiced law for more than 15 years in Albuquerque and Washington. He was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree from Princeton in 2001. Giving the symposium opening remarks is Dr. Wayne Clough, the 12th Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest museum and research complex. Since becoming Secretary in July 2008, Clough has taken the Smithsonian in new directions. A comprehensive strategic plan—the first of its kind for the Smithsonian—creates a new framework for goals, enterprises and operations. The Smithsonian now focuses on four grand challenges—Unlocking the Mysteries of the Universe, Understanding and Sustaining a Biodiverse Planet, Valuing World Cultures, and Understanding the American Experience. Since Clough became Secretary, more than 300 exhibitions have opened across the Smithsonian. He has overseen the opening of major permanent exhibitions, including the Star-Spangled Banner at the National Museum of American History; the Hall of Human Origins at the National Museum of Natural History; and the new wing at the National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center. Previously, Clough was president of the Georgia Institute of Technology for 14 years. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Georgia Tech and a doctorate in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Clough was a member of the faculty at Duke University, Stanford University and Virginia Tech. This symposium was webcast on November 14, 2013 from the Rasmuson Theater at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

We’re about to show some of the most majestic and unique roads in all the world. So sit back and enjoy the drive. Subscribe for weekly wacky videos and learn interesting facts about the world with awesome top 10 lists and other amazing videos. 8. The Seven Mile Bridge Along the water of the Florida Keys, you’ll found The Seven Mile Bridge. The bridge connects Knight’s Keys to Little Duck Keys, constructed back in 1909 and completed by 1912. It measures 6.8 miles or 10,887.5 meters long-- so just nearly seven miles. The bridges cross the Moser Channel in the Keys. There’s actually two bridges, one exclusively for pedestrians or those on bikes, and the other expressly for vehicles. 7. Khardung La Pass (car dong la or cardzong la) This mountain pass can be found through the Ladakh region of India. The elevation of the mountain pass stands at 17,582 feet or 5,359 meters high. It is not the highest motorable pass in the world, despite what all the tourist souvenirs say that you can buy here. Khardung La is located along the caravan route that leads into Central Asia, a historically significant path where 10,000 camels and horses used to travel through every year centuries ago. 6. Capulin Volcano Road This road winds around the Capulin Volcano part of the National Monument of the same name, located in northeastern New Mexico in the United States. The paved road is open to visitors who want to drive all the way to the parking lot at the rim of the volcano. It has an area of 993 acres and an elevation of 8.182 feet or 2,494 meters high. The last time the volcano erupted was said to be between 58,000 to 62,000 years ago. 5. The July 9 Avenue Known in Spanish as Avenida 9 de Julio, this beautiful road can be found in the capital city of Buenos Aires, Argentina and is the widest avenue in the entire world. The name comes from the date of Argentina’s independence day. The road consists of seven lanes not just in total but seven lanes that go in each direction. It runs about 0.62 miles or 1 kilometer west of the Rio de la Plata. Plans went as far back as 1888 though construction didn’t start until decades later in 1935. 4. The China-Pakistan Friendship Highway Also known more commonly as the Karakoram Highway or the National Highway 35, this highway runs through China and Pakistan, starting in the Punjab province of Pakistan, turning into the China National Highway when it crosses past. It has a length of 800 miles or 1,300 kilometers. It has been around since 1966 though it wasn’t not completed until 1979 and only opened to be public in 1986. It ranks as one of the highest paved roads in the world and proves as a popular tourist attraction. 3. Route 1 This road connects all the inhabited parts of iceland to each other, with a length of 828 miles or 1,332 kilometers. Most of the highway only has two lanes and has a speed limit of of 55 miles per hour or 90 kilometers per hour. It takes a week to drive through the entire route during the summer. But being in Iceland, it would take two weeks to drive through during the wintertime. 2. Le Passage du Gois This road in France periodically become flooded, often being called the disappearing road. Le Passage du Gois leads to the island of Noirmoutier in France between that is;and the Beauvoir sur Mer. Twice a day the passage gets flooded with the water. During the Tour de France in 1999, the passage was used as part of the route, proving to be a treacherous obstacle for the race. It spans a length of 4.125 kilometers long. In case anyone gets stuck in the water, rescue towers line the route. 1. The North Yungas Road Eerily called the Road of Fate, this road located in the Yungas region of Bolivia and spans 35 miles or 56 kilometers from La Paz to Coroico. It’s mostly a single lane road that has very little guard rails, which just doesn’t seem safe being up 2,000 feet or 600 meters. And while it proves extremely dangerous, that aspect of the Yungas Road was also what made it so popular, most especially drawing in tourists during the 90s.

And I have not worked on any huge projects because I have to save any money I get for college. I have my history which describes the ingenuity which is my gift, but it is not included in the video, because of time issues. In his interview, Steve Huston talks about how to grow as an artist, how to develop a unique style, how to find what calls to you, and much more. Steve Huston is one of the best artists and teachers of our time. His advice has been helping me figure out how I should approach making art and why I create art in the first place. It’s a mighty 106 minute conversation filled with golden nuggets. Don’t miss this one. Steve recently published an instructional book on figure drawing. I think it’s a must have for every artist learning how to draw: Steve's Book: http://amzn.to/2nD2AA4 Topics: 00:00:33 - Steve's new book 00:00:45 - Going to Art Center* 00:01:21 - Drawing Comics as a Kid 00:02:15 - Illustrating after art school 00:03:36 - Teaching at Art Center* 00:04:21 - Taking over the classes of famous teachers 00:06:28 - Learning paint and color 00:09:00 - How did you learn color? 00:13:28 - Finding your style 00:14:34 - Working after Art Center 00:15:44 - Becoming a better artist 00:19:49 - Growing as an artist through teaching 00:21:20 - Making a finished art piece 00:26:25 - Thinking critically about the art you're making 00:27:58 - Good copying vs bad copying 00:28:59 - Art as philosophy 00:30:26 - Developing an art style 00:33:34 - Creating a truly unique style* 00:46:36 - Drawing and painting better by asking question* 00:53:27 - Steve Huston's inspirations 00:58:39 - What does an artist do if they don't have any good ideas? 01:01:23 - How do artists balance idea and craft? 01:02:55 - Being afraid of drawing something "wrong"* 01:09:58 - The tools for creativity 01:11:40 - What is the purpose of creating art? 01:16:28 - How do you find what calls to you?* 01:27:00 - What was your creative learning schedule like? 01:33:52 - What would you have done differently in your art education? 01:36:16 - Did you study more from life or more from masters? 01:37:48 - Consistency in your artwork 01:39:13 - What do you enjoy more: quick-sketch or longer drawings? 01:41:09 - What medium do you want to learn? 01:42:02 - Any new books coming up? 01:43:18 - Where do you see your art going in the next 10 years? 01:44:44 - Where can we get your book? They investigate one the main features of the den, a working drawbridge. To open and close the drawbridge they use a chain and barrel mechanism and demonstrate how the barrel winds the chain up and down to move the drawbridge. This clip is from The Dengineers, a children's DIY television series on CBBC hosted by Lauren Layfield and Joe Tracini. With the help of expert designers and builders they create extraordinary children's dens, encountering design challenges along the way. I 3D print a full AR-15 lower receiver from Defense Distributed on an Ultimaker 3D Printer using PLA material. I demonstrate it's not as simple as just clicking a button and making a gun however the principal is sound. I also give comparisons to a real S&W AR-15 that I own. ** NOTICE ** The original video was removed by YouTube due to a technicality that I fixed so I had to re-upload it. The video was originally recorded on 4-28-2014 so that is why the logo's and branding are old. This however was a 'VERY' popular video so I wanted to make sure it was re-uploaded for people that enjoyed watching it. ♠ Use links below for discounts and to help the channel ♠ Buy Barnacules Nerdgasm Merch @ http://shop.barnnerd.com Discount on GT Omega Chairs @ http://bit.ly/1lA4h4K -or- Use code 'NERDGASM' at checkout! Biomimicry design, explained with 99% Invisible. Check them out here: https://99percentinvisible.org/ Subscribe to our channel here: http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Japan’s Shinkansen doesn’t look like your typical train. With its long and pointed nose, it can reach top speeds up to 150–200 miles per hour. It didn’t always look like this. Earlier models were rounder and louder, often suffering from the phenomenon of "tunnel boom," where deafening compressed air would rush out of a tunnel after a train rushed in. But a moment of inspiration from engineer and birdwatcher Eiji Nakatsu led the system to be redesigned based on the aerodynamics of three species of birds. Nakatsu’s case is a fascinating example of biomimicry, the design movement pioneered by biologist and writer Janine Benyus. She's a co-founder of the Biomimicry Institute, a non-profit encouraging creators to discover how big challenges in design, engineering, and sustainability have often already been solved through 3.8 billion years of evolution on earth. We just have to go out and find them. This is one of a series of videos we're launching in partnership with 99% Invisible, an awesome podcast about design. 99% Invisible is a member of http://Radiotopia.fm Additional imagery from the Biodiversity Heritage Library: https://www.flickr.com/photos/biodivlibrary/ Vox.com is a news website that helps you cut through the noise and understand what's really driving the events in the headlines.
