What to Do If You Get the Flu

04:59
The flu is running rampant this year in the US, especially in big cities like NYC. Do you know what you should do if you end up getting the flu? Dr. Dean Mitchell, clinical Immunologist and holistic practitioner in NYC, discusses the typical flu symptoms, how to get diagnosed with the flu, and the different treatment options for the flu. How do you know if you have the flu? Typical flu symptoms are sometimes similar to a regular virus and can include: sore throat, cough, high fever and muscle aches. If you have a high fever over 101 degrees for more than 2 days it is very likely that you have the flu. How to get diagnosed with the flu? If you think you have the flu see your doctor to get assessed. You can also get a rapid nasal flu test to see if you have the flu. This year is especially difficult when it comes to the flu because of the H3N2 virus which is very similar to the old Hong Kong flu that was around 20 years ago. What to do if you have the flu? Once diagnosed with the flu use Tamiflu, an anti-viral medication which if started within 72 hours of contracting the flu can help ameliorate and decrease flu symptoms. Tamiflu is a great option for both children and adults. Holistic treatment for the flu includes: rest, avoiding contact with other people, hydrating (especially with teas and soups with salt), eating lighter meals so your body can focusing on healing and taking vitamins. Taking medicine like Advil and Tylenol is ok if you have a high fever but is not recommended with a low-grade fever. Should I take antibiotics if I have the flu? Most people think they need antibiotics when they have the flu but it's actually bad to take them because they don't actually fight the flu. Antibiotics are good if you get complications from the flu such as pneumonia. Make sure to keep an eye for Dr. Dean Mitchell's new book coming out this year on immunology entitled ImmunoLife. Expert: Dr. Dean Mitchell, M.D. Contact: http://www.mitchellmedicalgroup.com Location: NYC & Long Island Bio: For over 25 years, Dr. Mitchell has specialized in leaky gut, candida and immunology in NYC. How to Tell When You Are Contagious |Contagious Why Things Catch On| How Long Cold or Flu Contagious

10:24
====================================================== SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL PLEASE.... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWDyU5Z3SKdlZ0tL8WLsvRw?sub_confirmation=1 ===================================================== How to Tell when You Are Contagious Being contagious means that you are capable of transmitting an illness to another person. Once you feel sick, knowing if you are contagious may prevent you from contaminating other people. Upper respiratory illnesses, like a cold and the flu, are caused by viruses and are easily transmitted to other people. Many infections caused by bacteria can also be highly contagious. If you discover that you are contagious, precautionary measures can help to prevent the spread of the illness. Part 1 : Identifying the Symptoms of a Contagious Illnesses 1.Take your temperature. A normal temperature range is 97.7 to 99.5°F (36.5 to 37.5°C). Anything above that is considered a fever and indicates that you are probably contagious. 2.Examine your mucus and nasal secretions. Thick or discolored yellow/green mucus is a strong indication that you have an upper respiratory infection accompanied by inflammation in the respiratory tract. 3.Look for a skin rash. Certain skin rashes are often a sign of being contagious. Rashes that affect large portions of the body may be either allergic or viral. 4.Watch for diarrhea, accompanied by a slight fever. Diarrhea can be a sign of having a contagious illness, especially when accompanied by vomiting and a low-grade fever. 5.Look for pain behind the forehead, cheeks and across the nose. Regular headaches are not usually an indication of a contagious disease. 6.Notice if your sore throat is accompanied by a runny nose. When you have a contagious illness, like the flu or a cold, the sore throat is often accompanied by a runny nose. 7.Pay attention to feelings of sleepiness and a loss of appetite. Contagious illnesses can cause you to feel very tired or sleepy, and to lose your appetite. Sleeping a lot and eating less are two ways in which your body conserves energy to fight infection. Part 2 : Putting the Symptoms Together 1.Recognize the symptoms of influenza, or the flu. Flu symptoms include fever, headache, general aches and body pain, extreme feelings of fatigue, and sometimes stuffy, runny nose, sneezing, cough, and chest discomfort. 2.Identify the symptoms of a cold. Typical symptoms that occur with a cold include a sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, cough, congestion, sneezing, mild chest discomfort, fatigue, and some general body aches and pain. 3.Pay attention to combined symptoms. Symptom groups such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting accompanied by muscle aches and headaches can mean that you have gastroenteritis, sometimes called the stomach flu, or even food poisoning. Gastroenteritis and food poisoning have similar symptoms. 4.Consider the people you have been around that are sick. Most contagious illnesses can be caught for one or two days before symptoms develop. 5.Rule out seasonal allergies. Some people have strong upper respiratory symptoms that are caused by seasonal airborne allergens. This type of illness is not contagious. Allergy symptoms overlap with those of a cold and the flu. Part 3 : Preventing the Spread of Contagious Illnesses 1.Get the flu vaccine yearly. Scientists research and develop flu vaccines that are designed to prevent infection from the most likely strains of flu viruses. 2.Wash your hands. Upper respiratory illnesses, like a cold or the flu, are spread from person to person. A common way these illnesses are spread is by touching someone or something that has been contaminated with the virus. 3.Use soap and water. Wash with warm water and soap placed in the palm of your hand. Lather your hands by rubbing them together for at least 20 seconds. Be sure to cover all surfaces of your hand, including between your fingers, under your nails, and your wrists. 4.Clean your hands with alcohol gel. Squirt gel into the palm of your dry hand. Rub your hands together covering all surfaces until the gel dries. This takes about 15 to 20 seconds. 5.Avoid contact with people that are sick. The flu virus can be spread by someone sick as far as six feet away. 6.Be aware of surfaces you touch. Door knobs, desks, pencils, and other objects can carry the virus germs from one person to another. #how long am i contagious with a cold #how long are you contagious with the flu #how long are you contagious with a virus #how long is a cough contagious #how long is a cold contagious mayo clinic #how long is a cold contagious kissing #how long are you contagious with the stomach flu #how long is the flu contagious after taking tamiflu ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THANKS FOR WATCHING OUR CHANNEL --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The most common symptoms of the disease are chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness/fatigue and general discomfort.[1] Although it is often confused with other influenza-like illnesses, especially the common cold, influenza is a more severe disease caused by a different type of virus.[2] Influenza may produce nausea and vomiting, particularly in children,[1] but these symptoms are more common in the unrelated gastroenteritis, which is sometimes, inaccurately, referred to as "stomach flu."[3] Approximately 33% of persons with influenza are asymptomatic." -- Wikipedia IMMUNICS § The CureDrive -- http://www.CureDrive.org/index.html -- is a NONPROFIT where we DEMONSTRATE and teach IMMUNICS -- CURE of medically incurable diseases on camera. § Speak to a volunteer? -- 813 672-3419 -- Bayard Henry Barnes on Facebook § Cure is FREE -- Because YOU cure it -- It's a SKILL, not a PILL. § IMMUNICS is the yoga of self-immunity -- it utilizes your everyday intuitive powers and natural knowing combined with a practical scientific approach. § We make these movies with the intention to inspire you to GO BEYOND symptomatic cure, and take out -- remove -- the disease, plus its cofactors, ancillary causes, contributing factors, predisposing factors and the like, for diseases such as -- breast cancer, herpes simplex, rosacea, HSV-1 (oral herpes) and HSV-2 (genital herpes), acid reflux, acne, allergies, amenorrhea, anxiety, arthritis, asthma, autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), Epstein-Barr, cold sores, oral herpes, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), eczema, hives, cytomegalovirus (CMV), fibromyalgia and associated arthritis, flu - there are more than 20 Cure Shows where people cured flu in just a few minutes - Graves' disease, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, high blood pressure, HIV, leukemia, lupus, Lyme disease, melanoma, migraine, multiple sclerosis (MS), obesity, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), osteoarthritis, pain, past-life trauma, periodontal disease, osteoporosis, pet healing, phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, shingles, depression, and sciatica. § And ADDICTIONS such as -- SMOKING, crack cocaine and crystal meth addictions, alcoholism and associated violence and abusiveness.
