Watch more Cough, Flu & Cold Remedies videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/180564-How-to-Prevent-and-Recognize-Symptoms-of-Swine-Flu Step 1: Understand the infection Understand what it is. Swine flu is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by the influenza virus. Usually the virus does not infect humans, but transmission can sometimes occur in persons with direct exposure to pigs. The current outbreak has been caused by human-to-human transmission. Step 2: Understand how it spreads Swine flu is spread between humans like a cold: A person can catch it by being sneezed, coughed, or breathed on by a carrier, or by touching a surface that has the virus on it and then touching their own nose, eyes, or mouth. Direct contact with infected pigs can also transmit the virus to people, and vice versa. So far, no other animals can transmit the virus to humans. Tip You cannot get swine flu from eating cooked pork or pork products. Step 3: Wash your hands Wash your hands with warm water and soap often, lathering up for as long as it takes you to sing "Happy Birthday" twice, or about 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer in between, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Don't shake hands with anyone. Step 4: Avoid sick people If someone is showing signs of a cold or flu, keep your distance. Step 5: Don't assume immunity Don't assume you're immune to the swine flu because you got a flu shot last year. It may not prevent you from being made sick by this particular strain, though it could prevent you from catching other strains. Tip Unlike other flu viruses, which tend to attack weakened immune systems, swine flu flourishes in young, strong, healthy bodies. Step 6: Know the symptoms Know the symptoms, which include a fever higher than 100 degrees, body aches, coughing, a sore throat, and respiratory congestion. Some people have diarrhea and vomiting, too. Step 7: Don't delay medical attention Don't delay in getting medical attention if you show symptoms. Swine flu can be successfully treated with the antiviral drugs Tamiflu and Relenza, which are most effective when taken within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms. Step 8: Protect others If you are diagnosed with any kind of flu, stay indoors and limit your interaction with loved ones for seven days after the onset of symptoms to avoid passing it to others. Step 9: Wear a face mask If you are in an area where there's been a swine flu outbreak, wear a face mask. Swine flu is spread through respiratory droplets, which are transferred by a cough, sneeze, or even an exhale. Tip A simple face mask filters about 62 percent of small particles; a professional-grade one keeps 98 percent out. Step 10: Don't panic Don't panic if you recently visited an area with an outbreak. The incubation period is three to five days, so if you're flu-free a week after your trip, you're probably not infected. Did You Know? The World Bank has estimated that in a worst-case scenario, a flu pandemic could cost the world economy $3 trillion.

Swine Flu (H1N1): Swine flu is a highly contagious respiratory infection caused by one of the several swine influenza A viruses. How it is transmitted: • Inhalation or ingestion of droplets containing virus from people sneezing or coughing • Coming in contact with an object or surface that is contaminated with the virus and then touching your mouth, eyes or nose How it is not transmitted: • Swine flu is not transmitted by consuming pork if it has been cooked properly Common Symptoms of H1N1: • High Fever usually 101 degree Fahrenheit or more • Dry cough • Vomit & Diarrhoea • Tiredness and loss of apetite • Severe headache • Severe discomfort in the chest • Severe aches • Chills (in most cases) Diagnosis: By analysing in lab - nose or throat swab from the infected person. Treatment: The treatment for swine flu is largely supportive. Antiviral medications such as oseltamivir (Tamiflu) may be prescribed to help reduce some of the symptoms. Supportive care includes: • Getting lots of bed rest • Increasing fluid consumption Prevention: • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and warm water • Cover your nose and mouth with tissue while sneezing since the virus can spread when particles are dispersed into the air through cough or sneeze • Avoid touching your nose, eyes and mouth • Keep yourself hydrated • Stay at home if you fall sick and avoid physical contact with anyone around you who is unwell • Get adequate rest to boost your immune system Difference between common cold, seasonal flu and swine flu: ___Onset of Symptoms___ Common cold: A few days Seasonal flu: Symptoms develop over a few days Swine flu: Rapid onset of symptoms (high fever, aches etc) usually within 3 to 5 hours. ___Diarrhoea___ Common cold: Not present Seasonal flu: Usually, present Swine flu: Severe diarrhoea and vomit is common ___Chills___ Common cold: Not common Seasonal flu: Mild to moderate Swine flu: Majority (about 60%) experience chills ___Cough___ Common cold: Mucus-producing cough Seasonal flu: Dry cough Swine flu: Dry cough ___Sneezing___ Common cold: Commonly present Seasonal flu: Commonly present Swine flu: Sneezing is not common ___Aches___ Common cold: Slight body ache Seasonal flu: Moderate body ache Swine flu: Severe body ache and pain are common ___Tiredness___ Common cold: Usually, mild tiredness Seasonal flu: Moderate Swine flu: Moderate to severe tiredness ___Sore Throat___ Common cold: Commonly present Seasonal flu: Commonly present Swine flu: Not commonly present Team Ovum Hospitals

__Swine flu and pregnancy__ Swine flu is a highly contagious respiratory disease. Pregnant women are at a higher risk of complications from swine flu, especially during the first and second trimesters because of: • A weakened immune system during pregnancy • Increased pressure on the breathing and lung function on account of the growing fetus thereby, making them more susceptible to secondary infections such as pneumonia Symptoms • Fever (in most cases) • Dry cough • Sore throat • Runny or stuffy nose • Body aches • Headaches • Chills Risk during Pregnancy • Pregnant women with flu have a higher risk of premature delivery or spontaneous abortion • In case of severe infections, the virus could infect the placenta which carries blood to the fetus • If left untreated, swine flu can have severe adverse outcomes including threat to the lives of both mother and the fetus Treatment • Swine flu during pregnancy is treated administering antiviral drugs such as Tamiflu (oseltamivir) or Relenza (zanamivir). The antiviral treatment can be done at any state of pregnancy • Apart from the medicine, supportive care includes: - Getting lots of rest - Drinking plenty of fluids - Isolating the patient to reduce further exposure to the virus/ infection Important Information If the mother is infected with swine flu right before delivery or when the baby is a newborn, a surgical mask should be placed on her (a) during labor and delivery; and (b) during breastfeeding so as not to infect the newborn. When the mother is on antiviral medication, it is considered safe to breastfeed provided she has been on the medication for at least 48 hours beforehand. Prevention • Getting a flu shot is the best method of prevention against swine flu. Note that in case of pregnant women, inactivated vaccine should be administered. Live vaccine is not recommended as the immune system is already suppressed during pregnancy • Avoid contact with infected people. Do not go to crowded places and avoid visiting public places • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth so that infection is not contracted by touching an infected surface • Wash your hands frequently through the day with warm water and soap; or with an alcohol based hand sanitiser • To ensure that you are not spreading the virus, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and dispose it after use Call your doctor 1. As soon as you notice flu-like symptoms. The treatment is more effective if started early 2. If you have come in close contact with someone who has flu or flu-like symptoms Team Ovum Hospitals

Swine influenza, also called pig influenza, swine flu, hog flu and pig flu, is an infection caused by any one of several types of swine influenza viruses. Swine influenza virus (SIV) or swine-origin influenza virus (S-OIV) is any strain of the influenza family of viruses that is endemic in pigs. As of 2009, the known SIV strains include influenza C and the subtypes of influenza A known as H1N1, H1N2, H2N1, H3N1, H3N2, and H2N3. Swine influenza virus is common throughout pig populations worldwide. Transmission of the virus from pigs to humans is not common and does not always lead to human flu, often resulting only in the production of antibodies in the blood. If transmission does cause human flu, it is called zoonotic swine flu. People with regular exposure to pigs are at increased risk of swine flu infection. This video is targeted to blind users. "Like" me on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tigger-... Follow me on INSTAGRAM: http://statigr.am/tiggerthenobathcat Tweet me: https://twitter.com/TiggerHatesBath My cat Tigger's first bath. He didn't like it much, he's screaming "nooooo!" the whole time. FOR THE RECORD: This bath was absolutely necessary. At the time of the bath, Tigger was really dirty to the point that he was leaving traces of dirt and stains all over my bed, his bed, and the dog's bed (he loves to roll in the dirt with my dog and lay under cars with the neighbor's cat!). You may think cats are clean animals, and don't need baths, but Tigger really doesn't spend much time grooming himself for some reason. I decided to give him the bath this day because he came in with a couple car oil stains on his back which he was unable to clean himself, nor would it have been healthy for him to lick the chemicals off. He may not have been happy about the bath, but it was for his own good. We decided to film it because as soon as I started running the water, Tigger started making funny odd noises we had never heard, so we just thought maybe we should capture it! He is perfectly fine and was back to his usual self 5 minutes after the bath. No harm done! Tigger is a happy, healthy, spoiled, well-loved kitty!

About 80 percent of the 51 tons of antibiotics consumed each day in the U.S http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-02/make-those-cows-pay-for-their-penicillin.html The most powerful anti-microbial essential oils Clove 80% kills more than 60 types of different bacteria. It's also a powerful antioxidant Thyme 55% Thymol -- effective against e coli, salmonella and pneumonia Word of caution: Thyme and Oregano are incredibly hot oils and very strong DO NOT put drops directly in the mouth or it will burn, rather put the drops into an empty capsule Note: If you are going to use essential oils for therapeutic purposes you MUST use 100% Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils For natural pain and inflammation relief Vitamin D3 combined with Omega-3 fish oil are two of the most potent anti-inflammatory agents known Goldenseal Native Americans used this herb for centuries for infections, venereal disease, and ulcers. That's probably because goldenseal prevents bacteria from adhering to cell walls so it can't grow Cinnamon -- Sometimes called a 'lethal' natural antibiotic, cinnamon has been used medicinally for ages. Pure, real Ceylon cinnamon can even stop E.Coli in its tracks, a stubborn bacteria that causes many diseases Recipe for a NATURAL ANTIBIOTIC (One level cup of each) (1cup is 240ml) 1. Horse radish (fresh). One bunch should be enough. Remove any foliage. Do not peel. 2. Garlic Two large cloves. Remove outer covering of the bulb, keeping cloves whole, that is, do not peel. 3. Ginger One half a root should be enough. Must be fresh, firm and smooth. The length of the tubers indicated how mature it is. The more mature, the hotter it is. Clean but do not peel as it will be grated/blended/liquidised. 4. Chilli (must be Habernaro or Red-eye) '10 or 11 fruits. Remove any growth but do not peel. 5. White onions (The hottest ones available) '2 large white onions (UK are hotter than Spanish) Remove outer only. 6. Apple cider vinegar (unprocessed, cloudy) I litre (two pints) is adequate Can be hard to find but persist. Method: Note: After removing any foliage, wash the ingredients in some apple-cider vinegar. Itself is a natural antibiotic. A great deal of tap-water is fluoridated, which is what we don't want! Use disposable gloves! All these ingredients are very potent! 1. Chop ingredients 1-5 as fine as possible or use a blender. Grate or blend each ingredient separately to ensure correct amount (one cupful). You don't have to clean the blender after each ingredient! 2. Put mixture into a glass jar/s. A jar, I believe is a quart or approx. 1 litre. 3. Fill to 2/3 of glass jar with the mixture and add Apple cider vinegar (unprocessed, cloudy) allowing about an inch (2.5cm) below the neck of the jar, this will to allow for any expansion. Cover. 4. Shake well. 5. Label bottle with 'Natural Antibiotic' and with the date of bottling. 6. Shake every morning and night for 2 to 3 weeks. After 2-3 weeks: 1. Strain through clean cotton fabric until clear of sediment. Important Notes: You can also strain through unbleached coffee filters, and poure the mixture through it into a glass container. However, actually doing the filtering can take a long time. I found the best thing to do was to allow the concentrate to settle by itself. It takes about a day for the sediment to settle properly, leaving a clear liquid above. After that, carefully draw off the solution, leaving the sediment as much as possible. This may also take some time but the end result is better. Keep drawing off the liquid until it is as clear as possible and finally put the lot through another filter. 2. Pour into dropper bottles (usually 50ml), using a small funnel. Note: A litre bottle/jar of the mixture makes about 1 pint (1/2litre) of juice. The resultant mixture can be stored in a dark, dry cupboard or a refrigerator, for up to 2 years. Dosage: Adults: 2 droppers-full placed under the tongue, left for a few seconds and then washed down with a small glass of water (not essential but it's pretty warm!). Repeat 2-3 times per day as often as symptoms require. Children: 1 dropper-full placed under the tongue, left for a few seconds and then washed down with a glass of water (probably essential). Repeat 2-3 times per day as often as symptoms require. ONLY TAKE IT WHEN YOU NEED IT"
